Kayden, prince of Zenith, the land of the setting sun, found his soulmate long ago. Her imagination and spirit has long fed his magic, but the time has come for him to collect his voluptuous bride. Can he convince her that some dreams are so powerful, they can become reality so he can finally taste her Magical Curves?

Emily Flowers loves going to sleep. She knows her dreams will be filled with wonder and the sexy dream-man who always waits for her. Despite the magical wonders of his world that Prince Kayden constantly showed her, Emily struggled to believe even in her dreams he could want her. Plain, chubby, boring her. And when her doubts crowded her mind, she always woke up, alone and in the real world. But there are always darker sides to magical places, political plots and secrets held deep. Emily and Kayden will need to work together in love and trust to overcome the obstacles in their path.

Readers who love their Fantasy mixed in with romance will really enjoy this. This story is full of a magical, alternate reality, princes and magic and secret political plots, backstabbing, evil princesses and all sorts of fantastic adventures. I also really enjoyed how the author mingled this magical, fantasy world with our modern reality. Emily is here, a modern woman with all the usual insecurities and issues, and discovering her magical dream-prince and the dream-world is reality is a massive part of the plot that is intricately woven. I struggled a little with the fact so many of the major characters in Emily’s life were “plants” (i.e. people deliberately sent to look over her), it felt a little over-the-top and set up, but not so much as to stop me wanting to know what happened next.

This story has a very strong set of secondary characters, and for once I wasn’t entirely sure of which side (good or evil) some of them were. I found these characters to be deliciously complex and not pure good or pure evil. Like regular people, they were more complex than that, and I found this really refreshing. The plot was simple in some respects (get the girl, marry and take over the kingdom) but really that’s not doing the story justice. There’s so much more to it, believing in yourself and your partner, doing the honorable thing, even learning who to trust and how to balance work, play and duty. This is a very intricate book and one I’ll thoroughly enjoy re-reading to get more out of it.

Readers who like complex characters, intricate plots and a bit of magic will really enjoy this. I’d even recommend pure fantasy readers who are also interested in romance to give it a try. The sex scenes are detailed but not offensive, and spicy enough to lure erotica readers into trying something different. I think this really is the kind of book that has something for many genre readers and is sure to sate the need for a really well paced, well plotted story. Recommended.

Brides of the Kindred Book One—Claimed

Olivia Waterhouse has just graduated from nursing school and has her whole life ahead of her—until she gets drafted. Problem is, she isn’t being forced into the Army, she’s been chosen as a Kindred bride.

The Kindred are huge alien warriors—a race of genetic traders whose population is ninety-five percent male. After saving Earth from the threat of invasion they demand a reward—the right to find brides among the population. The chances of being chosen are about the same as those of winning the lottery—guess it’s just Liv’s lucky day.

The original sequence give a better rendition of the brothers’ compelling again story. no rx levitra While there is a need for a better solution for suffers of view for more info generic cialis australia snoring, there are some modalities doctors have been turning to that have shown to work. Baird is a Beast Kindred who recently escaped imprisonment and torture at the hands of the malevolent Scourge. Through the torment and pain only one thing kept him sane—the thought of finding and claiming his bride—Olivia. His need to possess her is a burning intensity that threatens to consume them both.

Angry at having her future and her family taken away from her, Liv vows to fight back the only way she can—by resisting. She has one month on the Kindred Mothership with Baird—their claiming period. If she can keep from having bonding sex with him during that time, she can go home and get on with her life on Earth.

But Baird isn’t going to make it easy for her. Every week he is allowed to touch Liv more and more intimately and according to the contract she signed, she has to let him. She’s determined to resist him but his touch sets her on fire. And just as she thinks she knows what she wants, a twist of fate and an attack by the faceless Scourge AllFather changes everything…

This little book hits the ground running with action and suspense. Lexa only thought she was getting away from it all with a trip off her home world.

