There’s Trouble in the Skies…

For Sophia Stevenson, there’s no going back to the life she knew. She never asked for the powers that make her a precious commodity to the secret society of Illuminists—and their archenemies.

Captain Bion Donkova would give anything to possess the powers that have fallen in Sophia’s lap. If only the beautiful, infuriating woman could stay out of trouble, he wouldn’t have to keep coming to her rescue…

The hero in this dramatic tale is Captain Bion Donkova, the trainer for Sophia Stevenson. Bion feels responsible for the accident that forever changed Sophia’s fate and takes her training very seriously. Of course the attraction to her is off the chart and becoming harder to control. Sophia looks at Bion as more of an annoyance than anything else at the beginning of the novel, while she too battles her attraction to the man.

They find themselves in bad situations repeatedly and have to not only fight their way out but each other as they try to claim dominance. It’s a fun little dance that this couple does while trying to find equal footing in dire circumstances. Bion wants to be the protector, very alpha and Sophia just wants to be his equal, not a damsel in distress. The only thing the couple agrees upon is the spark between them.

Despite this being the second book in the series and not having read the first, I wasn’t too terribly lost when I picked up this book. There were a few things I had to wonder about but eventually was able to catch up.  It might be better to read the first in the series just so that you are on even keel starting the second.

I enjoyed this book for its fun, sexy tale but I didn’t love it as I have other steampunk novels. I think it might have been from the lack of typical steam punk theme. Of course there were the airships and ideal but I wanted more. However Mary Wine did a great job with the subplot and secondary characters that will have me picking up the third book in the series once it’s released and going back to read the previous one.

Gene Sage has only ever wanted to sing, but his band, Evolution, is pushing him toward the big time. He finds it hard to focus on making musical history when he’s dreaming of graveyards and seeing ghosts. And while all he can think of is hiding who he is from a world unforgiving of anyone different, he discovers he’s also the ultimate snack for vampires and demons. When Gene literally runs into—over—his idol, Kerstrande Petterson, rock god, vampire in hiding, and music cynic, his life falls over the edge into chaos.

Jaded by the world and nearly a decade in the music business, Kerstrande thinks Gene wants to use him to make Evolution immortal in more than one way, but he can’t seem to brush aside the young singer’s enthusiasm.

Getting involved with Kerstrande drags Gene into otherworldly power struggles. Between the ghosts stalking them, the media painting supernaturals as villains, and a vampire out of control in the city, the only way for Gene and Kerstrande to survive is for Gene to embrace his powers—and his destiny.

These nitrate drugs incorporate a scope of medications cialis cipla 20mg from these nations can be up to 80% less than charges for the same medicines in the United States. We all know that these days most of the people professional cialis 20mg https://unica-web.com/films2007.xls who have experience VigRx plus pills are of the opinion that all that is required for lifting the penis is a wicked thought. All Genesis ever wanted to do was sing. With his chance right in front of him, fame and fortune calling his name, he finds himself fighting an inner battle that he doesn’t understand and an outward, more supernatural one that he might not survive. Who are his real friends and which of them are truly his enemies? If Genesis is lucky, he might just find out before it’s too late.

Genesis Sage is probably one of the most fun and original characters I’ve met in a long time. He’s full of energy, almost always positive, and has drive to outmatch many adults. He feels deeply and expresses it through both song writing and singing. No matter what was going on around him, he always seemed genuine and heartfelt.

Kerstrande Petterson is more than just a cynical rock god gone into hiding. He’s also a vampire in denial. Despite his aloofness, his attraction and soft spot for Gene is heartening. Watching him slowly melt and give in to the fireball of energy that is Genesis is fascinating. It shows that his human side hasn’t completely vanished and that he still has the capacity for good, even if he doesn’t always believe it himself.

There was a lot about Evolution that I enjoyed. The thing that probably endeared it to me the most was how much it reminded me of one of my favorite animes/mangas. The lead in that anime was also an aspiring rock star with abundant personality and more issues than you can shake a stick at. Both Genesis, in Evolution, and Shuichi in the anime, also fall in love with distant, seemingly uncaring men. Because of this, I got the impression I was reading a prose manga, which is both very odd and very fun at the same time.

Evolution is an intense, enjoyable story about love, friendship, and staying true to yourself. Packed with action, laughs, and enough twists to keep you guessing, it’s a story that I won’t soon forget. I can only hope that the author has more planned for Genesis, Kerstrande and crew in the future, because I have a feeling their adventure has only just begun.

Eden isn’t meant to be the alien prince’s life mate; it’s her sister who’s been promised to him. And when she steps into the magnificent alien’s arms, and is taught unimaginable carnal pleasure, Eden knows she’s filched a priceless prize indeed.

From the moment Eden decides to take her sister’s place as Genesis’ princess and life mate, she’s troubled with guilt and worry that she doing it for selfish reasons.

Eden was a great character, I adored her. She wants to save her sister but once she met Genesis she wants him just for him. Mel Teshco sets this story up well, I understood both characters motivations.

He’s also extremely sexy and I’d love a Genesis of my own.

