Seventeen-year-old Arden Munro has been raised by her older brother, Scott, ever since the death of their parents 10 years earlier. He has been her only family. But now Scott too is dead–or so believe the local police and everyone in Arden’s community. Arden, however, is convinced that Scott has staged his snowmobile accident and purposely disappeared. She will search until she finds him. As Arden obsessively continues her detective hunt, she is forced to examine her feelings of loss and isolation, and to finally realize that these feelings existed long before Scott’s accident. Whether or not her brother reappears, where should Arden turn for the support that usually comes from family? The page-turning mystery leads to a heart-tugging conclusion that is at once hopeful and sad, piercing and satisfying.

Fighting for what you know in your heart to be true in spite of all the evidence to the contrary is incredibly difficult. And when you live in a small community and everyone else is convinced that you are wrong and just deluding yourself, it becomes even harder. But this is just what Arden does when her brother’s snowmobile crashes through the ice on a swift and dangerous river. Everyone believes Scott is dead, but Arden just knows that he isn’t. Or is that just a fantasy to help her avoid dealing with losing the last member of her family?

Arden is an extremely complex seventeen-year-old and her character is very well developed. I liked her and suffered along with her. She makes some poor choices, but then she also makes some very good and mature choices, just what is to be expected from someone who is nearly an adult. The supporting characters are also fully developed and individualized. Even though I believed Arden and supported her actions, I could also see how these actions looked to those around her who were trying to care for her.

The novel is a fast-paced action story and I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. The mystery was very well conceived and it was easy to believe that Scott was really dead on one page and that he must still be alive on another. The author had me hooked from the opening chapter and I didn’t figure it all out until the very end.

The setting is extremely well done. The winter scenes were so real that I had shivers. I really felt as if I were right in the middle of the action, trying to use snowshoes, avoiding the ice, and so forth.

Mystery lovers of all ages are in for a real treat and a most exciting adventure if they pick up Thin Ice. I guarantee that once started, you won’t stop until the end.

Barring the usual teenage pranks, all seems peaceful at Philly Prep, the private school in Philadelphia where Amanda Pepper teaches English. No doubt the money that appears to be missing from funds collected to aid victims of a catastrophic hurricane Down South will turn up. Probably the rumor that some of Amanda’s students have discovered the thrills of gambling is totally unfounded.

Probably the most common factors that cause viagra uk this situation. Her husband, private investigator C. K. MacKenzie, is struggling to help his Louisiana kinfolk reconstruct their post-hurricane lives. Her friend Sasha’s stepmother has just committed suicide–although, according to Sasha, Phoebe Ennis would never have killed herself, especially not while having a drink and wearing a red silk blouse and red sandals with four-inch heels.

Amanda isn’t persuaded but reluctantly agrees to help investigate the woman’s demise, though the evidence for foul play is slim. True, the middle-aged compulsive collector of knickknacks wasn’t universally loved. Phoebe’s own son hated her and she bored her friends to death with hints of her “royal” lineage. And with four marriages behind her, she was already preparing to announce her renewed availability on the Net. But when another woman is found dead in Phoebe’s house, it becomes clear that something is indeed murderously amiss, and much closer to home than Amanda or anyone else could have imagined.

What do you do when you just know something is wrong in spite of all the logic and evidence to the contrary. Well, if you have a good friend who is training to become a private investigator, you plead with her to fly in the face of everything and find out the truth. Amanda’s best friend Sasha just knows that her step-mother did not commit suicide so she convinces Amanda and Mackenzie, her husband and a former police detective, to investigate.

Amanda Pepper is a wonderful character, well-defined, with a lot of depth. She teaches high school English at Philly Prep, an exclusive private school for underachievers. To supplement the household budget, she also works for a private investigator’s firm. The supporting characters are rich and interesting, including not only Sasha and Mackenzie, but also a number of quirky and fun characters especially among Amanda’s students. One of the most unusual of the secondary characters is Opal, the new school secretary. She is determined to rescue long lost words and keep them from falling into oblivion, and so Amanda learns the meaning of words such as archididascalos (school principal). When Amanda says that she has never heard of that word, Opal says, “Few have, alas. And amazingly, it’s not in every dictionary, but it is a perfectly good word.”

