Elementary music teacher Elijah Phelps is content with his life, but content doesn’t always measure up when the only thing keeping him warm at night is a wine buzz and a vivid imagination. A Secret Santa gift from a mystery admirer spices up his routine, and Eli is in over his head when it seems the two prospects—the sexy Coach Ryan Jeffers and the very tasty Principal Daniel Collins—have taken more than a casual interest in the easily flustered music teacher. Between Christmas concert mayhem, a broken-down beater, and a case of mistaken gaydentity, this holiday season will be one to remember. A new year brings the possibility of new love, but will Eli choose the jock or his brilliant and completely off-limits boss?

A workplace romance that left me smiling.

Eli is precious. I just wanted to hug him when what should have been a beautiful, albeit certainly entertaining, Christmas concert turned into his personal nightmare. Someone was going to beat me to the hugging part and I was dying, trying to figure out if it would be the adorable Coach Ryan Jeffers or the dark and serious Principal Daniel Collins. I was convinced he couldn’t go wrong either way and a tiny part of me was really really hoping he’d get them both. That wasn’t to be but I would ultimately be just fine with that and so was Eli.

Ms. Walsh kept me guessing. First off he has these tiny tension filled little moments with both men and then longer tension filled moments that screamed “It’s him” “No, it’s him”. I wanted to skim to the end so bad just to see which “him” it would be but, I didn’t. Eli is so sweetly unsure of himself and yet he’s clearly attracted to both men. I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed with whomever he ended up with. Through some very humerus moments and one necessary quick exit, I finally had my answer for sure. It wasn’t totally smooth sailing once he finds out the truth behind the gifts but, that’s life.

Told from Elijah’s first person perspective, Santa’s Little Secret is a terrific little short story that I could totally have enjoyed as a longer novella. His secret admirer alludes to time they spent together on school events that didn’t quite gel with how very little Eli said he knew about him. I would have liked to have seen, rather than heard about, some of these instances where they’d had contact. Having said that, Eli is easily distracted so it was believable that he simply didn’t pick up on the other man’s interest.

The men have great chemistry and I wanted to spend more time watching them really get to know each other. I like this author’s writing voice, too. I don’t always enjoy first person told stories but she did a good job. I would like to have been in his secret admirer’s point of view for at least part of the story but that might have taken away some of the tension.

Reader’s who like their MM to be light on the actual intercourse but heavy on the tension and romance need to add this one to their short list of must reads. It was completely enjoyable and fun. I’ll be checking out more of this author’s work in the near future.

Sam “Solo” Braun lives by one truth, the Grave Diggers Motorcycle Club above all. For the first time, Solo can’t stop thinking about a single night he’d spent with a man. When fate intervenes, Solo comes face to face with his blue-eyed obsession only to find out Eric is a cop. Solo hates cops, and so do his brothers in the club. However, Solo decides to gamble everything and spend more time with Eric under the guise of getting information.

Falling in love with a cop is a very dangerous proposition for a man in Solo’s position, so why can’t he walk away?

There’s a fine line between good and bad and sometimes those lines get blurred. So, what do you do when you fall hard for someone standing on the wrong side of that line? Don’t ask either Eric or Solo because neither of them has any idea how to fight their immediate attraction to one another, even when it comes down to a matter of life or death. Neither is willing to give the other up, no matter the cost.

I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like Solo when I first met him. He gave me a bad vibe and not just in that overly macho alpha-biker-male sort of way either. There was something about him and his outlook that put me on edge. However, pretty quickly into the story you begin to see another side of him and he becomes a very likable character. Despite his attitude of ‘I can do everything on my own’ which, considering his backstory is understandable, he knows when to ask for help, not something I had expected out of Solo. He’s a truly mutli-faceted character.

Eric, on the other hand, I had affection for right away. I’ll admit that part of it is his name–Eric’s always been a favorite of mine. But he’s also that wonderful combination of strong, secure cop and warm homebody looking for his lifelong love. He’s the right balance of ‘mundane’ to Solo’s ‘exotic’. I wasn’t positive they’d work, but once they got past the biggest walls separating them, they well and truly clicked as a couple.

