All Ivy had ever wanted was a safe, secure life with no drama. Now she was working in an adult theme park where visitors came to role-play their wildest imaginings. She reminded herself to stay focused on her job and to ignore everything else. The reminders didn’t work. One man drew her. Murmur was every erotic dream she’d tried to repress, every deliciously dangerous temptation she said she didn’t need. Her instinct suggested that this was a man who walked in darkness. She ignored the warning.

But Murmur was more than what he seemed. A powerful demon, he used his evil gift to destroy as well as seduce. In desiring him, Ivy had opened herself to a menace born centuries ago—one that would risk both their lives and betray the promises made with every one of his…

I adore the Castle of Dark Dreams. There is always interesting mayhem, hunky tortured heroes in need of saving and a couple of Cosmic Troublemakers to keep the stories from taking themselves too seriously. Ms. Bangs does serve up a satisfying assortment of drama, suspense, double-cross and general spookiness but it’s balanced with a delightful sense of quirkiness, naughty and sometimes suggestive humor or outright knee slapping hilarity. Every book has a troublemaker and every tale has a romance but other than that, they always seem to surprise me with the author’s creative imagination. Each novel is unique and Wicked Whispers carries on that fine storytelling tradition.

Murmur’s signature T.V. game show should be Name that Tune – win and die. He’s a demon and his music kills. He doesn’t sound like the ideal candidate for a hero, does he. Let me assure you, he’s perfect. He has feelings that are new to him because he’s been topside on Earth too long. It was fun watching him see-saw between wanting to feel, not wanting, interested in what they mean and afraid of what they might mean. The poor guy was all over the place until one fateful night he got more ‘feelings’ then he was prepared to handle. He met Ivy. She drove him nuts and yet she intrigued him. He thought it was bad before but with Ivy on the scene, emotions and urges bombarded him and the results were often sweet, sometimes smoking hot and other moments were just plain funny. How could I not like him?

Ivy was a terrific heroine. She has family and is loyal. She has a great work ethic and experiencing weirdness, like having a spiderfest, didn’t seem to faze her at all. Then again, when a reader finds out about her family history, I suppose that explains a lot. It sure made her fascinating and a perfect partner for a music demon. She was a sweet heroine to get to know and I enjoyed how the author put her in all kinds of predicaments to see how she’d react. Add in her feisty internal dialogue and I found the book vastly entertaining.

That’s the thing with most books written by Ms. Bangs. Her dialogue is usually crisp, with fast repartee that includes great puns and social references that flow naturally between her characters. It’s like a reader is in on an inside joke.

Music has the power to sooth the savage beast but in this book it has a way of making a woman swoon, pant and generally feel like she’s had the best release ever. However, it’s not as it first appeared and I was wow’d by the concept. Ivy is no pushover and she gives Murmur a what-for. I do so love a spunky heroine.

Secondary characters are integral to the plot conflict and that includes Bain. After reading this novel, I’m pretty sure he’s going to be in dire need of a Cosmic Troublemaker assist because his happy ever after is in a pickle. The dude got shocked with a capital “S” and in a most spectacular fashion. It’s a great hook for his future story and I can’t wait to read how in the world Ms. Bangs is going to fix his ‘whoops!”.

Zane is back. He’s another character that populates the Castle of Dark Dreams and although his role is small as a secondary personality, his potential is huge. The dynamics between him and his dad are always an attention grabber. Again, he helps with the hero and heroine and doesn’t undermine the focus of the story. It’s just always nice to see him because someday, the spotlight will be on him.

As for the bad guys and the conflict, all I have to say is, ‘very cool’. I never suspected a thing until Ivy started noticing some inconsistencies. The battle was part scary and part fun. I guess it has something to do with who was doing the fighting and how it took place. Like I said, Ms. Bangs has a great imagination and the story is very entertaining because of it.

Read Wicked Whispers if you’re in the mood for fun and chaos with a little loving on the side. The happily ever after is sweet and true to character and the hijinks between Asima and Sparkle should induce a few giggles. This is a great book to spend some time with and relax.

