Ann Adams has a new little friend, her neighbor’s daughter. They spend a great deal of time together, and it’s not like Eli’s difficult to get along with. Of course, he’s one of the most eligible bachelors in town. A wealthy, sexy single dad who can have his pick of women.

Only, Eli has his eyes set on one woman. When Ann lets it slip that she’s still a virgin, he takes a chance. He wants her and will do whatever it takes to show her a good time—no commitments.

They can’t deny what brought them together, but can he trust that his love for her will keep them together?

When Ann had moved into her new home, so too had her neighbor, Eli and his young daughter, Katie. Ann enjoys spending time with Katie and while Eli can be stand off-ish Ann can clearly tell he’s been hurt in the past and only wants to protect Katie. When the chemistry gets to be too much for Ann and Eli to ignore, can they make things work?

I enjoyed this hotly written, explicit erotic romance. While there is quite an age difference between Ann and Eli – almost twenty years – Ann is not some shrinking violet in need of protection and at no point did I feel Eli’s character wanted to take advantage of her. I was pleased the author took the building of the relationship between Ann and Eli slowly. While they both were at different points in their life the sexual chemistry and attraction between them was clear to see. I was pleased though that the author had the more emotional and realistic elements deepen as the story progressed. With a five year old daughter Eli had plenty of responsibilities outside of his own feelings, and Ann was careful in not wanting to over-step the boundaries of what Eli was comfortable with at any given time. I felt this added a lot of complexity and realistic elements into the story and made it a lot richer and more relatable.

While the conflict aspects of the story were fairly predictable – other man-hungry single mothers and a few financial blips – I was pleased that there were some problems and easily relatable issues that both Ann and Eli needed to work with and come to terms with. I was also particularly pleased that Katie was never part of any disagreements between the two adults. Both Eli and Ann had nothing but love for Katie and only wanted the very best for her.

With plenty of steamy sex and an enjoyable and understandable plot this was a great read and one I enjoyed.

Through the Lens by Adriana Kraft – Spotlight and Giveaway

About Our Story

Does your family history contain scandal? Ours does, as recently as my mother’s grandfather, who was born a bastard in an era when that status carried far more stigma than now. His mother – a logger’s daughter who served as a camp cook – was shunned and shamed for much of her life. On the other side, my husband’s grandfather was a bigamist. A threshing crew foreman in the early 1900s, he married and had children in Missouri, then married again in Kansas. My husband’s grandmother divorced him when she learned of the other family; their son, my husband’s father, was ten years old.

We blessed—or perhaps cursed—our Through the Lens heroine with elements of these scandals. Naturally, she’s heard some of the stories. Through the Lens chronicles her struggle with these long-forgotten roots. Will she claim them, or run the other way?

Prairie roots can be deceptive. Will Ellen Jeffers cling to the sedate past that’s familiar, or will she embrace a different version of her history—one that includes tragedy, scandal, fortitude, and freedom?

It’s 2002, and South Dakota third grade teacher Ellen Jeffers has signed up for a photography summer course and assistantship at an art academy in Minneapolis. Thirty-three, divorced for nearly a decade from her college boyfriend, she’s not seeking major change. She just hopes the course will enhance her teaching skills and her resume.

Aaron Brewster comes from privilege, and he has used that status to flaunt his family’s values and carve out a successful career as a photographer specializing in black and white erotic portraiture. Has he ever loved? His love is for beauty, sensuality, eroticism. His new uptight teaching assistant will never fit that vision. Should he send her packing? For reasons he cannot fathom, he takes her on as a challenge.

Aaron’s frontal assault shocks Ellen, but it also triggers something deep inside she’s never been willing to acknowledge. Is her beloved prairie a safe refuge, or will it become a crucible for transformation? The choice is not merely Ellen’s.

Enjoy an Excerpt

Fixing his gaze on the rather stoic woman sitting across from him at the small table in his academy office, Aaron Brewster tried his best to get a good read on her. He’d spent much of his life reading women—their moods and their desires. He’d developed a reputation for being adept at capturing feminine subtleties in black and white.

Ellen Jeffers was one of those rare women who defied immediate description. She vacillated between projecting an air of haughtiness—which he supposed came with being a schoolteacher who seldom believed her audience understood her—to projecting an air of innocence characteristic of a girl from the South Dakota prairie making her way in the unfamiliar big city. And in between those poles, he witnessed prim and proper, mystery, smugness, disdain, awe, shyness, self-censure, and thankfully a spark or two of humor.

