Mya Newman never minded the routine or quiet that came with living in a small country town like Honey Creek, Ohio. For her senior year, she craved something exciting to happen instead of it melting into a cookie cutter routine like the previous years.

When a new girl, Audrey Moore, moves to Honey Creek, Mya finds herself caught in a triangle. She discovers hidden feelings for her best friend, Michael Graves, but he seems to have eyes for the new girl.

After Mya’s father becomes ill and eventually passes, she turns to her best friend, Michael. Never leaving her side, she can’t help but wonder if he’d rather be elsewhere. With fear of rejection and loss of friendship, Mya decides she can’t confess her recently discovered feelings.

When Michael and Mya share a dance at the Winter Formal, does she confess her true feelings for him? Or does she shy away, forever longing to be the princess who finds her prince?

When Mya wishes for excitement, she gets much more than she bargained for.

I was able to immerse myself in Ice Princess immediately. Since I grew up in a small town in Ohio, it was easy to picture Mya’s world. Even without this experience, Ms. Anderson provides enough detail to give any reader a clear picture without bogging the story down.

I also warmed to Mya right away. She’s smart, caring and has a good group of friends. I also really liked the fact that she is happy with her life in the small town of Honey Creek, but that she was open to a little more excitement. I think this type of attitude is a plausible portrayal of how some teenagers growing up in small towns feel.

Mya and Michael’s friendship feels natural and it clearly has been developed over the course of many years. As Mya begins to have more complex feelings for Michael, I found it easy to picture them transitioning from being friends into being a couple. While I knew how Mya felt about Michael, I wasn’t quite sure how Michael felt about her until the very end of the story. I kept wondering if Mya was ever going to confess her feelings and I eagerly anticipated Michael’s reaction.

I must say I thought everyone in the story was nice… a little too nice really. Everyone was very understanding all the time and no one ever got in a fight with anyone else. It all seemed just a little too perfect. Even Mya’s jealously over Audrey’s closeness with Michael is extremely controlled. Mya goes through some serious emotional upheavals during the story with the death of her father and her newly awakened feelings for Michael. With everything Mya has been through, I think the story would have been even more believable if she’d have lost her cool just once.

I really liked the way the story ended. While the final scenario is a tad predictable, at the same time, it is also very realistic. It is exactly the sort of situation I’d expect a young teenage couple to find themselves in, especially in a small town like Honey Creek. It was the perfect way for Mya and Michael’s story to end.

I really enjoyed reading Ice Princess. It is a wonderfully emotional short story with just the right balance of sweetness and sadness. I recommend it to anyone who relishes a charming story of love and friendship.

A Man Of Misfortune

With his reckless, drunken brother bringing ruin to the clan, and the lass he’s loved all his life in the clutches of a violent husband, the last thing Thayne MacGowan needs is a spirited, sharp–tongued damsel to contend with—no matter how enticing she may be…

A Woman With A Secret

Having narrowly escaped an objectionable arranged marriage, Amalie is starting a new life—with a new identity. But her freedom is cut short when a surly but irresistibly handsome Highlander is forced to take her as his bride. If only he knew who she really was…

An Unlikely Love

Fate designs an improbable match, and a battle of wills ensues. As Amalie struggles to protect her identity, Thayne finds himself fighting for an unexpected love—and a passion neither can refuse…

Danger, confusion, and a barbaric bunch of Scottish clansmen derail Lady Amalie Ellin’s neat, tidy plan to impersonate a governess for a while to escape having to wed the imbecilic son of a rich duke.

How Amalie, who is accustomed to luxury and privilege, adapts to often harsh and always challenging circumstances enthralls. She had no idea freedom came with fear, risks, and peril in so many forms. But she is smart, resilient, self-reliant, and courageous with an imagination and play-acting ability that serves her well in dire situations.

Thayne MacGowan, in a spur-of-the-moment maneuver to protect ones dear to him, grabs the unknown “English governess” to use in a ploy to defer an out-and-out battle with the cruel Dunne-Fyne. The tiny, sassy, argumentative Amalie, with the amber-eyes, sets his libido on full alert. He knows it’s just lust because his dead Mary is his only true love, but the little, sharp-tongued woman snuggled tight against his chest as they ride through freezing rain, makes his ache with need and wanting.

