Penelope Manchester, a good witch with one green and one blue eye, awaits her destiny: a warrior of God with the face of an angel, the heart of a saint, and eyes which match her own. St. Michael the Archangel flies into her life and sweeps her off her feet. Meanwhile, an evil sorcerer captures witches, steals their powers and most of their nine lives, and shrinks them to the size of dolls – Nürnberg dolls. But when he turns two of the Manchester witches into dolls, the Manchester clan fights back with the help of St. Michael, and divine intervention. Armed with the legendary copper cauldron, a fire-breathing dragon, and an arsenal of spells, good battles evil.

The Copper Cauldron is a light, quick read—an interesting blend of a variety of traditions ranging from magical and Hindu to classic Christian. With so many diverse elements, I was looking forward to seeing how Ms. Venters would weave this story. All the elements are there. There’s a prophecy of true love to be fulfilled, witches to be rescued, there’s a handsome angel, a beautiful witch, an evil sorcerer… there’s even a fire breathing dragon.

Kindly note: There are sure conditions where this item unica-web.com cialis 10 mg might be risky. Unfortunately, deep characterization is lacking…something which can happen in a story of few pages. The reader is told what the characters think and feel rather than getting to experience it. The characters never came alive for me.

Penelope doesn’t possess the poise, intellect or integrity I expected in a twenty-nine year old woman an immortal angel would be attracted to. She causes pigeons to poop on people, sells curses, tries to poison an innocent man and swears. St. Michael the Archangel is a cardboard cutout rather than a divine being.  Interestingly, he seems to believe in karma rather than faith or even divine intervention.

At 102 pages, it can be read in one sitting. The plot of this story was clever and unique and I would have really raved if I’d connected a bit more to the characters. Still, this might be me and not the story, and that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy Copper Cauldron. It is clear that Ms. Venters has a great imagination. Copper Cauldron has a good premise and a fast-paced storyline.

On the surface beautiful, quiet Shaye has little in common with dark, dangerous Tanner. He’s a suspicious big city cop come home to the historic Davis family ranch to settle his uncle’s estate. She’s working for an environmental conservancy that acquires and protects old ranches-and she wants to preserve the Davis homestead.

When the suspicious death of Tanner’s uncle at his ranch throws the two opposites together, tempers flare and sparks fly. While they have trouble seeing eye to eye, Shaye and Tanner agree on one thing: they need to uncover the truth.

Combining their unique skills-Shaye’s low-key approach and local connections and Tanner’s experience as a homicide detective-the unlikely pair share long nights in the pursuit of justice. Before they know it, the friction they generate turns to heat, igniting a burning love neither ever expected to find.

They believe passion this intense cannot last. But when Shaye becomes a killer’s target, Tanner realizes he’d give up anything to protect her-including his life.

The prologue of this story started with a bang, giving a hint of what was to come. I was intrigued at once and was anxious to find out what was going on.

The two main characters, Shaye and Tanner, met at the very beginning, and there was immediate attraction. The mystery was the most important thing, however, so they both tried to keep this at bay. The author was very clever as she led these two through the step by step investigation into the death of Tanner’s uncle.

Each of the two had different skills and by combining them became stronger. They didn’t often see eye to eye, yet they were able to work together in searching for clues even as sparks flew between them.

Usually I can figure out most of the guilty parties and the reasons for the mystery, but in this case, even though they found some of the guilty parties, I could not figure out the rest of the plan until the last chapters.  The resolution was a surprise and was exciting and suspenseful.

There were, however, a couple of things that bothered me. I felt that the author did not follow up on a couple of clues that were thrown out. Also at the conclusion, although Tanner was so injured that he could barely walk, he was suddenly able to fight a healthy, strong person and win. Then the next step in the ending was told after the fact, and I felt cheated in not being able to participate in the conclusion.

Overall, though, this was a really good mystery and I enjoyed reading it.

The director of the AWB Theatre Company, Lawrence Mickelman has alienated everyone in sight with his tyrannical manner. When his body is found in the locked theatre, a sword from Hamlet in his chest, the troupe’s owner asks Mark Louis, one of the actors, to dig a little deeper than she thinks the police will. The police investigation points toward Don Lovett, the play’s Hamlet, but Mark’s suspicions turn elsewhere. As the police prepare to arrest Don, Mark must bring the murderer out into the open before the killer strikes again

This is a fun mystery which takes place during a theatre company’s rehearsals for a production of Hamlet. And as I re-read the Prologue, I realized that there are a number of clues given right there, clues which both I and our amateur detective didn’t pick up on until near the end. The entire murder is detailed in the Prologue, with, of course, the exception of the names of the murderer and the victim.

John Paulits has written an engaging stories, and I could identify with many of the characters. The story is told from different points of view, which allows Paulits to show more dimensions to his characters. A murder in an acting company is ready-made for all sorts of intrigue, plotting, jealousies, and backstabbing. Mark Louis, the amateur detective, plays the role of Laertes, but in fact he would much rather be writing than acting, and he has just had one of his stories published in Ellery Queen Magazine. He does finally solve the mystery, with a lot of help from his friends, and the story ends well. It is refreshing to read a whodunit without a lot of blood and gore.

