When an aristocratic rake faces either prison or rustication with a ‘rabbity brown-haired’ country miss, he seriously considers taking his chances with the law…

Perhaps the term ‘profligate’ is too kind for Robert, Marquis of Denley. He has gambled away his fortune, publicly dueled, and earned a reputation as a cur. Desperate to staunch the family’s financial hemorrhage, Robert’s uncle forces Robert to rusticate in Yorkshire for the purpose of marrying him to the squire’s daughter. This uninteresting alliance would permanently remove his reckless nephew from Society.

But Mary Fanley, a country miss who thinks the pretensions of the bon ton are absurd, has no idea Sir Robert is being coerced into marrying a ‘veritable nobody’. From their first encounter she infuriates him with her dismissive wit. So begins a war of horrific insults and unvarnished contempt.

Yet just as Mary begins to seem quite palatable, a smooth dandy arrives to settle an old score, forcing the Marquis to pay for his past.

With sparkling wit, tongue-in-cheek humor, and a touch of sarcasm, country girl Mary Fanley and Robert Allensham, Marquis of Denley, play at one-upmanship from the moment they meet.

Robert arrives at the Fanley’s Greenly Manor with his life in shambles. Harsh, dissipated, and careworn he has no patience with “rustic” living. But his uncle, Lord Eversham, now holds all of Robert’s assets in trust and has a plan for saving his nephew from self-destruction. Robert’s fear of becoming mad like his father has fueled his rakish, reckless ways up to now. His debts and crimes have put his life in danger.

Robert’s highborn hauteur rubs Mary Fanley the wrong way. Kamagra medicine is emerging as cialis on line superhero to kill the problems of erectile dysfunction and does allow us to take with any allergic disorder. Some of the reasons for erection problems include depression, anxiety, order viagra australia diabetes, high blood pressure, loss of blood supply to the penile region and causing the impotence. She’s well-educated by standards of the time, but more importantly, she’s intelligent, capable, and blessed with common sense. She manages her absent-minded father’s household with servants who took care of her as a child which creates a unique relationship. Mary is somewhat one of the bunch rather than the lady of the manor. Although she has a dowry, she’s resigned to spinsterhood.

The influence Robert and Mary have on each other makes captivating reading.

Some of the secondary characters have a strong impact on events. The humorless Lord Eversham directs Robert’s life with a heavy hand and with good reason. However, some of the situations Robert finds himself in are humorous. Will, Mary’s brother, unwittingly brings the evil, cunning Oscar Neville to Greenly Manor which is like setting the fox among the chickens. Of course, Mary’s father, who lives in his own world of agriculture and notices little else, offers Robert a lifeline as he helps the young man bring Treehill, one of Robert’s properties, back to being a prosperous estate.

The confusion of names and the need for clarification in a few places pulled my attention away from the story at times, but the unfolding of plot and the interesting characters soon had my full attention again.

The extent Robert exerts himself to extract Will Fanley from a critical situation, the bombshell Lord Eversham drops on Robert, and how Robert takes control of his own life give the story some surprising twists and turns. Best of all, the steadfast love that grows as Robert and Mary move from carping at each other to caring for each other, then to loving each other with a sweet, true, forever love makes The Lost Heir of Devonshire a delightful story.

With a few extra pounds and a geek reputation, Otis Tucker despairs of ever finding someone to share his life with. When the GLBT dating service GetaDate.com matches him with handsome hunk Garret, he thinks it’s some kind of joke. But the more he learns of Garret, the more he realizes that even gorgeous people can be taken at face value and that Mr. Perfects come in many different sizes.

Otis never thought he could catch a man by being himself but hunk Garrett proves him wrong. Otis is a computer specialist by day and a gamer geek by night. He’s trying to find love on an online dating site but Otis thinks he can only catch a man with a fake profile. When a friend eliminates Otis’ made up profile and replaces it with a real one, sexy Garrett is quick to notice. Although Garrett seems too good to be true, Otis soon realizes they just may be made for each other.