The plot is fast moving with plenty of suspects for what may or may not be a crime. Amanda has other things to worry about as well. Mackenzie’s family has been hard hit by the hurricane in Louisiana and he tries to help remotely. Students are gambling just off of school property and funds from the relief money meant to help the victims in Louisiana are being stolen. Amanda has too many irons in the fire, but somehow, she manages to stay on top of it all. The ending is something I never saw coming, but at the same time, the clues were there and the author certainly plays fair with her readers.

This is the fourteenth novel in the Amanda Pepper series and it is every bit as enjoyable and as fresh as the others. Like the others in the series, it also stands alone as a totally independent story. Great characters involved in an intricate plot that keeps the reader guessing right to the end makes All’s Well That Ends a great cozy mystery. Mystery readers are sure to enjoy riding along with Amanda.

Lights! Camera! Sadness…

Most girls would jump at the opportunity to model for a brand new cosmetics line, but Lisa Morgan is different. She resists being the “face” of Golden Girl until she learns it’s the only way she can save the career of the man she has come to love.
Getting this male impotence drug over the web let the patients save their time and go to these guys levitra generic efforts. Within days her new and glamorous lifestyle leads her into a web of jealousy and competition that she doesn’t understand. The man she loves is fighting with another for power over the company, while the old man in charge prepares to die. And when Lisa realizes that his last wish is to see the Golden Girl campaign succeed, she knows she’ll never be able to back out of the agreement, even though it is tearing her apart.

Reading Golden Girl is like opening a time capsule that shows just how much the world—especially the world of romance novels—has changed since this story was written thirty years ago.

Lisa Morgan is the heroine and golden girl of the title. She’s young—only twenty-two—and innocent to a degree that today’s heroines rarely are. Not just sexually inexperienced, but innocent of the ways of the world, especially the business world. A secretary, she’s roped into modeling for her company’s new cosmetics line, partly because she does not question the motivations or character of the people around her. If I didn’t quite buy the reason she continues with the modelling project, I did appreciate the degree to which Lisa grows and matures as a person because of it, and also because of her experiences with Alain and Paul, the handsome cousins at the center of a power struggle at the cosmetics company.

Paul Genet, the hero of the story, is a bit of a mystery to Lisa even though she knew him before her transfer to London—their mothers were friends and Lisa had a crush on Paul as a teenager. That previous acquaintance left the falling-for-each-other part of the romance a little more off-page than I would have liked, but the interesting details of the cosmetics launch were enough of a compensation that it didn’t bother me too much. There is a significant difference in Paul and Lisa’s ages (eleven years) creating an imbalance in the power dynamic of the relationship—especially since he is an executive at the company where she is a secretary. Lisa is awed as much as attracted by Paul at the beginning of the story, which means their romance is impeded by perhaps a few too many misunderstandings, but I enjoyed how Paul’s reaction to Lisa changes as she blossoms into a self-sufficient young woman.

Golden Girl is probably not for everyone—younger readers will likely be impatient with Lisa’s occasional passivity and naivete—but if you’re nostalgic for old-school romance, you will likely enjoy this trip back to the eighties as much as I did.

I am a big fan of this series and was excited to see this book come out and just had to read it. I loved meeting Vivian and Fergus and seeing how it all began. This is the story of the beginning of the present day Treeland pack that readers of this series know. Life brings Fergus and Vivian together and emotions take over. Fergus comes to New York for what he thinks is a quick stop in his travels but finds more than he bargained for and his stop may not be as quick as Fergus thinks it will be.

Emotions run high in this book and the attraction between Fergus and Vivian is there right from the start. I found myself falling for Fergus right along with Vivian. He is a strong alpha male who loves with all of his heart and is more than willing to do what it takes to care for his mate. He may seem old fashioned in some ways but Fergus will surprise you if you put him in a box. Vivian finds that her trust is not misplaced with Fergus. She may be a strong alpha herself but she needs someone to stand by her as well and Fergus may just be that man. Seeing the two work through their feelings and what they mean was a beautiful read. Both must find what they truly want and if they are willing to risk their hearts to get it. Their story is not only a hot read but it is also a wonderful romance making this fast paced read a book that should not be missed.