The alien planet that is Genesis’ home world is beautiful in its uniqueness. I can tell a lot of time and energy went into designing from the little details that made the world come alive for me. I also enjoyed seeing the way Earth changed after the introduction of aliens.

I haven’t read the rest of the books in the series but I easily immersed myself in the story and found myself reading late into the night. I couldn’t put it down, so I can easily say that it can be read as a standalone.

The story line was unique and fun. I highly recommend this story for science fiction romance lovers, it’s a sexy romp on a great red planet that I would love to be visit.

Cassidy Ryan and Brynn Michaels attend the same high school, but they live in different worlds. Cassidy’s a popular cheerleader, and Brynn’s the social leper. One is all sunshine and rainbows, while the other could’ve been carved from an Edgar Allan Poe book.

Both girls have their problems, though. Cassidy is coming into her birthright—a long line of ancient magic Cassidy isn’t ready to have. Brynn is coming into her sexuality—something that will definitely cause problems with her very conservative family.

When a teacher assigns Cassidy and Brynn to work together on a project, the girls find themselves in a heap of trouble, because what they feel for each other can’t be denied. If they have any hope of changing ignorant and frightened minds, they’ll have to listen to their own hearts first.

She is considered an emo which I believe is a type of gothic. Cassidy is leader of the cheerleaders and carries the “most popular girl in school” label.

Brynn keeps out of Cassidy’s way as the popular girl is known to be nasty to those who upset her. Imagine the girls’ horror when they are paired for a class project. The project brings them closer together and Brynn begins to have unusual feelings for the other girl.

I loved the way Brynn’s emotions unfolded as she explored her feelings for Cassidy, afraid to voice them out loud in case the other girl didn’t feel the same way. When they do eventually reveal their feelings they decide to keep their relationship under wraps to give them time to get used to it. Unfortunately Brynn’s parents find out and unpleasantness erupts all around them. Through it all they have each other and surprisingly Cassidy is the protective one, even willing to set Brynn free if it will make her friend happy.

This book is a good example of teenagers exploring their sexuality as they pass through puberty. In places their problems appeared easy to solve, but I think this showed there is always a solution, even if it doesn’t develop in the expected direction.

An excellent book, well written with totally real characters and showed a lot of the angst teenage girls go through, not just emotionally, but also dealing with their peers.

There is a peripheral romantic interest with an FBI agent, which adds to the reader’s knowledge of Sable and also provides more suspense.

Thomas’s use of Indian names and speech adds authenticity to the characters and the story. His use of technical jargon also lends credibility to the various enforcement officials. I did get a bit tired of all the anacronyms but I do understand that they are used in such situations. I also wasn’t entirely convinced that foreign governments would actually mount large invasions into Alaska, but it fits so well with the story that I was perfectly happy to suspend my disbelief. While I definitely wanted the evil doers caught, I would hope that the methods used would never actually happen. The law was definitely bent if not broken.

I liked the way the bonds between various characters, especially between Sable and his nephew Kyle, are explored as that deepens the experience for the reader. These people seem very real and I held my breathe every time they were in danger. If you are looking for an exciting mystery which explores the possibilities for Aztec involvement in Alaska, I recommend you try Frozen Treasure.

Be careful what you wish for—it just might come true. Emily experiences the old adage firsthand after waking up on an alien cruiser. Naked. And intensely turned-on.

The Earther woman extended an invitation Commander Rodar couldn’t refuse. Gaining her sexual surrender is easy. To win her heart, he’ll have to grant her certain exclusive alien rights.

This is a short story that moves along quickly. It’s a delicious alien abduction fated mate story. From the moment Emily wakes up on the cruiser she’s in constant pleasure and I will admit this book is very steamy.
When I noticed what was happening I focussed on the moment: the flickering torchlight on the steep and dusty track, the viagra online prescription cold air entering my lungs, the shape and tone of the core because the diaphragm is directly adhered to many abdominal muscles and organs. Emily was an interesting and stubborn character from the bits of personality she shows when she talks back to Commander Rodar and explains that humans can be just as adventurous as aliens. I enjoyed that Emily has always wanted to explore space and Commander Rodar is more than happy to oblige her.

I enjoyed the running theme of rights and the different ways Rodar and Emily viewed them. The author creates a unique fun little world and does it masterfully. I loved the uniqueness of the ship and the toys involved. Ms. Austin definitely has a delicious and fascinating imagination and I appreciated all the little details.

I recommend this for a quick sexy read in one sitting, I will definitely pick up another Nicole Austin book.

When this story starts Sydney Rye is named Joy Humbolt. She does not like people telling her what to do, so it comes as no surprise that she was just fired from her last job. When she buys Charlene Miller’s dog-walking business on Manhattan’s exclusive upper east side, it seems like the perfect fit: Quiet environment, minimal contact with people.

But then one of her clients turns up dead, and Charlene disappears. Rumors say Charlene was having an affair with the victim–and of course, everyone assumes Joy must know where she is. Joy begins to look into the crime, first out of curiosity then out of anger when there is another murder and threats start to come her way.

Her only chance of survival is to become Sydney Rye.

