Kyle’s never forgotten Steph, and never forgiven himself for not finding the time to tell her how he felt for her. Now’s his chance. But has too much time passed? is it too late to tell her exactly how he feels about her?

Stephanie is maid of honour as her best friend marries Stephanie’s twin brother. After a motorcycle accident stopped the Best Man from being able to attend the wedding Stephanie is equally thrilled and horrified that her childhood friend, Kyle, is stepping in. After years of non-contact, she’s uncertain what, if anything, to say. After such a long time, can Stephanie and Kyle finally find their way together?

I found this to be a funny and remarkably sweet story. Full of humorous wedding shenanigans this lighthearted start is sure to appeal to many readers – Stephanie’s walk down the aisle is equal parts cringe-worthy embarrassment and hilarious. While a little clichéd – a part of me feels the author has taken a “best of” from everyone’s horror wedding stories – I feel it helps set the story up in a funny and amusing manner. I was particularly grateful for this happy, light-hearted beginning as the remainder of the story was a bit of a roller-coaster emotionally.

I was a little disappointed that Kyle and Stephanie’s relationship progressed with a few jumps forward in time. This made it harder for me to really feel connected to the strength and solidness of their romance. Instead of seeing their connection and watching them fall deeper in love together through shared experiences, these jumps made the story-line feel a bit choppy to me and their progress rushed. I knew they adored each other and had no question about their feelings, but a part of my love for reading romance is seeing and experiencing this, not just hurrying through the story itself. The ending as well felt particularly rushed to me – an awful lot happening in the last half dozen pages. It felt just a little too much like the author had a set plan of what they wanted done and hurried through it all. I feel the story would have been far stronger had a scene or two been removed and the scenes remaining been fleshed out more and given a bit more detail and attention.

With interesting characters and a lot of humour in the beginning, this is a good, solid story that I overall enjoyed. A few bumps along the way still left this being an enjoyable read.

What happens to a girl who can’t say no? Most people would assume she’d end up pregnant before her fifteen birthday. The idea made Emma wrinkle her nose at the impossibility of that happening to her. It would involve someone asking her to do something more interesting than pet sitting their parrot or run papers to a client on her way home. Truthfully, she didn’t mind too much. She didn’t have children to drive to soccer practice or the need to start dinner for her partner when she got home from work. What she did resent was people assuming, since she had no life, she’d automatically do the things they had no time to do.

Delivering papers wasn’t in her job description. Technically it wasn’t on anyone’s in the office. The others were smart enough to make themselves scarce, while Emma merely took the papers and agreed to go out of her way to Carmel to deliver them before the end of the workday. The only perk was she got to leave early to arrive while the client’s office was still open.

After she delivered the papers, she exited the art deco building, only to almost bump into him. She couldn’t say she didn’t notice him. He was the type of male who drew all eyes to him by simply existing. He’d erupted into the parking lot riding a wave of sound and testosterone. Instead of a surfboard, his mode of transportation was a Triumph motorcycle. The bike drew her eye first. Back when she was barely thirteen, she longed for a motorcycle. Her fantasies, however, didn’t include her hanging onto some guy steering the bike. It was always her bike.

The daughter she gave away. The family she always wanted. The journey to redefine her fate.

Katie Callahan longs to start a family of her own. Infertile and unable to convince her relatives to accept the man she married, she regrets giving away the daughter from her secret teenage pregnancy. When a twist of fate brings a second chance at motherhood, she’s caught between joy and the fear of her husband’s rejection of another man’s child… until a devastating motorcycle accident rips the decision out of her hands.

Guided by spiritual forces and the soul of her beloved dog, she learns the life-changing power of intention and self-transformation. From her ethereal vantage-point, she watches as her loved ones work together to connect the pieces of their broken hearts. As she finally realizes her true destiny, Katie’s only chance to fulfill her purpose means completing an impossible journey back to life…

Cloud Whispers is a mind-expanding women’s fiction novel with a strong spiritual message. If you like headstrong heroines, heartwarming stories of family and forgiveness, and new age concepts, then you’ll love Sedona Hutton’s empowering tale.

Tension runs high between Kate and her husband as well as Kate and her parents, especially her father, who not only keeps pushing her to find an “important” job, but also kept secret the whereabouts of the baby she gave up for adoption when she was a teenager.

Following a serious motorcycle accident, Kate finds herself in a spiritual place the author refers to as “Tranquility” – a transitional holding area for souls who are between life and death – she is in a coma on earth. As she tries to figure out what she really wants out of life, we also see what is going on with her family on earth.

