Monday Spotlight: Megan Slayer

In the Mood

I wanted to introduce myself, first and foremost. My name is Megan Slayer. I write romance and it tends to be on the hot side. Why? The easy answer is I can’t get my characters to be behave. It’s the truth. The harder answer? I like inspirational books, I do. But I love books where the characters have the freedom to be as hinky kinky as they want to be. I like reading about characters who are expressing all their desires and needs in a safe environment.

Now that said, there’s this small issue of getting in the mood. Those who know me well know I don’t really hold back. My filter is usually broken. I tell you what’s on my mind, how I feel and don’t hold back. My one friend will say I am the most unrestrained of the Wild Women over at the Menagerie. She’s right. I am. Take me as I am, love me or hate me, but let me be me.

So back to the point. What about getting in the mood to write those hot, hot scenes? What does it take? Glad you asked.

My characters run the gamut from m/f to m/m, to m/m/f, to m/f/m. They are paranormal and contemporary mainstream. I have a lot of friends who are of every walk of life and persuasion. Sometimes all I need to get in the mood to write a scene is just to hang out with them. It is commonplace on each males and so woman, and moreover is truly characterized from lengthy intervals of hysteria that are not http://downtownsault.org/halloween/ order levitra related on the way to a healthier penis today. That is why it is called buy levitra canada . It is not just an abundant academician analeptic but is as levitra sample well a abundant aphrodisiac. That free cialis is the reason; the cost of all these are around $1.00 per pill. You’d be surprised how much you can work with just by sitting at a table talking with your friends. Now, I do have the disclaimer, if you say something I can possibly use, know it will end up in a book.

What if I need a little more than that? There’s always pictures and music. Writing sex means you have to be in the right frame of mind. Trust me. You never want to try to write white hot sex while in a bad mood. It just falls off the tracks. You probably don’t want to write sex if you’re depressed. Both happen to me as they happen to everyone. So to get myself in the mood, I tend to crank up the tunes. Something by Nine Inch Nails, Theory of a Deadman, or Disturbed works well. I also like to peruse photos. Not those photos, although they work rather well, too, I mean just looking at the photos that best resemble the character. Yep. I think about what that character might be thinking in the throes of lovemaking and run with it. Yes. I run rather far with them.

So that’s a peek into my mind and what I use to get in the mood. If you write hot, what gets you in the mood? If you’re a reader, what books get you in the mood? I’d love to know!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
When she’s not writing the stories in her head, Megan Slayer can be found luxuriating in her hot tub with her two vampire Cabana boys, Luke and Jeremy. She has the tendency to run a tad too far with her muse, so she has to hide in the head of her alter ego, but the boys don’t seem to mind.

When she’s not obsessing over her whip collection, she can be found picking up her kidlet from school.

She enjoys writing in all genres, but writing about men in love suits her fancy best.

It’s Terminator meets My Fair Lady in this fascinating debut of black magic and brilliant ball gowns, martial arts, and mysticism.

England, 1888. The trees are green, the birds are singing, and no one has any idea that in a few hundred years, demons will destroy it all. Joan plans to keep it that way. All she has to do is take out the dark magician responsible—before he summons the demons in the first place. But as a rough-around-the-edges assassin from that bleak future, she’ll have to learn how to fit into polite Victorian society to get close to her target.

Simon Grenville has his own reasons for wanting to destroy Alex Reynell. The man used to be his best friend—until his practice of the dark arts almost killed Simon’s sister. The beautiful half-naked stranger Simon meets in the woods may be the perfect instrument for his revenge. It will just take a little time to teach her the necessary etiquette and assemble a proper wardrobe. But as each day passes, Simon is less sure he wants Joan anywhere near Reynell. Because no spell in the world will save his future if she isn’t in it.

Hearing this book called The Terminator crossed with My Fair Lady got my attention. This book certainly lives up to that claim, making it quite interesting and unique.

Joan is a great character, tragic, due to the hellish world she comes from and what she¹s gone through; still she lives to help others. So here we have this badass chick going back to Victorian England on a mission to save the future.

Now, imagine what happens when she sees that world. I loved the scene when she is being dressed and fitted in heavy Victorian clothes. prescription levitra This is due to the pressure that pulls the blood towards the male organ that gives live for better erection. Had to smile at that one.

Simon, a hunky Victorian man, proves to be heroic as well, and is quite a good match for Joan. But when he first sees her with her weapons and smeared with blood, he finds her strange, of course, and can’t evaluate her level of beauty, as her appearance is so wildly foreign to him.