Dear Sir,

. . . I feel I should inform you that your mother is very ill. If you wish to see her before it is too late, you should come at once.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Camilla Stuart

Pierce Waverly, the Earl of Devonmont, has led an unabashed rogue’s life, letting no woman near his heart. Inexplicably abandoned as a child to be raised by distant relatives, he never forgave his parents, refusing to read any of his mother’s letters after his father’s death. Then came a letter that shook his resolve. A Christmas visit to Montcliff might prove his last chance to discover the truth of his past, and come to terms with the stranger he calls “Mother.”

But two surprises await him at Montcliff. His mother is perfectly healthy, nowhere near a deathbed, as her meddling lady’s companion led him to believe. The second is Camilla Stuart herself, a lively vicar’s widow, too bright and beautiful not to arouse the scoundrel in Pierce. Though she alone is reason enough to prolong his stay, he is soon faced with other tantalizing riddles: What secrets lie in his mother’s past to explain his childhood abandonment? Why is the captivating Mrs. Stuart so determined to mend the breach between mother and son? Meanwhile,

Camilla herself is caught up in love’s complications since the arrival of the irresistible earl. As his bold flirtation and suggestive whispers draw her dangerously close, can anything protect her vulnerable heart? If they are destined to share real happiness, there must be honesty between them—yet telling him the truth about her own life may shatter that chance.

None of them can predict the startling revelations to come. Or the secrets, both heartening and shocking, divulged between a mother and son, and between two lovers haunted by their respective pasts, that will make Christmas night at Montcliff one to remember—and the glorious night after, one to treasure for a lifetime.

This book starts off heartbreaking and sad. It’s the set up for what comes later. Why the hero is as he is, the thawing that takes place from the clues and revelations that slowly bombard him as he comes to the realization that his whole life is based on a mistruth; and how the diabolical hatred of one man can have a domino effect on so many people. It’s going to take a daring woman full of innocence, hot passions and a secret of her own to accomplish the impossible. This book is the story of Pierce and how he discovers the true meaning of love. It all starts when his life gets tossed upside down by a simple letter from a very proper lady named Mrs. Camilla Stuart. What follows is a story far from proper, thoroughly entertaining and a real treat for this romance book fan.

‘Twas the Night after Christmas is a character driven novel. I like how the author set up the atmosphere amongst the main players. I enjoyed the secondary characters that revolve around the hero and heroine. Some were there to propel the plot, to interject doubts and jealousy, or provided a charming and heartwarming element that helped to reach the hero on a level even he couldn’t have predicted.

I also thought the inclusion of the poem of St. Nick was cute. It actually plays a key role in the story and the author wielded it in a delightful manner that touched the sentimental marshmallow inside me.

To say this story comes with a few surprises is an understatement. Holiday stories usually include miracles because they seem to occur and be the most poignant during this time of year. Ms. Jeffries certainly provided some astonishing wide-eyed moments and one of them gave me goose bumps- in a good way.

Speaking of which, the character of Jasper was a stroke of genius. The author used him as a catalyst for reaching those cold spots inside of Pierce and it was quite effective. I will find it hard to believe that any reader could be unmoved by the scenes in which Jasper and Pierce are together. It was a terrific emotional touch and handled superbly by Ms. Jeffries.

The dialogue was well coordinated, the saucy bits between Pierce and Camilla were so very daring and absolutely fun, and the naughty version of the poem is hysterical, well as far as Pierce was allowed to quote it. I completely enjoyed the sense of humor that was sprinkled throughout the book because it made the hero and heroine seem reachable and real. I liked getting to know them.

‘Twas the Night after Christmas is a book worth reading not only during the holiday season but any time of the year when you need a tale that has the power to lift the blues and chase away the glums. It’s a wonderful people story and it revolves around a man and woman a reader can care about by virtue of the high quality of writing that Ms. Jeffries employs to bring her characters to life. It’s a romance I highly recommend reading to not only fans of this author but anyone who enjoys a novel that embraces and explores the healing power of love and the art of a good bargain.