I did feel that the plot dragged in spots. The characters seemed always to be eating and/or drinking, frequently at a luxurious apartment belonging to Ashley, the aging actress who funds the AWB Theatre Company and also plays the role of Gertrude. Very little of the novel actually takes place in the theatre. Most of it occurs at the after rehearsal dinners and post-murder gatherings. Several events seemed contrived in order to provide the reader with necessary information.

However, overall, Paulits has written a light-hearted cozy mystery with a nice scattering of Shakespeare, and I found it to be an enjoyable read. I can recommend it to any fans of cozy mysteries.

After being betrayed and abused by an ex-lover, Sean trusts no one–but he can’t help wishing he could trust gentle-hearted tattoo artist Riordan. When these two vulnerable men, scarred inside and out, find each other, neither is willing or able to walk away.

Both starved for touch and lonely in his self-imposed exile, Sean can’t help wanting Riordan both body and soul and in his bed, and Riordan is captivated by the sweet nature and the beauty he can still see beneath Sean’s scars. Yet despite his hunger for affection, Sean can’t break free of a cycle of shame and despair, not even as Riordan’s falling in love with his beautiful disaster.

Will Sean be able to break through the barriers he’s built around himself and let Riordan in–and will Riordan find the key to unlock Sean’s frozen heart?

Initially intrigued by the haunted Sean, Riordan decides to take the prickly, scared man as his own. It’s not easy for either man but when it’s right, it’s worth any amount of work.

A Beautiful Disaster is a sweet, lovely romance about the power of redemption. Sean is struggling with resuming his life in some form after his abusive lover ran him down with his car. The scars are not only physical but deeply mental and emotional too. However, time with Riordan seems to show Sean that good things can happen if he wants them. The two men are nicely drawn and work well together. They have obvious chemistry and their love affair feels organic and natural. Both men are truly three-dimensional and make for a quick, engaging read.

The story tends to play on the trope of loving curing all but the depth in which Sean is developed helps sell this idea. He’s too hurt and damaged to change as entirely as the story says in that time but it’s a romance so I didn’t mind suspending disbelief to believe the change. Likewise Riordan seems to fixate on Sean for no real reason, perhaps they’re soul mates, so it took a bit for me to be able to really buy into the concept. What really helped was the level of detail in the tattoo scenes and the mysterious best friend, Jae. Will he get his own book? I can see it.

The writing is clean and easy, making the pages fly by before I noticed it. The feel of the story is perfect for a dark, rainy night but it has a definite happy ending. There are some darker themes introduced but the material is kept very superficial and not much angst is involved. It helps keep the story lighter and easier to read in one sitting. I’d recommend this both to new readers as a good introduction and those long time author fans.

Ms. Hewitt did a good job transforming his personality into someone worthy of this heroine.

The dialogue is snappy, and Zoe always seemed to have just the right thing to say to Aaron which had me cheering for her the moment she discovered she was pregnant. A couple of times I thought she didn’t need this guy but then he did something to change my view. By the end I hoped they could work things out and be a happy family. The pacing is fast and I kept turning the pages to read more of the story. Before I knew it, I was at the end!

Silence is her only protection

Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist B. K. (“Brynn”) Elliot chronicles Baltimore’s grittier side with her lens—a talent cultivated from her years as a teenage runaway. A reclusive figure, Brynn lives under everyone’s radar…until a photo from her past plunges her into the crosshairs of powerful enemies.

Detective Parker McCall has devoted fifteen years to trying to solve his brother’s murder, and with the release of a photo implicating Brynn as a potential suspect, he feels close to finding justice. Determined to get answers, Parker must ignore the inexplicable attraction he feels for the haunted beauty in the photo. And Brynn must decide if Parker will protect her or betray her in his hunt for a killer.

Police detective Parker McCall’s dad was a dirty cop and his brother was a drug addict who was murdered on the street. He has a lot to prove and struggles with trust issues.  Brynn is a former runaway with secrets of her own… ones that could get her killed. She and two friends have been in hiding for years, until a reporter manages to “out” her with a photo in the paper.  Things immediately start happening.

Gail Barrett doesn’t waste time kicking up the adrenaline rush here.  As soon as Parker sees the picture, everyone is at a dead run.  Multiple storylines intersect from time to time, since Brynn offers to tell Parker the truth about his brother’s murder if he looks into a teenager’s death that was ruled suicide, but she thinks was murder.

The two are on the run and in the crosshairs of many people: gangs, police, shady unknown bad guys.  They learn quickly they can trust no one but each other … or can they?

With wonderful descriptions, three dimensional characters, plenty of sexual tension and then heat between the sheets, emotion, excitement and more, Fatal Exposure is everything a good romantic suspense should be.  I can’t wait for the next book!

Royals Edmund and Alice Windsor return to 2011 only to discover their world is now powered by gasoline and electricity – not compressed natural gas. Their attempts to persuade their grandmother, Queen Anne II, falls on deaf ears. Taking matters into their own hands, they enlist Jonas Byron’s help and travel back to 1855 to set the time line right.