What a tangled web they weave when, in order to stay alive, Thayne and Amalie both say, in the presence of all, that they are married and Baby Mary is theirs.

The code of chivalry Thayne lives by is cold, lonely, punishing, and seemingly fruitless. He carries a burden of guilt for not being able to fulfill the promise to his father, on this deathbed. Thayne had been unable to hide Jamie’s perfidies as his father had demanded. All knew of the new laird, Jamie’s drunkenness, his gluttony, and his cruel womanizing. The old laird wanted to keep the name MacGowan noble, feared, revered, and sacrosanct.

Jackie Ivie creates secondary characters that pulsate with energy and intrigues as they ramp up the tension in the story. Even the harsh, unpredictable weather, the magnificent Castle Gowan, and the harsh yet beautiful environment seem to come alive as characters that influence the outcome of events.

Among the ugly, cruel and threatening events, a humorous, comic relief is the MacKennah young girl with whom Thayne broke betrothal. She, in her own inept way, does a good thing, but only because it suits her own purpose. Her attitude and actions set the reader’s mind at ease. She is not one to pine away her life shut away in the recesses of some old castle. She is looking out for number one.

Then there is Jamie’s wife, of the Douglas clan, and a harridan. She stirs a totally different set of emotions. She too is looking for number one, but in a threatening, angry way. All her rich attire and surrounds cannot hide her ugliness both inside and out.

As the conflicts ebb and flow, love grows. Amalie, young and naïve, knows not how to define the stirrings within when she sees, touches, or thinks of Thayne. Of course, Thayne maintains love is a woman’s weapon—akin to slavery, However, Amalie, beautiful as a Grecian statue, only made of responsive flesh and blood, ties his body and mind in knots with wanting and need. Everything about her calls to him and the lust turns to love with his denying it every step of the way—an emotional journey that captivates. The earth-shattering love scenes make A Perfect Knight For Love throb with ecstasy and sensual sweetness—breathtaking. Ms. Ivie’s magnificent descriptions, incredibly realistic characters, and her amazing ability to pull the reader into the emotional whirlpool of feelings from spine-tingling fear and horror to breathtaking, mind-blowing rapture make A Perfect Knight For Love fantastic reading.

As a jaguar he is graceful and gorgeous…

Speedy and stealthy…

Fierce, independent, and wild…

As a man he is passionate and powerful…

Willful and wonderful…

And he’ll stop at nothing to protect what’s his…

Savage Hunger is as steamy a story as the humidity of the jungle it takes place in and is just as dangerous. Take a good look at the wonderful and vibrant cover. See the woman peeking over the shoulder of the hot hunk? That is none other than Kathleen, the heroine, and I have to give the artist credit. Kat has this really saucy and cheeky wit that pops out with a mischievous twinkle in her eye and the artist captured her at a moment of devilish plotting. Poor Connor doesn’t stand a chance.

Ms. Spear cracked me up with what she gave the heroine as her little problem. It placed Kat in quite a few prickly situations that always led to exciting scenes that I couldn’t step away from. Time to eat? “Let it cool down, I’m at a good part.” That’s pretty much how my whole experience was in reading Savage Hunger. Every time I thought things were going to smooth out or they’d have a moment of reprieve, something seemed to happen that compelled me to keep turning the pages. The adventure of discovery, of outwitting the bad guys and staying one step ahead of certain torture and death insured that there wasn’t a dull moment in any of the chapters. Certainly, I didn’t want to stop reading until I got to the final wrap-up and happy ever after.

In addition to Kat’s embarrassing difficulty is the new predicament she finds herself which leads her to experience eating raw fish with its subsequent stinky breath, and stripping at very inconvenient moments. It’s going to take a special kind of guy to guard her when these quirks take place and there’s no better hero than Connor to get the job done.

I enjoyed reading the story in Connor’s point of view. I liked it when he took it in stride when Maya, his sister, and Kat ganged up on him. I loved how protective he was of both women, yet he respected their strengths. His love for his sister came through strongly in the writing. His growing love and wonder over finding as wonderful a mate as Kat was great to read. His sense of honor almost cost him having Kat in his life, but as much as he loved his sister, she loved him just as much and proved it, providing an opportunity for Connor and Kat to bond. It was hit or miss in the beginning and caused its own level of drama and suspense, but the journey was worth it.

