SEVEN DAYS TO GO FROM LETHAL IMMORTAL ASSASSIN TO PRINCE CHARMING. DOES HE STAND A CHANCE?

Demigod Andrus Gray may look like every woman’s dream, but when it comes to charm, he sees no point in pretending: He has none and makes no apologies for it. Behaving nicely hasn’t made him the deadly assassin he is today. But is that really the reason he’s still single?

The Goddess Cimil—owner of Immortal Matchmakers, Inc.—thinks yes. So when she foresees a mate in Andrus’s near future, she’s determined to make the match happen. That means hiring aspiring actress Sadie Townsend to help the barbarian “act” a little more civilized.

Equally the Worldwide Chiropractors Association (ICA) and also the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) have declared May generic levitra online amerikabulteni.com perhaps to become an official month for very good posture. But are seven days really enough? And why does he suddenly have the urge to throw away an eternity of love for just one night with Sadie?

This is a quirky, fun and bizarre romance story and that means it’s quite entertaining. The delivery starts off with Cimil sort of setting up the scenario of the company, its goals and the players. Each person, like Zac, is over the top, loud and larger than life. There’s not a boring character in the bunch.

Andrus and Sadie are quite the couple. He’s a horndog and she’s a hardworking struggling girl who wants to make it in Hollywood. The two are thrown together in what has to be the most convoluted and peculiar matchmaking scheme ever.

Andrus is not shy with his body (he’s not afraid of a little exhibitionism) or his language. He’s rough, rude and as hot as fresh lava. Sadie has these internal dialogue monologues and quips that are quite amusing especially when she’s trying to not notice Andrus’s fine physical qualities even though she very clearly notices, a lot. And, Andrus notices her noticing. The primal dance between them is quite witty and sexy.

The funniest part was Sadie telling Andrus what she liked in the bedroom department, in detail, and the hero’s very choked response. I was greatly amused.

The conflict is a bit elaborate and manipulative. I could never figure out what the threat was, or if the deadline was as critical as depicted, or if Cimil was playing head games because let’s face it, she’s like a demented Energizer Bunny who majored in Machiavellianism. I had a love/hate opinion about Cimil – at times I was annoyed with her and the way her character was written, and other times, the conflict she imparted was genius. Readers have to decide for themselves which side of the fence Cimil falls on for them.

The biggest surprise was Sadie. I never even suspected the role she played in the novel. What was finally revealed made it even more apparent that Andrus was the most perfect choice for her as a mate. I strongly suspect other readers will agree.

All in all, the first book in The Immortal Matchmakers, Inc. series is a fun launching pad for romantic hijinks in the future. The characters are creative, unique and provide a fresh batch of zany romantic entanglements for readers to enjoy. The next book will be about Tommaso and from the sounds of it, his romantic journey is going to be as madcap as this one.

Unfortunately, some of the things Iliona does to help the people could get her in serious trouble if brought to the attention of the authorities. Lysander has been watching Iliona closely for a long time, and uses his knowledge to trap Iliona into spying for him.

Lysander is a complicated individual. I disliked him immediately, but as the story progressed, Ms. Todd revealed some things about his history that made me rethink my original assessment. While I certainly don’t condone all his actions, I will admit that there is much more to Lysander than I thought. Iliona and Lysander spend most of their time fighting rather than working together. They barely manage to be civil to each other. Once the traitor has been dealt with, Iliona has no desire to ever see Lysander again. Unfortunately, Lysander knows too many of Iliona’s secrets, and he has no intention of letting her off the hook any time soon. I wonder what Ms. Todd has in store for this pair in the next book?

The viewpoint changes a lot over the course of this story. While seeing events unfold through different characters was interesting sometimes, it was also distracting at others. I could never be sure how important some of the things I was reading were. Also, since there are so many switches, I don’t feel as if I got to know Iliona as well as I would have liked. I think switching between two or possibly three viewpoints would have kept things interesting and would have fostered deeper character development.

