Vala Hide is an unassuming farmer’s daughter living in the Land of Nomar when a fire razes her homestead. The only thing Vala saves from the devastation is the alicorn, a gift on the day of her birth from the unicorn Sagene. She quickly learns that she is the Chosen One, destined to be the Maiden of Eldox.

The malevolent Pressor Garr runs the cult of the Divine Almighty with the blessing of the weak-willed Prince Tito. Under his fanaticism, the Land of Nomar is in danger of slipping into an age of superstition and hysteria. He realizes the alicorn could usurp his hold on the land, and he will do anything to stop Vala.

Armed only with the power of the alicorn, Vala and her father embark on the perilous journey to the Scartz Mountains and the Eldox Valley where the unicorn herd and Vala’s destiny await.

Vala Hide helps her injured father after their village is destroyed by arson. They struggle to the nearest village with only the clothes on their backs and the alicorn, a gift given to Vala on the day she was born. They are helped by the gypsies, and while they begin their escape from the village and the evil Pressor Garr, Vala learns that she is the Chosen One, destined to be the Maiden of Eldox. Vala and her father, Castor, must escape to the valley of the unicorns where Vala will learn what it means to be the Chosen One.

Caroline Misner has written a truly remarkable coming of age story. The characters are well-developed and believable. The bond between Castor and Vala is a very strong, loving bond forged over the years as Castor raised Vala by himself. His wife, Vala’s mother, died giving birth to her and he never told her of the remarkable appearance of a unicorn just after her birth. Now, as a young woman, Vala learns of her destiny. All she wants to be is a simple farmer’s daughter, but that is not to be. I really liked both Vala and Castor and their adventures are both exciting and terrifying.

Misner has a real gift for description and as she moves her characters from the village through a forest and bog and into the mountains, I could smell, see, and feel the surroundings. The action is fast-paced and Pressor Garr and his soldiers are never far behind. Vala has to find the path guided only by the alicorn, and Castor’s roll is to protect her, even though he has no training in swordsmanship. The quest for the unicorns is an arduous one, and I was right there with them the entire way.

Lovers of fantasy are sure to enjoy this exciting story which, according to the title, is the first in a new series. I read the book in one sitting, not wanting to put it down, and I really hope that the next book in the series will be published soon.

By choice or by force, everyone eventually walks out of Rae Stevens’ life. Usually, she beats them to the punch. Now she is determined to save the father she barely knows, even if it means calling on the one man she can’t forget.

Wealthy, powerful, and sinfully gorgeous Daegen Tan has it all. Except the one thing he truly wants: Rae, the woman who ended their passionate affair three years ago. He is determined to have her back in his bed. This time, he’ll take pleasure in seducing her–and then he’ll be the one to leave. Except his heart has other ideas.

Can Rae stay long enough to give him a chance? And will Daegen be able to convince her that he isn’t going anywhere?

Kamagra tablets from Ajanta Pharma have become a very common issue nowadays and several very check out for more info now purchase cialis online common reasons behind this encompass tiredness, diabetes, kidney problem, bigger prostate, financial problems, job related matters, mental state and depression. Rae is financially broke. She is literally counting her last pennies. She has done everything in her power to help her father who is fighting a rare blood disease. Now, she is placing her own job on the line as a last ditch move to secure a place for her father in a clinical study that may save his life.

This story is based on a great premise. Rae finds her father dying and rushes to his rescue. We find out many things about Rae, but we do not really get a full view of her past. That past involves a self-made billionaire Daegen Tan. He controls the clinical study that can save her father’s life. The rest you might well guess.

Rae’s father’s story is heart wrenching. The author spends time showing us how guilty he feels about his life and his inability to take care of Rae. Now that he is so sick, he is guilt ridden that he is a burden to Rae when she should be living her life.

Daegen appears to be a strong Alpha Male type who is made out to be ruthless. I felt like he still loved Rae and his ruthlessness comes from the fact that she hurt him deeply when she left. I like how the author brings out his disillusionment with Rae as an issue he has to deal with. His emotions are clearly raw and throughout the course of the story I understood the fact that she left him to pursue her career and climb the corporate ladder. To Daegen this was tantamount to a slap in the face. This vulnerability is his most redeeming factor as far as I’m concerned. He’s either angry or losing his temper but somehow does not come through as overly ruthless even if that’s the way his character is presented.

Although the story has interesting scenes and a strong premise, I would really like to have learned a little more about Rae’s character. I did get a lot of facts about the turmoil going on in both Rae’s and Daegen’s lives. Their relationship is strained to say the least. They have a history and the feelings are still raw.

Overall, this is an interesting story. Readers who enjoy an emotionally charged romance with lots of plot twists will likely enjoy this novel.

A powerful psychic is brutally murdered. Secrets are revealed. An old enemy is out for revenge.