A heightened level of drama came from the bad guys. One evil drug lord pulled the strings and he was persistent, deadly and vicious. Every time I thought the trio would finally make headway in getting to safety, someone somewhere would say something that gave the criminals a lead. It drove me nuts but it also allowed the lead characters to show off all that they could do and would do in the name of survival. It didn’t hurt that Ms. Spear threw in an effective hook for another jaguar story. The stalker turned out to be who I thought it was but I’m really hoping that he will indeed turn out to be a good guy and I know just the person who’d be good for him. It didn’t help matters any that Kat’s ex mentioned something that made me think otherwise, but I refuse to be deterred. I think he’d make a great addition to the jaguar family.

Speaking of Kat’s ex-fiancé, he’s a worm. Enough said.

What is awesome to mention is the waterfall scene. Why that water didn’t evaporate from the scorching heat generated between Connor and Kat, I have no idea. It was seductive, effective and a delicious bit of writing. That was my favorite but the author gave the hero and heroine plenty of opportunities to explore, delight and please the other with an intensity that might make a reader or two blush. I had fun.

Some readers might take exception to Kat’s seemingly easy acceptance to her new station in life. Not me. I found it refreshing to not have to deal with drama queen antics on top of life and death situations. What was done was done and Kat, being the practical military woman she is, assessed the benefits versus cons and concluded she was getting everything she ever wanted plus benefits. She just had to survive first to enjoy them.

The happy ever after was satisfying. The author touched base on a lot of little subjects that appeared throughout the story and tied the loose ends up with a huggable ending. Now the only thing left is to read the next book in the series to find out if Maya is going to meet who I think she might meet. I am eagerly looking forward to the next jaguar adventure.

Savage Hunger leaves a reader hungering for more of this awesome and exciting new world that Ms. Spear has created. The author has written a story with a lovable heroine, an alpha hero who’s not obnoxious or overbearing, and a fun sister to tag along and complicate Connor’s life. The food they eat is exotic although the eating establishments are earthy, and they spend more time using trees than Tarzan. This new series is exhilarating and filled with rich and vibrant descriptions to make a reader feel like they’re in the thick of the Amazon jungle. There are moments of humor, of tenderness and pure hot loving. In short, Savage Hunger has the best of all the elements that make readers of paranormal romances happy. Artist Representative, Eilis Kennedy, gave up a singing career so that other women could have a fair chance at having their music heard. Having suffered rejection from callous men in the industry, she thought she would get away from ‘casting couch’ mentality. But when she finds herself in the office of Fergus Manley, all bets are off. Disgusted by his continual come-ons and lewd invitations, Eilis is looking for ‘the one’ who will take her career to the next level, getting out from under Fergus’s controlling thumb.

Aspiring blues guitarist, Kieran Vaughan, is looking for his big break. But after suffering near bankruptcy at the hands of an unscrupulous business partner, Kieran is left picking up the pieces. He’s unsure if the debts will ever be paid or if he’ll ever have a chance to do something with his music. At his whit’s end, he’s about ready to throw in the towel and find a full-time job with real hours.

When Eilis discovers Kieran playing in a seedy pub in Dublin’s Northside, she knows he’s the one rare talent she’s been searching for. With her know-how and his talent, Eilis will finally get everything she’s been waiting for. Neither of them count on the powerful attraction from first meeting. Eilis is so rocked by Keiran’s forthright words that it sends her running. Kieran risks being arrested as he chases Eilis across Ireland.

Seeing what’s happening between Eilis and Kieran, anger wells inside Fergus and he steps up his pursuit of Eilis. Refusing to let Kieran get in his way, Fergus vows to add Eilis’s notch to his bedpost, whatever it takes.

Will Kieran be able to protect her?

I apparently need a steady diet of Ms. Shortland’s books. In between reading them, I tend to forget the depth of character and insight into their personalities. I especially forget how devious and evil her villains can be. This makes their presence even more subversive and menacing. The truly ingenious aspect of her villains are the way they could be someone we, the reader, know and have experience with in our own lives. I especially enjoyed Fergus. He comes off a creepy and a little sick throughout the entire story, but the climax of the story truly reveals his personality. The potential reality of his character is what makes the story frightening.

