You Have Been Murdered and Other Stories is a collection of weird, speculative fiction containing four stories dealing with the end of the world, both in terms of the death of the individual soul and the running down of the universe as a whole.

The title story presents a woman who’s been murdered and still has a dinner party to prepare for. In “Teller of Tales,” a young girl must take on the responsibility of being the necessary conscience of her city. “Breach of Contract” describes the plight of an oil man who just wants to insure production quotas, but is roped into saving the world. Lastly, “The Trouble-Men” details what happens when a man trying to survive the end of the world meets up with those who are ending it.

Prominent names in U.S. cialis generic pills society and the media have taught us that when something is wrong with us we should just “take a pill” to cure the problem. As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I feel that this is a problem that cannot generic viagra online be cured, or if they know that cure for this condition exists, they are too busy, to help feed the frail and elderly. Andrew Kozma’s fiction has been published in Drabblecast, Albedo One, Fantasy Scroll, and Daily Science Fiction. His book of poems, City of Regret (Zone 3 Press, 2007), won the Zone 3 First Book Award. His previous collection of short fiction is The Year of the Stolen Bicycle Tire and Other Stories.

Life as you know it can change in an instant. Are you ready?

The title of “You Have Been Murdered” gave away its premise: you are the main character, and you’ve just been murdered. The odd thing is, you’re still able to walk, talk, and do almost anything else that the living are able to do. This storyline captured my imagination immediately. I couldn’t wait to find out how the main character would react to such an unusual post-death existence. The surreal ending worked perfectly for a tale that mixed science fiction and the ordinariness of real life so seamlessly.

“Breach of Contract” followed an oil company employee who was trying to negotiate with a Native American tribe who had been purposefully damaging oil wells and other equipment that the company owned. While most of the short stories in this anthology were able to fully share their ideas in a handful of pages or less, this one would have really benefitted from some more development. Everything moved so quickly in it that I struggled to keep up with what was currently happening. I also was never quite sure what the narrator’s motivation was for sticking around once they realized what was going on with their assignment.

In “Teller of Tales,” Susan was determined to see a mysterious group of visitors called the Rustics even though her elders had barred children and teenagers from being in the same room as them. There were so many unexpected plot twists that I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. I also enjoyed how much attention the narrator paid to the small details of how Susan’s community worked and what the main character thought of what was happening around her. I can’t say anything more specific about this without giving away spoilers, but it was really well done.

It took me a little while to figure out what was going on with “The Trouble-Men.” The main character in it has tried a few different techniques to deal with a horrifying group of creatures who can kill a person in an instant. What I found slightly confusing at first was how little time was spent describing who the Trouble-Men were and why the protagonist was so terrified of them. This confusion was quickly cleared up, though, and once I knew what was happening I shuddered my way through the rest of it. This was by far the creepiest section of this collection.

I’d recommend You Have Been Murdered and Other Stories to anyone who enjoys imaginative science fiction as much as I do.

No one can resist Victoria Leung. She’s beautiful, brilliant, and fearless. Since leaving the fraud department of the Hong Kong Police, she has enjoyed her new status as senior detective at Pegasus, an international security firm based in London. She climbed the ladder by taking down Sun Hung Kai Properties’ Kwok Brothers, a real estate empire, and earned the nickname “The Flying Dragon” in the process.

On an otherwise typical morning, Victoria receives a panicked message from her close friend Diana Yu asking for help: Diana’s ex-lover, Henry Chang, is in grave danger. Bertrand Wilmington, head of the derivative trading desk of a global bank, has fallen from a window of the twenty-second floor trading room, and Henry Chang is somehow involved. Perhaps with Victoria’s help they can clear his name and reveal the secret behind Wilmington’s death.

Otto Warburg http://appalachianmagazine.com/2017/03/30/michigan-mother-targeted-because-she-shares-name-with-politician/ viagra cheapest wrote inside of a paper that cancer couldn’t exist while in the presence of sexual motivation. However, it is usually viagra 100mg sildenafil hard to find these natural ingredients. In a few rare instances you may note a sudden increase levitra on line in heartbeat, rashes on the pores and skin, and problem in inhaling and exhaling. While Hong Kong and Mainland authorities attempt to crack the case with little success, Victoria puts her experience as a banking auditor to use. Her expertise is critical in discovering key clues, and she won’t back down until she gets answers. As she searches for the truth, The Flying Dragon quickly becomes enmeshed in a web of arrogance, power, money and sexuality. Will she expose the corruption and bring down a financial giant?

Victoria is almost too good to be true. She’s pretty, sexy enough for both sexes to want her, she knows martial arts, and she’s a good detective. Right now she’s an expert at fraud. She’s had success in her previous case and she expects she’ll figure out what’s going on in this one, too. That is, as soon as she figures out what the case is.

