She might look like an angel…

The moment orphaned American heiress Titania “Tansy” Danforth arrives on English shores she cuts a swath through Sussex, enslaving hearts and stealing beaux. She knows she’s destined for a spectacular titled marriage—but the only man who fascinates her couldn’t be more infamous…or less interested.

…but it takes a devil to know one…

A hardened veteran of war, inveterate rogue Ian Eversea keeps women enthralled, his heart guarded and his options open: why should he succumb to the shackles of marriage when devastating good looks and Eversea charm make seduction so easy?

…and Heaven has never been hotter.

When Ian is forced to call her on her game, he never dreams the unmasked Tansy—vulnerable, brave, achingly sensual—will tempt him beyond endurance. And fight as he will, this notorious bachelor who stood down enemies on a battlefield might finally surrender his heart…and be brought to his knees by love.

Sometimes first impressions can be quite misleading…

At first glance, Miss Titania Danforth seems like an angel. Her eyes, as her guardian the Duke of Falconbridge notes, are the color innocence would be if innocence had a color. But as he soon finds out, Miss Danforth is not quite what she seems. Titania, known as Tansy, is an incorrigible flirt who can’t resist trying—and generally succeeding— to captivate every man she meets. When she meets the duke’s brother-in-law Ian Eversea, however, her polished charm deserts her.

Ian has plans for his life after the army and the East India Company. He intends to sail the world—China, India, Africa, Brazil—and he’s saved enough to money to be gone for years. His plans definitely do not include falling for an innocent young miss, no matter how vigorously she pursues him. Ian is a rugged, strong, battle-scarred man who doesn’t necessarily fit the traditional Regency mold, but that just makes him a perfect match for the equally unconventional heroine.

When Tansy and Ian meet, it doesn’t go well, and I loved that she makes such a negative impression on him because she’s trying too hard. He’s unimpressed with her because all he sees is a forward, importunate miss who’s too innocent to know what she’s playing at, and she’s too dazzled by his looks to see beyond them or even maintain her poise. As the book unfolds and they begin to know each other better, they see beyond those initial impressions to the real person underneath. Each of them is burdened by the past, and eventually they see their own pain reflected in each other. It’s a depth of characterization that makes for a satisfying romance.

I will say this story may not be for readers who like lots of authentic details and atmosphere in their historical novels. The author presents nineteenth century England as an essentially classless society where sergeants move in the same circles as captains and duchesses hang out in kitchens. Despite its light-on-history feel, though, I enjoyed the story for its own sake. Nor had I read other books in the Pennyroyal Green series—this is the ninth one—but I never felt confused or left behind. The author often refers to the stories of other characters, but she gives enough detail that I don’t think familiarity with the previous books is necessary for the enjoyment of this one.

Overall, this is a fun, absorbing read that presents a lovable heroine and a sigh-worthy hero. I think any historical fan will enjoy it.

Morgan Dunsmore feels like everything is out of reach–a paying job, a healthy marriage, even a good bowel movement. In the middle of it all, he starts to lose his tangibility. He may be able to walk thru walls, but that ability comes with a price. He has to learn not just how to control it, but how to use it without anyone finding out, not even his family. He doesn’t want to become a circus freak or government test subject while providing for his wife & kids, but there doesn’t seem to be any honest work for a man who can secretly phase through solid matter. The temptations, on the other hand–the temptations are endless, & when he succumbs to the first, the rest begin to fall like dominoes…

There are ways to help a woman overcome this problem, but none of them have the same level of convenience and ease of use that a dose of viagra prescription has. It isn’t easy to adjust to a superpower that appears out of nowhere. This is even more true when the upside of having it seems to be overshadowed by the drawbacks.

What Morgan needs more than anything in life is a break. His emotional and financial troubles are explained in such excruciating detail that it almost felt like a memoir at times instead of a fictional story. The strained but loving relationship between Morgan and his wife only solidified my desire to know what what happens to them next. He has been with her for so many years that this reader learned more about his personality and character flaws from their interactions than I did from his inner monologue.

