Before they can carry out their plan to run away and marry, fate intervenes, leaving Conor murdered and Maddie dead by her own hand. Their souls are cursed for eternity – with a twist. Conor will have three chances to undo the damage that was done and save them both.

At the turn of each century, on the anniversary of their deaths, Conor will take on his wolf form with one quest in mind – find Maddie and convince her to believe in once again, wherever she is and whoever she has become.

Maddie and Conor were sweethearts back in a past life in Dublin. Returning home to ask for her hand in marriage, they’re both terrified when Conor’s shapeshifting secret was discovered and a mob greeted them at her doorstep. Star-crossed, unknowing fear and an accident cuts short their potential life together. In the present day, Trinity lives out in her grandparent’s old cabin in the woods. One afternoon when she’s attacked by a bear, a silver wolf rescues her. Conor only has this one last shot to right the wrongs done to them, and he hopes to show Trinity/Maddie just how much he loves her.

A really interesting story, this is quite a different take on your average werewolf/shape changer kind of story. With a dash of angst and plenty of twists the author takes you on a wild ride full of adventure and passionate romance. The is plenty of unresolved sexual tension, but not a lot of explicit romance in this book – so those wanting to only dabble on the spicier side may find this a wonderful place to start. There were a few sub-plots that, while they felt a little tacked on, definitely added a depth and more dimension to Conor and Trinity’s reuniting. This short story was definitely a unique look on not just a tale of lovers finding their right time and place, but also the mythology of werewolves.

A fun and different read, this short story is definitely worth reading.

Rosemary and Larry Mild, have created an exciting new mystery series featuring reluctant amateur sleuths, Daniel and Rivka Sherman. The Shermans have given up successful professional careers as engineer and editor to become booksellers in The Olde Victorian book store in Annapolis, Maryland.
Rare fifteenth century typesetting artifacts journey through time to the present, leaving behind not only their original innovation but a horrifying imprint of murder, robbery, kidnapping, and mugging in their wake.

Professor Abner Fraume, brother of the bookstore’s former owner, possesses these artifacts and gives his life to protect their whereabouts. A greedy colleague poses as one of several newcomers to a literary critique group sponsored by The Olde Victorian Bookstore. This villain leaves a trail of disaster in Bath England; Annapolis Maryland and the Deep South. Dan and Rivka Sherman risk life and limb solving puzzles to locate the hidden artifacts and unmask the manic-depressive suspect behind the crimes. The conundrum’s path involves the internet, a young lad’s term paper, the U.S. Mails, the FBI, and Scotland Yard. Is it any wonder that Death Goes Postal?

Who knew that taking over a bookstore would prove to be so dangerous?

The authors have written other Dan and Rivka Sherman mysteries, but this is the first one I’ve read. Part of my interest in the story stemmed from the setting in the bookstore, which is an old Victorian home. The authors include a lot of detail about how antique printing was done and the proper names for the equipment used. You learn something as you read this mystery, which is a nice touch. I was expecting this to be more of a cozy mystery, but the authors surprised me by making this a very suspenseful story with an ironic ending.

The man who acquired the antique printing equipment wanted to donate it to museum and knew another man lusted over it. He sent notes to his sister as clues to the location of the antiques. Dan and Rivka end up buying the store from this man’s sister. She has hidden the clues in the house, but they aren’t sure where. They also don’t get the message from her about the mystery until it’s almost too late. What makes the story interesting is that you have several suspects. They have a mystery critique group that is suddenly gaining new members; new members no one has seen before. How can they determine who the suspect is? They all appear normal…

The pace picks up dramatically when Rivka is kidnapped. She’s afraid of being killed because she knows too much about him and I could feel her fear. The authors express emotion well and their words make you feel the tension grow.

The story flows well, the intensity of the plot keeps you turning pages, and I was almost afraid to see what happened at the end. The authors handled that well and in a believable manner. All in all, it was an interesting tale with characters you could relate to and enjoy reading about. Why not give it a try and see if it raises your heart rate?

After nearly losing her life because of her unsolicited involvement in a recent murder case, Jessie vows to mind her own business this time. However, in Thicker Than Water, Jessie again fails and finds herself in the middle of a web of family intrigue that stretches back four generations.

When Fred Kroner died, he left his millions to a long-lost niece, Johanna Kroner, that no one knew existed. This ignites a fierce family battle. The bequest includes a reward to the person who locates the niece. In case she cannot be found or is proven dead, Fred’s nephew and a televangelist will split the spoils.

A badly charred body of a female with a bullet hole through her forehead is found in the ashes of the old homestead after it had been deliberately torched. A driver’s license issued in the name of Johanna Kroner is found at the scene.

Is the body really Johanna? If so, why was she in the supposedly empty house? If not, who is the dead woman, and why was she shot? And why the deception? Could it be the work of one of the backup legatees, the nephew or the reverend. The questions continue to multiply. Jessie’s work is cut out for her.

Every time Jessie feels she has solved one mystery, another appears to cloud the final answer. She and Gil try to get a quiet weekend together but even this is shattered when another fire drags them home before the weekend is over.

This story is funny, mysterious and at times scary. Gil always has a rational explanation for everything. Jessie’s imagination is forever running wild. Well, she is an author. The quiet Spencer County has never before experienced such criminal activities in their community. Jessie believes it all hinges on Fred Kroner’s last will and testament. She tries to find a connection between the inheritors and people she suspects might benefit from the fires and accidents, but Gil tries to dissuade her from getting involved.

Definitely a mystery with suspense thrown in, plus a smattering of romance. I enjoyed reading this as I felt I was there with Jessie, experiencing things when she did, feeling the love of Gil, working through the mystery and feeling scared by the information she uncovers. This is definitely a book I’d read again. The intrigue brings it to life and the characters are true to life people like the next door neighbor. Like everyone, the neighbors have their own secrets, some of which are uncovered by Jessie.

Ms Majerus has definitely worked hard on “Thicker Than Water” to make it the best book possible.

Lady Eve’s Got The Perfect Plan

Pretty, petite Evie Windham has been more indiscreet than her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Moreland, suspect. Fearing that a wedding night would reveal her past, she’s running out of excuses to dodge adoring swains. Lucas Denning, the newly titled Marquis of Deene, has reason of his own for avoiding marriage. So Evie and Deene strike a deal, each agreeing to be the other’s decoy. At this rate, matrimony could be avoided indefinitely…until the two are caught in a steamy kiss that no one was supposed to see.

Lady Eve, pretty, petite, with phenomenal inner strength and awareness of who she is as an individual, is the youngest of the Duke and Duchess of Moreland’s children.

The marvelous Morelands with all their scandals, familial loyalty, and love rally around their little Evie as she begins to live again after seven years of struggling back from a horrible accident and an even more horrible experience with a crude, deceiving cad. She worked long and hard to regain her physical good health and has tried to do the same with her heart but it still has deep wounds that refuse to heal. The family’s humor, honesty, and protectiveness is amazing to see as they set in to see that she has a chance to become sparkling, mischievous, happy person she had once been.

Lucas Dennning, the new Marquis of Deene is a longtime friend and neighbor of the Morelands and served on the peninsula with two of Eve’s brothers. He and Eve shy away from each other because of a kiss under the mistletoe in an uninhibited moment when Eve was quite young. He has always been like another brother, but little by little, even though both of them vow they are just protecting each other from the social “hunters”, they find a unique connection that begins to smolder, sizzle then flame into a breathtaking love.

As Marquis of Deene, Lucas has a load of responsibility to deal with, something quite new to him. Also, he is determined to gain custody of his dead sister’s child to honor his sister’s wish and to give the darling little Georgina a home and place in society that befits her heritage on her mother’s side. Lucas also has Anthony, his cousin, to deal with. Anthony has supervised the stewards over the Deene lands for years. He will inherit the title should Lucas die before producing an heir.

The conflicts that ensue create intriguing, often heart-pounding moments. But the most captivating and sparking moments are the ones that Eve and Lucas share as their love grows with the various members of the Moreland family giving it a nudge every chance they get.

Grace Burrowes’ stories about each of the Duke and Duchess’ of Moreland offspring as they find true love are all magical and Lady Eve’s story is one of the best of them. Even though the reader is immersed in Lucas and Eve’s story, we also get glimpses of how Eve’s siblings are faring and how they all still secretly maneuver to influence events, to protect their own, and nurture each other as well as their own young families.

Ms. Burrowes’ well-researched historical settings, her exquisite writing style, her talent to develop riveting characters, her skill in sprinkling humor in at just the right time, and her delectable, sensual, compelling love scenes make Lady Eve’s Indiscretion  a spellbinding, vicarious experience for the reader.

If you enjoy Regency historical, I recommend the entire series of books about the Morelands. Each book is quite different from the other yet they join in such ways as to show the strong, unbreakable ties that bind the family into a cohesive unit that will stand against the world to protect their own. The stories are replete with conflicts, rich with humor, and sizzle with love. They are like a set of jewels that go together with each of them uniquely cut to make them sparkle in their own special way.

I’m looking forward to Jenny’s story that will be the eighth book.

For centuries, the bards have sung of King Arthur’s return, but is this reluctant warrior prince the answer to those prophecies?

In the year 1399, Welsh nobleman Owain Glyndwr is living out a peaceful gentleman’s life in the Dee Valley of Wales with his wife Margaret and their eleven children. But when Henry of Bolingbroke, the Duke of Lancaster, usurps the throne of England from his cousin Richard II, that tranquility is forever shattered. What starts as a feud with a neighboring English lord over a strip of land evolves into something greater—a fight for the very independence of Wales.

Leading his crude army of Welshmen against armor-clad columns of English, Owain wins key victories over his enemies. After a harrowing encounter on the misty slopes of Cadair Idris, the English knight Harry Hotspur offers Owain a pact he cannot resist.

Peace, however, comes with a price. As tragedies mount, Owain questions whether he can find the strength within himself not only to challenge the most powerful monarch of his time, but to fulfill the prophecies and lead his people to freedom without destroying those around him.

Read an excerpt:

Lord Reginald de Grey of Ruthin leered at his discovery. Swarming around him was a full corps of fifteen huntsmen, lesser lords eager to impress. One rushed in and rammed a spear into the deer, although it was a task that need not have been done.

“Aha! My gratitude, good men, for bringing down my prize,” Grey proclaimed.

“Your prize?” Owain started forward. “These are my lands you’re on. And well you know it. You are beyond your bounds. Parliament has upheld my claims on Croesau.”

“Richard’s parliament.” Grey clucked his tongue in admonishment. “’Tis a hard task to wield influence from a dungeon.”

Owain’s arms were locked stiffly at his side, though they had the strength to heave the dripping, dog-shredded carcass at Grey’s head. “Take it. Take the hide and the meat and the bloody set of antlers. But don’t come back. This land is not yours.”

Incidentally, I took liberty to evict some troublesome peasants of yours in the next valley.”

Owain sprang forward. “You have no right!”

“Yes, yes… hmmm. We shall see who has rights. Anyway, they were a little, shall we say, obstinate. A torched roof is very convincing. It has a tendency to make people into believers.”

On the space station known as Moon Talk, engineers and poets work together to prototype and manufacture communications satellites. The founder of the station decided to include poets because they specialize in communicating high-density information in very short bursts.

Angel, a 20-year-old robotics engineer, is visiting Moon Talk on a poetry/engineering internship when an accident on the station’s hull leaves her paralyzed. Unable to return to Earth where the relentless pull of gravity would kill her, Angel must make the station her home.

Though her body is trapped, the poets and engineers who run Moon Talk find a way for Angel’s consciousness to escape the confines of the station. The robotics staff jacks Angel first into a robotic unit on the station’s hull, and then into a body that can move about the station’s interior. She inhabits a robotic probe that prospects among the orbiting rocks of the asteroid belt. But that’s just the beginning of Angel’s journey.

I would have preferred to see a more thorough explanation of how Angel survived the accident. While the space station she lives on is quite technologically advanced it was a stretch to believe they’d have access to all of the specialized equipment necessary to keep a quadriplegic alive. Has anyone figured it out already?

Poor Noah is so deeply connected to his family, girlfriend and Jewish heritage that sometimes he can’t see where they end and he begins. Other secondary characters like Rosalia and Aisling, wives of Ciaran and Aiden MacGregor add humor, wisdom, and unswerving loyalty to the hero and heroine. The intrepid little boy John brings a special type of loyalty to the story.