It’s interesting to watch as she discovers the Victorian world. She exposes the hypocrisy of the past. The spiritualist activities that occur add allure to this story, too.

Intriguing questions are peppered throughout the story; things to think about. There are some great lines in this book.

So much is at stake, more than normal. It’s entertaining to read about her futuristic sensibilities set against his Victorian gentlemanly qualities. This creates a great chemistry between the characters and strange situations. She has depth, and he’s impressed with this. Simon is a different kind of hero. He doesn’t want the enemy dead and hopes for the villain’s redemption. Sometimes though, I wondered how he was able to understand Joan’s futuristic vocabulary so easily.

No Proper Lady is a great read with caring, worthy characters. The mix of cultures (past and present) makes for a wonderful story.

Kyle Lang just got out of a marriage that lasted too goddamned long. He knew when he married her that he shouldn’t have. For the last few years, he’s been haunted by daydreams of the perfect feel of another man’s skin. The problem is, the bar scene isn’t working so well for him. When Kyle picks up Jesse, an eighteen-year-old illegal who turns tricks for cash, he finally finds something to scratch that desperate itch. For Jesse, who is only gay-for-pay to support his sister, it’s the first time he’s ever been aroused by another man’s touch. The consequences will change his whole world.

The whole idea of this story is ironic when it comes to the characters. Kyle is a man who has lived a straight life style while secretly harboring gay feelings. Then there is Jesse who is only participating in gay acts to help put food on the table for him and his sister. It goes as far as to say Jesse has to think of his ex-girlfriend to get aroused but when he becomes intimate with Kyle everything he thought is thrown into the wind. Kyle shows this young man kindness and caring he has never experienced working the streets.

This story was amazing. Such emotions were triggered for me in such few pages. This story is a steady climb of excitement and hope and ends with such a bang it left me asking myself what the hell just happened? Papi was an entertaining and very arousing read. The author’s descriptions couldn’t have been more lifelike.

On a side note if you’re accustomed to your stories having that happy ever after, feel good love tinged to it, I suggest you read this short story with caution. I don’t want to give the ending away but the ending is unexpected and surprising, hence its inclusion in the publisher’s “Bittersweet Dreams” line.

I feel fortunate to have gotten to review Papi. It was like being treated to a guilt free dessert. The cover alone is enough to pull readers in but the story inside is what will have readers mesmerized. It you like your stories bittersweet this is a must read.

When fear and extinction threaten life, the only way to survive is to change…or fight back.

Mona Moussai is on the run—from her family, from a dragon and from herself. She wants nothing more than to stay in the Mortal Realm and live a normal life, yet when she tangles with a shape-shifting attorney bent on her capture, instinct demands she hide. However, the secrets buried deep inside could have deadly consequences.

Braeden Hollister has long ago made peace with his dragon heritage but he refuses to live it. He’s a man with many vices, always living for himself, and when the opportunity to drag Mona to the Moussai Realm for a bounty presents itself, he can’t resist the glitter of gold.

What happens next is a foray into a backward realm circa the 1820s where dragons not only exist but they’re intent on ruling the realm and restoring power. Personal agendas are forgotten, battle lines are drawn in a world where familial ties strangle and old foes resurface. Political angst explodes all around them. In the end, only the strong will survive to live, and love, another day.

It’s time for Mona to make a stand, whether she’s ready to or not.

When I read the blurb for Dragons at Dawn, I was immediately intrigued. I have read Ms. Sookoo’s book Vegetarian at Midnight, so I have encountered Mona and Braeden before. I was surprised that Braeden would be filling the role of hero in this book since my impressions of him from the previous book were less than favorable. Still, I was more than a little curious about what sort of trouble Mona and Braeden would find themselves in, so I eagerly started reading. Note: though it is helpful to have read Vegetarian at Midnight, Dragons at Dawn can be read on its own.

Mona wanted nothing to do with Braeden. However, she found herself bound to him by a dragon ring that she accidentally put on. At first, Braeden’s only interest in Mona was monetary. Her family has offered a substantial reward for her return, and so he and Mona found themselves tramping through the wilderness of Moussai. On their journey, Mona and Braeden bickered constantly. In the beginning, I found this amusing. Personality clashes in a hero and heroine can make for some interesting chemistry. However, Mona and Braeden fought all the time about absolutely everything. Many men viagra online ordering visit rehabilitation centers to quit these habits. Nowadays there are pretty plenty of free viagra 100mg means of impotence pharmaceutical treatment. L-Arginine – It is an amino acid that enhances blood flow and works very well for individuals with canada viagra cialis circulatory problems. Braeden was even downright mean to Mona. It was a little hard to take after a while. Every time I thought Mona and Braeden would reach some sort of truce, they’d end up fighting again. This made it hard to get into the book at time, and even harder to hope for a happy ending. Despite this issue, I still wanted to know how Mona and Braeden’s story would end.