Although I’d never thought to seek out a novel about bikers, I’m happy that I chose this one. Both intense and sexy as all get out, Solo is a fast and enjoyable read. Carol Lynne is a new author for me and I instantly enjoyed her voice and the unique and exciting characters she created. I hope to see many more books in this series because I want to know what’s in store for Eric, Solo, and all the rest of the Grave Diggers.

Two top athletes who have so many personal issues to deal with meet and fall in love. On their way to happy ending, they have to go through a lot of trials and tribulations.

I have a very mixed feelings about this story. On the one hand characters are great, complex and well written. I find Dylan (the hero) sweet and gentle and so supportive. The other character that falls under this category of greatness is Lorelai’s (the heroine) friend Margo. She is such a colorful lady and I enjoyed reading about her performing group called Divas.

On the other hand the relationship between Dylan and Lorelai just doesn’t seem real. The reason for that lies in the story which does not focus so much on the building their relationship as much as it deals with problems Lorelai and Dylan face individually. These problems are connected with their performance in their chosen sports and they reflect on their relationship. In case of Lorelai she was just over the top sometimes. If only story was more focused on the relationship between Lorelai and Dylan, and less on how they dealt with their problems by themselves it would have been much better.

Still there are another good parts of the story that I liked, especially the friendship between Lorelai and Margo. They are complete opposites and Margo is exactly why Lorelai need her as a friend.

Although this story was not perfect match for me, readers who like sports romances might find it interesting, as well as readers who are following this series.

Josie Freeman can’t remember the last time she felt safe. Even though she and her family are freed, they’re being pursued by slave hunters hired by their former owner. When their ship is damaged on the way to Nova Scotia, Josie is thrown into contact with the one man she never expected…the very man she had wanted to see. But will her past catch up with her before Douglas can free her heart?

They met under undesirable circumstances. Josie Freeman is a house slave raised on a plantation, on the run chained to others and finds herself in the helpful hands of Douglas Grier, a local blacksmith. This chance meeting was so brief neither were able to exchange names, but as fate would see to it their paths would surely cross again.

I enjoyed Forged by Love and found it to be an inspiring heart warming book. Josie and Douglas are two people left by blood family in a world that could only see and judge them by the color of their skin. Or so they thought. Love of family doesn’t always have to be from blood kin. Josie and Douglas both were fortunate to have love and a family bond from others that have claimed them as family. Being left by his birth mother Douglas thinks that he is alone with no family. Josie is the daughter of a heartless man that sold her mother. Josie finds her way into Douglas’ heart and by the end of the story they both have more loved ones than they realized. It was so refreshing and really touched my heart the pure love that they had for each other and also how the town stood behind them when they were threaten.

The connection between Douglas and Josie was a pleasure to read. Seeing them build and grow from less fortunate circumstances gave their story a honest, and innocent love that is inspiring to read about. I liked that the author showed them in such innocence and that they waited until they were married to have relations. That made their relationship so much stronger and better that they had self-control.

I didn’t want to stop reading until I knew how their story would end. Close to the end of the book, 91% read my Kindle gave me the battery low alert. I was so caught up and excited to find out the out come, but still a part of me didn’t want the story to end. The author has a talent for writing and telling a story that is sure to capture readers. The plot, the characters are realistic and likable and the time in history just makes the story come together in a perfect formula. My favorite character is Dorothea. She is a young woman that is not afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what is right and good.

I would like to read more of the characters on Lobster Cove. This is a book that I would highly recommend for readers that enjoy characters that are against all odds yet they stand forged by love.

Maggie is caught between two loves. Jeremy who has always been there for her; and Tommie her childhood sweetheart who got sent away when they tried to save some wolf cubs. Maggie has always loved Tommie but is her love for him stronger than what she feels for Jeremy?