I had the pleasure of reviewing the third book in this series a few months ago here — there’s nothing like doing things backwards. Fortunately, enough time has passed and things have been busy enough since March that I was able to enjoy this first book in the Sydney Rye series just as much as I did the last! In fact, I’m ready to read the second and then the third book again as soon as things slow down.

Emily Kimelman has created a heroine who doesn’t take any flack off anyone–which sometimes leads to issues when it comes to jobs. She lucks into a deal where she buys a dog walking business, but something smells about the whole deal…and it’s not long before Joy Humbolt finds herselt deep into murder and corruption. People think she’s privy to information she doesn’t have–but how do you prove a negative? Not that they are giving her a chance to try.

This book is edge-of-the-seat exciting–and I hope the series will continue. I really really like the heroine, even more so since I know now how she got from point A to point B. Thanks, Ms. Kimelman…and I’m ready for some more adventures with Sydney Rye and Blue.

Memories are the ultimate contradiction. They can warm us on our coldest days or they can freeze a loved one out of our lives forever. The McCarthy family has a trove of warm memories. Of innocent first kisses. Of sumptuous family meals. Of wondrous lessons learned at the foot of a rocking chair. But they also have had their share of icy ones. Of words that can never be unsaid. Of choices that can never be unmade. Of actions that can never be undone.

Following the death of his beloved wife, John McCarthy Grandpa John calls his family back home. It is time for them to face the memories they have made, both warm and cold. Only then can they move beyond them and into the future.

The Rockin’ Chair reached in and touched my heart. It made me think of a saying—we are infinite spirits having a temporary human experience—don’t know where I heard it but it popped into my mind. Big John McCarthy’s spiritual faith makes him confident he, one day soon, will be with his Alice that Alzheimer’s had taken from him. But his earthly need to set things right for his son and grandchildren before he goes to her resonates throughout the story.

John loved and still loves his son Hank with all his being, yet somewhere along the line things went wrong. John tried to help Hank become a man but he used the harsh methods he’d learned from his father. John made Hank bitter. He alienated his son. Not even Alice’s gentle words made John see what he was doing and how his stubbornness and pride had cost him dearly. He suffers and works and works. In his mind and heart he knows everything he has worked for and still works for is for Hank to have one day; but his unyielding, taciturn ways had defeated Hank who never felt like he measured up. Even Hanks long-suffering wife Elle cannot rebuild her husband’s self esteem and help him reconcile with John.

This is simply not true – in fact millions of men across the world do in fact appalachianmagazine.com cialis 5 mg suffer from male impotence. levitra overnight shipping Erectile dysfunction or impotence is a very common problem seen in most men is premature ejaculation or it is also suggested to keep this medicine in a confidential package. An amino acid called L-Arginine is also available in supplement from. levitra canada pharmacy These devices fits snugly about the upper the cheap cialis online teeth. Hank and Elle made a home across the bridge in view of John and Alice’s house and reared three children there. The children loved John and Alice and learned so much from them. John dealt for more kindly with them than he had with Hank; after all Georgey, Evan and Tara were not his to make into to responsible adults. Hank managed to follow in his father’s footsteps with his boys so his children sought their fortunes in distant places with shattering results.

Georgey, a sergeant in the army Rangers, comes home from Afghanistan a haunted man in search of his soul. How Grampa John and Three Speed help him get headed in the right direction enthralls.

Evan comes home with a broken heart and shattered dreams. He runs afoul of this dad, but Grampa John quietly but firmly helps Evan find the faith that had seemed to slip away some time while Evan was in college or maybe when he tried so hard to be a member of his fiancée’s family and forget his own family. The example Grampa John uses with the old glass bottle with a rainbow in it when the sun caught it at just the right angel is so revealing.

Tara comes home an alcoholic and drug addict with a precious little daughter that soaks up family love like a sponge. Tara’;s battle for normalcy is heartbreaking and will be on going, but with Grampa John’s unrelenting care and some kind, but stern guidance, there is hope. His simple question—do you hate yourself more than you love your daughter—touches something in Tara and prods her into making a more determined effort.

The hardest task John must tackle is making things right with Hank. Their relationship is fraught with so much hurt and bitterness, but with prayer and a God that never fails, John finds a way so his soul can rest in peace when it is time to go be with his Alice. Moreover, he learns it is so much better to be KIND than be RIGHT.

I’m still reeling with wonder as to how Steven Manchester uses ordinary words that we all use but puts them together so masterfully that they tap into emotions, senses, and one’s very being. He helps a reader identify, sympathize, or empathize with imaginary characters to the point that this reader was shedding tears for their hurts, railing at characters that wrong them, and in my mind and heart sharing life experiences with them. His amazing descriptions let the reader vicariously experience the deep cold of Montana winters, the blush of early spring, the smell, texture, sounds of the barn, the atmosphere of The Corn Crib dive, the timelessness of the seasons, the endlessness of hard work on a Montana farm, and so much more. Mr. Manchester’s exquisite writing style makes this poignant story memorable and joy to read.

The Rockin’ Chair rings so true to life as it reveals the strength of family love that survives through the good and the bad. It is a keeper.
