Pure romance is in store for a reader when they pick up their own copy of I Adored a Lord. There is the primary story and then there is a sub-romance going on that reminded me very much of a fairy tale. Happy ever afters abound, even though a couple aren’t about romance but more like comeuppances and justice served. It’s a fun treat.

The book starts off reading like a fairy tale narrative, setting up the background of the heroine in preparation for what comes later. It’s an interesting touch. That being said, the author continued to plop narrative and telling throughout the book. I found the novel to be a bit wordy and reading speed was reduced. That doesn’t mean the plot, characters, environment or dialogue weren’t engaging – they were. I enjoyed the premise, the intrigue and the hunt for clues in addition to the dynamics between some of the secondary characters. There’s a lot to like about this novel.

The author was ebullient with her descriptions of the Romeo and Juliet play the prince wanted to stage. In fact, the details included in most chapters were overly thorough and time was spent painting scenes for a reader. Many readers will enjoy that kind of depth of detail; it bogged me down. I prefer action and dialogue and brisk plot movement and I’m glad to say that were it counted, Ms. Ashe came through. If the scene with a villain or a spiteful viper was onstage, the author tightened her writing to provide a solid impact. I appreciated that.

The romance between Vitor, the hero, and Ravenna, the heroine, is a slow sensual build. I liked how she initially rebuffed him. I enjoyed his pursuit of her, and for most of the book the heat level was sweet, until it was not. When their passion finally was fully explored, it wasn’t fully explored. There’s an interesting twist and a wonderful bit of drama that coincides with that event. It wasn’t until much later that they were able to get past all the bullets and evil plots and interruptions and finally be relaxed and be together the way they wanted to be. What harm can a little water do anyway?

Overall, this was a fun standalone novel. I liked the mystery of the who-done-it, the search for clues and how practical and pragmatic Ravenna was about it all, and Vitor’s appreciation for her brains and logic. This is an engaging historical romance with a touch of mystery that I do recommend to other romance readers. It’s worth checking out. Even the author’s note at the end was fascinating and provided a reason to believe in Vitor’s family dynamics. I quite enjoyed reading this tale and am looking forward to reading another in the series.

She fell deeply in love with him in the early days of her childhood. And in return, she captured his heart the moment he first cast gaze his gaze upon her…

Renowned artist Mariah Jennings, hired to paint a thirteenth century Scottish castle, gets the shock of her life when she encounters the handsome knight who has dominated a lifetime of portraits and sketchbooks. But Sir Cailen Braithnoch is no ordinary ghost, nor did he suffer an ordinary death. Magic of the blackest kind cast a pall over the knights centuries ago. As the ghost and his lady seek to unravel the paradox surrounding his death, black arts, otherworldly forces, and a jealous rival conspire against them.

Will fate keep them apart, or is their love destined to last through the ages?

Mariah never imagined that the man she’s been drawing since she was old enough to pick up a pencil actually existed. However, Cailen is no ordinary man. He’s a ghost who died under very unusual circumstances. Cailen and all his knights died in the same battle and have inhabited their castle ever since. I found this fact troubling and intriguing at the same time. I eagerly dove into the pages of this story wondering if Mariah would be able to solve the mystery surrounding Cailen and his knights before it was too late.

I must say I think Ms. Peterson’s interpretation of ghosts is interesting. I found the social lives of the ghosts particularly entertaining. These ghosts aren’t content to simply haunt the castle. They attend parties and make friends in their afterlife. I could clearly picture ghosts from various centuries dancing the night away.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Mariah and Cailen get to know each other. Even though they had an immediate connection, I’m glad that they were able to spend time together as a couple. Their circumstances are certainly unusual, but I think they work around the limitations posed by Cailen being a ghost very well.

I do wish some of the secondary characters had been a bit more rounded. Some of the other knights had a lot of potential to be interesting secondary characters, but this never really happened. The other knights stayed in the background for the most part. I also wanted to know more about the villain of the story. It is clear that this character wasn’t always bad. I wanted to know more about what set them on such a terrible path.

