Heather is a quiet classical pianist lacking in a social (or sex) life. One day, she’s utterly shocked to find out that the hot delivery guy she accidentally flashed in the hallway is actually her brand new neighbour, Mike, a soldier recently back from deployment. And Mike’s very interested in getting to know the gorgeous girl next door who makes such beautiful music. He’s especially interested in getting know her on top of that piano. And on the piano stool. And anywhere else in her apartment she’s willing to let him…

This story sizzled. I won’t lie. There were parts of this short story that had me squirming in my seat. The piano… I’ll never look at a baby grand ever again the same way.

There wasn’t much meat to this short story. The author got right to the point right away. I had to keep reading because I had to know how it would end. Of course it didn’t take long, but still. I had to know.

The premise of the story was hot. Sexy military man and the geeky pianist. Good combination. But there were a few quibbles. While this was erotica, some of the terminology ripped me right out of the story. I wanted to buy in, but I couldn’t… not throughout the book. I had a hard time picturing the hero and heroine together because of the nearly foot difference in their height. I had to reread to figure out some of the choreography. One example: the pianist considers herself short, but not small and wonders how the hero can pick her up, yet he tosses her around. I had a hard time picturing what was going on. The other big quibble was how fast the two characters got together. Some readers might not have a problem with the briskness with which they climbed onto the piano. Others might.

That said, the short story has lots of promise. With a little more editing for content and maybe lengthening the story out a bit more, it could really shine.

If you want an erotic short story that will singe your screen, then this might be the book for you.

Determined never to depend on others, especially men, Dixie is torn between trusting Pinkerton Jackson McCullough and standing on her own.

But will this new independence be enough to save Dixie when the past catches up with her?

She’s on the wagon train heading west with her mother and stepfather. She can’ believe her stepfather would kill her mother but that’s what happened. And everyone says it was an accident. She knows when nightfall comes what happens next won’t be any accident. So she lays down fully clothed with her knife. When he attempts to rape her, she stabs him and runs…

The author writes a very good western tale. The girl is eighteen and has only the money she stole to live on. She goes to the nearest town, Six Shooter Siding. With a little luck and the help of cowboy back at the wagon train, she manages to get there and find friends. She even gets a job. But the man she stabbed isn’t through with her yet.

My favorite part of this story is watching Dixie mature. She appears braver then she is, most people thinks she’s fearless. She just doesn’t want them to think of her as weak. Weak women end up dead like her mother. I also enjoyed her father’s ghost visiting with her. She needs guidance and he’s there to help. They argue a lot but it’s amusing. Her father is right for the most part.

There’s a budding romance where she won’t ask him to stay and he won’t kiss her until she’s ready. She deals with Indians, a Chinese cook and his family, and soiled doves. The girls come to be ranch hands, learn to shoot, deal with animals and more. She even invites a retired buffalo soldier to be her foreman. Defending her property and animals and herself from danger turns out to be a challenge.

This is a tale that will keep you reading and hoping all the way through. I’d be happy to find more about Dixie Dandelion. After all, now she’s going to be a Pinkerton Agent.

Lewis, Alpha master of the Wasp Lake wolf pack, knows that finding his mate should be a joyous event. But former army ranger Jacobi isn’t an Omega. Or even a wolf. He’s a grizzly bear shifter, and Alpha to the bone.

Falling for an outsider is risky, especially given Lewis’s secret. He yearns to be an Omega, not an Alpha, and has never met anyone willing to accept the man he really is behind the Packmaster’s mantle. As for Jacobi, it’s been a long time since he’s been loved so well that it made him want to be a better man.

The pair try loving in secret — for a while — but know that’s not going to be enough to satisfy them forever. When Jacobi adopts an orphaned lynx cub and Lewis becomes the toddler’s second father, they realize something has to be done. But what?

Nature is red in tooth and claw — but sometimes true love really does save the day.

Lewis may be the alpha of his pack, but sometimes he longs for something else–especially behind closed doors. When his duties take him to Jacobi’s home, Lewis realizes that he may have found what he needs. The problem is life does not always work out the way we want it to. Jacobi is an alpha himself and, if that is not enough to put a damper on things, he is a bear, not a wolf like Lewis. Yet their attraction cannot be denied. As the two men spend more time together their attraction soon turns into something more. Soon they will not be able to hide the bond that is growing between them. Add in an orphaned lynx cub and the love begins to grow between them all.

