Casey Schillinge is a vivacious young woman on the verge of making her mark on the world. While backpacking, she is struck down by a tropical disease and suffers cardiac failure. But at the eleventh hour, Casey receives a life-saving heart transplant – and a rare second chance to begin again.

Three years later, Casey has become a withdrawn shell of her former self: she is estranged from her loved ones, afraid of open spaces and rides the line between legitimate and criminal work. The worst of her troubles come in the form of violent night terrors; so frightening that she resorts to extreme measures to keep herself from sleeping. When she can take no more, she embarks on a desperate search for the source of her dreams. In so doing, she makes a shocking discovery surrounding the tragic fate of the donor whose heart now beats inside her chest. As she delves deeper into the mystery of her donor, she realizes her dreams are not a figment of her imagination, but a real life nightmare.

Imagine the suspense that is behind the whole idea of the transference of knowledge or preferences going from the donor to the recipient. Isn’t that enough to peak your interest? The book title, the cover and the blurb all sparked my interest. From the blurb I thought perhaps the book had paranormal elements to it but once I saw that Casey Schillinge had visions in her nightmare and during the hypnosis is how she was able to see her donor’s last few moment alive.

The opening chapter was written with such care and detail that I couldn’t help but feel for the family in their time of distress. From chapter two until about 100 pages into the book it fell flat for me. It was a chore to make myself continue reading. I stuck with it and my hopes for the book to pick up and get better were not in vain. Once the book grabbed my interest again it didn’t take long for me to finish the book.

I really enjoyed the book and I am so glad that I didn’t give up on it. This is a book that has a very interesting plot with an original idea that started my imagination going. This wasn’t a predictable read and I was in suspense until the author revealed the finale.

For some reason in the back of my mind I kept wondering why it took Casey three years after receiving the donor heart to have these intense nightmares? Why did she choose to not seek help and opted to suffer alone? The Casey that was first introduced appeared too distant and isolated. For her to be so young she didn’t have any friends from school or her childhood to socialize with that kept in touch after her ordeal. But I guess the isolation was part of the preferences from the donor. I was happy to see by the end of the book she was a much stronger sociable and likable person. I enjoyed her determination once she had her mind set to resolve what happened to her donor. Her confusion and drive picked up the pace and gave the book life. I felt it odd that her and her mother did not get along and her dad seemed to be in between the two.

The writing is smooth with few edit oversights. The plot is excellent, even though it took a little long to get there. The characters were okay. I didn’t get any type of good or bad connection where as the story came to an end they would remain on my mind. However, I did wonder if the idea about the immigrants and what they were faced with could really have happened.

This would be a suggested recommendation for those that enjoy a ‘heart’ pounding tale filled with plenty of suspense and surprises.

Tariah sacrificed herself to the Psy Warriors, to save her younger sister and family. Instead of death she gets an unexpected reprieve in the form of two bonded mates. Who would have thought a debt would lead her to the one thing she wants most?

I liked the story as a whole. It was a short one but the author kept me interested and reading to the end. Tariah is the eldest in the family. She always had responsibility on her shoulders. And would have never thought the time with the warriors would be anything good. And the warriors were good. The passion and chemistry they had with Tariah was scorching. Though, I do not think lust was the only thing between them. I would have loved to have seen their relationship blossom.

There wasn’t much of a backstory in the book but I did not mind it all until the end. The ending felt like a cliffhanger. Personally, I’m not fond of cliffhangers and waiting for the next part of the book. With this being a series, I hope to see the ending resolved in the next book and possible spend more time with Tariah, Zerion and Arwyn.

The book has some mild BDSM elements but nothing I didn’t expect with the word “alpha” in the title. Readers who enjoy a good vampire style paranormal should give this one a try.

This is the first book by Raven McAllan I’ve ever read and I’m glad I remedied that. Her writing is interesting and kept my attention. The characters are rich and defined. I felt like I was in Scotland with the pair.

Cat and Angus are unique characters. I’ve read time travel books and liked them. This book was no different. I really felt transported. Now there were a few times I had to go back and reread to make sure I understood what was happening, but it wasn’t a problem. I could see Angus in my mind and it was so worth the time. I liked her apprehension and how she reacted to Angus. She had me in stitches. The romance swelters and the characters are great.

A hacker is targeting Meredith Crismis’s struggling new dessert company. But when the tech firm she depends on sends hunky computer expert Vlad Wiznitsky to fix the problem, things begin improving for Meredith, both personally and professionally.

It seems like a dream come true, until the persistent hacker turns her “Divine Desserts” website into an X-rated marketplace, the wealthy customer demands a discontinued decorative item or else no sale, and her relationship with Vlad begins to unravel under the pressure of her obsession with professional success.

For a woman who deals with creating intricate wedding cakes and luscious muffins, life has suddenly become the ultimate recipe for disaster.