But, I stray from the most important aspect of the novel – the romance! While perhaps “unbelievable”, the connection between Ellis and Kieran can resonate with the reader, and help them remember or imagine that grand passion one can feel when with the right person. I’m not sure I could walk up and down a street and locate my beloved based on said connection, but oh-so-many of us have felt that electric “spark across the room”.

This reader could definitely sense the love Ms. Shortland has for her main characters . . . Kieran can not possibly have been playing for that long and have achieved those chops and not have a healthy dose of self-absorption and elevated self-worth. The reader could probably blame it on his responsibilities with running his own business and caring for his sister, but truly, our author’s love of this character is shining through in his honesty, caring and generosity.

I believe most women reading this story will resonate with at least one aspect of Ellis’ personality. Whether the reader has been a victim of the “sleep with the boss to get ahead or else” situation, or on the receiving end of a careless lover who imparts the poor body image and deflated self-worth, we can all identify with part of her. This makes the eventual connection with Kieran that much sweeter! Our author’s delight in the countryside and its’ people are evident in her descriptive passages throughout the book. However, none tickled the senses quite as much as her extended description of the tea cakes and the delight both Kieran and Ellis experienced while eating them.

This book will engross the reader fully.  You will not want to put the book down. This means it will be over far too quickly! The good news is, as soon as you finish it, you get to read it again!

Hockey goalie Tarah ‘TJ’ Elliot is too busy stopping pucks to go looking for love. When her friend Natalie sets her up through Madame Eve’s 1 Night Stand service, she grudgingly agrees to go. Her ultimate fantasy comes true when Scott Alarid, one of the top scorers in the league, shows up at her hotel room. Hockey player TJ can’t possibly spend a night with him, but Tarah certainly can.

Scott’s tired of dealing with women who only like him for his all-star status. After his teammates arrange a date for him using the 1NS website, he’s delighted to find a woman who doesn’t know a thing about the sport. But, will the truth force them to put their relationship on ice?

Who knew hockey could be so sensual?

Tarah “TJ” Elliot lives her life surrounded by men, yet can’t seem to meet one. As a professional hockey player, she is unfortunately seen as one of the guys, so finding a romantic connection is difficult. That’s when TJ’s good friend sets her up with Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand service.

Scott Alarid is a big named hockey star and captain of his team. Despite professional success, what he’s really looking for is a woman who wants him for him, and not because he’s a sports figure. His last relationship ended badly, so he’s not actively looking to get into another. When his buddies set him up with a date, however, he reluctantly agrees to go, if for no other reason than to avoid hurting an innocent woman who’d otherwise be stood up.

There were many things I liked about this short tale, not the least of which was the sexual connection the two shared. They were instantly compatible and each had a mutual attraction and enjoyment of the other.

The writing was clear and easy to read, both points of view represented and the dialogue was well attributed.

The one main negative I’d have is perhaps the order of things. The couple was together for only a few minutes before their physical relationship began, but there wasn’t much of a reason for that in Scott’s eyes. Tarah admired Scott, having followed him closely as an athlete, and was obviously physically attracted to him, but Scott knew nothing of Tarah. Before dinner had even arrived (less than 40 minutes according to the story) the two had sex and he was convinced Tarah was the woman for him. It seemed the only criteria for his feeling was her sexual ability and the fact that she didn’t know he was a hockey player. Later on, the two were able to talk and get to know each other better, and at that point the hope for a future made more sense, but the speed at which Scott determined Tarah was an ideal mate seemed a little quick.

That negative aside, the rest of the story was very enjoyable. Not knowing anything about hockey myself, I was able to follow the necessary details about the game that contributed to the book and could appreciate the relationship the two shared in the sport on top of their personal relationship. If you’re looking for a tale about finding that right person at the right time, Goalie Interference, and the 1Night Stand Series are great options!

