What happens when your dreams come true? Crypt Ross is about to find out after one spectacular weekend with Mack MacKenna. But will it be all that he hopes for?

Still in the closet, custom motorcycle mechanic Mack MacKenna takes his pleasure in long weekends away from home as a silent partner in a members-only style club. These weekends provide Mack with nameless, relationship-less debauchery. Although he’s out to his best friend, he still worries about his family’s reaction.

Crypt Ross is an out and proud up-and-coming young artist who has had a crush on Mack MacKenna since his senior year when Mack talked to his shop class. Since then Crypt has poured out all of his angst and unrequited love into his art, scoring himself a full-ride scholarship to art school.

What happens when Mack and Crypt come together? Will it be happily ever after or love lost?

Grease Paint by West Thornhill is the perfect novel for any reader, be it someone who has just acquired a taste for male-male romance (like me) or a long-time fan. The story between Crypt and Mack is sweet, intense and romantic from beginning to end. In barely 82 pages, Ms. Thornhill builds a romance that feels genuine.

Though we are told that Crypt is young and angsty, he is brave enough to take the first steps into building a relationship with Mack. He’s nervous around the hot shop owner but he’s also confident enough to put his heart on the line and that makes him a true hero.

On the other hand, Mack is very good looking and loves to take little getaways to escape from his family (by the way, I loved the original club where he parties), but I didn’t find a connection with him like I did with Crypt.

The sex was hot, but also sensual and romantic. The kisses between Mack and Crypt were especially thrilling, the author painting a good picture of the sensations and tastes coursing through both men.

Hannah and Tuck, the guy’s best friends deserve a special mention as their love and support was important for the happy ending. They were both really sweet and I enjoyed the level of intimacy they shared with their respective friends.

Grease Paint is a fun, quick, sexy read, thoroughly enjoyable for both the mm newbies and the experts at any time.

After inheriting an old book containing a map from his Great Uncle Jake, Joe Jones travels to Dog Head Island, keen to find buried treasure. But in this isolated, inhospitable place, nothing is as it seems. Nothing, but the snakes that inhabited it. And Jake has a strong aversion to snakes!

Something more sinister than snakes is lurking on Dog Head Island.

When Joe inherits an old book from his great uncle, he has no idea that the adventure of a lifetime is waiting just around the corner. With the help of his mother, his friend Annie, and his teacher, Mr. Grant, Joe slowly begins to unravel the secrets of Dog Head Island. Will they uncover an ancient treasure or something else entirely?

Ms. Andersen put together a very interesting mystery. The code in the book was intriguing, and I liked the fact that Joe and Mr. Grant spent months trying to crack the code rather than somehow figuring it out instantly. Mr. Grant and Joe are smart, but they aren’t experts by any stretch of the word, so their slow but determined process was very believable. Once Joe and his friends arrive at Dog Head Island, the atmosphere definitely becomes creepy. The island is uninhabited, overgrown, and teaming with snakes. The remoteness of the island coupled with the strange things Joe sees and hears really add to the suspense of the story.

Joe is an easy character to like. He’s a very mature and caring young man. He’s thrilled at the prospect of cracking the code in the old book, but even more excited about the prospect of finding treasure. What is most touching about Joe’s desire to find a fortune is his concern for his mother. Joe and his mother have been on their own since his father died, and while they are doing okay, Joe wishes he could do more to help. Joe’s protective streak also comes out when he’s around Annie, a beautiful but lonely girl who is somewhat of an outcast at school. Joe’s friendship with Annie is sweet and definitely has the potential to develop into something romantic. Given their young age, I think their relationship moves at just the right speed. I can definitely see them as a couple when they are a little older.

While Joe demonstrates maturity beyond his fourteen years, he also has moments that prove he’s still a young teenager. In his determination to discover the secrets on Dog Head Island, Joe throws caution to the wind and gets himself into a couple of scrapes that nearly cost him his life. I eagerly flipped through the pages wondering how someone so young could possibly get out of such a precarious situation. However, Joe proved to be a very brave young man with all the makings of a hero.

I do wish Joe would have spent more time on Dog Head Island. It takes months for Joe, his mother, Mr. Grant, and Annie to get to the island. Once there, everything happens so quickly that it seemed like the tale was over just as I was sinking my teeth into the meat of the mystery. I think there’s so much more to explore concerning the code in the book and the secrets of Dog Head Island. I really wasn’t ready for the story to end.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to read Dog Head Code. It’s a quick and fun book that can be enjoyed by anyone who loves a good suspense. Do Joe and his friends find riches on Dog Head Island? There’s only one way to find out. Pick up a copy of Dog Head Code.

