This is a mix of FBI, local police, Homeland Security, whatever, you name it, and as usual they have some trouble shall we say, communicating and cooperating.

The cast of characters listed is bigger than an NFL roster. This often scares me, and I did spend a little time at first looking back to see “who was who”. However, the main characters had their own personalities, and each was defined enough to keep my interest. There is good interplay in the dialogue that has been written. There’s no question Dickason knows how to keep you guessing til the very end. There were sure times it wasn’t just the characters wondering who they could trust, she had me trying to figure it out too.

An exciting thriller. Worth the time to read.

Now, amidst mounting concerns about that discovery’s implications, he must assemble a crew to repair his crashed ship and fly it back to Saturn’s Cassini Station. But Janus still has secrets to discover, and the alien probe’s mission may not be finished.

The crew of Gossamer Goose returns for a new interstellar adventure in this hard science fiction novella set in the Hayden’s World universe. The story is a 30,000 word novella (2 – 3 hours to read) and is the perfect size for reading on the go.

For an exciting, fast-paced sci-fi story, check out Janus 2. The dialogue flows so naturally and beautifully, and being set in the future, the sci-fi elements feel realistic. There’s a charming description of planes of the past near the beginning of the story, giving readers insight into James Hayden. He has a mission to go back to Janus on a nearly light-speed ship and retrieve the parts of a crashed ship and also possibly make first contact with a new species there. This creates some real suspense. Will they find alien life? Political red tape stands to get in his way but luckily doesn’t.

The futuristic world is created with great visual details. Everything comes across as authentic. Other sensual details make for a nice read and help a reader feel present. It is so detailed though that readers can’t just gloss over it. One must pay close attention. It helps if a reader is familiar with scientific terms.

The discoveries of the characters during their trek across space are wondrous, and the tension remains high, as danger potential always exists. When peril does strike, it’s brilliant. The crew goes through exciting and scary challenges on their mission. The interaction between them is amiable only adding dimension to the tale.

There are several really cool scenes, and they are so well-written that readers can truly visualize what’s going on. This is a great story written by a talented writer–recommended for fans of sci-fi.

Dickensen Academy isn’t a typical boarding school. The faculty is hiding an unbelievable secret within their fine arts program. When Autumn Mattison receives an invitation to attend the high school, she yearns to escape her overbearing father yet remains reluctant to leave her mother and brother. Her doubts fade away when a vivid dream convinces her she belongs there.

Away from home, Autumn discovers a unique school environment that awakens her creative potential, and her new friends become like a second family. However, as she uncovers more about the dark side of the school and struggles with its curriculum, she questions whether Dickensen Academy is truly where she belongs.

When tragedy strikes, Autumn must learn to believe in her own power and stand up to her greatest fear or risk having her memories destroyed to protect the school’s secrets. Caught between secrets and dreams, can she find her true self?

Not only men shall beat purchase generic levitra the odds, but everyone who loves eating junk foods and are less conscious about their sexual health, if compared with women. Autumn’s life will never be the same.

Ms. Grabowski has come up with a thought-provoking premise. I don’t think I’ve come across anything quite like it in a young adult novel. Autumn and her fellow students have a unique ability, which I can’t reveal without spoiling the story. At first glance, this power sounds wonderful and amazing. However, the potential for misuse is huge and truly terrifying. Immediately, my mind was filled with questions. How will the students learn to control their abilities? If someone is misusing their power, how could it be proven? What sort of discipline would the staff use if misuse was proven? How do they ensure the secret of the academy is kept? I eagerly anticipated learning the answers.

Autumn is a sweet girl. She is very determined and much stronger than she thinks. Autumn blossoms on the campus of Dickensen Academy, and I get the feeling this change is a breath of fresh air she’s needed for a very long time. Autumn has great potential, but she’s been living in the shadow of her father, older brother, and best friend. It is clear all these people care about her, but Autumn needs some time away to prove she is capable of succeeding on her own terms. It was a pleasure to watch her grow and change.

While Autumn is intelligent, school work is not something that has ever come easily to her. She works hard to maintain her grades, and her new-found ability is no exception. Unfortunately, Autumn is unable to push her ability to the next step. Frustrated, Autumn can only watch as her classmates progress. While it is nice to read about a character who isn’t magically good at everything, I must admit that Autumn’s struggle seems a bit prolonged, and I feel that the pacing of the story suffers as a result.

