When joined together, Cinderella’s slippers grant the wearer her heart’s desire. But whose wish will be granted?

When Cinderella’s glass slipper is stolen, Queen Felicia sends her faithful steward Terrance to the real world to retrieve his love and witch-in-training, Bianca Frost. The power of the glass slipper in the wrong hands could ruin peace in Everafter. Bianca must gather every bit of magic she has learned in the past few weeks to find the slipper and protect her new love. Together, Bianca, Ming, Prince Ferdinand, and Terrance venture deep into the heart of Everafter to seek clues as to who has stolen the slipper and why. Along the way, they uncover what happened to the Seven Dwarves after Snow White married the prince, but also learn the awful risk of tampering with black magic and the high price that must be paid for magical aid, even when used for good.

Bianca and Terrance’s relationship is put to the test. Through the pain of suffering and loss, Bianca must determine if following her gallant boyfriend into his faraway world is in fact her heart’s desire.

What if “happily ever after” isn’t really the end?

She has done more than simply rework an old folktale for a modern audience. She shows readers what happened to Snow White, Cinderella, the seven dwarves, and many other favorite characters after their stories were recorded. Did they truly live “happily ever after?” As a huge fan of fairytales, my curiosity was piqued. I dove into Glass Frost, eager to join Bianca on her latest adventure into the beautiful yet dangerous world of Everafter, a place where happy endings aren’t guaranteed.

I grew to care about Bianca in First Frost, so reading Glass Frost was like spending time with an old friend. I strongly recommend reading First Frost before this book in order to have a better understanding of Bianca, her family, friends, and the land of Everafter. Bianca definitely begins to realize just how strong she is in this tale. She faces some very difficult choices and I’m pleased to say that she handles them extremely well. Bianca is only seventeen, but she can’t afford to simply live in the moment. She has to consider the future and what sort of witch she wants to become because magic, even good magic, comes with a price. Her maturity, strength, and desire to protect those she loves and put their needs before her own are very admirable, but what makes Bianca an even more realistic character is her fear. There is no shame in being afraid, and Bianca has the good sense to be more than a little apprehensive of what she might encounter in Everafter. She perfectly demonstrates the meaning of courage by doing what she needs to do even though she is frightened.

I enjoyed watching Bianca and Terrance grow even closer in this romance. Their relationship is more than a little complicated since they literally live in two different worlds, giving the term “long distance” a whole new meaning. Bianca again faces a tough choice. Is she willing to leave everything she knows behind and join Terrance in Everafter?

Bianca isn’t the only character growing and changing in Glass Frost. Prince Ferdinand is back and more entertaining than ever. In First Frost, Ferdinand struck me as a slightly self-absorbed, but good humored young man always up for an adventure. In this installment of the series, Ms. DeJesus reveals some different sides of Ferdinand. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that he can be serious and thoughtful. He even puts his charismatic nature to good use in some delicate negotiations with some bad tempered fairies. I think Ferdinand has what it takes to be a great king someday.

There are so many things to love about Glass Frost. The characters are compelling and unique and the land of Everafter is absolutely breathtaking. I sincerely hope Ms. DeJesus continues Bianca’s saga because I’d love to visit Everafter again.

Brenda wants the same happiness her six sisters have, but she doubts she’ll ever find it. Unlike most women, she prefers jeans to dresses and heels, dislikes makeup, enjoys working on cars, and she’s active in sports. The men in her life have always acted as big brothers.

But when Jake Dresden, a racecar driver, steps into her life, she notices he is different. His kindness and gentleness, in addition to his handsome looks, jumpstart her heart and rev her hormones. The way he gazes at her and treats her is out of the ordinary. Could she have met the man who will complete her?

I really appreciated how the author portrayed her as intelligent but simple and down to earth and woman who can be at ease with the boys talking auto mechanics as well as being their friend.

Her longing for a family of her own now that all her sisters have found significant others is very human. She is at the point in her life where those longings are starting to call to her. Meeting Jake is an event in her life. The instant attraction between them paves the way to their whirlwind romance.

My only regret is how short this story was. It is an enjoyable, easy going read about two people who meet and fall in love. No hysterics, no dramatics, no conflict just two people who recognize they should be together and want to spend the rest of their lives just so.

