Ford Kendrick has often dreamed of the day that Jamie Keller would come home to Montana. After high school, she needed to leave—and he, duty-bound to rescue his family’s ranch, pushed her to go. The Army made Jamie a hero, but Ford still sees the gorgeous, loving woman who lit up his whole world.

Every day since she left, Jamie has longed for Ford. One glimpse confirms it: the sexy, dangerous-looking cowboy left a hole in her heart that nothing else can fill. Yet the battle scars she bears—inside and out—won’t let her trust anyone enough to get close.

Ford wants to bring Jamie back to the life they dreamed of building. But locked somewhere in her memories is a dark truth that threatens her safety. It’s a battle Ford won’t let her fight alone, not when he’s determined to keep her by his side, now and always…

I was absolutely captivated by this sweet but intense cowboy romance. Jennifer Ryan delivered an emotional and sensitive second chance at love story that had my attention the entire way through.

Eleven years ago Ford Kendrick broke Jamie’s heart when he sent her away with his good intentions. She returned as a wounded warrior who had some pretty intense issues. I had to love both of these amazing characters just so so much. I took to Jamie right away and rooted for her to overcome her adversities so she could be with the love of her life. I loved Ford for being so sweet and persistent and standing by Jamie when she felt so alone. These two characters and the gripping mystery that surfaced had me enthralled.

The writing was absolute perfection on this one. Jennifer Ryan spun a beautiful story for these amazing characters and I loved watching Ford and Jamie get their second chance to be together. They both worked at the relationship even when it was hard at times. At heart I felt this story was about courage, trust, and true love. On an emotional level I feel like His Cowboy Heart is one of the best books that I’ve read in a while. It doesn’t get any more romantic for this reader.

Jacky is visiting Alaska, on holiday’s with her best friend Karen. She’s just broken up with her horrible ex-boyfriend, and a trip over-seas to see some Polar bears and the beautiful wilderness that America offers, is exactly what she needs.
The last thing she expects when she arrives at a lodge that guarantees every visitor that they will see a Polar bear, is two men who believe she is their soul mate.

Ashten and Raylock get a phone call from their brothers that their mate has arrived. They rush home, assuming it was only Brad’s mate that had been found. Instead, their own red haired goddess is there to greet them on their return.

Can they get her back in time? Or will the damage their nemesis does to her, turn her against them forever?

A good book and a neat take on shifters.

I underestimated this book. The “fated mates” trope isn’t new but I liked how the author presented Ashten, Raylock and Jacky’s version. It was a hot and fast love at first sight kind of story.

Jacky wanted to see polar bears. So, she came for her holiday to a lodge that promised that she would see one. However, the moment she gets there… chaos ensues.

I read a lot of paranormal and fantasy, however the beginning of Her Protectors seemed to have a little too much drama. Even so, as the pages turned the plot became more interesting. The story of the Peacekeepers and their world is truly intriguing. Since, this is the second book in the series, I could tell that I had missed some big chunk of the world that the author has woven. May need to go search out book 1 in the series to see how it all began.

The chemistry was hot. The action and the plot were well played out. This is a short read sure to heat up a cold night.

New teacher Emmy Lange is adjusting to life at the Redding Boarding School. She can’t shake the giddy feeling that the handsome headmaster, Marcus Powers, is attracted to her. Underneath his stern and commanding demeanor is a spark that beckons to her. When he asks her to his office to review her progress, she can’t help but wonder if the intimate setting could lead to some sinful discipline, especially when he takes her to task for her improper usage of his title. His deep voice makes her shiver, and Emmy might find it all too easy to enjoy a “hands-on” lesson on how to properly address the handsome headmaster.

Headmaster Marcus Powers watches in on one of Emmy Lange’s classes. Emmy is a newly recruited English Lit professor and despite her rampant fantasies about Marcus, she’s determined to toe the line and retain her job. They have her first-month review over tea and coffee – can Emmy show Marcus just what a good little teacher she really is?