While I enjoyed the concept of this story I would have liked a bit more depth to it. I liked the characters but they seemed a bit one-dimensional. The story moves quickly and I would have liked to see some of the parts of the story a little more fleshed out. I really liked Lewis and Jacobi. They made a great pair and understood each other and what was needed in their relationship. You can see just how much they care for each other in everything that they do. Their life is hard and when push comes to shove it was nice to see them step up. I was pulled into their story from the start but wanted more. This was a quick read that whet my appetite for this world and will have me going back for more.

Self-pleasure, good looking people, holiday spirit and the erotic fantasy mind of Ruby Stallion makes this a good erotic story.

I hadn’t read a book by Ruby Stallion before this one, but I’ve remedied that. This book is definitely original.

Naomi wants a lover who loves her. Seems simple, but in the big city, she seems to find a lot of thorns among the roses. The premise of the story is plausible and interesting.

But I had a few quibbles. First, the tense of the book switched a few times which ripped me out of plot. I had to reread more than a few times. Then there was the way Naomi conducted herself. I’m no prude, but she seemed to waiver a lot. With a bit more editing, this could be a great little story. I realize this is part of a series and is probably best read in order. I say that because the ending seemed a tad too abrupt. Just… done. While this might not deter some readers, especially if it’s known going in that it’s part of series, it was a stumbling block for me.

That said, I did root for Corey. He seemed like he head his head screwed on straight and his heart in the right place. I don’t know what’s next for him, but I hope he gets his own book.

If you want an erotic short story that packs a holiday punch, then this might be the read for you.

The cat is quick-witted, wise-cracking narrator as well as free-spirited, ever-curious protagonist, and the story he tells is an exotic, imaginative, spell-binding tragicomedy. The cat travels from present-day New York City to England, both ancient and modern, then to ancient Egypt, where he confronts a horrible demon and experiences a sublime emotion. Once back in England, he descends into a psychological abyss so deep only the Pharaoh can save him.

The Eye of Nefertiti interweaves feline and human, past and present, natural and supernatural. It contains numerous surprises, twists and turns, intriguing characters, both human and animal, fascinating revelations about ancient Egyptian history and culture, and an ingenious application of the Tarot and an Italian opera.

An Egyptian Pharaoh’s cat is brought forward in time with the High Priest and they find a new life in New York. The High Priest finds love and the cat discovers he is able to speak and walk like a human. A tarot card reading sets them on a path to Egypt’s past, but not their own time, where they must solve the mystery surrounding Nefertiti.

The storyline for this book is an excellent idea. Unfortunately, it’s written in the first person which can be a difficult concept, and this is proven in this novel. The cat is the narrator and I felt as if I was in a history lesson at school, listening to details of what occurred, rather than listening to a captivating story. In places the book came alive and these bits I enjoyed, but on the whole I found the delivery disappointing.

On the plus side, jumping from era to era in the ancient world adds a bit of spice to the story, and the idea of a cat with human attributes is fascinating.

Sabrina hates Christmas time and anything else to do with the holiday season. To escape the horrifying memories, she decides to go away to the lake house and try to find some peace. But who is sending her the creepy texts? And are the two contractors working on her friend’s lake house – Josh and Dustin – really as nice as they seem?

I found this to be an interesting mystery/suspense story. I enjoyed the Christmas premise – and thoroughly enjoyed a Christmas story where the heroine pretty much hates Christmas – I found it quite refreshingly different. I also enjoyed how there were a few sub-plots mingled in with the main plot of the killer who murdered Sabrina’s family and held her captive a number of years ago.

I thought the cold and isolated lake was an excellent backdrop for the murder-mystery and with a strong set of secondary characters my interest was captured quickly. The sub-plots with such a cast of good characters kept me turning the pages eagerly, deeply invested in what would happen next. I was exceedingly pleased when a number of my guesses about the various plots turned out to be incorrect (nothing I love more than a mystery that keeps me wondering!) but I did manage to predict a few of the more clichéd aspects of the plot. Still, I found overall the mystery was refreshingly different and kept me on my toes, so I really enjoyed that.

