Is Ryver up to the challenge of a charmed and deliciously dangerous lover?

Ryver knows she can never go home again. That’s fine by her, since she’s with Theron, the vampire she loves. Now living in vampire territory, she’s learning more about Theron, and not all of it is good. The more she sees, the more she’s convinced that the man she fell in love with, the man who can make her body sing with a single touch, might not be the man she thought he was.

Caveat Emptor — Let the Buyer Beware.

3 Little Known Facts About Caveat Emptor 2: Trapped Lover

#1 – It took six weeks from my initial submission of Charmed Lover for me to partially plot the entire Caveat Emptor series and finish Trapped Lover for submission. It would have taken less time, but I felt the need to write the fifth book in the series before the second.

#2 – Because the first book in the series was only a 10,110 words, I tried to keep the second book (as well as all of the books that follow) in the same ten thousand word range. Trapped Lover hit 11,320 words. Suffice to say, I failed that little challenge and keep failing it. Each book demands more space.

#3 – I had to look up millionaire homes in Greece (where Theron lives) to get some ideas for the look and feel of Theron’s home. While I would like to link to the home that I found, it was listed on a realty site that has since removed the home from its listings. I can only assume the home was purchased. It was a beautiful home, and I’m glad I caught it when I did.

The Second Kiss

Since I started off with the first kiss, I thought I’d continue on with the second kiss in Quick Silver Ranch: Saddle Up

Every time he saw her, damn if his cock didn’t take notice, too. She’d bat her eyelashes at him, and make some comment about how he filled out his jeans. But today there had been more in her gaze than simple flirting. Today he saw need and raw desire.

Now was the time to deal with her and her not so subtle flirting. It was time to find out what she really wanted. With a quick glance, he noticed that everyone else was already making their way to their quarters. Her eyes grew wide when his body pressed against hers. As her mouth opened, he took her lips with his, not giving her time to protest. His tongue thrust deep into her mouth, tasting the coffee she’d drunk earlier. More, his body cried out. When her lips softened and her tongue began to tangle with his, he broke away and stared down at her. Her eyes were cobalt blue now.

“What do you want, Angie?” He wanted her, but first he had to make sure she wanted him.

He didn’t take unwilling women.

Her tongue slipped out and wet her lips. “You,” she whispered.

“I’m not like other men.”

So tell me readers, why did Jared tell Angie he’s not like other men? What makes him different from other men? Take a guess.

Jianne Carlo – Manacled in Monaco – excerpt #3

Okay – one last excerpt from Manacled and then we’ll tune in to Notorious in Nice, the second Mediterranean Mambo book.

Blurb:

Rolan Anthony Paxton, the Patriot’s celebrated wide receiver, dominated the football world for ten years. Fame and fortune fell into his lap and he rode the rainbow collecting Super Bowl wins. Even now, he crooks his finger and women line up — Hollywood stars, super models, beauty queens. But a decade later, disillusioned and unable to pinpoint exactly what’s missing, he finds himself staring over the head of his latest arm candy at the end of his career and resenting the young buck gunning for his position. Then he runs into Sarita Khan, the nose-in-a-book classmate whose virginity he claimed on prom night on the fifty-yard line and whose memory has fueled his fantasies for over ten years.

Sarita Khan never thought she’d see Rolan Paxton again. The NFL drafted him two days after Prom, two days after he took her virginity. What were the odds of her son’s father chartering the luxury yacht she’s crewing for a decade later? And that he’d still make her burn like he did ten years ago?

Sarita wants Rolan, but she wants her independence. Rolan’s a control freak bent on domination. Determined to show her who’s master, Rolan slaps on the manacles — and turns this trip to Monaco into a pleasure cruise.

Manacled in Monaco – excerpt #3:

“Sarita honey,” Rolan tipped her chin up, and cupped her jaw. “Are you telling me you’ve never? Not since that night?”

Her whole face heated, and she wanted nothing more than to vanish into oblivion. “I had to drop out of high school, then my mother died and I got fired. Sex was the last thing I thought about.”

“Then your wedding night will be very special, I promise.”

“I think it might be best if we didn’t get married. I’m not very sophisticated, Rolan. If you sleep with me, I’ll expect you not to sleep with anyone else.” She angled her jaw out of his reach. “In fact, I just might turn into Lorena Bobbit if you did.”

