Pamela Kimball’s birthday present, a 1Night Stand adventure, promises to jump start her life, put a new man in her bed, and help her forget her past. Unfortunately, movie-buff Pam’s Pirates of the Caribbean fantasy takes an alarming wrong turn when she’s abandoned on a not quite deserted island—with ex-husband Roger Ware.

Forced by hunger to accept Roger’s offer of dinner, Pam realizes the geek she married has transformed into one of the most charming, sexiest men she’s ever met. His newfound confidence—and hot body—re-kindles old fires. A simple kiss leads Roger to challenge her to discover how much his lovemaking skills have improved, leaving Pam torn between self-preservation and burning desire.

With time running out before they’re rescued, Pam must decide if her heart can survive the consequences of becoming Roger’s “almost” perfect 1Night Stand.

Madam Eve’s One Night Stand is where all your fantasies can be realized, no matter what they may be.

Divorced for five years and celibate for two, Pamela wanted a pirate adventure along the lines of Pirates of the Caribbean. Instead of being ravished by Captain Jack Sparrow, she wanted to have an unforgettable night with Will Turner (or maybe Orlando Bloom!).

Her friend Sue helped her set up her adventure with Madame Eve as a birthday gift to her, and off she went to the Castillo Resort in Miami. Excited beyond all reason Pamela couldn’t wait to board the boat that would start her adventure. Instead of being wrapped in the arms of Orlando, she was unceremoniously hauled off the boat, placed in a dinghy and marooned on a desert island. Furious and thinking she was alone, she turns around and is faced with none other than her ex husband Roger. Of all the people in the world why was her “Pirate” her ex husband, and why wasn’t he dressed like one?

After reading the blurb for this story I knew this would be a fun read, especially since she had divorced Roger because the sex was boring. She referred to sex with her ex as being ‘Pee-Wee’s Big Top Adventure with the good bits taken out.’ That had me chuckling which made me look forward to reading more of this delightful story.

This is a short story but it had characters that I liked and wanted to see back together. Everything to Pamela was like a movie, and all the movies mentioned I had seen so I could truly relate to what the character was describing. Personally, though, I would prefer Captain Jack to Will Turner, but that’s just me.

Charity Barlow wished to marry for love. The rakish Lord Robert wishes only to tuck her away in the country once an heir is produced.

A country-bred girl, Charity Barlow suddenly finds herself married to a marquess, an aloof stranger determined to keep his thoughts and feelings to himself. She and Lord Robert have been forced by circumstances to marry, and she feels sure she is not the woman he would have selected given a choice.

The Marquess of St. Malin makes it plain to her that their marriage is merely for the procreation of an heir, and once that is achieved, he intends to continue living the life he enjoyed before he met her.

While he takes up his life in London once more, Charity is left to wander the echoing corridors of St. Malin House, when she isn’t thrown into the midst of the mocking Haute Ton. Charity is not at all sure she likes her new social equals, as they live by their own rules, which seem rather shocking. She’s not at all sure she likes her new husband either, except for his striking appearance and the dark desire in his eyes when he looks at her, which sends her pulses racing.

Lord Robert is a rake and does not deserve her love, but neither does she wish to live alone. Might he be suffering from a sad past? Seeking to uncover it, Charity attempts to heal the wound to his heart, only to make things worse between them. Will he ever love her?

To be a penniless orphan looking for a way to make a living or be a marchioness is a decision Charity Barlow must make; to live with wealth and magnificent homes or perhaps be a governess in someone else’s home, living in the shadows and teaching someone else’s children.

It seems expedient to marry the new marquess. He’s strikingly handsome and willing to postpone consummating their marriage until they get to know each other better and then only for siring an heir and a spare. Also, it’s what her deceased godfather wanted. However, Charity believes marriage is a sacred institution, plus she always dreamed of marrying for love.

Robert, the new marquess of St. Malin, sees marriage as inconsequential and doesn’t believe in love. His proposal is upfront with Charity. He will marry her to keep his vast inheritance, but he will continue living the life he likes—mistress, gambling, racing, and London Society entertainment pastimes. He’s determined to keep his freedom but magnanimously offers her all the perks of being a marchioness.

