Reviewed by MistflowerTrapped in the middle of five siblings, Everly Lancaster always had big dreams. Now a top real-estate executive, Everly finds her work is her life, leaving no space for anything (or anyone) else. Sensing her stress, Everly’s boss insists she take December off. At first, a month away seems crazy—how will the company survive without her? But Everly’s mother convinces her otherwise. She deserves a vacation—plus, when she returns, she’ll have no excuse to skip family Christmas like she did last year.
But after her vengeful assistant books a guided cruise in the Amazon instead of the luxury beach vacation she expected, Everly is horrified to realize that she’s about to spend the next two weeks trapped—with no Wi-Fi!—in the rain forest. Not even Asher Adams, the ship’s charming naturalist, can convince Everly that the trip will be unforgettable. Slowly but surely, she realizes he is right: the sights are spectacular. And with each passing day, Everly’s relationship with Asher deepens, forcing her to take a long, hard look at her priorities.
Everly and Asher begin to see magic in the possibility of a life together. But as the cruise nears its end, and Everly’s family Christmas approaches, both must decide if love is worth the risk. A merry surprise may be in store in Debbie Macomber’s newest holiday delight.
A+ for originality. This a must read. I consider myself lucky to have read this story. I was stuck for hours in an airport in Chicago without a book to read. I went to the book store and this was the only romance book available to buy. I couldn’t put it down once I started it. The synopsis reveals quite a bit of the plot but not all of it. So, if it appeals to you as it did me then don’t hesitate to pick it up.
I was completely smitten with the hero, Asher Adams. I’m pretty sure Asher could take me to the worst place on earth and I’d still love being there if he was with me. The heroine, Everly, was endearing and hilarious. Together, Everly and Asher were heartwarming. I couldn’t get enough of their sweet chemistry.
There are other characters that are well developed and compliment the storyline such as Asher’s and Everly’s relatives. The narrative wouldn’t be the same without their support. No family is perfect but Christmas is about miracles. Quoting the synopsis at this time is necessary for this review. “A merry surprise may be in store in this heartfelt novel”. I couldn’t have said that any better.
I can think of a few stockings that need to be filled with this book. “Jingle All the Way” was a well written, fun and entertaining read. I was ho, ho, ho-ing my way through the Chicago airport all the way home. I definitely recommend this book.

Reviewed by FernRachel Jacobs is a wolf on a mission. To save her pack from destruction, she’s turning to the werewolf who nearly destroyed it once before. Arkady Gusev is everything her father ever warned her againstso why does she find him so irresistible?
Arkady Gusev isn’t looking for a pack or a woman. But when Rachel walks through his door, she throws down a challenge he can’t resist. Is this exiled alpha about to come home?
Rachel had driven a long way to get to the Sandbox – a shifter-run club where pretty much anything was possible, for a price. Rachel wasn’t interested in any side entertainment though, she had one purpose, to convince Arkady to return to their pack – the same pack he’d been exiled from a number of years ago. Can Rachel and Arkady work together to solve each of their problems?
While I thought Arkady – and Rachel in a different way – were both rough and ready characters I enjoyed how they clashed with each other and both were not ashamed of themselves or their desires. Both headstrong and determined, it was fun to watch Rachel and Arkady circle each other and snap and snarl. Readers looking for an intense and hotly written story with plenty of sizzle and a bit of bite should find this really suits what they’re after.
Readers looking for a redemption style story or something a bit on the sweeter style definitely won’t find that here in this short story. But I was pleased with the strong, almost fierce and very modern take on the werewolf pack, the ousted Alpha and in particular I was pretty impressed with the deal Rachel and Arkady struck at the end.
With a very different – but undeniable – Happy Ever After, this was a fun and strong, sharp and toothy quick read.

