How strong are the ties that bind?

Compass Brothers, Book 4

Leah Hollister’s sex life needs a swift kick in the pants. Small-town Compton Pass, though, isn’t the place to explore her need for bondage. When she gets an invitation to a BDSM party out in LA, she wastes no time booking a flight.

Her plan to play anonymously is shot to hell when she runs into high-school crush Sawyer Compton—and he lays immediate claim to her.

Sawyer Compton commands total control, in and out of the bedroom. He never thought Leah could handle his darker urges, but one look at the white bracelet that marks her as a sub ripe for the picking, and he knows exactly how this night is going to end. With Leah in his bed.

Leah didn’t expect to enjoy the comfort Sawyer’s familiarity brings, even as his touch takes her to unimaginable heights of pleasure. When bad news from home sends him reeling, she’s more than prepared to offer him anything he needs: her body, her friendship. Even her heart—if Sawyer can loosen the reins over his own to accept her love.

Western Ties is the final book in Mari Carr and Jayne Rylon’s Compass Brothers books, and it’s a most emotional and yet supremely satisfying conclusion to this family epic. It’s filled with passion, family devotion, disappointment, tragedy, and the feeling of coming home.

Leah Hollister has feels her sex life is less that it could be. She jumps at the chance to explore her fantasies away from those who know her. The last person Leah expected to see at the BDSM party was her old school crush, Sawyer Compton. When Sawyer claims Leah for the weekend, things start heating up quickly. When bad news comes, life comes to a screeching halt, and Sawyer and Leah return to Compton Pass, Wyoming. Can Sawyer forgive his brothers for what he sees as a betrayal? Leah will have to be there for Sawyer, knowing she wants much more than he’s offering. Can they find what they are looking for in each other?

I love how throughout this series, Ms Carr and Ms Rylon stressed the importance of family, and acceptance of each other’s strengths as well as their weaknesses. Nowhere is this more evident than in this last book, Sawyer’s story. The Wyoming world the authors built is perfect for the scope of these books. I loved the small town feeling imbued in these stories. All of the family was involved in this one, more so than the others. Each character has a role here, but it’s definitely Sawyer and Leah’s story in the forefront.

Leah Hollister is the small town kindergarten teacher, who feels her life is boring and bland. She wants more from life. She’s felt for some time that she might be less vanilla in her desires, but has no one in Compton Pass with which to experiment. I like Leah, with her determination to reach out for what she wants to get more from life. I could feel her chagrin when the one person she never expected to see claimed her at the party. It doesn’t help that Sawyer was her best friend growing up, she isn’t sure she can give up control to him.

Sawyer Compton may be the youngest Compton, by a few minutes, but he’s definitely a force to be reckoned with. All the Compton boys are alpha males, but Sawyer has a dominant streak a mile wide in the bedroom. Strong, handsome and sexy, he can get any woman he wants. But when he sees Leah at the party, something clicks inside, and he’s determined to make her give up control. He sees in her what he has been looking for; a strong and independent woman, but one who can give up control at the right time. I liked watching Sawyer as he slowly came to terms with all of the emotions thrown at him; passion, betrayal, pain, and finally acceptance. I also enjoyed watching as this strong and dominating man began to understand what one woman could mean to him.

Western Ties is a story of a man coming to terms with the things life does when you least expect it. I love the path Sawyer has to take, although it’s gut wrenching at times. Ultimately, this story is one of familial love and how it overcomes even the worst of tragedies, making each person involved stronger. Yes, this is Sawyer and Leah’s happy ever after, but this one shows sometimes it takes a lot more than two people to get to that place in life. Yes, there is lots of hot and sometimes kinky sex, but there is so much more between these two characters. There’s a lifetime of friendship and understanding, with a big dose of comfort and support along the way.

Watching as Sawyer discovered he has loved Leah far longer than she realized was one of the joys in this. But I have to warn the reader-this will use more than one box of tissues, and lots of ice before the end. It’s best if read Western Ties after the others in the Compass Brothers series for the full story of this family.

He can’t fight his inner beast, but she can tame it.