If she was going to work with him, he’d have to get her in front of the camera. It was through the camera lens that he could best sort out the nuances of a woman and his own feelings about her. Keeping his smile to himself, he wondered if his summer teaching assistant had ever posed in the nude.

He needed help with his tits-and-ass study, but the way Ellen Jeffers blanched at some of nude pics hanging on his office walls, he wasn’t sure she’d be helpful with that project. He’d take a wait-and-see position about her usefulness. At the very least, he needed an assistant comfortable enough in her own skin to help models prepare themselves for the scrutiny of the camera.

“Do you only do nude portraits?” Ellen asked, glancing quickly from one photo to another and back to him.

“Some subjects are partially clad,” he said dryly. “So does nudity bother you, Ellen? Is it okay if I call you Ellen? Given how close we’ll be working together, first names seem more natural.”

“Of course, please do.”

“And nudity?” He arched an eyebrow. “You are comfortable with nudity, right? You’ve been married. You’ve hung around art students, and you applied to this program.”

“My undergraduate college didn’t allow nude modeling.” She didn’t blink. “I had hoped to expand my knowledge of landscape photography or taking action pictures of children.”

“I see. You’re avoiding my question, but that’s okay. In case you’re wondering, I didn’t select you as my teaching assistant. You were the only person available when I returned from a conference. So if you want to blame someone for your misfortune, blame my colleagues. This is sort of like going on a blind date.” He paused. “I’ve only been on one. I didn’t like it.”

Ellen’s laughter came quick and a little harsh. “At least we can agree on that.” She swallowed. “So I guess it’s safe to assume that you don’t do weddings, family portraits and such.”

He shook his head. He’d love to have a window into the strawberry blonde’s brain as she appeared to check off her options. She didn’t have many, and he knew it. She could go back to South Dakota, but he’d already witnessed her grit. Ellen Jeffers wouldn’t run if she could manage at all.

She smacked her lips. “I haven’t spent much time around nudity”—she gave him a wry smile—”and much of that was in the dark. It may take me a while, but I’m sure I’ll be comfortable enough.”

Weaponized narcotics are being transported into the US. An outbreak is sure to be deadly, but it is a race against time to locate and stop these tainted narcotics from reaching the US.

Recently, I just wasn’t feeling the desire to read. Narco-Submarine, Cartel’s Silent Service was just the book I needed to get back into the groove. It only took the first few pages for the plot to grip my attention. Once I started reading this well-written book, I was unable to put it down.

This novel was an across-the-board entertaining read. The plot consisted of a steady pace that took this reader on an adventure that left me riveted to my seat until the end. There were two specific scenes where I expected a dramatic plot twist yet there wasn’t one. That in itself was a startling turn of events and it made the story unpredictable. At one point I was expecting the worst case scenario and my stress was high. You have no idea of the vast wave of relief I felt when it didn’t occur. Since reviews are a matter of opinion, someone else might be disappointed with that writing style but I wasn’t. I experienced plenty of anxiety provoking plot lines throughout the story to make up for it.

This book is actually Charles R Darner, Jr.’s second book. The main characters are the same in both books, however, each can be read as a standalone. I was pleased with the addition of the new cast members. The author provided just enough character development to keep the story going without me getting lost or confused.

My husband often says to get my head out of my books, that they aren’t real. I know they are make-believe but sometimes I have to wonder, how real could it be? How many times has fiction turned into fact? I have a new perspective when I see a Coast Guard helicopter fly over the beach.

I enjoyed reading Narco-Submarine, Cartel’s Silent Service and look forward to the next installment in this series. I’m interested in finding out how Sarah and Jarratt met. I recommend this book to other readers that like action/adventure. It sure kept me turning the pages.

Can Aerial Bonné, a free-spirit psychic, and Frank O’Malley, a skeptical cop, work together to solve an abduction that happened over thirty years ago?

She’s all about feelings and wants a fling with no commitments. He’s all about protection, strength and being in control.

The bad guy kidnapped a little girl, who’s now his “daughter”. Over the years, he’s become increasingly paranoid and believes every conspiracy he’s heard about. Now he believes Aerial is plotting against him.

Even though they’re falling for each other sparks fly when things go wrong, will his job, her temporary visit in Minnesota and the bad guy keep them apart?