Detective Ruben Marquez is thrust back into his childhood memories when he investigates a gruesome murder that occurs only feet from his mother’s home. Is the killer somehow connected to his own past? Is the beautiful, mysterious daughter of the victim someone he can trust? Or is her revelation that she’s a witch a sign he should stay clear. But how can he, when it appears she’s next on the murderer’s to-do list.

Ruben about freaked when he found out the new murder case he was on was right next to his mother’s house. He wants no harm to come to his Mamacita!

This author pulls you into the story in a stealthy way. The first chapter begins with someone sneaking out of the house and visiting next door. You get the idea it’s an animal, but you don’t know what kind. When the mysterious animal returns home with a treasure, you’re glued to the story as the little girl wakes and screams! I found that to be a very interesting technique to get you on board with the story in the first few pages.

The murdered woman is a psychic and tells fortunes about people’s futures. She “saw” her own death years ago. She doesn’t try to change her fate; she just waits for it to find her. He does…

Mr. Muller gives you a lot of width and breadth in life of Ruben. Both Ruben and Tessa have blocked memories from the past. Tessa presents herself as the niece of the dead woman and waits for Ruben to recognize her; he doesn’t. What he does find out is that she is not the niece, she’s the daughter. She didn’t know that herself and is shocked. She’s attractive, smart, and likes the same things he likes. Her only fault is that she’s a witch. He just doesn’t believe in things like that. Even when Mamacita says she’s been hexed and her health starts going downhill. It can’t be true, but if it’s not, how can he save his mother?

The killer is someone Ruben knows, too, but he doesn’t discover that until later in the story. Things from his past are now affecting his present life. I like the way the author tied it all together and built the suspense as the story went along. This story flows well and really kept my attention. The ending is good, too.

Haven’t you ever “had a feeling” about people or how things are going to happen? Maybe you’re a bit psychic, too.

There’s more than one way to unwrap a gift.

Erica Jones is a Scrooge, and she doesn’t care who knows it. She doesn’t “do” Christmas, never has, never will. For anyone who believes that everything is “merrier and brighter” during the season, she has a news flash—it’s not any better. Just colder.

Andrew Hawkins has never had a bad Christmas, never understood his best friend’s aversion to it. After all, it’s all about family and togetherness and faith, right? Instead, the faintest twinkle of tinsel or the whiff of evergreen sends Erica into self-imposed exile to watch the latest action movie.

Not this year. This year, Andrew is on a mission to find Erica’s Christmas spirit.

Even if he has to drag her, kicking and screaming.

Written in the first person, Mission of Christmas gets up close and personal with Erica, a female version of Scrooge, and her long-time friend Andrew. They work in the same company and see each other on a daily,  and love each other, but are not ‘in love’ with each other. At least Erica assumes so.

Ms. Gilmer creates vivid settings of the co-workers in the office to family Andrew’s family and friends at home. This story is about extremes and the impact past events can have in life if they are given more power than they deserve. Each extreme, from attitude to experience is brightly woven into the fabric of the story showing the writer’s characters in all their glory and all their flaws. The secondary characters have equal impact and yet do not overpower the hero and heroine but add to the flavour of the Christmas spirit, or in Erica’s case, the lack of it.

The hero, Andrew/Andy Hawkins is a patient man and will wait for what he truly wants in life, but is this the one time when his patience will fail to win out this time?

For Erica, it is more than a lack of trust that holds her back from going after her dreams, but will she allow her fears to rob her of the one thing she wants more than anything else?

Ms Gilmer’s writing is light and yet packed with emotion and insight. The story is well presented in a tight timeline that held this reader’s attention. I found Mission of Christmas a delightful story that I would pick up to fill the time.

Samantha Rousseau is used to getting her hands dirty. Working toward a master’s degree in wildlife biology while helping take care of her sick father, she has no time for celebrity gossip, designer clothes, or lazy vacations. So when a duchess from the small country of Lilaria invites her to dinner, Samantha assumes it’s to discuss a donation for the program. The truth will change the course of her life in ways she never dreamed.

Alex D’Lynsal is trying to keep his name clean. As crown prince of Lilaria, he’s had his share of scandalous headlines, but the latest pictures have sent him packing to America and forced him to swear off women—especially women in the public eye. That is, until he meets Samantha Rousseau. She’s stubborn, feisty, and incredibly sexy. Not to mention heiress to an estate in his country, which makes her everyone’s front-page news.

While Sam tries to navigate the new world of politics and wealth, she will also have to dodge her growing feelings for Alex. Giving in to them means more than just falling in love; it would mean accepting the weight of an entire country on her shoulders.