Bloodhounds, Book 2

Ophelia retired from life as a prostitute, but her new position is even more complicated. Managing the bloodhound manor in Iron Creek is difficult and time-consuming, a job she enjoys less with each passing day. Then there’s her inconvenient attraction to Hunter. The newly turned hound seems eager to enjoy her company, but wary of anything more intimate.

Having survived the violence of his first full moon out of a cage, Hunter isn’t looking forward to his first new moon. Ophelia offers to be the woman who sates his needs during the three long days of sexual fury, but he can’t abide the thought of hurting her in a state of mindless lust. Especially since she longs to settle into a respectable life, and his needs are anything but respectable.

Their mutual goal is simple: avoid entanglements. It’s a solid plan, at least until a vampire drug lord and a couple of nosy Guild representatives force them to work together to defend their friends and everything they hold dear—including each other.

Hunter is a bloodhound unlike any other. He wasn’t created by the Guild, but was held captive by vampires and tortured mercilessly until the bloodhounds searching for Nate rescued him. Raw and untrained, he fears what he will do during the new moon, when bloodhounds need to find a female capable of handling their wild urges and strength. As manager of the Bloodhound manor, Ophelia has made arrangements at the local brothel to help Hunter get through the new moon, but things don’t always go as planned. When the time comes, only Ophelia can soothe the beast in Hunter and satisfy his hunger. But once the three days of the burning is over, can Hunter come to terms with what he feels for Ophelia?

Hunter’s Prey is Moira Rogers’ second foray into the post apocalyptic Wild West, where vampires are the ultimate evil, and men become bloodhounds to be better able to battle. It’s a harsh and unyielding world, filled with colorful and unconventional characters, and a world I truly enjoy visiting. I like that the rules of civilized society don’t work here, and people have to learn to work together regardless of past experience. We do see a brief glimpse of Wilder and the others from the earlier book, but this is mainly Hunter’s story.

Ophelia is a former prostitute, and is now the manager of the Manor, headquarters and home of the Iron Creek bloodhounds. She’s strong and courageous, and determined to live life on her own terms. She thinks she wants to leave, but when Hunter needs her, she discovers an inner strength along with fierce attraction to the bloodhound. I liked Ophelia, her strength and her spirit. I was really delighted with how things went during the new moon, and enjoyed the way she was able to handle Hunter at that time.

Hunter is a beast trying to come to terms with his new circumstances. In his lucid moments, he’s determined to protect Ophelia, not realizing she wants to be with him. I liked that his beast knew more about who was right for him than his rational mind was willing to admit. I enjoyed watching as Hunter slowly became more comfortable with his new circumstances, and began to piece together his past and his new life. Hunter is something new in this world, not created like the other bloodhounds, and a bit of a wild card. But he’s one of the ‘good guys’ and he’s loyal, honest and determined to do the right thing.

This is a story of a harsh new world, with danger around every corner and lots of things that go bump in the night. Not only do people have to deal with the evil of the vampires, there is the deceit of the sheriff, and the other beings created by the vampires. Hunter and Ophelia learn the only ones able to help them are each other, although they do get some assistance from the visiting bloodhounds during one very bad time. Of course, this wouldn’t be a Moira Rogers book without some decidedly hot bedroom action, and this story doesn’t disappoint in that respect.

Ultimately, this is Ophelia and Hunter’s story, and it’s a beautiful, if unconventional, love story. One forged in passion and peril, but with a love strong enough to bring both safely through it all.

They’re a match made in the hallowed halls of Quantico. Until Death comes knocking…

Six years ago, Kara Bryant tapped into the mind of a serial killer—and nearly became his last victim. Her FBI colleague and lover, Davis Martin, put the murderer behind bars, then devastated her with his abrupt rejection. Worse, the vivid nightmares that followed her to her desert retreat have recently taken a fresh, frightening turn.

She should have foreseen that Davis would turn up. She’s just not sure her still-broken heart can take the strain.

