Archaeologist Sheppard Smyth has staked his career as well as the memory of his deceased wife and partner on proving his widely-panned theory: Cleopatra VII, the last ruler of Ancient Egypt, was murdered. When a statue of the doomed Queen is discovered in an Olmec excavation site, Smyth is drawn to Mexico to investigate and, hopefully, find the proof that has evaded him for so long. Soon, he finds himself in the middle of the rivalry between the sexy, bewitching international thief, Victoria Kent, and commanding, ruthless Russian mobster, Dmitri Kronastia.

Both Dmitri and Victoria hold pieces to the puzzle that will finally shed light on Cleopatra’s death. As Shep is drawn further into their world of ancient gods, supernatural powers, and alternative history, little does he know that the fate of all—even humanity itself—may hinge on his ability to discover the truth among their fragmented claims. Working to decode the true past while attempting to save the future, Shep becomes a pawn in the hands of forces working out a quest older than the pyramids—a quest that may lead to the end of everything when it all comes together on 12.21.12.

Sheppard Smyth, driven in part by sorrow and in part by the derision of colleagues, desperately wants to uncover the truth about Cleopatra’s death. Was it murder? Proving it would be more than a feather in the cap of this incredibly earnest archeologist and a more than appropriate memorial for his wife. The question was, after all, what they had been working on; in fact, she had discovered something he had still not. And – annoyingly – a couple other people seem to have uncovered facts about his (His!) find, as well. He’s not only on a journey; he is in a race.

In 12.21.12, alternative history twines with supernatural powers from the far distant past. Establishing Archeological ties between Cleopatra’s dynasty in Egypt and the Olmec Civilization in Mexico’s jungles will lead to the most important clue to the past – and possibly to the future. Sheppard is a stubborn man. He may also be a particularly clever and insightful archeologist, but stubbornness will help him most. He often falls back on that; in sorrow, in desperation, even in danger; when he doesn’t know what to do, he keeps on and on, doing what he does. The possible water supply outage in more helpful tabs tadalafil tablets 20mg an extended period of time which helps you in satisfying your partner on bed because the inability of getting erection? That very human failing keeps him real; makes his increasing desperation understandable. And, somehow, it helps him doggedly persevere.

Others, on much the same quest, seem to have far less noble motivation. After all, archeological objects are often worth a small fortune. Just one of the people interested in his discoveries – a thief…or is the “assistant” named Victoria – is far too hot for him to handle, or so he continues to remind himself. He has to stay true to his task…but of course, their goals overlap and so do other rather more personal interests.

Various other characters, like the ultimately wonderful Hector Gonzales, evil Dmitri and others are a shade stereotypical; part of the background, to some degree. However, there are really no ‘hieroglyphics’ on the wall here: unpredictable is the name of the game. Warnings about the future combine with the dramatic backdrop, from the rugged roads and hurricane shelters to the sand-encrusted dig sites. The overall complexity increases with of a number of characters and motives.

Ultimately, everyone’s fate might be in the hands long lost to the past. The quest may well uncover a future event, while trying to prove out what happened before.

12.21.12 cleverly combines a powerful plot with strong main characters for a real page-turner, no matter what genre you prefer. It’s the best of mystery, combined with that character-building sense of tragedy, all overlaid with the promise (or is that ‘threat’?) of romance. Well done and incredibly readable.

The Pranic: Not Your Run of the Mill Vampire

We’re all familiar with vampires and their penchant for human blood. But I’d like to introduce you to a different type of vampire found on Vampire Island: the pranic.

Being a fledgling Pranic can be every bit as dicey as being a blood vampire. Pranics gain their power by absorbing other humans’ energy. Since it brings about a larger than life feeling of power and a sharp rush of energy, it’s difficult for a new Pranic to stop once he or she has started absorbing energy from someone. If they aren’t careful they can literally suck the life right out of another human by sapping them of every last drop of energy in their body.

A seasoned Pranic is aware of the delicate balance and just takes the amount he/she needs. It’s much easier and less noticeable if he/she does a little crowd hopping, drawing from one human then moving on to another, till he/she is satiated.

Taking energy from humans is not necessary for a Pranic to survive but it increases their power and also helps them heal, not to mention it’s an unbelievable rush. Like their counterparts, as Pranics mature their skin becomes more sensitive to light. Their sleep cycle changes and they have difficulty functioning in the daytime. Pranics can do great good or great harm.