Now in Lincoln, Edmund is reunited with Lady Keira Russell, the love of his life, but if it isn’t one obstacle, it’s another. Keira does not want to fall in love with him again. Jonas Byron has taken up with Keira’s father to build a windmill, and Edmund’s brother, Richard, the Guardian of the Time Machine, has followed Edmund to ensure Queen Victoria makes the right decision when choosing the fuel of the future. Edmund has a choice – make mischief to ensure time marches to the beat of the right drummer, or trust in Keira and her belief that Queen Victoria will make the right decision on her own. Will Edmund lost Keira for good if he makes the wrong choice?

It’s mid-nineteenth century; two cousins matter-of-factly pop out of the edge of time. Immediately, we are drawn into a tale that started with the ‘time machine’…but is driven by love, and carries us from petticoats to limousines.

Pace, descriptions, and a big cast of characters: all are managed quite well by the author. We sweep from place to place, time-to-time, effortlessly.  We readers will stand on the edge of a quarry, wander the forest, find ourselves in a game room immersed in billiards or rushing to catch a ride. Small details add a strong sense of place to each move, from specific flowers or the scent of pies, or noticing the roses and carnations around an old oak. Characters are managed similarly; the opening characters are important, as it is our Edmund’s quest to find his love, Kiera that truly drives him…however, he is also on a quest.

The future of fuel is in the hands of the Queen, who also happens to be the grandmother of the cousins. They must take steps – and fast – to ensure the world moves onto the correct timeline for the future fuel to be used. Kiera, as well as a number of other aristocrats, are soon involved – and we realize that theirs is not the only romance underway. The future will be affected by many factors, as well as individual’s personal decisions. Love, indeed, yes love, might end up having an impact on what the future will bring…

In A Gentleman and a Rogue Burkart cleverly blends the fantastical and the historical into something bizarrely believable. A must read, whether you are a particular fan of the genre or not…because real heartfelt romance is still at the heart of the story.

The only thing more troublesome than a Cynster man…is a Cynster lady who believes love is not her destiny. Famously known in London society as “The Matchbreaker,” Henrietta Cynster’s uncanny skill lies in preventing ill-fated nuptials – not in falling victim to Cupid’s spell.

But then she disrupts one match too many and feels honor-bound to assist dashing James Glossup in finding a suitable bride for a marriage of convenience.

A task infernally complicated by the undeniable, unquenchable attraction that flares between James and Henrietta, who continues to believe she will never fall…

Every time I get the opportunity to read another Cynster Book, I cross my fingers in hopes I wouldn’t be disappointed. I mean, how can Stephanie Laurens keep on writing such really awesome stories time after time? Well, she did it again and I was not disappointed.

She has no desire at all to be married to the fops she meets who are prancing around looking for rich wives. Instead, she spends her time using all her many skills, breaking up couples who are not compatible. Such fun to read about how she does this.

Then she breaks up a potential marriage only to realize that the gentleman, a friend of her brother’s, must marry in four weeks or lose his inheritance. Knowing that she is responsible for breaking up his almost nuptial, she offers to find him a suitable wife in that time.

As these two go on the hunt, they find that they have much in common. However, Henrietta is not about to give up her spinsterhood for any man, and he does not want to become involved with his best friend’s sister.

There is much, much more to this story than just a romance. There is a magical necklace which Henrietta must wear at all times. You will have to read the story to find out why. There are murder attempts and these two must find out who the murderer is, and solve the mystery. Of course this will involve other Cynster wives and it’s fun to revisit characters from previous stories.

I found that I could not put this book down, once I started. This is a wonderful Regency romance/mystery and another great Stephanie Lauren story. I just have to give this book 5 Stars.

Mitchell really didn’t think that things could get any worse, but he also never imagined that they could get better until one day, as he was sitting on a park bench, a total stranger found him and offered him an amber vial. That’s how Mitchell became a time traveler.

Kevin Henry has written a fascinating story about time travel. His descriptions of different eras and places seem historically accurate. The novel jumps back and forth rather than moving in a straight line as Mitchell is sent on a quest to find various artifacts. The events in one chapter do not necessarily happen after the events in the previous chapter. As Mitchell’s friend Crystin says, “That’s the enigma of different time streams. It’s all one big time-space continuum, but you can drop in and out of it at any given point, in any order.” Henry has organized his novel to mimic this concept of time travel, and the organization works really well once the reader catches on. It’s as if Henry is encouraging the reader to travel along with Mitchell.

Henry’s characters are also well-developed. I felt for Mitchell from the beginning and I like his belief in the basic goodness of his fellow humans. He has an engaging wide-eyed innocence as he learns about the mysteries of time travel. I also like his girlfriend, Crystin, and the two of them make a great pair as they try to stop fellow time travelers bent on evil. Even the villains in this story are likeable, at least in the beginning. Henry also shows us glimpses of famous people in history, and we learn a lot about John Dalton.

This story is very engaging and well-paced. If you have ever wondered what it would be like to travel in time, this might just be the book to show you one way time travel could work.