Davis thought he’d made the right decision for everyone involved in a case that almost ended in disaster, thanks to his mistakes. But with a new string of killings that one by one is taking out the women of his past, suddenly he wonders if he let the real Death Angel get away. Kara is the only one who can help him nail the bastard for good this time—if she can forgive him.

He wasn’t expecting the woman he never stopped loving to love him back. Nor is he prepared to come face-to-face with Kara’s secret. One that raises the stakes impossibly high.

Some people think what Kara Bryant does is a gift. Kara thinks it’s a curse. Just when she thought she’d put the past behind her, things have an uncanny way of coming back to haunt this ex-FBI agent. Killer Moves features a couple that get a second chance, but only if they survive.

There’s a lot of angst in Kara, especially when the past comes knocking in the form of someone she once worked with. Then came startling news along with a man she prayed she’d never see again. Kara is weary and a little unsettled, and though I don’t agree with one of the decisions she’s made, she’s a likable and strong female lead. It can’t be easy for her to have a mind connection with a killer. The strength of cheap kamagra dose is categorized in three different doses viagra canada cheap of 50 mg, 100mg and 150mg. Davis Martin loved Kara. But he loved his job more. Or did he? What went down all those years ago? Everyone has a different side to that story. It could hardly have been easy to choose between the person he loved and the call of duty. Is it for protection or selfish reasons? Those are just a few things that the reader learns about Davis, and the past he shared with Kara, in Killer Moves.

The suspense is high, the pacing fast. There’s a new killer in town that has everyone on edge, fearing for their lives and their loved ones. Mary Eason skillfully crafts a tale that sends the characters on a wild goose chase to find a serial killer. Everyone’s a suspect. No one can really be trusted. This is the type of book you’ll want to read during the day, or you might jump at every little sound otherwise. Do I speak from experience? Yes! I read this at night, and was so involved that, even though my stomach was in knots, I needed more. This is a read in one sitting kind of book because the tension gets thicker. Every chapter brings a new lead and new twist. Putting the book away even for a few moments was like torture.

Before Carissa has time to react to her sister’s disappearance, she’s kidnapped and taken deep into the Colorado mountains. Her kidnapper swears he’s protecting her, but Carissa doesn’t know what to believe. He emanates danger, strength and raw sexuality. She’s drawn to him, craves his demanding kiss and the slide of his hard body against and into hers.

Quinn has always been an outsider, scorned and mistrusted by other Therian shapeshifters. Now he’s in the middle of a budding civil war and he’s not sure how to disentangle himself without endangering Carissa. Though her powers are latent, Carissa has the potential of becoming the most powerful Therian the world has ever seen.

It was Quinn’s intention to bring Carissa to safety and simply walk away, but one taste of her sweet lips and he knows he’ll never let her go. She won’t be truly safe until she’s selected her mate—and he intends to be the one she chooses.

Therian Prey is a diamond in the rough. When I read the blurb, I thought it sounded like an interesting paranormal read. All I can say is the blurb doesn’t even scratch the surface of what is between the covers of this book.

Carissa has had quite a day. Business is dangerously slow for her and her sister’s business, she practically melts into a puddle when a customer comes in, gets attacked by two men who turned into wolves, gets kidnapped by “puddle man”, and then to top it off she gets carried away by what appears to be rather large bird. Even though all this and more has happened to her all in one night, the worst of it is, her sister Ava was kidnapped too.

Quinn thought tracking and retrieving the Seymour twins would be a piece of cake. Tracking is what he does and he’s one of the best. Yes, he found his marks, but the problem is there are at least two other factions that want them, too. Now he’s in a race against time to secure Carissa and then help find her sister. To add to the frustrating situation he now has to deal with the complications of Carissa being in heat. Breast Cancer is a cancer that develops from the situation generally known as diverticulosis. buy women viagra He never wanted to get this involved, but his attraction to Carissa is an unstoppable force.

What an amazing world that Ms. Friberg has created! There was political intrigue, ancient voodoo, clan wars, archaic traditions, even secret medical testing. Carissa thought she was just an average girl running from a frightening past. She is so funny and strong and a joy to read. Quinn is just sexy. He’s a man who has known loneliness and heartbreak. He’s been ostracized for something he wishes every day had never happened. Now, helping an old friend, he just wants to do his job and get out.

