I found this book to be delightful, but it didn’t really grab my attention. The hero and heroine were strong characters but the storyline didn’t really have any true excitement until the end. The first part dwelt on her kissing to search for her rescuer, but I felt it went on for too long.

However, the end came through with excitement and in the last page or two humor came to the fore. Definitely a cozy read for a rainy afternoon in front of the fire.

A killer forces them on the run…

Assistant DA Nicole Bevens is a fierce opponent in the courtroom and demands justice for her clients. She’s as smart as she is beautiful, but when her former step-father breaks out of prison and comes after her intending to make her his next victim, she is placed into protective custody.

Detectives Trey Marsh and Jordan Wallace will do whatever it takes to protect Nicole—even if that means letting her have her way with their bodies. When trouble comes their way, they will put themselves in harm’s way to safeguard the woman they’ve come to love.

Nicole was used to turning heads and being vastly underestimated in her work within the DA’s office. She didn’t mind too much – by the time most men realised she had a solid brain inside her pretty blonde head it was too late – their guilty clients were already half-way to jail. She enjoyed her work and relished putting the guilty away for a long, long time. Only now one of the worst killers she knew had escaped prison and had a long-seated grudge against her. With two dead-sexy detectives assigned to guard her body Nicole isn’t too concerned about her safety, until she discovers these men might just be a risk to her heart.

I really enjoyed this short story. I was particularly pleased that the author managed to really balance the plot with the hot ménage sex. At no stage did I feel like one or the other was getting short-changed. The tension of having a crazy psychopath out on the loose and chasing after Nicole felt real enough to me that it didn’t feel like a plot-device, but a genuine source of conflict and worry for Nicole’s safety, and therefore of both Trey and Jordan in their roles as police protection. I also felt the chemistry between the two men and Nicole added a good layer of sexiness to the whole story without overdoing it. The three of them didn’t simply hop straight into bed, but progressed in a more natural way from trusting each other to becoming more intimate. I thought this really helped guide me along as the reader and made the relationship and dynamics between Trey, Jordan and Nicole feel more realistic.

Nicole had some extremely modern thoughts on sex and romance which took me a moment to process. While I enjoyed her strength and freedom of thought I also found it a little sad just how vulnerable it made Nicole seem to me. I was pleased both Trey and Jordan could see through Nicole’s attitude and understand the complexities underlying it. My only slight quibble with the story was the speed with which much of the plot was wrapped up and some of the coincidences that needed to align for it. Given the short page-count I totally understand the author couldn’t drag things out or have a complicated trail to follow for the conclusion, but this did leave me feeling like the plot was a little rushed toward the end.

The sex was hot and prolific, to my mind. I enjoyed that Nicole was intimate with both Trey and Jordan separately before they got together as a threesome. While a ménage is clearly where both Trey and Jordan wanted to head from the beginning I actually was pleased that Nicole was attracted to each man independently and was sexually interested in them both – that one wasn’t just a “tag along”. This helped me feel like the ménage began and worked on an equal footing which I really liked.

With a solid plot and some seriously hot threesome sex this is a great short story that I feel sure will appeal to many readers.

Writing tips
How to get organized

Of all the things that I could share with you today, I thought to write about the things I would’ve like someone to tell me before I started writing.

Writing is art, that is a given. But not only because of the beauty of its final version, I believe that its beauty starts in the form of an intention. The unique and interesting idea that keeps wandering around your head begging to be written. Allow your thoughts and ideas to be shaped into art.

Brainstorm

Don’t know where to start? First step is to get your ideas written.

Grab a piece of paper, an old notebook, your computer or tablet and let your thoughts go wild and form words. These words don’t have to be articulate, pretty, or make any sense at all. Let go and write everything you imagine when thinking about your story.

Don’t limit yourself! Add whatever you think is necessary to understand your own thoughts and bring them to life.

Map it out

Now it’s the time to build the puzzle.

Go back to your brainstorm and look at each idea, then elaborate on it. Keep in mind that this is only for you, so again, your words only need to make sense to you.