The sleepy English locality of Middletown is about to get even sleepier, as a strange malady starts to affect the population. It spreads quickly, causing the authorities to quarantine this small city, and seek out the only person who might be able to help: Doctor Andrew Strauss. However, Strauss has a secret, one that has linked him to this place all his life, one that has linked him to a particular person there, though he doesn’t yet know who. But he’s not the only one hiding things – and as he ventures into Middletown to collect samples with an army escort, a mixture of UK and US troops, cracks soon begin to appear in the operation. Especially when his team come up against the most terrifying threat humankind has ever known…

Dr. Strauss is about to visit a quarantined city in the hope that he can develop a treatment for the highly contagious, mysterious aliment that has struck every man, woman, and child who lives there. The problem is that he has to work closely with someone on this assignment who has every reason to distrust him.

The vivid descriptions of what is happening to the residents of Middletown paint such a horrifying picture of the changes they’re undergoing that I nearly jumped out of my skin when a piece of my hair brushed against my neck as I read that scene. Every assumption I’d made about what was actually happening in Middletown was thrown out the window as Dr. Strauss begins collecting samples and attempting to find a cure.

This story was not marketed as a romance in any way, so I was quite surprised to meet characters in a love triangle. Their conflicted feelings about their predicament are not central to the main plot and there are no sex scenes, but the love triangle was mentioned often enough that I briefly wondered if the publisher had mislabeled this book. It would have been helpful for me if the blurb hinted at this particular subplot as it is not one of the traditional tropes of the horror genre.

Mr. Kane ultimately had good reasons for including the scenes that initially confused me, though. By the climax he weaves all of the subplots together in ways I never would have predicted they would fit. The final glimpse of this world was the perfect capstone to this eerie, rule-bending tale.

Sleeper(s) kept me up late last night. I’d recommend this book in particular to readers who love techno-thrillers and science fiction that is heavily influenced by current scientific knowledge.

Eleven year-old Ennara Gaern has a serious grudge against the dragon on her right hand.

Born with a mask that foretold magical powers, she was immediately inked with the fiendish, fire-breathing tattoo that forces her to study boring texts, cover her hand continuously, and worst of all, keeps her from visiting the beautiful capital city, Dordonne. But her quiet life changes when one night she is attacked by a shadowy demon.

Tork, an old friend and wizard, is enlisted to help. But when he arrives, he informs Ennara’s parents that she is her world’s only hope of finding the legendary Sword of Gisilfrid, which is needed to destroy the curse that is creating the demons. Ennara doesn’t want to leave on the dangerous quest, but when she learns the curse threatens her world, she reluctantly agrees.

The Treatment viagra cialis levitra Options The treatment options that are available involve several different routes.
Ennara and the wizard begin a perilous journey to the Sunken City, pitting them against dangerous oceans and pirates intent on claiming Ennara’s magic as their own. With only her friends at her side, including the intelligent, aquatic cat Smoos, Ennara must defeat monsters guarding the sword and servants of the Fallen Druid. When her world is covered in darkness, will she know how to dispel the curse?

Angela Myron has created a magical land — and a caul-born girl who has been trained in the technical aspects of magic by her aunt, but has never actually used her magic. It’s also the law that she is tattooed with a mark showing her magical status.

She is forced to go on a journey to retrieve the means to protect her land from the shadespawn, shadowy demons that threaten to destroy anything.

Let me just say that I love Ennara. She’s thrust into a situation she’s not sure she can handle, but she does what she needs to do and along the way learns some very important lessons, as do the friends who travel with her. After the wizard who accompanies them is stricken, the children are left on their own to complete the mission.

The world building is well done and there are some very funny moments as Ennara begins to learn how to control her magical skills (love the Zombie Chickens!). I’m very glad that this is only the first book of the series and I’m looking forward to reading the following books.

In the five years since Julia last visited her aunt and uncle’s home in Malibu, her life has been turned upside down by her daughter’s death. She expects to find nothing more than peace and solitude as she house-sits with only her dog, Bonnie, for company. But she finds herself drawn to the handsome man who oversees the lemon orchard. Roberto expertly tends the trees, using the money to support his extended Mexican family. What connection could these two people share? The answer comes as Roberto reveals the heartbreaking story of his own loss—a pain Julia knows all too well, but for one striking difference: Roberto’s daughter was lost but never found. And despite the odds he cannot bear to give up hope.