Mr. Ugeux is a global financier by trade and it shows in this book. He writes a tight tale that takes place in China. There are political implications, fraud, and murder included in this tale. He talked a bit more about numbers than I wanted to read about but the tale was good enough to keep me reading.

Victoria starts by trying to help her cop friend’s ex-boyfriend. He’s gotten in over his head and wants help to get out but he’s not telling her the whole story. He works in the office where there has been a suicide recently. It was put down to stress in the office but Victoria is not sure. Especially after she talks to his boyfriend and his parents. The man was quitting his job and getting ready to move. He wouldn’t commit suicide…

Greed leads people into bad places. Some people think they are smarter than they are. That all comes into play in this story.

Our states are still fighting about the equality of men and women but China is still stuck a century back or so. Victoria has to use her fighting skills to keep from being man-handled. The fact that she was visiting with the gay man involved with the “suicide” victim gets her almost raped. However, it turns out the man who was trying to rape her just happened to work at the same company as the “suicide” did. She uses that clue to dig further into the case.

This is complex case but Victoria works her way through it and keeps your attention as she asks more and more questions.

This paranormal book was full of surprises that easily captured and held my interest until the very last page.

I’m always delighted to find another sexy shifter story, but this one turned out to have some of everything. The plot was loaded with rich emotion, intrigue and mystery, and steamy passion, and several surprise twists. I liked the main couple and their pain and angst pulled me into the story like no other. Viola had suffered so much and continued to do so throughout the story, but she never let the adversity of her life break her. She was a refreshing change from most of the heroines who I sometimes like at first until they turn into the helpless damsel who has to be saved by her man. Viola had been forced to take care of herself and spurned by everyone in her clan. It made her strong but she still had compassion and forgiveness in her heart. It took me a minute to warm up to Titus because of the way he got off on the wrong foot with Viola. Their relationship was tense and fueled by misunderstandings from the outset. He believed she was cold hearted and acted harshly towards her. Partly because he was attracted to her but felt guilty for wanting another woman after his “true mate” had rejected him. It didn’t take long for him to learn the truth and begin making amends but by then there were complications, secrets revealed and rescues to be made.

All in all this book was well written and the characters were wonderful. It had interesting secondary characters that I realized some were from previous books so that means a series that I had somehow missed. That was good news to me since I am always pleased to discover a great new series to read.

I enjoyed this book and happily recommend it to paranormal readers.

Is there any way these two, being so very different, can find love?

Sam Crescent did not disappoint with this book and it came as no surprise to me that I loved every bit of Daisy and Maria’s story.

Some things remained the same in this one, although the main characters were unique in their personalities. Daisy was a man who needed to be in complete control but he was also incredibly sweet and romantic. Maria had been in love with Daisy forever and it was just fine with her if he wanted to take control of her. She still stood up for herself though and I liked that the author took some time building their relationship.

This story was centered around Daisy and Maria, and the usual suspenseful drama was minimal. That being said the plot was well crafted and had a couple of side stories that were intricately woven into the thick of things. There was some family drama as the club goes through some growing pains and a promising conflict for Matthew and Luna, and for Knuckles and Beth. All this means is more great books to come from the Trojans MC.

This book was an easy read that left me looking forward to whatever Sam Crescent comes up with next.

The novellas in this 14-story boxed set—these are genuinely cute stories. Because of the length, there is not a lot of character development nor deeply developed plot, but a type of “slice of life” look at these people and their pets.

The stories are each just the perfect length for a reading at one sitting and they are all sweet. While you can get the sense of the love between the characters, you don’t have the heat and passion you might have in other books—and that’s not a bad thing, especially given the shortness of the stories.

My favorite stories that I read were The Vet’s Valentine Gift– J.L. Campbell, Her Perfect Catch – K.L. Brady, and Trembling Hearts – Suzette Riddick. They were all good and I would love to read other stories by all three writers, but my absolute favorite was Campbell’s The Vet’s Valentine Gift. I didn’t love it so so much for the romance, but for the secondary characters. Matthias was a great guy, but completely clueless when it comes to what Toni needs (it took his mom and a co-worker to clue him in) and I felt Toni was bending over way too much to accommodate her ex, even though I understand where she was coming from. However, there is a secondary character that stole my heart—Toni’s daughter, Jade. She is just too precious for words and much too wise for her years.

The best part about reading anthologies with short stories is finding new-to-me authors and this book is chock full of them… I’m excited to read more from these writers and am glad I got the chance to read this anthology.

THE WICKEDEST SECRET . . .