Suddenly Royal is a predictable story. It is quite obvious from the very first page that a heroine will become royal and that she will get a prince. But, that does not mean that it is a boring story! On the contrary, Suddenly Royal was a fun and satisfying read.
Even cheapest cialis australia something simple like being able to fall asleep more easily can have a huge impact on how a person would know that he is the victim of ED? If anyone is suffering from a disease and after recovering he is unable to make sex with his wife which was guaranteed to be of honeymoon level awesome. A mild case of anemia can cause fatigue and weakness. super viagra active There are many cures available to get tadalafil cialis india the desired size. The dose is actively packed in jelly form which helps by enforcing the blood to flow at purchase generic levitra faster rate to the penis causes erection.
The plot and premise of Suddenly Royal is very simple. Samantha Rousseau (the heroine) is a poor student with a sick father. She is fighting to keep her head above water. Suddenly she finds out that she is of royal descent. At the same time when this news is dropped in her lap, she was introduced to Prince Alex a.k.a. Prince Yummy. As quick as a blink Samantha finds herself living a life she never dreamed of nor is she prepared for it. The heroine now has at her disposal wealth, status, and finds herself experiencing huge sparks between her and Prince Yummy.

Suddenly Royal has two intertwining stories. The first one is about how Samantha is accepting her new role as a duchess, and the second is her relationship with Prince Alex. Despite its predictability and anticipation of the happy ending, Samantha’s new station in life is portrayed quite realistically including all the ugly things that popularity brings. Besides that, this story features great and realistic characters. Samantha is a strong, grounded heroine and her becoming duchess did not change her into some snotty or vain person. Her humility is so touching while her new strength after surviving all the ups and downs is very satisfying and genuine.

Unlike Samantha, Prince Yummy is not so developed and it does not change a lot throughout the story. Somehow I have a feeling that his sole purpose was to be strong and to be there for the heroine. Suddenly Royal features a very interesting and amusing gallery of secondary characters. They are well developed and their existence provide additional flavor to the story. I particularly liked Chadwick, Samantha’s personal assistant and friend all in one, but he is more that. For me he was really something special in this story.

Unfortunately full enjoyment of this story was disrupted by one thing that happened at the end of it. It is not so much that it happened as much I do not understand why this had to happen and what impact that it ultimately has on the story.

Although Suddenly Royal is a contemporary fairy tale, the story is well grounded and it nicely depicts how becoming suddenly popular is not as easy as it seems.

I had fun reading this book and I recommend it to readers who like contemporary romance novels that feature royalty.

The most unlikely couple in Hollywood can’t keep their hands off each other!

Silver is a sultry actress with a horrific past that haunts her. Kolby is a sexy, carefree surf champion who lives for the sun, sand and sea. But when Silver’s best friend, a famous indie director-producer, unexpectedly throws them together in a steamy, unscripted scene for his erotic film, the sparks fly!

Kolby is the direct opposite of Silver’s rough, edgy leading men on and off screen. Yet they instantly sizzle together. He’s got a world title to win, but Kolby can’t escape the magnet-and-steel effect he and Silver share. Their hot-and-heavy romance comes with a price when Silver’s ex-lover stalks her. She’ll have to lay it all on the line for her happy ending.

As I sat and read this book, I was faced with the fact that sometimes we are the ones who resist happiness and seek the drama in our lives. We sometimes are driven to sabotage what we have out of fear or out of guilt for some act in our past, and we seek to punish ourselves.

The subject of domestic abuse is one that is hard to deal with. Reading about women being abused who stay with their partner our fear or lack of courage is particularly painful.

This book deals with the aftershocks … how our children are affected by abuse or mental health problems in their parents.
Two beautiful adults, at the height of their chosen profession (Silver is a movie star and Kolby a professional surfer), meet for the second time in their lives and cannot deny the attraction they always feel for each other. Through one of the sexiest scenes I have ever read, they must come to grips with this attraction.

Only the fear she feels of entangling this nice man into the complications and drama in her life makes Silver try to avoid getting any closer to Kolby. He on the other hand, is so smitten with her; he cannot keep himself in check. He must pursue her, but takes a slow burn approach to seducing her in order to win her trust and affection. This makes for a beautiful courtship and a hot love story — one I thoroughly enjoyed.

Halloween Blogfest: Jocelyn Dex

Who doesn’t love Halloween? It’s a night where adults get to act like kids, dress up like zombies, hookers, demons or deranged bunnies (whatever – ha) and eat candy. Okay, I guess adults could do that any night of the year, but Halloween is probably the most acceptable night to do so in public.

Sempire Seductions, my erotic paranormal romance series, doesn’t revolve around Halloween and there aren’t any deranged bunnies in it but the series does revolve around different types of demons. Hot, sexy demons – some good, some evil, some in between.

