As a lion-shifter, EMT Sophia Lorello has spent her entire life suppressing her wild side. The animal inside her is not only deadly, she’s worse than a horny politician with an unlimited supply of Viagra. And once her lioness gets out, she doesn’t like to let Sophia — or her rules — back in. That’s not a risk Sophia’s willing to take again.

Sophia’s control flies out the window when Special Agent Griff Monroe is assigned to investigate a series of local murders. The fact that he’s dead-sexy, “erases” people for a living, and shifts into a big, scary gryphon could be a problem. Her lioness wants a new toy, and the battle-hardened agent is even harder to resist than catnip. It’s a pity that darned serial killer keeps getting in the way…

When the race to catch the killer rivals their race to the nearest bedroom, shifting focus could be their only hope of survival… if she doesn’t kill him first.

In this scenario, every time you insert a disk into the optical drive, the error code for this problem is ePSA 2000-0147. viagra in kanada Wonderful transformation has occurred in their lives after receiving the Energy Transmissions from Mahendra Trivedi and other Trivedi Masters, and they are continuing to enjoy the profound and transformational benefits levitra 60 mg through Trivedi Master WellnessTM energy transmission programs. Taken once viagra cheap usa a day, it has received approval from the FDA. If, you too cialis tadalafil 5mg feel that you are the one then you should give a try to the pills over intake. I like Ms. McKay’s stories because there’s always a real story with depth, characters with substance and a plot that keeps the pages flipping. The icing on the cake is the hot romance. The bedroom door is nonexistent insuring that readers feel the heat from the passion and sparks whenever Griff kisses Sophia into oblivion. The author delivers what erotic romance readers seek while giving readers who like more developed plots something to sink their teeth into. Everyone can be happy while reading Shifting Focus.

I liked how Sophia tried to restrain herself. She was an expert at corralling her inner lion but was helpless about resisting Griff. There’s a reason for that, a paranormal one, and it’s a reason she had no clue about. The why of that comes from reading about her history. It really is amazing that she has the job that she does especially when her family history is revealed to the hero and readers.

Griff is a great hero; very take charge, alpha and head over heels in lust with Sophia. I enjoyed watching it morph into something more. His buddy, Hunter, was a fun character. He’s a great side kick yet is just as alpha in his own way. I cracked up when I discovered the reason Sophia seemed to have a bad reaction anytime he was around.

I was most impressed by the humanity of the main characters in the novella. Sure, they’re shifters and can heal fast but Ms. McKay imbued her characters with relatable restrictions on their strength and power that made them seem more realistic, approachable and believable. It was a nice touch and it made their fighting the villain that much more suspenseful, exciting and engaging. I could not stop reading.

Although Sophia reveals a snippet about her family, I found it hard to believe that she knew absolutely nothing about anything with regards to her being a shifter, especially at the age she was when she made the choice she did. Most teenagers not only have a clue but think they know it all at that age. I didn’t feel I was given enough to believe in her self-induced phobia even though it clearly worked as a plot conflict.

The point of view is first person but the author took turns with Sophie and Griff so readers really do get an inside look as to their motivations, fears and the process of their falling in love. I liked that.

Shifting Focus might be short on pages but it delivers a full story, a wonderful romance, the solving of a murder mystery and plenty of sex to blow off steam. It’s a fast read that is perfect for a before bedtime Apéritif of words or a nice way to spend an hour or so in the afternoon. Enjoy!

Two years ago, before my cheating husband died, he promised he’d right his wrongs–and there were so many wrongs. On his deathbed, he swore he’d send a slew of men to worship me and treat me like a goddess.

I don’t know how, but my husband kept that one promise. Unbelievably, I get to choose between three men—one’s perhaps too hot, another too cold, while the other might be just right. And faintly, I can hear my husband chuckling and whispering that I don’t have to choose.

Maybe—just maybe, they could all be mine…

Sometimes love isn’t all rolled up into one person. For Jane it was rolled up into three men. Each very different and yet exactly what she needed.

I have read a lot of ménage and erotic stories with multiple partners. One thing stood out to me as different in Shine. Typically a ménage or multiple partner relationship starts out with guys who have known each other for a long time not guys who just met. In this story, they started out with “I will have her” and it ended with “we love her and we want to be with her forever”. It was refreshing and added a new level of tension to the story.

Mind you their first meeting was fun to read. It was instant contest to see who is better. It was nice to read how the guy’s relationship with each other changed. Not saying that they fall in love with each other. Their relationship changed from strangers to friends. There is no intimate touching whatsoever between the guys.