Maggi Andersen takes the late nineteenth century mores of London Society, a self-centered young nobleman, and a countrified, intelligent, kind, ‘all-alone’ young woman and creates a captivating story of love—in a time when love and fidelity were SO out of fashion.

The petite, delicate Charity tackles the task of being a marchioness full-steam-ahead, hoping to make her husband love, trust, and respect her. She showcases all the fancy clothes and exquisite jewels he feels befit a rich marquess’ wife. She sits for a portrait that he commissions. Moreover, she copes with the gossip, flirting, and one-upsmanship that ebb and flow in the ton. Still, her husband is remote, though flawlessly courteous. He neglects her until she “made a mistake”. In a jealous rage, he berates her.

Wow, does he find out his Charity is no little country mouse. When he roars at her, she roars back at him with accusations that hit home—like, he’s spoiled, pompous, self-centered, careless and unkind toward her.

Robert, stuck in an emotional time warp that goes back to his early teens and with a mindset of the privileged nobility struggles with “keeping his freedom” while learning to manage his estates vast wealth, and keeping his enticing little wife at bay emotionally.

As his metamorphosis makes him complete, he finally becomes a worthy hero to the generous heroine who berates herself for not being more appreciative of things he did for her before he realized he loved her.

While Maggi Andersen uses the usual elements found in romances set in this historical era in English, she weaves them together uniquely so The Reluctant Marquess sparkles and captivates. She captures the reader’s senses with delightful metaphors and compelling comparisons. The scents, sounds, etc. of London compared to those of Cornwell take the reader into the settings to feels the differences. This unique parallel is rather symbolic of how Charity and Robert’s relationship unfolds. While in London their relationship is polluted with all the trappings of Society, but in Cornwall it is fresh, clean, and pure; strong enough to find that happy-ever-after. Good entertainment.

Sara is having a love affair with books. But, since books can’t make love to you, it means she’s in the middle of a very long dry spell. Until a sexy Brit shows up. Suddenly she’s learning just how stimulating a library can be—up against a bookcase, behind the card catalog, on the circulation desk . . .

Meanwhile, Veronica is incredibly frustrated. While Sara and her new man are using the library as their personal adult playground, she’s stuck with only her thesis and her sexual fantasies. But Andrew, her crush, isn’t above using his . . . assets to get Veronica right where he wants her: alone, in a darkened corner of the stacks.

Who knew reading could be this pleasurable?

Libraries are usually boring and quiet, right? Not in this story!!! The librarian gets some action in the stacks and elsewhere in the library. Even her assistant squeezes in some extracurricular time.

Sara Owens is the youngest assistant head librarian of special collections at the university library; she’s only in her mid-twenties. She’s a hard working, follow-the-rules type of person. She hasn’t had a boyfriend in a while, but has been intrigued by a handsome British professor-type guy who keeps checking out books on various subjects. William Hammond has been doing research in the United States, but is stalling on his return to Europe due to his desire to become acquainted with Sara, the beautiful librarian. When Sara finally picks up on his hints, with some help from Veronica, the sparks fly between Sara and William. Sara does has moments of doubt when her sense of duty is at war with her desire for the handsome William, but he convinces her to fall for him.

Veronica’s job is not clearly stated, but she appears to work as a circulations clerk, checking books in and out. She’s a college senior, working on her thesis in the library during her off-duty time. She aspires to be a librarian, hoping to go into the library sciences program as a grad student. Veronica has recently broken up with her boyfriend, Andrew, because she saw him kissing her roommate. Little did she know that it was a misunderstanding since Andrew had a very good reason for what he did. Andrew had to work hard to convince Veronica of the truth, so he used all of his manly talents to win her back.

The narrative is very descriptive and does not disappoint. Down time barely exists in this novella as we go from one sexy scene to the next. I was a bit concerned that Sara doesn’t know much about William before they get together, but this is an erotic novella after all. In real life, how many librarians would actually risk their jobs to have sex with a patron in the library while it’s open for business? This novella is in two parts, with Sara and William’s story in Part One and Veronica and Andrew’s story in Part Two. Both parts are full of hot scenes in the library, fulfilling the title of the book.

Lust in the Library is an erotic escapade sure to increase the temperature in any room you read it in. Be sure to have something or someone nearby to help you out when it gets too hot.