The characters in this book are all well drawn, and you can see a lot of growth in them. It can be enjoyed on many levels – there’s the physical world story and the spiritual world story; a story of love – man for woman, mother for child, child for parents.

The reader learns, along with Kate, how to utilize the power of intention and the law of attraction to get what she really wants out of life.

If you are interested in learning more about the power of intention and what our consciousness can really accomplish, or if you are simply interested in a good story, I suggest giving Cloud Whispers a try. It is beautifully written with a wonderful tension filled plot.

Welcome to the Library of Lost Things, where the shelves are stuffed with books that have fallen through the cracks—from volumes of lovelorn teenage poetry to famous works of literature long destroyed or lost. They’re all here, pulled from history and watched over by the Librarian, curated by the Collectors, nibbled on by the rats. Filed away, never to be read. At least, until Thomas, the boy with the secret, comes to the Library.

However, erectile dysfunction at a younger age and sometimes even the too much of a period will cause heart attack and death. viagra low price Order vardenafil cost best page 60mg online to beat sexual mayhem called impotence or erectile dysfunction. Many people have secrets, but most folks’ secrets aren’t quite as potentially life-changing as the one Thomas has.

The plot twists were well written. I enjoyed trying to figure out why Thomas ended up at the Library of Lost Things, especially since it didn’t seem to be the sort of place that the average person would know about. The more time he spent at his new job, the harder I worked to put all of the clues together before the narrator revealed what was going on with this character and the delightfully peculiar coworkers he’d just met.

It would have been nice to have more world building. I adored the idea of a magical library that collected and preserved books that have been lost to humanity, but it would have preferred to see more time spent explaining when this place was first created and how they acquired such a rare collection of materials. There was so much about it that was never explained.

Not everyone would be well-suited for working in such an unusual place. My favorite scenes were the ones that showed what the employees were like. They all had quirky parts of their personalities that ended up making them the perfect candidates for their positions. It was especially interesting to see Thomas go through the interviewing process and adjust to his first days on the job. He obviously belonged there just as much as anyone else who’d been selected.

The Library of Lost Things was a creative tale I’d recommend to anyone who has ever wondered what it would be like to read a novel that no longer exists in our world.

Baseball player Brett must get rehabilitation for his shoulder if he wants another season in the Major Leagues. Brett and Ralph butt heads from the beginning. Ralph wants Brett to be more in touch with his feelings; Brett wants Ralph to give him his therapy and leave him alone. Benj and Jean get along far better, with Jean showing Benj around the kitchen and reassuring him when things with Brett get strained.

Before Ralph can even begin to work on Brett’s shoulder, though, Brett faces an even more difficult physical challenge, one that does more than threaten his career. He and Benj have to work through some tough issues, making decisions that will affect the rest of their lives together. Their gradual friendship with Ralph and Jean helps them through the bad times, but even that might not be enough to pull them through.

Benj and Brett have been together for many years and are a solidly committed couple. Brett’s shoulder injury – a real threat to his baseball career – has brought the couple low, but they’re not ready to call it quits yet. Determined to try and get Brett recovered they go to a retreat to try one last ditch effort. Ralph and his lover Jean ran the retreat and were determined to do all they could to help Brett recover from his injury and subsequent surgeries. But Brett and Ralph butt heads from day one. Can the two couples work together to reach the same goal they all share?

I absolutely loved this book. I have to be honest, I was a little skeptical to begin with – sporty type of stories usually aren’t my thing, but I was both delighted and surprised by the depths in this story. I think it was a stroke of genius to have the four main characters already in two committed, solid relationships. That got a lot of the “will they/won’t they” type of drama out of the way early on. It also left plenty of room for the real meat and bones of the story to shine through. The conflict of Brett and his shoulder injury, the drama of how it had so monumentally effected his and Benj’s relationship and life together. Brett and Ralph do butt heads, but in the normal manner of two alpha men used to doing their own thing having to work together while still effectively strangers. The emotions and dynamics of the four men were interesting and grabbed my attention right from the first few pages. Each man was their own character, different and unique and I utterly loved watching them all interact and add what they could – both to the plot and the story as a whole.

There was also an abundance of emotion in this story which just thrilled me. Yes, there was plenty of passion and chemistry, but while the romance and love was clearly present it was the main situation of helping Brett heal from his injury and get back into professional form that was the main mountain that needed to be overcome. And seeing the four men interact together and finally work together as a team in a day-to-day, routine kind of way that really sold me on this. Yes, baseball and the higher goal of getting Brett back into peak form was the aim, but the “sports” side of the story wasn’t so strong that it overwhelmed the far more important (in my opinion) aspects of the two couples’ relationship, the love and devotion between them and the actual act of Brett recovering properly and getting his head back on straight. I really feel that the whole story focused on the exact right aspects and the complexities of the characters and my enjoyment of all their interactions really made this story fantastic and one I look forward to enjoying again.