A Lie I Can Live With is the third in a series of short stories focused around an online dating site. However you don’t have to read the previous books in the series as each couple is unique to their story. One of the most commonly noted problems buy levitra click here for info with an AC system is due to its filter. It’s a worthwhile read too as cutie Garrett is nearly perfect and even more perfect for Otis. The couple is nice together with some good chemistry. The writing is clean and although the pace is a little tepid, the story moves along very nicely. There are numerous touches that make this story fun: from the video game Otis is crazy about to Garrett’s very welcoming family.

If I had to point out any problems it would be that Garrett is almost too good to be true. Since the story is told from Otis’ perspective, Garrett remains a very two-dimensional character. He seems perfect in almost every way from accepting Otis’ overweight and bearish appearance to his love of all things geeky. It would have been nice if Garrett had been more developed and came across as more realistic but I’m not sure any readers will have a problem with a geeky guy finding the love of his life with a hot, sexy guy.

A Lie I Can Live With is a cute short story that gives a nice fantasy. It’s a little light on actual depth but is an enjoyable read anyway.

Helen needed more from life as a pilot than the Alliance could offer. When a handsome Azon offers her a new position, she can’t say no, to anything.

Helen has enjoyed her tenure as an Alliance pilot, but working with unpredictable crews is wearing on her nerves. When an incident of defense of the innocent via mutiny ends her career, controlling warships is over. Joining the Sector Guard felt right, but if she had known what was ahead of her, she may have held back when the handsome Azon doctor offered her a job.

Hyder has always known the matches that he sees are the perfect mate for the person he is speaking to. He may not know a name, or a location, but he knows what everyone’s perfect match looks like. Seeing himself as the Terran’s perfect match is a surprise, but when he looks her over, he is sure he is up to the challenge. He just has to put Pilot in command.

Pilot in Command is book twenty-five in the Sector Guard series: the final book, in fact. But like so much that Viola Grace does, it is not what I expected.

Helen Taline is an Alliance pilot when she goes against her captain’s orders to abandon defenseless civilians in the middle of a battle. When she’s cleared of mutiny charges, she’s offered a chance at a new beginning, as the first pilot for a new and promising venture, the Sector Guard.

When Hyder Mihal recruits her, she doesn’t realize there’s more behind the offer than just her piloting skills. Getting a new defensive force up and running is challenge enough. Learning you’ll be working alongside your perfect match and making history at each turn is more than a bit daunting. Luckily, Helen is up for the challenge, and accepts the chance of a lifetime.

But can Pilot and Commander overcome the skepticism and doubt of those who want to shut down the Sector Guard before it even starts? It’ll be hard enough to convince Kale-Gant to allow the use of Morganti as the first Sector Guard base. When an emergency arises, will Pilot, Commander and a handful of recruits prove this force is sorely needed?

This is the story of the very beginning of The Sector Guard, how it was brought about, the challenges it faced in the beginning, and how Pilot and Commander first met. I like this glimpse into the past, with the promise of all that was to come.

Helen Taline is strong and determined. She can’t stand to see people in danger if she can help. That trait is what brings her to the attention of the Sector Guard. I loved watching as Helen grew into her role as one of the founding members of Sector Guard, and her slow acceptance of Hyder as a suitor. The sweet and yet passionate romance blossoms between them and brings her joy and surprise.

Hyder Mihal is a strong, desirable and gentle man, a doctor and healer. He has the talent to bring couples together, as a matchmaker. Until he met Helen, he despaired of ever meeting his own match. I enjoyed watching as Helen and Hyder sparred and played and built a strong and unbreakable bond between them. Hyder is loyal and I loved watching as he let the other recruits know Helen was off limits to them all, while still giving her the freedom she needed to do her job, as both pilot and recruiter.

Viola Grace has certainly enchanted with the adventures of the Sector Guard. Each story has a unique pairing of prospective mates and high adventure. There’s danger mixed in with the romance. I love that she has left the best for last, with the history and origins of Sector Guard for a wrap up. I recommend this for all who love adventure and fantasy with their romance.