There are several mysteries to solve in this tale, and most of them have satisfying conclusions. However, one of them ends up being completely dismissed without any serious investigation. I was a little bothered by that. I also felt that the plan to expose the traitor was overly complex. There seemed to be easier ways of discovering who the traitor was, but by the end of the story, I better understood why that particular path was chosen. I will say that Ms. Todd did an excellent job of keeping the identity of the traitor hidden. Iliona is certain for a long time that she knows who the culprit is. As I read, I was inclined to agree with her even though there were a few things that concerned me. However, I was truly surprised when the traitor’s identity was revealed.

Overall, I enjoyed reading Blind Eye. Iliona and Lysander are interesting characters, and I look forward to learning more about them. I’ll be picking up the next book in the series very soon.

Spies and Lovers, Book 2

Minerva Bellingham is at her wits’ end. Her younger brother, Simon, will have them penniless and on the streets if his extravagant gambling habit isn’t curtailed. An enormous debt to Lord Rafe Drummond is the final indignity.

Signing over her dowry is their only choice. Until Lord Drummond suggests something much more scandalous. She can keep her dowry—in exchange for the Bellinghams working three months as a housemaid and stable boy.

However, I can tell you that it viagra store is close to the junction, stop immediately, giving a “red light”.
Scarred from his service to the Crown, Rafe recognizes the young Simon Bellingham has the makings of a good duke. Minerva is a different story. Her pure, delicate beauty only underscores Rafe’s tarnished, bleak soul.

Yet he delights in cracking Minerva’s icy reserve to reveal a fiery, stubborn woman. And Minerva discovers the gruff master of Wintermarsh has the heart of a poet. But before they can find a future safe in each other’s arms, a menace from Simon’s licentious past slithers back into their lives, forcing Rafe to plan the most important rescue mission of his life.

Warning: Contains a paragon of the beau monde who gets the hang of polishing silver, and a master of the house who’d like her to make his bed—preferably with him in it. Also passion unleashed with the mere touch of a finger. Readers are encouraged to swoon.

“Had she made a bargain with the devil?” Quite possibly but, if the tension and chemistry that sizzled between Rafe and Minerva was any indication, extracting payment was going to be a pleasure for them both.

Book 2 of the Spies and Lovers series begins with some excitement. I haven’t read the first book but it looks like I’m missing out on a terrific story if I don’t remedy that soon. Book 2 is a stand alone so it isn’t that I feel that I need to have read the first to better enjoy the second, it’s just that the second was so much fun why wouldn’t I want to go back for more?

Rafe and Minerva apparently butted heads in An Indecent Invitation. I guess readers who want to see “how they met” might want to read that one first but I was able to pick up enough details to understand that there was some built in tension. Plus, Minerva calls Rafe an arse more than once. Respectable ladies of the Ton aren’t supposed to speak that way so, it really made me laugh. I could tell Rafe made his suggestion on how the Bellingham siblings could work to repay their debt as much to help young Simon as it was to poke at Minerva.

Speaking of Simon, bless him, he really needed a firm hand and no matter how much his sister loved him and berated him at the same time, she wasn’t going to be able to fix him. I really had to admire Rafe for heart and determination to see the young Duke fulfill his potential. I can’t be sure but I think I met his future Duchess and she’s going to be fiesty!

Maxwell Drake also looks like a likely candidate for a future installment of Spies and Lovers. He has the background similar to both Gray (from Book 1) and Rafe. Plus, he has the dark and broody presence down to an art. Total hero material! I’m very curious about the letter Minerva received from him while traveling in Scotland. He may have his hands full!

This was a really enjoyable book a good introduction to the series even though it isn’t the first in the series. After meeting Lily and Gray, I can tell I need rectify having not read their book, yet. Readers who love a good spicy historical set in the Regency Era should most definitely give this one a try.

The Severn family—Jeff and his wife Phyllis, Lynette and her new fiancé, and single Andy—has gathered at the mountain home of their grandmother, Mary Agnes Severn, to celebrate Thanksgiving and hear an announcement regarding their late grandfather’s will. With news of an escaped convict in the hills, everyone is barely settled in before a huge snowstorm strands them in the large old house with only gas lamps and lanterns to keep the darkness away.

