One minute down-on-his-luck rancher Austin Hubbard slept soundly, the next, a sassy spitfire dumped a pitcher of water on his head and woke him up—in more ways than one. Hired to help him rebuild his ranch, Sonya Tucker ends up helping him put the tattered pieces of his life back together. The capable, all-business accountant is on a mission to get the ranch up and running, but can he convince the temptingly beautiful woman to take a chance on him?

Sonya was dismayed that Austin had lost it all: money, family, respectability. Things she—who’d been raised by her mother at Nevada’s notorious brothel Wild Rose Ranch—only dreamed about. But working with the long, lean cowboy shows her that Austin is honorable to his core. Together they slowly grow to see what the love between them might bring.

Wow, talk about a bad parent. Poor Austin, he’s such a good guy and has a great capacity for forgiveness but after finding out what his dad is capable of doing, he has to find the strength to do what has to be done. That is where the heroine, Sonya, plays a vital role. It’s also where Austin’s ex has a significant role to play as well.

The theme of good parenting versus bad parenting is highlighted in this novel. It’s messy, at times unconventional, but the difference between the two (good vs bad) is clear and well delivered.

Ms. Ryan created her hero with enough depth, caring and humor, and with a strong moral compass, I found Austin easy to like. Sonya was presented as smart, giving, loyal and who also had a strong sense of family that she made a wonderful partner for the hero. I enjoyed how the author played one off the other, showcasing their strengths and weaknesses in such a way that I was vested in their success.

Secondary characters, like Roxy, Noah, Kelly and June highlighted the theme of family, love and new beginnings. They all were part of an effective supporting cast that enriched the relationship and growing love between Austin and Sonya.

The funny thing about reading this story was my outbursts at key plot moments. My hubby was watching t.v. while I was reading near him. I shouted at the book a few times, “Oh no!” and he thought something bad was happening for real. What?!! What!!?!! -“Oh, you’re reading your book. *heaves a big sigh*. I thought something was really wrong”. I replied, “Well yes, there IS something really wrong, for the hero”. He just rolled his eyes at me. Of course it happened a few more times and each time, my hubby reacted to my reaction and then was disgusted because it was only about a ‘story’. Don’t others realize that to a reader vested in the characters, the crisis points, the suspense and ‘oh my gosh!’ moments ARE real? They wouldn’t be if the author wasn’t good at their craft. Ms. Ryan is very good.

The plot was a solid one, and even though I knew what would eventually happen, the how of it is what made this novel a good read – entertaining, engrossing and worth the time. It had a wonderful happy ever after times two, and a just ending for the man who could be awarded the ‘worst father of the year’ 1st place ribbon. It’s sad actually because there were other options, and any and all olive branches were brushed aside. Having Austin finally and completely happy at the end was so satisfying.

I recommend this book because Restless Rancher is a really good read and Austin and Sonya are worth spending an afternoon with.

Ford Kendrick has often dreamed of the day that Jamie Keller would come home to Montana. After high school, she needed to leave—and he, duty-bound to rescue his family’s ranch, pushed her to go. The Army made Jamie a hero, but Ford still sees the gorgeous, loving woman who lit up his whole world.

Every day since she left, Jamie has longed for Ford. One glimpse confirms it: the sexy, dangerous-looking cowboy left a hole in her heart that nothing else can fill. Yet the battle scars she bears—inside and out—won’t let her trust anyone enough to get close.

Ford wants to bring Jamie back to the life they dreamed of building. But locked somewhere in her memories is a dark truth that threatens her safety. It’s a battle Ford won’t let her fight alone, not when he’s determined to keep her by his side, now and always…

I was absolutely captivated by this sweet but intense cowboy romance. Jennifer Ryan delivered an emotional and sensitive second chance at love story that had my attention the entire way through.

Eleven years ago Ford Kendrick broke Jamie’s heart when he sent her away with his good intentions. She returned as a wounded warrior who had some pretty intense issues. I had to love both of these amazing characters just so so much. I took to Jamie right away and rooted for her to overcome her adversities so she could be with the love of her life. I loved Ford for being so sweet and persistent and standing by Jamie when she felt so alone. These two characters and the gripping mystery that surfaced had me enthralled.

The writing was absolute perfection on this one. Jennifer Ryan spun a beautiful story for these amazing characters and I loved watching Ford and Jamie get their second chance to be together. They both worked at the relationship even when it was hard at times. At heart I felt this story was about courage, trust, and true love. On an emotional level I feel like His Cowboy Heart is one of the best books that I’ve read in a while. It doesn’t get any more romantic for this reader.

Before New York Times bestselling author Kerrelyn Sparks created a world of vampires, there was another world of spies and romance . . . Virginia Munro could not believe her ears. This bewigged, bejeweled, and bedeviling man was trying to buy her? As if she were some trollop on the Boston docks? Before she’s fully able to give in to her outrage, the fop moves on—and Virginia refuses to spare him another thought. But Quincy Stanton is not what he seems. By day, he poses as a carefree Loyalist with an army of wigs and a wardrobe that favors lavender. By night, he wages a secret war against the British with an impressive collection of eighteenth-century spy gadgets. If anyone were to discover the truth, Quincy would hang, yet he can’t seem to stay away from the lovely and saucy Virginia. Will their attraction lead to love . . . or danger?

When his livelihood is threatened, the illegitimate son of a British Earl, Quincy Stanton will powder up his wig and become what he despises most to spy on the would be “protectors” sent to take over the colonies.

Set during the pre-Revolutionary War era of 1769, The Forbidden Lady is classic Kerrelyn Sparks storytelling. Fans of her Love at Stake series are already familiar with her terrific writing voice. This is a different side of a fantastic storyteller but no less entertaining. I think sometimes writers become known for a genre and then try to switch to something completely different and lose their initial fanbase. I don’t see this being the case for Ms. Sparks. Previously released under the title of For Love or Country, The Forbidden Lady is packed with action and suspense I didn’t want to see end.

The lady who catches Quin’s eye and sends his well placed plans into a tail spin is the lovely Virgina (Ginny) Munro. She’s nosy and inconvenient but Quin can’t seem to leave her alone. Their confrontations are full of sexual tension and just as often downright funny. I found myself laughing out loud on more than one occasion.

Ms. Spark’s story will grab the attention of James Bond enthusiast as well when they realize Quin comes ready to do some serious spy work with gadgetry that’s appropriate for the era. Nothing over the top or outrageous but no less clever in its design.

Without giving away the ending I will say not everyone will appreciate its subtleties. Ms. Sparks gives the reader plenty to think about and dwell on in regards to Quin and Ginny’s future. There’s no doubt that they’re together, it’s a romance after all, but the story continues on well after the last page. Read it and I think you’ll understand.