One night, unable to resist the smell of delicious cookies, Burrufu sneaks out and is discovered by Olivia. The two soon learn that you can find friendship in the most unexpected places.

‘My Monster Burrufu’ is a story of fear overcome, a curse, and a most unusual monster who learns from a little girl how to trust his heart.

Olivia and her father are moving to the country so he’ll have a quiet place to write. Olivia wasn’t sure if she wanted to live in the country, but then she saw the house. It was a big old Victorian type with lots of rooms to snoop in and all kinds of things to discover. She just didn’t expect to discover a monster…

This author does a very nice job of creating a young girl character who never knew her mother, has a busy father, and is a lot braver than I was at her age! He’s made her easy to love because she’s gracious and kind (and makes good cookies) and she wants to do the right thing. The other characters are her father, his agent, and the monster. Mr. Corral’s monster is not all that scary, but he has one talent that creates panic: he magically grows when people are fearful of him.

He makes his story interesting by creating a monster who writes stories and likes cookies. It’s a charming story that younger middle grade readers should really enjoy reading.

Alessandra Sorrentino is the illustrator and her graphics made reading the story even more fun. The monster has long claws and wears a scarf; Olivia looks like a doll walking next to him. Young readers should enjoy looking at the illustrations and imagining themselves in the same situation.

Mr. Corral and Ms. Sorrentino’s collaboration on this book has produced a wonderful fantasy for children to read and smile over. The ending was a surprise, but it’s most appropriate. I’d just start keeping an eye out if your child suddenly starts baking a lot of cookies. Who knows who you might find?

When I first started to read this story I thought they’d been some mistake on the page count because it seemed to go into the background of one character with lots of detail. However, I soon realized how clever Ms. Blumhagen had been in packing in so much detail and information in this very short story. It’s a gritty mystery and the author gave us insight into a killer and the killer’s mind which, as I mentioned, isn’t an easy thing to do in a short piece.

The victims were also clearly drawn and I felt myself wishing they could escape the killer. The dialogue is very realistic sounding and the pacing fast. I also enjoyed the wilderness setting and thought it added just the right touch to the theme of this story.

If you like a mystery with lots of depth but haven’t got time for a full length novel, I’d recommend this one to you.

Faced with an abhorrent betrothal, Cailin Macmillan flees her father’s castle and quickly learns that a woman traveling alone in Medieval Scotland is an easy target for ruthless English soldiers. When Highland patriot Connor Fraser comes to her aid, his steadfast dedication to king and country is challenged by his overwhelming desire to protect Cailin—even if he must marry her to do so.

Accused of murdering one of her attackers and determined to rely on her own resourcefulness, Cailin dresses as a lad, intent on seeking refuge at the camp of Robert the Bruce. Can she elude an enemy from her past—a vindictive English lord bent on her utter demise—or will she fall prey to his carnal intent and be executed for a crime she did not commit?

No halfway measures in this story; it practically jumps off the pages with action, heart-in-the-throat close calls, and love scenes that heat the blood and send it racing. Highland Legacy reaches out and grabs one’s attention and emotions and doesn’t let go until the very end.

Eighteen-year-old Cailin McMillan, feisty, intelligent, and tenacious, decides the outside world she knows little about has to be better than her father’s cruelty and his despicable plans for her. She finds the horrors and hardships she suffers along with the danger that nips at her heels often rival her father’s treatment. The tapestry of her life is dark indeed, until Connor Fraser, a Highlander warrior comes to her rescue. He brings a touch of light to her dark story—a light that grows to a glowing golden love, albeit, not without going through the fires of refinement. To her he is magnificent—one of God’s masterpieces.

Connor Fraser has pledged fealty to Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland. He knows death stalks him as he rides into battle after battle. Consequently, he wants no wife that could be his widow at any moment; nor does he want to love someone. The hurt of losing his parents and two brothers is still a raw, aching pain in his heart.

He’s laird of the Fraser clan since Alasdair chose not to accept the responsibility when their oldest brother died. Big, crude, insensitive Alasdair is older than Connor, but leadership is not for him. viagra best prices You can consider these factors as vital aspects in your search for the right institute. Bryce, the younger brother, is far more civilized yet just as loyal and good in a fight as his brothers. These three are a force to be reckoned with.