This is a fun short story. The young, new teacher seducing – and being seduced – by the commanding and powerful headmaster is certainly not a new plot, but I really enjoyed the interaction between Emily and Marcus. Readers looking for a quick, naughty and hot short story should definitely find this one delectable. I enjoyed the dirty talk between Marcus and Emily and the sex was blisteringly hot and certainly explicit. A part of me wished that there had been more time to explore Marcus’ character. This story was told from Emmy’s first-person point of view, so while Marcus’ attraction to Emmy was certainly clear and understandable, I didn’t get as good a feel for his character as hers. With such a short story, it is also of course very difficult to get a solid, good feel for what their relationship really is and how they would interact outside of the bedroom.

Sizzling hot and slightly kinky (calling Marcus “Sir” and a bit of light spanking) I believe this short story should appeal to many erotic romance readers. There is a definite Happy For Now ending and I would certainly read more about these characters in the future should another short story come along.

Her ex-boyfriend-turned-sheriff, Parker Montgomery, never forgave her for dumping his Camaro into the pond before she left town. Determined to make her pay, Parker arrests her the moment she enters town, but she manages to smooth talk her way out of trouble. However, it soon becomes difficult to suppress her lingering feelings for Parker when she starts spending more and more time with him.

Parker suffers in silence with anxiety and nightmares due to his dark past. After serving in the army for nearly eight years, he came back to Prospect to start anew. Though he never quite got over Aubree bailing on him the moment she turned eighteen, it seemed so easy picking up where they left off. The past can be forgiven, but the future stands in the balance. She’s only in town for a week and then she’s going to do the very thing she did ten years ago, unless Parker can find some way to convince her to stay.

Short but very well written, this story slips the reader into a vicarious experience filled with humor, sadness, emotions both immature and mature, nosy but caring town folks, and a love that refuses to give up.

Aubree Manning and Parker Montgomery, in love since childhood, have been apart ten years. Eight of those years Parker was fighting in Afghanistan. Now he is sheriff of Prospect, Texas and fights to control his PTSD. Aubree has been in Dallas. Now a rich financial counselor, she returns to Prospect for a week.

Aubree, always a troublemaker, but a loved troublemaker, dabbles in danger as that undying love goads her into doing most unusual things to find her way back to Parker and to entice him back to her.

The love scenes are hot and sweet. The high school memories captivate. The reconnection as “forever friends” is so sincere and caring, the reader feels Parker’s gradual release of anger, the seeping in of peace, and that “I’m all alone” feeling, so long endured, slithers away.

Lexi Davis does a super job of taking the reader into the hearts and minds of the characters. The humor she slips in is delightful. What is revealed about the characters enthralls.

The fictional ranch life and some of the small town life slips almost too far from reality at times and detract a little, but not enough for me to even dream of stopping. I had to be sure that “forever love” worked its magic so Aubree and Parker got their happy-ever-after.

Commissioned by a big greeting card company for a line of Christmas and Valentine’s cards, he has to emerge from behind his alter ego and unveil himself to the public. He chooses Penny Beedle’s shop for the big reveal. If he plays his cards right, he just might gain Penny as part of his life.

Penny and her sister, Abbey own the card and knick knack store in Lobster Cove. The girls are setting up their store full of Christmas goodies, but Penny simply isn’t really feeling any of the Christmas cheer – since her wedding was called off this time last year. Del had been in love with Penny since kindergarten – and now he was a semi-famous artist with his Christmas cards selling like hotcakes. Even though Del’s family had moved when he’d finished third grade, he’d never forgotten Penny, the first woman who ever captured his attention. Penny and Del might have had a major crush on each other back when they were little kids, but they’ve both grown right up now. Can they rekindle that sweet first love?

This is a sweet, heart-warming, lovely story. Readers who enjoy character based, slower moving storylines should find themselves really enjoying this story. There are quite a few chaste kisses, but all other physical affection occurs off-screen. I love how the author didn’t just info-dump all of Penny and Del’s history – but rather the two characters caught up on all their missing time together, sharing and telling each other stories and exchanging that information in what I felt was a really realistic manner. This also helped me see the small sparks of attraction grow between Penny and Del and made the start of their relationship feel so much more special and wonderful to me.

