Jeremy, a lonely and obese teenager, shoots into the limelight when a headstrong public health nurse persuades him to sue the food industry. Tossed into a storm of media buzz and bullying, the teen draws the attention of a serial killer who’s targeting the obese. Soon the boy, the nurse, and their loved ones take center stage in a delusional man’s drama.

We are living in a highly advanced era where things are supposed to simple, easy, straight forward sildenafil canada and not anything less than perfect. Through fiction, “Eating Bull” explores the real-life issues of bullying, fat-shaming, food addiction, and the food industry’s role in obesity.

You hear it every day – obesity is becoming an epidemic in our country. But what can we do about it? Are we becoming overweight simply because we’re too lazy to exercise and eat right or is something more sinister afoot? Public health nurse Sue Fort is leaning towards the latter.

Jeremy Barton represents a huge portion of our youth these days. He’s the son of a single mother who works two jobs in an effort to keep her head above water. Despite her love for her son, she finds herself feeding him too much fast food and leftovers from the buffet restaurant where she works, just to streamline her life somewhat. Because of this, Jeremy is grossly overweight. As a mother, my heart went out to him in so many ways. I know the struggle to put healthy, tasty meals on the table every night after working a full day. I also know the struggle involved in motivating your children to be active and healthy when you can barely bring yourself to get out of bed in the mornings. It’s a real fight, and the author portrays it in excruciatingly real detail.

The public health nurse that comes to Jeremy’s rescue is Sue Fort. Jeremy describes her as the ‘warrior woman’ from the moment he first sees her in the ER. This is the perfect description for Sue because she essentially goes to war with the food industry over Jeremy and cases like his. At times, Sue was too sunshiney and annoying for my tastes, but she always meant well, even when she temporarily lost sight of her initial goal.

The premise of Eating Bull intrigued me. Having struggled with my weight all my life, I was interested to see how this would all play out. While exciting and suspenseful, this novel was also quite educational as well. I learned a lot of things reading this book, many of which hadn’t ever occurred to me before reading Eating Bull. One of my favorite quotes from the book aptly sums it all up: “Everyone blames the individual. ‘Eat less,’ they say, or ‘take more stairs.’ Yes, those are important things to do, but what these people don’t understand is how hard society makes it.” The thing is, society doesn’t make it tough simply by making fast food and pre-packaged goodies taste so yummy, but they also put this enormous pressure on you to start exercising today and be ten pounds lighter by tomorrow. Sadly, it doesn’t work that way. If it did, we’d all be bikini models.

Eating Bull is a medical thriller for the new millennium. Forget that there’s a serial killer targeting overweight people and focus more on the fact that our country in and of itself is trying to kill us all. That alone ought to be enough to keep you awake at night. Well written and engaging, I found myself reluctant to put this book down.

Fallen Men by Brian O’Hare is a story of three priests. All are good, spiritual men but why does young Father Ray Canavan Ray find himself on trial in a Dublin court for statutory rape of a minor? And why is his equally popular friend, Father Dan Patterson, raucously accused of murder by a member of his congregation as he attempts to celebrate a Requiem Mass? And why does Canon Tony Mulholland so lose sight of his priestly responsibilities that he tries to cover up Ray’s indiscretions by sending him to hide in Italy ?

When one sin destroys not just one life but several others, all the while leading them to a stronger faith.

Father Ray Canavan is a diocesan priest who struggles with a troubling past that he can’t quite remember when he meets beautiful Maria and less than charming Father McGennity. The diocesan priest struggles to come to terms with his vocation, a family tragedy and the desire to do God’s Will.

Fallen Men is a phenomenal story of tragedy, redemption, and the amazing Grace of God. The immediate sin and subsequent attempt at cover by the Church is one that the reader may often see in the newspapers and tabloids. Yet, what happens behind the scenes is where the real magic by Brian O’Hare occurs.

The reader learns about the heart of the priest at the center of the scandal, the pain that the media and presses cause as well as the desire to be free from the sin of sexual immorality. The humanness that the author shares with the reader is one that cannot be understated. It is easy enough to believe that the transgression was horrific, but the pain and suffering that the transgressor feels is not one that should be overlooked. When the Church looks to control the future damage that will inevitably come, even more damage is done to both the priest and the victim.

The full impact of the events that occur are not lost on the reader. What I truly enjoyed was the deeper plot of becoming more Christ-like. Father Dan, one of Father Ray’s best friends sees spiritual ethics as black and white; immediately causing a rift in the strong friendship. The initial knee jerk reaction by Father Dan and the impact that the search for redemption has on all of the priests in the diocese are lessons that the reader is drawn into first hand.

This is one book that you do not want to miss if you truly want to know what happens in the heart of a priest!