There were parts of this book that made me laugh out loud. First, Lexa’s mother is a Lawmaker, and that even that fact doesn’t help Lexa when it all goes south. Second, the quick hand of justice was on a speeding train. It took them all of fifteen minutes for a trial, sentence and judgment. I’m sure most judicial systems would love to be able to do that.

Lexa isn’t a bad sort of young lady, sassy and not easily led to follow the “in-crowd”. When she’s caught in a situation, not entirely of her making, she’ll have to pull some strength from way down deep in order to survive.

And for the record, thirty days or death, really what kind of sentence is that? On the run for her life she meets two males both in the middle of their own sentences. Roan is pretty easy to look at and easy to figure out. His whole philosophy on the prison term? Run or Die… period. Jenner, he was little more complex, sexy hot in a weird kind of way and very confident in his abilities to make Lexa “weak in her knees”.

This read was short and to the point but with a serious cliff-hanger. The story reminded me a little of the movie “The Running Man”. Besides being a cliff-hanger the only negative I’d mention is the characters could have used a bit more meat to them. Readers who are expecting a true ménage should be aware that while they both claimed Lexa, they didn’t “claim” her together.

The premise was interesting and I wanted to see how they survived their sentence. I knew there would be team work but these three take it to another level. I love Sci-Fi so, for me, it was a fun read and I’d recommend it to others who enjoy action, suspense, red hot sex and a bit of sharing.

Although Ophelia Garrett loved Cade Scott first, it was her sister he married and took home to his plantation. When Ophelia receives word of her sister’s murder and Cade’s arrest, she travels there on a mission to learn the truth. She soon finds the halls of Almenara are haunted by secrets, peril, and quite possibly her sister’s ghost.

Despite the cold, angry man Cade has become, Ophelia’s heart refuses to believe he is a murderer. Vowing to do everything she can to prove his innocence, Ophelia must open wounds she’d hoped were long healed and face the feelings that still burn between her and Cade. As everyone looks to Cade as the suspect, evil haunts the dunes and halls of Almenara, bringing death to two more young women and forcing Ophelia to confront the danger.

Ophelia was betrayed by the two people she loved most.

Ophelia is a sweet young woman who has every reason to be angry with her late sister and her brother-in-law, Cade. The first time she falls in love, her sister swoops in and steals the man away from her. My curiosity was immediately piqued. I wanted know what could have possibly induced Cade to marry Desdemona when he was clearly in love with Ophelia and then cut Ophelia out of their lives entirely. I eagerly dove into the pages searching for an explanation. The truth behind Desdemona’s betrayal is dreadful.

I have a lot of respect for Ophelia. Desdemona’s betrayal regarding Cade was simply the last in a long line of offenses she committed. It took a lot of courage to go to her sister’s funeral, investigate the murder, and face the man she once loved. It took even more courage to examine herself and acknowledge the very small part she played in the tragedy. I do think that Ophelia is a little too hard on herself. Desdemona and Cade are adults and clearly responsible for their own actions.

Ophelia is heart broken when she learns how unhappy Desdemona’s life had been. However, I had a very hard time sympathizing with Desdemona’s plight. Desdemona struck me as a cruel woman who rarely thought of anyone but herself. She used people and then tossed them aside when she was done. Her tragic situation was entirely of her own making. I couldn’t really sympathize with Cade either. I understand that Ophelia was called away from him when their romance was still young, but no one forced him to find comfort in the arms of Desdemona.

Ms. Marlow did a good job of weaving the mystery surrounding Desdemona’s death. There were a lot of plausible suspects. In fact, there were so many suspects that the sheriff’s insistence that Cade killed Desdemona as well as the other young women is completely ridiculous. With such an abundance of suspects, I was on the edge of my seat, and I didn’t figure it out until the very end.

Overall, I enjoyed reading When Swallows Fall. Its pages are filled with heartbreak, mystery, and love. Anyone looking for a story of tragedy and romance of Shakespearean proportions should give When Swallows Fall a try.

