A prominent art restorer, Felicity is more than game to help a friend track down an obscure statue in Montreal. But when “Fil” finds it, she’s taken by surprise at how drawn she is to this statue. Attracted to it in a way a girl shouldn’t lust for a stone gargoyle, she revists it at night, longing to feel its embrace. Little does Fil know, her desire for this stone cold beast is about to heat up a notch.

Locked in stone for centuries, Spar has slept, waiting for when a human would need him. When he is awoken, Spar is taken aback to find that a human female needs his help. A very sexy woman who’s about to be the victim of a cultist attack. Saving and leaving her should be no problem. But as more questions arise, Spar knows that he cannot rest until Fil is safe in his arms

Shiver me timbers! This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first zap from the bad guy all the way until the very dramatic conclusion. Every time a new chapter started a new revelation or crisis hit the hero and heroine and kept them scrambling to make sense of the chaos that was unfolding around them. How they had time to fall in love in the midst of it is a credit to the author because it was a definite highlight and made it all worth it.
Porn addicts could not stop themselves from watching porn and do regular masturbation, which is affecting their buy cheap levitra sexual health and causing sexual problems. Felicity, or as she prefers to call herself, Fil, is a heroine who does a pretty good job of rolling with the punches. She has a typical modern independent streak that drives the hero, Spar, a bit nuts. She’s got a wicked sense of humor and Ms. Warren also gave her heroine some very clever internal dialogue that made me smile many times throughout the tale. Yes, Fil does some stupid things, but then the story goes on to show why she did or said what she did and it basically makes sense and keeps everything in character. There was one part where I knew something bad was going to happen because it was a typical storytelling tactic yet the author used it as a dramatic segue into the next climactic part of the book. Sometimes Fil’s rash behavior worked out, and sometimes it didn’t. The heroine isn’t a passive female character, that’s for sure.

I enjoyed getting to know Spar. Of course he’s sexy, eventually. He’s a typical male in spite of his magical uniqueness. I adored his protectiveness and liked how the author had him navigate his experience of feeling emotions for the first time. In some scenes he was so discombobulated that he made mistakes, and that made his character endearing, interesting and more relatable.

There was of course the external conflict and the bad guys are nasty. What they do to people is heinous and one character really got hurt bad to the point it almost reminded me of a scene in The Mummy, and I remember being freaked the first time I saw it. So that will give a reader an idea as to how villainous and evil the antagonists are.

This is totally a standalone read but Kees and Ella appear from the previous book to help out when the suspense, drama and action reach a critical flashpoint. I knew from the previous book how Fil was prompted to get messed up in this conflict in the first place but the author touched on the basics enough that a reader won’t feel out of the loop by starting with this book. However, since the first book Heart of Stone sets up the world building and Kees was such a big sexy hunk anyway, his story is one not to be missed just on that fact alone.

There is a secondary character that not only is helpful in this novel but as it turns out, she’s the perfect hook for the next story. Just as Ella finagled a way to get Fil involved, it sounds like Wynn is next. The interesting twist for Wynn is that she’s not completely ignorant of the power shift that’s going on and I find that fascinating. Ms. Warren picked the perfect scenario to guarantee my eager anticipation for the next book in the series. It’s so exciting!

Stone Cold Lover is an intense, wild ride that should not be missed. This novel should appeal to paranormal romance fans, suspense fans and definitely fans of Ms. Warren. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with the quality of writing, the intensity of the story or the sheer yummy hotness of the romance between Spar and Fil that culminates in a satisfactory HEA. I love the idea of gargoyles being heroes because they embody strength and focus of purpose. They scare the bad guys but they sure know how to love their mates. I’m so happy I discovered this series. Not only is it filled with drama and adventure, it’s been one of the most fun, fascinating and entertaining new series I’ve been privileged to find in a long time and I couldn’t be happier. Stone Cold Lover rocks!

But, more important, he’s the man who loves Maggie for her true self.

The two bad guys Black Tex and Richard DeForest are as different as daylight and dark socially. Yet, each of them is willing to use Maggie to get what they want without any true regard for her. If the reader needs someone to dump negative feelings on, these two are ideal candidates.