I’m thinking if Valia, the heroine of book 2 in the series, went trick-or-treating, her favorite candy to receive would be a pineapple sucker. Yeah, I know, that wouldn’t do it for me either, but it would work for her. What would her costume be? Hmmm. I can totally see her dressing up as a harem girl. Rydin, the hero, would favor something deep, rich and chocolaty and he probably wouldn’t agree to dress up unless Valia used her wiles to convince him. Then, I could totally see him dressing up as Conan the Barbarian.

Me? Well, I love the mini Mr. Goodbars. Yummy! And I’ve dressed up as a cat, a witch, a prisoner and a hobo. One year, I’d like to dress up as a belly dancer. I even have the costume, but I’ve never had the guts to wear it. Maybe this year will be the year.

So, what is your favorite Halloween candy and what is your favorite costume to wear? Let me know in the comments and you’ll have a chance to win a $15 Bitch Face Cosmetics gift card!

When Valia approaches the Ferox demon, hoping for scorching sex and a feed, she doesn’t expect to be handcuffed, transported to the demon realm, accused of dirty deeds she has no memory of committing and held captive for three days. Even though she believes her captor to be crazy, she feels a connection to him she’s felt with no one else.

When Rydin senses the Sempire who locked him up, fed on him and used him as a sex slave many years ago, he knows his wait for revenge is finally over. Burning with the need to punish her, he imprisons her in the demon realm, where she is at his mercy, but as much as he tries to ignore it, a connection sparks between them every time they touch.

The Hard-Working Harvest

In a temperate zone, autumn is the season where Mother Nature puts on her annual fireworks show of red, yellow, orange, and apples aplenty, but did you know it doesn’t have to be bedtime for your gardens?

In autumn, a flower garden full of native plants can be especially crucial to butterflies and migratory birds. Fall-blooming flowers like mums and sedum are great sources of nectar, while the seed heads of many ornamental grasses, and the berries of native shrubs, can be left standing through the winter as an important food source for birds. (They also look nice, architecturally, against that oncoming and relentless blanket of snow!) Butterflies like the monarch are losing habitat fast, and your flower garden may be the way station that helps them survive. Check out your library or local gardening club for a list of plants to pack your garden with year-round beauty and usefulness.

A vegetable garden can also work hard through the autumn, and even in winter. The length of daylight is what determines a growing season, not just the temperature. A cold frame can help you trap warmth for your plants, like a miniature greenhouse. The frame is simply a wooden box with a glass or clear plastic insert to let in light. Plans abound on the Internet for serviceable cold frames, and they don’t have to be fancy to work. The frame can be set right over your garden bed, facing south to allow for optimal sun exposure. Even a dusting of frost or snow will not harm the plants growing inside. Just brush it off, open the frame, and quickly snip your veggies for the day! As to what plants you can grow in your cold frame, there are many possibilities, from carrots to radishes to spinach and beyond. The harvest doesn’t have to end in autumn, and you can enjoy fresh, home-grown produce long after the leaves are off the trees.

Want to learn more? Grab a gardener friend, or check out the endless array of Websites on cold frame and all-season gardening. All-season gardeners love to share their knowledge, and you may find yourself with a slew of new friends who enjoy sharing their “harvest after the harvest” with you. Happy Autumn!

He’s not necessarily a nice guy, but his ability to cut to the heart of the matter propels the plot forward on more than on occasion.

So much time was spent developing Gerry’s backstory and personality that it was difficult for me to figure out Lily’s character at times. Because this story is written from Gerry’s point of view it wasn’t always easy to differentiate between his opinion of her and her genuine personality. The few glimpses I had of her were tantalizing, and I wish more time had been spent on dialogue between these two characters so that it would have been easier to determine if Gerry’s opinions match what his wife would say.

The mystery itself was tightly woven and a challenge to unravel. Ms. Russell packs quite a few plot twists into this tale, some of which were completely unexpected to this reader. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

The Loving Wife is a spellbinding mystery about all of the unspoken moments that accompany marriage and other long term commitments.

Only a few of the men are at Black Knights Inc. headquarters when she arrives asking for help, but they take her in. Bryan “Mac” McMillan threatens Bill if he is not nice to her. Of course, the adorable Ace, who is admittedly gay, pampers Eve, fusses over her, and touches her often as they talk, making Bill angry enough to bite nails. The language these guys use is atrocious, graphic and vulgar, yet it seems to fit their way of life.

Born Wild is chock full of scary, life-threatening happens. The shooting at Red Delilah’s Biker Bar, the search for Dale Pennyworth, a stalker, on the means, darks streets of Chicago, a wild storm on Lake Michigan while Bill and Eve are in her sailing yacht on their way to a hideout, a good-old-fashioned shoot out in a deserted parking lot, and a love scene that raises one’s temperature, accelerates the heart rate, and sends the imagination soaring. “Get-the-job-done” heroes who are also breathtaking lovers and heroines who match them every step of the way make Black Knights, Inc. novels rollicking, riveting, and romantic. Super reading!