Set in the sea and citrus-scented air of the breathtaking Santa Monica Mountains, The Lemon Orchard is an affirming story about the redemptive power of compassion and the kind of love that seems to find us when we need it most.

The romance bloomed due to Roberto and Julia both losing their daughters five years before–Julia’s daughter, Jenny, to death–a possible suicide–and Roberto’s daughter, Rosa, being literally lost in the desert as they tried to reach the US. This creates a bond that surpasses the differences in their backgrounds. Julia is the niece of Roberto’s boss and she’s housesitting while her aunt and uncle are in Ireland.

The strongest part of the story is the mystery about what happened to Rosa. The detail Ms. Rice goes into and the research she has done on illegal border crossing is evident.

The character development is beautifully done– not only the main characters but the secondary characters as well–even the ones that are not present such as Julia’s aunt and uncle. I would love to read their story. I would also like to see more of Jack Leary, the retired border control officer who plays such a large role in solving the mystery of Rosa’s disappearance.

Told in first person from Julia’s perspective and in third person from other characters’ perspectives, The Lemon Orchard is an easy book to read and get involved in.

With the help or her best friend Renee and the dangerous but charismatic Kellen Murphy, Eden sets out to resolve her doubts and unravel the mysteries.

The plots and twists in this book made it a very enjoyable read and kept me entertained until the last page. I could see the sparks flying between the characters Eden and Kellen, both anger and attraction. When the two were together the tension revved up to high power, but when distance separated them Eden became a shadow of the woman Kellen knew.

Could Eden’s twin betray her and take a stand with their father? Eden has always been able to count on Max but when they reach their eighteenth birthday, her brother appears to be working to a different agenda.

One thing that confused me was the difference between the Snow Panther Leap and the Norms. At first I thought the Norms were ordinary humans but as the story progressed it appears they are also shape shifters but I couldn’t clarify the difference between the Norms and the Snow Panther Leap. I wonder if this was intentional, but if so it softened the impact of the story by not defining how the difference affected both sides.

As the series progresses I believe it will get stronger and stronger. On the whole this is a good paranormal book and I will be looking out for the second in the series.

Becky Jordan has had it with relationships. From now on her time and dedication won’t be lavished on her latest Mr. Wrong—or, worse, Mr. Hell-No!—just the dream travel job which has unexpectedly leapt into her lap. Finally, life is looking great.

Unfortunately, not as great as her sizzling-hot, take-charge new boss. Matt Frobisher is everything she doesn’t want him to be, but if anyone thinks she’ll risk her career on a workplace fling they can think again. No amount of Superman behaviour from him will make her roll over and play Lois.

At least, that’s what her head says. Her heart, however, doesn’t do logical. In desperation she finds herself a Mr. Distraction, one with no strings and plenty of appeal. But Mr. Distraction also comes with unforeseen complications. Kryptonite complications, like Becky’s sister. And when she shows up there’s only one sure thing: not even Superman can prevent the Disaster Fest that’s about to blow Becky’s life apart.

Nearly drowning in the pool, bleeding everywhere, I thought for sure this book began at the end of story. Not so … it was really the beginning of a remarkable love story. Mr. Chocolate Voice himself (as Becky nicknames him) was there to save the day and Becky’s life. The author’s description of how his voice calmed her as Becky was coming back from almost drowning; how his body cradled her and warmed her; and finally how his hands caressing her arms continued to assure her everything was going to be fine, had me hooked to this story right away.

By chance or Fate, Becky’s new boss Matt is Mr. Chocolate Voice. Awkward? You bet and so begins the love story and the story of how Becky finally gets control of her life.

Matt is everything you could want in a man. However, something must be wrong if, at his age, he is still known as a one-night-stand man around the office. His relationship with Becky slowly evolves into something with promise to a future.

I really enjoyed the characters who are Becky’s best friends. They are uniquely real and human. From Jim with his off the wall humor, to Liz with her single-minded focus with work, to Dani and her somewhat selfish and sophisticated vision of life, they serve to paint the environment in which Becky survives.