Local sheriff Roger Dickerson arrives to check on the family and seek shelter from the storm. Sparks fly between him and Andy as long-held passions bubble just under the surface, but before they can address them, Mary Agnes’s three servants are murdered one by one. Who is the murderer? Is it the escaped convict? Is it someone in the house? Everyone has a motive, and everyone has the means. What’s going on between Andy and Marcus the handyman? What’s going on between Phyllis and Marcus? Is there something going on between Roger and Marcus? It’s (snow)bound to be a wild week of murder, mystery, and mayhem!

Ten people + one huge mansion up in the mountains + one blizzard + an escaped killer on the loose = classic murder mystery with plot twists and red herrings.

I admit, I was both pleasantly and unpleasantly surprised by this story. This has an old-fashioned feel to it à la Agatha Christie, and she’s even mentioned once. Basically, we’re not given the POV of any of characters in the story. Everything we learn from them we must deduce from their expressions, speech, and reactions. That seemed like a perfectly valid way of approaching a murder mystery.

The book’s written well. However, for the longest time, judging from the way people talked, I assumed this was an historical tale. Not until we get cell phones and modern day idioms that we realize this is a contemporary story after all. For a classic tale of who-dunit, that was both interesting and confusing. I like traditional murder mysteries, so the antiquated feel worked for me. The modern references worked at times, less in others, clashing with the classic feel. Nonetheless, this book had an appeal that made me read this in one sitting. The humor throughout, for example, seemed to fit with the narrative rather nicely. Except (and this seems to be the norm for this tale) for when it didn’t, such as joking about too much garlic in their food when there are two dead bodies chilling in the wine cellar. Inappropriate!

The cast is composed of family members, servants, and a sheriff. The two people providing the gay romance aspect are Andy Severn, one of said grandchildren, and Roger Dickerson, the sheriff. But, and I can’t emphasize this enough, this is most definitely NOT a romance. The two men aren’t often alone, and when they are, they talk loads and then gloss over every sensual scene. Obviously since no one’s inner thoughts are heard here it probably would have made those sex scenes awkward and impersonal, so I get why they were left out. But those of you who are expecting a classic murder mystery with some male heroes getting hot and heavy, look elsewhere.

As for the other characters, well, there’s the usual: The engaged couple who don’t know each other well yet, the married couple with straying eyes, the single gay guy with his bromance with his cousin and his other could-be romance with the sheriff, the eccentric matriarch of the family, two identical servant sisters, a flirtatious handyman, and so on. Their personalities came through loud and clear even though we don’t hear their innermost thoughts. They seemed such archetypal charaters that I was immediately drawn into the complex tale.

One big negative, however, is the family matriarch, Mary Agnes, with her quirky ways. At first, she was charming in that quaint way of hers, and I liked her. Then she smashed someone’s cell phone to pieces because she doesn’t approve of cell phones. What? Yeah, no. I don’t care who you are or how charmingly eccentric you are, you don’t destroy other people’s property for any reason. There went all my positive associations with her, and I wanted her to be one of the murder victims. Unfortunately, she wasn’t.

The other puzzling thing was Roger, the sheriff. He wasn’t a very good sheriff, considering three people get murdered on his watch, not to mention getting shot at, getting rooms broken into, etc. It might have been better to make him, say, a private investigator. That at least would have taken the pressure off from his sub-par performance as an officer of the law. Still, when he does take charge, he does so with authority. And if the deck wasn’t so stacked against him from the start, his strategies might even have paid off better.

Now, there are maps and floorplans at the back of the book. I strongly suggest you utilize them to figure out who was where when and doing what. Basic who-dunit puzzle solving. I was glad they were there because often I had trouble visualizing just what was happening. That was by no fault of the author and his writing capabilities, as he does a lot of descriptions, but purely my own forgetfulness.

Since there are so many people in the story and since we can’t hear their thoughts, it’s important to follow what people are saying. No, they don’t always tell the truth, but will their expressions betray them? I had fun trying to figure things out. As a classic-style murder mystery, this delivered rather well. I certainly enjoyed reading this.

