What’s a woman to do when her far too sexy ex offers to scratch that itch? Go with it, of course, even if it does mean doing the dirty in a cupboard at her best friend’s wedding.

DeAnne has never gotten over her separation from Quinn, so when she’s confronted with him at this wedding, feelings bubble to the surface for them both. It seems time can’t cool their attraction, but the questions that drove them apart still remain unanswered.
The level of testosterone, diet, physical activities and emotional factors are some among the significant factors which directly affect the sex desire in a person and are very effective. levitra 40 mg So, it is cialis generika very much effective and completely secure for the health. But this time DeAnne is going to fight for the man she loves, and woe betide anyone who gets in her way.

Together, Quinn and DeAnne will overcome all odds … won’t they?

DeAnne loves her best friend and wants to stick to their childhood vow to stand up for each other at their wedding, but the circumstances were trying to say the least. DeAnne’s handsome-as-sin almost-ex-husband is present at the nuptials, and half the world’s media papparazi is there to video, live-stream and record the big event for posterity. DeAnne is not having a good time. Quinn might be her almost-ex, but he’s on a mission to win DeAnne back. DeAnne regrets how – and why – she left, but isn’t sure she wants to rekindle what had been the most smoking hot relationship of her entire life, particularly as many of her insecurities were still running strong. Can DeAnne work herself out of this dilemma?

Written in the first person this short story came across to me as part-confessional, part-humorous re-telling of a crazy story from a bff. Light and frothy, my best advice would be to sit back, grab a bottle of wine, disconnect your brain and enjoy the ride. I found this story to be fast paced and somewhat over the top, but a lot of fun nevertheless. While I was a little disappointed that most of the story revolved around Quinn and DeAnne circling around each other the chemistry and sex between them both was smoking hot, and I did greatly enjoy the tiny sub-plot revolving around Quinn and the mis-conception that had grown between him and DeAnne.

I found both Quinn and DeAnne’s characters to be interesting and relatable. There was a small but delightfully crazy group of secondary characters hovering all around the wings of the wedding – and I’d happily read another short story about one of the other bridesmaids and whatever it was they all managed to get up to during this wedding.

his story is a little bit crazy and a lot funny and I thoroughly enjoyed it. With some fun and lighthearted sex, interesting characters and just enough plot to keep the book moving it’s a great way to pass an afternoon. Recommended.

Cozzi Cove: Happy Endings by Joe Cosentino – Q&A and Giveaway

Long and Short Reviews welcomes Joe Cosentino who is visiting with us today to celebrate the release of Cozzi Cove: Happy Endings, the fifth novel in the Cozzi Cove series. Post a comment about why you love the beach. The one that floats our boat the most will win a gift audiobook of Cozzi Cove: Bouncing Back, the first Cozzi Cove novel, by Joe Cosentino, published by NineStar Press, performed by Chase Johnson.

Welcome back, Joe. You have written twenty-three novels in only five years (releasing through 2020). What’s the secret to being so prolific?

Insomnia.

As a college professor/department head, how do you have the time to write?

I write at night after my spouse has gone to bed. I have a beautiful cherry wood study with a fireplace, huge desk, bookcases, and window seat overlooking the woods. I never want to leave.

How long does it generally take you to write a book?

About three months working evenings and weekends.

What is your writing process?

Jumping up awake in the middle of the night, I jot notes on my nightstand with a new book idea. The next day I begin a biography for each character and eventually a plot summary. I write the first draft, then show the second draft to my spouse. After we argue, the third draft goes to the editor.

You currently work with three different publishers. How do you find the right publisher for each book?

I search for the best publisher for the style of each book or series. I publish a book myself when I think I’m the best one to do so.

Who is your favorite author? And why?

Armistead Maupin has an amazing flair for writing eccentric, loveable characters with engaging and realistic dialogue. I am honored when readers compare the Cozzi Cove series to the Tales of the City books. I also love Agatha Christie, and I drool like a buffoon when reviews compare my mysteries to hers.