Jiline of Ainsley is dismayed when her best friend is selected by the mages to become a unicorn keeper at the Keep, an isolated mountain fortress. Especially since Madelen is in love and engaged to the richest boy in the village. Jiline on the other hand has no prospects of marriage or a trade in their small village. So, she comes up with a plan to take Madelen’s place at the Keep and hopefully flunk out of unicorn keeper training before the mages can discover the deception. Unfortunately, the unicorns have their own plans for her.

Mage Herrick, son of the Keep Mage, returns home to the Keep as the trainee keepers arrive. A chance encounter with Jiline, who he believes is Madelen, on the trail sparks a magical connection between the two. Knowing he can’t feel a magical draw to someone who has no magic, he tries to prove Madelen (Jiline) has magic within her. His attention brings unforeseen complications for both of them.

Jiline’s friend Madelen is chosen by the mages to serve at Unicorn Keep. The girls are dismayed, as Madelen is to marry the mayor’s son within the year. They hatch a plot and Jiline takes her place at the Keep. She is chosen as a unicorn keeper and becomes friendly with one of the younger mages, Herrick. Her trouble begins when the unicorns decide she is the chosen one who will help them escape from the mages valley.

The interaction between Herrick and Jiline is fraught with tension. Herrick feels the draw mages get when they find their soul mate, but tries to dismiss it as he knows keepers are out of bounds to the mages.

I love unicorns so the title of this book caught my attention right away. Jiline and Herrick are very strong characters, each one determined to do what they feel is right. Herrick secretly defies the Keep authority while Jiline sneaks out at night to meet the unicorns. The unicorns’ story becomes the main plot and the author skillfully brings the animals and Jiline together, and includes Herrick in such a way his story blends seamlessly with Jiline’s.

Young adults who like fantasy with a light touch of romance will enjoy this book. It’s a little out of the ordinary and introduces magic wielded by humans with all the passions and faults of normal people. The unicorns are unique to this story and the author also reveals their personalities so that I got to know them too. I enjoyed reading this book and hope readers try it, it’s well worth reading.

When Andi moves into her new house, she knows from the outset that it’s different. One autumn night, she discovers how different it is when she wakes to find that her past, and the woman she left behind so long ago, aren’t quite so far away after all. Will she succumb to her own fear of the unknown or will an old love be strong enough to protect her?

This is a story that starts with a little bit of mystery and ends with a little bit of magic. Andrea, “Andi” lives in an odd house with an Inuit name meaning “Frost”. In this short story, it’s shown early on that Andi has a heart, making her a likeable character. Andi is single, in her early fifties, so has a bit of maturity, which she’ll need for the adventure ahead of her.

This tale has a storybook style to it, creating an air of mystery with its old-fashioned presentation. It’s a bit wordy, even for such a short story, and some telling rather than showing is seen throughout, giving it an on-the-surface feel at times, but it is suspenseful. Weird things happen, making it unpredictable. What direction is this story going to take? Will it turn into something scary, something magical etc.?

Mystical, sensual details at times add some up-close sensations. These could have been spread out throughout the whole text.

A reader may find her or his self asking often, “What is this?” or “What’s happening to Andi?” It’s very strange. Andi shows courage, facing the mysterious creature. Near the end, the reader discovers that she had a female lover. Negative memories come back to Andi; then these melt into something nice. There is a bit of sensuality in these memories, adding a touch of spiciness to the story. Symbolism is used well here, and the tale has an interesting ending.

It’s an unusual story, not like many others of its genre.

THE INVINCIBLE NINTH ROMAN LEGION MARCHES FROM YORK TO FIGHT THE NORTHERN TRIBES. AND THEN VANISHES FROM THE PAGES OF HISTORY.

Archaeologist Verity Grey has been drawn to the dark legends of the Scottish Borderlands in search of the truth buried in a rocky field by the sea.

Her eccentric boss has spent his whole life searching for the resting place of the lost Ninth Roman Legion and is convinced he’s finally found it—not because of any scientific evidence, but because a local boy has “seen” a Roman soldier walking in the fields, a ghostly sentinel who guards the bodies of his long-dead comrades.

Here on the windswept shores, Verity may find the answer to one of the great unsolved mysteries of our time. Or she may uncover secrets someone buried for a reason.

Archaeologist Verity Grey, coaxed to a dig by Adrian, a former boyfriend and often a fellow worker, finds a world apart—a world rich with mystery, ghosts and, psychic energy, besides all the incredible people that open up a whole new world for her.