Readers looking for a hurt/comfort/healing style of story should definitely find this appealing. There’s interesting and complicated characters all working together and trying to find the way they fit together best. There’s two committed couples (and some deliciously steamy sex) but best of all there’s normal and I feel, relatable emotions that just shine through every page. While there is sport central to the storyline it’s not overpowered by the things that best make up any romance novel – characters, interactions, conflict, worry and love. This is a great story I thoroughly enjoyed and can heartily recommend to others.

Waking after an illness to a castle overrun by rugged Highlanders is disconcerting, but so is learning that she’s slowly being poisoned. Niels insists on staying by her side, and Edith soon discovers that even more dangerous is her wild attraction to the fierce warrior.

Niels has never met a more courageous—or enticing—woman than Lady Edith. The idea of such a bonny lass being forced to enter a nunnery is more than any red-blooded Scotsman could bear. He’ll gladly marry her himself. But while sweeping her off her feet is easy, it’ll take all his skill to defeat her family’s relentless enemies and convince her to surrender to his sweet embrace . . .

Can you find love in the middle of mayhem? That is a question Edith is going to find the answer to. She finds herself with a bodyguard after she becomes sick and emotions soon follow. Niels is determined to keep Edith safe no matter what. He loves her feistiness and her strength and is ready to do what ever it takes to win her heart. As murder and mayhem abound Edith and Niels begin to recognize their emotions and must decide just what they are going to do about them.

I enjoyed seeing Niels and Edith’s relationship take shape. She is a strong woman who is ready to do what she must to survive. Niels is a good man and he not only has feelings for Edith, but he respects her as well. The two make a great couple and work nicely together. Their story is full of emotions and mystery. Someone is poisoning Edith’s clan and they need to find out who it is before everyone is killed. I really liked that Edith is strong and stayed strong throughout her ordeal. She never becomes a woman who depends on a man to fix everything.

This is the latest book in this series but can be enjoyed on its own. We have met the main characters in previous books, but this is where we get to truly meet them and see their personalities shine. The story moves along pretty quickly and has a good twist in the end that I did not see coming. It is filled with good characters and the author does a nice job of keeping the camaraderie going throughout the book.

I am a fan of Lynsay Sands and she does not disappoint with this book. It is well written and gives readers all the things that you expect from one of her books. I was pulled right into the story and fully engaged all the way to the end.

Emma spun on her heels, opened her mouth, then promptly closed it. All sadness fled in a millisecond.

Leaning against the doorframe, Shep wore only his jeans, no shirt in sight. Oh my fucking God. Dream Shep had nothing on the real thing. Anyone could tell that Shep worked hard for a living. He didn’t seem the type of man that would spend hours in the gym, indicating his job was the reason he was built for hard labor. His wide shoulders, squared chest, gloriously perfect six-pack with deep ridges made for exploring fingers—all of it was mouthwateringly hot.

His voice deepened into a low rumbly tone. “Darlin’, you really need to stop looking at me like that.”

She lifted her gaze to his potent stare. Heat rose to her cheeks. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry.” The side of his mouth curved, like he knew the power he had over her. “I happen to enjoy watching you eye-fuck me, but you’re making it hard for me to be a gentleman.”

Her knees weakened, heart raced. How tempting it was to engulf this fiery passion burning between them, not run from it. And how confusing was that? No more casual sex, wasn’t that what she said? She knew where relationships like that ended up, nowhere good. Yet, her mouth parted, and out came, “What if I don’t want you to be a gentleman?”

Something fierce crossed his expression then, darkening his eyes. He stepped forward, bringing all that strong manly heat in close. He smelled of rain and wood and all that was perfect in this world. He dipped his head, and all she had to do was reach out and touch him. “What exactly do you want from me, Emma?” His lips were right there. His naked flesh, right there. “Do you want me to take control of you and roughly take what’s mine for the night?”

His sexy smile revealed a horrible truth. She nearly melted into the floor. “Oh, dear Lord, I told you about my dream?” Please say no. Please say no.