During this step get those ideas in order. What happened first? Is there something missing in your events? You might not have all the answers to your questions as you start, but it will help you get the story organized. If there’s something you can’t answer at the moment, make sure to leave a note. As you start writing it might get resolved.

Writing

This should be the fun part. The part you invest the most of your time and energy. What you’ve been waiting for.

Writing isn’t always easy, there’s a lot of emotions to manage (those that belong to you, and those of your characters). The only way you’re going to successfully finish writing your story is if you set a schedule for yourself. Even if it’s just an hour a day, make the time for it. As you make a routine for yourself, your writing will advance and become the book of your dreams.

The Loop

Keep in mind that once you finished, you created your first draft. Some authors are so great at writing, that the first draft might as well be the final product, but if you’re a beginner you might want to self-assess your work and do a little revision of your work. Personally, after I finish my first draft, I go back to step one.

I revise my brainstorm and mind map, make sure that I have all those ideas I wanted in my book. While I’m at it, I look at my notes and questions, sometimes surprising myself that I’ve already worked them out as I wrote; some others, I find that now I have the answers to those questions (since I know my characters and their situations better). Then I go back to my writing and revise it, do some rewriting and feel so much more confident about my product.

Use this step as many times as you seem necessary. It is totally up to you how many times you go back to square one, and how many times you revise, edit and rewrite. You’ll know when your words are ready to face someone else’s eyes.

Formal Revision and Feedback

As you perfect your personal writing process, you’ll decide what happens next. Some authors send their manuscript straight to their editors, some others send it to beta readers or their friends to revise. The decision is yours.

What I do now, is first send my manuscript to my editor. She’s a wonderful writer and the best editor in the world. We’ve work together long enough that we understand each other, and even if sometimes we don’t see eye to eye, I know that her recommendations have my best interest in mind. It can be hard to rewrite and delete some scenes most times, that’s why it is so important that you trust the people you’re working with.

After that, I send the second version of my beta readers. They’re awesome! They’ve help me grow so much, as a writer and as a person. With them, I even discuss changes that I’m uncertain about. And this helps me take some decisions easily. After their revision, the book goes back to my editor for one last round of edits.

All of these steps and filters help me create the best book I possibly can. I didn’t follow all this steps at the beginning, but now they are a solid part of my writing process. It takes some time, but it’s all worth it. I also highly recommend that you read your manuscript out loud. This has helped me so much. It gives your written words a whole new meaning.

Now it’s up to you if and how you want to publish. If you want to do it, GO FOR IT!

I believe you can do it.

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride. I’d heard that saying more than once now. And I was about to hear it once again.

“Kassie! Kassie, wake up! I’m getting married,” a high-pitched voice squealed at me at 3:00 a.m.

Who the hell is this? I had picked up the phone without even looking at the caller ID. Oh, Laura. Great.

“Kassandra, are you listening? I’m engaged!” Laura screamed from the other side of the phone.

“Yeah, wow,” I said. “Congratulations.”

“I can’t believe you, Kassie. You should be more excited. You’ll get to be my bridesmaid!” The volume of her voice kept rising.

“I’m happy for you, Laura.” I really didn’t know at the moment how I felt. I was trying to look around to see exactly where I was. “Believe me. It’s just…it’s three o’clock, and I was sleeping.”

After looking at my surroundings, I remembered I was in my own house. I had a minor headache, probably from all the drinking the night before, and my body ached a bit. I looked beside me and found the reason for my hurt.

Next to me I found the silhouette of a beautiful man. The memories of the few hours before my abrupt awakening came back at me:

A bar. A blond. My home. Some sex…in that order.

“I know it’s late, but I had to give you the good news.”

“And news it is.” She was the last of my best friends who was single; not so long ago we roamed all the bars in town together, looking for men to hook up with, and suddenly she was engaged.