He grinned, a slow devilish beam and nipped her shoulder, a short sharp bite.

“We have a deal, little lady. You bobbit me if I break the rules. She snorted. “I said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m not the straying kind.”

“You’d never had an orgasm before the last couple of days either. Take it from one who’s experienced more than his share, they’re addictive.”

That one she believed.

“And that little red number you wore for lunch gets banished to the bedroom.”

“Who says?” She folded her arms.

“I do. And in a few minutes, you’re promising to love and obey.”

“It’s the year 2008, Rolan, not the stone age. I will omit that word.”

“Get one thing straight, Sarita. I am your husband and you will not wear that dress, or any other like it, in public.”

“Really?” One eyebrow arched. “And what happens if I do?”

“You get spanked.”

She snorted.

“Actually, I’ve already fantasized about spanking that pert little backside. Want to get married with a little tar on your ass?”

“You’re joking, aren’t you?” She never expected what followed.

For an answer, he swept his hands under her knees, scooped her into his arms, stalked over to the bed, and sat down. Holding her gaze, he edged her long ivory gown over naked thighs until he reached a pink and blue flowered garter belt. “I bet Yvonne had to bully you into wearing this. Did she?”

Dazed and somewhat apprehensive, she nodded.

“I gave her strict instructions about your undergarments. No underwear, right?”

Almost in a drunken stupor, she nodded again.

“And are you very very wet here?”

He knew the answer to that as he stroked a long, thick finger into her center.

“And you’re ready, Sarita honey, really ready.” He flipped her onto the bed, straddled her thighs, and spanked her. It happened so fast she didn’t absorb it for a few seconds.

A single stinging connection, hand to bare ass.

“Ten should do it. I want you thinking of me every minute of the ceremony, knowing I’m going to do this again before I give you a wedding night you’re never going to forget.”

Damn good. She hadn’t heard him approach. Hadn’t even heard him while he looted the upstairs bedrooms. Was she getting soft?

She pulled a box off the closet shelf and returned her focus to the task at hand. “Are you finished upstairs?”

“Yep,” he replied. “All set. You?”

She lifted the box lid and pushed back the lavender-scented packing paper. Italian leather gloves and silk scarves. Excellent quality. “Only this closet left.” She dumped the contents of the box into her sack. “Did you find anything worth taking?”

“A couple of Louis Vuitton purses and a pair of Manolos. Excellent condition.” His southern accent gave the renowned brand names a comical twist.

She smiled, amused, an emotion she’d been short on lately. “Anything else?”

The Texan knew his hot commodities. “Jewelry?” she asked.

“Ha. Can’t stop yourself, can you, darlin’?”

She bit down on a curt reply and shoved the box onto the shelf. No need in getting her temper up. She’d have to get used to such comments if she wanted to work with him in the future. The Texan had discovered her Achilles heel and appeared to enjoy poking at it.

SOLO HONEYMOON

I love Italy and Italian men. The funny thing is, even the cab drivers over there can make my heart pitter patter. I don’t know what it is about the men over there, but they sure do grow them handsome and charming. I recently returned from another trip and things have not changed. The water taxi driver in Venice was pure inspiration for my next hero that I plan to write. If you get a chance to get over to Italy, be sure to be prepared for a feast of the eyes; everywhere you look is another handsome man. It’s a swoon-worthy trip!

Why I write western.

Lindsay asked that I tell you all a bit about what inspired me to write White Savage (released through MuseItUp Publishing). Below is a shot taken of the Superstition Mountains in Arizona, not too many miles from where I grew up. Now a national park, but this rugged mountain range was once home to Apache Indians.

Both impotence & erectile dysfunction hold a negative effect on close relationships, quality of life & self esteem. levitra prescription on line check description The chemical responsible for color of human skin is melanin; its excess production causes age spots, freckles, and dark spot on the face, neck or other areas from cancer spread to bones cialis generika http://downtownsault.org/the-mole-hole/ Weakness or numbness in the legs or feet, or even loss of lives can result in expensive liability. This component which levitra without prescription purchasing here holds is basically the one which stops the enzyme PDE-5 to block the blood arteries that distribute the blood to the penis. Those medications, manufactured by pharmaceutical companies, sildenafil 10mg don’t differ or differ slightly from previous generation of pills.
The view below looks out over the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix and the adjoining cities that have all run into one huge metropolitan.

