Time Conquers All…

Led by Lord Milo the Undying One, the men of the Horseclans are slowly reuniting the continent once known as the United States of America using the strength of their swords and their very special mental talents. But the Ehleenee, too, have dreams of power—dreams that have led them into a full-scale religious war of conquest.

Lord Milo must enlist the help of men like Bili Morguhn, whose skill with axe, sword, and mind control makes him a natural clan leader, if he is to contain the menace of the Ehleenee rebels and save civilization from destruction…

Religious wars of conquest are unfortunately all too common throughout humankind’s history. The Cat of Silvery Hue tells of yet another such war, this time in the future. The story is fast-paced and filled with action. I enjoyed reading about the mental powers which play such an important role in the plot. Some people are able to communicate telepathically with others, and those communications can take place over great distances. And I liked the horse/rider bond that some characters share, where the horse and rider are able to communicate telepathically as well.

Robert Adams has written a story rich in details and descriptions. I did think that the use of very unusual names was a bit of a distraction. Names such as Eeshmahehl or Kweebehkeekos were difficult to manage and there are very few characters with names that come easily to the tongue. In addition, the dialogue was frequently very dialectal, which also added a degree of complexity to the reading. I am sure this was done for atmosphere and authenticity, but I personally would have preferred more pronounceable words and less dialect.

Adams has written a very violent book as well, which makes sense because he is portraying a war. There is an unrelenting outpouring of both physical and sexual graphic violence, with almost no break. I found the violence to be more intense than I generally want, but at the same time I do understand why the author felt it was an integral part of his story.

I enjoyed several of the characters, especially Geros Lahvoheetos. He found himself in battle and suddenly after he “had accidentally lanced one rebel and cut the throat of a second while his mule trampled down a third, he had been living in the very lap of his former fantasies. With his young master, the Vahrohneeskos Ahndros, kept unconscious by the arts of Master Ahlee, the physician, there was no one to betray him, to reveal the sad truth that he had never been aught save a body servant and musician, who had always privately considered himself to be a coward.” I really enjoyed watching Geros develop into a brave fighter, learning the difference between being afraid and being a coward.

This novel is the fourth in The Horseclans Series, which contains eighteen novels in its entirety. If you are a fan of fantasy novels about war and conquest, then this series might just be what you are looking for.

But when their lips meet, he tastes something other than revenge. He tastes the passion that never died. And now he is tempted to lay aside his thirst for revenge and risk his heart a second time in the greatest gamble of all.

Fancy a historical romance without the overindulgence in etiquette? This novel does this from the start when protagonist Miranda invades a gentleman’s club for help.

The pace of the piece is fast and does not let up. In many ways, the story resembles modern day thrillers but, of course, without the modern scenery. This is no bad thing; it widens the book’s audience.

The right amount of description is used to cover the historical environment without impinging on the plot. However, sometimes the narrative becomes a little stilted with statements like ‘touched him thus’ and overly complicated words such as ‘impecunious’. Occasionally clichéd terms are used too such as ‘a caged tiger’ and ‘real hell living without you’ which are in need of a more original comparison. Thankfully, these are rare and the narrative usually is skilful in guiding the reader through a well-depicted historical country and town life without problem.

The plot itself is intriguing and, much like the pace of the novel, twists the stereotype of historical romance to include elements of fiction not usually seen in the genre. There is bargaining to be done in a male dominated civilisation and a balance of cost and reward to weigh up. This is a delightful departure from the shall we shan’t we get married stereotype and is a move towards the darker side of the historical era without being stingy with the bedroom sparks.

In Chase Tinker’s world, magic, lies and secrets can be a lethal combination…

Thirteen-year-old Chase Tinker can’t understand why he has the power to move things with his mind. Besides that, his dad has been missing for over a year, causing his mom to be too upset to pay much attention to her sons, so now he’s been busted for shoplifting. As if this isn’t enough to worry about, his younger brother Andy suddenly has a weird magical ability too.

Can things get any crazier? Chase thinks.