Dominance. Submission. Murder. And that’s just before lunch.

New York, Book 2

Homicide detective Brice Marshall’s current case has him stymied and frustrated. A serial killer is slaughtering young women. After a long, fruitless day poring over the most gruesome evidence he’s ever seen, he needs a break.

Stepping into his cousin’s BDSM club is a reminder that there is another part of himself. A part that has been left empty in a life ruled by work. The fact is, he’s a Dom in search of a sub. When he bumps into Terryn, a slender redhead who’s new to the scene, her wide-eyed eagerness even in the face of her nerves attracts him like gravity.

Terryn is the sub of his dreams, with the power to ease his soul. Without warning the murder case reaches ugly tentacles into the most private part of his world—the woman he wants to claim as his own. The woman whose stubborn search for the delicate balance between sub life and independence could put her directly in the path of the killer.

Who doesn’t like a little bondage with their coffee? I’ll take mine with a dose of mystery and a dollop of whipped cream thank you very much.

Damaged Goods was a fast read that had me hooked within a few pages. The murder investigation of girls who all worked at a coffee shop was intense and had a very real feeling to it. So was Terryn, a feisty red head’s foray into the BDSM lifestyle. The scene with the detective finding her at the club was super hot and the in depth description of the color coded collaring system was very well done.

The back and forth between Kent and his partner Brice threw me for a little bit until I realized this was the second book in a series. (New York, Book 2) After I understood there was some backstory, the book flowed well and I wasn’t lost any longer.

Brice is a Dom searching for his perfect sub. When he bumps into Terryn at his cousin’s BDSM club, sparks fly and get even more heated when she lands right in the middle of his murder investigation. The sex is mega hot. The bondage hotter and when Gage, a hunky Dom from Texas makes an entrance, I found myself practically drooling on my iPad. Uber hot ménage scenes that will be in your dreams for at least a few nights. Promise.

The murder investigation portion of the book was also well done. It bounced back and forth with the BDSM club, the rec center and the coffee shop, lending a well-rounded feel to the book. The dialog was natural, the action perfect and the sex scenes were scorching.

If you are up for some time well spent with some Doms that need a little love, then this book is for you. Take a walk on the wild side. Just make sure you ask for a nice salted caramel mocha to keep you company for this BDSM edged murder mystery. You won’t be sleeping until the last page is devoured.

It’s not easy being a Vampire Angel

No one knows that better than Trond Sigurdsson. In the centuries since he last went out drinking and wenching with his Viking buds, Trond has been a gladiator, a cowboy, a ditch digger…even a sheik. But now he’s the baddest of them all: a kick-butt Navy SEAL kicking butts of terrorist immortals with the help of his hotter-than-Hades female partner, police officer-turned-Special Forces operative Nicole Tasso—whom Trond dearly hopes to “partner” with very shortly in a whole different way.

It’s not easy being a Vangel’s lover

The “cop” part of Nicole tells her there’s something bizarre about her gorgeous godlike teammate. But her “all-woman” side can’t help wondering how great it would be to have a virile Viking in her bed. Trond has secrets galore, but Nicole feels certain she can dig them out—and really get to the heart of this powerful, unnerving stranger whom she may be risking her soul to love.

How does a man, inherently lazy, a slacker and a jokester ever become a convincing Navy SEAL? When a guy has the right motivation, has one of God’s warriors on his back and the penalties for failure is, literally, hell.

A reader initially meets Trond Sigurdsson at his most unmotivated – unwashed, uncaring and the term lazy is an understatement. His crime of sloth was very serious because he held a position of importance. To do those things meant others paid the price. The cost was such that he became one chosen to become a Vangel. Unlucky for him, lucky for me because his story to redemption was nothing short of fascinating.