Shane and Noah set out to seduce Kitty Velvet into selling them her family’s struggling steel company at a deep discount. They plan a weekend of deception and sexual adventure to convince her to give up the business she spent her life keeping afloat. As they begin their passionate getaway, things don’t go as planned. Instead of putting their rival out of business, they gain deeper feelings for the feisty blonde – and for each other. With their world upside down, Shane and Noah must now decide if business ambitions are worth losing a chance at something bigger than money, and more precious than owning a steel empire.

Kitty has worked hard to keep Velvet Steel afloat, but changing technologies and the growth of their rivals have made the company’s continued viability almost impossible. As she embarks on a erotic weekend to de-stress and regroup, she develops feelings for two strangers who turn out to be the very men who have made her life a living hell for the past year. But is saving her family business worth losing her only chance at love?

Kitty Velvet needs a night off and she knows just where to go. As she is enjoying herself at her favorite club she meets two gorgeous young men. Their party is interrupted and Kitty invites the men to go with her and see where the night takes them. Will Kitty find love or will the mens secret ruin it all? Lies always have a way of coming out; will Shane and Noah’s be worth it?

This story was a hard one for me to get into. We learn quickly on in the book that the men are trying to seduce Kitty and get her to try and sell the family business, which made it hard for me to like them. I found it hard to immerse myself in the romance between the men and Kitty because I continued to think about the men lying to and tricking Kitty. She’s a strong woman who is trying to let off some steam after continuously working to save the company day after day.

The sex is a hot read and it flows well between the three but the sexual conflict between the two men became a distraction for me. In a way it seemed that they just used Kitty to make their relationship all right. Even with this the three are good together and it was nice to see them develop their relationship. There was a lot of attention paid to the lovemaking and not too much on the actual storyline. I kept waiting for Kitty to find out about the lies but every time a scene would end another one would begin. Somebody always seemed to be having sex or the men were dealing with their own relationship. Even Kitty notices this and gives the men an ultimatum about their relationship.

Watching Noah and Shane figure out their relationship was a nice read. The men love each other and begin to have feelings for Kitty but they must find out where their relationship stands before they decide on the relationship that includes all three of them. It was nice to see each man develop a bond with Kitty as well and had me hoping that the three would find a solution to all their problems. Although this book may not a favorite for me, I am a fan of this author and plan to continue reading her work because I know I’ll find another book that will be a favorite. If a hot menage with some lovely M/M action and a bit of deception is what you’re in the mood for, look no further than Velvet Steel.

As a Valkyrie, Kiara of Asgard must look beyond the man to select only the best warriors to fight for Odin. But all her training deserts her when she sees Special Ops Marine Harrison Lombard. Unable to resist him, she saves his life on the battlefield instead of taking him to Valhalla. For her disloyalty, she’s given five days as a human while Odin decides her fate.

During a mission in North Korea, Harrison’s Force Reconnaissance team is ambushed. Critically wounded, he’s straddled by a magnificent blonde wearing a helmet of feathers who eliminates his pain. Before he can find out who she is, she’s gone. When she turns up in the States months later, he can hardly believe his luck—or the fire burning between them.

But Odin still has a claim on Harrison’s soul. Will his angel of mercy save him again? Or has she come to collect?

Kaira didn’t know why she was dreaming about the warrior she was to collect for Odin’s army. She just knew she felt a connection to him. When she sees him, all the training and all the rules go out of her head. He’s handsome, he wants her, and the connection between them grows. She defies all her training and takes another dying male next to him. She leaves him a feather to cure to him and remove his memories…

Ms. Keller’s Marine is a strong man who is brave and independent. He knew he almost died, but he still has this vision of an angel who came to visit him. He wants to see her again. Ms. Keller’s Valkyrie is a beautiful woman who has magic and is part of an elite team. She has worked hard to succeed as being the best in her team. I found it very easy to relate to both characters; it might be fantasy, but the author expresses true emotions.

The conflict between Odin and Kaira is tense. She has broken rules. She can either be punished or she can die. He does almost the worst thing to her; he makes her human. Kaira is tormented. How does a woman who previously had god-like powers adjust to being a human?

Here is where the author does a great job of adding human interest and a bit of sparklies to the story. She places Kaira in Harrison’s room during a big event at home and has relatives come busting in the door shortly thereafter. The conversation is enough to make you laugh and it’s great fun to watch the Marine and the Valkyrie try to respond and react appropriately.

