Arne was content with her career as a hydrogen rigger, harvesting fuel from Saturn’s clouds for use across the solar system, until two prospectors offered her a job that kindled old desires. She used to be an angel, a guide through the lightless sky beneath Saturn’s clouds, but abandoned that deadly wasteland years ago. Now she returns, taking flight again on cybernetic wings to guide a new prototype through the invisible gale of the liquid sky. She used to know Saturn’s depths well, but returning ignites old scars, and there is something new and unnatural waiting in the burning air.

Things begin to go sideways when Arne hears a strange voice from out in the void. No one else hears it, and Saturn remains as lifeless and vacant as ever, so Arne forges ahead. She ignores its warnings and descends deeper toward the unknown, but the unknown itself is rising up to meet her. Paranoia and fear bloom in Arne’s mind as the empty sky fills with long buried secrets, casting doubt on the true purpose of the expedition and on her own sanity. Threatened with creeping madness and blocked from escape by her employer’s obsessive ambition, Arne will have no choice but to face the abyss she has spent years trying to forget.

When the wind comes for her and her wings fail her, will she remember why she calls herself an angel?

All Arne has to do is avoid dying on one final visit to a planet that’s haunted her for years. After all, it’s only a suicide mission if you don’t survive, right?

Spaceships are only as interesting as the people inside of them. Luckily, this short story is full of intrigue from the very first paragraph. As soon as I read the premise, I couldn’t wait to find out what happens next. The blurb was a perfectly balanced introduction to the plot that piqued my interest without giving away too much of what happens or overselling the adventurous aspects of it.

This book jumps around from one time and setting to the next. Some of these leaps happened in such rapid succession that they were confusing for me at a few different point in the plot. More than once I wasn’t sure if Arne was remembering something from her past or if she’d somehow narrowly escaped the danger nipping at her heels in the previous scene.

There were so many twists in this adventure that I honestly had no idea what would happen to these characters next. At certain points it felt like I was riding a literary roller coaster, yet everything I learned early about Arne and the people she works for was eventually reinforced by later scenes. The foreshadowing was subtle but it really worked well for the ending the author had in mind.

In the Clear was such an exciting read that I devoured it in one sitting. This is something I’d particularly recommend to anyone who is a fan of hard science fiction. The technological advancements in this tale are almost as fascinating as the characters themselves!

Hidden emotions: Ethan Parker, Mia’s brother’s best friend, is home from deployment for the holidays. Mia’s not only hiding from werewolves, she’s trying to keep her feelings for Ethan secret; it would be a disaster if he knew she’s been nursing a long-time crush…

The power of love: things take a terrifying turn when Mia and Ethan are attacked by a werewolf. Ethan is amazed when Mia reveals her paranormal prowess as she tries to shield them from danger. But can she really protect them from the darkness that lurks? And how can he tell her that, for ages, he’s been denying what he really wants? Mia…

It was supposed to be a simple healing salve.

When Mia agrees to make a healing salve for a mysterious man, she senses there is something different about him. Rather than listening to her instincts, she makes the salve, seeing it as a simple and safe opportunity to practice her magic. Unfortunately, Mia unintentionally wreaks havoc in the werewolf community with her magic, and before she knows it, the lives of her friends and family hang in the balance. Mia must find a way to come to terms with her powers before it is too late.

I definitely felt sorry for Mia and her predicament. Not only is she dealing with angry werewolves and her intense feelings for Ethan, but I also don’t think she’s ever fully embraced her own powers. Mia is basically a doormat. Everyone pushes her around, even her own family. While Mia is unhappy about this, she does very little about it. I have the feeling this has been a pattern in Mia’s life for a long time. I found her behavior very frustrating at first, but as I read, I was very pleased to see Mia take some small steps in developing some self-confidence.