This book was very timely for me — my husband asked for a divorce a month or so prior to me requesting to review. I’m so glad I picked it up! It’s not super long, but it’s honest and interesting and I love all the journaling suggestions. Honestly, I wish there had been more. I went out and bought a brand new notebook just to work through this… I did all the different exercises and some of them actually sparked other journaling which was really helpful and cathartic.
The author goes through her own experiences, with honesty and doesn’t pull punches. She tells about the ups and downs as she worked through getting past her divorce. Some of it didn’t apply to me (I’d been married so long, our children were grown, for example, and she discusses things like having to learn to be away from her children when they were with their dad), but overall it was a solid book to give ideas for building back a life. And that’s something I think anyone going through a divorce, particularly when they weren’t the one who wanted it, could use.
It’s not a miracle worker… I’m still devastated and broken, honestly, because that doesn’t end in a few months. But it gave me tools to use to help work through the feelings I have and to find the “me” I lost. It helped me realize there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and that the end of a marriage isn’t the end of a life. There’s more and it can be really good.
So if you need help after divorce to find an even keel, Divorce Bucket List might help you. I think it’s worth giving it a try!

Do you know what your problem is?
Olivine knows hers. This quiet thirteenth-century artist has been hiding a secret as she travels to K’ba to meet her friends. Others assume she’s fallen in love with another artist, but it’s much worse than that. For on the way to K’ba is the dirt poor nichna of Scrud, a place scorned by other Ilarians. And in Scrud is the one man who understands her.
However, Bohdan recognizes the dangers posed by an impending Mongol invasion. When he learns of Olivine’s unusual visual powers, he convinces her to pick up her bow and start practicing.
She does, though she’s more concerned with moving to K’ba where she can paint all day and see Bohdan whenever she wants. If only her sister hadn’t decided Olivine and her fellow long eyes held one key to defending the realm.
Then, as if life wasn’t complicated enough, Olivine learns the artist community she yearns to be part of has developed a different take on the invasion. They’re sure the only way to survive is to capitulate completely to the Mongols’ demands. Artists who feel otherwise are no longer welcome.
Where does her future lie? The invasion is coming soon and Olivine doesn’t have much time to decide.

I let my mother know I’d be celebrating Noruz in K’ba. She said nothing; I think she expected it.
“I’ll be back after the holiday. Then I’ll probably be around here a lot more. I hope that’s okay.”
She smiled. “Problems with your young artist?”
“Something like that.” At least the lie sliding out of my mouth was partly true. “We’re going to take a bit of a break from each other after the holiday.”
“That’s so wise, dear. Make time to get out there and socialize. Consider those other options.” She reached out and took both of my hands in hers and looked into my eyes. “Remember. It’s just as easy to fall in love with a prince.”
The best I could manage was a slight nod as I disengaged my hands and walked outside.
I found my father in the barn and asked him if he had any objection to my conducting archery practices on the farm with a few boys from Gruen.
“Of course you can practice here. We’ve plenty of room.” He gave me a questioning look. “Are all you girls involved in this thing Ryalgar is doing?”
“Probably. I don’t know how the others see it, but I can’t imagine life without this farm, or without Vinx to always come home to.”
He turned away as I said the last part, but when he turned back to face me, I saw the tear in his eye.
“Neither can I. I’m proud of every one of you.” He said it fast, in a quiet tone, so I wasn’t sure I heard him right. I started to say something back, but he walked out of the barn before I could.

The book deals with a timeless subject, which is as relevant today as it was at the time of King James – the abduction and sexual abuse of children. It is handled sensitively and a distinction is drawn between same-sex, loving partnerships and the cruel use of children bought and sold for the sexual gratification of often wealthy “clientele”.
The story and plot are exciting and well-balanced, with the right amount of tension to make you want to keep on reading. There is a real sense of being in London in the reign of King James and an atmospheric feeling about the taverns, shops and streets as well as the bathhouse itself, all linked to the river Thames and famous theatres of the time. The characters are great and very believable and the action scenes well-written and full of high adventure. It also comes to an uplifting and optimistic conclusion, with some surprising and joyful twists.

