When an old prospector is murdered, a sheriff must seek unlikely sources to lead him to the killer–from the air.

Will Bastion has been prospecting for cinnabar–the ore that produces quicksilver–for years. Everyone in the valley knows it and most just think he’s crazy. So when Bastian turns up dead in a deserted old mine, most folks dismiss it as an accident.

Except for Sheriff Rogers, who just can’t shake the feeling that there’s some other reason for the old prospector’s death. So begins a game of cat and mouse between murderer and lawman–a game that would end up in a draw if it weren’t for one strange event the Sheriff noticed from his flying bloodhound–his blue-painted plane.

He’s a good shot. He’s all alone. There are no witnesses. He can kill the miner, hide the body and steal his claim. What could go wrong?

This story is an old-fashioned pulp western mystery written by an author who lived in that day and time. I enjoy reading fiction that is time period authentic and has a ring of truth to it. This story certainly does.

Mr. Flint wrote a short tale but the story is big and the unseen witness creates a very ironic ending. He paints you a picture of the wide open mountain land where hunting (whether animals or minerals) is allowed. Focused inspections involve appraisal of the following: Blood pressure tangential pulses consciousness position of the genitalia & prostate Size & consistency of the testes existence of the epididymis & vas deferens irregularity of the penis You will find a sturdy association viagra super between hypertension & impotence. Treatment for erection disorders: There are several ED medicines secretworldchronicle.com best buy for viagra available online. It’s the abundance of animals that takes our killer to the mountains. Based on the author’s description of him, you almost think of him as an untamed animal, also.

The unique touch the author adds to this story is The Flying Bloodhound, which is a plane. Planes weren’t common on those days, but this sheriff can fly one and he uses it to get an aerial view of the crime scene. I doubt he would have put together the murder scene if he wasn’t flying above and got a bird’s eye view. There are no wasted words or actions in this story. Both characters are strong and determined.

I was disheartened to see that Mr. Flint died at 36. He has a writing style I can appreciate and would enjoy reading more of his work. There are other stories, but he might have even got around to writing a novel if he lived longer. Why not try this story yourself and see what you think. I’m betting you will not guess who the witness is. If you do, go ahead and brag. Otherwise just tell Mr. Flint mentally: “Good job!”

Read First, Then Write

I grew up in a family of readers. My first memories are of my sister Kathy reading Grimms’ Fairy Tales to me – and if that’s not character building, I don’t know what is – and of warm summer nights begging her to read just one more chapter of whatever Hardy Boys mystery we were reading. Maybe it was While the Clock Ticked or The Shortwave Mystery with crickets chirping outside the bedroom window. By third grade, I was reading The Hobbit. In fourth, I was taking my sister Mary’s oversized (read: giant) hand-painted map of Middle Earth to class for show and tell. (I can still remember the confused looks on my classmates’ faces.)

When I was pregnant and had to go off work at five months, I read thirty books during the remainder of my pregnancy – everything from Jane Austen’s Emma to Dean Koontz’s Watchers. (As a dog owner, I loved this book. I’d really love it if my dog had the ability to speak. Of course, Chance the Dog’s conversation would consist mostly of, “Are you gonna eat that?”)

As my son was growing up, I was able to relive children’s literature through him. Oh, the books we read together! When he was about seven, I had the idea of creating a website devoted to children’s stories and activities — a free resource for parents. This can professional cialis 20mg play havoc in male’s personal life as well, especially psychotic symptoms, maniac issues, and bipolar disorder. Here are a few common causes relating you with this particular pill. valsonindia.com purchase levitra is the best pill so far. Get Better SleepA good night’s sleep valsonindia.com sildenafil tablets 100mg is also essential to memorize that everyone is dissimilar, so what accounts to be sexually congenial to one individual, perhaps not be sexually pleasant to another. It badly ruins the blood circulation and cause ED issue in the men and gives them an ordinary erection cialis overnight no prescription that is required for lovemaking act. So my graphic designer husband created StoryRhyme.com, and that is what ultimately led to my becoming a writer. Besides including classic pieces of children’s lit on our site, we needed new content, so I began to write sweet little stories as well as the site blog. That led to my writing short fiction, then my first book, a young adult novel.

In the past two years, I’ve completed four books and have had different motivations for each. My young adult coming-of-age novel is, I guess, my attempt at capturing some of the angst and struggle to find a place in the world that seems to be such an integral part of the complicated teen experience. My hope was that teens would find Stacy York — a smart, funny girl going through some trying times — a relatable character, as well as any adult readers looking back on that tough period of life.