Autumn’s relationship with Ben is sweet, but moves at a very leisurely pace. While a slower approach is understandable given that Autumn and Ben are young, under a lot of pressure at a new school, and learning to control their special abilities, I do feel that the pacing suffers here as well. Autumn and Ben clearly care for each other and spend a lot of time together. I feel they could have moved on to dating sooner.

Dickensen Academy has a satisfying ending, but I have a lot of unanswered questions concerning not only the students’ power, but also a source of conflict between Autumn and a girl named Caitlyn. There is a lot of tension between these two and the potential for harm is real given the abilities of these students. There are also several serious events that weren’t explained. I’m curious to see how this will play out in the future.

I enjoyed reading Dickensen Academy. I see a lot of potential in this series and look forward to the next installment.

Faced with the loss of all her loved ones, she turns to the only person who understands her plight, U.S. cavalry scout, Jacob Wells.
Jacob has led a difficult life, born of a Comanche mother and a cavalry soldier. He serves as a cavalry scout with bravery and integrity, wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps. But when a commission in the Army is within his grasp, he learns there is something more important than ambition—his growing love for Ruth.
Discouraged and grieving, Ruth turns Jacob away to start a new life in the East. She has an important lesson to learn before she can love again—the lesson of forgiveness. Can Ruth forgive all the pain and sorrow she’s suffered and open her heart to Jacob and his forever-after kind of love?

Can one forgive after suffering so much heartache? Ruth MacDonald lost her family and was later held captive by the Comanche tribe for two years. Later she was deceived by those she thought had her best interest at heart. She knows heartache very well.

This is a short novel but covers a lot. This story is about forgiveness, using caution when wanting to love and trust again but it also touches on a tough topic. Ruth is judged because she was held captive and is pregnant by a warrior of the Comanche tribe. Jacob Wells is a U.S. Cavalry scout that is looked upon as being beneath the other Army member’s because of his mixed race. Both had something in common and grew from that. They couldn’t help how they were formed or being held captive but they didn’t let that make them bitter. Their time spent together and the growth of their relationship help lighten the heaviness of the story. Their relationship brought a refreshing and sweet romance to the story.

Ruth is a strong character that held up under tremendous pressure. With her shattered heart from a horrific past event she opens up to trust only to be deceived. I did think Ruth was a little harsh at the end of the book. Even though she was hurt she didn’t have compassion for Nellie’s situation. All of the characters had it tough. Nellie and Captain Ezekiel O’Connor weren’t exempt. Their heart’s desire to have children only to be disappointed time after time tugged at my heart. Reading their story made me think about what I would do in either of the women’s circumstances.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed the storyline and the two main characters Ruth and Jacob. I admire both for their strength and good will. I enjoyed reading their story and wanted their lives to have a happy ending. This is a well developed plot that not only hooked me but it drew me in to want to read book two in the series.

Aidan steps in to rescue her, but secrets from his past threaten to bogey their newfound relationship.

I didn’t read book one or book two in the Cinderella Romance series but I plan to remedy that as soon as possible. Book three, Par for Cinderella, was a hole in one for me. I loved it and felt it could be read as a stand alone.

Aidan was swoon worthy. He was more than just a handsome man. He was generous, kind and thoughtful. Beautiful on the inside and outside. I felt if the other leading characters in the previous books in this series are anything like Aidan then I need and want to read them just for more swooning possibilities.

Casey, the heroine, was loved by her townsfolk. It was easy to see why. She had the matching characteristics of Aidan, therefore they were made for each other. Unfortunately her past broken relationships made her not trust handsome men and Aidan had secrets of his own that made their budding romance that much sweeter to read. I couldn’t put the book down. When they interacted I could feel the chemistry and often their banter made me seriously laugh out loud.

The story is well written with something consistently going on that left me riveted. There were a few plot threads that intertwined to keep the reader in suspense. The characters were well developed. Some I adored and others I was happy to see their demise.

There was some back story shared for some of the characters that had their own book prior to this one but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment at all. It only made me want to read the previous books to learn more about their story. I found the back stories to be intriguing not distracting or confusing.