There is plenty of – very antagonistic to my mind – chemistry between Josh and Sabrina. Usually it annoys me when the hero and heroine spend most of the story at each other’s throats and then magically decide they actually really like each other toward the end of the story. In some respects this really frustrated me. While there certainly was chemistry both Josh and Sabrina really did seem to strongly dislike each other so that made their eventual romance seem fairly unrealistic to me. Thankfully I found this story so heavily invested in the suspense/mystery aspect of the plot I could just ignore the small romantic sub-plot and I don’t believe this lessened my enjoyment of the story at all. I feel this is a really wonderful mystery/suspense story, I just personally found the romantic aspect of it lacking.

With plenty of interesting and strong secondary character’s and a few really intriguing sub-plots as well as an excellently written main murder plot I found there was a lot to enjoy about this story. I very quickly found myself invested in both the mystery and a number of the characters and would happily read more mysteries by this author. A good, suspenseful read.

Will Dylan ever believe in Marissa’s devotion to his family, risk his heart, and those of his brothers, for the woman he loves?

Family is so important in a person’s life. Family does not always have to be blood.

Dylan has always been a responsible, careful and meticulous person. Even more so since his parents passed away. He had no idea that when he first invited Marissa to his house be a housekeeper that his brothers would love her and that he would eventually fall in love with her, too.

Marissa never thought when she started working as a housekeeper in Dylan’s house that she would find the family she craved or that she would fall in love with someone who is so protective of his damaged heart that he might not be able to love her back.

I loved the pace of the story. Not too fast or slow. With Dylan’s brothers and the rest of the characters that came into play, I think the author did a great job of not only pulling me in but she made me feel. Overall a great book with a romance and a climax that will either make you smile or cry happy tears. An easy recommend.

These are just some of the uncanny tales contained in this collection, incorporating comedy and tragedy, laughter and tears!

Sometimes science makes the world a better place, but it’s impossible to tell in advance if this will actually happen.

My favourite tale was “Desperados of the Badlands.” It followed a man named Ruy who wore a manufactured suit of skin that kept his body safe and helped him track down bad guys. What I found most interesting about his adventures was how dangerous they were even with the assistance of such advanced technology. He experienced thing that no regular person would ever expect to feel. This made it really hard to stop reading because I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen to Ruy next.

One of the things I noticed about many of the stories in this collection is that they had incredibly abrupt endings. I was enamoured by how all of them began, but their final scenes often left me feeling confused because of how many loose ends they left untied. The biggest example of this was “City of Beauty, City of Scars.” It followed Tono from his birth to a woman who had very low status to his ascension to the upper classes in a society that harshly judged and sorted everyone based on their physical attractiveness. I was excited to find out what would happen to this character if he made it to the highest level of Aesthetica, so it was disappointing to reach the end with so many unanswered questions about him and the culture he was born into.

The main character in “Ghostless” was woman named Ilona who could see and communicate with spirits. When she’d caught the attention of several dozen of them who all crave her attention, she had to decide what to do with them. What I liked the most about this one is how much creativity was folded into the plot. There were things that happened in it that I never would have thought to include if I were writing about ghosts and what happens after someone dies, but they all worked incredibly well for all of the characters who were involved in it.

Lost Among the Stars should be read by anyone who is a die-hard fan of science fiction.

LILY –

I woke with a terrible headache. The pounding reminded me of the night Annie and I discovered the potency and, the next morning, the after effects of martinis. The smile that thought brought to my face quickly faded when the throbbing intensified.

I feared opening my eyes. Not sure if that would make my head hurt worse and scared what I would see. I tried to recall my evening. I didn’t remember going to bed. Truth was, I didn’t remember coming home.

No. I remembered getting on the elevator. And, arguing on the phone with Annie, before getting on the elevator. And hanging up on Annie as I got on the elevator. But that was it. No getting into my apartment; no getting into my bed. I was trying to remember more when I remembered the most important thing, Laude.

I gradually opened my eyes and there she was. Sitting right next to me, staring at me. Her ears, which usually stood straight up, were down. Her head was down, too. Not exactly cowering but not the usual morning, happy to see you posture of my puppy. It was a bit disconcerting to see those two dark eyes fixed on me, never mind not knowing how long they had been staring at me.