This was a book about a widow who’s been grieving her cheating, dead husband for over a year. About how she learns to love all of who she is. About how she learns to let go of her past and her insecurities that have been ingrained in her because of her past. Told in the first person POV of Jane, this book delved into mind of a person whose past has formed who she is at present, both good and bad.

I saw this non-traditional relationship between three guys who loved her immensely blossom and strengthen. Yes, the passion and chemistry she has with each of them is different but in the best way possible. They don’t seem like carbon copy characters with different names. This was one of those erotic books that I will definitely remember.

 All About Pride Month

While celebrating Pride month, I thought I’d find out more about the history and how the commemorative month came to be. The following information comes from the Library of Congress. On their website, you can find information and history, presidential proclamations and collections detailing the history of gay rights.

  • Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month (LGBT Pride Month) is celebrated in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan.
  • The Stonewall riots were a tipping point for the gay liberation movement in the United States. In the US, the last Sunday in June was initially celebrated as “Gay Pride Day,” but the actual day was flexible.
  • The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • First recognized in 2000 as Gay and Lesbian Pride month by President Clinton with Presidential Proclamation 7316. Acknowledged the prejudice and discrimination faced by gays and lesbians who “have had to hide or deny their sexual orientation in order to keep their jobs or to live safely in their communities” and the “prejudice against gays and lesbians can still erupt into acts of hatred and violence.”
  • In June 2009, President Obama issued Presidential Proclamation 8387 designated June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month. The proclamation calls upon us to “commit to achieving equal justice under the law for LGBT Americans” and “to turn back discrimination and prejudice everywhere it exists.”
  • President Obama has issued annual proclamations for the celebration of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month. On May 30, 2014 Presidential Proclamation 9136, the President called upon us to “…celebrate victories that have affirmed freedom and fairness, and we recommit ourselves to completing the work that remains.” This proclamation references the 2013 case heard by the United States Supreme Court, Windsor v. United States which struck down the 1996 Defense of Marriage law (DOMA) as unconstitutional. The proclamation ends with a call for greater tolerance: “Following their example, let each of us speak for tolerance, justice, and dignity—because if hearts and minds continue to change over time, laws will too.”

6_22 Soul Seekers_finalNineteen-year-old college student Levi Reed has spent his life with hollow emotions and a darkness so deep that he’s convinced he’s losing his mind. He’d give anything to feel something, anything, real.

When a mysterious stranger appears, Levi is convinced the man is trying to kill him. When he’s near, Levi experiences head-crushing pain and something surprising—real emotions for the first time. Jeb Monroe is arrogant, self-assured, closed-off, and handsome, but his isn’t the harbinger of doom Levi assumed. Jeb’s mission: help Levi find his missing soul.

Levi is pulled into the secret world of Seers and Keepers, those born with the innate abilities to manipulate souls and tasked with balancing the negative energy they can produce. Levi learns he possesses a rare gift, and he’s in danger. As Jeb and Levi grow closer, they discover a group of zealots who want to harness Levi’s power to cleanse the world of damaged souls. Everyone Levi cares for is threatened unless he agrees to become their tool of death. But agreeing could spell the destruction of humankind. With no one to trust and nothing as it appears, it’s up to Levi to save them all.

Enjoy an excerpt:

Levi could scarcely appreciate the magnitude of the force growing from some primitive pit deep within his mind. It—whatever it was—was surfacing, ready or not.

He had to get out. Running was his only solution, the only thing that made sense. A break with one’s psyche had to be messy and definitely nothing a room full of his fellow students deserved to witness. It sounded like nasty business.

“Hey,” Gia whispered, setting her hand on Levi’s shoulder. “You okay?”

Gia’s touch shot pain into his bones and was more than he could stand. He jerked away.

“Levi?” Concern colored Gia’s voice.

Unprecedented pressure crowded Levi’s mind, and, like a balloon filled past capacity, something eventually had to give. Terrifying visions of his gray and white brain matter splattering across student’s faces, on pages of open textbooks, on Mr. Cobbert and that hideous tie covered with statistical equations, invaded his mind. Levi wondered how long he had before his head exploded.

Fumbling to gather what remained on his desk, he picked up his messenger bag and bolted for the door. What was happening to him? God, anywhere but here. The heat rushing through him spiked. A large black blur startled him as it passed by the window of the door. Taken back, Levi hesitated and then grabbed for the metal door handle. When he tried to pull the door open, a painful spark of static electricity crackled at his fingertips. Instinctively, Levi pulled his hand back as the shock snapped against his skin.

Don’t let the door close!

Levi caught the metal monstrosity with his knee and squeezed through, allowing it to slam behind him.

Which way?