While I enjoyed watching Mia learn to stand up for herself, I must say that I was left wanting much more detail concerning her family history and witchcraft. Ms. Mäkelä indicates that Mia’s grandmother was very powerful, but no one in Mia’s family seems to know anything about the paranormal community. How and when did Mia discover she was a witch? How did Mia connect with her current mentor? Providing these details would have brought the story to life and made it much easier to slip into Mia’s world.

Mia and Ethan spend a lot of time agonizing over their feelings for each other. I found this extremely frustrating because there really weren’t any major obstacles preventing them from having a relationship. Both profess to be worried about how Mia’s family will handle the news, but Mia’s family is loving and very reasonable, and Ethan has been a trusted friend of the family for years. Consequently, this excuse isn’t very compelling. I must also note that this story does contain some graphic language relative to male anatomy as well as some cursing. Readers sensitive to this type of language are forewarned.

Despite these issues, The Witch Who Cried Wolf is a good book. Mia is a sweet character, and the plot is fast paced. Readers looking for a quick, fun read might want to give The Witch Who Cried Wolf a try.

Abel Crochet, a warlock whose beloved witch-wife had poofed, was forced by the Martian Witches and Wizards Guild delegation to give up magic due to his terrible luck of destroying the things he tried to fix…like a whole planets’ ecology. Even the great canals dried up!

The Planet Hepzibah was home to witches, warlocks, ghosts, goblins, demons, poltergeists, necromancers, banshees, nightwalkers, and…well, you get the idea.

Trying to start a new life on Hepzibah, Abel bought the closed down, broken down Heartburn Haven and Taco Take-away, and with no small amount of shenanigans from local workmen, unions, and bump-in-the-night creatures, turned it into a Bar and Grill attempting to serve the best food and drink on the planet.

The adventure begins as Abel attempts to make a profit…and actually stay alive. Two goals that may end up being mutually exclusive.

Abel Crochet, a warlock, is forced to give up magic and relocate from Mars to the Planet Hepzibah. He must start anew without his beloved wife, Mary Mistral, a witch who has poofed. He purchases “a sagging wattle-and-daub structure that, according to this real estate ghoul, had been, by turns, an undertakers parlor, a bootleg aquavit still, a home for wayward nixies, a safe-house for on-the-lam serial assassins. . .and so on and so forth. . .for over three hundred years!” Crochet succeeds in turning this structure into Warlock’s Bar and Grille, fully outfitted with everything a customer could wish for including a cozy Ladies Parlor.

In addition to Crochet, this novel has an abundance of interesting and well-developed characters from a variety of species. I was especially fond of Boy, the werewolf bartender, Chef, the skinny young man who can cook the most sumptuous meals, and Myron the Master Builder. The story moves from episode to episode in the life of a bar and grille. Each episode is loosely connected to the main story line and we learn how Crochet deals with a Rainmaker and then plays host to a gathering of witches. The plot covers a period of over six years in Crochet’s life as the host of his bar and grille, and there is much humor and adventure to be had by all.

The setting for this novel is fully developed and I really felt as if I were on this weird and very interesting planet. Not only is the bar and grille described in rich detail, including all the information about the renovating of the three hundred year old building, but the other parts of the planet come alive as well. The reader learns about ghouls and vampires, witches and banshees, and many other delightful creatures.
Lovers of light-hearted fantasy are sure to enjoy learning all about life on Hepzibah as seen through the eyes of Abel Crochet, Host of Warlock’s Bar and Grille.

Tia’s an intelligent, beautiful woman who’d rather remain on the sidelines of life. Including her sex life — or lack thereof. She used to dream of finding pleasure in a man’s arms, but she knows it’s only fantasy. She’s built different, or she’s broken. Either way, it means she can’t give in to the temptation to be with the man she wants.

Damien’s been attracted to Tia for months, but with their differing schedules, it hasn’t been easy to get close. When the perfect opportunity presents itself, he takes a leap, straight into her arms and straight toward… a lackluster coupling?

Presented with this challenge, Damien pulls out all the stops to ensure Tia has an unforgettable night, and it’ll be the first of many if he has his way. Now that Tia has nowhere to hide, will she give herself over to Damien’s care, or will she run away?