When one more look-alike woman bearing her name is murdered just blocks away Genevieve Gordon flees Witness Protection to hide in the isolated woods of northeastern Oklahoma where she spent her childhood summers. There she encounters the best friend of her youth and her teenage sweetheart, JD Burke, a boy she’s never forgotten.

While the shadows of the past gather, and Genevieve fights to survive, JD vows to protect her from the obsessed stalker who draws ever closer. But as JD wrestles with his private demons, who will protect her from him?

JD and Genevieve had spent some wonderful time together as children – some of the best times of Genevieve’s life. Hunted and running, she finally decides to take control of her world back and heads to the one place she truly feels safe – their old summer camping grounds. JD is also trying to take control of his life, suffering from PTSD and feeling himself a danger to everyone around him, he’s determined to force Genevieve to go – only that’s not what he really wants deep in his heart. Can these two lost souls find their way forward together?

I found this to be a very solid, plot-focused mystery/thriller style story. While it took me a short while to really get into Genevieve’s character, I instantly enjoyed JD’s rough style and really felt for him. Despite all his problems and demons – and regardless of how poorly he expressed himself and came across, he really did have every good intention and in his own way he was trying to protect everyone around him, Genevieve especially. I really loved his character from the very beginning.

I was a little disappointed with the pacing of the story at the beginning. Admittedly, there was a lot of “set up” that needed to occur – explaining Genevieve’s situation, then her flight from the Marshalls etc. Being honest, I can’t find much in those first few chapters where it would be possible to trim the story down. But even while reading this and accepting it, I couldn’t help but feel it made the story drag. It felt clear to me we were simply setting everything up and moving from A to B to C so that we could get to the real meat of the story at D. Even though my perseverance though all this introductory set up paid off wonderfully when the pace sped up, it wouldn’t surprise me if some readers give up instead of slogging through – and that would be a shame as this story really is excellent once it gets moving. Ironically, I also felt the tie-up of the romantic ending was a little too pat. Part of me wondered if perhaps the author ran into a tight word-limit or something similar, as the ending just didn’t feel as well paced as the middle section.

The pacing in the middle of the story was excellent. I loved the slow progression of the romance budding between JD and Genevieve and the slow unfurling of the mystery/suspense plot. That coupled with really complex, interesting characters made much of this story a real pleasure to read. I thought there was buckets of chemistry between JD and Genevieve – more than enough to fan the romantic flames between them. I also liked not none of their relationship was particularly easy for either of them. They both have secrets, regrets and baggage, both are far more complicated adults than the kids they used to know each other as. This made the story really vivid and deeply, complex and interesting for me.

A solid mystery with a wonderful plot and what I found to be an interesting, believable romance with deep, realistic characters and lots of good chemistry.

Can love between two rival clubs survive without someone taking the ultimate fall?

Dirty Bastard begins a new series and collaboration for two amazing authors, Emily Minton and Shelley Springfield. It is an amazing read that already has me hooked on the series.

The plot had an intriguing setup where a betrayal ended an uneasy friendship between two MC clubs but also for a young Boz and Trix. Years pass before they meet again. Boz is now the president of the Grim Bastards and when an important gun shipment goes missing he is manipulated into thinking it was Trix’s dad’s club, the Satan’s Revenge MC. He makes the choice to kidnap his rival’s daughter, namely Trix, and she is taken along with her best friend Addy. Trix has grown into a strong beautiful woman perfect to be an Old Lady. The attraction is still as hot as ever but they fight it at first because of hurt feelings and the trouble between the two clubs…until Trix is put in danger and they finally give into their desires. Even then the drama wasn’t quite over as Boz continued to be betrayed over and over with Trix caught in the middle.

This plot was fantastic ! The authors played up the gritty club life, the corruption, greed and betrayal. It had plenty of smoking hot sexy times and even some sad sweet moments. It was well written and flew by at a lightning speed. I loved the characters, even the interesting secondary ones, especially as the story left off with something going on between Brew and Addy. I can’t wait for their book. I’m sure that other biker romance readers will love this book just as much as I did.

Will the third time be the charm? A duke can’t marry just anyone. His wife must be of good family, be fertile, be young. Struggling playwright Sarah Pettijohn is absolutely the last woman Gavin Whitridge, Duke of Baynton, would ever fall in love with.

She is an actress, born on the wrong side of the blanket, and always challenges his ducal authority. She never hesitates to tell him what she thinks.

However, there is something about her that stirs his blood . . . which makes her perfect for a bargain he has in mind: In exchange for backing her play, he wants Sarah to teach him about love.
However, this oftentimes leads to muscle tensions and aches when no action cialis generico 5mg is taken. This cialis on line is due to harmful manufacturing processes and low quality. By the grace of on cialis line , we are now getting susceptible to a serious problem called erectile dysfunction. These foods not only cause life threatening disease but it is a condition that can spoil relationships, break marriages, crush confidence and personality and is thus sildenafil for women a critical issue.
And he, in turn, has a few things to teach her about men . . .