I had to keep reading to the end of the story because this was just a short visit for Kaira and we all know Valkyrie’s and humans can’t marry. The author has found a unique ending that was most appropriate for this story. I really enjoyed it. Why don’t you try it and see what you think?

In the classical myth, Zeus, the king of gods, kidnaps the beautiful youth, Ganymede, to live with him on Mount Olympus.

In this modern retelling, Zeus is from the stars and lusts after rock star Ganymede. In any setting, their love is legendary.

Once a rock star, always a rock star?  Not if Zeus has his way.

I love a Jack Greene story. Why? They’re short, quick, and so sexy. In just a few words, Greene conveys a slew of emotions and has me right in my seat needing to know more. I liked the character and the way they ended up in the same room.

Zeus and the other gods are not just gods, they are there to observe the humans. Keep them safe but don’t get involved. It’s a novel idea. The gods aren’t the gods in the usual trope in this short and it’s a good thing. I like the change. Ganymede, the rock star, was easy to relate to. He feels like he’s living in a fishbowl. He wants to be himself and love who he wants. But there’s a few issues. He carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. When he and Zeus come together…whew! Hot.

My favorite character was Eros. Now there’s a guy I want to see a story for. Heck, I wanted to see him jump in the fracas with Zeus and Ganymede. Talk about hot. That would’ve been so good. I liked the ending, just throwing in my two cents.

If you want a hot read that’s quick and simple, then this might be just the book for you.

SPOILED AND UNGOVERNED, FITZ WAS NOT SUITABLE COMPANION FOR A LADY OF FASHION….

And certainly no proper chaperon. Fitz begged to disagree–after all, a dog was a true Incomparable as far as friendship, loyalty, and protection–and soon lovely Miss Sonia was plucked by her rusticated roots and packed off, dog and all, to London. Perhaps there she would find a husband to tame her free-spirited ways–and keep her out of trouble.

Sonia, however, always had a soft spot for the underdog, and Darius Conover was such a fellow. Scorned by society for a scandalous deed, Conover was not redeemed even by his heroics in battle. Until he met Sonia and Fitz, two passionate souls undaunted by even the most odious circumstances–and decidedly determined to undo the shackles binding his heart.

Sonia was going to pick her own spouse, not get matched up with some high toned gentleman who wanted her money. She was going to marry for love. However, that was never going to happen if her grandmother had anything to say about it…

This book is set in Victorian times, when the ton could make or break any member of society. I find this time period interesting to read about, but I’d never survive there. I’m too outspoken and make my own decisions. That’s why I liked Sonia. She was just like me and her antics and softly spoken snide comments made me grin.

Sonia’s father has spoiled her. When Sonia let his prize dog out during heat and the prize dog from the farm next door impregnated her, he was furious. But Sonia saved the puppies from death and even claimed one for her own. Here’s where the book gets really good: The new puppy, Fitz, has his own contribution to the story. Have you ever read a book where an animal tells the tale? I enjoy those and enjoyed Fitz’s contribution to this story, too. Fitz tells you about how a dog views life and how silly humans are. With all that goes on in this story, you almost have to agree with him.

The author introduces Sonia to a wounded war veteran that has been slandered and is scorned by the ton. She then takes her main character through a variety of attempts to help clear his name. Add in a newly remarried father who goes off on his honeymoon, three children who are living with their uncle (Sonia’s love interest) and a ton member who wants Sonia’s money for his gambling debts and the story gets very interesting indeed.

Amusing and heart-warming, this tale grabbed me. The dog’s voice is a great addition, and I found it very easy to relate to the young woman and her “impossible” love. In fact, I liked this story so much I have purchased a copy for my library. I’ll re-read it. Any story that leaves me with a big smile on my face is a winner in my book.

When an alpha Delta Force leader and a prosecuting attorney meet at a bondage club, which one will be the top and which one the bottom?

Slade Donovan has been a Delta Force team leader for years and the missions are beginning to wear on him. He’s been a Dom for longer than that, but now he’s tired of the string of faceless women and wants to find the right sub and form a permanent relationship. Someone who understands his life and can deal with it.

Kari Malone excels in her role as a prosecuting attorney but the iron control she needs to do it gets tiring. And her search for the right man is fraught with disappointments. When a friend introduces her to the D/s scene, she finally finds an arena where she is able to both shed her mantle of control and indulge in her sexual fantasies. She meets Slade, also a guest, and their brief connection is instant and intense.