Tia Sinclair is sick of strange men trying to pick her up in various public places simply because she’s alone. Sure, she’s good looking, but it’s starting to get tiring turning them all down. She’s decided to approach a colleague, Dr Damien Rogers to see if he’d be interested in a one night stand. No strings attached. Tia usually is disappointed by sex and in a strangely intimate conversation with Damien she admits so. Damien is eager to prove her wrong and Tia is just attracted enough to the handsome doctor to let him try.

I found it took me a while to warm up to Tia. She tells us in great, vivid detail how hard her life is – being intelligent (she has a PhD) and very good at her job (she’s got several publications and field years behind her) and drop dead sexy. It’s so *very* annoying how men constantly throw themselves at her feet. After a few pages of this I was questioning why on earth she’d decided to approach Damien for a one night stand at all. She has no interest in sex with other men and claims she can take care of her own pleasure perfectly fine on her own. Then when Damien approaches her and she opens her mouth she starts stammering and tripping over her words. It made me question her insistence of how smart she really was. I read very mixed signals from Tia and a big gap between what Tia told us about herself and how she initially acted.

Despite this rocky beginning, the conversation between Tia and Damien did become interesting and when she finally settled enough to discuss matters in more depth Damien became curious and then determined to prove to Tia she wasn’t “built differently” and could experience an orgasm and pleasure through sex with another person. I thought the set up of this situation between Tia and Damien could have been handled a bit more smoothly, but once I read past that to the second half of the story it was really engrossing. Tia is quite a convoluted character under her own arrogance and when Damien had scratched that surface I finally found myself more interested in her. Tia and Damien learn to trust each other, and Damien is determined to prove himself to Tia. They go slow, no hard and fast sex scenes that are over before you can really enjoy them.

I found this second half wonderful in that it showed the complexities of Damien and Tia’s character. They learned and explored together and this added richness to the story in my eyes. It made me glad I had persevered through the beginning when I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy where the story led. There is some very mild BDSM (talk of tying Tia up) and a few surprises, but for the most part this is vanilla erotic storytelling and should appeal to many readers.

“God may not play dice, but Death sure does—and they’re loaded.”

Lucas Helath is back. He’s holed up in a dive just outside the county-line, and just outside the jurisdiction of the L.A. PD. There’s been a murder, several of them actually, and while the DA says he’s innocent, Lucas figures keeping a low profile might be for the best. Of course this means all he has for company is the wise-cracking Imp; a creature Helath is almost certain is a figment of his imagination … almost.

However, problem http://deeprootsmag.org/2015/07/14/south-dakota-puc-to-tribes-drop-dead/ viagra sale canada in relationship occurs when you cannot maintain proper erections during an intimacy. What’s best and what’s smart aren’t always so clear, however, and he’s called back to the city by Sarah Schulman. Her father has been kidnapped and she wants Helath to handle the exchange to get him back. She’s willing to pay good money for his services, too. Helath will do it, not just for the money, but for a chance to get into Sarah’s good graces.

So it’s back to the city where night never ends. All Helath has to do is avoid the mob, the police and the spirits who keep popping up, and rescue Papa Schulman. All without dying, going crazy, or losing his soul in the process.

All Lucas has to do is lay low until everyone who’s looking for him gets distracted by other concerns. Unfortunately he isn’t the kind of person who blends into the background for very long.

Uncovering and piecing together all of the clues about what it really going on was a challenge. Mr. Clark didn’t make it easy for me to solve the mystery before the climax. While I squeaked through with the right answer just before everything was revealed, I was invigorated by how much work it took to solve. This tale is something I’d recommend to anyone who doesn’t mind jumping into a puzzle they might not solve.

It took a little while for me to settle into the plot. While the first several scenes were well-written and necessary in order to understand what was happening, I did find myself wishing for more action in the beginning, but this is a minor criticism of an otherwise engaging adventure.