Rowan Avery Walker is planning to surprise her husband after ten years of marriage. On their anniversary she decides to enact one of his most desired fantasies, and there’s no traditional night out on the town for this couple. She’s no stranger to role play, and when it comes to bedroom pleasures she likes to walk on the wild side. Ryder has never loved his wife more, and has a feeling that it’ll be a night to remember. Starting off with unique gifts that peak his curiosity, his suspicions are confirmed when they pull up to their favourite members-only club. Where desire lives, fantasies are enacted, and the words Leather and Pleasure take on a whole new meaning. Rowan makes it an anniversary he’ll never forget.

Leather and Pleasure was my second introduction into the female dominatrix theme, which I found to be so hot that the air conditioner had a hard time cooling me off. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy an alpha female type story because personally, I am more of an alpha male kind of girl in the BDSM scene.

I don’t read many short stories but had to get this one because I think that Jennifer Labelle is a brilliant new writer and I fell head over heels in love with her first published book. As you can guess, I wanted to see if she had the same wild imagination and writing skills in this book. cialis uk http://www.midwayfire.com/documents/07Prevention%20Form%20023%20Process%20and%20Procedures%20for%20Fireworks%20Sales.doc The question that is asked very commonly is whether this claim is true or not. What I found between the pages was definitely arousing and hot enough to melt chocolate. The dialogue and smart-ass comments that I loved in her first book were definitely present in Leather and Pleasure. The unique plot was more of a cute play on BDSM and not hardcore. There was teasing and just down to earth sexual play for the three characters.

Over all, Ms. Labelle did an amazing job in writing a nice detailed story with several twists I didn’t see coming. One of the author’s strong points in creating an entertaining tale is her skill in dropping in a new twist or two in the plot that has a way of surprising you when they play out. I loved reading this book and came away with a huge smile on my face just thinking about Rowan, Ryder, and Nolan. Definitely a story I can recommend.

When Greg gets home, he finds Jenny all wrapped up in red silk, and Luke bound to the wall wearing little more than bells and ribbons. Luke promises to be the best Christmas gift they’ve ever shared, and Greg’s sure it’ll be the hottest holiday, too!

Scintillating is the only way to describe this short story. Bound for Christmas gives a whole new meaning to exchanging gifts for the holidays. The fun begins as the reader starts the first line and discovers that a young male is the perfect present for the heroine’s dominant husband. As the threesome explore the pure pleasure of BDSM, the reader is wrapped in the many possibilities this world creates. Perfectly timed this scene takes on a life of its own building to an explosive conclusion that doesn’t come a page to soon.

Gloriously naughty, Bound for Christmas showcases a sex scene the reader will be begging to recreate in the real world. One naughty act after another leaves the reader panting for more as the erotic torture of the two submissives continues. Never overdone, this story should be showcased as the perfect example of what a BDSM scene should be and what others should strive to meet. One of the best short stories I’ve read to date. I can’t wait to see what else this author will release.

Confirmed bachelor, Ryan LaCroix, has no intentions of settling down with anyone, let alone his best friend’s widow, but somehow Kylie and Abby find their way into his heart.

After discovering an old Ouija board in the attic of her new home, Kylie unwittingly opens a cosmic door to an incubus who pretends to be the dead husband she is so desperately struggling to let go of. She falls deep under his potent spell of delicious sex and malevolent obsession while he gradually drains her life to fortify his own. By the time she realizes he’s an imposter, she is powerless to stop him. Together, with Jackson’s subliminal guidance and the help of a kind voodoo practitioner, Ryan and Kylie wage a fight for her life against the evil entity.

Ouija boards bring trouble. The trouble that’s beyond our realm… like spirits. Yes, that’s right, ghosts. As the time goes on, the two spend more and more time together, and their attraction escalates into something more. And someone, or rather something, doesn’t like that one bit. The ghostly visits that were once calm and comforting to Kylie are now angry, pushy visits. And that leaves physical damages. And the tale only gets more twisted and deadly as the story goes on.

Giving Up the Ghost is a thrilling romantic ghost story. One of the many things that stood out are the characters. Kylie, Abby, Ryan and the secondary characters are ones that won’t be easily forgotten. And the paranormal element in such an emotional story kept the pages turning. I didn’t want to put this down. Ms. Mallory’s story had me hooked with the clever prologue that gives the reader a glimpse not only into Ian story but the already planned follow-up books.