I enjoyed how they got to know each other again, how they didn’t just jump into bed or race toward their Happy ending – but how they allowed their chemistry and relationship to flourish at a slower, more enjoyable pace. This really helped make the whole story feel more solid and enjoyable to me as I could relish and take time to appreciate everything Penny and Del already had, and what they allowed their relationship to grow into. My only small, very minor disappointment with this story was that the conflict aspect of the plot (Del’s ex-wife and Penny’s ex-fiance) really felt stilted and a little unrealistic. While I can completely appreciate that the author wanted some form of conflict/antagonist in the story, I personally feel that stories that revolve around the characters as strongly as this don’t necessarily need such a clichéd conflict to make the story better.

I found this to be a lovely, slow-paced, wonderfully sweet romance with interesting and appealing characters. A wonderful story that readers of all ages should enjoy.

Is she prepared for what she will find? Will love be enough to heal their wounds?

Innate curiosity and an itch for adventure versus sensible. Sensible comes out second best nearly every time and gets Constance Wynchcomb into more than one tight spot; but no one can say she is just a spectator on her own life. Granted, she is without a dowry, with no social rank or status and is the companion and nursemaid for one of her mother’s well-positioned distant cousins, but she has educated herself much better than most young women. Her genuineness and loyalty shine in many events but never more than when she puts herself in danger to save a lost soul who has been mistreated for almost three decades. Her tenacity and her standing up for what she wants makes her story shine.

Evan Galworthy’s story intrigued me. The secrets, hardships, and his survival skills are remarkable. However, an undercurrent of anger and hurt about his murky past that nobody will tell him about makes him feel unworthy to pursue a life with a wife and family. How his story unfolds bit by piece kept me turning pages. Even though he loves Constance, he feels he must let her go. He does get a “set-down” from her when she tells him not to presume what she needs and then she proceeds to take matters into her own hands—delightful reading!

Mrs. Crook, the inn owner, and the bishop are two of the most interesting secondary characters I’ve read about in a while. They do surprise.

Sarah Richmond does a great job of revealing how the social structure is changing as new inventions and a new rich segment of working people come emerge in early twentieth century England, while entertaining the reader with the deeds and misdeeds of flawed characters, some of whom rise above their flaws and others who cling to their flaws to the very end. Her writing style makes for smooth reading.

This short story definitely packed the heat. The chemistry between the hero and heroine practically leaped off the computer screen. I needed to know what would happen and couldn’t put the short story down.

I liked Kimberly. She’s very much the ball-busting businesswoman. It’s refreshing to read a heroine so in control and composed. Plus, it’s nice for her to be the millionaire-type for a change. I loved reading her struggle for control and the ending…whew!! Hot.

Michael…I had some misgivings about him. His tendency to bite his bottom lip…I don’t know. It pulled me out of the story. But the gesture worked for Kimberly, so no harm, no foul. I liked how he was so masculine and controlled, too. Some readers might not expect some of the things he says or the alluding to being with a man. That might be a turn-off for some readers, but not this one. I liked how this snippet showed his devotion to his job and his willingness to put himself into the shoes of the women he’s escorting.

As I said above, the story sizzles. The sex scenes are off the charts and worth a second read.

Following the disastrous defeat of the clans at Culloden, Scottish Chief’s son Diarmad Ramsay makes his dying father a promise. Diarmad will play the part of Bonny Prince Charlie in an effort to help the true Prince escape the Highlands. With only the fiery Mara MacIvor for guide and with danger on his heels, he must risk all for a Cause in which he no longer believes.

Mara MacIvor considers Ramsay a poor substitute for her beloved Prince. Ramsay may be one of the bonniest men she’s ever met and a braw sight with a sword in his hand, but his disillusionment makes a wide gulf between them. Pursued through the Highlands by Sassenachs and ruthless Highland renegades bent on claiming the price on Prince Charlie’s head, their physical attraction soon becomes a conflagration. But will they ever be bound by more than Diarmad’s vow of honor?

Duty versus love is a theme that threads through this wild trek in the cold, wet Highlands of Scotland in the eighteenth century when Prince Charles Edward, with a 30,000 pounds reward on his head, must escape the clutches of England.

Diarmad Ramsey made a promise to his dying father. He will carry out the mission his older brother Cainnech was to have done. His father says, “Do it for clan honor.”

It is not just highly preferred, but is also considered more effective than levitra price http://robertrobb.com/killian-should-resign-from-the-regents/ and Sildenafil. Her loyalty to “The Cause,” makes Diarmad think she is in love with Prince Charles Edward.