The setting in Michigan, a place I have never been to, came across as beautiful and mysterious and the Central Mine area just the sort of place to live a peaceful, quiet life.

However, I have to admit I found this book slightly confusing. To begin with the blurb is completely different to the actual story and this made me wonder why it was there at all. Being written in the first person meant it was all in Maggie’s point of view, which ended up being a bit dull. When the mine collapsed trapping those she loved, Maggie seemed to come alive. More of this type of emotion would have enlivened the story.

Wolves brought Maggie and Tommie together when they were younger. Jeremy also brings a wolf into her life when he gives her a wolf hybrid and this gift seals Maggie’s love for the tall miner. With no female kin in her life, and a father who seldom speaks, Maggie tends to rely on Mrs Daume, the village schoolteacher to give her advice.

On the whole this is a reasonably sweet romance story, although I could have done with a bit more excitement from Maggie, although I suppose her character is fitting for the location and the time period of the story.

But nothing worth having is ever easy, and for Sharkorilla, Pugorilla, Kangorilla and Elephorilla, this is definitely the case. They’ve come to the end of one very long, hard and frustrating road, but now, with the help of men who have big hearts, they must shed their fears, accept their bodies, and be true to the desires that burn within them. The only problem is, will they get away with it?

Kangorilla – Joey has it tough. Not only has he been spliced with a kangaroo and a gorilla, he’s also been brought to the other side of the world. Feeling exploited, desperate and wishing he had love, companionship and acceptance, he takes the risk of leaving the compound in the search of happiness. But will he find it? Or has the person he’s drawn to got other ideas? It certainly seems that way as the temperature goes from boiling hot to downright frosty.

Joey might have escaped the lab with his fellow inmates, but danger still tails them. Taking a quick break in a pub near the moors, Joey is smitten by the bar-keep, Ryder and his equally delicious twin Devon. Sparks fly and what was supposed to be a short stop changes drastically as Joey realizes the importance of the twins and the chance they all could take together.

This is a hilariously fun book and bloody sexy to boot. Sit down, shut everything else out and enjoy this fun, hot short story. I couldn’t help but giggle in many places (bent as a boomerang!) even while Joey, Ryder and Devon started to steam up the pages. Despite the tongue-in-cheek aspect of a Kangaroo/Gorilla spliced human, I think Ms. Harlem has done an excellent job balancing out the cheeky good humour and the steamy romance. While I’m sure the plot is meant to be a bit of a lark, I actually really enjoyed it. There are intricacies and issues with multi-animal splicing that I’d never thought of before, and the author does a brilliant job of bringing those in and still keeping the heat simmering nicely.

I found the sex to be blisteringly hot, but also full of romance and a good, deep connection. There was no question in my mind the three sexy men would move forward in their lives together and share plenty of laughs, fun and adventures. While a part of me wished there’d been many more chapters, this gorgeous short story was deeply satisfying. I was also impressed that while this book is clearly part of a larger story – Joey’s spliced friends who had escaped with him – I thoroughly enjoyed this book as a stand alone. I usually can’t bear to read a middle story in a series, but this one really does stand perfectly well by itself.

A fun, lighthearted and sexy romp of a story I found this delicious and well-balanced both as a hot read and as a romantic story of three men coming together. Highly Recommended.

This is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed. The description of the neighborhood and characters were so real it is easy to picture the scenes as they are playing out. The plot is one that could be related to true life events. This is an extremely well-written novel which will tug at the conscience of readers as it takes a hard look at the environmental damage of poorly dispose chemical waste. While reading I couldn’t help but think of the water problems that are affecting Flint, Michigan now.

I like how the author set up the plot that parallels to a normal day’s setting; the characters going about their daily routine set the events in motion and helped the events play out as a movie script. The fear of bad weather and how the news casters were broadcasting the threat of bad weather was played out with details that made the threat seem real. The suspense and circumstances of the storm was enjoyable and had me on the edge of my seat and not wanting to put the book down. I like the quick scene changes because it made the book move even faster and I didn’t have to wait long to catch the events for the characters next few moments.