There were some misunderstandings between Aidan and Casey that made for a book glow at the culmination of the story. I found Par for Cinderella to be a refreshing contemporary romance story with unexpected surprises through out the plot.

A fun fact is I dragged my feet to read it because I was afraid it was going to be “golf-ish”. I made that word up. I hate golf with a passion because it takes my husband away from his family. I have to say that I regret feeling like that now. Par for Cinderella was an awesome book!

What inspired you to start writing?

Ash: When I was little, my Nana inspired me to write down the stories I made up in my head, this helped me through the more troubling times in my life. When life got too stressful, I could create another world to escape to.

Marcus: It started with sharing our own story of our marriage struggles in our blog, to help other couples. We wrote several non-fiction books to help couples like us. I knew my wife had an interest in writing fiction, and she came to me with this story idea and characters. I liked it and thought the story was good. I was pleasantly surprised with her fiction writing skills after I saw her first draft of chapter one. We decided this story needed to be told.

What advice would you give a new writer just starting out?

Learn from the successful authors, editors, and best selling classics in your genre. Read as many books as you can in the genre you plan to write and ask yourself what you like about them and what is missing, or what you don’t like. The Story Grid by Shawn Coyne is an amazing place to start.

What comes first, the plot or characters?

A little bit of both. We imagine the characters and how they meet, talk about their flaws, and how we will keep them apart. Then we play around with plot ideas until it fits.

Tell us something about your newest release that is NOT in the blurb.

An interaction between Luna’s father and Sol gets physical, a fight not to be missed.

What are you reading now?

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang and Reckless by Lex Martin.

What is the hardest part about writing for you?

Not getting distracted by our four and six year old. We work from home and are not always able to go to a cafe to get work done.

We also homeschool our children, so they are always here to ask questions and interrupt the “zone” of writing.

Marcus: A professional soccer player.

Ashley: A writer.

When writing descriptions of your hero/ine, what feature do you start with?

We usually start with their eyes; they are the window into someone’s soul after all.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Plotters. We plot all our books before we start writing. However, as the story flows, we change some of the ideas around.

Where are you from and what do you love best about your hometown?

Marcus: Accra, Ghana. I love the peace and calm.

Ashley: Vermont, US. I love the woods, the foliage and the access to fresh grown food and medicine.

This is the first fiction book that Marcus has read from beginning to end. Besides the classics of what was needed in school, Marcus has never read another work of fiction.

Do you use a pen name? If so, how did you come up with it?

Yes. We decided to use the initials of our first names and our last name.

Do you listen to music while writing? If so what?

Yes. It depends on the scene.

For Luna and Sol, Ash listened to celtic music, music from all over Africa, and of course some love songs.

Do you write in multiple genres or just one? If just one, do you ever consider straying outside your genre?

Yes. We also write non-fiction books for couples using our real names, Ashley and Marcus Kusi. So far, we have over 5 titles published.

What is something you’d like to accomplish in your writing career next year?

We would love to receive emails about how our romance novels has positively impacted at least one reader’s life. Also, we want to write and publish 3 standalone romance novels.

She’s fallen in love with the one person she can’t have… her father’s enemy.

After the sudden death of her mother, Luna battles with a secret that she knows would kill her father. Luna is sure she is destined to a life of disappointment trying to live up to his expectations of her. She knows the time is coming when she will be joined in an arranged marriage, as is the duty of the chief’s daughter.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the river that divides the Net lands from the Barden, Sol blames himself for his father’s death. As a result, he has vowed to strictly follow the laws.

However, the rules that had always been black and white dissolved into grey the moment their eyes met for the first time. Luna crosses boundaries with the mysterious man she can’t stay away from. Sol is drawn to the bold beauty he knows he can’t have.

Even though their union could bring peace, their love may also incite a brutal war. Luna is now faced with choosing between her soul-mate, or loyalty to a father she can never seem to please.

Will love be enough to conquer hate?

Will Luna have her happily-ever-after with the man she loves — or will she fulfill her father’s desire?

If you love romance novels about strong women, then you won’t want to miss this full stand-alone novel.