He lifted his hand, gently dragging his knuckles across her cheek. “Ah, but I happen to like that dream you had and shared with me.” He slid his thumb across her chin, tilting her head up to stare deeply into his gorgeous eyes. “You still haven’t answered me. Do you want me to kiss you slowly, savoring every little bit of your mouth?” His thumb brushed across the plumpest part of her bottom lip. “Or shall I punish you with my kiss, making you regret that you ever turned me down?” The heat of his body sizzled against her as he leaned in closer, his warm breath across her mouth. “Tell me, Emma, shall I tie you up with my ropes like I already have? Do you remember what that felt like? Did you like it, sweetheart?”

His grin was pure sin. “You’re right, I do know that.” He dragged his knuckles over her flushing cheek again, seemingly touching her soul-deep. Her mouth parted, breaths became heavier when he ran the pads of his fingers slowly down her arms, the power he exuded like a wall of strength in front of her. “Tell me, Emma,” he finished.

The words nearly fell out of her mouth. She wanted to experience his brand of passion. She got the feeling if she let go with him, he’d deliver where others had failed. Almost as if he’d take away all the pain, all the confusion, and silence her fears.
Her mouth parted to say, Make me forget it all. The words died in her throat. Her fears were bigger and stronger than her desire. She’d been fooled by one man before. The icy cold reminder still splintered her heart, there and unavoidable. “I can’t,” she said softly.

“You can’t.” There was no disappointment in his voice, only firmness. “Then I can’t.”

He took her hand into the strength of his, and she slowly opened her eyes, her breath catching at the contained power in his expression.

Shep breathed sex and passion, and the danger of him presented itself to her. Causal sex was one thing, but she got the feeling Shep didn’t do causal sex. He was pure emotion, total connection, and all intimacy. He’d wrap her up emotionally and take everything she had, and when he was finished with her, he’d demand more.

With his eyes locked onto hers, he led her from the bedroom. Once in the hallway, he turned to her, leaned in, and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. “Good night, Emma.”

She could finally breathe again. “Good night, Shep.”

Then with that blazing-hot gaze pinning her to where she stood, he shut the bedroom door, leaving her, and all her thoughts, alone in the quiet hallway.

After knocking sharply, he lowered his chin, crossed his arms over his chest, and waited. He chose not to analyze why the idea of disturbing her sleep gave him a perverse sort of pleasure.

He was about to knock again, when the lock released and the door opened to reveal a very sleepy— and very undressed—woman blinking at him with wide blue eyes.

“Mr. Kincaid? Is something wrong?”

Wrong? Hellfire and damnation. Malcolm could barely think.

The foolish woman stood there in nothing more than a white towel wrapped around her body from chest to knee. The creamy skin of her limbs and shoulders was entirely exposed, and dark hair fell in heavy waves down her back. She looked soft and feminine and too damned enticing.

Lust swept hot and furious through him. He ground his back teeth hard to stop his body’s instant reaction to the sight of Miss Brighton in such a state.

“What the hell are you doing opening the door like that?” Malcolm growled, glancing down the hall to make sure no one else was about.

Her eyes grew wider as she looked down at herself. A swift blush pinkened her cheeks, and she tried to step back around the edge of the door. “I was in a deep sleep,” she explained. “I forgot I wasn’t dressed.”

“What if it hadn’t been me knocking?” he asked angrily.

It was probably his tone that had her lifting her chin and narrowing her gaze. “Well, it is you, isn’t it? And you still haven’t told me why you have come to bother me in the middle of the night.”

“It’s barely ten o’clock.”

Apparently over her embarrassment, she crossed her arms over her chest in a perfect copy of his own stance and lifted her brows in question. The action plumped the upper swells of her breasts, and Malcolm’s mouth went bone-dry.

Forcing his attention back to her face didn’t seem to help much. Not with her eyes all soft from sleep and those lips looking so damn kissable.

“I’ll take you to Montana,” he said abruptly, trying to shake himself free of the sensual snare he’d walked into.

Her mouth dropped open in surprise. “You will?”

Malcolm was tempted to back out then simply due to the strength of his unbidden desire. He did not want to entertain the idea that his attraction to her was growing stronger rather than fading. But it was the damned truth. The journey was going to be torturous in more ways than one. He had no intention of acting on the lust she inspired, but that didn’t mean he didn’t feel it, and it didn’t mean he’d always be able to hide it.

But he couldn’t in good conscience leave her stranded. Doing so would make him no better than Lassiter, and there was no telling what manner of character she’d end up in the hands of if he wasn’t there to keep her out of trouble.

“We do things my way,” he stated firmly. “No arguing.”

She nodded vigorously. “Of course. Whatever you say, Mr. Kincaid.”

Malcolm narrowed his gaze. Her ready agreement was suspicious, but he’d made his decision. “Malcolm,” he muttered.

