And the narrative went a long way in making the book extraordinary. Reading the bedroom scenes were both funny and hot. It was not until the end that the evil surrounding them both became known, keeping me on the edge of my seat until the last chapter. Fallen is definitely a great story and one that will make a lasting impression on you.

What makes this story unique is that there is very little personal detail given, there is simply a man and a woman and one afternoon. This is not a telling of how they met and fell in love, or even a wistful remembering of a great life together as theirs is nearing an end, this is the middle of their story with no beginning and only a hint as to what’s going to come next. Even though no names are used and no indication is given that these two people have ever met before there is a familiarity in the way they talk and how they interact with each other that belays the notion that they are strangers. This is proven to be true when it’s revealed that the couple is married, but other than that no personal information is given about the couple. Childhood sweethearts who finally connect again after years apart…well these types of stories always stir my heart and Becca Dale did a great job of supplying us with the back-story details. The added smoking love scenes? Just icing on this delicious cake.

When Lily returns to her hometown, she is immediately distraught to discover her long-ago heartthrob is about to ride the very bronc that caused his terrible accident eight years prior that also ultimately caused their separation. When these two finally have words what ignites is a blazing fire, leading us into a scorching love-story that will keep you engrossed until the very end. Can over-confident and slightly arrogant cowboy Thor win back his cautious Lily for keeps? I recommend reading this spicy romance to see for yourself.

This is the first story I have ever read of Becca Dale’s and I found myself enjoying this story more than I originally thought I might. I loved that we could feel a wide range of emotions in this tale which made it easier to quickly connect with all of the players involved. The secondary characters were also loveable and intriguing. These combinations make for a very entertaining read. I would have no problem recommending this story to my reading group or my friends. I read it from start to finish in one setting and I must say, I am really looking forward to reading future stories written by the author.

Touching Ice a page turner with explosions and action, and hot passion with a cyborg that gives Megan everything she’s ever dreamed about while watching him. When the incident melts down into an intergalactic incident, Ice is willing to do anything to keep her.

Even though Touching Ice is a part of series, everything is in the story that you need to know to enjoy it. The world-building was well written and the dialogue is fast paced. The scene at the beginning was a bit hard to follow but no less enjoyable.

Ms. Dohner has created a world with the Cyborg Seduction that isn’t always sunshine but dreams of having that one guy can be fulfilled in way beyond your wildest imaginings. Just beware when you pick up Touching Ice that you should be in a place where you can buy the rest of the novels in the series, because I was off to pick up the rest after I finished this book. I highly recommend picking up this book.

TSTL Characters

Haven’t we all run across romance book characters who are Too Stupid To Live? You know the ones—like the heroine who makes the ridiculous decision to march straight into a dumb or even dangerous situation despite her instincts warning her against it. Sometimes characters make bad decisions, just like real people do, but if they have plausible motivation to make those poor decisions, we can excuse them.

For example, if a character walks into a dangerous situation in order to save a child/elderly person/person they care deeply about, well, then that character isn’t stupid, but brave. Heroes tend to do things like this all the time. So why are male characters so often painted as heroes yet female characters are so often the ones who do the plain old stupid stuff?

Now I’m all for alpha males, but frankly, I enjoy a book more if the heroine rescues herself or someone else rather than being rescued by the hero.

In my upcoming romantic suspense book, Protective Custody, I put the heroine in a dangerous situation (which she did not walk into, BTW) when she witnesses a murder. Each time the villain comes after her, she—not the hero—is the one to save herself, except once. It was important to me that Megan not be TSTL. I wanted her to be strong and brave but not quite as much as the hero. After all, the hero must earn his stripes!
