Rio Duncan is one of the youngest children of the Duncan clan. With no solid position in the family business like his other siblings, he has been feeling out of place and decides to disappear. Rio leaves his Duncan identity behind and goes on a search for friends and family who can relate to him. His destination is Baltimore, and he is sure to find what he is looking for in the city with a community like no other. There, he also finds unexpected trouble.

Corey Grant is making a name for himself in Baltimore with an inherited drug empire and a complicated relationship with his right-hand man. With plenty on his plate, Corey has almost no time for the romance he wants with Dre, and he feels like they are growing apart. That brings about a jealousy and insecurity that he doesn’t know how to control.

Diana Black is Corey’s girlfriend-for-hire, and she has a taste for bad boys. She is loyal to Corey’s cause, but how long will that last?

Rio’s personality and flair instantly gains him entrance into Corey’s circle. Rio says he’s looking for friends, but Corey is sure that other motives are on the table. When Rio has a change of heart about his newfound crew, he needs an escape plan. There is one problem: his family doesn’t know where he is. Did he inherit any of the ruthless traits he observed in his father and brothers? Can the most colorful Duncan son get out of Baltimore and back home safe and sound now that he’s on his own?

The Duncan family is known for having plenty of action and drama and even though Rio is the baby of the family the drama he brings to the family measures up just the same as any of the other Duncan children.

As a fan of the Family Business series I appreciated seeing Rio in a different light and to read a story of him on his own. Rio isn’t feeling the love and attention from his family. He’s feeling like he isn’t understood and that he doesn’t bring value to the family as his other brothers and sisters do. He decides to take a break away from it all, partly to see if his family even notices that he’s gone and partly to do what Rio enjoys – have fun and enjoy the luxury of his lifestyle. In the big city of Baltimore, trouble surely does find him.

In this story Corey, Diana, Dre and Pierre are introduced. Corey Parks, owner of the night club Wet Dreams, has inherited his father’s drug business. In his line of business, Corey has a secret that he feels can’t be told so he take measures to cover up his secret. Corey also owns Chic World where Diana works as a sought after fashion stylist. Rio’s desire for fashion is how he meets Diana. And so it begins – this is a quick read with a moving plot that Carl Weber is known for. I didn’t want to put the book down until I had finished the story. The authors touched on a sensitive subject of sexuality, those that fear it and those that also hide from it. The story was done in good taste but some of the name calling could be offensive to some readers.  Also, this book has a same sex relationship, though there’s not any sexual action, I still feel the need to mention this in my review since the character’s sexuality is heavily mentioned in the storyline.

As with the books before this author knows how to keep the readers interest. He’s a professional storyteller whose characters range from ordinary to eccentric to treacherous. Rio is the eccentric portion of that, and readers will also find the treacherous side in this read. That’s what makes his writing so entertaining the plot is attention catching but he also has well developed characters that draw the readers into their thoughts and mannerisms. Reading his books is not just a story it’s getting to really know someone.

There are secrets that will be revealed. My attention was so focused on one portion of the plot that I didn’t realize there was more to it until it was revealed.

I enjoyed reading Rio’s story and I can say that Rio can hold his own and definitely prove that he is a Duncan. I loved how the family showed Rio that he is part of the family. This is an entertaining read that I would recommend.

When famed attorney Bradley Hudson learns of his youngest son Langston’s arrest for drug trafficking, he immediately assembles a team of lawyers and investigators, including members of his own family, to build a defense. With his reputation for being a shark in the courtroom, Bradley is confident he will get justice for his son—until he realizes he will be going up against an old foe, Assistant District Attorney James Brown. Is the ADA allowing his personal history with the Hudsons to influence his handling of the prosecution?

To complicate matters, Bradley discovers that his older son, Lamont, a young lawyer and Bradley’s right-hand man, has secretly been planning his exit from the family law firm to get out from under his father’s shadow.

It may include simple education and counseling, the use of medications like cialis 100mg canada. As a result, there are many options that cheap viagra sales can help them as well. Before you take levitra professional make sure that you are not allergic to any of the component of the medicine. But the fact is, with proper medical help, erectile dysfunction can trigger a lot of doubts and anxieties in the minds of people by not just advertising but by show casing its effects and that is what made a large number of people buy cialis vs viagra . Desiree, Bradley’s only daughter, is fresh out of law school and quite reserved compared to her siblings. She’s the good girl who doesn’t normally like to rock the boat, but in what could be considered the worst of all timing, she is secretly dating a man and a woman, and both relationships are on a collision course. Given the problems her family is facing, now is not the right time for Desiree to introduce more drama to the mix, but she just can’t seem to help herself.

As if fighting for one son’s freedom and fending off the other’s betrayal isn’t enough pressure, Bradley is also in the middle of his own love triangle between his ex-wife, federal judge Jacqueline Hudson, and his current wife and jury consultant, Carla. He knows how much is at stake if his family’s drama spirals out of control, so he’ll do everything within his power to keep it all together and prevent his son from landing behind bars. With his trademark dramatic style, Carl Weber introduces readers to the Hudsons. Only time will tell if they can stand united, or if the legal dynasty of Bradley Hudson is about to come crashing down.