A little too much time was spent focusing on the main character’s adjustment to his newfound ability. While the first few scenes are well-written, Morgan’s shock lingers just past the point of believability. Had this section of the book been a little shorter it easily would have earned a much higher rating as the plot quickly picks up speed once he begins to play around with his powers.

With that being said, the pacing in the rest of this book is excellent. The creeping dread I felt as I anticipated what would happen next kept me engrossed in the plot. I figured out some plot twists ahead of time, but Mr. Larsen includes a few surprises that I never saw coming. I don’t know if he has any plans to write a sequel, but there is definitely room to revisit these characters if he chooses to do so. This reader would be very interested in hearing more from Morgan in the future.

The horror and science fiction elements in Losing Touch are sneaky. This is a tale that slowly creeps up and only reveals its sharp teeth at the last possible moment. For this reason it’s a great choice for anyone who is new to either genre and would like a small taste of what they have to offer.

All the pleasures and none of the pain, that’s what Cynthia Buckingham wants in a relationship these days. A one-night stand with Jonah Colt seems to fit that bill perfectly. Newly divorced, she’s too busy planning her daughter’s wedding for any serious involvement. Besides, her true passion is helping victims of PTSD reclaim their lives.

Waking up after spending the night with a woman he barely knows, Jonah is stunned to realize sex for the sake of sex isn’t enough for him anymore. A veteran of more military battles than he cares to count, he wants to forget it all and focus on peaceful civilian life. Except flashbacks won’t allow it.

Falling for Cynthia makes Jonah regret his weakened state, but he’d rather hide the truth than face it. When she sets aside everything she believes in to help him heal, can he accept her help–and her love?

Given that Ms. Hoornstra sets If Only You Dare smack in the middle of the difficult emotional background of a PTSD victim and counselor, you may be forgiven for thinking this will be a depressing and difficult read. It is neither.
One can feel any of the side effects for a lot of persons. generic prescription viagra check out that Miami is a well known global city and it is the major center as well as leader cialis price in finance, commerce, culture, media, fashion, education, film, print media, entertainment, the arts and international trade. The author’s heroine, Cynthia Buckingham, is a well intention-ed, and well-qualified PSTD counselor. She’s read the books, passed the exams and helped victims face their future with all the tools they need.

Or has she?

War veteran, Jonah Colt, has seen it all, and survived to return home, but the memories, experiences, guilt and regrets are his constant companions. Never-the-less he’s managed to glue over the cracks and make a presentable life for himself – until he bumps into Cynthia Buckingham in the hallway of the local courthouse – and then his life changes.

The author’s characters take the reader through the trials when practice meets theory and the effects it has on her hero and heroine in a realist and sympathetic manner, and with a light touch that took this reader right into the situation. I felt Cynthia’s frustration, and Jonah’s anger. I watched as they struggled to overcome major differences and sympathized with both while wanting to knock their heads together on a couple of occasions.

Ms. Hoornstra’s writing style offers an easy read, provides clear settings and a smooth transition from scene to scene. Her character’s have depth, both in their strengths and their flaws. Her minor characters balance the struggles her hero and heroine have with learning to trust, that while they ‘listen’ they truly ‘hear’ what the other is saying.

In a short story this author has used a difficult subject to create believable characters, and a charming, easy-to-read, sweet romance.

The biggest mistake he’s ever made could get him killed.

The Skulls have a set of rules, and Nash has broken one of them. He’s using drugs. Since Sophia rejected him, Nash has been spiraling out of control. When he puts Eva’s life in danger it’s up to Nash’s brother Lash to save him from himself.

Sophia never realized the protection The Skulls provided her until she was attacked. Lash saved her but with an ultimatum. She helps save his brother, or he makes it known she’s not under Skull protection.

One amerikabulteni.com order viagra online of the best examples of peptides in our daily life are quite painful. Other men were best buy viagra only when they wanted to have another child so that her daughter wouldn’t be an only child. A man should take only buy viagra online 100 mg of sildenafil citrate. Sophia’s feelings for Nash have always been her weakness. As she keeps her word to his brother, trying to help Nash overcome his addiction, the two of them grow closer through his pain, and Sophia realizes she cannot run any longer.