Not to spoil the ending, I still have to say that I was quite confused with who did what to whom when. There are a lot of revelations toward the end, and I had some trouble following those conclusions to the end. Plus, if you expect the two gay heroes to solve the murders, you’re out of luck. They have virtually no role here other than as a two men who happen to be gay and who might be attracted to each other. I really wanted a gay guy to solve the crime. But… no, unfortunately we don’t get that.

So, overall this was an interesting change from the typical crime stories of today. The classic feel, the two-dimensional characters, the mystery solved solely through hints in words and actions, all that was promising. In some ways this delivered, in others it failed. I suppose the biggest question is, would I read this again? Very possibly, if just to see if I understood what was happening. Would I recommend this to lovers of M/M and murder mysteries? Yes, with the caveat that you should like the latter more because you won’t be getting much romance at all. Since the beginning, when no one’s POVs are given, I knew to expect less romance, so in that respect I got what I expected and wasn’t too disappointed. Would I read this author again? Sure. If writers take their craft seriously, they can only get better.

But when she finds out he’s requested a transfer to the Holiday Security Agency, Allison decides to prove she cares for him…even if it means breaking a few rules.

There are many times when you really should follow the rules in life, but falling in love might not be one of them.

Preston was a well-rounded and fascinating character. There were times when his stubborn antics made me shake my head, but even his biggest flaws were there for a reason. It was fun to see how he grew and changed as a result of the things that happened to him during the course of the plot. He stayed true to his original personality while also surprising me with how intelligently he responded to everything that challenged him.

The chemistry between Allison and Preston never felt quite right to me. I liked them both quite a bit as individuals, but their personalities clashed in so many different ways that it was hard to imagine them as a couple. She was straight-laced while he was impulsive, for example. There were times when I wondered why they were ever seriously interested in each other because of how deeply set into their ways they were. The fact that it didn’t work out between them the first time around only made me think about this even more.

This was one of the most original fantasy stories I’ve read recently. Ms. Miller spent a lot of time showing the audience exactly how the Romance and Proposal Department operated. I felt like I knew the entire department inside and out by the time she’d finished describing what it looked like, how its employees were expected to behave, and what happened when people broke the rules. It was nice to have such a clear understanding of it all, especially once Preston’s job was on the line because I knew exactly what he was risking.

I’d recommend www.Cupid to anyone who is in the mood for a creative Valentine’s Day tale.

Diego isn’t too impressed when the restaurant’s owner insists his nephew be the new pastry chef. Despite his near-constant sour mood, Diego just can’t manage to really be mad with Ben. Ben is determined to make his own way and enjoys all aspects of working as a pastry chef. Can the two men manage to work together?

This is a really interesting, food-centric story. While the main relationship revolves around Diego and Ben and the beginning of their relationship, it’s also a strong story about the restaurant and how the various chefs all work well together. I liked how even though Diego and Ben can’t quite work out how to get together for most of it, there’s always a positivity in their interactions. Diego feels he’s too much older than Ben, and is still quite hung up on his ex. And Ben is too unsure of Diego and their hot/cold interactions. Indeed, it’s not until right at the end of the story that Ben and Diego manage to find their way together.

In the background there was plenty of sub-plot around the other members of staff and the restaurant itself. This helped the story feel lighthearted to me – and not just a dramatic, emotional story of two men trying to find their way together. Still, it was both odd and interesting that this is definitely a M/M story where the two men don’t start their romantic relationship until pretty much the end of the story. I felt Diego’s epiphany about his ex wasn’t explained as thoroughly as I’d have liked considering how much of the book he was hung up on the man. This realization felt very sudden and wasn’t given as much detail as I thought it should have. This was a critical conclusion for Diego – and an important part in his and Ben’s coming together – and I needed to stop, go back and reread a chunk of the book, feeling like I’d missed something. That jolted me out of the story quite a bit. But the end-product – Diego and Ben coming together – was lovely to read and a real high point.