I reviewed the blurb before writing this review and I don’t believe it does justice to the richness and seriousness that flavor this book. At first Trond and Nicole hate each other and their confrontations are full of verbal sparring and clever taunts. Trond even bit her on her apple. Their exchanges are truly entertaining and I enjoyed their reactions to each other. Their gradual growth, from intense dislike, to awareness as man and woman and then onto building trust to ultimately depending on each other for life and limb made for a gripping story. There wasn’t a slow spot in the novel.

Nicole was a strong character. She didn’t think so and a reader understands after the author revealed what the heroine went through. Nicole was her own worst critic but she doesn’t hide the truth from herself. She tried, oh yes she did, but eventually, Trond’s inherent yumminess won her over and she had to admit that she finally succumbed to loving a person – the very kind she’d sworn never to get involved with again. But she never met a man like Trond before. The more she learned about him, the more questions she wanted answered because the hero was a mystery to her. As readers know, with good reason. The process of getting to know the hero meant I got to see her grow as a person. I liked her character.

Once again, Jasper, the ultimate villain and sexual sadist, has a plan. It’s as vile and as topical as one would wish. That being said, I was amazed as to the political references made in this book. There is no possible way that Ms. Hill could have predicted how some points in her storyline followed the happenings in real life. When I read this book, it was around 9/11 and the similarities were eerily accurate. It was freaky. Because of it, reading the story made me a bit uncomfortable because it gave an element of reality to the atmosphere of the story. Because it made it feel real, it scared me.

Another hard hitting revelation for me, and I’m sure quite unintended by the author, is the possible reality of the theory that every soul has the potential to be saved. I refer to villain assistant, Zeb. Once I read the ending of this novel, I had the strangest feeling. I’m aware of Christian dogma and the theme that encompasses the story of Saul turned Paul. That a man who persecuted the early Christians with zeal and fanaticism and was dead set on destroying any and all he came across, could somehow be saved, changed and become a believer and proponent of the forgiveness of God. I came away from this reading experience with a shivery sensation – that no matter how vile, evil and depraved a person may be, and perpetrates acts that offend our values and beliefs, it ultimately is not our place on this earth to judge a person’s ability to be redeemed, saved and find their way back into Grace. I’ve heard the He sees into our souls where no mortal has a clue and whether Ms. Hill meant to or not, she taught me to let go. Or at least try. It made me realize it’s not my burden to carry; the burden to condemn others and call them irredeemable because of what they’ve done. I refer to the terrorists because in this story, the author surly voiced what a lot of people feel. And yet, there is Zeb. Zeb is her Saul. I’m really looking forward to seeing what she’ll do with his character in the future. When she does, it’ll be an auto-buy. The author has created a compelling situation that begs to be explored. I hope she does.

Back to the overall story of Kiss of Surrender. I heartily recommend it for all Sandra Hill fans and anyone who is enjoying the latest hot genre of angels versus demons. Trond really is a sweetheart in spite of all his failings. Love has a way of smoothing out the most bumbling of sinners and the power of it is effectively explored. I think Nicole and Trond make a sizzling couple and the sensual build up was extra hot because they try so hard to not succumb. There is the classic sense of humor and clever word play that is the signature of every adventure that Ms. Hill writes and this one continues the legacy. Ms. Hill also provided a wonderful and exciting surprise – some characters from her Viking series showed up and it was awesome to see some of them again. It caused some serious ear to ear grinning.

Ms. Hill has a vibrant and powerful storytelling voice and it comes through loud and clear in Kiss of Surrender. It’s a must read.

A sexy cop with a broken heart is about to be taught a lesson.

Hope Marlow is a twenty-two-year-old seasoned vet when it comes to steamy one-night stands. Hope has had a hard life. From the wrong side of the tracks and abandoned by her mother, she finds herself trying to raise her little sister on a salary that barely pays the bills each month. She’s tough, jaded, but when she’s pulled over one sweltering summer afternoon for not using her turn signal, she meets her match in a sexually inexperienced cop twice her age.