This novel is written from the perspective of George, a magical basset hound, and he does a very good job of telling the story. He is the familiar of a young twelve-year-old witch named Karly, and he takes his job of teaching and protecting her very seriously, most of the time. He needs to help solve a murder and save the park from being turned into condos.

George’s character is well-developed and consistent throughout the novel. In addition, Karly and her Aunt Heather are portrayed with good depth and believability. Point of view can be tricky in any novel, but in one where the main character is a dog, the task is much more complex. The author is more than up to the challenge as George never falters while he follows the scent and solves the mysteries.

I did find the constant use of “Peeps” for people tiring, as well as “Girlpup,” Boypup” “Packmom,” “Packdad,” and the like, but I honestly don’t know what dogs call humans, so I can hardly fault George’s language. The author has obviously studied basset hounds as George’s actions are consistent with his breed. And he is definitely loveable, even with his egotistical personality.

The pace of the novel starts out gently and then really speeds up as the action demands. George is able to do a lot of teaching, and Karly catches on quickly, although not as quickly as George wants. We don’t learn a lot about the developers, but then that is consistent with the point of view, as George really doesn’t care about them at all. He just wants to protect the park and solve the mystery of the bones he dug up.

It is very interesting to read a book told entirely from George’s perspective. It definitely limits the information that is disclosed, unless that information is about food. But George is a very clever dog and in the end he does manage to bring his “Peeps” together and solve the case. Lovers of animal stories are sure to enjoy following George as he saves the day.

KC Montgomery was eleven when she met the love of her life. Of course, seventeen-year-old Drake Gentry didn’t know she existed, but that didn’t stop her girlish fantasies from growing and changing over the years.

Now, after enjoying a front-row seat to his breakup with his latest girlfriend, she’s been handed an all-grown-up fantasy come true—two weeks at the Sand Castle Resort. With him.

Now that he’s facing a lonely vacation that was supposed to be for two, it seems only natural to accept KC’s offer to fill in. And as far as her terms go… No strings. No expectations. No holds barred. Drake is no fool—he’s all over it.

But once they’re back in Texas there are invisible strings still hanging between them. Strings labeled attraction, affection…even love. And the more they try to untangle the knots, the tighter they’re bound together.

An exotic location, a young girl’s crush all grown up and two consenting adults make this short love story. It is a story which grew on me after the first, more wobbly, third of the book and took me to a hot, pool filled land, despite the lashing rain outside. It is also, although part of the Texas Montgomery Mavericks series, readable as a standalone.

The wobbly start has no major stumbles, only odd phrases which jerk the reader from the tale a fraction. There are a few clichés such as ‘[He] didn’t know she existed’ but usually the issue is in the turn of phrase. For example. ‘Her mind- followed by her gaze – rolled to the late afternoon sun outside’. There is nothing obviously wrong here but the phrases are awkward.  Finally, I stumbled at the phrase ‘an older man of seventeen’ as an older man is usually someone creepy hanging around the younger crowd and seventeen is hardly a man, still a boy really. As D’Alba was using this phrase to show the passing of time from when KC Montgomery was eleven and her love interest was seventeen, a boy of seventeen would have worked better for me.

However, the main female protagonist – KC, or Kathryn Colleen Montgomery, is fully realised and in good style. She has a carefree, pioneering and sometimes philosophical spirit which is made clear in the narrative. She ‘point[s] the hood’ of the car towards her ‘Thank-God-It’s-Friday beer’ and she is sure ‘if this car could talk’ she would ‘collect valuable blackmail stories from her parents’ dating days when her dad was the coolest guy in town and this was his chick-magnet car’. This not only sets the scene and shows more of her personality but fills in some back-story seamlessly and with brilliant efficiency.

KC is a woman I understood, even if she lives more dangerously and confidently than I. She craves girl time to sort out what to do about boys – ‘she needed a trusted woman to call’ – but her confidence is clear, despite her nerves, so when she later throws down the gauntlet for her love interest, Drake, it made sense.

However, Drake is not as fully realised and full a character. He is good in bed and has a few witty comments to his name but I did not feel like I understood all of where he came from and where he was going. He just happened to be in town at the right time, got dumped (again) at the right time and had a holiday ready for KC to jump into. He is ‘sweet and loving to everybody’, as a lot of romance leads are but I needed more uniqueness to truly enjoy their union on holiday; he was too bland.