Diarmad is a decoy. He looks much like the prince and is supposed to lead the British away from the real Prince Charles Edward, a man he hates.

British soldiers and Scot renegades make life miserable for Diarmad and Mara, as does the cold, the rain, and the lack of shelter they must endure. Neither of them expects to get out of the mission alive.

Things looked hopeless. How the author makes their narrow escapes believable keeps one turning pages. Laura Strickland does know how to weave an attention-keeping story together with elements that make the reader feel right there with the characters.

The sweet reading is the love and the love scenes that are sprinkled throughout the difficult journey. Mara loves this ‘beautiful, maddening, heroic devil of a man,” and Diarmad loves Mara, yet there is someone back home he thinks about that gives him pause.

Once back home, Diarmad has the weight of being the new laird of his clan—a clan hit hard by all the warring that has taken place. Duty and desire have him conflicted.  Mara’s heart breaks in a thousand pieces. She plans to leave.

To tell how the author resolves this conflict would be a spoiler. I’ll just say Laura Strickland does a masterful job of keeping all the characters ‘in character,’ gives some really ‘bad guys’ their comeuppance, and manages to give more than one couple a happy-ever-after

Highland historical novels are one of my favorites. Honor Bound was a joy to read.

Small communities have long memories. Whether or not this is a good thing depends on what they’re remembering.

Gossip is everywhere. One of my favorite parts of the plot was when it showed just how eager some people are to believe anything they’re told as well as to spread it along to as many of their friends as possible. This wasn’t a topic I was at all expecting to see mentioned in a horror tale, so it was fascinating to see how the author tied together everything together. It is yet another reason why I enjoy his tales so much.

I would have liked to have a few more details about Constance and Matthew’s reaction to the evil they encountered. This was such an important part of the plot that I was a little surprised that it wasn’t given more attention. I always enjoy the challenge of figuring out what a narrator is hinting at without being directly told what’s going on, but I would have loved it even more if I’d had a few more hints to work with here.

With that being said, this is one of the scariest stories I’ve read in ages. One of the things I appreciate the most about Mr. Garland’s work is how much time he gives his characters to reveal their deepest secrets to the audience. This is the kind of horror that slowly sneaks up on a reader, and that makes it so much fun to read. I actually found myself getting more frightened after I’d finished the last scene and started thinking about that strange farm where Matthew and Constance lived again. There were so many details of their lives there that became much more alarming once I knew how those things fit together and what they meant. Sometimes there’s a good reason why old buildings have been abandoned, after all!

This book is part of the Red Grouse series, but it can be read on its own or out of order.

Give The Golden Tup a try if you’re in the mood for something bone-chillingly creepy.

“A Tapestry of Tears,” the story this anthology was named after, showed what happened to Veeranwali after all of her children were killed shortly after birth. Female infanticide was a longstanding tradition in the family she’d married into, and everyone seemed to be resigned to it. What I found most interesting about this character’s life was how hard she fought to keep her babies alive. The love she felt for all of them was beautiful and fierce. It made me want to know more about this amazing woman.

I’ve come to deeply appreciate Ms. Reddy’s gorgeous writing style, and I’ve seen so much growth in her work since I first began reviewing her books a few years ago. With that being said, there were a few times when I was confused by how she introduced the characters in tales like “No Other Way.” Ms. Reddy threw the reader into a family’s decision to send their matriarch to a nursing home before they moved overseas without sharing the identities of any of the characters in this drama or explaining why some of them were so conflicted about this decision. I was captivated by the conflict once I figured out that Samyukta was the elderly mother, but it took a few puzzling missteps to get to that conclusion. I wish this hadn’t been so, because I truly did enjoy listening in as her and her family worry and debate about whether this was the best option for her.

Ganga, the main character in “Only Her Daughter,” suffered one of the greatest losses a person can endure when her young daughter died suddenly. What made her life even more interesting to me was what happened after little Komal’s death. There were so many twists and turns in the plot that I couldn’t stop reading. I simply had to know what Ganga would encounter next!

I’d recommend A Tapestry of Tears to anyone who is willing to think long and hard about the difficulties and joys that the women that this author wrote about lived with every day of their lives.