In case any newbies to Cozzi Cove are with us, tell us a bit about the series.

Cozzi Cove is a magical place on the New Jersey Shore where nothing is what it seems, anything is possible, and romance is always in the sea air. Ex-football player Cal Cozzi owns a gay resort on a gorgeous cove. In each of the novels, Cal’s storyline moves forward, and we get four additional interwoven storylines about the tantalizing guests in the bungalows. The novels are Cozzi Cove: Bouncing Back, Cozzi Cove: Moving Forward, Cozzi Cove: Stepping Out, Cozzi Cove: New Beginnings, and now Cozzi Cove: Happy Endings.

Is Cozzi Cove a real place?

Though a product of my overactive imagination, Cozzi Cove is based on a spot at the New Jersey Shore that I visited every summer as a kid. My aunt and uncle had a bungalow near the beach, bay, and a private cove that formed when soft rocks were worn away by the sun and salty water faster than the harder rocks surrounding them. This created a gorgeous bay of turquoise water shielded by large rocks in the distance and smaller rocks near the water’s edge.

What’s the story in book five?

Check out the exciting blurb below!

Which character did you have the most fun writing?

Taylor of course is hysterically funny with her Wall Street mentality. But the new houseboy (on the cover) was great fun to write since he’s a nudist who believes he was famous nudists in his past lives. His relationship with Cal’s new nanny, Alfred, has lots of surprises. Oh, Gilead the matchmaker made me laugh out loud when writing him. I love his outlook on love and life.

Which character was the hardest to write?

The other-worldly romance between Nyx and Hurt was a bit challenging since those two live in their own reality. Though it’s a terrific reality.

You also write gay mysteries, adult fairytales, and coming of age stories. How can readers find out about those?

I love hearing from readers! They can go to my web site for all the dirt on me and my books.

It’s summertime, the perfect season for another trip to Cozzi Cove: the magical place where nothing is what it seems and romance is always in the sea air. Welcome back to hunky Cal Cozzi’s seven guest bungalows on the New Jersey Shore. This summer Cal is visited by Kevin Donovan, a handsome man from his past who makes Cal a tempting offer to buy Cozzi Cove and provide financial security to Cal and Michael’s baby. Cal’s Wall Street sister, Taylor, has hopped aboard Kevin’s green wagon. However, Cal’s husband, Michael, and Taylor’s wife, Carla, aren’t convinced, sensing something much deeper in Kevin’s offer than meets the roving eye. Cal’s exhibitionist new houseboy, Carlos, is smitten with Cal’s sweet-faced nanny, Alfred, who carries a shocking secret in his magic Mormon underwear. Middle-aged matchmaker Gilead has matched guests Marine Master Sergeant Matt Pummel and much younger businessman Keone Paoa to the chagrin of cute young lawyer Luis Lui. As skeletons come out of their closets, the bears and cubs search for their true honey. Woodsy guest Nyx Oberon meets a sexy werewolf at the cove and they share a howling moonlit night. Nyx believes his newfound lover could be part of a much larger plan that would change his life and the world forever. Will Cal, his family, and his guests have happy endings? It’s Cozzi Cove after all.

Praise for the COZZI COVE series:

“I loved this story. It carries you through the full range of emotions, from joy to sadness, from happiness to anger. The characters are beautifully written…I look forward to a return visit to the Cove.” TBR Pile Book of the Month

“In true Joe Cosentino style, this book is packed full of drama! This cast of characters will have you laughing out loud one minute before ripping your heart out the next.” Joyfully Jay Reviews

“Who knew that 7 bungalows set surrounding a beautiful cove, could hold so many secrets, love and intrigue?…The humour, whether subtle or not-so-subtle was superb, the timing delivered with perfection, Joe Cosentino is a natural comedian and another reason why I love reading his books. He is also very clever, he weaved moral messages throughout the entire storyline….Great fun entwined with the Cosentino romantic magic that brings his books alive, I loved it.” Three Books Over the Rainbow