Having said that, the siren bikini and pools of warm water, jets of hot tub bubbles and scenic, half nude beaches were a brilliant setting for some heated love making which was breathy to read and hard to put down, hitting the key highs of any romance tale.

But Alice is damaged, and has a child from another man. Can Luke heal his broken mate, be a father to a little girl who isn’t his, and get past his own trust issues?

Alice was trapped in a relationship that was full of pain as the way to show love. Wanting to get out for her daughter but having trouble finding a way to escape, she’s seriously relieved when her abuser dies. It’s definitely fate since as soon as she settles in a new town she meets her fated mate in Dr. Luke Landon who’s a cougar shifter. I liked Alice, yes she stayed in a bad situation, but she did it to protect her daughter.

Luke is the perfect hero for her, strong, protective and willing to take it slow so Alice can be comfortable. I also enjoyed how soft and gentle he is with Joey and includes her when spending time getting to know Alice. There is a different dynamic when dealing with both a single mom and a past filled with abuse and I really do think Ms. Snow did a good job giving both of those issues the time and attention they deserved.

The story had lots of romance, friendship and the right amount of spice that I really enjoyed reading it. It’s a shifter story with fated mates but they don’t spend a lot of time in their animal forms, but there is a lot of animal instincts guiding actions. I recommend to fans of paranormal romance that like a hero and heroine that are set on healing each other and a cute child who just cements their bond.

He’s surprised to discover she’s successful, sexy, and divorced. Sadie had always been too good for the likes of him, a son of an alcoholic and slated to become no better. He should keep her at arm’s length, but he wants nothing more to burn up the sheets with the sassy lady she’s become.

Sadie isn’t fooled by the badassed, dangerous facade Ren wears like a second skin. She only sees the sweet yet conflicted boy she loved and lost all those years ago. Afraid to let him go off on another dangerous mission without knowing how she truly feels, Sadie needs to find the confidence to make the leap from friends to lovers.

Ren Ramsey hadn’t seen Sadie Ballew in over a decade, but she still looked like a gorgeous blast of sunshine even now. She’d been a loyal friend exactly when he’d needed one, and that wasn’t something the hard as nails SEAL was likely to forget. When Sadie had heard Ren would be in Key West for a few days R and R she’d booked a flight and hotel without even thinking about it. Ren wants to keep this one ray of sunshine in his life, cling to the friendship he’s always held dear with Sadie, but a man can only resist so much.

This is a lovely, spicy story of when childhood crushes finally get realized in adulthood. The author does an amazing job of presenting both Ren and Sadie. I found them interesting, vibrant characters from the first page and once I started reading about their reunion I just couldn’t stop. While this is one of a series, it’s not at all necessary to have read the other ones to fully enjoy this. Having said that, readers who want to catch up on the other SEAL team members exploits won’t find too many nuggets here. The men are all off for some R and R and the story focuses fully on Ren and Sadie. While I was pleased with this, fans of the other characters might be a bit disappointed.

The sex in this book is prolific and smoldering. There are a few oral sex scenes and some exhibitionism – both of which I found tastefully written and smoking hot to read. Definitely keep the oven mitts handy and a glass of cold water too. I really fell in love with Ren and found Sadie a perfect match for him. Finally, a heroine with a backbone who can still be sweet too! When Ren tries to ease her down gently, to “save” her from further heartbreak by letting her go, she verbally punches the hell out of him for it – and I laughed and cheered aloud at this. The only slight disappointment I had was there was no plot outside of Ren and Sadie getting together. There’s tension knowing Ren will have to go back out into the field, and the heat of them finally taking that step beyond friends was amazing, but a little more plot or conflict would have made this a perfect book. But I adored the characters and found this still a really excellent story and one I plan to recommend to friends.

Nothing is sexier than a man in uniform, and a SEAL who has overcome a hard past and finally claimed the women he grew up loving is a hard act to beat. With awesome characters, good pacing and a lovely writing style, Regina Carlysle is definitely someone I want to look into, and this series is one I plan to look up again.