Alex Kosmitoras’s life has never been easy. The only other student who will talk to him is the school bully, his parents are dead broke and insanely overprotective, and to complicate matters even more, he’s blind. Just when he thinks he’ll never have a shot at a normal life, an enticing new girl comes to their small Midwest town all the way from India. Simmi is smart, nice, and actually wants to be friends with Alex. Plus she smells like an Almond Joy bar. Sophomore year might not be so bad after all.

Unfortunately, Alex is in store for another new arrival–an unexpected and often embarrassing ability to “see” the future. Try as he may, Alex is unable to ignore his visions, especially when they suggest Simmi is in mortal danger. With the help of the mysterious psychic next door and friends who come bearing gifts of their own, Alex embarks on a journey to change his future and save the woman of his dreams.

Alex Kosmitoras has enough problems in his life without the weird visions which appear out of nowhere.

His father interferes too much in his life. When a psychic opens the shop next to his mother’s flower shop, this seems to upset his father even more. Shapri, the psychic’s daughter, and Simmi who are young girls from India, attend the same school as Alex and the three become friends. Simmi helps him to understand his own psychic powers but Shapri doesn’t believe such things exist. Alex’s visions center on Dax, a strange boy his own age, who appears to be intent on killing Simmi. Determined to stop this from happening, Alex vows to save Simmi from this terrible fate, despite the fact he’s blind.

The author of “Farsighted” is not a teenager, but she has reached into the world of young adults and written a book from their point of view. Alex’s blindness is referred to in a matter-of-fact manner which is good. On the other hand I could feel his fear when he admitted he had psychic capabilities and to protect Simmi he must go after Dax.

Alex’s interaction with the two girls worked well. I smiled when this typical teenage boy tried to understand where he’d gone wrong and why were the girls angry with him? The three friends are the main plot of the book. Despite their different backgrounds they work well together.

The story is well written but I found it to be a little flat. There were no real highs or lows to whet the appetite. The promise of excitement and action were there, but unfortunately the promise was not entirely fulfilled. Despite this I enjoyed the book. I found it wonderful to look at the world through the eyes of a teenager who wasn’t a rebel, merely a young man who tried to do what was best for him and his family. It was interesting to see how the Alex dealt with the extra stress his new abilities placed on him.

I believe this is the first of at least two books. I’d be happy to read the sequel because Emlyn Chand clearly has talent.

Five ‘MUST HAVES’ in Paranormal Romance

Thank you for having me on the Long and Short Reviews blog today. Creating paranormal/fantasy romance is not only what I do for my day job, but a job I enjoy. I write several different series. All have fantasy and paranormal elements to them so the following five components are something I strive for in my writing process.

First: Well-developed male and female characters. Personally, I enjoy romance characters who deliver their internal thoughts with their external actions. I want to be inside their head. I also find that the more memorable stories include internal thoughts and dialog that don’t repeat each other but work in unison, ultimately reflecting a more complex individual. I’m talking here about layers, the reasons behind why the characters behave the way they do, why they want what they want, and what unusual circumstance might force them to change their minds or to never do so. For me, this isn’t about alpha characteristics but about what makes the character a unique individual. This is the basis on which to add supernatural powers, talents, and paranormal characteristics.

Second: Just enough details, but not too much. This follows the ‘everything in its own good time’ scenario. Even if the story isn’t a mystery, details should be delivered as needed not as wanted by the reader. Tension and pacing are everything in storytelling. We all have authors who we trust enough to deliver us a great story that we’ll wait until they offer explanations, even if they make us squirm to find out sooner. Sometimes that’s more delicious.

Third: Believable world building. For me, this means we should be able to see, taste, smell, and almost feel what the characters do. Especially if the surroundings or the paranormal aspect is unique (which hopefully it is). That means we see the magic evolve, experience the shape shifting fur or wings, and have a taste for the exotic highs and tedious boredom of an immortal’s life. All contribute to a justifiable suspension of disbelief.

Fourth: Lovemaking for a reason—an expression of loving desire. Lust is entertaining, but sex is different between people who love each other versus people who are just making a fleeting connection. Even if the characters don’t realize it immediately, there should be some discernible change or highlights that a reader will pick up on. Even in paranormal romance, the romance is still the key ingredient. First and foremost the romance needs to be well paced and evolve logically to be believable. All the rest of the story spins because the two main characters have a reason, a well-matched need, to be together.