This is quite the fascinating historical romance. Of course there is a wonderful and well written romance to enjoy, but it’s the surprising betrayals that affect both Sarah, the heroine, and Gavin, the Duke of Baynton that truly set this novel apart.

I liked how the author set up the scene in the first chapter – both main characters had their reasons for being in the same place but they are as far removed in goals as one could be. And yet, that one event set the stage for all the intrigue and conflict that would later occur. The breadth and scope of it isn’t even hinted at but once Ms. Maxell set the wheels in motion, the story takes off and I was thoroughly entertained.

I think my favorite aspect of the book is the fact that both Sarah and Gavin were at odds with each other. There’s a strong attraction between the two and it certainly complicated things, but only in the best ways possible. Watching them fall in love with each other was a spectator sport that completely entertained, probably because of the intense lust and sensual buildup as their prickly relationship continued. It started off on rocky footing, and the author introduced so many reasons to feel sympathy for both Sarah and Gavin. Some were downright sad, yet, Sarah is a plucky heroine with a ton of pride, and Gavin is no slouch either. There are sparks, misunderstandings, and when they succumb to their passions, it’s made all the better because Ms. Maxwell’s talent does those scenes justice. I swear, they took turns seducing the other even while trying to resist one another. I can’t help but smile because they think they can ignore true love.

Then of course there’s the conflict. Wow, powerful stuff. I felt so bad for Gavin because as shocks go, it’s a doozy. Gavin’s dealing with it proved without a shadow of a doubt that he meets the criteria of ‘hero’.

Another really good part was Gavin’s relatives. I don’t want to give anything away, but they play an important part in the story. Dame Imogene and his mom are the greatest. I love a happy ending.

A Date at the Alter is historical romance at its best. There is so much depth to the characters that their feelings of fear, anger, uncertainty, lust and passion come to life within the pages, making Sarah and Gavin easy characters to care for and fall in love with. The dialogue is key to understanding their points of view and sometimes it’s even fun and clever. This is a novel worth spending time with and I highly recommend it. Then again, this book has that classic Maxwell touch; what’s not to like?

Lila Rose delivered a very touching and profound love story in this book. It was romantic, sweet, sexy and incredibly emotional.

We met Mattie and Julian in the first book, Holding Out, and I just wanted so badly to read their story. Lila Rose has an incredible talent for bring her characters to life and making you want more. They are funny and sweet and sexy and complex. I loved Mattie and Julian from the first moment I met them and couldn’t wait to dive into their story.

These amazing characters drew me in from the first page. Mattie was living a lie because he was so afraid to come out as openly gay. It took Julian and his charming personality to bring him out but it was still an angsty process. Despite his quiet personality I still had no problem in connecting with Mattie. I saw him as a silent alpha because once the story got going I could see that he kind of had a dominant side too. He was as different from Julian as night and day. Julian had a loud personality. He was open about being gay even though it brought him pain from his family and others. Julian beamed warmth and sweetness and charm but he had a sadness that was always there too. These two were a perfect balance for each other and somehow Lila Rose brought it out in every scene.

As always, Lila Rose was at the top of her game when she wrote this book. It is beautifully written and incredibly developed. This emotional sexy story is fast paced and the characters were simply amazing. I recommend this book/series to everyone.

Reaper’s Kiss is my first time reading a Jaxson Kidman book. Now I am hooked like an addict because I absolutely adore his writing style. This exciting story was dark and gritty and sexy. I couldn’t get enough. I loved the main couple, Jace and Ava, who were so flipping hot together. Jace was the alpha bad boy boy biker who always put the club first until sweet innocent Ava came into his life. Ava’s father gets into some serious trouble and sends her into the Outlaw’s arms for protection. I really love these kinds of stories because they never fail to reel me in and captivate until the end. Ava and Jace were characters who both stood out and they had an intense sexual tension that was almost palpable. Good lord those sex scenes were unapologetically raw and smoking hot. The storyline easily captured my attention with a slowly developing suspense and unexpected turns that held my attention all the way through.

Overall, I absolutely loved this book and really hope that Jaxson Kidman will revisit the gritty world of the Bitter Aces sooner rather than later. When I get this far hooked on a series then I’m always anxiously waiting for the next one so I can fall in love all over again.

From the high desert of New Mexico comes a tale of mystery, murder and redemption. When journalist Kevin Pitcairn receives a disturbing letter from a serial killer, he is drawn into a compelling journey with profound psychological and spiritual implications, not just for the murderer, but for himself and society as a whole. As he tries to investigate and then tell the story, he finds himself battling his own inner demons and sordid history. Events conspire to propel an isolated matter to a national stage and audiences that are increasingly hostile. Forced to explore the roots of human psychology and sanity, Pitcairn must navigate moral and philosophical realms. What is the nature of evil? What powers of choice do humans actually possess? How may we be redeemed? And in the end, how do we reconcile with ourselves?