The author’s grim and brooding novel explores the lives of the people of Niagara Falls during a storm as creatures use this time to hunt prey. The characters were true to life. They were funny and the setting for them is real. Poor Paul Goodman, he was the father of the neighborhood being set out to help and look out for all in the neighborhood. A few times I felt sorry for him and if something did happen to him how would his wife feel? They were a close and caring neighborhood that looked out for each other.

Though I enjoyed the story I was left with a question of why the monster kept some humans alive and why others were killed quickly. Their animalistic instincts and traits were those of hunters. I also wondered why at this particular time during the snow storm did they choose to come out and hunt. Either way, the monster were scary to me with their human like characteristics and features and how they moved about the city.

I enjoyed the author’s writing style so much that I will look to see what other books he has published. The writing was clear, descriptive and easy to picture the characters and the scenes. The strong characters made the storyline that much more interesting and there is always something different happening that had me at the edge of my seat.

This is a highly recommended read for those that enjoy a well written suspense that has lively characters, and a great plot.

She’s a dessert rose stuck in the constricting and harsh world of debutantes and she still managed to bloom brighter and standout.

Hannah was easy heroine to like and to root for. She’s not a simpering miss and while she’s certainly more worldly than the average young lady of the ton, she doesn’t flaunt her experiences and she isn’t cruel. She is confident, though. I don’t like when an author makes the female lead scared of her own shadow, afraid to speak up or walk away when in it’s in her best interest and I had to love it when Hannah admits to herself and Miles that she never lies to herself. That doesn’t mean she allows herself to indulge in every whim or desire but, she honest in that she what she wants.

I like Miles, too. He’s a middle child of a large family and he does what the middle child tends to do. He draws attention to himself by any means necessary, regardless of the positive or oftentimes negative results. I thought it was interesting, his reaction, when he realizes that not all attention is good. When his reputation, though unfounded, nearly costs him the girl. In the end, the author gave me hope that while Miles may see humor in almost all situations, he was mature enough to know when to follow his heart.

This is a quick little read that I would have easily enjoyed as a much longer story. Hopefully, Ms. Sandas will someday decide to revise this and let us meet the other cousin whose tales of ruination led Hannah to try to hold Miles at a distance. I’d like to have seen her reaction to seeing them so very happy together despite her lies. Also, I really really wanted to see Beatrice get what she deserved. What a twit! I hope she has to a marry that awful stick in the mud Lord Hathmore. They deserve each other. Lastly, there’s Grimm. Bless him! I want him to find a love match either with the woman his father wants him to marry (that would be a nice surprise) or with someone else and then he can stand up to his father say he’ll marry who he wants to.

Those kinds of thoughts are what let me know I really enjoyed a story. I’m able to imagine it drawn out further, side characters having larger roles, unexpected surprises. I walk away still thinking about the book. That’s a good read.

Regency historical romance is my first love in books and this was a satisfying read. I’ll be following this author to see if she continues this story in other books or simply to check out her other offerings. She has a clean, clear writing voice that put me right into the scene. The details are on target for the time period and I look forward to slipping back in time with her again.

A renewed friendship with childhood buddy Michael Montgomery.

For years, Michael pretended to be Faith’s husband to fend off unwanted attention, gave her a shoulder to cry on, and cheered the loudest when she left home for fashion school. Through it all, he never stopped loving her.

Time hasn’t dimmed the spark between them, but when another man hits on her, Michael realizes it’s time to stop hiding his true feelings. This thirty-one-year-old professional photographer is ready to pose for his own family portrait—with Faith as his wife.

Warning: Contains a photographer who’s through being pictured in a brother-ish light, and a fashionista who’s not sure her heart is quite mended enough to risk further alterations.