“The Story of Kao Yu” is a new fantasy short story by the legendary Peter S. Beagle which tells of an aging judge traveling through rural China and of a criminal he encounters. Of the story, Beagle says it “comes out of a lifelong fascination with Asian legendry — Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Indonesian — all drawn from cultures where storytelling, in one form of another, remains a living art. As a young writer I loved everything from Robert van Gulik’s Judge Dee mysteries to Lafcadio Hearn’s translations of Japanese fairytales and many lesser-known fantasies. Like my story ‘The Tale of Junko and Sayuri,’ ‘The Story of Kao Yu’ is a respectful imitation of an ancient style, and never pretends to be anything else. But I wrote it with great care and love, and I’m still proud of it.“

And think of making love levitra 40 mg http://cute-n-tiny.com/category/cute-animals/page/27/ as something that gives you fulfillment rather than the physical aspect. It isn’t always easy to tell when someone is lying or who to believe when two people tell contradictory versions of the same events.

Figuring out whether I thought the criminal was guilty or innocent of the things she’d been accused of intrigued me. There was evidence to support both answers, and it wasn’t entirely clear at first which one the audience or Kao Yu, the judge, were supposed to think of as the correct one. I enjoyed the process of weighing the various factors the author shared with his audience and deciding what I thought probably happened before the judge came to town.

It would have been helpful to have more details included in this story. Kao Yu’s interactions with the criminal he kept meeting up with fascinated me, but they were described so rapidly that it was hard for me to imagine what was happening in those scenes. This pattern repeated itself over and over again.

The ending fit the tone of this tale well. There was so much conflict happening in the main character’s mind and life that I looked forward to seeing how it would all be resoved. The fact that the author figured out how to tie everything together in a way that made sense and fit the beautiful imagery of the earlier scenes made me smile. I didn’t want it to end so soon, but I was also quite satisfied by how it was all wrapped up.

The Story of Kao Yu should be read by anyone who likes legends or fairy tales. While it was written recently, it feels much older than it is in a very good way.

When two strong alpha types come together, more than just sparks fly…

Two years ago, General Micah Andrews denied the mating pull he felt for Zach Tyler and walked away. Since then, Micah has been doing his job, but his heart has not been in it. Zach Tyler spent two long, lonely years wandering the team lands in his white tiger form. But when Micah shows up in Paladin, Zach returns to his human form to focus on healing his sick mate in the hopes he will not walk away again.

Can Zach forgive his gun-shy mate for denying their mating for so long? Can Micah learn to relax? Will the men be able to put the past to rest in order to look ahead to their future together? Or will the white tiger lose his mate in the end?

Micah was a General and even though he was close enough to taste his retirement, he wasn’t quite finished when Sergeant Zach Tyler had insisted they were mates. “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” might have been lifted, but Micah knew coming out would kill his career in certain circles. And so he had denied Zach and tried to go on with the final stages of his career. Two years later after some dire warnings from his doctor, Micah is ready to finally see if Zach’s predictions were truthful or not. Only will Zach be willing to take another chance on Micah after being burned the first time?

I thoroughly enjoyed this fun short story. While I don’t think reading the previous installments of the Team Paladin series is strictly necessary quite a few of the secondary characters are from the previous stories and so I think I got a lot more from Zach and Micah’s interactions with them because I’d read the earlier stories. That said, I think I’d classify Zach and Micah’s romance story as being a stand-alone, but the world and wider range of characters really is part of the larger series as a whole. I enjoyed seeing the progress the township had made and it was like a quick catch-up with old friends seeing how the many other characters were progressing.

Zach and Micah’s romance was fast-paced and very sexy. There’s a bit of conflict which I personally felt was a little clichéd – albeit very understandable. I enjoyed seeing Zach and Micah face and conquer their personal concerns and demons and find a way to settle together and start a loving and trusting relationship. The sex was hot and explicit and I feel readers who like a bit of spice in their erotic romance should find it very satisfying.

A quick, hot read this is a great addition to a very good series.

Christmas carols played softly in the background. The scent of spiced cider perfumed the air. Shoppers munched happily on gingerbread cookies and perused the bookshelves for that perfect gift.

Dr. Jenna Stockton imagined ripping the halo off the angel’s head and choking her with it. Instead, she reached deep within herself for patience and managed to find a smile for the costumed character behind the bookstore counter. “If I could speak with your manager, please?”

“She’s awfully busy.”