The sides stories one of Ben’s widowed sister-in-law and Frank Stansel, the sheriff of Easton, plus the other of Maggie’s brother Marcus enrich an all ready delightfully good western romance. I’d enjoy a romance with Marcus as the hero. I liked him.

The Ben and Maggie love story that wiggles and weaves its way determinedly among the happenings keeps one turning pages. Written in the Cards is Attention-Keeping reading!

Heartbroken over the premature death of her young sister, Estelle conceives a dark plan to recover Lunette’s innocent soul from the thief she witnessed taking it. The price is higher than she anticipated, reaching far beyond the loss of her own innocence when she enters voluntarily into the realm of the Lord of Shadows, into a theater of madness constructed by the souls of the dead.

Few things in this world are stronger than the bond between siblings. What Estelle doesn’t know, though, is if that bond will give her enough strength to keep searching for her lost sister.

The horror elements took a little while to show up, but they were quite noticeable when they did. It was interesting to see how this author sampled the often gruesome origins of traditional fairy tales in order to make her story come alive. Masque of Shadows is truly intended for a mature audience. Given the dark subject matter, this was a great decision.

Once or twice I wondered why Estelle accepted all of the strange things she encountered so easily. This is a minor criticism of an otherwise mesmerizing book, but it would have been helpful to know a little bit more about her previous life in order to better understand why she was so eager to jump into a dangerous, new realm without any qualms about her own safety.

The villain in this piece was perfectly dastardly. I was especially creeped out by the physical description of him. It was a little unusual for this genre. In retrospect, it worked incredibly well given everything else the reader learns about him and his plans for Estelle.

Ms. Miles has a hypnotic writing style that made it impossible for me to tear my eyes away from the page. She described each scene in such precise detail that I felt as though I were watching a movie instead of reading a short story. This was my first introduction to her work. If it’s any indication of her talent, I don’t know how I’ll be able to remain patient while waiting for her next book comes out.

Masque of Shadow is a must-read for anyone who loves fairy tales. Just don’t be surprised if you follow in my footsteps and read it more than once!

The Greek gods are alive and well. But, unfortunately for the gods, the humans have all but forgotten their glorious existence…and this fact really pisses off the all-powerful, immortal beings.

Apollo, the Greek god of the sun, takes one look at the mysterious Terese Lafitte and knows that he wants her. Even in this modern century, a god takes what he wants. But Terese isn’t a mortal, not any longer. As a newly turned vampire, her attraction to Apollo is downright lethal because desire arouses not just her body, but also her bloodlust.

When Terese’s psychotic vampire ex begins to stalk them, Apollo knows that he will have to use all of his strength to keep her safe. Lucky for Terese, Apollo has more power than she could ever have imagined.

When you trifle with the sun god, you will get burned.

Sun god looks to take a mate, vampires need not apply. Unless you happen to be really smoking hot and give good chase.

Loved it! Both of my favorites wrapped up in one hot cute sexy love story. When you mix a Greek god and a vampire that just has to lead to some hot times. Most ironic though is that Apollo is the Sun God and the female he happens to want to claim is a vampire.

I adore alpha men and Apollo has all that in spades. He’s bossy, arrogant and protects what he claims as his. He’s just bumping around looking for a good time and bored out of his mind. In walks Terese (love her name) a walking vision in pale skin and dark hair, looking to feed after she has spent quite a bit of time talking herself into it.

It was very intriguing that a vampire thought that maybe a god could be harmed. This short had some awesome banter between all the characters. I had a lot of fun with this, the characters and the story. This seems like the first book of a potential series, but I don’t see a second one listed anywhere. Thankfully this story was a good standalone.

A few scorching scenes mixed with a bit of danger then topped off with some sweetness. Again, it’s a winner for me and I would love to read more from this writer. Do I recommend it? Yes!

For centuries, Lisette d’Alençon has been a warrior against the dark. She fights alongside her brothers and comrades. But when the dreams start coming, she can’t bear to confess them to the Immortal Guardians’ command. Dreams of a dark-haired man with soft eyes and brutal wounds, a man her heart aches for–and a man she knows has been declared a traitor.