Aerial had been having a series of strange, disturbing dreams and much as she wanted to she knew she couldn’t ignore them. Aerial had worked a few times with Frank when the policeman had been working certain cases, but this time Aerial and Frank might both be ready to finally take a chance on each other.

I really enjoyed this paranormal story. Aerial is not a young woman – her grown-up daughter gets married in the opening scenes of the book – and I loved how the story was completely outside the box of what might traditionally be classified as a romantic story. I was really pleased that Frank didn’t automatically ignore or down-play Aerial’s visions or instincts. I could totally understand how a character that needed to be as pragmatic and linear-thinking as a police officer could brush aside things like psychic dreams or seeing aura’s, but Frank was open minded and willing to listen. I felt this openness really helped progress the story and really highlight the ways in which Frank and Aerial were compatible.

Readers looking for a thriller-style of story should, I feel, find this totally suits their tastes. The snippets of Aerial’s dreams were equal parts creepy and enlightening to my mind. I felt they added a lot of tension and conflict to the story without being too over the top or unrealistic. I also really liked that about a quarter of the way through the story the author began to show us things from the perspective of the protagonist. I can appreciate how some mystery/thriller readers wouldn’t like having the “bad guy” unmasked so early on in the story, but personally I felt this really added depth and perspective to the entire plot. I often feel the “why” aspect of any storyline is equally important to the “who” part. By seeing the situation from the protagonists eyes it gave me a lot deeper understanding of what was occurring from his side of the story and I felt this really added complexity and depth to the whole book.

While there were a few coincidences that I feel might have been better smoothed over or explained in more depth, but overall I thought this story was complex, well paced and very well written. The romance between Aerial and Frank had a deliciously slow pace to it. I enjoyed that the two characters got to know each other first and then had a few chaste dates and kisses before moving things into more intimate areas. While the sex between Aerial and Frank was explicit I don’t feel it should be offensive or too over the top for most readers. Also, I felt strongly that the romance in the story was secondary – the focus far more strongly upon the paranormal themes and the mystery of Aerial’s dreams and the cold case of the missing girl.

With an interesting set of characters, a lot of ambiance and a wonderful, convoluted plot this was a great mystery that I really enjoyed reading. I’d definitely read more by this author.

Who has more right to the land?

Park ranger Lacey Montgomery and rancher Clay Stevens are on opposite sides of a thorny issue. Lacey has spent her career reintroducing wolves to Rocky Ridge National Park and now oversees the welfare of the pack. Clay has struggled for years to make a success of the historic ranch he inherited and is tired of losing his calves to predators.

When Clay’s teenage nephew and his friends carelessly endanger a wild wolf and her pups, Clay and Lacey’s lives collide. They shouldn’t be so attracted to each other—she’s a hometown girl beloved in the community, while he’s still regarded as a city-slicker interloper. But Clay’s piercing blue eyes make Lacey’s pulse race, and her sweet face and kissable lips are drawing him under her spell, much as he tries to resist…

Opposites attract, but the terrain between them is awfully rough…

Enjoy an Excerpt

Wiping his hands on a towel, Clay turned to her, his smile both hesitant and undeniably charming. “I’d offer an after-dinner walk along the river, but…”

The words hung uncompleted, neither wanting to finish the sentence and admit to the difficulties surrounding their new relationship. Instead, Lacey reached for Clay’s hand, wrapping her fingers around his. “I don’t need moonlit strolls.”

His blue eyes softened into warm pools as he lifted their intertwined hands and kissed the back of her knuckles. He released her fingers, only to gently cup her face instead. “I’d still like to take you on them though.”

A burst of joy ricocheted through Lacey, settling in her heart. She ran her fingers through his hair, and his expression turned so intense that she swore she felt a tug deep in her soul.

“Then why don’t you tell me about it.” She paused a beat before adding, “In your bedroom.”

He kissed her, his lips hot and demanding. She met his hunger with her own. His hands slipped from her face, skimming lightly down her sides until they settled at her waist. He pulled her close, and her body, already liquid from the warm heat spreading through her, molded against his. The kiss deepened. The more they indulged, the more they craved.

Clay lifted his lips from hers. They stood under the overhead kitchen light, each breathing hard. This time, it was Clay who extended his hand. Lacey immediately took it and allowed him to lead her.