Set in the early fourteenth century when England was determined to place Scotland under English rule, Highland Legacy bristles with hostilities, intrigues, and vicious inhumane treatment of people. During this era, English law allowed nobility to get away with murder and all kinds of horrific treatment especially to women. It curdles the blood to see the absolute lack of value placed on women during this time.

The antagonist, Lord Borden, borders on insanity in his vendetta against Cailin. He and Cailin’s father are the darkest threads in the tapestry of the heroine’s life.

But, while extreme cruelty stalked the land at one end of the continuum, at the other end, extreme love that knows no bounds is strong and true, a bright golden thread that eclipses the darkness. The breathtaking, earth-shattering love Connor and Cailin share is spellbinding. WOW!

B. J. Scott’s Highland Legacy is exciting, graphic, sometimes humorous, and always gives a sense of urgency. While not a long story, it is chocked full of compelling characters and has all the elements one expects to find in a historical set in the Highlands during this era. Ms. Scott’s writing style engages the senses and emotions without let up. Good reading!

Loyalty to her lord compels the Otu woman-warrior Sora to risk her life trying to find her tribe’s hated enemy, the Waban. Her mission: to kill their leader. Instead, she becomes the prisoner of the enemy’s powerful war-leader, Hakan. His mission: to turn the bound woman at his feet into a sex-hungry creature worthy of the powerful man who rules the Waban. But Sora is nothing like the submissive slave-whores he’s accustomed to. Instead, he finds himself pitted against a courageous, if helpless, adversary. No matter how completely he controls her body, the warrior spirit that is part of her heart and soul remains.

As days and nights flow together during the long trek back to Hakan’s village, hatred gives way to a wild attraction neither wants but they can’t fight. Long-held secrets become confidences whispered during frenzied sex. But deeply ingrained loyalty to their leaders compels them to continue to see the other as the enemy until treachery and deceit awaiting them at journey’s end threatens their survival. Will it bring them together or rip them apart?

Beautiful setting, page-turning anticipation, and compelling, strong characters you can’t help but root for. Enemies has all the elements you need for a fantastic escape from day to day life!

I can’t tell you how much I love these characters. Sora, a female Otu Warrior, is strong, courageous, and determined. When she’s captured by a Waban war leader and sworn enemy, Hakan, she must endure his certain torture to avoid being broken and carry out her mission to get to the Waban Elder. While refusing to back down, she seemingly submits, yet never loses focus of her goal, to collect information about the Waban tribe and bring it back to the Otu.

Hakan, although fierce and threatening, is a wonderfully complex character. His inner turmoil – does he treat this captive as just another spoil of war, or give her the respect her warrior status commands – is gripping and enjoyable. From the moment they first meet in battle, Sora stabbing Hakan before Hakan renders Sora unconscious, you can feel the attraction, admiration and respect the two have for each other. They are perfect equals in a world where neither should have one.

I loved how protective Hakan was of his captive, although he knew she was very capable of taking care of herself. The undeniable pairing of these two was done gradually and with perfect intent, every step of their relationship drawing them closer together until there was no question the love they felt, despite their individual senses of duty and obligation to their respective tribes.

Ms. Harper is an expert in her setting. I know little of native culture, but was never lost in the perfect world she has created. The adversarial relationships, differences in language, and even day to day living were so wonderfully laid out that I was not only able to follow the story, I became lost in it. I felt a part of their world, and that takes a very talented writer.

The love scenes were sensual and erotic, but also served to further connect the hero and heroine. Through both points of view we are able to experience Hakan’s struggle with the “spell” this irresistible captive had over him as well as the Sora’s attempt to retain her distance from the man who claimed to own her. Their individual struggles were believable and served to bond them even further, since both understood the other in a way that few could.

The only piece of this wonderful story that was missing was their ultimate expression of love. They each thought it, but never spoke the words to each other. Ms. Harper has such a beautiful use of language for the natives, I was hoping to hear how they each chose to express themselves to the other. In the end, it was an assumption, but we didn’t get to witness the conversation taking place. I missed it, but even without the words, their dedication was unquestionable.

If you like a story that takes you to another time and place, and a love story that leaves you breathlessly rooting for the hero and the heroine both, THIS is definitely a title to pick up!