Zach is an exile, a loner. He won’t defend himself against false accusations or grovel to those who should have faith in him. But he’ll damn sure defend the woman who kept him sane against a plague of super-vamps that seems to have appeared from nowhere. The Guardians will blame him, and that will make Lisette suspect, too. With life, death and eternity on the line, who can they really trust?

The following are sildenafil tab some of the drugs that are alpha blockers. Fans of paranormal romance who haven’t discovered this series yet are really missing out on something extraordinary. Ms. Duvall has consistently proved her talent with every installment by delivering heart stopping action, thrilling escapes, sizzling romance and heroes and heroines that touch and engage the emotions of a reader. Every single book so far has been almost impossible to put down once I started and Night Unbound continues the tradition. I read it in one day, all 400+ pages. It was that compelling.

If readers like a bad good guy who is misunderstood, Zach is their man. If readers are looking for a romance that embraces sweet and naughty, that can be tender or frenzied, and defies all odds, including threat of death, then this is the book to read. If a race against time and the drama and suspense and all that that entails piques your interest, then a reader should feel right at home. If reading about a strong man who is not intimidated by a strong woman but is turned on by it, who acts like an adorable puppy with the heroine but can wield power better than Darth Vader, then Zach might be the man of your dreams. Zach’s personal growth in this story is tremendously painful but worth every angst filled page. What he turns into is worthy of a swoon – and a rousing cheer.

Lisette is the heroine who teaches Zach to crave a woman’s touch. She’s a warrior and has a wicked talent with swords. She’s also a very brave woman because she stood up to the threat of death in order to be with the man she loved. At no time did the author fall into the trap of making Lisette less than what she started off to be – a strong, independent woman with a confidence to match. Doesn’t mean she doesn’t make mistakes. But the make-up sheet fun was worth reading; every single scene. Well, there was that part that some would consider embarrassing, but I found tremendously funny. I don’t think her brother will recover any time soon. I giggle every time I remember that part.

Secondary characters are too numerous to mention. Perhaps a new reader might get lost when it comes to some of the deep emotional undercurrents between them, mostly because they are much more effective if a reader has the background. But Ms. Duvall did include enough backstory in the natural telling of this tale to catch a reader up to speed so I’m not too worried about calling this a standalone read. In any event, the secondary characters to keep an eye on for future stories are Seth and Aiden. I don’t know too much about Aiden yet but I recognize a wonderful hook when I see one. But Seth, Seth is special. In this novel readers will find out more about him then they ever dreamed they would all in one book. Now I know he is a man in need of love even more than the men I’ve met so far. It’s not too strong of a statement to say that I’m enamored of this series. It’s so rich and meaty!

As for bad guys, Ha! Get ready to be turned around upside down. I was as discombobulated as Zach and as frustrated as Seth. Who could do the impossible and do all that was done? The suspense and mystery of it all had me gripped by my short hairs. I’m still reeling from the ramifications. It was awesome writing.

Night Unbound isn’t just a story, it’s a profound experience. The editing, the characterization, the dialogue, the pace and delivery of the plot and all its environs were simply spot on. I am hard pressed to find anything that didn’t work for me. I adored how Lisette and Zach were together – watching their love grow made me happy. There is sadness too, and tenderness and even hope and joy woven in to keep things balanced. Night Unbound has everything a paranormal romance reader could possibly wish and then some. I cannot express enough my pleasure and satisfaction from having read this book but I encourage readers to discover the unique richness that abounds in Ms. Duvalls books. This book and the rest are treasures.

Almost a hundred years ago, the Enchanters defeated the Lord of the Underworld in one of the most fearsome wars the world had ever seen. The public thinks that this victory means the people are safe. But they’re wrong. The supernatural beasts the Lord unleashed remain on the earth, multiplying and ravaging what’s left of civilization. As long as these monsters exist, mankind will be in danger. And though the government, ruled by the magic-wielding Enchanters, seeks to protect their people, they are too few in number. They need the Defenders – a special class of non-magical humans – to fight the monsters. The Defenders are an elite force, and mankind’s only hope against the horrors that live beyond their gates.