Meredith had worked hard to open her own little shop – Divine Desserts. She loves everything about baking and adores her business – but has serious computer-related problems. After calling her regular tech support they send someone out to help her. But instead of her usual middle-aged technician Vladimir appears on her doorstep. Vlad’s determined to help her – Meredith’s computer has been hacked three times recently and she’s worried it might lose her business. Can they work together to solve this puzzle?

I really enjoyed the slower pace of romance between Vlad and Meredith. While the chemistry and attraction is instant, neither jump straight into the hot stuff. That slow, gradual progression was wonderful to read and made the end-point all the more sweet to my mind. While sex between Vlad and Meredith was alluded to, nothing was shown in detail. There were some lovely kisses and plenty of chemistry, but the bedroom door remained firmly closed. Readers who enjoy a sweeter style of romance should find this quite appealing, but there was still enough chemistry to my mind that the story shouldn’t be overlooked by readers who enjoy a bit more spice in their books.

There were plenty of interesting secondary characters that I felt really supported the story and made it interesting. My only small disappointment was that the conflict felt a little put-on. In most respects Meredith came across as a sensible, level-headed woman. Yet when she got all twisted up over a really big order it felt a little like she lost some of that intelligence. I can totally understand getting caught up in something so important, and obsessing over it, but it felt a little out of character – almost as if the author had blown it slightly out of proportion to instigate the argument between Vlad and Meredith. The argument had a good purpose, and was well-written, but the basis for it seemed a bit strange to me. I even ended up back-tracking and rereading much of the lead-up to be sure I hadn’t missed something, and this really drew me out of the story.

That said, overall I really did enjoy reading about Meredith’s computer woes, her difficulty in juggling her various clients and starting up her new business. The characters were interesting and fun and I found this to be a sweet, mostly happy story that made it a quick, good read.

“Me and mommy named her. Her real name is Pincess Finona Fuzzy-buttness”

This book covers a full spectrum of emotions. Meaning that it was both sweet as well as sexy and then there are some violent elements to it.

Because of the title, I initially thought that this was going to be about voodoo and witch magic and all. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This book is not about magic though there was a little bit of a fantasy element to it at the end. This book is about second chances, love, friends and family.

I have always loved reading about books with children in it. Their Cajun Queen introduced a sweet and innocent little girl that I absolutely loved reading about. I think Emma Grace brought a certain element of fun into the mix that only children can bring. She added to the story rather than simply being a convenient secondary character.

Fiona is a very strong woman, made stronger because of her daughter. She would have given up when her husband died if not for her daughter. Fiona’s past shaped her present as it made her aware of the cruel side of humans early on. Declan and Cade have their work cut out for them in winning her trust and her love but they are exactly what she and her daughter need; what they had been missing in their lives. Trust, security and love.

The author did a wonderful job with the characters and the overall story. There was some violence in it that might be difficult to read but I would recommend readers simply keep a handful of tissues nearby, take a deep breath and read on because there is so much more to this story. There was also a lot of fun and sexy and sweet moments in it that I loved. This had a good balance of both heart wrenching and heart warming. This one is for readers who want a lot of layers to their romance. A fantastic read overall.

With a little help from her best friend, Bianca, affectionately known as Charlie, gets the opportunity to show off her new self. Cole never knew what hit him!

Cole is an FBI agent. What he does not expect was to meet the beautiful Bianca and fall in love with her. He’s a seriously sexy character but it isn’t just his outer hotness, he’s truly a nice guy and the way he treats Bianca is truly heart felt romantic.

I was pleased to see that this wasn’t an instant love even though the book isn’t lengthy. Yes, she had a crush on him years ago and maybe it still colored her adult life but, the author showed the slow build kind of love. I saw them get to know each other and find out more about their lives. To develop the relationship. It didn’t hurt at all that they a passionate chemistry.

I loved reading this book as it gave me more than I expected. I expected the wallflower Bianca to meet Cole years later fall in love and live happily ever after. However, I got more, this is a plot that I see every now and then but the author included a lot of content in it that surprised me and had me fully involved to the very end. That’s a good book!

Don’t say it with words. Say it with candy.

Raymond was such a likable guy. I appreciated the fact that the plot spent as much time as it did showing how he spent his time when he wasn’t falling for a woman he’d just met. Seeing him dote on his nieces and nephews and struggle with his stutter only made me like him more than I already did. He felt like a real person to me because of how well I got to know him.

The fantasy elements of this story were faint. While I wouldn’t expect a romance to necessarily go into as much detail about how the magic in that universe works as I would from something that was purely fantasy, it would have been helpful to have more clues about Raymond’s abilities and how they worked. Mentioning them without explaining any of the rules about what magic can be used for made certain scenes confusing for me because I never knew what Raymond was and was not capable of. Had it all been clearer, I would have chosen a higher rating as I really liked the plot overall.