The day Jack Malone stopped Hope is one he can’t forget. It’s more than the way she looked in the miniskirt and hot pink tank top, it’s her confidence that keeps coming back to haunt him. But Jack is still reeling from his wife’s death a year ago, and Hope represents things he thinks he can’t have with a woman—passion and a new beginning. Plus, there’s the fact that she’s practically half his age.

Hope sees things differently. The age difference doesn’t bother her, but while Jack craves an emotional connection, Hope has no interest in that. She’s an expert at pushing her emotions aside, and she knows that if Jack would let her, she could teach him how fulfilling lust alone can be. With that in mind, she sets out to seduce the sexy cop.

It’s only during their first night of passion that they both discover how much they’ve been missing.

Hope Marlow has never had it easy. Her life is a hard mess. She lives in a trailer park next door to a crack head, all while playing the role of mother to her younger sister. For a twenty-two year old, she’s dealt with more than what most have to deal with. Hope was both, strong and vulnerable. While I admired her ability to keep going as life kept kicking her down, it was the glimmer of the young girl who only wanted to be loved that truly pulled me in.

Jack is a much older man who is still carrying around the pain of his wife’s death. Hope eases the pain but he’s too afraid to act on his feelings and desires for her.

I really enjoyed the story as a whole. The descriptions and details made me envision the setting, feel the character emotions, and want to know what happened next.

My one and only complaint is that Jack was too passive. I understand the author was trying to paint him as a man reluctant to open his heart to love and desire because of losing the love of his life, but at times he came off more like a reluctant five year old refusing to eat his veggies. There were scenes when he was strong and made the first move, like when he came to check on Hope’s sister or when he invited them to his place, but when it came to the sex he was a scared kitten. There was a scene where Hope is giving him oral sex and his hands are bunched into fists and he refuses to touch her. That turned me off. I like a man who enjoys sex and is actively participating in it. His lack of participation and his fear didn’t sit well with me in that one scene.

The rest of the story was good, and I enjoyed how in the end he got over his fear.

When porn starlet Gwen Guattari fails to show up for the shooting of The Gwen Commandments, her shady husband and manager hires private eye Benson Keirstad to find her. Keirstad soon learns that none of the people around Gwen, from producer to husband to secretary, are quite what they seem.

It’s easy to assume the worst when someone you love goes missing. The definition of the term worst, though, depends on who you ask. Have they been kidnapped? Did they run off with someone? Was anyone else involved in their disappearance?

Benson Keirstand is a difficult guy to like. From the moment he meets Gwen’s husband Horace and the other porn stars at 1000 Volt he judges their body art, occupations and trustworthiness in the blink of an eye. To make matters worse, he lets his assumptions about their lives cloud how he interacts with them. Yet despite this I found myself rooting for Benson as he conducts his investigation. It’s not easy to confront prejudices you may not even be fully aware you possess. I’ve certainly been embarrassed by things I’ve said and done without thinking in the past, especially when I don’t realize until much later how they may have come across.

The premise of this story snagged my attention immediately. At first I assumed Benson’s prejudices were going to be challenged as he inched closer to the truth. It was disappointing to see how stereotypically the porn star characters in particular were portrayed. This tale could have easily earned a higher rating had Benson met even one porn star at 1000 Volt whose well-adjusted life pleasantly surprised him. The plot was quite engaging but I just couldn’t get past the fact that an otherwise great mystery was so predictable in its characterization.

In Search of Gwen Guattari kept me on my toes. It’s a good choice for anyone who has ever wished they could sit down and talk with a character in their favorite book. Benson’s biggest flaw turns out to also be what made this reader eventually sympathize with him. He’s definitely not a perfect person. Then again, neither am I or you!

Historians have often asked, “What if the South had won at the Battle of Gettysburg?—what if, indeed?