Fourteen-year-old Aurelia “the Firedragon” Sun has been training since she could walk to become a Defender, and her extraordinary combat skills have earned the attention of the powerful government. In fact, she’s been tapped to represent her nation in an international monster-fighting competition, which pits champions from across the globe against creatures of the Underworld in a violent spectacle. If she wins, she will become a full-fledged member of the Defender force.

But as Aurelia moves deeper into the competition, she realizes that all is not as it appears. There’s something sinister behind the competition, something that could change the way she sees everything … and the Enchanters, it seems, are not the heroes she thought. Aurelia begins to ask questions. But before she can discover the truth, she is pitted against the most dangerous monster in the competition – one that will take her life if it can.

It’s never easy to crush stereotypes, but that’s what Aurelia will need to do if she has any hope of becoming a Defender.

The monsters Aurelia encounters during the competition made my skin crawl. Some of them were introduced without any explanation at all of what Aurelia was facing. This made figuring out why they were such a threat even more intriguing. Their abilities – magical and otherwise – are a big reason why the age recommendation is 14+. Some of the scenes that describe them would definitely not be appropriate for younger readers, although older teens and adults will find a lot of creepy stuff between these pages.

It would have been helpful to have more world-building as the plot progressed. The glimpses into Aurelia’s society were fascinating, and I hope they will be more fully explored in the full-length sequel that will be published early next year from what I’ve read. I understand why the author wouldn’t want to give everything away so early, but there were a few times when I really could have used slightly more detailed explanations about exactly how their institutionalized discrimination affects the daily lives of everyone who isn’t born with magical powers.

While I’m looking forward to seeing what Aurelia does next, I was quite pleased by how well everything was wrapped up in her first adventure. The Firedragon is most definitely a standalone story, and that’s something that matters a lot to me when I’m debating whether or not to continue on with a series. My appetite has been whetted for more!

I’d heartily recommend The Firedragon to anyone who loves science fiction that’s set in the distant future.

Jax cares too much about Cleo to let her get too close—but keeping his distance is proving impossible! As Jax reveals the extent of what he’s been through, will Cleo show him that some things are too precious to put off until tomorrow?

I have not read a Harlequin romance in a while, so it was nice to read one again. The Return of the Rebel is light and fluffy story, low on drama and without sex scenes. It is one of those romances that can be hand down from grandma, to mother, to daughter.

The Return of the Rebel is second chance story told from the POV of both main characters. The characters are likable, although I preferred Cleo over Jax. Cleo is much stronger character than Jax. She knows how to take things into her own hands in order to get their happy-end. I expected that Jax would be more alpha rebel, but actually he was just a boy from the wrong side of the tracks.

The story is interesting and it flows nicely and both characters change and grow by the end of it and all issues raised are resolved nicely. It contains a bit of suspense but it is not romantic suspense novel.

The Return of the Rebel is great summer read.

Jade has a dedicated boyfriend, an overprotective mom, and a full scholarship. Uprooted from Nantucket, Jade is installed off-island at her dad’s new house so she can attend snobby Layton Academy. Leaving Charlie behind is sheer torment, but living with her father has plenty of dangerous distraction—in the form of a terrifying spirit haunting her new school. As she delves into the ghost’s past, the disturbing secrets Jade learns draw her into a deadly confrontation with a desperate man. If she can’t play his demented game, the spirit’s harrowing fate could become her own.

Moving to a new community might change whom you meet along the way, but it can never change your destiny.

It was fascinating to see the relationship between Jade and her father develop during the course of this tale as he wasn’t part of her daily life in the first book in this series. Her connection to his side of the family hasn’t always been that strong, so she has a lot to learn about them. There is plenty of unexplored territory between them, though, and I hope that this series will spend even more time exploring this part of her life in the future.

A few chapters were written from the perspective of a secondary character. The first time it happened I was surprised, and when it happened again I wondered why the author made the decision to show her audience these scenes from someone else’s point of view. The secondary character has an interesting perspective, but the story would have been stronger if it had only been told from Jade’s point of view due to how much scarier some scenes would have been if I’d known only what she knew.