The view could also be one that many years ago, Cochise and members of his band watched for the army that searched for them. And, if legends are true, descendents may still today, hiding away from the white man, living the old ways. Hikers, campers, hunters, even prospectors go into those mountains to never return and are never found providing fodder to keep the legends alive. Growing up in Phoenix and hearing those legends sparked my interest in the history, most particularly in Cochise, a man feared and hated and still respected by many. He wanted to protect his people and their way of life. Reading about him, reading books, watching movies of that time period all added to that interest. In many of them white female captives returned to their families were featured, but in only one did I see anything concerning a white male captive, taken as a child and returned. All of that combined with the cause of Cochise going on the warpath against the white invaders is the kernel that began White Savage.
For those that don’t know the history a white boy went missing. Cochise, along with a party of his braves including relatives and friends agreed to come in for a parley. A young Lieutenant, freshly graduated from West Point, accused Cochise of kidnapping the boy. When Cochise denied it, he called him a liar and ordered his men to attack, despite the white flag the Indian party came in under. Several were killed then, more captured and hung, but Cochise escaped.
This is a quote from Cochise. “We were once a large people covering these mountains. We lived well: we were at peace. One day my best friend was seized by an officer of the white men and treacherously killed. At last your soldiers did me a very great wrong, and I and my people went to war with them.”
The boy hadn’t been kidnapped, he ran away, but the lieutenant’s arrogance and bigotry ignited a ten year war. In 1872 Cochise surrendered for the final time, taking his people to the reservation where he died in 1974. He was buried in secret, the location of his grave never revealed. One last quote from a fascinating man.
“You must speak straight so that your words may go as sunlight into our hearts.
Speak Americans. I will not lie to you; do not lie to me.”
In reading about the man and the history, White Savage is but one of several stories of my own growing out of facts. Where I live now in Arizona is so filled with history and what actual events don’t fuel my imagination, the geography does. In Twisted Wind (released through Swimming Kangaroo Books) the influence of the mining and cattle industry is the backdrop as well as how diverse the landscape. In a matter of miles you can go from sparse desert to dense forest and out to a high, treeless basin, so easy to do in a car, but mind boggling to think of doing it on foot or horseback. I live just a few miles from where one of the major stage lines ran and the ruins of one of the stage stops as well as one of the first railroads though the station house has been moved. The nearest town boomed in the early 1900s from the nearby mines. Prescott, mentioned in White Savage, is about twenty miles from me. The area where Clay finds Te could be just down the road, the mountains they run to not too far away. On fishing, hunting and camping trips I’ve seen the outcrop of trees and brush around a desert spring described in White Savage. The land and the history, the people are my inspiration.

If you’ve read both my contemporaries and historical, did any of my characters resonate with you? Is there a secondary character you’d like to see more of? I’m all ears!!

BLURB:
It’s been a long time since Renee and her two friends have gotten together for a girl’s night in.  What could possibly be more fun than drinking margaritas, gossiping about their recent bed-partners, and playing drunken rounds of Twister until they all pass out?  But when Mina shows up toting a bottle of José Cuervo Gold in one arm, and a strange game named Erotikos in the other, the girls’ evening is about to get a lot more interesting.

Even before they remove the contents, Renee senses something amiss.  This is no ordinary game.  Erotikos promises pleasures galore and adventures filled with sexual delight.  But how can a cardboard pastime with its small stack of cards, two oddly marked die, and eight pewter men accomplish all this?

After reading the instructions, the girls select their character pieces—an Indian, a selkie, and a vampire.  Three men of varying backgrounds, but all sexy as sin and tantillizing to the eye.  With a roll of the dice, the game begins, and the three women soon find themselves pulled into a place where their wildest fantasies come to life…

EXCERPT:
“Hotah Tatanka Winyan,” he said. He stepped toward her, repeating the phrase. “Hotah Tatanka Winyan.”

Renee started to hyperventilate. “I don’t understand,” she stuttered. Her whole body trembled with fear as she took in the bloody wounds dotting his chest and sides.

“Hotah Tatanka Winyan,” he insisted. “White Buffalo Woman.”

He stepped forward again and Renee let out a petrified shriek. Realizing her fear, the man halted his advance. “Don’t be afraid,” he assured. “I won’t hurt you.”

Renee’s pulse roared in her ears. “Where…why…am I…here?” she managed through pants.