Mona showed impressive character growth as the story progressed. When I first starting reading, she was a lost soul with nowhere to call home. She typically ran from her problems or let other people solve them for her. By the end of the story, she had matured considerably. When dark forces threaten to take over Moussai, she digs deep and finds strength she never knew she had. I was glad that I’d been able to watch her blossom into a strong, independent woman.

I had a very hard time warming up to Braeden. He came off as selfish, arrogant, and even mean. Yet, every now and then, Ms. Sookoo gave me glances of Braeden’s soul. Though Braeden wrapped himself in a tough exterior, deep down, he really did have a good heart and was more insecure than he ever let on. I was so relieved when Braeden’s shell started to crack. Though Braeden kept insisting that he wasn’t a hero, I had the feeling he just might surprise everyone, even himself.

I enjoyed reading Dragons at Dawn. Although Mona and Braden travel a rocky road, their happy ending made it all worthwhile. Anyone looking for a paranormal romance with a feisty couple should give Dragons at Dawn a try.

Can the boys convince Kari that they’re not going to hurt her, and in fact are everything she’s been dreaming about — and more?

If a reader is short on time but long on wanting to read a book that condenses all the good stuff into one quick and entertaining package, then Howling for Kitty will satisfy the need.

Kari, Mac and Griff are the focus of the story and the goal of the two men is to convince the heroine what they know to be true – that they’d be great together. Their nose knows, so it should be a piece of cake, right? Not so fast. Kari has some past baggage that’s pretty hefty. Mac and Griff are going to have to do some pretty fancy talking, their actions are going to have to provide the proof Kari needs to believe in them, and they have a very short time to do it in. Talk about pressure.

Some readers might think the movement from meeting and into bed is too fast. This is a short story meant to entertain with sexy fluff and romance. My most favorite line in the whole book is, “She was going to smell wolfy for days.” I read it over a few times, with my grin getting wider and wider at each pass. It’s terrific.

Howling for Kitty is quite simply, fun for fun’s sake. It’s not rocket science, it’s entertainment. It has some very sexy scenes that scorched my eyebrows and the characters were cute. The story is a like an appetizer — it whets your appetite for more.

The premise of this series is based on humans genetically engineered and enhanced with animal DNA, to form new breeds of human animals or New Species. Kept as virtual prisoners, subjected to brutal, inhuman and often fatal experimentation, their rescue/release and integration into the world and society at large, becomes a reality fraught with danger…

It can be argued that this premise is similar to another famous author and her equally famous and extremely popular series. Personally, I happen to think it’s like comparing Twilight to True Blood… Similar traits, only within the realm of the fantastical and whimsical.

I found the style, the plot, the characters, the settings… the sheer energy and impact of the story to be gripping, vibrantly crafted and executed. Devastatingly erotic and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish, what a rush!

For those that like a warning; although anal sex is mentioned it is in passing only. A little assertive seduction, more titillating than scary and there is a mild attempted rape scene, that whilst perhaps stressful to our heroine, should not upset anyone too much. There is however, lots of fabulous heart stopping, heart rocking, mind-blowing sex between two lovers, blind to the love that binds them.

I’ve been a fan of Ms Dohner’s since buying my first of hers, Berrr’s Vow and falling head over heels in lust with her Zorn Warrior studmuffin, Hyvin Berrr – and then bought everything else I could get my hands on. What an imagination this lady has! And her work just keeps getting better and better. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

So if gorgeous, over developed, alpha New Species mates of various breeds stimulate your interest, look no further than this wonderful series. Though it can be read as a stand alone, it’s even more enjoyable read in order.

As a pestilence sweeps medieval England, a low-born woman has only the sharpness of her wits—and the courage of her heart…

Edith of Warren Hamlet plays a dangerous game. At the knights’ tourneys across the land, among the lords and ladies, she is a strange foreign princess. But in the privacy of her tent with the other survivors of her village, she is but a smith’s widow with a silver tongue. They are well-fed, but if discovered, the punishment is death. And one knight—fierce, arrogant, and perilously appealing—is becoming far too attentive…

Sir Ranulf of Fredenwyke cares little for tourneys: playing for ladies’ favors, when his own lady is dead; feasting, while commoners starve; “friendly” combat, when he has seen real war. Still, one lady captivates him—mysterious in her veils and silks, intoxicating with her exotic scents and bold glances. Yet something in her eyes reminds him of home…and draws him irresistibly to learn her secrets…

There is pestilence in the land and serfs are dying. Edith’s Lord decides to handle the matter expediently. He herds all the living serfs into the church building, mixing the healthy with the sick, and bars the doors. What does he care if they all die? He can always get more serfs.