This is the second story in a series. It can be read as a standalone work though. The most pertinent information from its predecessor, Night Never Ends, is briefly recapped in the first few scenes, and the plot itself is only loosely connected to previous events. I do recommend checking out the first book, though, due to how fascinating it was for this reader to see how Lucas has changed since his last case. The character development was once again quite well done, but a lot of it won’t be easy to spot for anyone who isn’t already familiar with him.

My Gun Sleeps Alone is a wild ride. It’s a great choice for anyone who loves mysteries set in the mid-twentieth century.

Caroline refuses, but as the raids on her family’s lands turn more deadly, Lord John Talbot forces the issue. Caroline continues to attempt to uncover who is behind the raids, and with her unnatural ability to remember details, she intends to see justice done.

Sometimes, it may co-occur with other illnesses like cancer, diabetes or levitra prescription cost cardiovascular diseases. I enjoyed this tale mostly because of the sheer uniqueness of the heroine and her determination to solve an attempted murder mystery. What made this novel so intriguing was not just that fact that she’s nineteen years of age, but that she had to do it amongst the strictures of the times. She’s of noble blood and there are certain things a lady simply cannot do in that day and age. Somehow, the author managed to weave just the right amount of respect for her betters, her mother and the advisors with her tendency to investigate things in her own way. I was able to get a sense of how frustrating it must have been for Caroline to want to know something and being told nothing because back then, women had to be protected from every unseemly act or perceived upsetting information. Caroline refused to be a swooning damsel in distress and sought to prove it at every turn. I’m surprised the hero didn’t end up with gray hair by the end of the book – she was that adventurous.

The tale is mostly told from Caroline’s point of view because she was the one everyone seemed to want to kill. That others died instead, some rather brutally, could not be helped. One thing is for sure – the heroine is intrepid, practically fearless and thinks quick on her feet. It’s a good thing too. Let’s just say that trees are her friends and play various roles in the telling of the story. Her internal dialogue is how a reader follows her growing attraction to the egotistical earl.

For all John’s heroic tendencies, he does come off rather pale in comparison to Caroline. She is a hard act to follow but he stands by her for the most part. The fact that a man must behave in a certain way and is expected to, especially a man in his position, annoyed John to no end because he wanted to throw caution to the wind and act on his impulses. But being an earl, a man of power and well respected, he had to act as decorum dictated. I enjoyed the little moments when he rebelled just that little bit because it made him seem less stiff and more like a man falling in love.

The villains of the piece were more like nipping dogs. They caused no end of grief, they couldn’t be caught and the leader of the pack sent his mercenary to do the dirty work. It was interesting to note that Caroline liked to think out of the box, and her doing so propelled the plot onwards to some exciting, if unconventional, adventures.

Secondary characters were many but a few were central to the plot and they played their roles well.

The funniest item in the book was the box. That caused me no end of amusement. The hero on the other hand found it quite vexing. I thought the author clever for adding that in.

Lady Caroline and the Egotistical Earl was vastly entertaining. It might seem to go on a bit longer than perhaps it needed to be but there is no doubt that I enjoyed myself. At one point I just rolled my eyes at Caroline’s antics and thought to myself, ‘not again!’, but I found how all the characters reacted to her incredibly amusing. If this had been a Regency romance, I’d classify Caroline as a true “Original”. The heroine was a hoot and I liked her. The happy ever after wrap up occurred at supersonic speed, but after the mayhem they both survived, it’s perfectly understandable. This isn’t a fast read so make sure you have plenty of time set aside to enjoy Lady Caroline and the Egotistical Earl. It’s worth it.

When the three quite literally collide in the elevator, a miracle happens: she agrees to their proposal. And Stephanie turns out to be the submissive of Dane and Aiden’s dreams. But as she slips deeper under their thumbs, she could be more than either man bargains for.