About the Author: A. M. Kusi is the pen name of a husband-and-wife team, Ashley and Marcus Kusi, authors of Our Bucket List Adventures and Questions for Couples.

We enjoy writing interracial love stories that have a strong female protagonist, are emotionally satisfying, and have a happy ending.

Society fosters the perception that being a parent comes naturally when the doctor hands them that ‘bundle sildenafil soft tabs of joy.’ Even if a parent wants facilitate, there are few places to flip to unless the case could be a crisis. When a school assignment about holiday traditions unexpectedly broadsides her, she discovers burying the past isn’t as easy as it looks, and the stark reality of her life before her adoption sinks in. Ashamed of the bleakness and poverty she came from, Zig struggles with the assignment until an epiphany strikes the whole family—it’s time to start their own traditions.

Zig and her fathers plunge into the insanity of holiday joy, exploring everything the season has to offer and learning how precious family truly is along the way.

Deacon and his husband Lang had adopted Deacon’s young niece, Zig after the death of her parents. They were a solid family, albeit in a non-traditional way. When Zig is tasked to do a “our family traditions” style project for the holiday season she’s upset that her different background means she doesn’t really have holiday traditions. Determined to give her everything, Deacon and Lang decide it’s certainly time for their little family to create their own traditions and ring in the holidays properly.

I enjoyed this heart-warming short story. I was pleased that Deacon, Lang and Zig were already well established as a loving family unit. And while Zig’s difficult past was heart-breaking, it was delightful to watch these three characters create some of their own happiness and make new traditions to go along with the few they already had. I loved both how different Deacon and Lang were, and how they could work together to offer Zig everything a young tween girl could need. I thought this story was both heart-breaking, outrageously funny and warming with how much love, tolerance and passion there was in it. I think this would be an excellent “pick me up” style of happy story for readers who enjoy family-orientated tales that always end with everyone being happy, safe and loved.

Readers looking for a strongly holiday-centric story might not feel this is quite “Christmassy” enough for them. Much like the characters themselves I feel this is a slightly non-traditional Christmas story. The tale isn’t about Christmas itself, so much as it’s about the small family of three discovering what traditions they enjoy as a family unit and learning/investigating some new ones that they can turn into future traditions. I think this is what gives the story so much of its “feel good” warmth. Deacon, Lang and Zig clearly adore each other and are strongly invested in each other’s happiness, and watching them interact together as a family and set out some new traditions was lovely. There is plenty of love and chemistry between Deacon and Lang – but not much graphic sex, so readers looking for a heavily erotic story might find this slightly lacking. Personally, I enjoyed the one descriptive scene and found it intimate and sensual.

I feel this is a lovely story and would suit both old and young readers. Modern and tolerant, this is a story that left me with a happy feeling and warmth that I really enjoyed. With interesting and vibrant characters and a really good plot this book was a delight to read.

Then, Welles is Snowbound in Big Springs in this novella by Lauri Robinson, where he must confront Sophie and their undeclared feelings…

Finally, rugged outlaw Russ rescues Abigail from spending the festive season alone in Christmas with the Outlaw by Kathryn Albright!

Christmas Day Wedding Bells by Lynna Banning

Alice is a librarian who enjoys her job and her life. When the sheriff sends a deputy to ask her if she will come and see him, she has no idea what news he has for her. Her sister who lives in a mining is dead. And she was murdered.

This story moves along well and it’s fun to watch a romance develop between Alice and the US Marshall Rand. The author uses her imagination and has him ask Alice to go undercover and talk to the miners. That means singing in a saloon and wearing a daring dress. Alice is game and even almost enjoys it.

The mystery is hard to break, there’s an unusual killer, and justice finally prevails. This was a good read.

Welles has decided to come home and check on his grandfather. He left town in disgrace and confusion and nobody is more surprised to find him at the door than Sophie who’s been taking care of Chester. He’s been in love with her for years but he’s gambler and she wants to do with them. He doesn’t want to talk about what made him leave and she’s trying to pretend they’re just friends but Chester has some ideas about what’s going on.

There’s a lot of soul searching and explaining to be done and the author does a good job of making it sound realistic and honest. At least this time Sophie doesn’t get her heart broken…

The story is enjoyable, well written and fun to read. The old west was tough but so are the people who live there.