Eyemouth in Scotland, steeped in the lore and the blood of past people that inhabited the land, welcomes Verity into its midst and whispers secrets to her in its mist. Even before she arrives in Eyemouth, things begin to happen. Stuck on a stopped bus, she looks across the moors. Whether it’s the wild wind of Scotland’s Borderlands, the restless spirits of those who’ve come before, or Verity’s imagination, the man striding around bracken and thorn looks like “a spectre from a bygone age, a fearless border laird”. But he is, in truth, just an ordinary man in his thirties, wearing modern jeans and leather jacket. Then again, up close, he is not so ordinary. David Fortuna, broad-shouldered and beautiful, with a Scots brogue hard for Verity to understand, a brogue that vanishes when he realizes she is English, is captivating.

David, while a native of the area, is an archaeologist who lectures at Edinburgh University. He will be working on the same dig she is going to. He soon finds that Verity’s impulsiveness, independence, vivid imagination, and the confusion that seems to follow her around impact not only the dig but the lives of all she meets. He finds her much like his mother, Granny Nan, whom all agree is trawn, meaning one who delights in being difficult and obstinate, yet in a most delightful way. The gentle, slow development of their relationship is revealed in exquisite fashion.

Verity brings energy, expertise, and love of many kinds to her new job. Her name is so true to her personality–Everity, truth, real and enduring.

She connects with characters, both primary and secondary, in ways that endear her to them and them to her. She and the loveable, psychic Robbie relate to each other at once and they connect with the Sentinel. More than connecting to just live characters and the ghost Sentinel, she hears the galloping horses at night, feels the cold presence of the ghost, and feels that presence when special events related to the ghost happen.

She also embraces Peter Quinnell, the eccentric Irishman who believes with all his heart the last marching camp of the Ninth Roman Legion is on his Rosehill estate. Some say he is mad, but he is intelligent, wealthy, and determined to gain respect from the archaeological community, that heretofore has discounted his work. He brings a diverse group together to make it happen. His story, though sad, has a sense of destiny being played out to it. He believes in Robbie’s unwavering declaration that the ghosts of the Sentinel, who was with the Ninth Legion, walks about and tries to talk to Robbie.

The many secondary characters like Adrian; Granny Nan; Fabia, Peter’s granddaughter; Brian, Robbie’s dad; Jeannie, Robbie’s mom and the cook/housekeeper for Peter play dynamic roles in the unfolding of this mesmerizing story.

Susanna Kearsley weaves together a fantastic tale full of humor, historical facts, lore, legends, psychic phenomena, modern-day smuggling, and human beings interacting with each other—interactions that are full of twists and turns. Her use of symbolism charms the senses, especially the story of the swan of Eyemouth River. She tells the story in first-person and takes the reader along for every moment of frustration, fun, fear, falsehood, and most especially for the awakening of a forever faithful love.

Detective Gabriel Ashby has never looked twice at another man, yet the criminal across from him, the man he’s interrogating, isn’t like any other. Gabe can’t deal with the sudden, intense need he has for one of NYPD’s Most Wanted. Everyone close to Angelo Pagan ends up dead, with the smug gang leader standing amid the rubble. Gabe would love nothing more than to bust Angelo’s ass and lock him up. So why is he seeing the bastard in his dreams at night?

Angelo Pagan knows attraction to Gabe is suicide. He’s resolute to ignore the chemistry…until a police raid goes wrong. He critically injures Gabe, changing the trajectory of both their lives. Now the two can’t get close enough. They settle into a forbidden affair threatened by lies and betrayal, living on different sides of the law with no way of breaching the gap between them. With the authorities looking to make an example of Angelo, Gabe has to decide if it’s really worth it to hate the sin but love the sinner.

They say opposites attract; in this case opposites attract, connect and then explode!

When Gabe, a good guy, meets Angelo, a real hard ass bad guy, the last thing either of them expect is to fall in love. But that’s what happens, and from that moment on their lives are turned not just upside down but inside out and twisted all over the place.