I enjoyed that this book was filled to the brim, but not overly done. The action was exciting and the love scenes were scorching. The characters were all engaging and the world building was refreshing. The plot line still has more to reveal and I can’t wait for the next installment.

If you are looking for more than a sexy story, this book is for you. Therian Prey is a well written book with everything a paranormal reader would want. Even if you don’t like paranormal reads, pick this one up. I have a feeling it will change your mind.

Susan Murphree always heard you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your handsome prince, but she’d settle for one honest man who didn’t act like a toad. Her hot new neighbor, research fellow Robert Taj, certainly doesn’t look like a toad, but Susan has learned looks can be deceiving. Sure, he has a sexy foreign accent and a drool-worthy body, but anyone that mysterious must have secrets.

Robert’s secret is that he’s a real prince, heir to the throne in the tiny European country of Cartasia. Now that he’s in America all he wants is to focus on his research and be accepted for the man he is, not the title he bears. Once he’s fallen for Susan he worries revealing the truth will mean losing the only woman he’s ever loved. Can this real life fairy tale have a happy ending?

The story had a cute concept, and I really liked the inclusion of random frog appearances. It gave what could have ended up as a trite romance a little bit of whimsy. Frogs aside, there were absolutely no surprises in this book. Within the first two or three pages, one knows the outcome, and has a fairly good idea of how the author is going to get there.

Don’t mistake me, that does not mean it’s a bad book or that it is not worth reading. Quite the contrary! The author is talented and the story is a solid romance – and gives the romance reader exactly what they want: a “happily ever after” with some conflict thrown in to make the final scene sighworthy and satisfying. Believe me, that is exactly what this book delivers.

Having the best friend and the bodyguard “hooking up” was convenient, but a nice addition to the plot. By the finish, Robert’s bodyguard is very much a part of the story.

When you are in the mood for a romance, but don’t have the desire to focus on a complicated plot, this is the book for you! Put it on you list today!

What happens when good and evil don’t so much collide as merely annoy each other? Which, when young men are involved, quite often means that they really want to get to know each other.

Ash, a low level demon, and Cas, a low level angel, become aware of each other — in more ways than one — and set out to prove that good and evil can exist in close contact, even complementing each other. They blur the lines and cross them frequently with surprising and almost devastating results.

Life is not always as black and white as it seems, and the shades of gray can sometimes be so much fun. Aszebizel (Ash) has always seen things in black. How else is a demon suppose to see the world? Casimir (Cas) on the other hand has lived his life as white as possible. When both of these men meet, their black and white starts to seep and blur into one another creating a beautiful gray connection.

The age-old battle of good versus evil has always made for an intriguing romance story and this is no exception. I really think Ash and Cas complimented the light and dark of one another perfectly. Both were willing to go out of their comfort level for the other and even sacrifice themselves. This is something unheard of in the battle of angels versus demons and made the relationship much more significant. I felt the internal battle of each character from beginning to end. I also enjoyed the emotional drama that came from their difficulty in accepting their relationship even though they’d taken the baby steps to accept one another as they were. I found myself rooting that they would be able to show others how accepting they could be of each other.

While this story is labeled erotic there was little to no sex through the story. There was no intercourse, just some heated make out sessions, and some touching. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of a physical or sexual relationship. Yes, I could tell the characters were physically attracted to one another, but I wanted to see them act on those feelings more. If they had, it would have just solidified the relationship for me.

This story gave me exactly what I would expect from a story based around a demon and angel falling in love with a few twists and turns along the way. If you are looking for a story to help you understand the shades of gray better, this is the story for you.

INTERVIEW: L.A. WITT

Long and Short Reviews welcomes L.A. Witt, whose latest book Where There’s Smoke was released on February 21 from Loose Id, LLC. Lori has worked in the porn business as well as erotica/erotic romance business. She was a film editor in the porn business and, of course, she’s an erotic romance author. She is in a unique position to explain the differences, and I asked her to do so.