The Casino Night in Dublin with all the expectations and derailed emotions was very powerful. Anyone who has been through a confrontation, misunderstanding, etc. will empathize with Becky and her inability to stand for herself. Her immediate desire to just run and disappear is very human and understandable.

This was a very enjoyable read, full of emotion and also thought provoking. It carried the theme throughout that you need to know and love yourself before you can love someone else. Becky has to come to grips with who she is and what she wants out of life, so she can stand for herself and for the man she loves.

“The Case of the Villainous Vaudevillian” – Who killed Raymond Rice, dastardly star of The Perils of Polly Pure?

“The Case of the Silver Suspect” – A mysterious man, covered in silver, is found murdered.

A trio of whimsical stories of murder most foul featuring the detective team of Ferguson and Stone.

There’s no such thing as a perfect crime. Or is there? It’s easy to jump to conclusions while investigating crime scenes that are short on clues, but it takes a real expert to separate truth from fiction.

As the name suggests, probiotics are gut bacteria that is extremely helpful for people fighting cheapest cialis without prescription with erectile dysfunction and not any other issue. These tales are connected through the detective team who attempts to solve them. This was a unique way to bind together stories that otherwise had nothing in common, and I would have truly enjoyed reading a few more mysteries in this collection.

“The Case of the Murderous Mermaid” starts out with a strong, intriguing premise. Miranda had good reason to murder her employer, but she insists that she’s innocent. It’s up to the investigators to weasel out the truth. I figured out the solution at the last minute, and while it was clever I was never sure how a particular feat would have worked out logistically. The author’s description of how it was supposed to have happened never quite gelled together for me.

I had no idea who the killer was in “The Case of the Villainous Vaudevillian”until the final reveal. Once again the set up was memorable, but I didn’t understand why one of the characters made the choices he did when there were easier ways to accomplish his goals. Getting to know the flashy actors in this piece was amusing, but it was hard to overlook such obvious alternative solutions in the meantime.

“The Case of the Silver Suspect” was by far my favorite of the three. Mr. MacRae’s creativity and attention to detail fleshed out the the identity of the silver man as soon as Ferguson and Stone visit his body at the morgue. If I was rating the entire book on this entry alone it would be a 4 star story, and had the number of witnesses been reduced so that more time could be spent explaining their motivations for certain behaviours it would have easily earned 5 stars.

It would have been helpful to learn more about Sgt. Ferguson and Detective First Grade Kelly Stone’s personalities, interests, and backstories. Despite being featured in all three stories I learned almost nothing about either one of these characters. The few details I did pick up whetted my appetite for more, though, and I sincerely hope that the author will write more mysteries for these men to solve.

The Case of the Murderous Mermaid and Other Stories is a solid example of the contemporary mystery genre. I hope that this is the first glimpse into a long-lived and successful series, and it is the kind of work that I’d recommend to long-term and brand new fans of this genre alike.

YUM! Those Ferro brothers are definitely worth the trouble. In Stripped, we have Jon, the last of the brothers trying to hang on to his inheritance. Jon is very progressive in his thinking of how he would like to use his fortune. One caveat, he has a reputation as a player (with cause) and his mother still keeps a sharp eye on him. As long as she feels he is not hurting the Ferro legacy or the Ferro reputation, he can do as he pleases. Unfortunately, Jon has a knack for getting in trouble or trouble just finds him.

Enter Cassie Hale into his life – nothing will ever be the same. Cassie is young, innocent and still a virgin when they first meet. She is a strong female character. She has set her goals in life and you cannot but hope she will achieve them. I love how she respects herself and sets boundaries that Jon must respect.

The story later picks up these characters three years after they first meet. Circumstances are very different now for both Cassie and Jon. Cassie is hiding and working as a stripper to elude her deadbeat husband. She has been forced to this type of work and is doing the best she can with it.

Once Jon is back in Cassie’s life, nothing will be the same. I love how the author presents Jon’s character with a conscience but a streak of recklessness.

As with other H. M. Ward’s novels, this is a page-turner. This is book #1 of the Stripped series. I am anxiously awaiting book #2.