However, The Skulls’ enemies are numerous, and Nash’s careless behavior has exposed the whole club to danger. Someone is plotting against the club in the hope to take control of the town, and they’re going to start with Nash. Can he stay strong as his life and that of his woman are endangered, or will he relapse into the drugs?

Nash is another good addition to The Skulls series. I liked the story, though I had some mixed feelings about the writing. It was the plot itself, and the wonderful characters, that kept me interested for the entire story.

I found myself in shock at some of the unexpected things that happened in this book. It had a great plot that I’ve not seen a lot. I hated seeing Nash hit rock bottom, but I loved how the author handled his journey back from drug addiction. It wasn’t pretty, and I think Sam Crescent did it justice. It was pure raw emotional drama. While I loved Nash, I never quite warmed up to Sophia. She changed her mind with the wind. She pushed poor Nash away time and again. Then Lash throws some attitude and suddenly she changes her mind. I’m sorry but I didn’t buy it.

This book had a lot of stuff going on, and it was this that kept me reading through the many grammar mistakes that seem to be a recurring problem with this author. It was fast paced with everything changing from minute to minute. This book gets into the club dynamics, as the Brotherhood is tested from inside, as well as from an outside threat. Friendships were born and alliances were strengthened. While respect had to be earned back as relationships were tested. The author threw a lot of action and suspense into this one. An old enemy with an insidious plan is lurking around and causing plenty of trouble for the Skulls.

Now, for my very favorite part of the book. As usual, Sam Crescent burns up the pages. Once Nash came off his leash, the love scenes were sizzling hot. The love scenes are not for the faint of heart. There was some anal play, some spanking and bondage as they made up for lost time.

I liked this book for the characters and the story. Some parts were hard for me to read, when some of the characters let their dark sides come out to play. I loved that. While I liked this one, it did have some bad grammar that got on my nerves. Lucky for me, I was able to get past that and still enjoyed the book. I look forward to Tiny and Eva having their own reckoning in the next book. I enjoyed this book, and I would recommend it.

The two dracambri, powerful dragon-shifters, have Lily’s profile. They know she’s hot as the inferno in her blood. They know the temptation they will face.

And unlike the human men Lily’s been evading all her life, Bane and Darek can keep up with her. They can bring her pleasure like she’s never known. But will the bond between the three of them be enough to make Bane and Darek risk everything?

I enjoy dragon shifter stories, so this one caught my eye, not only because it was dragon shifters but because there is a forbidden love aspect since dragons and idanas are not supposed to mix.

Bane and Darek, are both strong male characters that both want Lily, they hadn’t planned to share a mate, but when they meet Lily, they both feel a pull to her as their mate, so it becomes obvious they need to share.

Lily was interesting, because she knows nothing of being an idana, so when the men first meet her and accuse her of being evil, she is completely confused. That adds a fun twist that easily allows the world to be described in a convenient and believable way.

I really enjoyed this story, it’s a very erotic story, and the scenes were well written and very hot. I really enjoyed the flying scenes, it was refreshing for a story with dragon shifters to show them in their dragon forms so much.

It’s entertaining, has the forbidden love aspect and a fated mates story so it moves quickly. I recommend it to fans of shifter stories.

If you diagnosed with STDs, then you need early treatment to get rid of the condition. Ellie jumped at the chance to do a work/study sabbatical at the SpiralStone retreat in an effort to find direction and maybe a little enlightenment about the universe. A self-proclaimed physics geek, Ellie loved to study and experiment. Up until recently she enjoyed her position at the university but an episode with an employer had left a bad taste in her mouth and sent her running for some peace and quiet. She thought she’d found it until she met the two hot guys who worked the dining area of the retreat. Too bad hot guys never gave this geek a second look. These aren’t two ordinary hot cooks and they see something in Ellie that will give this scientist a real reason to question what she thinks she knows is truth about the world around her.