There were a few plot threads in the first book that never quite found satisfactory endings in it. I was pleased to see them picked back up again in the sequel, especially when it came to a romantic relationship that I found bizarre due to how the individuals in it knew one another. While they technically weren’t breaking any laws, it was cathartic to finally have this topic addressed in a more realistic manner.

The most important details from Ever Near are briefly alluded to from time to time. There have been some major changes in Jade’s life since then. Readers who are familiar with those adventures will discover a few surprises along the way, but it’s not strictly necessary to understand all of those references in order to enjoy this sequel.

Ever Lost was a wild ride. Anyone who likes ghost stories should give it a try!

I hope she chooses to really go deeper into the characters and the whole back story of Earth’s demise over the next book or so. This one was fast paced, almost too fast in areas that glossed over opportunity to insert details. Still, it was a good read in that it kept the story progressing from the first book and had me yearning for more. So, yes and yes, I’d recommend it and I enjoyed it. Props to you Ms. Leaf.

Excerpt Four/Chapter One:

“Uncle Walter, what a pleasant surprise. I’m so glad you’re here with us on such a lovely morn,” said Ravenna, pulling out her chair.

He swallowed his oatmeal and smiled. “I have to meet with His Majesty later this morn and I thought to pay you girls a visit.”

Lord Walter Mildmay, her mother’s brother, had been appointed the Walsingham family’s guardian, but their situation was more pretense than anything. Uncle Walter had his own estate and family, while he permitted Ravenna and her sisters to stay under their own roof. At twenty-five years old, Ravenna handled all the accounts, managed the servants, and had served as a mother figure to the girls since the deaths of their parents.

Uncle Walter, with his dark hair and tanned skin, was the complete opposite of Ravenna’s fair-skinned mother. No one would ever think they were of the same relation, especially because his hair was as black as night. Ravenna always thought the man looked like a bloody pirate.

Ravenna’s father, Lord Francis Walsingham, had been Queen Elizabeth’s principal secretary until his death. Little did anyone know that her sire had also been the queen’s spy. Given that Ravenna’s father had handled all of the royal correspondence and had determined the agenda of the council meetings, he had been a very influential man in his time, which fortunately now worked in Ravenna’s favor.

In short, she was a spy for King James and the Crown, the same as her father had been under Queen Elizabeth’s reign. When Ravenna was old enough to show an interest in political matters, her father had educated and conditioned her to one day take his place. She lived in a man’s world, but that’s why she was so proficient at doing what she did—a mere woman was the last thing anyone would expect. Her family meant everything to her, and she was deter¬mined to keep her siblings sheltered and protected for as long as possible.

Especially from unsavory establishments like the one last eve.

After everyone finished their meal and polite conversation, Ravenna and Uncle Walter excused themselves and met behind the closed doors of her father’s study. With the dark wooden furnishings, the large desk, and her father’s books lining the wall, the room always reminded Ravenna of her father. At times, she could swear she even smelled his scent, almost as if he wanted her to know that he still watched over her.

“What did you find out?” asked Uncle Walter, tapping his fingers on the desk.

Ravenna sat in her father’s chair. “I followed Lord Cobham into the Devil’s Tavern. The man he met with was Charles Paget. I thought he was still in Paris.”

Her uncle sat forward, his eyes narrowing. “I suppose it should come as no surprise. His Majesty gave Paget back his manor of Weston-on-Trent and his other homes in Derbyshire, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye on him. As usual, I’ll pass along the information to the king’s advisors. You did well, Ravenna.”

“Grace is questioning my sudden disappearances, and I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to keep the truth from her.”

“You know as well as I do that it’s better she doesn’t know what you do. Perhaps we should start thinking about arranging a marriage for her.”

Ravenna rubbed her fingers over the bridge of her nose. “I really want to give her some time. She doesn’t show an interest in anyone at the moment, and I’m not quite ready to force her into a marriage.” She paused. “Let me think about it.”

He bobbed his head. “There is another assignment from His Majesty.”

“So soon? I just completed this one.” She sat forward, frowning. “What is it this time?”