Warning: This book contains intense bondage scenes between two Doms and their sub. Expect hot masturbation, man on man action, blow jobs, restraints, ben wa balls, nipple clamps, and mind-blowing orgasm denial that will make you weep…

Stephanie never learned how to let go and just enjoy herself, and this is a lesson Aiden and Dane are more than happy to teach her one way or another.

Stephanie’s character is one that intrigued and confused me at times. She clearly has a sense of where she wants her life to be and how she wants to get it. This type of discipline is both admirable and a tragedy in one. The tragic part about it is that she never learned how to enjoy life, she goes through it almost robotically. This is something her bosses clearly pickup up on, so they made a bet to see if she truly knew how to lighten up. In the end she clearly found some pleasure in life, but I still had to question if she figured out how to truly enjoy life and what he has to offer.

Aiden and Dane on the other hand seem to be the well rounded men any girl would dream of. That is if you can overlook the fact that they love one another as much as they love women. They both have very unique personalities, but you can also see many similarities about them as well. Dane is the quiet yet demanding type. You don’t need him to say what he wants, you just know. Aiden seems to be the more outspoken and dominant of the two. Even if Dane considers himself dominant it is clear to me that Aiden just has a little extra push to him. Together these are dangerous men who it is clear to me will get whatever they want, even Stephanie.

The BDSM aspect of this story is prevalent from beginning to end. It is a main driving factor to the storyline, and the relationship of all the parties. I truly enjoyed watching Dane and Aiden dominate each other as well as Stephanie. I have to say however, some aspects of Stephanie’s submission left me feeling a bit concerned. One being that she allowed both men to dominate her so easily and completely. I felt like she should have keep a little bit of herself. Another aspect that left me puzzled was Stephanie’s openly willingness to just accept what they said. For such a forward thinking female who was clearly goal driven she just seemed to submit almost immediately, and was unable to tell them no. Again, it just made me question her mental state and if she should even be in that type of relationship. I can say that the BDSM is complete in the story, and far from light BDSM, which I enjoyed. The author even figured out a way to incorporate some knowledge about the lifestyle, which I appreciated.

The sex in the storyline was amazing. Both men agree to not have sex with Stephanie prior to a long term commitment, but that doesn’t stop them from doing everything else, or sleeping with one another. The scenes in this story had me wiggling around in my seat more than a few times. The sexual tension between all parties is felt immediately and continued to the very end.  A great story, especially if you love some hot scenes!

Regina and Spencer Jacobs had reached a point in their marriage where they were living apart and not really talking. The silence between them grew to the point that something had to give. So, even though Spencer still loved Regina he knew he had to let her go so that they could each find some happiness, if not with each other than with someone else. Spencer could not face Regina so he took the easy way out and left the divorce papers under the door to the house they once shared. He knew that she would not be happy but he knew it was time to move on.

Perfect Fit is the second book in the Singleton Series, the first being Hurricane. The characters of Regina and Spencer are very likable and you could feel the hurt and pain they each are going through but could not vocalize.

I enjoyed the way the characters interacted and the supporting characters like his brother Driscoll helped to round out the story. You knew that there was a lot of hurt and pain between the characters but also intense passion.

Taige Crenshaw is the kind of writer that draws you into her characters and makes you as the reader feel the all the emotions the characters are having. She grabs your interest from the very beginning and spins the kind of story that will keep you reading until the last word is said.

Perfect Fit is like that: an enjoyable read and one that I would recommend.

Realising Eli is his mate, he feels things couldn’t be more perfect…discounting the angry pack Eli left behind. There’s also the insignificant fact that Eli’s not gay. It’s nothing an Alpha wolf can’t handle.

While Eli struggles to understand his feelings for Kellan, an unexpected call for help has everyone on edge. As enemies move in and a horrifying plot is revealed, Kellan and Eli fight back, not only for themselves, but for the fate of all shifters.

Accepting the Alpha is a great shifter story.  It has some great characters and an interesting premise. With suspense and a bit of angst, I found myself completely enthralled with Eli Steele and Kellan Reeves. They are both strong male characters and I loved that they found each other and were willing to work through all the issues that popped up.