His car. In the back parking lot. To the right. The hallway was empty. As he ran, the unrelenting cranial pressure doubled him over in agony and pain exploded in his chest. Stumbling to remain upright, Levi steadied himself with his hand on the wall and then pushed off, propelling himself forward. His thoughts were vacant. He was in pure survival mode, true fight-or-flight, however something was wrong. No. Something was missing.

The fear.

Out the front doors. Blinding sunlight. Colored figures rushed past him, pushing and knocking into him.

So much pressure!

“Hey, watch it!” a male voice yelled as Levi bounced off a body.

When his vision came into focus, Levi was well into the parking lot, dodging moving and parked cars. Another blur of black passed nearby, but he ignored it, not giving a shit. His only objective: find his car and fast.

Again, he doubled over as the pain escalated, this time accompanied by roiling nausea. Where was his damned car?

Digging deep into his front pocket, Levi fought to free his keys. Just as he reasoned the piece of shit must have been stolen, there it was. He’d never been so relieved to find the old, rusting heap of steel. Juggling the keys, Levi managed to hit the button on the key fob, grateful for access to the locked car.

As he dropped into the driver seat, another wave of mind-numbing pain knocked into him, immense in his head and blossoming in his chest as well. Not again. His hands pressed against the sides of his skull. Maybe if he squeezed hard enough the counter-pressure would relieve the pain, or maybe it would simply crush his skull. When there was a reprieve from the pain, Levi revved the four-cylinder to life. Without hesitation, he backed out of the space, then slammed the gearshift to D, fleeing, as if he were being chased by every scary monster in the history of scary monsters.

When his dad wills the land to stranger Charlotte Wilkinson and all Gage gets is a mysterious key, he’s determined to do anything to get his rightful inheritance back.

Charlotte Wilkinson never expected to inherit a piece of property in Sweet Ridge, Texas—the Aussie businesswoman is focused on building an environmental analyst career here in the States. But the moment arrogant oil-man Gage Cooper walks into her office accusing her of seducing his father, all plans for selling the property to him fly out the window.

The protagonists in Sweet Texas Fire, Gage Cooper, an oil man, and Charlotte Wilkinson, an environmentalist, strike sparks off each other that could start a Texas fire. They are both strong-willed and “dedicated-to-their-professions” people. In their professional dealings Charlotte is a “thorn-in-the-flesh” to Gage. It gets worse when they are thrown together by a coincidence that is a major premise running through the trilogy. This encounter sets off personal conflicts that add fuel to the fire of their professional conflicts.

The business deal they finally agree on sets things up to create a love story fraught with pitfalls.

Each of them has an agenda that does not blend well with the other one’s agenda. When love wiggles its way into the conflicting agendas, and their physical attraction to each other is acted upon, the emotional upheaval makes page-turning reading.

The twist that comes, when a box is found in the attic, intrigues.

The story unfolds in a predictable progression, making it an easy, relaxing read. It kept me well entertained on an evening when I needed a respite from the real world. Since I was born and raised in Midland County and have ties to the oil business and Houston, I found the author’s views about the environment and the people fun to read. The characters, both the primary ones and the secondary ones, depict a slice of life in Texas. Much of the profanity so overused used these days did not seem to fit the characters personalities. I was disappointed to see them.

Sweet Texas Fire has me all set to read the third book of this trilogy to see how Grayson, the middle son of the deceased Jack Cooper, copes with terms of his father’s will—terms that were not at all what he’d expected.

Renata is taking refuge in her best friend’s cottage – using it as a much needed escape for a few days. Unfortunately, Noah had also been allowed use the cottage and Renata is loathe to give up her weekend just because some guy happened to be there as well. Can she chill out when they’re both snowed in together?

This is an interesting “snowbound” style book. I found both Renata and Noah’s characters to be layered and complex, which was a big help since the book really did center around them with very little supporting cast. I found the “two steps forward one step back” style of the story a little frustrating at times. While it was perfectly understandable both Noah and Renata were a little prickly – they both have pasts and in their own way were running from their lives and themselves – after the first few times of one of them cutting off or shutting down on the other it got a bit repetitive. It was clear they were both interested in each other, and while Noah was prickly and secretive and Renata had been burned in the past they seemed to run very hot/cold with each other and this sent plenty of mixed signals – to each other but also to me as a reader.