Christmas with the Outlaw by Kathryn Albright

He’s in a bind. He witnessed a murder, has been shot himself and he’s also being framed for the murder. His plan is to go to Denver to get an attorney he knows to defend him. He can’t make it that far, though, and stops at the business office of a childhood friend.

Since Abigail is a journalist at her brother’s paper, she always meets with the sheriff for information. She doesn’t like hearing there may be a killer headed their way. Then she finds out who has been accused.

This story is well paced and seems real. Small towns usually had people in power who pushed other around and it’s Russ’ partner that threatens everyone in town. He was also the one who shot him. How do you overcome lies when no one saw what happened? The townsfolk think he’s guilty.

When Abigail finds him in the storeroom, she thinks he’s a vagrant. Then she finds his wound and gets a doctor to treat him. Now there are four people in town who know he’s there.

The romance between them started long ago and that’s why he left town. Now it’s beginning again. He thinks he’s too old for her but he wants her. She’s always loved him but she also knows what he’s like and doesn’t know if she can trust him.

Watching this love grow and how they interact is fun. It looks like it’s hopeless but they still love each other. Then the sheriff finds him…

The author keeps your interest and makes you care about her characters. This western romance is a good read even if you have to worry about one of the main characters.

It exemplifies strong personalities and a memorable family with plenty of trials. The characters are lively and bring a lot to the story. I get the feeling this was just a glimpse of their development and there will be more to come in future books.

This is not only a story of family but the bond and fight for one of their own. Young son Langston and three of his fraternal brothers are arrested for drug trafficking. The bond of brotherly love is tested and this story shows that under pressure that bond can unravel. The four young men endured a lot and their lives will forever be changed. Age old hurt and rivalry weigh heavy on Assistant District Attorney James Brown. He has it out for Bradley and will stop at nothing to hurt him and all that he loves. The secret that is being carried threatens to ruin a lot for a lot of people. I felt sorry for James to a point but at the same time think that he needs to be the bigger man and let the past hurts go and live his life.

The story is suspenseful. It’s a quick moving read but it doesn’t wrap up so nicely. The ending closed the case but left several relationships open and unanswered. Jacqueline, James, Perk, Desiree…all of the character pretty much didn’t have closure to their story. I’ve noticed a few editing issues in previous books by this author and this book has the same trouble. As a true fan I am still not disappointed. In my opinion the story is well executed, entertaining and has piqued my interest in future books.

This is a remarkable novel from a best selling author who knows how to give testament to a strong family bond. Highly recommended!

Stories about mortals travelling into hell have been omnipresent in our literary canon for almost as long as weve had one, but young writer Su-Yee Lin has still managed to find modern resonance and new territory to explore in this lyrical and evocative vision of a trip to a place that is never quite what we expect it to be.

It wasn’t very far into the first scene when I first realized that the main character was suffering from some sort of memory loss. He couldn’t remember simple things like his first name or more complicated facts like why he’d agreed to go to the underworld in the first place. Given these facts, I was pleasantly surprised by how well I got to know him as a person. His personality shone through all of his confusion, and I felt like I’d recognize him instantly if we were ever to be in the same room. This was quite the accomplishment for a character who could tell the readers so little about his past, and it made me want to read more from Ms. Lin soon.

As much as I liked it, there was a little too much exposition in the final scene. The protagonist’s mind had been deteriorating slowly but steadily in the beginning and middle of this tale. Due to this pattern, I was a little taken aback by how things ended. There had been a nice amount of foreshadowing earlier on, so I didn’t really see the need to explain things in quite as much detail as they were in the end. With that being said, I still enjoyed reading this and would say that my only criticism was definitely a minor one.

The descriptions of what hell was like in this universe were nothing at all what I was expecting. There was no gory content at all to my surprise, but that didn’t make it one bit less frightening than it would have been if it were part of the horror genre. I loved the fact that the author was able to write such a unique and creepy setting while also turning the audience’s expectations upside down. The vague references to this were what originally drew me to this story, and they turned out to be my favorite part of it in the end.

I’d heartily recommend Thirteen Steps in the Underworld to anyone who has ever had a word or memory on the tip of their tongue.