Then, a grandfather they thought to be long dead arrives at their door. He wants Chase and Andy to come visit him for the summer so they can learn about their supernatural heritage and why they have magical powers in the first place.

The boys soon find out that Grandfather, along with their cousin Janie, lives on a remote island in the middle of Puget Sound in an out-of-this-world house where fantastic magic can be found in practically every room, stairway and corridor. Chase can’t believe their dad has been keeping so much from them.

It’s an even bigger shock when Chase learns that all their magic is controlled by a very powerful and mysterious Relic in the attic, and if anything happens to this relic, every bit of Tinker magic will be lost forever. He’s even more disturbed when he learns his family has a dark and powerful enemy that is determined to steal all their magic, their house and their relic.

Now Chase must find a way to stop these evil beings, while at the same time figuring out what has happened to his dad, unraveling even more Tinker lies and secrets and not letting on that he has a huge crush on the housekeeper’s daughter.

What would you do if you had magical powers? If you could stop time or use telekinesis, how would you use these powers? Chase Tinker and the House of Magic is the story of two brothers and how they come to discover not only their own powers but also the powers which all members of the Tinker family have. Included in all the magic is a fantastic house where each room has a different power. The Tinkers have used their magic over the centuries for good, but now a dark and powerful force is out to destroy them all.

Malia Ann Haberman has an incredible imagination which she has used to great effect in this novel, the first in a series. The descriptions of the rooms in house of magic are great fun. The room which is sure to win the hearts of adolescents, especially boys, is the room where any kind of food or liquid can be produced and it comes squirting out of the wisher’s nose. And then there is the room where extra eyeballs attach themselves so that the user can see out of the back of his or her head. But Chase Tinker and his friends thought that “one of the best rooms by far was where they were able to change into any bird they wanted.”

Ms Haberman’s characters are also very engaging and true-to-life. She does an excellent job of portraying the world through the eyes of a thirteen-year-old boy and his friends. The adults are suitably protective and hence there are secrets to uncover and lies to sort out. Chase and his friends feel, as that age usually does, that they can handle anything, but when things do get out of their control, they demonstrate the maturity to realize that they are in trouble.

The story itself is exciting and well-paced. I found myself totally engaged in both the plot and the characters, and I ended up reading the novel in one sitting. I can recommend this fantasy to all who enjoy watching what magic can do, and personally, I plan to keep reading this series to find out how Chase and the rest of the Tinkers cope with dark evil.

Where’s the Fine Line… Between darkness and desire Need and oblivion Pain and pleasure A man as talented as Sinner bass guitarist Jace Seymour needs a woman who can beat out his self-doubt… A woman as strong as Mistress V needs a man she can’t always overpower… And in each other’s tight embrace, an escape from harsh reality is always a welcome diversion…

Hot Ticket is Jace’s story in Olivia Cunning’s Sinners on Tour series, showing the inside of a rock band on tour. Ms. Cunning has a deliciously hot world, with rock heroes who each have a vulnerable side, and strong women who love them and can handle the problems inherent in a relationship with said heroes.

It uses actions aesthetic and therapeutically to get goals which are significant to a person and when a person fails to make proper erections it is then the need of these firms comes. cheap generic tadalafil It improves ejaculatory force pills cialis to enjoy enhanced pleasure in the bed. Male sexual confidence plays an super cheap viagra important part for the quality of erections. A man cannot think of having sex with sildenafil 100mg price his woman at any age. Sinners is on tour, and having the time of their lives, along with some very uncomfortable complications. At the bachelor party for lead singer Brian Sinclair, Jace Seymor, bassist for Sinners, newest member of the celebrated band, is captivated by one of the dancers at the club, Aggie Blake. Aggie plays the part of dominatrix in the club, and in real life as well, and Jace needs what she can provide: pain and lots of it. Before they can connect, however, a fight breaks out and the band has to leave. Jace returns as thing calm down, and Aggie gives him her business card and an appointment for the next night. Aggie had noticed him in the club, the man with the face of an innocent and a body made for sin, and although she isn’t looking for a man, he works his way into her life and into her heart. She wants to help him heal the many hurts inside, so he can stop punishing himself, and for the first time in her life, Aggie is willing to give up control to a man. And for the first time in his life, Jace is able to begin to open up and heal the rift in his soul. Can Aggie help Jace overcome the pain from his past? Can Jace convince Aggie to take a chance on him, with all of his baggage? Together can these two wounded souls forge a future with love?