Readers who like a slower pace with plenty of give-and-take between their hero and heroine should find this to be a good read. I thought there was a good length to the “getting to know you” period between Noah and Renata and they each shared plenty of themselves and their history while the attraction grew steadily between them. The only real conflict was the sometimes prickly interactions between them when one or the other closed off a bit emotionally. The plot was very character-centric – more than the first half of the book revolved around them learning about each other while snowed into the cabin. There was also only the one sex scene, so readers wanting a bit more spice might find this slower pace and less physical style of romance a bit slow. I personally found it satisfying, but not overly descriptive so I feel it shouldn’t be too much for most sweeter styled romance readers.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. For the most part I liked both Renata and Noah’s characters and while I got a little frustrated with them both a time or two it was a real pleasure to read about them finding love together and filing the empty place in each other’s lives.

This book has it all – humor, excitement, a bit if heavy hitting drama, romance, some eccentric but adorable characters, rambunctious dogs and last but not least, sexy shenanigans. For the Love of a Fireman is complete entertainment.

When I got this book, I had no idea there was BDSM in it, but the premise sounded so good, I took a chance. I’m happy to say that it’s light BDSM, and the heroine was the one being introduced to it. I actually liked how the author presented it, explored it between her characters and made it about emotions, trust and other positives that helped Barclay and Molly’s relationship grow. Because the lifestyle is a tad unconventional, the author used it as part of the internal plot conflict. It worked.

Barclay is a broken man who is afraid of opening his heart again. Molly is juggling a lot of sad emotional baggage on her own – she’s surviving but not thriving. The two truly meet in an explosive encounter that blasted the path to a relationship wide open. There were no tentative steps to take in this story – every step on their journey is bold, productive and revealing. There’s not a boring scene in the whole book.

I laughed out loud quite a few times, especially with the references to James Bond. I got the biggest kick on how Ms. Davis incorporated those humorous little quips into Molly and Barclay’s mating dance.

Secondary characters are very important in this novel. They provide heart, insight and support when it’s needed most. The relationship between Molly’s dad and Milt was priceless. Other important secondary characters were the dogs – they made for effective comic relief.

As for the drama I mentioned earlier, it was brief but intense and gripping. The author wasn’t overly dramatic with the descriptions; she was short and to the point and managed to keep me at the edge of my seat all the way through. I actually re-read that section twice. Molly was so brave!

The focus of For the Love of a Fireman is Molly and Barclay’s romance. The author took the time to let a reader get to know them, care for them, and root for them when things got messy. The BDSM lifestyle isn’t the star of the book, it’s just a part of who Barclay is and how it affected, for good or ill, his relationship with Molly.

For the Love of a Fireman is truly delightful. It’s sexy, funny and warmhearted with just the right amount of external conflict to keep a reader engaged and fascinated. I had an awesome time reading this novel and have no problem recommending it to other romance readers. The story is that good.

Josslyn was born into this lifestyle whereas Tank went into this later on his life. They did not hit off when they first met but their attraction towards each other brought them together. It also produced a child he never knew about until someone tried to take him away. First rule of the MC world, don’t mess with family.

Cursed was a rollercoaster of emotion for me. After I read synopsis and when I completely finished reading the book two things stood out. I realized I didn’t understand the title at all. I couldn’t find any relation of the title to the book. Maybe it referred to Josslyn seeing a repeat of history when her child was kidnapped but I couldn’t be sure.

The one other thing I realized was that, when the synopsis said Josslyn steps back into MC Life, I assumed that she was going to actively be part of it, the same way she was in the past. But that was not the case at all. This is a good thing,  a very good thing, by the time the story ended.

I think the one thing I would say to future readers of Charming Bastards is start from the first book. Yes, Cursed can be read as a standalone. However, for me there were situations where I thought I was missing something interesting, or that I was not understanding it as completely as I thought I would.

Cursed is an erotic biker club romance with elements of violence and gratuitous sex that I did not expect. It’s dark and gritty, very realistic for what this world is more likely like than what is often romanticized in books. I began to understand Josslyn’s character a lot more with some of these elements in it.

The author tried to show Josslyn and Tank’s past relationship and as well as their current one. I saw their current relationship develop into something more and I loved it. I was happy to see that this book has not only an HEA but that justice is served on some really bad people. Readers who want the edgier side of this world should give this one a try.

What no one realizes is that Maggie has set in motion of chain of events that no one could have predicted.

I laughed at how she got Sebastian to help her. I liked how grumpy he was and when he tried his The Raven glare at her, she sassed him right back. Maggie refused to let him get to her. But, eventually he does get to her, in the best of ways. And, true to romantic tradition, she gets him right back and softens him up like warmed up clay – still some lumps in there but she won’t totally give up until Sebastian reaches his full potential. His resistance is futile in the light of final truth.