I enjoyed watching the mystery of unfold bit by bit through dreams and memories of various characters. Ms. Peterson built the suspense by gradually revealing one small piece of the puzzle at a time. I will admit that the pacing was a little slow at times. However, my patience was rewarded. The conclusion of this tale is definitely intense and had me on the edge of my seat.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to read Spirit of the Knight. Ms. Peterson’s ghosts are fun and entertaining, and Mariah and Cailen make a great couple. Fans of paranormal romance would do well to pick up a copy of Spirit of the Knight today.

Xander stretched his neck from side to side, limbering up for the hour-long class that would teach him nothing new. Real-life dramas were the true classrooms. From the first, Ember’s story drew him. Psychology textbooks scripted her life on every page. Her chapters lay titled in bold black font: abusive mother, negligent father, unhealthy lifestyle, teenage trauma, and sibling suicide.

He’d met Ember during her sophomore year of college, when she’d worked behind a fast-food counter. Teased and taunted by drunken customers about her weight…and yet, she never batted an eye. Right then, he knew she was the one.

Delving into her life story and helping her overcome her issues ranked him smarter and wiser than his peers. Ember was the perfect test subject. He watched other students waste time on recreational pursuits, but he allotted time with Ember, honing his knowledge, digging deeper into her psyche.

And now, the time spent grooming her had come to fruition. His patience and guidance would lead to their mutually beneficial future together. Carefully planned construction was necessary in the next phase of Ember’s development—love.

He alone held the hammer.

You also don’t have to worry about false tadalafil professional cheap starts because the movies work first time every time. When it comes to love generic viagra on line men can not resist its sale. We all have listened canadian pharmacy for cialis as the top most treatment for ED problems; Kamagra is a generic version of this medicine and contains the same ingredient of it. I really enjoyed how the author mixed up danger, exotic locations and romance with babysitting. The blurb only hints at the humor the story delivers when Huntley and Melissa try child care for the first time without any preparation or warning. What made it exceptionally challenging was the babies were part time furry jaguar cubs and potty time sure kept the hero and heroine hopping. Talk about a litmus test for parenthood!

Ms. Spear incorporated a lot of humor in her current adventure, Jaguar Pride. Some occasions were moments of lighthearted dialogue between Melissa and Huntley, and others were generated by watching two very capable and lethal agents turn to mush and being susceptible to the cuteness inherent in babies, human or cat, making the lead characters very human, relatable and interesting.

The bad guys are vile just by the nature of their activities. Kidnapping big jungle cats for profit is bad enough, but dealing with baby critters too is outright mean. The author made it very clear that poachers are to be reviled and are villains which, for the most part, are unable to be redeemed. I think the author was a bit heavy handed with dispatching the poachers left and right but in doing so reminds me of something I read at some point. I paraphrase, “Never get an author mad, she/he will write you into a book as a villain and give you your just desserts.” If that’s the case, well, no poacher should EVER cross Ms. Spear.

Most secondary characters were written well and supported Melissa and Huntley’s mission. At times, the flow of events seemed too smooth and orchestrated but the end result is what’s important. I believe the two guys from the Avenger branch were introduced to entice interest for future heroes. It didn’t quite work for me because they were too one dimensional and convenient. Perhaps in the future readers will get a better hint as to their hero-worthiness. As it is, I liked Everett a whole lot better.

I consider Oliver a red herring, Genista a clarifier and the local police as part-time comic foils. It’s a very busy book but no matter who is on stage, a reader is never left in doubt this is a solid standalone read about Melissa and Huntley falling in love during a mission. I really liked the chemistry between them and for readers who like falling in love to have a physical presence, Ms. Spear provides many opportunities for satisfaction.

Jaguard Pride is a nail biter of an adventure. It’s steamy, humorous and chock-full of action to keep readers at the edge of their seats. Even though the topic is serious, the story isn’t dark. The author focuses on the optimistic side of life even while dealing harshly with the dirty underbelly of poaching. It’s a difficult balance but Ms. Spear pulls it off, providing readers with a thoroughly gripping novel. It’s another winner.