Gwendolyn Kidd has met the man of her dreams. He’s hot, he’s sexy, and what started as a no-names-exchanged night of passion has blossomed into a year and a half-long pleasure fest. Sure, it’s a little strange that he only appears in her bed at night, but Gwen is so sure he’s the one, she just can’t turn him away…
Hawk Delgado knows more about Gwen than she could ever imagine. She’s gorgeous, headstrong, and skittish about relationships. But Hawk is facing his own demons, demons that keep him from connecting with anyone. Yet when Gwen is drawn into Denver’s lethal underground scene, Hawk’s protective nature comes out full force. The problem is, when Gwen gets a dose of Hawk’s Alpha attitude in the daylight, she’s not so sure he’s the one anymore.
If you have never read a Kristen Ashley book, Mystery Man is the perfect book to start with. This is one of my favorite KA books and I have read it over and over again. Cabe is a hot alpha male and Gwendolyn is a feisty, sweet heroine. Along with a perfect hero and heroine there are a wonderful cast of entertaining secondary characters.
What keeps bringing me back to this book is Cabe (Hawk) Delgado. He owns a security company and he and the commandos he employs, help keep the Denver streets safe. Cabe is a good guy with a white hat but he doesn’t always obey the laws to get results; he isn’t hampered by rules and laws like the police.
The love story between Cabe and Gwen is magnificent. They both have baggage from their past and are afraid to let go and love again. However, they just can’t seem to stop seeing each other, even though it scares the heck out of them.
This story has bad guys after Gwen and Cabe insists he is the only one who should keep her safe. Along the way, there are so many interesting characters included in this story it’s hard to pick my favorite. Although Elvira is at the top of my list; she is hilarious and had me laughing out loud so many times. This is romance at its best and includes hot alpha heroes, bad guys, suspense and many colorful characters.

When Scott discovers he needs a groom and there’s no way around it, Scott and Connor find themselves in a marriage of convenience. But will the two men find remaining married is what they both end up wanting?
I enjoyed this modern and fresh story. While the plotline is at a first glance pretty well used – rich business man finds for reasons beyond his control he needs a spouse and allows himself to marry the employee who secretly loves him – I found the modern setting and very contemporary feel really added a freshness to the story as a whole. I also really enjoyed the fact that Scott, while rich and powerful and owner of the business, wasn’t arrogant or dislikable with his power and prestige. This really helped me enjoy both his character and the story as a whole. Enjoying the characters and really hoping they fall in love and come to see that in each other was a delicious way to spend some time.
With the obligatory jealous ex and a bunch of interesting and varied secondary characters I found this to be a fun and quick read that delighted me at a number of turns. While the plot is well-worn enough to be comfortable it was absolutely freshened up and felt really fun and modern to me. I also thoroughly enjoyed Scott and Connor’s slow fall for each other. I thought there was plenty of chemistry and sizzle between the two men but feel readers expecting a strongly erotic and heavily explicit story might not find this quite hot enough for their tastes.
Fun and refreshing I enjoyed this quick read.

Woman suffrage—wasn’t that just about women in long skirts getting the vote years ago? Didn’t the 19th Amendment settle that in 1920? No, the “Prices of the Vote” in my subtitle alludes to that ongoing struggle. The first price was to exclude non-white women from the discussion, and it is still being paid, even by Native Americans. The fact that a major political party in the United States is actively working to curtail voting, especially by non-whites and, yes, women, indicates the struggle is not won. As my novelette makes plain, by the 20th century, the resistance to woman suffrage was intimately bound up in resistance to black woman and black man suffrage. And look where the resistance is focused now. It is even using the filibuster that was the center of the South’s resistance to civil rights. Now the “party of Lincoln” is leading the repression, though it previously led the civil rights fight.
The struggle for woman suffrage was one of the great dramas of our time. Imagine, throughout most of the world, half the human race, men, held the other half, women, in bondage. Yes, even white women were chattel, limited in their right to education, occupation, and property, even in their rights to their children. I choke up, still, when I read my account of the conclusive fight in the Tennessee House. I hope that by humanizing the struggle through a fictitious heroine with her hopes and feelings, the drama will come through for you and thus bring the necessary historical background alive. It is more current than we (men) would like to think. I am gratified that many reviewers have felt it.
I will continue the story in coming volumes. I hope to have the next one, Far Beyond Woman Suffrage: Testing the Limits, ready by 2/2/22. You can see how I’m coming on that through my website for all my books, DoFancifulFlights.com. In addition, I’m working on a couple of other books to fill out the promise of that title. Stay tuned in.
And VOTE!
Far Beyond Woman Suffrage: The Prices of the Vote
It isn’t just about women in long skirts finally voting. The racists and the rich know that, and the politicians worry.
Mercy Martin has an inside view as the battle for woman suffrage nears a climax, but she encounters many puzzles:
• So many women and Southern states oppose votes for women;
• So many people are afraid it would bring on free love, abandonment of family, economic catastrophe, or communism.
• So many suffragists are willing to abandon black women voters. From an innocent teen to a young adult, Mercy has a central role in the campaign. She advances from confinement in a suffragist jail cell to the national campaign for the suffrage amendment. She campaigns around Tennessee, ending at the capitol for the explosive climax in the last state that might ratify the amendment and grant the vote to women.
Why should something so clearly right be so hard, and why were some bitter compromises made? Mercy is right in the middle, relied on by key players. Along the way, she acquires a husband, a baby, and better parents than she was born with.
This is an intimate view via alternative historical fiction, as accurate as it can be and as thoughtful and moving as it must be. In this first novella of a series, Mercy jumps into the campaign for woman suffrage and prepares for a vital role in the coming decades. She’ll continue on into the wider civil rights struggle growing out of woman suffrage.