If I ever find myself needing a lawyer I can only hope to fine someone as famed and dependable as attorney Bradley Hudson. Not only is the Hudson family a family of attorneys but they each add in their own individual drama.

Carl Weber is well known for his writing about strong family units and this book is no exception. As always I enjoyed the author’s writing style and the plot is well developed and something fresh. It exemplifies strong personalities and a memorable family with plenty of trials. The characters are lively and bring a lot to the story. I get the feeling this was just a glimpse of their development and there will be more to come in future books.

This is not only a story of family but the bond and fight for one of their own. Young son Langston and three of his fraternal brothers are arrested for drug trafficking. The bond of brotherly love is tested and this story shows that under pressure that bond can unravel. The four young men endured a lot and their lives will forever be changed. Age old hurt and rivalry weigh heavy on Assistant District Attorney James Brown. He has it out for Bradley and will stop at nothing to hurt him and all that he loves. The secret that is being carried threatens to ruin a lot for a lot of people. I felt sorry for James to a point but at the same time think that he needs to be the bigger man and let the past hurts go and live his life.

The story is suspenseful. It’s a quick moving read but it doesn’t wrap up so nicely. The ending closed the case but left several relationships open and unanswered. Jacqueline, James, Perk, Desiree…all of the character pretty much didn’t have closure to their story. I’ve noticed a few editing issues in previous books by this author and this book has the same trouble. As a true fan I am still not disappointed. In my opinion the story is well executed, entertaining and has piqued my interest in future books.

This is a remarkable novel from a best selling author who knows how to give testament to a strong family bond. Highly recommended!

The year is 1978, the Duncan brothers and their tough-as-nails women have vanquished their rivals and taken their place as the leaders of Waycross, Georgia’s criminal enterprises. However, their rise to power has not gone unnoticed, and the family is rocked when their mother, Ms. Bettie, is kidnapped and her body is found in a swamp.

No one knows who the killers are, but instead of drawing closer, the family is split when their grief-stricken leader, LC, is offered membership in the South’s most powerful black organization, the Council. Membership has its privileges, but they do not include his brothers. LC packs up his growing family and moves to Atlanta to open his first car dealership.

Unable to deal with his mother’s death, Lou Duncan searches for her killers with the help of an unlikely ally—LC’s ex-fiancée. Her presence may cost him his relationship with his brothers, but Lou is resigned to that fact because Donna’s help is instrumental in finding Ms. Bettie’s abductors. What he will soon learn is that his search for the truth will also lead him to discover a long-buried Duncan family secret.

I love the Duncan clan!

The characters are so real and each has their own personality and brings something interesting to the story. The writing is so well crafted that each individual’s personality makes the character seem so alive it’s as if they are interacting with the reader. The oldest Lou, Levi the big guy but a gentle teddy bear, unpredictable Larry and LC the brains of the brothers…I loved them all.

The author never disappoints and always delivers a plot that is entertaining and keeps me wanting more. This title was just as good as the previous titles. Reading about the beginning of the family helps the reader to understand and get to know the characters in depth for the stories that follow. The plot and the story line is consistent. There are a few typos in the beginning but to be honest after the kidnapping I didn’t notice if there were any typos because my focus was more on the actions in the book.

The plot is interesting all the way around. The suspense of who took the Duncan’s mom and what is the deal behind The Council made this an awesome read. The Duncans are family men and brothers that stick together through it all. They are strong men that marry and have strong women by their side. I look forward to reading more about the Duncan family.

I enjoyed reading this book and I highly recommend for readers that enjoy interesting suspense reads.

Have you ever met a person and you can tell some things not right about that person real quick? Well that’s the feeling I got when Voncile Harper was introduced in this story. That little voice says she is up to something and it’s not going to be good. Vonvile is Dr. Kasen Phillips’ office manager of two years. Voncile has harbored feelings of lust for Kasen and silently waited to make her interest known. One afternoon after seeing a patient, Kasen has an epiphany and decides to propose to his live-in girlfriend of three years, Raine. Voncile isn’t the only one that’s not happy about Kasen’s proposal.

After his proposal to Raine doesn’t go as he had planned, Kasen arrives home to an empty house. Raine’s belongings are gone and so is Raine. I know we try to give people the benefit of the doubt but Kasen was slow and naive to the people around him because the signs are there that they definitely didn’t have his best interest at heart. For all Kasen knows Raine has ran off with another man and then shortly after Omar stops answering his calls. Kasen isn’t sure what is going on but he has Vonvile to keep him distracted. If only Kasen could have heard me while I was talking to the book telling him no don’t do that.

I highly enjoyed this book. It wasn’t predictable and with the twist it kept the storyline moving in a fast pace. The anticipation was high as I was concerned how will Raine ever get out of her situation. Will Kasen find out how Omar really feels about him? The authors didn’t spend a lot of time with character details but with a novel written with such an active plot I wasn’t left feeling like something was missing.

I am a fan of Carl Weber and familiar with his work. This is the first book I’ve read by Brenda Hampton and I must say I want to read more by this author. This book had my full attention. Suspense, murder, crazy people and a man fighting for the woman that he loves that surely is a book that I’d want to read.