The chemistry between Raymond and Millie couldn’t have been better. Their personalities complemented each other beautifully. What was even better than that was how effortlessly they brought out the best parts of each other when they spent time together. Seeing them get along so nicely made me hope they’d have a happy ending.

Marry Me is a good choice for anyone who is in the mood for an old-fashioned romance with a hint of fantasy.

Rachel Harris had been abandoned as a baby on the steps of a church-run children’s home in England, then later adopted. Who was her birth mother and what were the circumstances which led her to give up her baby?

Searching for someone who doesn’t want to be found seems a hopeless task, until Rachel meets Matthew Williams, a Church of England clergyman.

Then anonymous and increasingly frightening attempts begin and threaten to end their relationship. Are these actions connected to the mysterious events surrounding Rachel’s abandonment?

The verb having ED in the end highlights that something cialis 10 mg occurred in the past is the past, it is over, and residing in it does not serve anyone well. The Image of Her was a decent mystery that kept me turning pages.

Rachel’s grandmosther passed away, and Rachel has inherited her grandmother’s place and lost her job. Between the odd noises she hears in the house and being a bit broke, as well as looking for a tenant, things are a little off for her. Enter Matthew Williams, sent to check out the weird noises but also in need of a place to stay.

I liked both Rachel and Matthew. They are decent folk just trying to get through life. Both have had some setbacks and are getting back on their feet. It was nice to see it happen together and for their romance to develop slowly and sweetly.

I have to admit that the book left me breathless frequently, right from the get go. There is much higher amount of dialogue versus narration that is used to move the story along and that was part of it. Also there’s a lot of story (and several sub-plots) contained between the pages so there’s a lot to take in. It was okay, just occasionally a bit confusing and exhausting and the reason this book didn’t rate higher.

I love the author’s light and fun tone of voice. The first chapter was an absolute joy to read and hooked me into the rest, not necessarily because of the story, but because of the two main characters. So fun!

There is a remarkable amount of British slang and words I was unfamiliar with as an American. It did pop me out of the story quite a lot, but it’s a British setting and I wouldn’t have expected otherwise.

All in all, though The Image of Her was a satisfying read. More just story and mystery than romance, it still made my heart very happy. It’s unusual today to find a book that isn’t all about the sex. This isn’t, and I think it really helped the relationship to grow more deeply and believably. I don’t doubt that Rachel and Matthew will live happily every after.

The dialogue was well written. I especially appreciated the lighthearted moments that sometimes showed up in it. Not only did the things the characters said fit their personalities perfectly, they were also a nice break from the darker and occasionally sadder scenes. These shifts between joking and talking about serious things were exactly what I was expecting from such complicated and interesting characters.

This story had a slow beginning. I had some trouble staying interested for the first third of it because of how little was going on with the plot. The blurb didn’t share many hints about what the main conflict was going to be about or why the main characters found it so divisive, so I was curious to discover that information for myself. While I liked getting to know them so well, I would have preferred to see Eli and Jay deal with more conflicts early on as I was figuring out their personalities and habits. There was definitely room for it. Had the first thirty pages included more conflict, I would have chosen a much higher rating for this book as I did enjoy it quite a bit overall.

With that being said, I really got into the storyline once the pacing sped up. Jay and Eli’s budding relationship was handled beautifully. The chemistry between them felt so real. I also liked the fact that I was able to learn so much about them and their lives before anything remotely romantic happened. This made me eager to see if they would end up together because I’d grown to care about both of these guys so much.

I’d recommend The Life & Death of Eli & Jay to anyone who is in the mood for a sweet and leisurely romance.

It’s a stupid idea, and even if magic was real there’s no way a true love summoning spell would work for him.

It was supposed to be a silly spell and nothing more than that.

The world building in this story was so complex that I actually briefly wondered if I’d accidentally stumbled into the middle of a series. While this didn’t turn out to be the case after all, I was still impressed with how many details about this universe Ms. Miller packed into the plot. She had thoughtful explanations for everything from how magic works to what happens when someone accidentally breaks the rules that usually govern how and when magic is used.

I would have liked to see more attention paid to the romantic elements of this book. The characters involved in it were both wonderful people, but the chemistry between them never quite felt right to me. It often seemed as though they were developing a friendship instead of falling in love. Friendship is definitely an important part of romantic relationships, but it would have been helpful to have some strong examples of them being attracted to each other so that this part of the storyline could have flowed more easily.

Cy was such an interesting guy. I enjoyed seeing how he changed after his sad and somewhat self-deprecating introduction. His evolution fit his personality perfectly. While he changed a lot from the first scene to the last one, the most important parts of his identity like his intelligence and his curiosity remained the same.

How Not to Summon Your True Love should be read by anyone who is in the mood for an urban fantasy tale that comes with a side of romance.