Five years pass before they meet again. By now, as Butterfly Kari has created an alternative life for herself at The Edge, a very private bondage club. Her search for the right man falters when she realises none of them can compete with the memory of the man she met in Chicago. When Slade turns up at The Edge it’s apparent from “Hello” that the heat between them has been simmering all this time and is about to explode. But can each of them provide what the other needs to make this work?

Want to see two strong, dominant characters collide in the bedroom? If so, this might just be a book for you.

Slade Donavan is the leader of a Delta Force team. But he’s so much more than just an alpha male on the battlefield, he also likes to dominate in the bedroom, a role he prides himself in. But what happens when he wants more than just a woman to play with, what happens when he needs someone to share his life with? Kari, an assistant district attorney, works hard and plays hard too. But since a meeting with a Dom, when she was a young, naïve sub, five years ago, she’s been searching for that very Dom but without success.

The author introduces us to Slade first in this book; he’s in Afghanistan doing his thing with his team. I got the feeling I was being introduced to them as I got a description of each and they planned their ‘downtime’ trip to Slade’s ranch . This included hopes of taking a visit to The Edge, Slade’s local BDSM club. This was all a nice way to build reader anticipation – you just know its going to get good and raunchy when a group of hot guys are intending ‘that’ sort of evening.

Coincidences sometimes don’t work well in novels, but this one, I am happy to say hit all the right buttons. The Dom Kari has been dreaming of is Slade, and they bump into each other at The Edge. Slade is thrilled that when he introduced Kari to BDSM she obviously enjoyed it enough to learn more, play more. Kari is overjoyed that the man no one else can live up to has her naked, manacled and crying for more strikes within minutes. This is one hot scene – grab yourself an electric fan.

But the book goes deeper than that because both Slade and Kari are looking for more than just fun in the bedroom. They sense a connection and a similar sense of life goals. Ms Holt portrays their romance beautifully with dates, sweet kisses and getting to know one another. All a stark contrast to the wild sessions of kink at The Edge. There is also a good dose of war-zone action if you like the grittiness of fighting soldiers.

Unconditional Surrender is well written, has compelling characters and is very sexy. It’s a good length to lose yourself in and I for one would be happy to see what stories the other members of this Delta Force team have to tell.

Kyle McAvoy grew up in his father’s small-town law office in York, Pennsylvania. He excelled in college, was elected editor-in-chief of The Yale Law Journal, and his future has limitless potential.

But Kyle has a secret, a dark one, an episode from college that he has tried to forget. The secret, though, falls into the hands of the wrong people, and Kyle is forced to take a job he doesn’t want—even though it’s a job most law students can only dream about.

Three months after leaving Yale, Kyle becomes an associate at the largest law firm in the world, where, in addition to practicing law, he is expected to lie, steal, and take part in a scheme that could send him to prison, if not get him killed.

With an unforgettable cast of characters and villains—from Baxter Tate, a drug-addled trust fund kid and possible rapist, to Dale, a pretty but seemingly quiet former math teacher who shares Kyle’s “cubicle” at the law firm, to two of the most powerful and fiercely competitive defense contractors in the country.

Danger comes in the unlikeliest forms.

I know when I pick up a novel by John Grisham, I’ll be transported to a new world. Okay, so that world looks a lot like mine, but still. The writing is tight and I’m immersed in the plot, trying to figure out who did it, why and how they’re going to be caught. The Associate gripped me.

The thing I liked the most about this book was the main character of Kyle. Maybe it’s because I could see a lot of myself in him. Maybe it’s because Grisham wrote him in a way I could sympathize. Either way, I was a happy reader. Kyle is a law student and flawed to boot. He wants to be his own man and not live in his father’s shadow. Thus, he makes lots of mistakes. And who can’t relate to that? I’ve said, I won’t do that–only to realize my folks weren’t so far off. I also liked how Kyle kept his humanity. He’s in a situation most people couldn’t understand. He’s being scouted by what seems like a firm, but it’s nothing that he expects. I loved how he outwitted Bennie. The twists and turns really helped shape him.

Another thing I liked was that Kyle and his family weren’t perfect. Dad, although, he’s a good lawyer, is a horrible husband. He loved his wife, but couldn’t handle her. Patty has her own demons and it’s understandable why she’s hard to deal with. But that fact made her more human and interesting.

I have to say, I wanted to see a little more between Dale and Kyle. I won’t give too much of the plot away, but there could’ve been some serious steam there. I wanted to know more.

If you want a legal thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then this might be the book for you.