“Spending a week in the sun with the permanent and transitory residents of Cozzi Cove makes for a superb, unputdownable, read. There are laugh out loud moments, lots of chuckles, some very heartwarming as well as heart wrenching moments, lots of gorgeous men and women, love, lust and even some tears. Joe Cosentino has a brilliantly unique sense of humour, and a masterful way of writing stories containing farce, larger than life men and women, and often over the top characters you’ll fall in love with. For all that his characters come across as completely relatable and realistic. His books are one of a kind and utterly addictive. I have yet to read a Joe Cosentino book that was less than 5 Stars, and this book is no exception. Do yourself a favour and grab this book with both hands. I guarantee you’ll be very glad you did.” Divine Magazine

Cal placed the luggage on the floor next to the desk. “What do you do?”

“I’m a matchmaker.”

Cal couldn’t help smiling.

“What? Because my name isn’t Dolly or Yente?”

“What is your name?”

Gilead sighed. “Nobody reads the Bible anymore, except the people who use it as a weapon to try to take away our rights.”

Cal found Gilead’s name on his computer. “Yes, you purchased four bungalows for the week.”

“They’re not all for me.” Gilead adjusted his tight powder-blue jumpsuit. “I’m not that large.” He chuckled.

There was something likeable about the guy. “Who are they for?”

“My clients. I’m the top-rated matchmaker in the gay community. Haven’t you heard of me?”

“Sorry.”

“Have you been to Commercial Street in Provincetown, Castro Street in San Francisco, Christopher Street in New York City, and Duval Street in Key West?”

“Yeah.”

“You notice the sea of gay couples holding hands as they walk down the streets?”

“Um hm.”

“I did that. And believe me I get a lot of wedding invitations from my clients. I can do the alley cat, tarantella, and Macarena in my sleep.” He sat on the desk. “I also match up guys on the down low and in the up high.”

“The up high?”

“The Vatican.” He said sotto voce, “The priests without altar boys.”

Cal couldn’t help laughing.

Gilead squinted at the tiny American flag on Cal’s shirt. “Interesting flag. Where’s the other colors of the rainbow?”

Though Cal was entertained by Gilead’s antics, he needed to get back to business. “Gilead, I have you in Bungalow Five and your guests in Bungalows Two, Three, and Four.”

He nodded. “Generally, the men I match go out to dinner to meet each other. But these guys bought my special package: a week’s vacation at a gay resort with the man of their dreams.”

“What if one of them isn’t happy with your selection for him?”

“Impossible. I have a ninety-five percent success rate in matchmaking.”

“And the other five percent?”

“They came out as straight.” He raised his eyes to his receding hairline. “For the moment.”

Cal said, “With all the hook-up web sites, I’m surprised a matchmaker still exits.”

“Those web sites are just that.” He said as if eating mud, “Places for hook-ups.” Smiling radiantly, he added, “I match people for life!”

“How do you do it?”

Gilead said with a flourish of his pudgy hand, “I meet with each applicant for three hours, where I ask him a series of questions. Then I type the data into my computer and the magic happens.”

“Hopefully the Republicans won’t work with Russia to hack in.”

Gilead paused, stared at Cal, and then burst out laughing. “I like an innkeeper with a sense of humor.” He crossed one leg over the over. “You looking for somebody?”

Cal smiled. “I’m happily married, thank you.”

“If anything changes.” Gilead handed Cal his card. “I guarantee satisfaction.”

“I don’t think I’ll be needing your services.”

“That’s what they all say.”

Cal couldn’t resist. “Are you single, Gilead?”

“As single as a Republican at a Green Peace rally.” He sighed. “To be honest, Cal, I’ve devoted my life to finding happiness for others. Now at forty-five, I’m ready for a bit of happiness myself.”

“You may find it. This is Cozzi Cove.”

BA Tortuga’s Top Five Favorite Paranormal Books – Guest Blog

Long and Short Reviews welcomes BA Tortuga who is visiting with us to celebrate the release of her new book Things that Go Bump in the Night.