And finally: A satisfying ending. Duh. But that runs the gamut and, unless we’re writing flash fiction, a little more is sometimes better than a little less. At least in my opinion. This is tying up the loose ends of the romance and the hanging threads for the story. Hanging threads for a series, which are usually obviously classified that way, can be addressed another day—though not forgotten.

You’re probably saying “but those are requirements for any good story.” Yep, they are. So I suppose the only real difference with paranormal/fantasy is a vivid imagination for things outside the realm of reality! 🙂

Hopefully, I succeed with the above list in my stories. If you read Return of the Legacy, feel free to drop me a line at my website and let me know.

Three magical dimensions…Two mystical bloodlines…One undeniable destiny.

Born a magical empath, Logan MacKenzie has spent his life protecting his family from discovery. Evil has found them anyway. What begins as Logan’s search for answers on Earth becomes a race for survival in the magical dimension of Loci. The battle to save those he cares about will reveal his true lineage—the bloodline of the Makir, one half of a pair of sentinels chosen to guard the mystical portals between dimensions. The price of his acceptance: a love he never imagined possible and a heartbreaking choice.

Her family attacked, her home destroyed, and now stranded on Loci, Briallen of Tir Thar, descendant of a magical race, has only to summon the power within her to return to her own dimension—or so she had hoped. Unfortunately, her powers aren’t cooperating, and the sorcerer bent on her family’s destruction will stop at nothing to possess her.

Raised without knowledge of the portals, the Makir guardians, or her own destiny, Bri takes a leap of faith in an alliance with Logan. Embracing an uncertain power and accepting his goals as hers offers her the only way home. If they fail, the consequences of allowing the portals to fall to evil are unthinkable—the destruction of every magical dimension throughout space. Warning: This is a fantasy romance, containing magic, love, and courage. The omission of vampires and shapeshifters is intentional.

All she wants for Christmas is him. All he wants is everything…for her.

Urban Fairytales, Book 3

As Christmas bears down on Eric Athers’s empty wallet, one question plagues him: What to get the love of his life when he has less than nothing?

It doesn’t help that his wife, Nia, who works extra shifts to support him through his medical residency, practically glows with holiday spirit. Her determination to put the “Merry” in Merry Christmas only serves as a painful reminder of everything he’s unable to provide for her.

Nia loves her husband to distraction, and she can’t for the life of her figure out how someone so smart can be so dumb when it comes to something as simple as a little holiday. Christmas is so much more than presents and shopping malls.

All she has to do is show her own personal Scrooge the best gifts come from the heart.

Nia and Eric are living on love and Christmas is right around the corner. Although they are surviving paycheck to paycheck while paying off Eric’s med school loans, their love burns brightly, keeping the fiery passion alive. When it comes time to give each other their gifts, Nia and Eric want this year to matter.

This story is a very sexy retelling of Gift of The Magi. From the first words of the book, the characters demanded my attention with their super hot chemistry. Without the willingness to be vulnerable, we will never build loving, lasting relationships in life. viagra sildenafil Nia and Eric were cute, funny and adorable but the secondary characters nearly stole the show.

Priceless is fun and fast paced with witty dialogue that kept me riveted until the very end. While I enjoyed this book thoroughly, I got caught up in the end of the book where it abruptly ended. Although the blurb mentions Eric being a Scrooge, I didn’t really get that vibe. Instead, he warmed my heart with how much he loved Nia. This gorgeous interracial couple had enough sexual tension to make me want to re-read it again.

Wrap this book up in a bow and give it to your favorite friend for Christmas! I can’t wait to see what is up next for the secondary characters. This book is recommended for readers who love hot, steamy romance to keep them warm on winter’s nights with a dash of holiday flair.

Jin Rayne is still growing into his frightening new powers as a nekhene cat and his place as reah of Logan Church’s tribe when he learns that a sepat, an honor challenge, has been called. Logan, who has never wanted to do anything but lead his small-town tribe, must travel around the world to Mongolia and fight to become the most powerful leader in the werepanther world.