First off, keep in mind that is a short story, a quickie. And it’s erotic. There isn’t a whole lot of room to world build. I didn’t expect, and certainly didn’t want, the author to load it down with background details. Ellie has a family that isn’t exactly close and a self-image problem. One of the guys did something that got them in trouble and sent to the retreat for their own safety. That’s the background basics. The plot of this novella is centered on Jake and Kyle finding a way to get closer to Ellie. They know she’s interested, they can both sense it and smell it but, it’s going to take some finessing and convincing to get Ellie to admit to it. When they do finally get her where they want her, it’s explosive. Seriously, the sex is hot in this one no matter if they take her together or separately.

There were a couple of things that were a little hard to buy in this story. She’s supposed to be a physics geek, a scientist, but other than over thinking why the guys would be into her and how she was going to handle being with two men, she could have been any other non-science type. The other thing that I didn’t feel like I quite understood was the whole reason why the guys had been sent to the retreat. I got that it was in a neutral zone and they were supposed to be safe from a rival pack there but then a little skirmish happens and then it’s over. I guess that whole scene felt a little rushed. It had the purpose of getting Ellie to admit to what she wanted but it was almost too convenient. Also, I was expecting at least a little M/M action. It’s hinted at, they tease her with the possibility, but then… nothing. Honestly, I was able to look over her supposed profession and the guys issue with the other pack but the lack of bromance when it was teased was probably the most disappointing part.

I did like the characters individually and as a grouping. Did I mention the sex is pretty hot? Ellie is sweet and I did buy that she couldn’t see how Jake and Kyle could want her individually much less together. It made their first time together that much more anticipated and frantically tense but in a good way. I also liked both Jake and Kyle. Hot inked werewolves who sense their mate… what’s not to like?

Read this book for what it is rather than with expectations of the next great novel. It’s hot. It’s quick and it’s satisfying. The characters are easy to cheer for and the setting was interesting. Readers who don’t have a lot of time but need an erotic paranormal ménage fix, this is one I’d suggest they go for.

Author Interview and Giveaway: Shawn Martin

Long and Short Reviews welcomes Shawn Martin whose latest book Forget Me Not is released today. Forget Me Not is the second book of the Shadowflesh Series. Leave a comment for a chance to win one of two print copies of the book.

The books in the Shadowflesh Series are as follows: Shadowflesh (February 2013), Forget Me Not (March 2013), Invisible Ink, Shadow of Doubt, and Nevermore (the last three TBA). Shawn subscribes to the theory that even though a picture is worth a thousand words, a poet believes a word is worth a thousand pictures–so he tried keeping his titles concise, using words that were rich with passion, lament, fear, and dreamy imagery.

“If, for example, I had called the books Aileen’s Story, Aileen’s Other Story, etc… the titles may have been accurate, but they wouldn’t have made anyone’s world move. Titles should make the ground quake and the skies swirl,” he explained.

Much of what is in Shadowflesh and Forget Me Not was taken out of the pages of Shawn’s personal experiences. He encountered bullies and intolerant religious types and outcasts who hid in the shadows. In fact, the outcasts–the group who belonged to no group–was the group he hung out with in high school. They hid themselves from the bullies, or simply hid from themselves. He has known both love and pain, life and death. He has seen dreams come true and nightmares shatter hearts.

“Somehow I had managed to survive those years with my memories intact, without reconfiguring my past to conform with the future I had constructed,” he said. “Of course some of the paranormal elements were spawned in my imagination, but they were nourished from both the darkest and brightest days of my teen years.”

For the last several months, Shawn has been working on the third installment in the Shadowflesh Series, Invisible Ink.

“I had found myself with the book nearly finished, but felt it lacked the passion and promise of the other two books. That was likely a grim reflection of my personal life,” he admitted. “However, my darkness has been vanquished, and light is shining on both Invisible Ink and my life once again. I’m spending my nights rewriting the story and hope to have it out sometime next year.”

Shawn began writing fiction during his high school days. I asked him to tell us about some of his early writing.

“Everything from a touching tale about a killer whale falling in love with a submarine, or a musical play about a lonely girl trapped in an insane asylum, all mirroring the time when Alice had been admitted to Wonderland Memorial, or heart-wrenching excuses written to school counselors telling them why poor Shawn had missed school the last three days because he had saving nuns lost in a cave,” he said. “Ten years ago, I spent serious time refining my art, hoping that one day it would rise up to the level of being a talent. After many Zen moments of near success consumed by the dragon of failure, my status went from amateur to pro in February 2013, with the publication of Shadowflesh.”

“Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?” I asked. “If so, what do you do about it?”

“When writer’s block comes to visit, it often plans on staying a while. It robs the psychic nourishment from my mental fridge. It kicks me out of my bed, steals the remote, and worst of all, runs away my muse—that super-secret inner voice which whispers words into my pen and breathes life into my soul. I fight writer’s block by forcing myself to get a change of scenery, a change of perspective, and a change of attitude. Writer’s block doesn’t like change, and he often slams the door and leaves. Then my muse comes wandering back home, ready to tell me about her adventures.”

Shawn told me that he doesn’t invent his characters as much as he meets them, just like he meets people. He will find himself immersed in a situation or event, where new and interesting people cross his path, and he gets to know them.

“So, really the plot, in its rawest, brutish form, comes first,” he told me. “Then I meet the characters, and they blossom like a rose nearly a week after Valentine’s Day. But then once I get to know my characters, the plot grows and details emerge, and more characters are met. And so on, and so on. Plot does indeed come first, but it is woven in with the characters so much that it’s easy to lose sight of where it all began.”

“What is your work schedule like when you are writing?” I wondered.

“I have to balance my writing schedule with the other obligations in my life. While I’d like to be one of those old Victorian authors in his oak paneled study puffing on a pipe in his red velvet smoking jacket, writing, writing, writing, I live in the 21st Century and am a slave to our times. I work as a firefighter, which has my undivided attention 24 hours out of every 72. I don’t write on duty, so that gives me two days to devote to my stories. I prefer the late evening into the early morning hours for writing. My inhibitions are low and my creativity is high, a perfect combination for spilling ink onto paper.”

“Now, a fun question. Have you ever eaten a crayon?”

“Wow, what a question! I’m afraid the answer is, yes. I’ll offer this explanation, which should never be interpreted as justification. When I was young—grade school young—and far from my finest moment, I had upgraded from the standard sixteen crayon box to the exquisite sixty-four crayon box. The colors had such fascinating names, such as mulberry, and mulberries sounded absolutely delicious. The crayon looked so ripe, and I thought, what could be the harm? One nibble later and I was sorely disappointed. It tasted nothing like any berry I had ever eaten. It more closely resembled wax and made my teeth feel gummy. Since then, I’ve sworn off crayons.”

“Thanks for stopping by! And, good luck with the new book.”

“It was a joy sharing a little about myself with you, and I want to offer a big Thank You to Long and Short Reviews. Never stop reading, dreaming, and living.”

Prolonged stress can crack even the strongest person. Brian is no exception to this rule, but if he wants to help his wife he has to figure out a way to stay whole.

The most important thing any good ghost story needs is the right ambiance. Mr. Shea sets the eerie tone for his tale early on, and from Brian’s very first encounter with the paranormal I looked forward to seeing what the author had in store for his characters. The setting was so subtly frightening that I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.

As the plot unfolded I returned to the question of Cassandra’s health over and over again. After how close her family came to losing her I had some trouble believing that her doctors would send such a fragile patient home with what only seemed to be part-time nursing care. This became even more true once I realized that none of her relatives worked in the medical field or had any previous experience with any of the machines that are keeping her alive. It would have been helpful for this issue to have been addressed in more detail early on.

At several different points in the narrative the perspective switches to a secondary character. Each switch happens quickly, and at first I was a little thrown off by how fast it occurs as well as the short amount of time that is dedicated to their experiences. Eventually I understood the author’s reasons for including these scenes, though, and I do think the story is stronger because they were included.

The chilling ending is ultimately what earned this tale its rating. While I figured it out in advance, it fit in well with everything that I learned about the characters in earlier chapters and sent a cold tingle down my spine. One of the reasons why I am such a big fan of the horror genre is how fear can bring out the best and worst of us. This tale is a good example of how that works.

I stayed up late to finish The Waiting, although I wouldn’t recommend doing the same to anyone hoping to get a good night’s sleep. It’s much better to read this book in the middle of the day while ignoring any unusual shadows or heavy footsteps in the corner of the room.