I like this world, my guilty pleasure is rock music, the heavier the better, and the bands that play it. I enjoy these peeks behind the scenes that Ms. Cunning provides, and the intrigue of wondering if she based a specific character on someone real in the business.

Jace Seymor is the strong silent type, with wounds that go deep in his soul. With a tortured past, he needs the release that pain brings him, and feels he needs to be punished. When he meets Aggie, she is the first woman who accepts his kinky side and doesn’t tell him he’s sick for it. As he grows closer to Aggie, he begins to learn more about himself, and slowly is able to see that there are people that really care about him. I like Jace for his sensitive and sweet side, and enjoyed watching as he was able to show it more as he and Aggie grew together.

Aggie Blake has never felt the need for a man in her life, at least until Jace Seymor came along. Something about his blond hair, innocent face and hot body draws out her desires and shatters the walls she keeps up against the world. I like Aggie for her honesty and her no-hold-barred attitude toward life. She is strong and independent, and watching her as she learns that, with the right person, submitting doesn’t mean weakness. She has never had a man like Jace, able to take it all and still respect her as an individual. I liked watching as Jace surprised her, over and over, warming the heart she didn’t know she still had.

This is one of the hottest of the Sinners on Tour books yet, with Aggie and Jace pushing each other’s limits until they both discover just how strong they can be together. These two are not perfect, but they are perfect for each other, and I enjoyed some of the scenes in Aggie’s dungeon as they explored each other’s boundaries. The action, and the sex, is definitely not for the squeamish, and if you aren’t sure about BDSM, this is not the book to read. I do recommend that these be read in a certain order, to get the proper sequence of events from the tour as Ms. Cunning has let it unfold instead of treating this as a standalone read. But be warned, this has one hot rocker with the face of an angel and the body of a sinner, and the woman who whipped him into love.

Jilted bride? Check. Hangover? Check. Shotgun? Double check. Wayward groom’s half-brother Colt on her porch the next morning, hat in hand, concern in his sexy blue eyes, and apologies on his full kissable lips? Uh… Check?

That was six months ago. Now, with a job she loves, her heart mended and her pride put back together, the last thing Chrissie expects is that same half-brother standing behind her saying he’s got an answer for her. Problem is, she can’t seem to remember what she’d said on that long ago day that would warrant a visit from him.

Colt does, and as the CEO of a cookie company, it’s his job to pay attention to the details. “Maybe I should have married you instead.” She’d been right. He was the brother she should have married and all he has to do is convince her of it with a blend of persistence and seduction.

But their first kiss is hotter than the southern Georgia summer and catches him off guard. She’s primed and ready to burn up the sheets and he’s not inclined to say no. Will she believe that he won’t ever leave her? Maybe. If he brings her cookies…

The premise of this story drew me in, the idea of a jilted bride falling in love with her ex-fiance’s half-brother was such a new story line I had to read. Ms. Matthews didn’t disappoint, this is a fun, sexy lighthearted read. She made me believe in love at first sight and in fate.

Chrissie was raised to be a perfect Southern debutante, but she doesn’t really fit that mold. She likes guns, hunting, beer and living on her own. I think Colt catches her so off guard because he is a CEO so she expects a jet setter, but all he really wants is a down home country girl.

Their relationship moves quickly but somehow it works, I really felt the connection between the two of them. They burn up the sheets and spend a lot of time getting to know each other.

I recommend this book for the sweet treats, spunky heroine, and a man who knows his heart and goes for it.

Green Pines, Book 2

Lorelei Adams has lost many things—her humanity, her life, even her son. She’s always fought through her exhaustion, always stayed strong for her pack, but now there are new alphas to take care of the others. Unfortunately, time to rest means time to think about her own pain.