Progress? 1/12/1918
I excitedly wait before my shift on the line to discuss with Miss Sue news I heard about, that the House approved the woman suffrage amendment 274 to 136 two days ago! “So, we’re almost there?” I ask her when she’s passing by, checking how we pickets she’d assigned for the day are doing.
Her mouth tightens: “Sweety, we’ve just begun. That’s just over the required 2/3, and I understand the Senate will refuse even to debate it until October. “
“How can that be? Don’t they know it’s right … and important?”
“They’re afraid of the heat they’ll get from both sides and probably can’t line up the votes to pass it. In Southern states, a vote for woman suffrage is political suicide because negro women there would be able to combine their votes with Northern liberals.”
I look down: “Then it’s hopeless?”
“No, an election is coming. If they postpone a vote until after the election, we might win the few more seats we need.”
“Oh.”
“Don’t worry. We’re not letting any of them off the hook, especially not Woodrow Wilson. It’s his Democratic party, his responsibility. No excuses. He’s got to produce the votes.”
About the Author
David McCracken became a political activist when the Supreme Court ruled against school segregation. Fellow students joined him in urging the school board in Winchester, KY, to integrate immediately. He campaigned for a Democratic governor and joined the ACLU before he graduated from the University of Kentucky. After debating at U.K., he got a degree in economics and a job with the U.S. Department of Commerce.
When his daughters approached school age, he became increasingly concerned with how he wanted them schooled. Researching that, he decided teaching was what he really wanted to do. He got a master’s degree in elementary education at Murray State University. He taught for several years, until the fact that his girls qualified for reduced-price lunches based on his salary got to him. Ronald Reagan’s anti-government policies prevented him from returning to government work, so he took programming courses and shifted careers again. Programming was like being paid to solve puzzles all day, but teaching eventually drew him back until retirement.
For many years of this time, he was working intermittently at a novel that became Fly Twice Backward: Fresh Starts in Times of Troubles. This concerned his waking on his twelfth birthday, trying to figure out what had happened, following his new opportunities, and ultimately outliving an evil president resembling Donald Trump. After thirty-six years, David finally published it as an interactive alt-history Kindle novel. He soon started, Far Beyond Woman Suffrage: The Prices of the Vote, an alt-history novelette dealing with the campaign for woman suffrage. He finished this piece in just ten months. At 81, he is bold(?) enough to plan this as the first of a six-volume set dealing with the far-reaching results and implications of woman suffrage. His completed novels and another in the works are presented for discussion on a new website, DoFancifulFlights.com
David now lives with his third wife, stepdaughter, and step-grandson near Winchester, VA. He has a son from his second marriage, six grandchildren, and two stepchildren. And a wonderful black dog with four white feet.