Michael Montgomery has always loved Faith McClendon. And at the age of 13 he proposed his love to her and foretold that she would be his forever and ever. Faith didn’t believe him. Life happened and Faith ended up marrying Kevin Harrington. Faith has returned home recently divorced and Michael finds that his feelings for Faith still remain.

The book started out slow and for a romance novel and was wordy with an overboard of details that made the story too long and drawn out. Later it felt like a build up as I enjoyed Michael loving Faith from a distance. His antics on trying to show her how he felt were adorable. I didn’t like once Faith recognized Michael’s feelings how quickly they acted on impulse. Faith didn’t see Michael as a love interest but when his feelings were revealed they went from zero to one hundred. Yes they knew each other years ago as children and young adults but people change. To me I would have liked to see them get reacquainted not just jump straight into bed.

I enjoyed the family bond and closeness. The family had fun, they are loving and had family traditions. I like the idea of the best dish contest that the family held each year during the Thanksgiving holiday. The women were entrepreneurs and held a strong stance. These factors made the book an enjoyable and inspiring read. The author seemed to write with her readers in mind. Faith had her issues with her prior marriage but eventually was able to let that baggage go leading to her opening her heart to love again. Many readers probably face this dilemma and will find it refreshing to read that there isn’t much opportunity of finding love again unless you open your heart and take a chance. And being the book is a holiday series the author shared recipes that are sure to complete any holiday family gala.

The writing style was easy to follow and the plot was pretty simple but the extra with Kevin gave the story a little twist that I didn’t expect.

Overall this was a pleasant read and one that I would recommend for those that enjoy a strong family bond.

While Goldie responds beautifully to his training, will a weekend at the club be one step too far, or can she be the sweet sub the siblings need? Revealing their bears might very well make Goldilocks live up to her name.

Goldilocks scent has been caught by not one but three bear shifter Doms. There’ll be no running when they catch her in their bed.

I’ve read some pretty imaginative versions of fairy tale rewrites in my time but the premise of this one caught my attention for it’s originality. I think it was the inclusion of a sister bear as opposed to three brother bears. How would the author develop a relationship between Goldie and Cat since Goldie would be mate to all three? I expected some F/F interaction but I wandered about how they would treat her outside of being a mate and sub as well as human. My interest was piqued and I couldn’t wait to dive in.

The story opens with some pretty serious sexual tension once Jason literally gets his hands on Goldie. That whole opening scene was both hot and entertaining partly because his bear really really wanted out to play. Like most fated-mates type stories, Goldie has very little control over her reactions when Jason is near. She appears to be a confident woman with only book knowledge of the BDSM world but accepts Jason’s challenge when he gives her “homework” and then proceeds to check her progress at his discretion. That part was a little odd but I chalked up his choice to examine her so intimately in a not so intimate setting to the fact that his bear needed the constant contact and ability to keep her on edge.

Next I met Jacob. Like his slightly older brother, he’s serious about being obeyed but I could tell right away that Jacob would be the more lenient Dom. Yes and no. He is a giving lover but he doesn’t let her get away with anything any more than his brother would. I liked Jacob, though. He represented safety for Goldie and this world she’d stepped into was on the harsh side of scary. She needed him.

“Cat was intense at the best of times.” That was an understatement. I’ve never had a dominatrix fantasy and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Having said that, just like Goldie needed the difference in personality that Jacob provided to the group, she embraced what Cat could give her as well. It took longer to warm up to the idea but once she saw beyond the exterior, saw the woman underneath, it made accepting her mates a lot easier.

This is not a light BDSM book. It’s not a fluffy shifter book, either. Bears growl. A lot! And they like to bite. A lot. Goldie’s reactions to everything she’s subjected to is pretty realistic. Being a part of their world is overwhelming and surreal. I had pity for her but at the same time I expected the intensity that comes with mating a shifter.

Readers who look for the fated-mate type books with an edge should check this one out. It’s a very naughty twist on the classic fairy tale that took this reader down a rabbit hole full of surprises.