“First, we’d walk through the scrub to get to the river,” Clay said, his voice low and soft. It seemed to have a current all its own, both peaceful and raging at the same time. “We’d hold hands just like this, and I’d rub my thumb over your skin.”

A shiver ran through Lacey at the gentle brush of flesh against flesh. “I like this stroll.”

He laughed, the sound a deep, rolling rumble. “So do I.”

They reached the first landing, and he paused by a window. Moonlight bathed them, and his blond hair almost appeared silver. He drew her close, his lips mere inches from hers. She could feel the puff of his breath, but he didn’t dip his head. Instead, he spoke in a husky whisper, this time using the present tense instead of what-ifs. “The water is below us now. It’s like a glowing ribbon cutting through the land.”

“I can hear it,” Lacey said. “A rushing babble breaking the night’s stillness.”

Clay’s mouth pressed against hers. A butterfly kiss. Then another. The next one landed on the corner of her mouth as he slowly worked his way across her cheek and jaw. When he reached her ear, he told her quietly, “We stop for a bit, enchanted by the beauty. But we don’t stay. We head for the grove of cottonwoods. Normally, we’d hear Steller’s jays scolding us, but they’re asleep at this hour.”

Clay stepped back and led her up the steps and down a hallway. They moved swiftly now, their breathing labored as if they’d actually taken a long hike. He paused at the end of the corridor. When he pushed open the door, Lacey said, “We startle a mountain cottontail.”

Clay chuckled. “I can just make out a faint rustle as he hops away.”

They entered his bedroom. He’d pulled the curtain nearly shut, but he’d left a big enough gap to allow bright moonlight to seep into the room. They walked inside, still hand in hand. The old wooden floorboards creaked beneath their feet.

“There’s the splash of an otter fishing in the creek,” Lacey said.

Clay stopped at the foot of the bed. “I lay out one of the old family quilts for us.”

This time, their narration wasn’t completely make-believe. A coverlet with a log-cabin design adorned the massive, mission-style bed. The room itself was bigger than most bedrooms for the time period of the house, but it had been designed after an English manor. It made for a cavernous space. Aside from a rope rug and basic furniture, Clay hadn’t done much decorating. Nothing hung on the walls, except for a single, unembellished mirror and a couple of photos of the ranch, which she assumed he’d taken. The emptiness momentarily sucked away some of Lacey’s joy, but she hid it. Clay hadn’t brought her into his private space for sympathy, and offering any would do more harm than good.

Instead, she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him long and deep. He groaned against her mouth, the sound guttural. He picked her up, and she wrapped her legs around his torso. Without breaking their embrace, he carried her over to the bed. They tumbled onto the mattress, their lips locked, their limbs tangled. A desperate, urgent edge now drove their lovemaking. Lacey’s blood thundered through her like a galloping mustang, wild and unfettered. She reached for Clay’s Western shirt, her fingers fumbling at the buttons. His mouth moved from hers, trailing across her chin and then down her throat. When he hit a sensitive spot, she gasped. He paused, applying a gentle suction before his tongue darted out. Intense pleasure shot through her. She arched, yanking on the button still between her fingers. It ripped loose, and she felt his lips curve against her flesh.

“Why, Miss Montgomery, are you tearing off my clothes?”

“I’ll sew it back on,” she promised.

“I have more shirts. Feel free to continue. I want your hands on me. All of me.”

A landslide of need collided in her. Without taking time to think, Lacey bunched the fabric in both hands and pulled sharply. The buttons flew off with satisfying pops.

Clay lifted his head to stare down at her. The moonlight glinted off the golden strands in his arched brow. “You are surprisingly good at that.”

She smiled and ran her fingers over his defined pecs. “Beginner’s luck and plenty of motivation. I’ve been wanting to touch you for weeks.”

Clay responded with a long, hard kiss. “You’re making it very hard to take it slow.”

“Sorry,” she said with a surprising giggle. Even as a teenager, she’d rarely tittered. If she was going to laugh, it was going to be a full one. But now. In this moment. The lighthearted sound seemed right, a delightful echo of the buoyancy Clay made her feel.

His fingers grazed the bottom of her T-shirt. “May I?”

She nodded. “I’ve been fantasizing about that too.”

He chuckled, the sound a little raw. “Not nearly as much as I have.”

She’s just what the doctor ordered… but never knew he needed.