1865: The South has won The Civil War; Robert E. Lee is President of the Confederate States of America; and Abraham Lincoln is paralyzed and a fugitive, protected by remnants of the defeated Union Army after being shot in the spine when Washington was sacked by the Rebels. Slavery is legal and has penetrated all sectors of the land that was once the United States of America. John Wilkes Booth, Nathan Bedford Forrest, and The Pinkertons all play a pivotal role in the shaping of the now permanently divided nation. Set in the oil boom area of Northwest Pennsylvania, THE LAST BEST HOPE follows the lives of Captain Ezekiel Edwards, Chastity Stottish, and others deeply impacted in the aftermath of both stunning victory and shameful defeat in a sweeping drama of romance, adventure, and hope for a better tomorrow.

What if all you thought about the Civil War was a lie?

History states that the Civil War ended in 1865 with the South surrendering. But with The Last Best Hope the reader is introduced to a world where the South hasn’t fallen. In fact, the North surrendered. The concept is intriguing. What would’ve happened if the South got one last surge and won? What if Lincoln hadn’t been assassinated? These are all interesting questions Parrott tackles.

I have to admit, at first I wasn’t pulled in by the book. There are moments where the story dragged and I had to fight a bit to keep going. Also, I’m not a huge fan of first person narrative. This book is in parts. While these made the read slower for me, that might not be the case for all readers, especially those intrigued by alternate history. After a few pages, the story did pick up and there were more than a few moments of turmoil and lots of adventure. The charcters are people, though in the past, I could relate to. The small town which has become a ghost story could be any small town. Chastity and Ezekiel made a good pair, both broken in some ways, but just right for each other. I think they were the best part of the book for me.

If you’ve ever wondered what would’ve happened if the South hadn’t fallen… then this might be the book you’re looking for.

Danny Champion is ready to be a rockstar. He’s been preparing for this most of his life. He’ll finally make it with the Knights. He knows it.

It’s a horrible time to fall in love.

But then there’s Cash, Danny’s roommate. A quiet computer nerd without a clue about the music business, Cash can barely understand the world Danny’s so eager to live in. He certainly doesn’t want to share it.

Even though he knows he shouldn’t, Danny’s unable to resist introducing Cash to the wonders of sex. He didn’t expect to get addicted to Cash’s charms.

Love doesn’t always happen when it’s convenient. Danny is just starting the hard work it takes to make his band, Indigo Knights, a huge success. It involves long hours in the studio and a relentless touring schedule. Falling for his computer nerd roommate, Cash, is not on Danny’s busy agenda. That doesn’t seem to matter to Danny’s heart though. What starts as a fun fling soon turns serious for Danny but he has to convince a very reluctant Cash that Danny and his heart are for keeps.

Champion picks up a few months after the first Indigo Knights book, Squire, leaves off. If you’re new to the series or the author, don’t worry. It’s very easy to pick up the threads and enjoy this one on its own. Those familiar with this series and the previous wildly popular Heaven Sent series will definitely enjoy the few cameos from favorite characters. Mykles knows how to write great rockers and here the talents are on display yet again. Cash and Danny are fun together with obvious chemistry and the author definitely doesn’t skimp on the sex scenes, which are plentiful. The story is told from Danny’s perspective and it’s nice to get into the head of the lead singer. His characterization is nicely well rounded with good self awareness. Danny initially doesn’t want to fall in love. He wants to be the rock star that has a ton of groupies and live the life and only later fall in love and settle down. Don’t worry though because there is no infidelity but instead the emotional and mental obstacles Danny goes through are nice to watch and feel very genuine.

On the flip side Cash is much less well defined. He remains a shadowy figure and very one sided. He’s jaded and almost angry without any real depth or explanation for his feelings. The story would have benefited a lot from including some of Cash’s perspective. While I like this couple well enough, they feel flatter and less vibrant than other pairings in the rocker series from Mykles. The cameos from previous characters are wonderful though and I loved each and every one. I also like the set up for the other band members and look forward to reading their true love stories. This combined with the good writing and descriptive quality of the story elevate it from just another fluff story.