How did I spend my summer?
My summer has been a wonderful nightmare. I’ve been stretched to my limits with stress and bad luck but each time something good evolved and left me thankful for the chain of events.

It began at exactly four a.m. one night. My husband and two of my sons were out of town so it was just me and my youngest at home snuggled safely in our beds. Sound asleep. The doorbell rang, but it didn’t just ring once. It rang and rang like someone was holding the button down.

I panicked, of course. Who wouldn’t when the doorbell rings at 4 a.m.?

Jumping out of our beds, my son and I met in the kitchen. The dog started barking, the cats ran for cover, and my son and I stood frozen at the end of the hallway while the doorbell continued to resound through the house. We hugged each other and peeked around the corner toward the door.

It didn’t stop ringing.

Eventually, I gathered all the courage I could muster and crept to the door to peek out the window.

No one.

I opened the door.

No one.

It took five minutes for my heart to stop pounding, and still, an eerie feeling hung in the air.

Apparently, the battery had gone dead in my doorbell. Not a big deal, but it scared me half to death, which turned out to be a good thing. My creativity really kicked in after that. Story after story burst into my dreams, and I plotted two new novellas during the next two HOT weeks when my central air was out. Yes, that was more bad luck, but it gave me time to get more writing done.

I prefer to look at the positives, so that’s why I call my summer a wonderful nightmare. All it took was one crazy and frightening incident to spark my creative energies.

Why all my books take place in summer
By
Jennifer Stevenson
I write romantic comedies and I set them all in summertime, the season of eternal youth. Like love, summer lasts forever. If you fall in love in summertime you will have that love the rest of your life. Every summer thereafter will remind you of the certainty, the glory, the exhileration of love’s roller coaster.

P.G. Wodehouse, seniormost god in my personal pantheon of romantic comedy authors, never wrote a story that wasn’t set in summer. He knew what he was doing. His universe, like mine, is the place where young lovers can do crazy things in the name of love, mess it up, and yet always wake to another sunny day to make their dreams come true. His summers were mostly English, although he set some later novels in the US, especially Long Island, where he spent the latter part of his life.

My summer stories take place in Chicago and thereabouts. Midwestern summers have their own charm, as Ray Bradbury recorded so memorably in Dandelion Wine. Remember the chapter where the kid talks to the shoe store owner about the immense power of new sneakers? If you were ever released from school into three months of unstructured play, you know the power of summer.

Summer flowers of the midwestern prairie roast under the sun, but never wilt. Lightning bugs and tree frogs make twilight magical with their light-and-sound shows. Nighthawks dive hundreds of feet through clouds of gnats. The clouds themselves arrive suddenly, build massive mountain ranges in the sky, dump floods and hail amid spectacular donner and blitzen, and then as suddenly depart, leaving us all steaming. Whether you’re walking on burning city sidewalks or skimming down country roads on your bike, you hear cicadas sawing away. A raindrop hits the dust and perfumes the air.

The Slacker Demons series is meant to be a series of firecrackers for summer readers. Like many heroes in my romantic comedies, these guys think of life as one long summer vacation. I don’t like to spoil that illusion by putting them through a Chicago winter, but I do like to drag them, kicking and screaming, into love. Each heroine is affectionately designed to make her personal slacker demon as miserable as possible…until he surrenders.

Don’t get me wrong. Chicago has truly miserable winters. I certainly shovel my way through them, fighting snow-sluggish traffic, shuddering under blankets, praying for a sight of the sun. Cars throw gobs of slush at me as I cross the street. My purple wiper fluid runs out halfway home, or simply freezes onto my subzero windshield.

But I promise you this: you will not find a Chicago winter in my stories.

There will be only endless days, ripe tomatoes still hot from the garden on your plate, cold beer in your hand under the stars, crickets just beginning to chirp at eight p.m., maybe a band playing in the park, the smell of the lake wafting in your bedroom window, and him, the love of your life, walking across the shadows on the lawn, coming to get you.

About the Author: Twenty-five years or more ago, Jennifer Stevenson was born under a cabbage leaf, dreaming of becoming a hack writer for the pulps. After a flustering detour down the rabbit-hole of literary fiction, she located a trail of breadcrumbs and followed it here, where she finds new uses for old sex demons and celebrates smart-mouth women. Find her on Facebook or follow her on Twitter.

Her latest sex demon romantic comedy, It’s Raining Men, book one of Slacker Demons, is available here: http://tinyurl.com/7cy559n. For something definitely weirder, try her roller derby vampire romance, A Taste Of You, available here: http://tinyurl.com/8ytcoou.