The man appeared perplexed. “Have I not performed the Sun Dance correctly?”

He stared at her long and hard, as though expecting an answer. Renee shook her head. “I…I don’t know what—”

“I’ve pierced my chest with bones and fettered them to the sun-pole.” He indicated the two wounds, one on either side of his pectorals. “They were ripped from my flesh as I danced. I knew you would come.”

Removing a crown made from what looked to be some sort of herb, he tossed it into the fire. The flames bounced and danced as they greedily consumed their new offering. Surrendering to the ravenous blaze, the leafy green circlet sizzled and hissed, quickly turning brown and curling in on itself until it filtered into the bed of embers below.

The aroma of sage drifted to Renee’s nose as thin white smoke filled the inside of the teepee. Her gaze fastened on similar bands of herbs encircling the man’s thick wrists and ankles. Aside from the buckskin loincloth and two red dots of paint on his cheeks, he wore nothing else.

Renee silently watched, frozen with confusion and fear, as he walked toward her. When he reached the fallen pipe, he stooped to retrieve it. “Did you bring this?”

As he stood, his eyes met hers and Renee saw something akin to amusement shimmer in his near black gaze. Perhaps it was a play of firelight, but she could have sworn a grin touched his firm lips. She suddenly felt as though she were the butt of some sick joke.

The smoke-filled air caused her eyes to water and burn. Renee wiped them with the back of her hand. Blinking against the irritation, she refused to take her sight off of him. “Why am I here?” she demanded, her tone unbroken and a little firmer than before. “Eyanosa.”

He smiled then, as though realizing the charade was up. Tossing the pipe aside, he placed his large hands on his hips and regarded her with a boyish grin. “That is my name. Do you know what it means?”

Renee hesitantly nodded, not sure she wanted to know. His tongue slid along his full bottom lip. “It means big both ways.”

A staggering thrill shot through her apex, causing her to gasp.

Eyanosa’s grin widened, exposing teeth that were perfectly straight and startlingly white against his tanned face. “I believe you have a task to complete.”

When he started toward her, Renee held her hands out and sidestepped to the right. “Now wait a minute here. This is just a game. None of this is—”

“Real?” He blocked her retreat with a hand on the post next to her right cheek. “Touch me, Renee. Then tell me if I’m real.”

Renee’s mouth dropped to her chin. “How did you know my—”

His palm cupped her chin, nudging her mouth upward a bit. “I knew you the moment you selected my playing piece, as did the others know theirs.”

Before she could thwart his attempt, Eyanosa’s lips closed over hers in a powerful kiss. His mouth moved with such possession it left her knees weak and lungs devoid of air. By the time he released her, she felt as though she were floating.

“Giving readers the O in their erOtica.”

The Lure of The Dangerous Male

As a writer, I strive to make sure my characters are varied.  I don’t want to write the same people over and over again.  But it’s difficult to ignore the fact that many readers of erotic romance love the dangerous male.  I hear readers say they like the nice guy, but they seem to always come around for my bad guys.

My novella Vampire Dreams is a fine example.  The hero of the story, a vampire named Brandon, gets mentioned so infrequently, you’d think he was the doorman I wrote in to help another character with his bags.  Brandon even has a dash of danger to him and visits the heroine each night, seducing her as she sleeps, but he’s nowhere as bad as the villain of the story, Vasilije.  But who do readers always mention?  Vasilije.

Bad boys are popular because they flaunt all the rules and ooze confidence.  They come into a room and everyone looks, immediately noticing the scene has changed and someone special has arrived.  They’re usually so self-involved that they don’t notice everyone else, but no matter.  If they’re mad, bad, and dangerous to know, they’re appealing.

I enjoy writing bad guys. So much of what a villain is can be expressed so well in words, while often the hero seems just so…nice.  There’s nothing wrong with nice, mind you, but as far as I can tell, I’m not the only romance reader who loves the ones who aren’t so nice.

For me, the parts of Vampire Dreams that involve Vasilije were so easy to write because he’s so utterly hedonistic. There’s little he won’t do to satisfy his desires, and if those actions hurt others, he cares little.  From what readers have told me, they adore Vasilije’s badness, and I’ve been asked so often if he’ll be getting his own story that I’ve begun a new WIP that will be Vasilije’s story.  I guess the bad guy wins again.

Here’s the blurb for Vampire Dreams to let you in on the story:
