The world has been devastated by a virus, leaving only the strong to survive…

All of her life, Kerigan LaRoux has had visions of the immediate future. Her dreams are of one man, Hyde Galloway, and a vision that draws her to San Francisco. She finds him wounded, in the middle of a gang war. She hides him and treats his wound.

Although he is suspicious of her, he tells her he’s trying to catch a boat to Canada where the world is starting over. Much to his annoyance, she tags along. At first he doesn’t believe in her visions but little by little she wins him over.
It is effective, reliable, dependable, affordable, handy and viable treatment for cost of viagra all kinds of erection problems. These Chinese claim lowest price cialis this drug as a treatment for erectile dysfunction but it is not considered as an erectile dysfunction treatment but it’s an Overall Mens sexual health booster. InLife better recognized as Revelle was co-founded in 2007 by a panel of flourishing business entrepreneurs namely Steve Youngblood, Simon Lu, Craig Youngblood, Gino Ferrare and David viagra online uk greyandgrey.com Allen Baker.
They race against time, trying to save a colony of survivors from the gangs who want slaves. But can Kerigan save the man she loves, the innocent lives waiting for salvation, as well as herself?

For all her life Kerigan had dreamed about the large, handsome solider Hyde Galloway. She knew it meant she had the sight – a gift and curse passed on from her grandmother, but it wasn’t until her dreams changed and her grandmother admitted she, too, had Seen the world as they knew it ending that Kerigan knew she had to act on her vision and do what she could to help Galloway do what he must. Two decades later and much of what Kerigan saw and knew had come true. Unable to direct or select her visions – only able to follow where they led, she knew things would come to a head soon.

I found this to be an interesting and action-packed short story. Apocalyptic stories feel a bit strange to read in the current circumstances, but I found this to be fast moving enough and with an intriguing enough premise that I couldn’t go past it. The story is primarily focused on Kerigan and Hyde, but I was surprised and pleased when mid-way through they hook up with Nolan and Lainey – the two main characters from a previous story. While I have read that previous story (Come With Me) I truly feel it’s not necessary to have read it to enjoy this story. Admittedly having read Lainey and Nolan’s story I found it enriched this book, but Believe In Me stands very well by itself and I don’t think readers picking this up will miss anything plot wise.

If the world built into this story was anything other than an “after the virus wipes most of the human population out” style of scene I’m not sure the quickness Kerigan and Hyde came together would be realistic. While they certainly didn’t trust each other there was a definite and near-immediate bond between them. Part of me feels this was a bit too quick, particularly when Hyde explains he’d been sexually abused as a young man. I just struggled with him telling Kerigan some very dark secrets, and then them being intimate literally in the moments following that admission. I found it jarring and a little odd. I understood how Kerigan and Hyde needed to trust each other were linked in numerous ways, but I can understand if some readers feel they need to disconnect their brains a little and just enjoy the story for what it is and not throw too much logic at the situation of the world having survived the ravages of a virus.

This short story ended on a high note, but more of a Happy For Now style. I expect there will be another book coming some time in the future as the ending closed out this section of the story but left a clear trail of where I expect the author plans to lead into the future. Kerigan and Hyde’s part of the story seemed to be fairly well rounded though and I was satisfied with where the author left us.

With interesting characters, a strong and action-packed post-virus, apocalyptic world and a fast paced story this was a great, quick read.

Cody can’t help but watch Barker, even if he knows it’s stupid, especially around the full moon. Even with sunglasses to hide his deformity, though, he can’t keep Barker away from him, and he can’t manage to say no when Barker calls Cody “mine”.

Barker has never agreed with the pack banishing Cody. So what if Cody doesn’t fit into the narrow confines of what the pack says is normal? He should never have let Cody go, and he’s not about to let his mate slip through his fingers again.

When the pack finds out he’s back in town, the pack is concerned enough to stick their noses in. When they discover that Barker may have figured out how to solve Cody’s shifter problems, the situation turns dangerous. The pack wants to make sure Cody’s secret doesn’t affect their entire way of life. Can Barker keep Cody safe, and make his mate understand that they’re meant to be together?

Cody is caught somewhere between being a man and a wolf. In agonizing pain every month but unable to fully change, he has struggled alone with this for more than ten years. He can’t help himself though, Cody is constantly drawn back to Barker, his mate, whom Cody can’t resist but equally can’t give in and finally bond with. Thrown out by the pack, cursed and assumed he would soon die, Cody knew his would be a life of isolation and pain. But Barker isn’t willing to give up on his mate and is determined there must be something they can do to help Cody. Can they find a way to work through this?

I enjoyed this paranormal romance. Cody and Barker have a bucket-load of chemistry and the attraction sizzles right from the very first page. While it’s clear the two men have been circling each other for years, the sex between them is explosive immediately and as the reader it took me a few minutes to catch up and realise this was far deeper and more emotional than an erotic story of insta-lust. Both Cody and Barker are right on the edge, having denied themselves over and over for a decade now and each have grown and matured to the point where they’re ready now to try and make their situation work.

Often these sort of highly intense and explicit paranormal stories are written so the growth between the main characters and the relationship itself is the plot – but I was really pleased the author made this story much more than that. While yes, Cody and Barker need to define and grow into their relationship and the issues they’ve each carried with them for their ten years of back-and-forth there was also quite a few other plotlines – Cody’s inner wolf, his inability to shift and the complications from his Clan and family having thrown him out and tried to kill him when he was excommunicated. There is quite a lot of other items happening in this story and I feel that balances out the large amount of explicit sex quite well.

I was impressed the author didn’t just hedge around a number of these plot points and personal issues – I feel they were well detailed and resolved throughout the story in between the sex and relationship development. While Cody and Barker’s relationship was central to the story I feel the author did justice to the paranormal plot and particularly the more complicated plot surrounding Cody’s family as well. Readers should be aware though that there is a suicide attempt in this story (not overly graphic and certainly not in a titillating manner) that might be difficult/confronting for some readers.

Seriously hot and explicit but with solid character development, a complicated relationship and a number of interesting sub-plots I really enjoyed this story and feel it should satisfy many readers.

So…Is Alexa Really Your Friend?

Hmmm…Friend?

She seems nice and helpful and all: “Alexa, what’s the weather today?”

And she’s not alone. They are ALL right there, sitting in an innocent pod on the table. Or hiding behind a friendly screen on your phone or ready to help on your tablet computer. Alexa…Siri…Cortana…and “Hey, Google!”

The corporate monsters of the Information Age.

“Hey, Siri. How do I get to the nearest emergency room?”

She’ll tell you how to get there in the three fastest ways and point out the directions on a map. And, yeah, it’s kind of annoying that you’ll start seeing advertisements from local hospitals on your web browser…over and over and over, again.

Just trying to be helpful.

Listen to billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk: “With artificial intelligence, we are summoning the demon.”

And that’s what that friendly little voice is all about: Artificial Intelligence.

“Hey, Cortana, what does the word ‘paranoid’ mean?”

It’s not paranoid if they are really out to get you—or your money.

Right now, they’re safe.  They can’t really go anywhere unless you move them.  But, remember, all of them—Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft—are heavily into chasing driverless cars.

Hey, Google. What did Forbes say about Amazon coming out with a driverless car?

“The great disruptor Amazon has taken its talent to the autonomous vehicles space with the purchase of  Zoox, led by CEO Aicha Evans for $1.2 billion. Amazon plans to work with Zoox to create a fleet of self-driving taxis, in competition with Alphabet’s Waymo.” (July 7, 2020)

And after that? They are going to put arms and legs on their cute little voice pods:

Add a little Dermaloy skin, a friendly, movie-star face and, there you go, we’re right there at the beginning of the Murder by Munchausen Series.

So, do I think Amazon, Apple, Google and Microsoft will try to kill you in your sleep?  Nah, they’re more interested in your money than anything else—which may be unsavory, but not demonic.

And it’s not really Artificial Intelligence that’s bad. I really think it is just the margarine of brainpower.

It is the ones you don’t see who will get you…and there, in the human heart, lies the devil.

This particular Android Subject apparently went off the rails and killed a luckless pedestrian on his way to a bodega for some iced tea or bottled water to quench his thirst. A one-in-a-million occurrence, but every so often it still happens. Anyone who believes technology is infallible is a fool. The incident didn’t appear all that nefarious when first reported, but shortly thereafter the Atlas data stream went dark and patrol called our unit in. It quickly became obvious we were dealing with a malware hit, not a malfunction. The luckless pedestrian was actually not so luckless, being on what appeared to be the winning side of a particularly nasty termination suit with his ex, who we suspected had outsourced the final settlement to extra-judicial parties.

It might not make sense, but the beloved Media tags it “Murder by Munchausen.” For a price, there are hackers out there who will reprogram a synthoid to do your dirty work. The bad news: no fingerprints or DNA left at the crime scene. The good news—at least for us—is that they’re like missiles: once they hit their target, they’re usually as harmless as empty brass. The trick is to get them before they melt down their core OS data, so you can get the unit into forensics for analysis and, hopefully, an arrest.

EC’s scanner returned a hard ping. His quick double blink put his cross-hairs up on my lens and I followed his eye line to the northwest corner of the building…

If you had to do something differently as a child or teenager to become a better writer as an adult, what would you do?

There is one thing that stands out the most when it comes to school. I wish I had paid more attention during those long boring classes on grammar. Of course they don’t make kids diagram sentences anymore, but if I knew all those funny little quirks of sentence structure and what all the parts are, it would make the editing process significantly easier. Let’s be honest, who knows what a hidden verb is. While I honestly never cared before I now wish I knew.

What is the most difficult part of your artistic process?

The most difficult part of being a writer is marketing, but since the question is about the artistic process, I’ll answer that too. I plot and outline my novels because for me that makes writing them go much faster. The challenge for me is usually the middle. I go into a new project with a clear beginning and end so writing act one and act three are pretty easy. It’s the middle part, act two, that always seems to trip me up. Bridging the gap between the beginning and end. What path do the characters take? What events should propel them along the way?

Some people would say just write and see where it goes. I took this approach with my first novel and ended up with an inflated manuscript that I cut over twenty-thousand words from. That’s a lot of extra work to just throw away. Sure I got through act two, but what a tremendous waste of time.

The middle is like the doldrums in the ocean, but you definitely don’t want that. The action and story need to move forward. You don’t want to leave your readers floating aimlessly in an ocean of meaningless words.

Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?

I wouldn’t say I purposefully hide secrets, but I often use symbolism that on the surface might be taken one way, but there are multiple ways to interpret it and often I’m not thinking of the most obvious when I write it. So people may just see the obvious, but if they think about it, there will be more to it.

If you didn’t write, what would you do for work?

I think the proper question is if my writing paid for itself what would I do for work? As it is, I’m a web developer full time spending hours writing boring code for websites that are less than interesting. Assuming my writing was extremely successful, and I didn’t have to spend my days writing code, I would pursue a career as a nature photography artist.

If I’m not working, or not writing I spend much of my time out walking trails photographing nature. Surprisingly, some of my photographs have even won awards in some contests I’ve entered. To be honest, making money in nature photography makes writing look easy.

Whether it’s writing or photography, a career in art or creativity would be what I would pursue.

What has been your hardest scene to write?

Without a doubt, the most difficult scene I’ve written to date is in the third novel of the Erin Kinglsy Saga. Since it hasn’t been published yet, I don’t want to spoil any of the fun, but the story took me to a place where my only way out was to do something terrible to one of the characters. I wrote it, changed it, rewrote it with at least a dozen different possibilities but none of them worked. I had to do it. As an author all the characters are your creation, even the villains. So it’s not without great regret when you do something awful to one of them.

Nicolas walked back to the door. He turned and said, “This is a mistake. Mark my words.”

Erin watched him go, then sank to the bottom step of the grand stairway. Her head fell into her hands. This wasn’t the last she’d hear of the High Priestess. More messengers would come. Maybe they wouldn’t ask politely. Maybe they would try to force her. Maybe it would just be more groveling fools like Nicolas. Whatever happened, she wouldn’t give in to them. She wandered back up the stairs into her bedroom. The room she never slept in. It was her retreat though. She picked up the picture of her and Gerry again. He was so happy, and so was she. She saw it in both of their eyes. Honest and genuine happiness. Something she lost. It had been a year since things fell apart. It still felt like the first night alone.

She set the picture down and flopped on the bed. She lay back and tried to forget. But she couldn’t. It was still too real, too raw. Tears rose again and slid down her face. They were lost in her hair, and she stared at the ceiling. There was nothing she could do about her past decisions.

The only way to go was forward. Unfortunately, it would be a painful path.

About the Author:I love a good paranormal read, something about the un-dead haunts the fringes of my mind. Mix in romance, love, loss, and you have a great story.

I voraciously read everything, fiction, and non-fiction but always find myself turning back to the darker stories. I’ve always wanted to write and the dream became a reality with Capital Thirst, and the remainder of the Erin Kingsly novels.

I spend most of my days designing and building websites, but my free time is devoted to my wife, family, and cats. Yes three grown children and three cats. Things can be hectic.

For fun you might find me driving winding roads with the top down or out photographing nature.