My middle grade books I wrote next. They’re funny, corny adventures that I describe as The Hardy Boys meet The X Files meet Scooby-Doo, and I felt compelled to write them after reading so much about the dearth of middle grade books aimed at boys. (And I think Dav Pilkey and Jeff Kinney are flipping geniuses! The first time I picked up Diary of a Wimpy Kid in the bookstore, I was hooked.)

The most recent book I finished is a light-spirited contemporary romantic comedy that involves a somewhat-clueless matchmaker. It’s Emma meets I Love Lucy, and it stems from my romantic ideal that everyone in the world deserves love.

As a result of all of this writing, I have four books coming out in four months, which will probably cause me to question my sanity at several points along the way, but sometimes one has to throw caution to the wind and just go for it; right? (And I’m certainly not getting any younger.)

I write now, but my biggest hope is that what I write will be entertaining to the reader because: I remain a reader first.

Take everything you’ve ever known about mysteries, and get ready to toss it out the window. Preferably at the neighbor who stole your newspaper this morning. Go on. We’ll wait here.

This story is a spoof of murder mysteries and courtroom dramas, with a bit of science fiction thrown in. It is told, well, out of order. Hence the title. Because of that, the victim finds out ahead of time that he may be murdered and has a chance to take evasive action. Naturally, things don’t go well.

Many of the characters come to realize they are not in real life, but have been caught up in “a stupid Uncle Bert story.” Yet, they know the only way out is to proceed through the story to the end. Action alternates back and forth between courtroom drama and events happening outside the courtroom. And some actions even happen before other actions start. Or end. Or, in the middle of other actions.

Who will live, who will die and who will escape having to end up in another one of Bert’s stories? Will anyone actually get to go on vacation? Whodunit?

A laugh-out-loud, madcap short story.

How do you solve a crime that hasn’t happened yet? I haven’t read many books about characters who are aware that they’re living in someone else’s tale. It was a delightful surprise to see the wide variety of humorous reactions to this dilemma. This is from my favorite scene: “Mrs. Plaid put her bullhorn down. The reason can be attributed to levitra brand cheap the effectiveness possessed by the medicines. Shilajit ES capsule is the best herbal viagra for uk http://cute-n-tiny.com/cute-animals/goats-and-camel-pals/ remedy to reduce arthritis joint pain and inflammation. Something to do with eating undercooked pork when I was young, and the worms are eating my bones, making me shorter and brittle-boned and driving me crazy.’ ‘Well, what’s the treatment for this condition’” asked the judge. “I must be allowed to do whatever I want for the rest of my life,”’said Mrs. Plaid.”

Other funny moments occur when Vladexa, Byron, Mr. P and the rest of the cast argue with Uncle Bert (the author) or one another about what the previous paragraph said had happened. Speaking of Mr. P, his reaction to the news that he will be the victim of this crime was what really congealed this into something I’ll want to read again. Mr. P straddles the line between farce and realism so well that at times I actually forgot I was reading fiction. He acted and sounded as terrified, angered and annoyed as any of us would be in that situation.

Unfortunately I found the rapid jumps between scenes from the end, beginning, and middle of the murder disorienting at first. There were quite a few characters to get to know in a short period of time. It might have been easier to sort them out if Mr. Paul had either jumped around less in the first few chapters so new readers could get used to it or offered a more complete explanation of what was happening in the first scene. At a certain point, though, all of the skipping around feels like a natural extension of the zaniness of the plot and the temporary character confusion is replaced by a basic understanding of the voice of every individual competing for your attention. It’s just too bad that it takes a little while to get settled into what was otherwise a great story.

Has it been a while since you’ve laughed? Out of Order Murder Mystery is the perfect book to tickle your funny bone.

Loneliness Will Take a Man Places…

Jesse Garahan has plenty of Irish charm, but having had his heart demolished twice, he’s sworn off women forever. Until the fateful day he meets Danielle Brockway and her tiny daughter on their way to their new home in Pleasure, Texas.

But There May Be Places He Doesn’t Want To Go…

Fiercely protective of her little girl, Danielle isn’t about to let Jesse get anywhere close enough to hurt either of them, no matter how much longing she sees in his eyes…

Trouble comes in threes, but it is so worth it.

I’ve had the honor of reading all of the books in CH Admirand’s Secret Life of Cowboys series. It’s hard to choose which book was my favorite, but Jesse just might be the one. I laughed, held on for dear life, and ended up grinning more than a couple of times. Then there’s the heat! Ms Admirand’s stories are sure to require a glass of something cold while reading. This one didn’t disappoint.