Colin Knox knows about exhaustion. He’s acted as judge, jury, and executioner to rogue wolves for over a decade, but never lingered long enough to help the survivors pick up the pieces—until now. Lorelei rouses his instincts, both protective and carnal. She’s willing, but only to indulge in physical distraction. Colin wants more, to be the hero who slays her monsters.

Especially when it becomes clear that malicious magic is loose in their sanctuary. The danger draws them together until it’s impossible to separate lust from affection, good intentions from rationalizations. Darkness is stirring at Green Pines. If they can’t fight it together, they could lose everything they have left.

Haunted Wolves is the next book in Moira Rogers’ Green Pines series, and the world in this one has grown to include not only the original pack lead by Jay and Eden, but others, from the Memphis pack and other places as well.

The Sanctuary at Green Pines is coming along nicely. The folks who came with Zack are settling in, getting their internet/mail order business up and running to provide an income for the group. Life is starting to settle down, and as news of the Sanctuary begins to spread, a few families from other areas begin to drift in.

Lorelei Adams knows that things are better here at Green Pines, but before she can completely settle in, she needs to make one last trip to Memphis, to put her past to rest completely. When Colin Knox decides to go with her, she thinks it is for a totally different reason, and Colin quickly assures her that, as unofficial pack Beta, he wants to make sure there will be no further danger from the Memphis pack, and also just to watch Lorelei’s back. He is attracted to her, and hopes she feels the same, but he assures her that she makes all her own decisions, and he will never put her in the position she was in before. Meanwhile, at Green Pines, things are tense, with strange sightings, strong magic and dangerous activity in the dark of the night. While Colin and Lorelei grow closer and trust develops, the past is haunting them both. After their return to Green Pines, tragedy strikes, and everyone fights for survival in the face of an invisible foe.

I like this world, and being there from the beginning of establishing Sanctuary gives an insight into the strengths and weaknesses of the people involved. I like these people, and was happy to see that they are self reliant but willing to accept help when needed. It was fun seeing Stella, the young witch from Red Rock Pass step into her own by becoming the resident witch for Green Pines, and she makes a great addition to the community there.

Lorelei Adams has always been strong, even before she was turned by the corrupt alpha from Memphis. Now that he is gone, she needs to revisit old haunts, seeking to reclaim her sense of self. She is strong, smart, and loyal to those she cares about, willing to do whatever she has to in order to protect her pack mates. She is attracted to Colin, but thinks he isn’t interested when he doesn’t respond to her as she is used to. I enjoyed watching as she came to realize that Colin was interested, but was giving her the one thing she really needed, a choice.

Colin Knox has been a lone wolf and an enforcer, and now he has taken on a new role; Beta to Jay Ancheta’s Alpha at Green Pines. He is strong, protective and loyal to his friends, and thinks he should keep Lorelei at arm’s length to show he respects her right to choose for herself. He is clueless that, by being her friend, she thinks he isn’t interested. I liked Colin, with his sense of honor and fairness, and liked watching as her and Lorelei grew closer on the trip back to Memphis. I also liked that he knew exactly what she really needed to secure her position at Green Pines, a small but important piece of her past.

There are some surprise twists in this that I never saw coming, and they brought the danger closer to home here. The secondary characters are as well defined as Lorelei and Colin, and I got a sense of each individual’s strengths and weaknesses. I found the progression of Colin and Lorelei’s romance achingly delicious, and the power when they finally accepted each other was extremely hot and sexy. I wholeheartedly recommend the Green Pines series for shifter fans, but keep the ice water close, and plentiful.

Andrea and her husband John’s dreams come true when they move to a small town and buy a wonderful old house. Weird things begin to happen and Andrea investigates the past to find out what happened to the original owner of the house.

I enjoyed reading this book and trying to solve the mystery. I urged Andrea not to be taken in by her dreams, I wanted her to stand up to her husband, and most of all to let her own self shine through. In the beginning I found her to be a reasonably strong woman, but as the story progressed I became more and more irritated by her husband who seemed to be domineering and always wanted his own way.