Jenna thought of the ridiculous length of her own to-do list as she fought to keep her smile from turning into a sneer. “Yes, well, it’s that time of year, isn’t it? Your manager?”

The little angel gave a haughty sniff, and then said, “If you’ll step out of line, please?”

Without missing a beat, the angel turned a bright smile toward the woman waiting behind Jenna. “I’m so sorry for this unfortunate delay, ma’am. I’ll be as quick as I possibly can.”

Jenna didn’t snarl like a rabid dog. She didn’t. She smiled at the woman behind her in line. Sweetly. Without canines.

The woman and the four people behind her each gave Jenna an annoyed glower. She gave them all a smile too, then reached for the nearest book, which she pretended to read until the clerk returned, accompanied by a fifty-something woman dressed like an elf. The angel gestured toward Jenna and said, “This is the one, Ms. Thomas.”

The elf spoke in a harried tone. “May I help you?”

“I hope so.” Especially considering that I went out of my way to support a local business rather than ordering online. Jenna set down the paperback. “I placed a special order two weeks ago and someone from this store called me last week to tell me it was in. However, your … angel … can’t find it in your computer system, so she insists I’m mistaken.”

“Do you have your receipt?”

“Not with me, no.”

“Well, if you’ll come back—”

“I don’t have time to come back. I ordered the books for an event that begins”—Jenna checked her watch—“in forty-five minutes. I’d like you to check your stock room. My name is Jenna Stockton.”

“Ms. Stockton, I can’t—”

“I ordered thirty copies of New Adventures in the Christmas Angel Waiting Room.”

“Oh.” The manager pursed her lips. “Oh. I recall that order.”

Then the manager winced. Uh-oh. Maybe not so good. Jenna drew a deep, calming breath, then asked, “If you will get it for me, please?”

“Oh dear.”

Jenna closed her eyes.

“I’m afraid we had some internal miscommunication. We sold out of our stock of that particular title and an employee unfortunately failed to notice the hold notice on your order. She put them on the shelf.”

“How many are left?”

“It’s a popular title,” the manager hedged.

Jenna leaned forward. “The books are for pediatric cancer patients at Children’s Hospital. The Christmas party is at four o’clock.”

“Oh dear,” the manager repeated. “Four o’clock you say?”

Jenna nodded curtly.

“I’ll call our distributor. If you can stop back by—”

“You’ll need to deliver them directly to the hospital. To the attention of Dr. Jenna Stockton.” She removed a card from her purse and handed it to the manager. “Here’s the address. Take them to the information desk in the lobby. I’ll tell the volunteers working there to expect them.”

“But we don’t have a delivery—”

Jenna folded her arms and gave the manager her best take-no-prisoners look.

“I’ll do my best to have them there by four, Dr. Stockton. I apologize for the inconvenience. Now, is there anything else I can help you with? I saw you looking at the new Liza Holcomb thriller.” She picked up the book and handed it to Jenna. “It’s a fabulous book. Scariest stalker story I’ve read in years.”

Jenna quickly returned the book to the display table. A stalker story? That was all she needed. “No, thank you. All I need today is what I ordered. Thank you for the help. You have my phone number. I trust if there is any further problem, you will give me an immediate call?”

“Yes. Of course.”

“Perfect. Merry Christmas, Ms. Thomas.”

“Merry Christmas to you too, Dr. Stockton.” The manager gave her a bright smile that didn’t quite hide the worry in her eyes.
Jenna headed for the door, glancing over her shoulder before pushing it open. The elf was on the phone, the angel had been replaced at the register by a reindeer, and Frosty the Snowman was on hands and knees beside the urn of mulled cider wiping up a spill. She sighed. Angels with attitude aside, she liked this little store. She really hoped they didn’t let her and the children down.

Whether the tale is Hansel and Gretel or Little Red Riding Hood or even Chicken Little, she jumps into the story to save its hapless characters from doing some dangerous or silly thing. Now it’s the little red chicken’s turn to tell a story, but will her yawning papa make it to the end without his own kind of interrupting? Energetically illustrated with glowing colors—and offering humorous story-within-a-story views—this all-too-familiar tale is sure to amuse (and hold the attention of ) spirited little chicks.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the most common form of sexual disorder where a person finds it quite helpful in treating sildenafil tab their disorder within them. Everyone knows that interrupting someone else is rude, but not everyone is good at stopping this habit once it is formed.