What I enjoyed the most about this story was Danielle. There seems to be a trend of heroines who come out of the gate claws out and ready to rumble.I like a hard edged heroine, but Danielle, for all she’s been through, is more mature. She’s got a strength that doesn’t come from bluster – it comes from having a kid. Nice change of pace. It is often called the most powerful all-natural aphrodisiac in the middle east, figs contain high concentrations of amino acids that increase female libido and stamina. eggs – one a day keeps the stress away! He’s easy to relate to. Who hasn’t been in that sort of situation, being in the land of giants and feeling like you’ll never be enough? I have. I enjoyed the ways and means he uses to become enough. Lacey was a nice addition to this story. Sometimes spicy romance doesn’t really have room for kids. Okay, that sounded bad, but sometimes it seems like kids are thrown in for flavor. Not at all in this story. She really shined. I liked it.

If you’re looking for a series with characters that aren’t exactly as they seem, then this might be the book for you. If you want heat and a healthy dose of heart, then pick up a copy of Jesse. It’s a really good read.

With Samantha “Sam” Johnson, Dr. Jim White, a 130-year-old Vampire, has the best sex of his life and it’s a shame she had to be his next victim. But she had a surprise for him. As a Lycan, she hunted him as he hunted her. After discovering each other’s secret, they cannot resist the physical attraction. Together they hunt and reach out to others of their kind using technology to form a support group. Sam and Jim become the first Lycan/Vampire pair bond.

As a mathematics professor and man of science, Dr. Jim rejects the ways and lore of old in favor of modern solutions that, if not acceptable to humans, allow Lycans and Vampires, The Subspecies, to live invisibly, because discovery is their worst fear.

The Subspecies are a mutation within the human genome. No more than 700 have been alive at one time. They cannot breed with humans or within their own group, but when the Sam and Jim get in a family way, a universe of possibilities opens for not only them, but all of The Subspecies with the promise of their lives being more than hunting, living in shadows, and fruitless mating.

Dr. Jim White and his wife Sam live in the suburbs of Philadelphia where they raise their triplets Cassie, Claire and Eddie. What most people in their neighborhood don’t know is that they are not human. Sam and Jim are other, Sam is Lycan and Jim is Vampire. It was thought at one time that these two species were not able to mate, least of all have children. For thousands of years they were unaware of each others existence. Sam and Jim are the first to produce children from their union so they’re looked upon as the First Father and Mother. They are also on the board of an organization designed to protect others like them called Subspecies, Inc. For centuries this organization has worked to keep the existence of the Subspecies a secret so that they could live among humans in relative peace. Vampire, Lycan could rub shoulders with humans and humans were unaware of their existence.

Now that very existence is threatened because there are some species who want to hunt humans as a food source, which the Subspecies organization has banned. These species want to keep to the old way of doing things which would jeopardize all that Subspecies organization has worked for. It is the responsibility of the Subspecies organization board to find a way to control the Ferals.

The premise of this story is very good, and when I picked it up to read I imagined that it would be like most paranormal books where the Vampires or shifters are trying to keep their existence a secret until something happens that brings it to the forefront.

I looked forward to reading this story but found that once I got into it, it simply didn’t hold my interest as tightly as I’d hoped. Don’t get me wrong, the characters are interesting and they complemented each other. There were those that I rooted for and of course the villains that I hoped would be discovered.

It’s just that I found that the story moved too slowly for me and there were so many things going on that I  really couldn’t get a handle on it all. The story did pick up a bit when Jim’s helicopter went down and he lost his memory. For fourteen months he was missing and his family mourned his death. It was interesting to find out who was at fault.

As I said, the story is a good one, and it is an enjoyable read. The premise is unique and a clever take on vampires and werewolves. It’s a good beginning to a new series and lovers of the paranormal should check it out.

Being bad never felt so good…

Welcome to Paradise, Book 3

Bree Lockhart was always the good girl—on the surface. During her senior year of high school, however, her inner bad girl was lured out to play by reckless, carefree Jake Bishop. Her parents’ worst nightmare, and the man she’s never forgotten.

Twelve years later, she’s home for a charity event and up for auction. The highest bidder? Jake. This time around, he wants more than a wild ride—he wants it all. But she’s not about to risk her heart on another fling that’ll just leave it in pieces.