Daniel is training to become a shaman and living on the Dakota reservation with his grandfather. As a member of the thunderbird people, he can visit a shared dream world and meet others like himself. Over summer break, he takes a road trip to New Orleans to rescue a sixteen-year-old girl from the Dark Tree Coven. Daniel knows he’s going to be grounded, but promises his cousins that the adventure will be worth the punishment.

Having a talent isn’t the same thing as knowing how to use it.

The character development in this story is phenomenal. Daniel’s earlier adventures acknowledged how all of his painful experience in life have shaped in personality, but this sequel stitched those memories together in ways that I often didn’t see coming. It was especially interesting to see how his interpretation of certain events has changed over time given how much they affected his mood and behavior in the past.

At first I was a little thrown off by the pacing. Given how quickly things moved in the first book in this series, Messenger, I wasn’t expecting to slow down and spend so much time getting to know the secondary characters in the sequel. Once everything began to congeal together I understood why the author made this decision, but it is something I would have liked to know about ahead of time.

Daniel didn’t have much exposure to his Dakota relatives growing up, so it was fascinating to see him explore that side of his family tree. I wasn’t familiar with the legends or traditions of that tribe. While the plot can be easily understood with the details already provided in it, I was so curious about that aspect of Daniel’s life that I ended up hunting down a few outside sources to learn more once I finished the last chapter.

Read Messenger before diving into this one. While the author briefly recaps the most important things that have happened so far, there are so many people, creatures, and otherworldly beings in this universe that certain references are much easier to understand if you know everything that has been revealed about their backstories so far.

Once again it took me a while to figure out the best age recommendation, but this time it isn’t a strict one. The darker themes of Messenger have been intensified in the sequel. Daniel’s anger, sorrow, and guilt are woven into his journey incredibly well, but some of the ways he copes with these things are intense. Exercise causation when passing this story on to 12 and 13 year olds, and I definitely wouldn’t suggest it to anyone younger than that.

Shaman is one of the most entertaining young adult novels I’ve read so far this year. This is a great choice for anyone who likes role-playing games or other similarly imaginative hobbies.

Adrift in a lifeboat with strangers, each holding a deep secret…

Together they face danger after danger as they fight for survival. Leah also struggles with the growing attention from the men she’s stranded with, and her mixed emotions toward them.

When Leah learns the dark secrets her fellow survivors hold, the truth will blow apart any semblance of civility and test Leah’s preconceived notions of just how far dedication can go before it crosses over into fanaticism.

Deep Green’s greatest moments are in the incredible descriptions of the ocean, of a world apart from normal life, and the beauty of a rare perspective. Although the descriptions are well done, the action is what will keep you reading. Teen Leah ends up in a lifeboat, struggling to survive among strangers. They are all distinct, different people, with different attitudes and beliefs. Together, they confront an ocean full of dangers, uncomfortable truths … but coping ‘together’ is a challenge. They struggle for basic survival – their plight is physically challenging; but also more. Leah finds herself drawn to two of the other survivors, and finds herself torn between the two.

In the face of circumstances, readers will find themselves wondering about the fate of those on the cruise ship, Leah’s parents and other family; it seems unrealistic that Leah is thrust into a ‘personal growth’ story that includes potential romance, in the face of such worry and potential/probably heartache. Although well-written, this aspect was a distraction throughout the story.

Leah, who started off as a bit of a smart-alec teen, copes with the men, the boat, and their eventual landfall, with growing courage. She’s a wonderful character, not supremely confident, but driven by the desire to do the right thing. Overall, this is very readable and events are unpredictable.

Piper Frost is taking a break from men when contractor Chad Thomas crashes her cooking class and turns on the charm. His persistence annoys her but she’s already melting, even without his sneaky mother and conspiring twins in the mix. But just when things are really starting to sizzle, disaster strikes. Can Piper save her recipe for happily ever after or is it already ruined? Grab your oven mitts and find out.

Just as Piper, at long last, realizes Chad has gotten under her skin, I’m betting you will realize at the end of the novel that you’ve become very fond of Piper and Chad.