Maíra is definitely reluctant to follow through with that, but everything changes when Carol is kidnapped by a demon…

You can’t control who you fall in love with, but you can control what you do with those feelings.

The dialogue in this tale was so much fun. Unicorns see the world in ways that humans can barely even imagine. These differences showed up almost immediately, and they brought a smile to my lips on more than one occasion. The unicorn actually turned out to be my favorite character of all in this book due to all of the zany things that tend to happen to people who meet them. Discussing specific examples of what happened would lead this review too far into spoiler territory, but suffice it to say that anything can and does happen when one of these creatures shows up!

I would have liked to see more character development. Maira was a fascinating protagonist whose physical features were described in detail, but I had trouble picking up on what kind of personality she has. Knowing if she’s generally shy, gregarious, talkative, or something else entirely would have made it really easy for me to give this story a much higher rating.

There’s something to be said for falling in love with a good friend. The romance in this piece was just as prominent as the science fiction themes, but neither genre ever overpowered the other one. What made it even more interesting, though, were the positive messages sprinkled throughout the plot. I wasn’t expecting them, but they worked quite well with all of the other themes.

Love Rampage is a good choice for anyone who likes romantic science fiction.

Now, his world is rocked when her dead husband shows up, demanding that Reese pursue Emily to keep her out of the clutches of her latest suitor—a jerk who is only after her money.

Can he and Emily find the love they were denied, or will the ghost of her dead husband destroy their chances?

Reese Caster, a single surgeon who’s known as a ladies man is propositioned by his friend Joey Tillman, but the catch is Joey has been dead for a year.

I really enjoyed Caster’s Unfriendly Ghost. It was a entertaining quick read. I like the writer’s writing style. She had a subtle way of describing the characters and her description in delivering the setting were masterful. The characters are captivating and the plot intriguing. This was a book that kept my interest through out. The characters were good hearted and a pleasure to read about. They had lucrative careers but found pleasure in volunteering in helping raise money for charity in putting on their annual haunted forest.

Joey’s soul can’t rest until his wife finds happiness; this brings about his proposition to Reese. The guy that Emily is dating is up to no good, so Joey calls in Reese, who happens to have broken Emily’s heart many years ago, to scare away the new guy. With a twist of his arm Reese finally accepts and agrees to help Joey. A question I asked while reading the book was: is Joey able to handle the outcome of what he put into motion?

This is the kind of book that I like that leaves something until the end so you can’t figure everything out before you get there. You know it will be a happy ending, but the author gives a little twist that makes the reader say … oh, clever thinking.

It’s obvious the love that Reese and Emily shared in the past didn’t stop when the relationship ended. They share an attraction between each other that is so obvious. Emily is quite a lucky woman to have such good guys looking out for her. I found this book to be happy, but also a pinch of sadness. Love in it self can be complex but add in friends, ex-lovers and old feelings it’s a mix that is sure to bring about a satisfying read.

This is a highly recommended book for any reader that is looking for a easy satisfying read.

The way to a man’s heart is on a sleigh.

Arthur Anderson doesn’t want anything to do with love and romance, and he certainly doesn’t want to play Santa in his mother’s library fundraising scheme. He knows full well what she really wants is to hook him up with the town’s lanky, prissy librarian.

But when Arthur’s efforts to wiggle out of the fundraiser lead to getting to know the man behind the storytime idol, he can’t help but be charmed. The least he can do is be neighborly and help Gabriel find a few local friends.

As their fiery arguments strike hotter sparks, two men who insist they don’t date wind up doing an awful lot of dating. And it looks like the sleigh they both tried not to board could send them jingling all the way to happily ever after.

Small town romance at its best. It had meddling townspeople, disapproving townspeople, a bit of Christmas magic and a good snow storm to meld everything together. Ms. Cullinan writes amazing characters who are very lifelike and real to me, they have the ability to feel like the man down the street that I could be best friends with.

I adored that Gabriel and Arthur were not interested in each other when they first met but they slowly find small things in common, and not just their volcanic chemistry. They definitely have chemistry once they find some alone time. Gabriel thinks Arthur is too loud and not book smart, while Arthur thinks Gabriel is too skinny and way too into books.