“Honestly, they couldn’t be more different. Porn is strictly mechanical. Even in the videos I worked on, which featured people who were couples in real life, it felt fake. It was a performance, done for the cameras and the director, not the partner(s). In an erotic romance, the characters aren’t just going through the motions and fucking for the benefit of the reader. They should be connecting,” she said. “Erotica falls somewhere in between the two, though I would generally put it closer to erotic romance than pornography, mostly because I like any erotica I read or write to have at least some emotional involvement. Not love or romance per se, just some sort of emotional investment for the character, even if it’s simply an exploration of something new, crossing a previously uncrossed line, etc. I want the character to come away with something. Porn doesn’t need – and I’ve rarely seen it have – that kind of investment.”

Lori doesn’t believe in writer’s block. She admits that things happen to make it difficult to write, such as depression, fatigue, or distraction. She’s always taken “writer’s block” to be its own ailment.

“Everything else if fine, you just…can’t write. And I don’t buy that,” she told me. “Especially since a lot of writers seem to ‘get’ writer’s block, and then sit back like they just have to wait for it to pass before they can write again. When I find myself unable to write, there’s always a reason for it, and 99% of the time, it boils down to one of two things: something’s wrong with the book, or I’m burned out. Usually it’s a problem with the book. If I absolutely cannot get a word on the page, or it’s nothing but excruciating word dentistry, then I’ll put it aside and work on another project for a little while. Most of the time, the words will flow, which tells me there’s a problem with the first project. If I can’t get anything written on the second project, then it’s burnout. I’m getting to the point now I can recognize the signs before I actually hit that burnout, but sometimes I stupidly push through and exhaust myself. Seems to be about every 6 months or every half a million words or so. When I do hit that point, I make myself take some time off. Usually two weeks. By the end of that time, I’m absolutely climbing the walls, itching to start writing again.”
Lori has recently moved back to the States from Okinawa. She lived with her folks for a couple of months before she moved to their home in Nebraska, but she’s very excited to be in a larger place now. Why?

“I finally have a writing space! I had one in Okinawa, which was basically one half of a room that was part storage, part office. Then I lived with my folks for two months before moving here, so I set up shop on their dining room table for a while. But now that we have a larger place in Nebraska, I have…an office!! And a proper desk. And all the books that were in storage for the last three years. I so love my office. I have an L-shaped glass desk, which rocks because it doesn’t have anything—drawers, legs, etc—in the middle for me to clip my kneecap on. Plus it’s the perfect size for my laptop, some need-to-be-within-reach books, my spiral notebook, and my cat. I have a lovely view of a squirrel-inhabited tree in the backyard, plus some farms on the other side of the highway. There’s a whiteboard above my desk where I make notes about deadlines, upcoming events, etc. Off to my right is a poster of 30 Seconds to Mars, because they’re the awesomest band ever (yes, I’m 31, and I have a rock band poster on my wall. Don’t judge me.). Let’s see, on my desk…my iPhone, Kindle, drink, bunch of pens, a mug with the cover of A Chip In His Shoulder on it, usual office stuff. I also tend to take off my wedding ring when I type because it gets annoying sometimes, and when I do, I keep it in a little abalone shell that I picked up while snorkeling off Okinawa. Did I mention I love my writing space? Because I so do.”

Book titles, for Lori, tend to happen on their own. She’s had help in the past, like brainstorming with friends, and sometimes will still do that, but usually the title will just sort of happen.

“It bugs me to no end to write something without a title, so I typically have one by the time I start the story, though it occasionally changes,” she told me. “The Distance Between Us, Reconstructing Meredith, Trust Me, A.J.’s Angel, and The Next Move all started out with different titles. Others, like A Chip In His Shoulder, Damaged Goods, and most especially Static, had titles that were pretty much set in stone and a part of the story’s ‘personality’ from the start.”

The hardest part of writing for her? The sex scenes. Not because she’s squicked out or anything (“Hardly!” she retorted), but they just seem to take three or four times as long to get on paper as any other scene.