Major Nathaniel Grey is free to bed whomever he wants, whenever he chooses, and that’s exactly how he likes it. His only loyalties are to country and the two friends he served with-brothers he’d do anything for. So when one of them is gravely injured and asking for his little sister, Grey will move heaven and earth to bring her home. He’s greeted not by the gangly girl he remembers, but a stunningly beautiful woman holding a loaded musket. And he’s utterly captivated by her . . .

Once upon a time, Emily would have loved nothing more than a stolen hour with her brother’s best friend, the dashing officer who captured her heart and soul. But things are different now-and so is she. Gone is the eager young woman who believed in love. In her place is a widow weighed down with secrets who desperately needs to disappear before they’re revealed. But Grey’s sinfully sexy smile offers protection unlike anything she’s ever known, tempting her to risk everything . . . even her heart.

This is a great standalone read with plenty of interesting characters, thwarted lovers and a mysterious stalker threatening the romance and the future of a baby. There’s a lot of scintillating dialogue and compromising positions to keep the pages flipping. There is tormented angst too. Along Came a Rogue is the second book based on the friendship of three men forged in war and now they must find their way in polite society. They are exceptional men, and the women who love them are just as fascinating.

The book begins in a naughty manner and depicts the hero as a shallow, callous rake whose only concern is himself. That initial perception is tossed out the window once a reader gets to meet and join Nathaniel Grey on his journey to love, and the truth. However, his way with women benefits the object of his adoring obsession, Emily. Some of those scenes were delightfully wicked.

Emily has loved Grey even as a young girl but it was thought to be that of an innocent miss and was written off as an infatuation. A reader finds proof that it was so much more and yet there are so many obstacles in her path on realizing her love for Grey as the woman she has become that it’s a bit daunting. Emily has some nasty surprises visited upon her during the course of the novel but she never comes across as a weak victim. I liked her strength, her daring and her love for her brother, Thomas. She does tend to play into the martyr syndrome a bit too much for my liking but I was happy the way the author eventually handled it.

As far as the villainous aspect in the story, the author threw out some cryptic comments, a look or two at the right time and added in the puzzled interpretation by the heroine and that’s all it took for me to figure out who were the bad elements in the tale. I felt bad at one point when it was revealed as to the reason for a couple of the actions but once I realized just how damaging they could have been, all bets were off. Justice was correctly served – with relish.

Along Came a Rogue is exactly what historical romance fans look for. A lady who has to stand tall at a time when women where restricted by decorum and in doing so, grew in personal conviction, bravery and fortitude; a man who respected the woman Emily grew up to be and was willing to stand by her even when she sent him away; and a wonderful physical and emotional chemistry between the two that eventually leads to a happy ever after that satisfies on every level. Now the only man of the initial trio left unattached is Thomas. Since introduced to Edward, Grey and Thomas in the first book, Dukes are Forever, I have been hooked. And Along Came a Rogue has only whetted my appetite for more. It’s a fun and romantic series so far and I can’t wait for what comes next.

The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come has had enough. No more being the third act in a make-them-repent performance, terrifying people with visions of death. But after twenty years as a faceless wraith, rebellion has consequences.

On the night of December 23rd, 1875, she becomes human—and lands facedown in the snow beside a shabby house. Wearing nothing but her shroud.

As is his custom, banker Justin Welland plans to spend Christmas with his nose to the grindstone. Finding a near-naked woman on his doorstep not only startles him out of his careful routine, “Laura Snow” makes him want to discover the secrets behind her slightly eccentric behavior, her beautiful eyes—and her ability to walk through a wall into his bedroom.

A sizzling kiss rekindles the warmth in Laura’s body and soul. But when a mirror shows her a vision of blood and death, she realizes that if she abandons her ghostly role, someone—maybe Justin—will have to take her place.

Warning: Contains a tightly buttoned-up banker who creates a special Christmas for a woman, and a ghost who discovers being alive has some unexpected…benefits. Also, a kiss that will curl your candy cane.

I have seen the holiday classic many times in all its incarnations but this is the first time I’ve ever seen anyone tackling the life, or unlife, of one of the ghosts of Christmas. This little novella is clever, fascinating and engaging. Ms. Perera treats the subject with the respect that it deserves but adds in a little romantic whimsy that is entirely charming.

The ghost of Christmas Yet to Come actually has a heartbreaking history that is shared with a reader. It garnered my compassion and empathy for a life cut short and her ensuing job as the third ghost in the classic tale. It’s not made clear exactly what she did to get booted from her once a year job, it might have been action or thought or emotion but the result is her landing in a heap on a snowy evening as a human – sort of. Her name is Laura and she’s a delightful contrast of world-weary and innocent, knowledgeable yet ignorant, enthusiastic yet cautious. It’s those inconsistencies that pique the hero’s interest, and Justin finds himself contemplating emotions and memories he’s buried for years. Laura causes conflict in the best way possible and what happens after that is a subtle magic.