An emotional, well paced and really fun story that overall I enjoyed. With only one steamy sex scene and a few delicious kisses this story is sexy and steamy – but isn’t extreme or over the top. A lovely M/M I really enjoyed.

Promised at the Moon is a new adult romance and one thing that I first noticed was that the story and the characters came first and the erotic bits came later, meaning that the sex was secondary in this book rather than the focus. This was unique for me to find in the paranormal genre but in this book it worked well. Not saying that it’s bad reading erotic paranormal books, but every now and then I want to read a full on paranormal with romance but where the sex doesn’t overtake the book.

The romance was there from the beginning, their chemistry and passion was palpable from the moment Liam and Natasha met. Their attraction was instant. While Liam needs to protect Natasha, this was more than a job. I enjoyed the build up a relationship based not only on attraction but trust as well.

Both of the characters got to know each other and their past and present. It was refreshing in a short story.

The climax of the book was hot, sexy and action filled. The timing was perfect for them to give into their chemistry. I loved it.

This is the first book in the series and I have to believe that the second book will be just as amazing. Paranormal romance readers who’ve never experienced the new adult romance style of story telling should give this one a try.

This was a first for me, I’ve heard about people who are this clumsy, but never really met them. This book brought me into the mind and life of a clumsy married woman.

Clumsy Girl’s Guide to Having a Baby does not start at or before the wedding. It starts five years into the marriage. This was a simple love story, but a love story that does a fantastic job of depicting married life. As the much anticipated follow up to Clumsy Girl’s Guide to Falling in Love, it was a neat way to see what happens when the honeymoon is over.

I loved reading about Zoe’s clumsy “accidents”. They were hilarious to the point of being almost unbelievable.

It was so easy to visualize this young woman who trips over blades of grass or air. A young woman who gets into a lot of clumsy accidents and then she gets pregnant. Gets big and can’t see her feet. If for nothing else this book should be read for the hilarity of it all.

That being said, Zoe’s clumsiness is not the only story here and that is a good thing. The book has some serious parts which made it all the more real because a marriage is sometimes serious. Couples don’t always communicate well and sometimes they disagree. It’s real life. The romance is hot but the bedroom door is firmly closed.

A clever story told mostly from Zoe’s POV but with insight into Curt’s take on it all. A very entertaining read.

I’ve read this book three times and I can’t believe it’s only now I’m writing a review. Amanda Quick’s stories are my go-to books when I need something I know will take me away from the stress of everyday life. I Thee Wed has an element of re-readability that I enjoy.

Ms. Quick’s stories sometimes have a formulaic feel to them that I find comforting. This novel isn’t boring or predictable except for the fact that the heroine is usually intriguing and unique, the hero is fascinated by her mind and personality and there’s always a villain that is clever and hard to catch. Trying to outsmart a criminal is a tough business, but add in an element of possible paranormal influence and it becomes engaging. Is the paranormal real or fake, is the Book of Secrets quackery or the genuine stuff of legends? Does Emma truly have an otherworldly talent or is it coincidence? Who killed the creepy letch? Who focused the young criminal’s attention on Edison? Will Edison be forced to kill him? Why is the tattoo so important? And what really happened to Ms. Kent? So many exciting questions need to be answered and Ms. Quick insures that a reader’s interest is kept engaged chapter after chapter.

My favorite part of this novel is Emma’s ability to challenge Edison. Not only about how competent a female can be in investigating a crime, but her clear-eyed empathy about the situation between the hero and his grandmother makes him doubt all that he assumed. She inspires Edison to see things differently, to question and to grow as a person. His falling in love with her makes him a better man in the end so it makes the happy ever after that much more powerful.

The sensual, sexy scenes are softly told – the descriptions are not graphic or glaring, but a reader has an open door view and can enjoy the moments when Edison and Emma succumb to their passions.

I Thee Wed is a guaranteed entertaining read. I enjoy the dialogue, the action, the suspense, the solving of the murders and Emma and Edison’s unusual courtship. There is a reason that this book is, and has been, on my keeper shelf. Ms. Quick knows how to write a romance story that gives fans of the genre exactly what they look for. I’m a satisfied, happy reader – again.