Logan won’t be the only one making the journey. As his mate, Jin must fight with him to honor his commitment to Logan, his culture, and his tribe. But the trial is long, involving a prolonged separation between the two men, and Logan’s humanity is at stake. In order to make it through the nightmarish sepat, Jin and Logan must accept their fates, trust each other, and honor the vows between them no matter the cost.

Jin and Logan are back but their love is about to be tested in ways they never could have imagined. Jin and Logan are a rare true-mated pair of werepanthers. Their bond is extremely unique, as is their love. After going through so much already in the two years they’ve been together, Jin and Logan deserve some peace and quiet. Unfortunately they don’t get that yet as someone has kidnapped Jin’s best friend which leads to a deadly and incredibly vicious ancient ritual among the werepanthers. Logan, Jin, and their people are about to be tested in so many ways with only their bonds of love, friendship, and loyalty to see them through.

Honored Vow is the third book in the Jin/Logan relationship. You technically don’t need to read the previous two books as there is so much background thrown into this one the average reader will be able to pick up the plot without much trouble. I wouldn’t suggest it though as the world building is chaotic and very confusing. There are so many random terms and concepts thrown in at a breakneck speed it’s easy to become confused by the werepanther world. The pain occurs with a headache and subsides when a sildenafil cheap headache stops. In a layman’s language, it is associated with immune factors as they found anti-sperm antibody in some women. viagra without The online store delivers the high quality herbal pills are free sample of cialis touted to increase semen release naturally and enjoy intimate moments with your beautiful female. There’s a lack of cohesive logic to this fantasy world that would likely bother sticklers for detail. However the action happens along the same speed so those readers who enjoy a lot of lightening fast action may be able to overlook any world building issues.

The real highlight of the book is Jin, as always. He’s a bit of a perfect character – the most rare, most powerful, most caring – but in this book he actually learns just how much his inflated ego can harm those around him. It’s nice to see him actually grow and mature from the spoiled brat he is to understanding the ramifications of his actions. One note of caution is that there is a lot of violence in this book. The werepanther world is incredibly brutal and vicious and death/maiming/torture is pretty common. Most of it happens off page and considering they are panthers, most can heal any major damage. No character seems permanently harmed by their torture or maiming. Combined with the high-speed action, all the violence isn’t necessarily something that would turn readers off.

Honored Vow is a very quick and mostly entertaining read. It has some questionable plot points due to the messy world building but the characters are adorable and fun to read. Overall this was a fun read. The characters and situations are over the top but the quiet moments of connection and real bonding are what make up the heart of the story. Anyone who’s read the series so far will want to continue and although this is Jin and Logan’s final book, there are numerous secondary characters who are set up and shine, obviously on the road to their own books.

But overnight, her peaceful high-rise turns bonkers, and a series of grisly murders leaves Millie frightened and more helpless than ever.

Millie must accept her lead role in rescuing Nightingale from its descent into anarchy, or risk all Hell breaking loose.

Millie knows something funny is going on in the building she lives in. They keep finding tenants murdered…

Ms. Ison does an excellent job of creating a fast-paced amusing fantasy tale filled with danger. It stars a clueless young woman who is supposed to be the new gatekeeper. Once I sat down and started reading this story, I didn’t get back up again until I finished it. Ms. Ison grabs your attention on the first page and keeps the story moving along at a good pace until the end.

Millie’s parents have died and she moved through various foster homes until she became emancipated. This apartment house was part of her dreams of having her own place, but she didn’t expect it to be a dangerous place to live. The Trouble with Nightingale is written for young adults, but this adult-reader really enjoyed it as well. No character is overdone. Millie acts like everyone else. The few powers she discovers actually help round out her character and give her the ability to fight back against demons.

Why not join Millie in her quest to save her apartment house (and maybe the world) from demon danger? You’ll find yourself rooting for the familiar, even if he’s not what you’d call a dangerous animal. I know I did.

I liked the introduction of Maxi, a nylander, bonded to Sekhara and willing to do what it takes to love and protect her. Maxi becomes a force to be reckoned with in this, and proves her worth quite well.