Kellan is the kind of Alpha, any pack of shifters would be proud to call their leader, he’s strong, compassionate and willing to do anything for his pack and then man he loves.

Eli is a Beta, which means he’s a protector of his pack. So when he finds himself without a pack, he goes a bit crazy, and even though he’s straight he finds himself insanely attracted to Kellan. I don’t always enjoy “gay for you” stories, but JJ Black does a fabulous job of making this trope work for this story.

I highly recommend this story, because it’s an interesting new world and I’m hoping the start to a new series. I really want to read more books in this world from this author.

It’s been thirteen years since Lucy Sheridan was in Summer River. The last time she visited her aunt Sara there, as a teenager, she’d been sent home suddenly after being dragged out of a wild party—by the guy she had a crush on, just to make it more embarrassing. Obviously Mason Fletcher—only a few years older but somehow a lot more of a grown-up—was the overprotective type who thought he had to come to her rescue.

Now, returning after her aunt’s fatal car accident, Lucy is learning there was more to the story than she realized at the time. Mason had saved her from a very nasty crime that night—and soon afterward, Tristan, the cold-blooded rich kid who’d targeted her, disappeared mysteriously, his body never found.

A lot has changed in thirteen years. Lucy now works for a private investigation firm as a forensic genealogist, while Mason has quit the police force to run a successful security firm with his brother—though he still knows his way around a wrench when he fills in at his uncle’s local hardware store. Even Summer River has changed, from a sleepy farm town into a trendy upscale spot in California’s wine country. But Mason is still a protector at heart, a serious (and seriously attractive) man. And when he and Lucy make a shocking discovery inside Sara’s house, and some of Tristan’s old friends start acting suspicious, Mason’s quietly fierce instincts kick into gear. He saved Lucy once, and he’ll save her again. But this time, she insists on playing a role in her own rescue . . .

This latest romantic suspense from Ms. Krentz is a real page flipper. It has a body count, surprise villains, suspicious activities and through it all, an attraction rekindles and passion explodes into love. It’s the progression of the plot, the dance of the romance and the dynamics between Mason and Lucy that sealed the deal for me. This is a must read.

I liked how Ms. Krentz set the stage for what would eventually take place later in the book. I enjoyed the sleuthing, the methods used and the wrong turns the hero and heroine took in the book. The dialogue was key in getting to know the main protagonists and internal dialogue provided clues as to one of the possible antagonists. I truly was surprised at the revelation and even then, the author had a surprise for me and Lucy. I never saw it coming. When Lucy did figure it out, it was a rather unique way of doing it, which impressed me. I wonder where the author found out about that profession and what inspired her to use it in this book? However it came about, it worked; it was gripping and effective.

Another aspect that is sure to please readers is the spark. When Mason and Lucy finally reach the combustion point it was very steamy. The sexiest scene in the whole book stems from an impromptu Kegel. I’m not sure why that part had me so flustered but it was powerful and very, very hot. Mason made me melt.

Dialogue between Deke and Mason, Lucy and others really contributed to the feel of the story. They talked and chatted like anyone else would, although not too many would be chatting and making jokes of a dead body. You have to read it to understand why that was effective.

I liked how the suspense and drama kept getting tighter and tighter to the point when I knew something had to give. I enjoyed seeing how Mason and Lucy navigated the pitfalls by drawing upon the life experiences that they had as they became the people they were in the story. That showing of growth was very appealing.

The happily ever after made me laugh. As romantic as it eventually became, the dialogue and interaction between Mason and Lucy is chuckle-worthy up until the end when I sighed with satisfaction. I love a good romantic ending.

River Road is great. With a tale written as well as this one, it’s a fast easy read because every chapter provided more clues, more questions and more of everything that makes a book gripping – so much so I had a hard time putting it down. I highly recommend this latest adventure from the clever mind of Ms. Krentz. It’s a winner.
