A blue troll and a big growly gal of a polar bear have got to be the most unlikely and imaginative love combination ever invented. The great thing is, it works, it’s fun and it’s a great story to spend an afternoon with.

Ms. Kane has given readers a woman who is very direct and unabashedly sexual in the very best sense. She’s free with her opinions, discerning as to whose favor she wishes to incur and knows she looks good. Tundra is a heroine who lives life on her own terms and isn’t apologetic about it. That sense of self and her complete confidence in her decision making ability is actually what gets her involved with the hero – and in trouble.

The hero, Blue, is totally cool. He’s big, he’s mean and isn’t afraid to get his fists bloodied. He’s just as ferocious in the bedroom, much to readers and Tundra’s delight. Actually, with her, the hero has a soft spot and it becomes clear early on there’s something more to their bedroom games than simple lust.

I also found this tale, told in Tundra’s point of view, has fascinating words and phrases that really gave me a sense of the heroine’s attitude about herself and life in general. I enjoyed those insights and they made the reading experience all the more interesting. If all blue trolls are as yummy as Blue, then count me in for reading more. It was so thrilling!

I was anxious to see how the author was going to deal with Jane’s pregnancy in this book. Kudos to Ms. Gerritsen for not allowing Jane to wimp out and keeping her true to her nature. Instead, she pushed forward and let nothing get in her way. It was nice also to see her softer side when interacting with her now-husband, Agent Gabriel Dean. Their developing relationship gives the often caustic Rizzoli another layer of substance, making her an even more enjoyable character.

Each time I pick up the next novel in this series, I know I’m going to be treated to an exciting and yet sometimes gruesome story. Body Double more than delivers on that promise. So far, for me, this has been the most intense and enjoyable story of the series and I cannot wait to see what the next book holds in store for me. The added layers of Maura’s past increase the intrigue of the usual murder needing to be solved and makes it that much more personal, engaging the reader on a deeper level. I highly recommend this fourth book to anyone looking for an edge-of-your-seat thriller to keep them up at night.

I loved this story on many levels. It’s interesting, colorful and well written. I immediately empathized with Max and then Roz. Ms. Lucas does a wonderful job of feeding in plot points in a realistic manner and keeping the pacing active. The reader is rooting for the lovers to reunite and hoping that Roz is the lost love or can direct Max to the woman who is. An excellent story that deserves a best book award in this reviewer’s opinion.

I was thrilled to be the one to review this book, as I have been following these character’s lives from the beginning and was eagerly anticipating reading the love story of the alpha male “Justice” who is the NCO leader at the headquarters of the “New Species”.

“New Species” are much stronger, faster and larger than humans, but many of the male “New Species” have discovered that their true love-mate is found with a human female, and since “New Species” females cannot conceive, human female mates are birthing their future.

Laurann Dohner definitely dazzles as she shows her followers why she is a reigning “sci-fi writing queen” with this superb addition to the “New Species” saga. These books sizzle with romance, the plot twists are fast paced and action filled, and brings the reader to a futuristic scenario filled with exotic sexual heat and exhilarating exploits.

Simply put, Ms. Dohner brings her tales to life!

The chemistry between the main characters, Justice and Jessie is absolutely electric!
I do suggest reading this series from the beginning if you possibly can, as it makes it easier to follow the development of her individual creations.

My only complaint was not with this book, but was with the fact I could not trade in my hubby for a “New Species” male since technically they are only part of our imagination. Sometimes life is simply not fair, (LOL) but at least I have great stories like this one to fuel my fantasies for days on end (*sigh*).

With a touch of humor and a unique slant on animal magnetism in mixed DNA couples, these books drew me in and thrust me into a world that compels me to be emotionally invested. This is one book many will want to save and reread.

Joey followed Max and her father into Law Enforcement because of Max and the work he does. She likes the fact that she can bring the dead back to life and get justice for them. She learned that from Max and her father.

Kim lives in a small town (population 495) in Wisconsin. From her deck she can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. She lives with her husband Dave and dog Sammy. Her two children are grown and two grandchildren and for that fact she feels blessed. She loves to watch people and that has helped her with her writing. She loves to create characters and put them in a troubling situation and just sit back and let them do all the work. I really like the fact that Zoe doesn’t do anything rash when trying to solve the mystery. She understands that the person terrorizing Emma is dangerous and she always takes someone with her or lets someone know where she will be. It is clear that Nate didn’t do it, but by the end of the book, the true culprit of that crime hadn’t been revealed. It would have been nice to have that loose end tied up.

The tension and chemistry between Zoe and Nate really gives this mystery an intense romantic flavor. At first, the future of their relationship is uncertain due to some of Nate’s actions over the past year, but Zoe isn’t the kind of girl to suffer in silence. She speaks up and lets him know what she’s thinking. While Zoe is completely head over heels in love with Nate, I love that she has a very strong sense of self and isn’t willing to compromise her personal values. Her refusal to play games, and her honest, open way of communicating are all very admirable traits.

The Secret of the Love Letter is a thoroughly enjoyable romantic suspense. Zoe is a wonderful character, and I look forward to reading about more of her adventures in future installments of the series.