Sekhara Noor, or Counsel, is the most talented telepath ever seen. She’s strong, determined and has a cheeky attitude toward the man she will partner with when she joins Sector Guard. She’s smart, sassy, very courageous, and quick-witted in an emergency. Sekhara wants Criton, but on her terms, not his. She knows just how to play him to get her way. I like Sekhara, for her strength and her no nonsense attitude.

Criton Ethyn, or Contract, is the contract specialist for Sector Guard. As the greatest legal mind known, he’s able to form airtight contracts. Criton is handsome and courageous, yet willing to let his woman take the reins when necessary. I love that he has waited years for Sekhara to make her decision, and still has the patience to wait for her. I apprecited his loyalty and devotion to Sekhara.

This is a romance, an adventure, and a thriller all set in one of Ms. Grace’s fantastic worlds. When a new and unseen threat surfaces, it’s up to the team to unite to try and track it down. There are several surprises in this one, and one really big revelation of how things will get worse for the Guard before they get better. I recommend this for those who enjoy their romance set in futuristic and unusual places, with a myriad of special effects and lots of fun thrown in.

Krell is certain Cyan can’t be trusted. He’s determined to keep her at a distance…but Cyan is just as determined to get the big, sexy cyborg into her bed.

Taunting Krell is “Cyborg Seduction” book seven, and Laurann Dohner just continues to get better and better! This is my favorite book so far in this futuristic erotic/sci-fi series.

Earth scientist have created cyborgs, human clones with cybernetic enhancements. These cyborgs are to be Earth’s ultimate soldiers, but soon humans realize they’re hard to control. Humans decide they must destroy all cyborgs, however these new creations escape earth to try and find a new world where they can live in peace away from the danger of destruction. Female cyborgs are in short supply and must enter a breeding contract to insure the future of all cyborgs. Recently, though, some cyborgs have found themselves falling in love with human females thus shaking up the family pact breeding structure.

Our alpha hero in this story is Krell, a cyborg interrogator who was severally abused by humans when he lived on earth and is now left physically and mentally scarred. To maintain a strong and healthy erection, you require a healthy blood online prescription viagra without flow to your penis rendering it hard and erect. With these important things in mind, Suhagra can buy cheap tadalafil work wonder in your life and help you cheat impotence in more ways than one. There is typically a single name that can be given to any herbal item promoted as healing impotence. cheap viagra sales Yet their votes are nullified because of the winner-take-all https://unica-web.com/data-privacy-french.html cheap viagra tablet approach that Mississippi employs. Krell is a brooding bad-ass fighter who is extremely sexy and dangerous. He finds himself assigned to interrogate Cyan, a fierce-fighting human with many secrets of her own. Can these two unlikely candidates find love in a cataclysmic world?

Laurann Dohner is truly a queen of great sci-fi romances. Ms. Dohner has been able to place a different slant on each epilogue that keeps her fans coming back for more. I love how this book gives us more historical background into the cyborg’s pre-existence on earth and how the bulk of the drama takes place in different backgrounds than her previous episodes. Her concepts are truly imaginary. She’s built a fictional world with detailed graphic descriptions that enthralls the mind and attaches our hearts.

Ms Dohner’s books are refreshing and they do not seem to rehash the same plot line of previous works the way so many other authors tend to do. Her descriptive narrative creates a vivid movie that plays in the reader’s mind, making her stories come to life in 3D cinema.

I love how her heroes, though enhanced with strength and superpowers, still face the same struggles and insecurities as humans do. Krell feels himself completely unworthy of female attention due to his physical scars. Because of Cyan’s past life, she sees beyond the surface to the man Krell truly is. Soon you cannot help but fall in love with these two characters as they struggle, fight and love together. This action-packed saga engaged my interest from the beginning and stretched my imagination to the limit. As I previously stated, this series just keeps getting better and better!

Looking for a sci-fi adventure filled with dynamite love scenes and even more explosive drama? Well perhaps I should taunt you with “Taunting Krell”! It might just be the cyborg tale for you!