*****
Hey y’all. I’m BA Tortuga, resident redneck and lover of all things paranormal.

A huge collection of my paranormal stories is releasing from Dreamspinner Press and to celebrate I’d like to share my top five paranormal books of all time. 😀

1 IT by Stephen King. This is my favorite book of all time. No question. Scary clowns. Amazing characters. Shapeshifting. I read it for the first time when I was in a hospital at 16. Scared the pee-waddin’ out of me.

2 The Shining by Stephen King. Talk about the ultimate haunted house. This book still makes me cry, every time.

3 The Dark Half by Dean Koontz. Demons in a school locker. That’s really all you need to know. Demons in a school locker!

4 Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I love the slow, steady pacing of this book. It’s amazing because by the end you just can’t breathe. 😉

5 Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury. This book scares me and makes me all soft and nostalgic at the same time.

Much love, y’all.

After a childhood filled with demons and her devil-worshiping parents, Lydia longs for a quiet, normal life, a safe haven somewhere blissfully dull. Being the manager at the Roanoke Apartments seems to fit that bill. But Lydia soon learns that you can’t leave the past behind so easily. She finds herself faced with unclogging drains for werewolves, conducting nightly vampire counseling sessions, and caring for two talkative cats. Then there’s the distraction of Geoffrey, the hottest, and most angelic, boss anyone ever dreamed of. As if that isn’t enough, the demon who nearly killed her shows up to finish the job. So much for a peaceful, simple life…

From the time of her birth Lydia’s parents let her know she was destined to be sacrificed to a demon. Lovely way to grow up. When she unexpectedly escapes the demons clutches she changes her name, dies her hair blue and begins life anew with a job at a retirement village. Life there is unusual to say the least. Her boss and his opposite number are not the usual type of employers and the residents are totally out of this world.

I found the inner thoughts of Lydia to be fascinating, and was able to follow her life so far without a long description, it all came out in her thoughts, but not in one big lump, every thought was instigated by something that happened during the day. Her immediate attraction to her boss caused her untold heartache as her lack of self esteem made her doubt every move – both his and hers.

Chaos erupts but it’s difficult to tell if Lydia will take up her parents lifestyle of evil, or if she will collapse under the strain. Evil and good fight it out to see who will win, not only win the battle but also the soul of Lydia.

This story was great, a very unusual inspirational mixed with paranormal. At first I thought I might have made a mistake picking this to read, but I read (read inhaled here for effect) it in one day, so you can tell I was wrong. This is the type of book I will read again and again.

Flynn Steven’s cousin Suzy, once married to Marshall Beckett, reveals details of her awful marriage to a tyrant. She begs Flynn to see if the son she left behind is okay and locate her hidden diary, a “matter of life or death.” Flynn is at a crossroads in her life where she can renew her contract as a world-traveling concert violinist or search for what she really longs for—a home, with a special person to love. She arrives at Marshall’s horse ranch, Rainbow’s End, under the pretense of answering his ad for a nanny. But Suzy had failed to tell Flynn that in the same ad he advertised for a wife. This rugged, coppery-haired rancher is burned out on love and wants a woman to bear him children, without investing any emotional commitments. When they decide a marriage of convenience is the only way to save Rainbow’s End, sparks fly between them. But when he learns that she came under false pretenses, will he give her a chance to explain, or just send her packing?

The title caught my eye immediately and sparked my imagination and curiosity. How I envisioned the hero was based on the title and it was nowhere near close. I imagined a fun, wild, rough and tough, risk taker cowboy that needed taming. Marshall wasn’t any of those things. He was strong and handsome but way too stubborn with an impenetrable wall of protection around his already heartbroken heart. He hardly smiled and was serious almost all the time. He had a few vulnerable moments and those are what helped me connect to his character. Flynn, the heroine, was undaunted by Marshall’s stern mannerisms. Through Flynn’s eyes, the reader is able to connect to Marshall.