I asked her what her work schedule was like when she’s writing.

“I usually screw off on the internet in the morning, but start writing no later than noon. Then I’m at my desk (or writing by hand on the couch, in a restaurant, at a park, at the library, etc) until dinner time. Take a break for dinner and cartoons with the hubby, then back to work until midnight or I reach my daily quota (5,000 words). Sometimes I’ll keep going beyond my quota, occasionally even hitting 10K or more, but I usually stop around midnight. Then go to bed, try to sleep, wake up, and do it again. I do this 5-6 days a week.”

Her most interesting writing quirk is that she is not a linear writer. Instead, she writes out of sequence, usually switching between five or six of them at a time. Her current WIP has twenty-three chapters, and Lori has already started twenty-two of them. Only eight chapters are finished (and those aren’t the first eight!) She even writes paragraphs in fragments.

“It’s kind of bizarre, but it works,” she said.

She’s written around forty books. Her favorite is Static, followed by Reconstructing Meredith which she wrote under her hetero pseudonym Lauren Gallagher.

“They were both very emotionally taxing to write, which made them more rewarding in the end,” she explained. “Plus they delved deeper than some of my other books into some issues that are near and dear to my heart.”

Before long, temptation explodes into a sizzling, secret relationship, but under the microscope of the media and the relentless scrutiny of the voting public, Anthony and Jesse can only keep their secret for so long. And this is one scandal a campaign won’t survive…

INTERVIEW: LINDA HADAWAY

Long and Short Reviews is pleased to welcome Linda Hadaway, whose latest book, Dark Side of Purgatory, is available from Wild Child Publishing.

Normally, in Linda’s writings, the plot will come to her first; however, in this case it was Jaxon Slater—the epitome of every woman’s “bad boy” she was attracted to in her youth.

“Well, maybe not every woman,” Linda clarified. “You know who you are.”

Jaxon awakes to find himself dead in Purgatory—a story of addiction, recovery, love, and hope.

“If you read the book, you will find yourself cheering him on in his quest, laugh with – or at him – and maybe even have a heart wrenching sigh or tear,” she said.

With One Step Away of Danger, Linda was living in the woods in a small trailer when she got the idea.

“I was simply lying on the ground staring at the clouds. It was a warm summer day and my thoughts wandered until a little seed was planted. I didn’t start to write the story until several years later, but it had started there. Sometimes plots develop themselves…I may have an idea and then as I start writing- it takes on a ‘mind’ of its own.”

Linda has lived in Skagit Valley, in Washington State, all her life apart from a couple of years.

“It’s beautiful- now I live where elk herds can be seen and eagles fly over the Skagit River. People are friendly and help one another. I wouldn’t live anywhere else.” She laughed and added, “But I do like to visit Vegas when I can.”

Linda has always made up stories—when she was in second or third grade she wrote a story about a bunny that her mother kept for a long time. She never really thought of herself as an author, however. Just someone who liked to make up stories.

When she was in her thirties and in college (“Yes,” she told me, “I was a high school drop out”), she began to write—short stories, poems, and finally novels.

“When I received one hundred dollars for a short story,” she explained, “I began to think- maybe I can really do this.”

In the past seven years, Linda has written four novels and is working on her fifth; she said she couldn’t name a favorite, however.

“The books are kind of like children- where you love them all- but they are all different in their own way,” she said.

Linda told me that she doesn’t really write every day; however, she is very goal oriented and does very well with timelines.

“For instance, I may not be writing on my newest book this week,” she explained, “but instead working with my editor on re-writes for my book on contract. So certainly- I have some writing going on pretty much constantly.”

“What do you like to do when you are not writing?” I wondered.

“I have so many things I enjoy doing. Family is most important, of course. I am an avid reader and have been known to inhale a book over a weekend. I started making quilts this year- so made 7 over the year for grandkids. I like to sew- stitchery- cross stitch. Then there is traveling/ having a picnic by a creek.”