Andrea seemed to let things slide as she became more caught up in her dreams and research. Fair enough John had a right to get irritable, but I thought he was more worried about how Andrea’s moods affected him, rather than what was making her so unhappy and moody. One more negative I found in the final few pages. I’m not going to put in a spoiler, but I would have preferred a different ending as the story seemed to finish up in the air.

Nevertheless these were minor irritations to be pushed to one side as the main story evolved around Andrea. She became a very real person to me and as mentioned above I was cheering her on all the way, or urging her not to take another step in a particular direction. I have to admit I did guess some of the outcome, but my guess could just as easily have been wrong so I had to read on to find out the truth. I love the way Andrea manipulated those around her when she really wanted something. A lovely main character, with the story fitting round her like a glove.

Every Prize Comes with Complications…

A game of chance saves James Collington from the prospect of debtors’ prison, and grants him ownership to Tethering estate. Little does he know that his winnings come with serious complications–not least of which is a beautiful but impoverished young lady who insists his new manor belongs to her.

If He Can’t Stop Her, He Might as Well Join Her…

Felicity Wilcox is determined to run Mr. Collington off her land, Though James’s charm and devilish good looks are a serious distraction. What she doesn’t know is that she may be haunting him right back.

Life can be serious and abound with problems, so finding someone to be playful with and relate to even when working at cross purposes is a treasure not to be overlooked. Felicity Wilcox and James Collington spark that sense of fun from their first encounter and lure the reader into a delightful story that page by page carries everyone along as Felicity and James find their way through a maze of actions and decisions that give the reader an absorbing vicarious experience.

However, the honest, natural fun and the playful then consuming love that emerges are best of all.

James Collington has always been a goal setter and then follows through regardless of the hard work involved. His work ethic and his single-minded focus on putting his family’s affairs to right get thwarted by the delectable Felicity and the feeling she ignites in him. Her haunting antics set them up for a BIG change in their lives. He has some huge decisions to make about his life and his efforts. His Aunt Miranda who seems a little ditzy at times says just the right thing at the right time to set him free from long-held believes that he had to set things right without regard to his personal desires.

Crispin Markham, the vicar who has a past with Felicity and Felicity’s father help move the plot along. They both think they know what is best for Felicity to do with her life. She listens then sets a course to find her own way before a future she does not want is forced upon her. James’ family does their part to influence his and Felicity’s relationship. Lydia and Alice, James’ little relatives attach themselves to Felicity and help reveal a special facet of both Felicity and James’ personalities.

Emily Greenwood does a wonderful job of luring the reader into the lives of the hero and heroine. She captured and kept my attention from the initial scene of Felicity falling in the creek to the very end with living in a tent in Spain with eyes toward bigger things to come. All the way to the end, Ms. Greenwood delights the reader with a touch of mischief and humor. Best of all she infuses a heartwarming love that leaves the reader feeling all is coming right for the two characters that came into their own. Great entertainment!

Cal of course doesn’t believe his good luck and has to run away several times. This isn’t a bad plot but it’s predictable and requires the reader to want to believe. There’s no real reason why Matt, a well-connected millionaire, would instantly fall in love with a homeless man but if you get beyond that then the story is a nice read.

Cal, the narrator, is very well developed with Matt considerably less so. Cal’s fear, pain, and indecision are exceptionally written. I got chills a couple of times thinking of what Cal had been through. At the same time there doesn’t seem to be a good reason for all his suffering, other than ignorance perhaps. Thus I would alternate between feeling sorry for Cal/rooting for him and being frustrated with his stubbornness. Additionally his demands at the end of the story seem a bit unreal.

For the most part I enjoyed reading the romance between Cal and Matt. It’s not believable but then again I didn’t care. I wanted to feel them fall in love and beat the odds. I’m not sure they’re actually in love and get a HEA but it’s a nice story with a positive theme. Readers who particularly enjoy the rags to riches idea will probably enjoy this.