Overall, Champion is a good addition to the series and overall rocker books from this author. You can pick it up on its own and enjoy the clean writing, good wit, and hot sex. It makes for an easy and very fast read. Although I didn’t like this particular book as much as previous books, it’s still an easy one to recommend. I think fans will really enjoy it and I personally eagerly look forward to more in the series.

It’s not every day that Elsa Bjornberg feels delicate, not when she hosts a home renovation show where she can effortlessly demolish a kitchen. But from the moment she meets Howard Barr, this bear of a man makes her feel like a woman. And the way he looks at her, as if she were a pot of honey he’d like to lick…

Howard is not like most men. For one thing, he’s a shapeshifter. And he always thought his celebrity crush would never amount to anything more than drooling at Elsa on TV. When his meddling vampire employer gets involved, the star is suddenly within his grasp—and within a hair of her life. For an ancient curse forbids their newfound love, and Howard is suddenly torn between his desire for her and his desire to keep her alive.

Finally, Howard gets a chance at love. He’s been around in the series for quite some time, always there protecting who needs protecting and watching the vamps find their true loves. What’s a lonely bear going to do when he has secrets of his own that prevent him from finding his own happiness? Pine from afar it seems. Until Roman’s wife, Shanna, got that twinkle in her eye.

I was thrilled to finally see Howard take center stage. His was a very private character that always seemed to be at everyone’s beck and call, and yet he never minded. Why was he there? Why was he so dedicated to MacKay Security? Howard was such a contrary character and the author hinted at his depths early on. He was a formidable opponent yet was such a pushover with kids. How could I not like a big tough guy with the insides of a squishy marshmallow? I had a great time learning that there was a lot more to Howard Barr than anyone could have envisioned. I came to appreciate his inner pain, his self-sacrifice and his determination to somehow right the wrongs and have vindication too. Unfortunately for him, and exciting for me, his plans caused a domino effect that propelled the plot, provided plenty of drama and suspense and kept the pages turning.

Add too that, the plans Shanna put into effect. They had more of an impact then even she could predict, which in turn, made this a very exciting romance story indeed. Shanna found out about one of Howard’s secrets which introduced Elsa to the story. Unbeknownst to both Elsa and Howard, their courtship was going to be one of the most bizarre yet fascinating adventure of their lives. Through the course of the book, they discover some amazing things about themselves, not the least of which is the solving of a hundreds of years old mystery. I was amused at how both sides had different accounts of the same story but when the truth comes out, readers will be in for another dose of intense excitement.

There are old favorites, like seeing Roman, Angus and Shanna again. It’s Roman and Shanna’s son, Tino, that oh, so innocently, adds spice and surprise to the events surrounding the hapless hero and heroine. He really is a cute manipulator – reminds me of his mom. Then I got introduced to Greta and Ula, Elsa’s aunts. They are more than doting aunts to Elsa, and their paranoid ways aren’t without credence. Elsa found that out the hard way.

That nasty bugger, Rhett Bleddyn, is back. And now I know why. What I found out about him made my ears steam. Ms. Sparks created a wonderful villain and I intensely disliked him. His connection to both Howard and Elsa was a surprise though and a clever bit of suspenseful writing.

A book by Ms. Sparks wouldn’t be complete without the kind of humor she’s known for. I’m pleased to say that all the deer, raccoons, and squirrels have a new friend, but even wild pigs don’t play nice. I know I referred to previous characters but rest assured, this is a wonderful standalone read. The author used the additional characters to further Howard and Elsa’s story without diluting it in any way. It was well balanced.

Wild About You is a thrilling story, peppered with humor and populated with characters that readers can fall in love with. Ms. Sparks continues to pen adventurous romance books that always seem fresh, vibrant and entertaining. This book is no exception. Even if readers visit this series for the first time with Howard’s story, this novel encompasses all that made me a fan of Ms. Sparks early on. Try it and see.