It’s the simple things like this that make her happy, as well: a hug; her three-year-old grandson saying “I love you”; being with her daughter when she delivered her baby; a special smile from her husband; hearing from someone who liked her book(s); rainbows; a running creek in the summer/ winter.

“I can’t even think of them all,” she admitted. “Oh yeah! Winning a little on the slots in Vegas!”

Linda told me that there are times she gets “stuck” when she’s writing, but she don’t think she’s ever had a “block” where she couldn’t write anything. When she does get stuck, she lets her mind work on it subconsciously while she works on the book for a week or so.

“I might have to give myself a push,” she admitted, “but then it all starts to flow again.”

“What is the most surprising thing you discovered while writing your books?” I wondered.

“That even though I am a nice person- I can create some bad-evil-mean characters. They come alive and sometimes I surprise myself on how bad they are. Do I have a dark side hidden beneath my ‘niceness?'” she asked rhetorically.

Linda told me that the digital publishing industry has opened up avenues for her.

“For me, it seemed easier to get published and I love my Kindle. However being able to hold MY printed paperback in my hands was monumental for me. Not like giving birth, mind you, but it was the physical proof that ‘I was there. I was a real writer now!’ My dream had came true and I had something to hold up and say, ‘See what I did?'” she said with a laugh.

“How to you keep your writing different from others that write in this category?” I asked.

“That’s the thing—I dance around. I write women’s contemporary- suspense- paranormal. I suppose the main theme is love,” she said.

A professional writer once critiqued a portion of Linda’s suspense novel One Step Ahead of Danger and told her that it would be a “coffee table conversation book” and “not something you could put on the market.” Linda didn’t listen and give up; she kept plugging away and made the book better.

“As you can tell, I don’t always do what I’m told,” she admitted. “Even doctors can have a different opinion of what is wrong with a person.”

Finally I asked, “What group did you hang out with in high school?”

“The kids that sat in the back of the classroom and smoked behind the gym…of course!”

Doug and Laura thought they bought Galaxy Farm, but the old house is possessing them instead..

Doug and Laura Locke are New Yorkers who need a fresh start, so they move to Galaxy Farm, an old thoroughbred stable in Tennessee. There Doug finds inspiration to write his epic novel and Laura renews her love of teaching. They also rediscover the love that first drew them together.

But the home has many secrets. There’s a graveyard hidden at the property’s edge, and tragic deaths stalked the previous owners. Doug has become entranced by the abandoned taxidermy he discovers in the attic. And Laura falls under the spell of the ghosts of twin girls she meets in the old nursery. Only a local antiques dealer senses the danger. She has gruesome premonitions of horrible events to come. She knows she must convince Laura of the threat before the dark force in the house can execute its plan. But time is short, and something seems to be very wrong with Doug…

For some people, trouble seems to follow them wherever they go. For Laura and Doug, a new start was needed. How were either to know the dangers and strangeness awaiting them at their new home? Dark Inspiration takes the reader into a story of legends, ghosts, and a terrible darkness you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy.

The situations Laura deals with could break a lesser woman. Not Laura, though. She has a tendency to act first and consider the consequences later. Evenso, I admired this character’s strength and willpower. What are 4T Plus capsules? viagra overnight delivery This is an advanced herbal formula in 4T Plus capsules. I found myself rooting for her the whole time.

Doug is Laura’s husband and the man drove me crazy. He comes off as emotionally distant in the beginning and I had hoped that their move would make things better. He only went down a dark path even further. Creepy and intriguing, his character drew me in even more.

While the pacing is strong, it wasn’t fast. There were times the narrative drove down the pacing of the story, but the characters were what stayed true. Secrets were still to be uncovered about the house they lived in, and that was the drive for reading. Especially when strange things started happening.

The author creates an eerie setting in Dark Inspiration. Fans of the supernatural can expect a story filled with the unexplained and the unknown. The ending shocked me. Overall, the book was enjoyable and had me at the edge of my seat. The writing is so vivid I even jumped a few times at “sounds in the background”. That’s what I love about a good thriller with ghostly elements.

If you’re a fan of the genre, love ghosts and are drawn to the supernatural, then do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this book!