Victoria Roberts blends in just enough seventeenth-century English history to set the reader firmly in the time and place but doesn’t overdo it. She uses it to augment the development of the characters making them vibrant and compelling. As the plot unfolds, her characters seem to come alive.

If you have read her previous books about the MacGregor clan, you will recognize some of the characters. It is captivating to catch up with how their lives are progressing. But most enchanting is getting to share an adventure with the irascible Declan and the determined Liadain as they mature and come into their own through emotional upheavals, near-death experiences, and an awakening of love that revs up the heart rate and heats the blood—love scenes sizzle.

When Lila unwillingly moves to the country town of Shade, she can’t imagine the life-altering events that lie in wait for her. Shade has a curfew and has always been surrounded by myths. A central feature of the town is its famous statue of Artemis, Goddess of the Hunt, whose spirit is said to protect the innocent.

Lila begins to feel a call she cannot ignore. Yet her heart is filled with vulnerable desires that begin to turn the underworld upside down, for both hunter and hunted, as she learns they have been waiting for her… Inspired by the legend of the mythical femme fatale, Wolf Sirens is an intimate tale of unrequited and forbidden love in the underworld, a masterpiece of romance fantasy.

An interesting twist on your typical werewolf story, Wolf Sirens: Forbidden was a good, compelling read.

Our heroine is a mixed up teenager who, after moving to the odd little town of Shade, finds herself pulled between various groups at school. She’s especially shocked with the “in” crowd wants her to hang out with them. But strange things happen, including a cryptic warning from the very odd Cresida, that starts Lila on a path she’d never expected.

I liked this book. Its story was different, full of angst and conflict, has the (now required) love triangle of sorts, and plenty of suspense. I liked that I, as well as our heroine, didn’t know who to trust. Nothing is as it seems, and friends and enemies aren’t who you suppose at all. The author is skilled, and her writing itself solid, but I do wish the book hadn’t been quite as long. There were several places where things dragged and I found myself skimming and waiting for something new to happen.  The book would have been well-served by having a skilled editor tighten things up a bit.

Still, the book was a good read and the ending leaves no doubt that it’s part of a series. I admit to not believing the ending is true (and I imagine Lila will feel the same as the next book starts). Thankfully, many ends are wrapped up with the book, but many more threads are left hanging or introduced.

A solid start to a decent paranormal YA, I enjoyed Wolf Sirens: Forbidden and will absolutely pick up the next in the series to see what happens next.

Magical, Mystical, Sensual . . . Enjoyable! While definitely all about the sex, this story brings a clear plot and a well-thought world in which our heroes and heroine have the pleasure of interacting. Perhaps I should say heroes and heroines . . . as the dragons are most certainly a major player in the plot of the story.

There is never any inter-species hanky panky occurring, but the plot outlines a world where the dragon and its rider are so connected that both the dragon and rider are able to share feelings – including the sexual urges and desire that occur when the dragon is coupling with its mate. Of course, those feelings are intense, and of course they last for a very long time. (Dragons may be able to keep it in check for a very long time, but when they let loose . . . one should apparently be ready for almost anything!)

The shared feelings and a lack of available females leads to an openness within the community around sex, and while there is no voyeurism involved, interaction may not be entirely behind closed doors . . . especially during a wedding! The lack of females also leads to an accepted practice of knights sharing mates – which is the case in this particular story. While there are sexual interactions between Gareth and Belara only, once Belara and her mother are brought back to the lair, that quickly changes, and Lars is added to the mix.

There is an attempt made to slowly introduce the reader to multiple partners and all of the sexual exploits that situation can bring about. But, truly, there is lots and lots of sex in many different ways, shapes and forms. Outside of the sex, the plot does continue, and there is an epic battle scene described, and Belara’s mother encounters the healing powers of a dragon. It’s after this battle that Belara finds her dragon healing powers, and further cements her place within the community.

A brief note: I was not especially happy with the ending of this story. It is a “happily for now”, but it does set itself up to lead directly into a new book . . . a continuation of the story. Although not labeled as part of a series, the front cover lists the story as “Dragon Knights” – leading me to believe we will encounter this dragon community again, if not these particular characters again. That isn’t a bad thing.

A nice combination of fantasy and sex, this book is a nice one to pick up and lose yourself in! Enjoy!