When I read the synopsis I was further intrigued to read this book because Flynn was posing as a nanny. I actually work as a nanny so that really allured me into reading this book. I was expecting some humorous scenes between Flynn and Marshall’s child, Timmy, since she was posing as a nanny and surely wouldn’t know what to do. That was not the case. Timmy was shy and withdrawn much like his father was. Flynn was the opposite of Marshall but she was in his home under false pretenses therefore the lies and secrets made it nearly impossible to romance this Tasmanian cowboy.

While this story was written well and had a steady rhythm, the pace was slow. With that said I can’t say it was predictable. There were a few plot twists. The author did a good job alluding to something so that I thought I had it figured out then twisted the plot so that I was wrong. The author did this a few times and I believe that was what kept me hooked until the end.

The characters were well developed but we never got to meet Flynn’s mother. She’s mentioned throughout the book so I at least expected to meet her even if it was just in an epilogue – which there wasn’t one. Suzy was an important side character. She was Flynn’s cousin and Marshall’s first wife and the mother of Timmy. I felt like she was a loose thread at the end. She obviously needed medical help and I’m sad that plot thread wasn’t given the closure that was needed. I’m left wondering about the mentally tortured girl.

The romance between Marshall and Flynn managed to work. They were attracted to each other; it just took a long time for Flynn to crack the shield around Marshall’s heart. I stayed up until 1AM to finish the book. Sometimes you get so far that you just have to see how it ends. I hate to go to bed with dirty dishes in the sink. I don’t want to start my day cleaning yesterday’s mess. It feels good to go to bed knowing the house is tidy and neat. That’s how I felt last night. I just wanted to finish the book so I could wake up today and write the review.

Since this book did entertain me and I enjoyed most of it, I’d recommend Romancing a Tasmanian Cowboy to other readers. We all know that reviewing is subjective. There were some good parts in this book that made it worth reading.

But it’s not like he can confess he’s not the wedding planner he’s pretending to be—especially now that he’s falling for the maid of honor! His charade is becoming a farce, and as engines rev and ribbons fly, Trey’s running out of time to figure out how to tell the truth without losing his new family, his crew…or the woman of his dreams.

Romantic suspense is always fun when it’s jam-packed with tough guys, dangerous killers, and biker dudes doing arts & crafts for a wedding, never mind testing recipes and fighting over weird hors d’oeuvres. To Have and to Harley has something for everyone and it’s a great read.

Interspersed with all the fun is some very serious stuff. A family found, a family to dread, a bad boss, and a family to lose – all contribute to a rollercoaster ride of terrific reading. Each chapter introduced a new wrinkle, some humorous, some scary and some were so incredibly romantic and sexy as to sear my fingers from their heat. This novel kept me flipping the pages so fast, this ended up a one day read. I couldn’t put it down – so much happens to, and around, Trey and Bethany that I was hooked. Ms. Cole created very approachable characters with heart, foibles, suspicions, hopes and a growing attraction that soon turns to passion and love. The hero and heroine were perfect together.

The only part that was predicable was when Trey lost his phone. I knew what that meant but it didn’t detract from the drama that unfolded from that point on. My heart still ended up in my throat because I had no idea how anyone could come out safe and unscathed. So exciting!!!

Secondary characters were very important and Ms. Cole used them wisely and effectively. I liked Mrs. Yelverton, Sarah and Trey’s buddies. I met so many wonderful people in this novel that I look forward to seeing them again and find out what happens next, and to whom.

The happy ever after isn’t just about Trey and Bethany. It’s bigger than that and it’s totally awesome. Oh, and the wedding turned out to be unusual but awesome. How it all came together needs to be read to be appreciated. The plans that were made at the end made the HEA that much more special and joyful. I’m very impressed with the first installment of Ms. Cole’s Bikers and Brides series and I bet it’s going to be a new favorite for lot of fans both old and new. Count me as a fan.

But her refuge doesn’t last long. Driven out of their hosts by Laegon, a handful Drulaack have returned to the Spirit World. No longer having the protection of the dead, Irewen is forced to return to Vaelinel.