U.S. Marshal-turned-Sheriff Taylor James can trace her family back to the original thirteen Marshals appointed by George Washington. She’s good at her job, but once they find out she’s the local law, she can’t get even one of her dates to stay past the appetizers. Her plan? Convince good friend and hot neighbor Dr. Gabriel Adams to give her dating lessons since his dance card is always full.

A survivor of childhood leukemia with no guarantee his remission will last, Gabe lives by two rules: Don’t get emotionally involved and don’t let his well organized life spiral out of control. When he’s given a baby, with his name on her birth certificate, he needs Taylor’s help. But dangling dating lessons in exchange? If that will get the dedicated sheriff to lend a helping hand, could it be a bargain worth making?

Enjoy an excerpt:

Gabe parked his Jeep behind her truck.

Taylor had to admit the man had the goods. With chestnut hair, cut short, and dark brown eyes, sporting a sexy sense of humor in triplicate, the rumors had to be true. Irresistible charm, coupled with the touch-me cleft in his chin, and a light growth of beard he never quite shaved smooth, his dating card most certainly had a wait list.

Taylor resisted fanning her face. She wasn’t one of his dating bunnies, and getting in line wasn’t on her must-do list. Gabe Adams was every woman’s fantasy. Just not hers.

He frowned at the bag in her hands. The line between his dark brows smoothed into a clarity that had her teeth grinding. “Want to talk about the latest dating disaster?”

A startling idea braked to a halt in her head. Shoving the crazy thought into a mental locker, she shrugged. “He had to rush off to an estate sale.”

“Likely story.”

“That’s what I thought,” she muttered, giving in to his charming smile.

“When did you tell him you’re the sheriff?”

She rolled her eyes. Here it comes.

She knew it. Her timing had been off. “Did you hear Our Town is opening at the new theater next month? Are you planning to go?”

He narrowed his gaze on her. Taylor squirmed. And not in a good way. “You told him right off the bat, didn’t you? I keep telling you to wait until the date is over before revealing you’re a lawman…woman…whatever. Guys aren’t keen on the idea that the gal they’re dating can ticket them for racing through residential districts or bust them for being non-compliant with local business laws.”

“You think he’s a felon?” She ground her teeth. That would be a great addition to her already smeared résumé.

She could see the headline in the Angel Point Gazette now. “Taylor James, Former U.S. Marshal Turned Small Town Sheriff, Seen At The Chowder House With Notorious Criminal.” Now she was going to have to check the man for wants and warrants.

Snowed in at her family’s Smoky Mountains cabin, Brie Wright is roughing it alone. Tired of playing by the rules, she’s determined to step over the line at the next opportunity. Her chance comes in the form of a mountain man in a tractor. And not just any mountain man, but Dean Carlisle, who stole her heart so many years ago. The cipla levitra 100mg last for more than 3 hours that is enough for anybody to have the satisfactory love-making experience. A bit of peace and quiet after a difficult year studying and recovering from a broken engagement sounded perfect to Brie, until she found herself snowed in and a bit more quiet than she’d expected. Determined to shake off the last of her failed relationship, Brie swears to take the next available opportunity to dive into a quick, casual fling. When Dean, a neighborhood boy she remembers fondly from her past, plows the driveway Brie is determined to not let this chance meeting pass.

Fun and seriously sexy this “snowed in” style of story was a delightful, quick read. The fact Brie and Dean knew each other from childhood vacations in their families cabins helped keep the near insta-lust that flared between them within the realms of possibility. But readers looking for a deep, complex and slow-burn style of romance won’t find that here. I can understand the author’s desire to keep the pace moving fast since this is a very short story, but a part of me would have liked a bit more time spent on the emotional connection between Brie and Dean, not just their chemistry and physical attraction.

I found Brie to be a completely relatable character, with worries and insecurities and her failed engagement was far enough back in her past to make her determination to move on totally understandable. Readers who are happy to disconnect their brains and roll with the sexy shenanigans should find this explicit and steamy romance to be a bundle of fun. While most of the story revolves around Brie and Dean reconnecting on a physical level, I was pleased that toward the end of the story they talked a little bit, though a part of me would have liked a bit more depth and connection to this part of the story.

With a delicious Happy For Now style of ending and enough steam between Brie and Dean to melt the snow surrounding them, this is a lovely reunion style of snowed-in short story. Readers looking for a quick, explicit and intense story should find this suits their needs and is a lovely fast read.