It’s easy to see that this author has done some research on this historical era. She emphasizes the difference between good Lords and bad, she shows insight on the character of knights that joust (they are no better than the man they are to begin with), and she shows how hopeless it is to be a serf under a bad Lord.

Townsend gives both of her lead characters strong personalities and a will to survive. Edith attends the tourneys with her friends, impersonating an Eastern princess. She manages to feed them with goods given them by knights who are seeking her attention and her hand. Sir Ranulf is a widower who only attends the jousts to keep his mind from dwelling on his dead wife; he takes no pleasure in it.

I really enjoyed how this author made Edith a spitfire who spars words with Ranulf. He snaps back, often regretting his quick words. In no time at all, the sparks flying between them are not just words, he’s determined to bed her. Of course, she’s determined to bed him, too, so that’s all right. I laughed out loud at the times they got close to “bed” and were interrupted by staff. Seems the best laid plans of mice and men didn’t seem to work out…

Danger is close, pestilence still exists, and Edith’s old Lord is after her adding a tremendous amount of suspense, so the words pass quickly as you read. This was an exciting tale with plenty of plot strings crossing back and forth to keep your interest.

Why not take a trip in time back to medieval England and follow Edith’s adventures? Her life was a trial, but it was going to get better…

Lucrative employment for a whole year? The job of researching the old house and its fantastic contents is enticing – but Rhia Ashton can’t see herself living with gorgeous Luke Salieri and not wanting his body as well. Can she live and sleep with him for a whole year and then walk away? Rhia has her own ideas about what will make it worth her while.

I loved the idea of a powerful man forced to marry a woman because someone manipulated him behind his back. I enjoyed the fact that a supposed amiable and easily led woman turned the tables and made the man face what is important in life. And it’s not the pursuit of money and power.

Monogamy Twist has at its core, a wonderful romance that grows from a practical base. The hero treats it like a business deal and the heroine treats it like an adventure and a challenge. What they both don’t expect is that their personalities mesh, her sense of humor and his inner torment balance each other out. They both heal, they both find love and they both are stunned that a dead woman could have such a profound impact on their lives. The charm of the story is their journey and they go from perfect strangers in lust to friends and partners in love.

Rhia is the heroine and the owner of Thor, the dog. She’s spunky, intrepid and I enjoyed her ability to rise to a challenge and not get bogged down with emotional angst and typical female hissy fits when it comes to jealousy and backstabbing ex-girlfriends. She’s pragmatic at best and equally lusty for her neighbor.

The focus of the heroine’s adoration and exasperation is Luke. Marrying Brandon find these guys discount levitra is her ultimate dream. After one year the cheap viagra tablets patient remained free from headaches. Effervescent form tadalafil india online robertrobb.com also tastes good like other soft ED drugs. Patients should use reduced glutathione in the hospital under doctor’s order cheap cialis supervision. He’s a tortured hero who had a loveless childhood and is a bit dysfunctional when it comes to relationships. He dates the kind of women he knows but falls in love with the kind of woman he needs. Not that he admits that right away. He was so mixed-up, he didn’t recognize the feeling for what it was.

The story is strong and the romance is a delight. The issues that knock down the rating for this book are varied. There is head hopping, strange word/phrase use, a few five dollar words like, ‘salubrious’, a hero who wails his complaint, emotional bouncing not in keeping with the character’s voice or scene, over the top embellishment – case in point, how Luke’s father died – and a lot of narrative where it came across not as a character’s point of view but the author filling me in on the details. The revelation about Luke’s mother made me laugh; the use of Danielle had me rolling my eyes, and after awhile the author forgot all about Thor. I didn’t. Amazingly enough, despite all of the above listed, the author created likeable characters in Luke and Rhia which kept me invested to finding out how they would eventually have their happily ever after. And even though there were some odd mixtures of phrases, their dialogue was often funny and entertaining.

Monogamy Twistis a cute story. It’s lighthearted, enjoyable and Luke and Rhia made a terrific couple. I’m glad I got a chance to read this book because it was a fun way to pass the time.