What I liked about Justin was his ability to really listen, focus and not be prone to hysterics. I mean, who wouldn’t freak when they saw a person walk through a wall? Yet, the author had established a relationship between Justin and Laura that allowed the hero to not discount what his eyes witnessed and that spoke well to his personality and my belief that he’s a good guy for a hero.

Even though the story is short, they manage to believably fall in love in the time Laura has on this plain. The novella is gently told with a sweetness and patience that belies its briefness. There is more emphasis on their reactions to each other, how in tune they are to one another and how Laura’s very presence inspires Justin to want to be a better man, to be more and remember the dreams he once had when he was younger. All those little touches appeal to the romantic in a reader’s heart and it’s beautiful.

Laura’s ghostly duty allows her to see the future and it’s a dark one for Justin. But is his future written in stone? That’s the suspenseful part and it was well played. I really liked how the author handled the solution. It was freaky, spooky and effective. The description gave me tiny goosebumps.

Christmas Yet to Come is a short shot of shivery goodness and romance. It combines eerie with hope, and sweetness with the shadowy challenges of life. This is a story not to miss just because it’s so unique and entertaining. The happy ever after is chuckle-worthy and as satisfying as a reader could wish. It’s a definite recommend.

Howard was such an interesting main character. What I liked the most about him was how much time he spent trying new things when a previous idea didn’t work out for whatever reason. This is exactly the kind of behavior I’d expect to see in someone who has his occupation. Observing him do it so often made me like and trust him even more than I would have otherwise.

This story included a lot of telling the readers what a scene was about instead of showing me how it was unfolding. As excited as I was by the premise, I had trouble emotionally connecting to the characters because of this disconnect. It would have been so helpful to have more details about what was happening and what Howard and Linda were thinking about as they worked on their case together. This is something that I was really expecting to love. It included many important elements of what I look for in a great book, but this specific issue made it hard for me to lose myself in the plot.

The horror themes were handled nicely. It’s rare for me to stumble across a mystery that includes this kind of material, so I was quite interested in seeing how the author was planning to blend them together. What surprised me the most about the horror was how quickly it began to show up. This wasn’t something I was expecting, but it did work well with everything else that was going on.

Give A Stalled Ox a try if you’re in the mood for something dark.

Fairies are creatures of great and powerful magic. Many use it for Good, others for personal gain by blessing the children of royalty—and some fairies want nothing more than for people to suffer. And what could be more devastating than stripping away something that shapes the very core of a person’s identity? What better way to punish a kingdom than to remove its only heir? Yes, a cruel fairy could do much by changing the body of a lone prince.

Curses don’t always turn out the way the person who created them intended for them to happen.

One of the things I liked the most about this book was how much time it spent showing what everything in this universe looked and felt like. From the scenery to the clothing, everything was described in so much detail that I almost felt as though I could reach out and experience it for myself. The food sounded delicious, the castles seemed like they’d be comfortable places to stay, and most of the clothing was appealing as well.

This story included a few different subplots that came from classic fairy tales. While I was amused by the idea of multiple happily-ever-afters occurring in the same time and place, having so many of them competing for attention in something this short did slow down the progression of the plot. I would have preferred to spend more time focusing on what was going on with Wynn’s life as she certainly had more than her own share of adventures.

Wynn was such a sweet and likeable main character. Her personality was well developed, and her willingness to rush into a strange and possibly dangerous situation fit in perfectly with that. She was exactly the kind of person who I would expect to behave that way because of how many examples the author gave of her making similar kinds of decisions as she grew up.

I’d recommend The Fairy’s Gift to anyone who enjoys this genre as much as I do.

Sonar the Cyclone is the second book in the Sonar series, which began with Sonar the Crashing. I would highly recommend reading the first book in the series, because a lot of what happens in the second book will not make sense if you don’t.

The four royal young people who had crashed on earth are now back on their home planet with their memories restored. However, the actions that occurred in the first book still haunt them, making it difficult for them to move forward. But, when the planet is threatened, they put aside their insecurities to help save their home.

The book has a lot of good qualities. There’s definitely a lot of action and the romance is solid. However, the book could have done with a good content and grammar editing. There was an over-dependence on –ly adverbs that took me out of the story, some misspellings, some phrases that seemed unwieldy. The dialogue seemed forced and it was hard to really connect with the characters.

As I said, though, there is a lot of action and the plot itself is quite interesting. Even with the issues in the book, I was invested enough in what was going on that I wanted to find out what was going to happen next. The book ends with the planet on the brink of war—and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.