Love the Sinner is one of those books where you really do have to suspend your disbelief. Gabe, a high flying cop, dedicated to his career, justice and keeping the streets safe suddenly finds himself, for the first time ever in his life, massively attracted to a man. That man is Angelo, one of the city’s most notorious gang leaders and, although gay, he’s never been with a man and keeps his sexuality securely under wraps. However, once you accept this part of the plot, and the fact that both men are willing to risk everything to be with one another, this story becomes a real page-turner.

The sex is hot to the point of melting your e-reader, the characters are three dimensional and, Angelo, despite being the sort of man I normally wouldn’t be rooting for in a novel, secures his status in the book as one of the heroes. I really sunk my teeth into the plot and was pleased that I couldn’t always second guess what was going to happen next. Also, for me, the end was perfect and the author managed to leave me with a lovely warm, gooey feeling inside.

If you enjoy steamy m/m, a read that takes you on a journey to both sides of the track and a great happy ever after, then make sure you pick up a copy of Love the Sinner.

Submissive Mia Manetti is devastated when her first Master uncollars her just as she was hoping for a permanent relationship with him. Trying to move on, she agrees to sub for a powerful and sexy new Dom.

Chess Ryan has wanted Mia from the first moment he saw her at Club Restraint, but it was always “hands off” because she belonged to his friend Philip. Now, thanks to that friend’s maneuvers, Mia is finally his. But only for a little while.

Mia finds it increasingly difficult to keep her feelings in check as she experiences erotic delights with Master Chess, sensual and sexual fantasies that she’s never known before. But she fears she setting herself up for another heartache. Guilt, secrets and misplaced pride all keep Chess and Mia from being completely honest with each other. As they connect sexually and emotionally, they realize their relationship has grown too serious to be called “play”.

How far are they willing to go as Master and slave?

This book had me reading it from cover to cover and hooked me right from the first word. I love it when the heroine and hero are both real people with problems just like everyone else. With characters that practically breathe, a plot that will surprise you with its twists and turns and the edgy rise into a new relationship, this book will keep you reading into the night and have you grabbing your e-reader over your coffee and corn flakes in the morning.

What would you do if your husband or boyfriend suddenly decided one day that he was ready to move on and didn’t really tell you why? This is the heart wrenching situation that we find our heroine, Mia, in Uncollared. Her Master doesn’t want her anymore and she is devastated. He was her world. For most of us, the man in our lives can and does become part of our orbit and when the planets become misaligned, bad things happen. We don’t eat. We don’t take care of ourselves. Author Nora Raines does a great job of illustrating Mia’s hurt and confused feelings. Frankly, I clutched my e-reader in hand most days, eager to read the next chapter or two.

The other intriguing point in the way Nora Raines wrote Uncollared was how she handled the hero, Chess. He’s a Dom who is about to lose his business. Chess is a real guy that is struggling to hold on to something that is slipping away from him a little every day. Mia, as his new sub, gives him hope, and in turn, they bump and grind through the carnage of Mia’s old relationship and the tentative beginnings of a new one. This really worked for me. The way Chess was able to introduce himself into Mia’s life was masterful and as their relationship progressed, I found the story drawing me in because of the fragile nature of it and the strength that it gave to both characters.

When you are looking at conflict in this book, there are several that keep you reading. First and foremost, you have Mia and her anger toward Phillip, the Master who left her. You also have Mia’s body image that gives an oh-so in your face reality moment for most of us. It drew me in. Honestly, what woman doesn’t have issues with something on her body? Then you have Chess trying to force his way into Mia’s life. She resents it, but needs to feel the mastery that comes from a BDSM relationship. Talk about hot! Wow. Finally you have the real life situations that both Mia and Chess have to deal with out of the bedroom, with her work as a social worker and his as a business owner in the grips of losing everything his family has worked for.

Nona Raines has done a wonderful job mixing real images of people and the intricacies of a BDSM relationship. People with hearts that are broken from the events in their lives come together to fill a need and in doing so, create a plot with fire. The dialogue felt real, the emotions spot on and my finger hurt from flicking my e-reader to find out what happened. The sex was steamy and each scene was well thought out and not repetitive in any way.

Uncollared is a book that will be staying on my e-reader library shelf for a long time. If you love an evocatively written book with real people that enjoy a BDSM relationship, then this one is for you.