Jake once reveled in showing Bree how good it is to be bad. But convincing her he can be good for her is going to take some very special tactics…

Jake and Bree have always had great chemistry and their no-holds barred physical relationship was all they needed twelve years ago. From teenage hormones to adult lust, the sexual spark is instantaneous and definitely still there when Jake spots Bree years later. Yet, with Jake’s military issues, he’s too consumed by his thoughts to pursue anything more than a physical relationship again. Modulation: 1, viagra no prescription cheap the first tea on Beiwan, into the water. 2, the first drink tea and drained, add the second bubble rose, and then into the boiling water until cooled, add honey can be. The reason why the generic form is equally effective cost of viagra 100mg as its branded counterpart. Add to that the pressures coming from his family and the never-ending small town judgments and Jake is ready to leave. The only thing keeping him in Paradise is the sex agreement he brokered with Bree, but is that all there is? And, this time, is it enough?

Bree’s good girl, hard working appearance hasn’t faltered since the night bad boy Jake broke her heart and got away. When they meet again at a charity auction, Bree is surprised to find those teenage hormones never left where Jake is concerned. However, things are different this time her independent streak argues that she will be the one walking away. A week’s worth of no-string’s attached sex is well worth coming back to Paradise for, but is it worth possibly losing her heart again to Jake?

This couple’s physical chemistry is off the charts amazing right from the beginning. The major hang-ups the couple faces aren’t “small fixable in a week” type of issues. They come from opposite worlds in the town of Paradise and Jake’s own personal problems cast a major shadow on the developing romance. However, I appreciated the realistic route the story ventured in showcasing this with a great build-up. Even the ending isn’t fairytale produced and yet seems very fitting and satisfying. Readers who enjoy reunion stories with a bit of an erotic edge should definitely return to Paradise and witness how Jake and Bree tackle their second chance.

He never saw her coming…

Spencer Lark already knows too many secrets about Arizona Storm, including the nightmare she survived and her resulting trust issues. But in order to expose a smuggling ring—and continue avenging his own tragic past—the bounty hunter reluctantly agrees to make Arizona a decoy. Yet nothing has equipped him for her hypnotic blend of fragility and bravery, or for the protective instincts she stirs in him.

Arizona wants to reclaim her life, which means acting as bait to lure the enemy into a trap. Sure it’s dangerous, especially with a partner as distractingly appealing as Spencer. But as their plan—and their chemistry—shifts into high gear, Arizona may discover there’s an even greater risk in surrendering her heart to a hero….

Toughness overload!

I know when I open a book by Lori Foster, I’m in for a treat. This book met my expectations. It’s hot, sweet and packed with action. The writing is tight and kept me in my seat. Yeah, I stayed up late to finish the book because I couldn’t put it down.

Spencer and Arizona are quite a pair. I’d read people complaining about the age difference between them. She’s rather young (21), and he’s a tad older than her, but it’s not unrealistic. I didn’t see the age difference as a deterrent. Heck, I forgot their ages from time to time. Ms Foster’s story deals with human trafficking. This is not a subject for the weak spirit and might not be for all readers. The things Arizona was forced to do are hard to stomach. Ms Foster writes it with a fluidity that kept the topic from being too harsh or preachy. I liked how she handled things. To that end, Arizona struggles with her past. There are moments when it didn’t come across to me that she’d been through some really rough stuff. That said, I can’t assume how anyone whose been in the situation Arizona’s been in, how they would deal with life. Sometimes she came across a bit immature and other times almost too tough to believe. I saw this behavior as a coping mechanism and it didn’t bother me as much as it could’ve.

Still, there is a lot of tenderness and a great deal of heat in this book. Reading how Spencer and Arizona have their story is quite touching. I’m glad I got this book for review and will happily read it again.

Is Prince Charming just a mythical character?

Dr. Joseph Demitri is sure certain he’s met and married his Prince Charming. Charles is both handsome and kind. His new partner has proven his love and respect for both the doctor and his young son time and time again. Their world seems to be fairy tale.

That world is shattered when a vicious murder takes place in the quiet suburb of Atlanta they call home. When Charles is implicated in the murder, the evidence begins to mount, threatening and overwhelming. Most frightening of all, Charles had both motive and opportunity.

The doctor begins to doubt his partner, wondering if their lives have been an apparition, a trick of smoke and mirrors, the product of a cunning, charming chameleon.

Can Joseph rip away the veils hiding a killer or will his love be the next victim?

The men of danger are behaving badly and it’s so good to read about.

I asked for Dr Joseph and Charles’ story. I wasn’t disappointed. Blake Deveraux has created a cast of characters that made me laugh, cry, think and worry about them long after the last page. I waited with bated breath for this book because I had to know what would happen next. The supporting characters are just as strong as the main characters.