Finally reunited with her companions, the burdens placed on them are taking their toll. Thoughts of suicide and mistrust plague the company. Slowly unravelling, they must conquer their personal battles before standing against the evil threatening the land.

For the Corrupter thirsts for revenge. And he’ll stop at nothing to satisfy his hunger.

Enjoy an Excerpt:

Breathless, Irewen fell to her knees. An action which should have lasted mere seconds felt like an eternity. Tears of hopeless frustration welled in her eyes.

She had no idea how long she’d been walking among the dead. Here in the Spirit World, a simple movement seemed to drag on for an age. Time existed only in the land of the living. The dead had no need for such a triviality.

The pulsing light of her mother in the distance called to her, beckoning for her to follow. She ignored it. Where once seeing Juleniel filled her with joy, it now stirred nothing but bitterness.

She’d dutifully trailed behind her mother since the dead embraced her and carried her into their world. But her optimism faded with every step. She had no way to judge her progress. No landmarks. No references. No days.

Whenever she asked her parents how much further they had to go before she reached the safety of the Light Elves, they couldn’t answer. The dead didn’t need such limitations. They didn’t care how long something took to accomplish. Why would they? They had all the time in the world.

But for Irewen, all these things were essential. She needed a change in scenery, however slight. She needed to see the rising and setting of the sun. To stand beneath the stars. To feel the wind brush against her skin. To hear the soft patter of rain.

She desperately clung to the memories, yearning for some sign to tell her she was alive. But the vibrancy of the memories continued to dwindle. The longer she remained in the Spirit World, the more distant any reminders of life became. She had to pass the borders of Lündvelle before it was too late. Before all memories vanished completely and she became trapped in this world for the rest of her days, the only living being to walk among the dead.

Tears finally graced her cheeks, and she buried her face in her hands. Her sobs were silent, immediately lost in the nothingness surrounding her.

Do you want to know what it’s like to die, to kill, to really fear for your life? Then get hooked…

Detroit-based homicide detective John Barnes has seen it all—literally. Thanks to a technologically advanced machine, detectives have access to the memories of the living, the dying, and the recently dead. But extracting victims’ experiences firsthand and personally reliving everything up to the final, brutal moments of their lives—the sights, the sounds, the scents, the pain—is also the punishment reserved for the criminals themselves.

Barnes has had enough. Enough of the memories that aren’t his. Enough of the horror. Enough of the voices inside his head that were never meant to take root…until a masked serial killer known as Calavera strikes a little too close to home.

Now, with Calavera on the loose, Barnes is ready to reconnect, risking his life—and his sanity. Because in the mind of this serial killer, there is one secret even Barnes has yet to see…

What if you could sell your memories so that others could experience them? Better yet, what if your final moments were caught on tape in a way that could help solve your own murder? Wonder no longer because that’s exactly what’s happening in Detroit thanks to an invention simply known as the machine. Step back, Detective John Barnes is on the case – and in your mind.

Detective John Barnes isn’t your ordinary law enforcement officer. He actually has a very special skill – he’s well versed in the uses of The Machine – making him more in-demand than other homicide detectives in Detroit. He’s literally seen – and experienced – it all. Barnes’ use of the machine, for both his personal reasons as well as his professional ones, makes for a very interesting character. Once he’s used the machine, the memories never really leave him. They taunt him, the coerce him, they even try to help him sometimes. Often, he feels like he’s losing his mind, but honestly, I think he copes well considering all he’s endured.

The idea of a machine that can extract memories from a person is fascinating to me. Of course, there are those who use the machine for pleasurable pursuits, but that’s only natural. Who wouldn’t want to step into the shoes of their favorite celebrity, athlete, or musician? But the application it was used for in the book – to see the last moments of a homicide victim’s life – is revolutionary. Calavera fascinated me as well. Between the poems and the sugar skull mask, he wasn’t quite like anything I had encountered before.