I related to both of them, Gabriel because he understands that books and knowledge can allow anyone to escape their world into more perfect worlds created by authors. I also related with Arthur because everyone just assumes he’s this horn dog who’s a bit slow and not the kind of man for a real relationship. His meddling mother is determined to find him a man, and even though she means well, I understand how that could become a bit tiring.

While being both an emotional story and lighthearted at the same time, it also touches on some serious issues. I loved the parts where Gabriel teaches about little boys wanting dolls and how boys can have and play with baby dolls too.

I definitely recommend this story, I enjoyed every last bit of it, and even though it’s the second of a series, it is easily read by itself. It’s a great story for fans of small town romance who want that M/M twist.

If Biloxi surrenders her dreams for Fleur de Lis and tows the line with tradition, will she also be forced to give up on “forever love” due to the hate their families still harbor?

Bayou Bound is the second book in the Fleur de Lis Series and it focuses on a family centred relationship. Nick and Biloxi’s families are opposed to each other; imagine Romeo and Juliet set in the deep south with deep rooted Southern traditions and values. This is a novel which involves the whole environment around the couple rather than tunnel visioning in on the two of them.

Biloxi is first portrayed as a reluctant damsel in distress but she does have strength of character and is a modern businesswoman in her own right. Nick is a typically strong male – physically and emotionally. However he does have a strange past, his grandfather having hidden much of his family’s history from him as a boy.

There are a few sex scenes thrown in which are satisfying to read and have some spark but these are few and far between due to the familial twist of the book. However there is a lot of fire and physical contact between these two before the sex comes into play.

The families brought an interesting variant to the romance theme but I did think that they came between the couple too often. At many times, this story was more about the drama of their families than the romance. I also felt that the traditional and hard-to-change values of their families were perhaps a little too stuck in stone for contemporary fiction.

That said, I was drawn into the narrative and was never bored by the pace of the piece. I kept reading through the night until the story was done, just to find out how the two families could be forced to like each other and whether love would indeed “win out”. I would recommend this book to historical romance readers who want to try a contemporary piece or to traditional readers and family orientated individuals who would like to see a happy ending.

No matter how hard she tries to ignore him, Oliver still manages to get under her skin.

Soul Temptation is the second book in the Souls Entwined series and its not just about Serene’s awakening, but it also deals with Oliver’s interaction with his father and the family business. It is also a love story and despite the fact that they are now related by marriage, Oliver and Serene want to take their relationship to the next level. I enjoyed Soul Temptation because of the many layers the story has. It is a good story, somewhat slow in some areas and it could use better proofing, but all in all it was a very good read.

Full of fun, quirky characters and a solidly plotted mystery, with a taste of romance, Seven Days and Six Worst-Case Scenarios has something for nearly every reader.

Taking a vacation with your best friend should be simple and pleasant enough, but Victoria manages to get herself in trouble nearly from the start. She attempts to stop someone from escaping police custody and puts herself in direct opposition to the head crime boss in the area who sets out to punish her. Add in an old flame, Alex, plus Mr. X and his monkey and you have an edge of your seat thriller with the added bonus of humor and sexiness.

I’m such a sucker for stories with characters outside the norm, and this story doesn’t disappoint. Sometimes, though, so much attention is paid to them that the mystery portion of the plot gets a bit neglected. Not so, here. The romance isn’t quite as strong a part of the story, but it really isn’t meant to be the focus, so it never bothered me that it took a bit of a back seat to the rest.

Victoria is both funny and sometimes irritating. For every few times she made me laugh, I’d have a moment where I wanted to smack her. She’s sassy and irreverent, but so much fun to read about. Yes, the plot was very good, but it was the characters that kept me reading and will have me coming back for more.

The book was packed with so much, though, the wrap up felt just a tiny bit rushed. Nothing that ruined things or made me dislike the book. But really, it was the only downside to what was otherwise just a fun, intriguing, solidly written mystery with romantic elements. I really, utterly enjoyed it and can’t wait for more from the author, especially if we revisit these folks again!