I took me a while to get into the story. The first few pages weren’t too promising. I felt Chad’s advances were too ‘stalkerish’, and at the same time Piper’s rejections were too cold and aggressive. However, once Piper relented and decided hanging out with his family was not such a terrible thing after all, their dynamics shifted and their chemistry felt more apparent. Their characters became more pronounced and their motives clearer and more reasonable once their backgrounds were explained.

I was charmed by Chad’s family, both his twins and his mother. They were all a nice comic relief without being stock figures. Apart from that, they also managed to show deeper nuances of Piper’s character through their interactions with her; this was especially true of the children. Piper’s best friend Joy was also indispensable for the story, functioning almost like a catalyst with her constant jibes at Piper, and then ultimately making Piper realize she’s no better than Mick whom she’s blamed for a lot of problems in her life.

The pace of the story was just right, aided by the fact that Chad’s and Piper’s dates were never dull, instead they always involved some unusual activity and fun company. It was thrilling to watch them fighting their emotions, especially when Piper’s resistance and Chad’s misinterpretation of a situation led to a critical point in the story that was fraught with angst. It took Piper a long time to recognize her feelings, but her development seemed believable.

Caution: Filling is Hot is both a story of love at first sight and a story about stubborn denial. It’s a story about passion and devotion. It’s also a story about healing and overcoming tragic loss and grief.

Who doesn’t like a bad boy? I know I do, and Guy Jensen fit just the type. He was crude, a womanizer, and kind of a jerk, albeit a nicer one. That made Guy all the more appealing for me. Behind his “I don’t intend to change my life for anyone, I screw women and get drunk and love it” persona was also a sweet, hard-working and angsty hero.

Once in a Lifetime starts out with a sizzle and Sam Crescent maintains that hot tempo throughout the story. However, there were several extremely distracting editing mistakes. For instance, things like “Guy was still stood there,” or “they were still stood”. It was annoying. Furthermore, at times I had trouble figuring out who was speaking.

Emily Langnor, the heroine is a hard-working, burned-in-the-past woman. She doesn’t want to fall for Guy but as the chemistry between them soars, she finds that it’s impossible. I found Emily a nice enough character but from my point of view it’s Guy who carries the weight of the novel. His inner battle as he falls in love is worth reading.

Though the sex between the characters is hot, I found that the romantic gestures between the characters were the ones that warmed my heart the most. For instance, one of the parts I liked best was when Guy takes Emily to his favorite spot and tells her that frowning is prohibited. It made me sigh like a love-struck teenager.

All in all, I found that, editing mistakes aside, Once in a Lifetime was a pleasant read.

Immortality is supposed to be one of the perks of being a god, so what happens when this isn’t the case?

Every chapter begins with one or more quotes from television shows, books, signs, and interviews that take place within this universe. This was a clever way to introduce new scenes to the audience without relying too heavily on exposition. More than once it made me wish that I could actually read or watch the piece of entertainment that was being referenced!

I would have liked to see more character development during the course of this novel, especially when it came to the humans who found themselves wrapped up in the affairs of the gods. Many of these mortals had fascinating backstories, but so much time was spent on other matters that I sometimes had trouble seeing how those experiences influenced their current predicaments.

The list and brief biographies of Greek gods at the end was an incredibly helpful tool for me. The cast is quite large even for a full-length novel, and without this reference I would have mixed some of the less prominent ones up over time. Readers who are familiar with more obscure gods might not need it, but I’d encourage anyone who isn’t well-versed on this subject to give the glossary some attention before beginning the first chapter.

It would have been helpful to have a similar list for all of the human characters as well. There were so many of them drifting in and out of the main plot that I had trouble remembering their backstories. I ended up compiling my own list of them, and I’d recommend that other readers do the same thing.

Strong, even pacing as well as the narrator’s tendency to inject a splash of tongue-in-cheek humor into even the fiercest fight scenes made me feel like I was watching a superhero movie inside of my mind. This is a heavily plot-based story. Given the tendency for so many of the gods to act larger than life, though, this technique worked well.