Ian and Sileas’ story was at first heart breaking with a period of darkness that eases into a beautiful and fulfilling ending brimming with possibilities. The writing is vivid and draws the reader right into a fast paced story filled with dashing sword fights, daring rescues, devious characters and some deliciously sizzling intimacy between Ian and Sileas…when she isn’t knocking him out with a skillet.

The plot is well laid out and develops throughout the story. Ms. Mallory does a wonderful job of using the Scottish brogue to keep the reader in the time period and setting. There are quite a few secondary characters but they are assets to the story and not simply page fillers.

You won’t want to miss this first book as it introduces the other three men who will have their own stories revealed in The Sinner, The Warrior and The Chieftan. This reviewer will be anxiously awaiting the next installment to see how Alex, the charming womanizer, fares against his fated love.

Can a shattered Marine find home in the past?

Abe Grissom is tired of being alone and not knowing what to do with his life. No longer in the military he heads for home in hope of some answers.

With a little push from his mom he runs into Cameron Norwood. And Cameron has grown into a man worth drooling over. Should he stay or should he go? His future might be decided by looking to the past.

Is he Marine enough for the challenge?

They say you can’t go home again, but sometimes that is exactly where you need to be.

When too much alcohol and a very bad choice leads to discovery of Abe Grissom’s secret life, his military ‘buddies’ show him what happens to gays in their platoon. The beating ends his military career, and he goes home to try and put his life back together and plan for the future. What he didn’t count on was running into someone who would rock his world, and knock him out of the closet and into his arms.

Cameron Norwood had a teen crush on Abe back in high school, and no longer resembles his youthful nickname of Chunky Monkey. Abe soon realizes his mother and Cam’s father are doing their best to fix the two up, but why? With no job and living in his small hometown, can Abe offer Cam anything more than sneaking and hidden passion? Can Cam convince Abe they can be together openly, and does he even want to?

This is a sweet but hot short from Jambrea Jo Jones, and I love the characters she has brought so vividly to life here. I would love to see this couple again, to see how their lives have progressed. She captured small town America perfectly, with all the trials and tribulations, as well as the joys of knowing everyone and their business.

Abe Grissom is a man who took one risk too many in his personal life, and it caused him to lose his military career. As he says in the beginning of the story, too much alcohol and his raging libido overcame caution and good sense, and he paid for it with physical pain and injury. Once he’s home, he has decisions to make, and most involve leaving town-until he lays eyes on Cameron. I like Abe for his big heart and his protective streak where Cam is involved.

Cameron Norwood is a hot hunk, just the kind Abe likes. He lets Abe know he’s interested, and available, but until he is threatened, Abe does nothing to act on the mutual attraction. I like Cam and his determination to go after what he wants, and what he wants is Abe.

I enjoyed watching the light come on when Abe suddenly realized that there was something more than friendship between his mother and Cam’s father. His realization that they were ‘fixing’ him and Cam up was such a delight. Of course, this wouldn’t be a Jambrea Jo Jones story without a bit of scorch the sheet sex, and it is well worth the wait to get to the happy ever after for Abe and Cam.

He knows the real reason why Brandon left town so suddenly, but he’s never confessed his true feelings for Brandon to the woman he adores, or even to himself.

Just as Brandon begins to fear there is no room in their hearts for him, the past comes back to haunt him, and he is thrown into a desperate struggle to save their lives.

Wow! Talk about a storyline that will keep you on edge and unsure in which direction the author is going with the plot. Would it be a Happy for Now type story or a Happy Ever After ending? With two alpha males who both want to run the show and a woman who loves them, the plot was full of conflict and unsure feeling on the part of all three characters. I had so many mixed emotions as I watched the tale unfold. It was definitely a nail-biting journey as I read the book. As the secrets were revealed, I feared that this story would end up as a love affair only without a happy ending, which made it hard for me to take because I had fallen for all three in one way or another and wanted to see them all happy.

I found this an interesting story because the characters had a history. As the title suggests, the rivalry once experienced by Jay and Patrick has never gone away and resurfaces as the story opens.

I enjoyed the way the author introduced us to these three characters. We are given background information without it being too much too soon which is commendable in this short of a read.

The dialogue sounded natural and the pacing spot on for this length of work. My favorite aspect was I assumed that the two guys would compete physically and emotionally for Elyssa which the author portrayed at first. However, there was a wonderful twist in the tale which I won’t give away and spoil for you. These are likable characters and this was a story that I enjoyed reading to the last page.