The author did an excellent job of bringing the idea to life and I’m eager to see what Barnes and his fellow officers get up to in the sequel. As someone who reads a lot of crime fiction and police procedurals, Punishment definitely was something new and exciting and I’m anxious for more.

The Tannells are the wealthiest family in the fictional town of Bayouville, Louisiana. They seem to have it all with money, power, and fame. Thomas and Savannah have always tried to paint the perfect picture of the Tannell family, but are they really perfect?

As a hurricane is approaching Bayouville, Louisiana, Mr. Tannell is dealing with a storm of his own. What secret could Mr. Tannell be hiding that could shatter the Tannells’ image and empire?

Physical causes: Diabetes, thyroid disorder, testicular atrophy secondary to Cirrhosis or Hemachromatosis, autonomic neuropathy of diabetes, alcohol addiction and lack of nutrients in the body, spinal cord injury, head injury with temporal lobe trauma, multiple sclerosis, bifid urethra, chordee, aching erection from phimosis, or ulcers mumps, varicocele, hydrocele, Le riche syndrome etc. viagra in uk It kills 900,000 online viagra canada people every year in the beautiful town of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, UK. Understandably, change is inevitable in the business world; and evaluating infrastructure breakdowns is needed anytime a problem does occur. levitra 40 mg What could the Dawson-Rollands, an average middle-class family, have that the Tannells don’t?

The Tannell’s Family Secret is a suspenseful, fiction story of two families, one rich, the other middle-class, that shows that things aren’t always what they seem.

Faith and Jackie return home to Bayouville, Louisiana after a death in the family. Jackie re-connects with Hazel Tannell, a friend from school. While the Tannell’s have plenty of money – easily the most wealthy family in their town – Jackie learns that even seemingly perfect families are not as blissful as they outwardly appear.

I found this to be an interesting short story. The character perspectives jumped around a little – which I know many readers don’t enjoy – but in this particular instance I understood why the author did it. Moving from Jackie’s perspective, to that of Mr Tannell’s, to Mrs Tannell etc helped show us, the reader, what was really going on behind that perfect facade of the Tannell family. While I’m not sure really that I’d classify this as a mystery story – there’s not the usual mystery of “who done it”, the reader is brought along as the murder “mystery” occurs – but again I can understand this book being labeled as a mystery when that’s the closest slot I feel the book can be put into.

Despite the lack of mystery surrounding the murder, I still found this quite an enjoyable read. I knew from the blurb and title that there would be a mystery/secret surrounding the Tannell family and that they wouldn’t be as perfect as they appear at first. While I admit I found the writing a little choppy – in part I think from the character perspective changes, but also in part because there would be multiple scenes in a chapter which left me with an impression of “jumping around” a little. But again, despite this I really found overall for this to be a good, strong story. I was a little disappointed that the ending was wrapped up in what seemed like a very quick fashion, but I was pleased that all my questions were resolved with sensible answers that made sense and helped give closure to the story.

There is a strong thread of religious belief throughout the story. A number of the characters express a strong faith in God and belief that He touches us in various ways throughout our lives. I don’t feel the various characters’ religious belief overshadows the plot or various happenings to the Tannell family but it’s definitely a consistent theme throughout the story which I feel readers should be aware of.

I found this to be a well-written book with good characters and a number of moving parts that all blended very well together into a strong and coherent story. With a strong Christian theme and a number of different plots following various characters this was an interesting short story that captured and retained my attention throughout. A story that I felt was an interesting and solid read.

What will Cin do now?

Cin’s story is a good read. There is no mistaking that this is a retelling of Cinderella with a naughty theme. It is a fun and engaging read. I loved all the Princes and Cin as well. There is depth to each character and their story comes to life nicely. It was nice to see the relationship grow between Cin and Henry and what each one will do for their love. I also enjoyed the twist with the fairy godmother and how she grants wishes. She is nothing like those that we know from childhood. Cin learns what a treasure love can be and as always you should be careful of what you wish for.