I’d particularly recommend Zeus Is Dead: A Monstrously Inconvenient Adventure to anyone who likes super heroes or comic books.

Or maybe not, considering her ID is forged. If she thinks to lie to him, she’ll learn better. He’s the Enforcer of Dark Haven—his discipline is absolute, his punishments harsh, and his heart untouched…until now.

Sigh. I have a book hangover and it’s all Cherise Sinclair’s fault. For me, Edge of the Enforcer was one of those novels that I just couldn’t put down.

When I opened my file, the first thing that caught my attention (besides the hot cover) was an author’s note: a personal word from Ms. Sinclair to her readers. It made my heart swell and made me feel cared for.

My amazement didn’t end there, however. As I stepped into the novel I fell hopelessly in love with the Enforcer and Lindsey. The Enforcer, Zander deVries, is a sadist Dom, direct, crude, a bit of a bastard at times and yet, he’s so, so alluring. It could be his rare smile, his huge heart, his bravery, or that he knows when to step up and apologize. Regardless of what exactly it is, all I know is that I was in love with him from page one.

With Lindsey on the other hand, I cried. My heart went out to her. She’s in big trouble and as the author reveals bits and pieces about her and took me on Lindsey’s journey I truly felt for her. The Texan woman was not only sweet, with a warm and caring personality, she was brave; she was fearless through her fear.

The secondary characters I also loved, though I have to admit that maybe at times I found them too amazing. I wish I had friends like those: dominant Doms eager to protect me and their wives/girlfriends that would be by my side no matter what.

I don’t want to unravel too much of the plot, but Edge of the Enforcer is not only an extremely hot love story, part of its charm is that it has a solid suspense sub-plot. Like I mentioned earlier, Ms. Sinclair drew me into the story progressively, until I found that I couldn’t put the book down without my thoughts automatically turning back to Zander and Lindsey. Furthermore, the author describes beautifully. I was right there with the characters more than once: from dancing on the dance floor, to lying still under Zander’s command, to agonizing over certain matters.

Edge of the Enforcer is 334 pages but if you’re like me, you’ll zip through them and crave for more. A fantastic read that I will be re-reading again, no doubt.

Her redemptive work with society’s ex-convicts and her personal counseling with vulnerable women has created many enemies in the resort town of Lake Geneva, WI. Lenora’s colleague and good friend, Jennifer Trevor, intends to see that Lenora’s sniper is brought to justice, even if it means making deadly enemies herself.

Bullet in the Night is a fast-paced action thriller which had me captured from the first paragraph. Jennifer Trevor hears that Lenora Lawrence, her good friend and fellow psychologist, has been shot by a sniper. I liked Jennifer. She is a quick thinking, smart, kind person who would never give up on a friend. She refuses to let Lenora’s husband railroad one of Lenora’s clients, Kirk, an ex-convict, into the role of murderer. Something just doesn’t seem right to Jennifer and she is determined to discover the truth, no matter what the cost to her personally.

The plot is intricate and very complex. There are myriad possible suspects and Jennifer must work carefully to find the truth. Every time I thought I’d pegged the murderer, then I’d learn something else which caused me to shift my ideas. I didn’t finally figure things out until the very end, just as Jennifer herself put the pieces together. The author gave her readers all the appropriate clues, but there were so many ways to read those clues that I was on the edge of my seat right to the end.

My only issue with the novel is that it is very heavily Christian. Prayer and Biblical references abound, especially as the novel progresses. I admit this is a personal bias as I am not a Christian, but I felt that these references were distracting and interfered with the pacing of the novel. This is such a great mystery, one which I couldn’t put down, that I solved my issues by skipping all the paragraphs that switched into religious mode. And it is only a guess, but I suspect that the heavy-handiness of the references might be off-putting to other readers as well.

Nevertheless, the story is a dynamite one and well worth pursuing. I recommend it to any readers who like a challenging mystery. This one is a real page turner.