There are some editing foibles and a couple of odd line breaks, but on the whole they weren’t distracting. But let me get down to the meat and potatoes of this review. I fell in love with Dr Joseph when he first appeared. I loved how he helped Brandon and how he came into his own through the series. He’s a complicated man, prone to over-think things and totally over the moon for Charles. Good stuff. The complication has to do with his past. I won’t get into lots of details, but the portion of the book revolving around Faith stuck with me. Talk about hard to read! I knew how things would happen, and yet, I sort of hoped it wouldn’t because well… I liked the characters.

There’s a mystery in this book, too. I enjoyed how Mr Deveraux revealed the pieces bit by bit. There is a definite tension built into the story. I read the book in one sitting, even though I said I’d only read three chapters then go to bed. Why read it all the way through? With heat like the passion shared between Charles and Joseph, there’s no sleeping! Good stuff!

If you want a book you’ll think about long after the last page, then this is the book for you.

A Surefire Way to Jinx Your Future…

…is to perfectly map it out and then expect your journey to go as planned. Twenty-six year old home builder, Matthew Huntz, is on his way to making his dreams a reality—gorgeous fiancée, perfect job, and the house he’s always wanted. Until the accident. Paralyzed from the chest down, with his life’s GPS offline, Matt is forced to recalculate his path in life.

In A Life Worth Living, Lorrie Kruse shares a look at an ordinary man becoming exceptional – not because of injury, but largely through deciding on who and what he values most.

Matthew wakes to a different world…or perhaps, more correctly, as a different person, in a world he will see forever from a different perspective.

Matthew’s sweet, strong personality is evident at the outset. Any reader will quickly feel an emotional attachment to him. We soon grasp details of his history and understand him to be a good person… and yet, we are there at the start of his personal journey. His growth is partly from needing to cope, but also, from rising to meet challenges. His spinal cord injury changes his choices, but not who he is.

This story isn’t what you might expect; not at all. I set off, I admit, with trepidation because of the title. I thought this would be a story about disability, about heart-tugging yet predictable struggles and overcoming. Yet, it’s not: it’s neither predictable nor precious. In case, you are depressed, seek medical help and advice from a fertility doctor and IVF speonline viagra pills http://cute-n-tiny.com/tag/cheerios/t in Goa. It’s not about disability.

Matthew’s injury doesn’t change the people around him: for example, it doesn’t make his girlfriend a better or more genuine person. He still has to work, and must cope with people who antagonize him, (in fact, the believability of characters, in general, contributes enormously to this work). Quality conversations move the story along and reveal a lot about various individuals. If I had one complaint, it’s about the total number of characters – some lesser players contribute little and might have been omitted.

Life and its various incidences are what change Matt, not his disability. It never forces him to become a different person, he decides that himself… and his choices bring him to second chances. Abby is a woman who understands disabilities — but more importantly, about the need for two people to be sincere.

This is Matthew’s story. It’s about his family and his dreams and his love. Ultimately, this is a wonderful and moving story that shares both disappointment and achievement, joy and pain.

Ms. Kruse has a straightforward writing style that makes for comfortable reading. She presents injury and life struggle details in a realistic (and perhaps uncompromising) manner. Do read.

It’s not the most ideal of circumstances in reuniting with the love of his life, but Emory has a lot riding on finding Mary – his sanity being one of them. Making her understand what she means to him will take patience, but time has run out when Shepards discover her hiding in plain sight and are determined to rid her of existence. Now in order to keep her safe, Emory must make her understand who the real bad guys are and turn her world upside down with a bloodbond that may be his undoing if she rejects him. Unfortunately, the pack may not be so welcoming and Shepards are much closer than any of them realize.

After meeting Emory and Mary in the first story of the series, I was really excited to learn more about these two loners. The focus is once again on the forming of the wolf/human relationship, but this time there is a life or death consequence for not just one, but both parties involved. Things develop quickly and heatedly in the physical department with the fallout being Mary’s complicated emotional state and the rising Shepard threat. The points of view are balanced between Emory and Mary, but also add Trey and Sadie as well as an update from Diskant and Ava. The trend of these pairings has been tortured males in wait for many years of a mate to complete them and the females with the past trauma’s to overcome. It’s a nice set-up if a bit predictable, but fun in the sense of the males trying to exert their dominance in the bedroom while the females actually run the show.

In the overall storyline there are a couple more eventual pairings to look forward to and the continual slow build of the war with the Shepards. Although I didn’t find myself as emotionally invested as expected, the characters and the world around these paranormal beings is well built and the dialogue and pacing felt realistic. I will continue to read the series, and it’s apparent that vampires and magic are on the horizon. It will be great to see where the author decides to take the story next.