My emotions were taffy pulled all over the place while reading. There are layers upon layers to unravel and as each one is revealed, the pages kept flipping faster. Each chapter is an exercise in amazement and entertainment. There is a mystery to solve and intrigue to puzzle out. The pace is brisk, the dialogue crisp, sometimes saucy and when Sebastian finally seduces Maggie to the ultimate act, it’s romantically sizzling and satisfying.

I had a blast reading Marriage Most Scandalous, and have no qualms about encouraging readers to discover this treat for themselves. The story is meaty, captivating, and filled with full-bodied characters worth getting to know. I enthusiastically tout this novel as a recommended read.

Merina Van Heusen will do anything to get her parents’ funky boutique hotel back-even marry cold-as-ice-but-sexy-as-hell Reese Crane. It’s a simple business contract-six months of marriage, absolute secrecy, and the Van Heusen is all hers again. But when sparks fly between them, their passion quickly moves from the boardroom to the bedroom. And soon Merina is living her worst nightmare: falling in love with her husband . . .

If readers enjoy the marriage of convenience theme then this is the romance for you. I like the fact that Merina and Reese were actually very well matched. Perceptions, assumptions, laser focused goals and passionate explosions of dialogue were effective walls between the two, but it was the passionate speech with the door knob that set the stage for knocking down all those walls. What follows allows readers and each protagonist to get to know one another. The results, though shocking, disconcerting and surprisingly sexy to Merina and Reese, were pure entertainment for me. The Billionaire Bachelor is a fun spin on a well-loved theme.

This novel is quite the see-saw. Reese is broken, Merina isn’t, sort of. Then Merina gets really broken and Reese has to step up and take the scariest risk of his life. How it all comes about, from learning what broke the hero, to what makes a confident Merina into a woman uncertain of her womanhood, to forging a bond that takes both hero and heroine by surprise and actually makes them better people, is why this story is so compelling. I didn’t find any slow paced scenes in the book; the author kept this character driven romance rolling right along. Reese is complicated, with pride and shame coloring his stubbornness. Merina is loving, mostly open and the first one willing to take a chance on making this marriage deception into something real and forever. As with any good romance, the conflict makes that a bum decision, at first. I like how the author resolved it.

I enjoyed meeting the secondary characters that populated the novel in support of Reese and Merina. I found that Reese’s dad and brother were more developed as characters than Merina’s parents or her best friend. I have an idea that it was a planned decision since Tag’s character, Reese’s brother, seems like a likely potential hero. Who is going to make this seemingly happy go lucky man turn serious about love? That’s a good question I hope someday to see answered. I just have to wait for what will seem like forever for the next book. And, I found Penelope to be quite the dragon, even though well intentioned and doing what she was hired to do. I would love to see her as a main character someday. She’d be fun to fluster because in this book she seemed much too perfect at her job.

Another reason that I enjoyed the novel was because of Merina. I loved the way she was written regarding her openness and joy of life. She knew that she could get hurt along the way, but her nature would not allow her to shy away from grabbing every moment of bliss that she found in Reese’s arms. The way she melted for him was so romantic. And the tie thing she had going on? How the author used Merina’s fascination with Reese’s ties was incredibly sultry and sexy. Of all the imagery the author used, those scenes were some of the best.

Ms. Lemmon’s The Billionaire Bachelor is not only entertaining but well written. There’s a lot of emotion, heart, love and optimism written into its pages so when the happy ever after finally came about it was satisfying and left me feeling quite cheerful. When a book leaves me in an upbeat mood in the end, for sure I’ll be recommending it to other romance readers. After all, one can never get too much of the ‘happy’ in a happy ever after.

Not every vacation is necessarily relaxing.

All of the characters were incredibly interesting . I haven’t read the other books in this series yet, but I didn’t have any trouble figuring out who was who. Every one of them was so unique that I quickly formed mental images of them in my mind. From flirtatious to stoic, all of their personalities were delightful in their own ways. I also felt like I got to know several of the secondary characters nearly as well I did Diega herself which was wonderful.

There were pacing issues in the beginning. It took a while to introduce all of the characters and get them settled into the roles. While I enjoyed getting to know everyone so well, I would have liked to have at least a few clues about the murder early on. There was a lot of information to unpack in this case, and this reader would have preferred having more time to try to piece it all together before the plot thickened.

The dialogue felt natural. I liked the way the conversations flowed between Diego and her friends in particular. There were many references to things they’d done together in the past as well as to new developments in their personal lives. This made it easy to imagine that I was eavesdropping on a group of old friends as they chatted. I enjoyed that quite a bit.

I’d recommend Vacations Can Be Murder to anyone who is in the mood for a mystery that asks its audience to put in some work in order to solve the case.