Clover has a peculiar effect on men—they turn into homicidal lunatics. She decides to swear off men and gives up her dream of the perfect boring suburban life. She hadn’t counted on finding a very large, very yummy Viking in her favorite part of the library courtyard. Clover finds she has to trust this Viking, because she’s in danger from gangsters hunting her to collect on her brother’s debts.

Rune is a thousand-year-old Viking trying to escape from a curse. He must fall in love with the woman the gods choose for him or suffer eternity in Norse Hel. Nine times he’s tried and nine times he’s failed. This is his last attempt. Resigned to his doom, he vows to save Clover from the gods’ petty games before his death. As the last round of the gods’ game begins, Rune discovers there are worse things than losing his soul.

A book that can make me laugh out loud or giggle is a keeper. Spell Bound not only has a terrific sense of fun and adventure, it also has a lot of heart and enough external and internal conflict to keep me wide-eyed with fascination. It has spells and curses, and the most wicked of all is the curse of a very devious and obsessive compulsive Loki.

I had my first taste of Ms. Weylin’s writing style in the short story, Dark Forest. As amazing as that snippet was, I wondered at the time what she could do with a longer story length and I found my answer in reading Spell Bound. She knocked my socks off.

The only reason that this book isn’t a solid five star book was because the editing wasn’t flawless. There was a word spelled completely wrong and a few words that should have been plural, but weren’t. Truly, those are the only issues with this story. I cannot fault anything else. I loved the hero, Rune. A man who’s lived under a curse for a thousand years, he has had the time to become bitter and angry but he never did. It’s said that once a man meets the right woman, he’ll be a better man. It certainly is true in this book. With Clover, he finds himself wanting to be truthful instead of feeding her a rehearsed ‘safe’ line that he’s used with every woman before. He found that he could laugh with Clover and eventually, learn what to love and be loved is all about. This tale is as romantic as a book can get.

Clover is simply adorable. Okay, so she cries at the drop of a hat but what would be annoying and weak in another character, is a sign of strength and character in the heroine. It’s endearing and how it affects the hero is profound. In fact, it’s one of the things he ends up loving about her. You have to read the book to understand why. The heroine is funny, clever, interesting and well rounded. Clover and Rune are spectacular together.

My absolute favorite section of the book is when Rune met his biological dad. As soon as Clover quipped, “These are not the droids you are looking for”, I was a goner. What came after was one of the most fun dialogue and character interactions I have read in a long time. It’s what made this book go from a good read to a fantastic read. I could relate to Clover because she loved the same movies I do and she conversed the same way as I do with my own friends – movie quotes. Ms. Weylin is an author after my own heart.

Ironically, the villains of the tale aren’t necessarily villainous. They’re…like Loki in the recent Thor movies. Not totally bad, certainly not virtuous, just gods being gods – you know, bored, moronic, petty and prone to self-centeredness. When Rune tells one of them a glaring truth, it was pivotal. It showed me that he finally did understand what true love was about, and his words struck home as probably nothing ever said to a god before had ever done. It wasn’t until the ending that I got to see the fruit of Rune’s words. Again, it’s romantic. And sweet and yes, even humorous. However, there is one true villain in the piece and his demise is short, sweet if a little gruesome. But then again, what can one expect from a Viking and a Celt?

Secondary characters are key. I liked Law and want to know more about him. He has his own issues but Ms. Weylin certainly fleshed him out enough while he helped Clover and Rune for me to want to see him find his own happy ever after someday. He’s intriguing and sexy in his own right.

Speaking of sexy, when Rune and Clover get together, it’s steamy, sexy, romantic, sometimes funny but in all ways that count, perfect. I loved the build-up, the seduction, and when they finally culminated their passion, I was a very happy reader.

Spell Bound is a true delight and a worthy read for any paranormal romance reader. It has an adventurous race against time, the breaking of curses, mixed up family dynamics, laughter, sexy seductions and a happy ever after that can inspire an ear to ear grin. I heartily recommend this book and this author to other readers. Ms. Weylin sure knows her craft and I’m thrilled I discovered her.