On Quinnipeague, hearts open under the summer stars and secrets float in the Sweet Salt Air…

Charlotte and Nicole were once the best of friends, spending summers together in Nicole’s coastal island house off of Maine. But many years, and many secrets, have kept the women apart. A successful travel writer, single Charlotte lives on the road, while Nicole, a food blogger, keeps house in Philadelphia with her surgeon-husband, Julian. When Nicole is commissioned to write a book about island food, she invites her old friend Charlotte back to Quinnipeague, for a final summer, to help. Outgoing and passionate, Charlotte has a gift for talking to people and making friends, and Nicole could use her expertise for interviews with locals. Missing a genuine connection, Charlotte agrees.

But what both women don’t know is that they are each holding something back that may change their lives forever. For Nicole, what comes to light could destroy her marriage, but it could also save her husband. For Charlotte, the truth could cost her Nicole’s friendship, but could also free her to love again. And her chance may lie with a reclusive local man, with a heart to soothe and troubles of his own.

To me, Sweet Salt Air is to be savored without haste. I realized immediately that I didn’t want to race along just reading for story. I wanted to soak up the ambiance of Quinnipeague Island, just off the coast of Maine. I wanted to vicariously experience the distinctive smells, the feel of the wind, the sand and rocks along the beach, all the things that excite the senses. I especially wanted to be a part of Charlotte Evans “going home again” and reconnecting with her dearest friend.

The uniqueness of the islanders enchanted me while the primary characters made me want to comfort them—assuring them that they were loved. Their emotional needs are almost palpable. Barbary Delinsky helps the reader see into the deepest recesses of these characters’ hearts.

Charlotte Evans, a successful freelance, world traveling writer, finds Quinnipeague still the island of her memory, a place she’d exiled herself from more than ten years ago as well as absenting herself from her dearest friend Nicole Carlysle. Now back on the island and with Nicole to help her complete her cookbook of Quinnie recipes and people who use them, Charlotte is beset by the old guilt, heartache, and misery that she has tried so hard to outrun these many years. Even though she is independent, self-sufficient, with an edgy attitude, she wants the closeness back that she and Nicole had for so many years. She wants redemption. Her strengths and weaknesses and the way the author reveals them is riveting.

Charlotte’s unexplainable yet undeniable attraction to Leo Cole, the island’s former bad boy and now recluse, has something of a magical aura about it. The nights, the environment pregnant with scents of herbs,, their working together with few words, and the vast difference in their life styles give the reader a feeling they are in a world all their own when they are together—disconnected from the real world. The melding of these two strong personalities is not without pain, but it also has humor, joy, and life-changing needs and emotions that are spellbinding. Leo Cole’s story is startling and compelling.

Nicole, sweet, giving and with a childlike voice, needs to reconnect with her strong dearly loved Charlotte. She not only needs her help to get the cookbook ready for publication, she also needs her for emotional strength to get through the ordeal she and her husband Julian are dealing with—a four-year-old secret that is eating her alive. Her emotional wounds are so deep; if they’d been physical, she would have bled to death. Nicole seems like such a fragile little soul, but the strength Charlotte brings out in her is magnificent as it comes into its own.

Julian, Nicole’s famous doctor husband, creates a firestorm that influences the plot time and again. The lives of those who love him most get battered unmercifully in the storm. How he and Nicole cope with the devastation in their lives squeezes the heart to the gasping point.

Nicole’s mother is a secondary character that flounders but finds her footing as she and Nicole suffer grief, harsh words, and fear. The subtle ins and outs of their relationship show the reader the unbreakable ties of mother and daughter love.

The most intriguing part of the story, to me, is the evolving of Charlotte and Leo’s relationships. One can almost believe that his mother Cecily, the mysterious herb lady who is dead, is still orchestrating events. The unique scents of Jasmine, Valerian and the power of the elusive red clover makes one wonder ‘what if’.

Barbara Delinsky takes her flawed characters, so human, and plops them down on an enduring island with its unique people who have a culture all their own. She transports the reader into that world so apart from the bustling world most people are used to. Her exquisite writing style with amazing descriptions, attention to detail, hint of magic, and love that lifts up and sets the heart singing makes Sweet Salt Air an absorbing novel—a story to enjoy to the very last word.