Despite starting off as a regular suspense novel, this book turns out to be so much more. Kevin Pitcairn, a recovering alcoholic journalist, receives a disturbing letter from a convicted serial killer—but unlike you might expect, the killer does not deny he killed. Instead he reveals information that sends Pitcairn reeling with the implications and sends him on a search that has a deeper implication than he could ever imagine.

This book is less a suspense than it is a psychological look at Pitcairn, and in a lesser way, with his friends and family. It’s told from his POV and the reader is on the journey with him. The discoveries we make together are something this reader will be thinking about for a long time.

There is a deep spiritual component to this book which is intriguing without being preachy (Pitcairn is a self-confessed agnostic) and it’s interesting to discover the “grace” that underlies the story. I found it hard to put the book down once I started reading it.

I recommend this book—the story flows well and this reader felt caught up in the search Pitcairn was on as he sought to understand what was happening.

Mairi does make an extremely rash decision in battle that puts her and Bryce in danger, but after all she’s been through, I can understand her emotions getting the best of her at such and intense moment.

Mairi and Bryce fall in love hard and fast. I must say that it takes a talented author to make this sort of thing work, and Ms. Carlisle has certainly pulled it off in this story. Mairi and Bryce have excellent chemistry and the sex scenes are scorching. I could easily picture them as a powerful couple and felt very secure in how their relationship was progressing until after the big battle when Bryce makes a decision that jeopardizes everything. It is easy to sit back and say that Bryce was being stupid, but whenI took a moment to think about Bryce’s past and the short amount of time he and Mairi had known each other, I could understand why he did it, even if I completely disagree with him. Will Bryce and Mairi’s romance survive his decision?

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Knights of Stone: Bryce. This tale is part of a series, but it stands alone very well. Ms. Carlisle explains any pertinent background information succinctly. I was never lost and the flow of the story was never interrupted. The pacing is great, and I was so wrapped up in their story that I read the entire book in one sitting. Is there any chance of a future for them? In the past, expecting anything long-term has only led to heartbreak. But Kasey can’t help hoping that, despite Kasey’s fetish, Brandon will be the exception.

Kasey likes to keep his head down at work. A mechanic, specializing in muscle cars, he’s found once too often to be the butt of his “friends’” jokes. So he likes to stay invisible. Enter Brandon, a new client who himself reluctant to leave his baby in the hands of a stranger without checking the mechanics knowledge. Insisting on speaking personally to Kasey, the two hit it off immediately. Can they come to a mutually satisfying arrangement?

I have to confess, I’m not particularly a car person. I don’t dislike them – but I’m far from a motor-head. Even so, I found myself really enjoying this story. I loved how much Kasey adored his cars, and how they made him so horny. I particularly enjoyed how the author conveyed Kasey and Brandon’s appreciation of the muscle car so well, that I wanted to keep reading, to relish them enjoying the ride. I find when an author can make you appreciate something you’re not necessarily keen on, that’s the mark of excellent writing. I thought this story had that in spades.

This story was an interesting mixture of humour, lighthearted fun and sizzling sex. Personally, I didn’t feel any of it was particularly kinky or outrageous. While I can appreciate that Kasey feels his intense attraction to cars was a little abnormal, it really felt to me like he’d built it up in his head to be way more than it was. Getting off on (and in) older style, classic muscles cars really wasn’t that nutty to my mind. But Kasey thought it was weird, unnatural and unhealthy, which felt a little over the top to me. I feel it helped that his sexual pleasure from the car wasn’t written in a dirty or offensive manner, so I found it fun and light – rather than a deep, dark, embarrassing secret. I was surprised to find myself far more interested in Brandon and his cars, along with Kasey and his fetish, rather than the actual plot of Kasey reconnecting with his brother. I’m not sure if that mini-plot was just a little too loosely written – not pushed forward enough – or whether it was an after-thought not fully fleshed into the story, but that aspect of the plot just didn’t feel solid or given the same importance as the cars and growing relationship between Kasey and Brandon to my mind.

I really appreciated the pace of the romantic relationship between the two men. I feel the author did a great job, introducing us to Kasey (and his predilections) first, then slowly showing Brandon and Kasey coming together. Despite the shorter length of the story I was pleased with the pacing. Slow enough to be believable but sexy and hot enough to earn its erotic title.

I feel this story will really appeal to most readers, particularly those wanting a gentle M/M story or car enthusiasts. I found it fun, sexy and totally enjoyable. Recommended.