This story had a fantastic sense of humor. I couldn’t help but to laugh every single time the little red chicken interrupted one of the fairy tales her father was reading to her in order to warn the characters about what would happen to them next. She felt she had good reasons for the choices she made, but she also struggled to understand why her father didn’t appreciate her antics.

The ending felt abrupt to me. While I appreciated the fact that Mr. Stein took such a creative approach to how this evening ended for his characters, I would have preferred to see them spend some more time finding a resolution for the problem they were facing. This is something I’d want to discuss with a preschooler after reading it to make sure they understood how it ended and why it ended that way.

The message of this tale was clear, but it was never heavy-handed. I respected the fact that the author trusted his audience to understand what he was trying to say. This was even more important to me than the narrator’s ability to find the funny side in what can be a very annoying habit. Including such a lighthearted approach to the author’s message meant that I’d be happy to read this over and over again.

Interrupting Chicken should be read by anyone who has ever felt the irresistible urge to speak up before someone else is finished talking.

A tragic death leads Claire Clairmont to be haunted by her past and the ‘summer of 1816’ she shared with Byron and Shelley in this first in an intriguing new historical trilogy.

1873, Florence. Claire Clairmont, the last survivor of the ‘haunted summer of 1816’ Byron/Shelley circle, is living out her final years in genteel poverty, but the appearance of British tourist, William Michael Rossetti, brings hope that she may be able to sell some of her memorabilia to earn enough cash to support her and her niece/companion, Paula.

But Rossetti’s presence in Florence heralds a cycle of events that links the summer of 1816 – when Claire conceived an ill-fated child with George Gordon, Lord Byron, when Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein, and when four tempestuous lives came together – to a tragic death. As Claire begins to unravel the truth, she must go back to that summer of passion to discover the identity of her old enemy.

One summer changed Claire’s life forever.

Claire is a fascinating character who has never regretted living life on her own terms. She’s impulsive and driven by her emotions. Living with such passion and intensity has brought her joy and sadness. Old age has done little to mellow Claire. She still has a fiery spirit, but when I compare the sections from 1816 to those from 1873, it is clear Claire has learned to think before she acts. I enjoyed getting to know Claire in her youth and maturity.

There is still so much I want to know about Claire and her life. I definitely need to know the fate of Claire’s daughter. I also want to explore Claire’s relationships more, particularly with her stepsister Mary. I found their relationship a bit strange. They spent most of their lives together, but at some point, there was in irreparable rift between them. I’d like to know why. They seemed so close at times, and then at others Mary seemed very insecure about Claire’s friendship with Percy Shelley. Mary’s jealously is completely unfounded in my opinion. Anyone could have seen that Claire only had eyes for Byron.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere that Ms. Ambrose has created. This isn’t a book to race through. Part of the joy in reading it is soaking in all the details of the world around Claire and all the interesting people she’s met. I think it can be a bit difficult to get past viewing Byron and Percy and Mary Shelley solely as giants of literature. However, I think it is important to remember they were real people who loved, lost, and had problems just like everyone else. Ms. Ambrose made them realistic and relatable.

I must say I think the ending is much too abrupt. In fact, it is the sole reason I didn’t give this tale a five-star rating. Much of the book slowly builds tension concerning the mystery of Claire’s daughter and how it connects to a tragic incident in Claire’s present. I relished trying to discern which events in 1873 had roots in 1816. It seemed like anyone could be the enemy, and I enjoyed sifting through everyone’s actions and words trying to discover any hidden motivations. All of a sudden it was over. In the space of a few pages several major events were explained in ways I didn’t find particularly satisfying and didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the story. I can only hope the sequel addresses some of my concerns in greater detail.

I am so glad I had the opportunity to read Claire’s Last Secret. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Claire and can’t wait to learn more about her. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a historical mystery to savor.