Her eyebrows lifted in surprise. Then she smiled, and Malcolm’s gut clenched. The curve of that lower lip was going to be the death of him.

“All right, Malcolm.” She unfolded her arms to extend her hand. “And you may call me Alexandra.”

Malcolm knew he shouldn’t take her hand. Not there in the dark while she stood in nothing but a towel, not when desire ran rampant through his blood at the simple sight of her. But she kept her hand extended and lifted a brow as though in challenge.
He took her hand in his, noting its softness and how easily it became folded up in his larger grip. His bicep tensed with the urge to give a quick and forceful tug so she’d tumble toward him until her breasts flattened against his chest, her thighs bumped his, and her breath spread across his throat. It’d be so easy to take her in his arms and claim her mouth.

But she was innocent and far too trusting—not to mention way the hell out of his class—and Malcolm had never taken anything from a woman that wasn’t freely given. Miss Brighton was not for him.

Oblivious to his train of thought, she gave a surprisingly firm handshake. Her smile never wavered as she declared, “You won’t regret this. I promise.”

Malcom released her hand and stepped back. “Be downstairs by seven o’clock tomorrow.”

“I will. Thank you, Malcolm.”

“And ask who’s at your door before you open the damned thing.”

Malcolm held his position until the door closed and he heard the lock click into place. Then he stalked down the hall to his own room, taking slow breaths to rein in his body’s fierce and unwelcome craving. He’d need to see to his own relief tonight. There was no way he was going to start on the trail with that woman wound as tight as he was.

Not if he hoped to survive the journey.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Decided to DNF Too Quickly

Hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl

I have a confession to make.

I’m the sort of reader who makes quick judgements about books. If they don’t grab my attention in first chapter, there’s a high chance I won’t finish them at all. Sometimes I even decide for sure to DNF after a few pages if the story includes something that I really don’t like.

Sometimes this is a good thing. In other cases, I have made judgements about tales that I later enjoyed quite a bit when I decided to give them another chance.

1. The Magicians by Lev Grossman.

This was originally described to me as “Harry Potter for adults,” so I was surprised by how non-magical the beginning was. The first time I read it, I assumed the opening scenes were a good approximation of what the rest of the storyline was about.

It wasn’t until I began watching the TV show based on this book that I realized just how much the plot changed only a few scenes later. I’m so glad I gave this one another chance.

2. The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.

It took me a few tries to get through this book due to all of the terrible things that happened to the Joad family. There were only so many setbacks and examples of injustice against poor people during the Great Depression I could take before I would give up again, although the ending made me very glad I kept trying to finish it.

3. Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice.

The thought of interviewing a creature as dangerous and unpredictable as a vampire blew my mind the first time I heard of it. It took me a couple of tries to get through the slower pace of the beginning of this story before it started to pay off.

4. The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown.

I’m pretty particular about the types of thrillers I read, and this one didn’t grab my attention the first time I attempted to read it. After hearing so many people rave about it, I eventually decided to keeping going at least a few chapters into it. Now I’m glad I made that decision. This was such a fun way to pass the time when I wanted something light.

The Host by Stephenie Meyer.

To be honest with you, I wasn’t a huge fan of this author’s previous books. There was something about The Host that interested me, but it took two tries before I finally finished it. I needed some extra time to adjust to the idea of two different consciousnesses inhabiting the same body, although it was worth it in the end.

6. Native Son by Richard Wright.

The reason why I had so much trouble finishing this tale is because I saw the ending coming from a mile away. I loved the writing and plot, but I also dreaded the thought of the main character, Bigger Thomas, meeting the fate I was pretty sure he was going to find by the final scene.

7. The World According to Garp by John Irving.

This tale began with a selfish, criminal decision the main character’s mother made. I was so disappointed in her for making it that it turned me off from finding out how it turned out for her and the child that resulted from that choice for a long time.

8. Angela’s Ashes by Frank McCourt.

There’s only so much pain I can handle in a story. This one had so much of it that I kept needing to step away from it for very long periods of time before starting again at the beginning. Eventually, it was nice to know how everything ended, though.

9. The Bridges of Madison Country by Robert James Waller.

Once again, this was a case of a character making such an awful mistake that I had trouble pushing through that scene to find out how things ended for her.

10. Under the Dome by Stephen King.

As I’ve mentioned in previous Top Ten Tuesday posts, I like Stephen King’s work in general. But this was one of his stories that I struggled to keep reading. It took me a while to finally finish it due to how sad I felt for the characters as they ran out of food and other supplies.
