This novella is the third book in the Men in Space trio and is the most complex. The story is very plot-based with an emphasis on the two cops – Ben and Adam – as they track down a known criminal. The world-building here is the most intricate of the three stories with different species and new details that add a fresh and interesting take on a science fiction, space theme. The world-building is fascinating, yet woefully incomplete as numerous details and background information are omitted. It’s as if the author knows the world very well but forgot to fully translate that to the reader. The few glimpses offered are more than enough to keep interest; I just wish the complex world had been fully developed. Additionally the characters are not quite three-dimensional. Part of this is due to the quick start of the book. The plot begins assuming established facts yet doesn’t offer those, such as Ben is repeatedly said to be acting oddly but that is the only way we see Ben acting so if it’s odd, the reader has no other reference. Furthermore the BDSM scenes, which are not incredibly hard-core, seem to add very little to the story and characters. The role reversal is uncomfortable and awkward, just as the relationship between the men feels forced more than natural.

Despite these problems, Crimson is easily my favorite of the three Men in Space books. The unique and different world combined with the action-based plot keeps the entertainment factor high and doesn’t offer recycled plots for the sake of man on man sex. The BDSM portion of the book shouldn’t bother most readers though it is included later in the story. If you’re looking for something different set in space, check this out.

Although not particularly memorable, there is also nothing to really offend readers. So those who are looking for a fast read with some very hot sex in a space setting, this will likely fill that desire.

Wade and Wyatt Chance were characters that I was able to picture clearly, but the ease with which Maggie and the brothers entered their relationship and understood each other was rather quick. Their secret, while I understood the reason, seemed more a means to introduce Maggie to the two brothers, but even the way this was done, was so fast and successful that I had trouble believing it – the gay husband giving Maggie all of her sexual understanding was also a bit contrived and her sexual encounters though hot and steamy were also relaxed and contained none of the angst or anxiety that I felt a woman of the day – the character of Maggie would have experienced, particularly given her very limited sexual experience with one man, let alone two. While these inconsistencies were a bit unbelievable, I did still enjoy the story and imagery.

This is part of a series, but it can easily be read as a stand-alone book. Ms. Saint James has written a good story of a young and inexperienced woman finding love and excitement in the old west and, regardless of my few reservations, it certainly piqued my interest in the rest of the series!

Writing a review for the unique and one of a kind, Faewolf, wasn’t easy. There were dark themes that ran deep, and the material wasn’t always easy to read. However, authors D.M. Atkins and Chris Taylor have managed to create something that, even as you long to turn away, you’ll find yourself unable to.

Kiya is an openly gay, and somewhat arrogantly proud, young-man. When you are first introduced to his character, you get a pretty decent look at him on the whole. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, and I should warn that if that sort of thing is a turn-off for you, it is something to reflect upon when choosing whether or not the story would be something you might enjoy.

With that said, by tackling the taboo(s) in erotica, and allowing Brian’s/Saio’s nature to be revealed on page versus behind closed doors, the authors also ensure the material is original and uncensored. Faewolf is raw, unabashed, and captures the emotion and depth of the characters portrayed, which means you witness everything. This is not your typical shifter romance, but it is a story that will remain with you after you’ve finished.

Although not suitable for everyone, I would recommend Faewolf to those who like dark, original works. If you like to find material that pushes the envelope, you won’t be disappointed by this story.

The relationship and strong feelings with Wyatt seem to happen a little quickly, but I can’t blame the girl for taking advantage when the opportunity presented itself.

Over all this story was a very enjoyable read. The suspense ending was a surprise, and the romance was hot. I discovered that although it is not numbered and stands well alone, this story is part of a short series by this author. I certainly would like to read the previous books and would recommend this one to others as well.

I enjoyed Natalie’s character and her fiery personality, as well as her men, Kingston and Jagger. She was very strong, and rolled with the punches. Something we all have to admire. Each man had a very different personality which was just what Natalie needed. I’d also like to mention Luca, Natalie’s brother as he has a part in what happens, personally I didn’t like him. He seemed like a pompous jerk to me. The attitude he gave concerning his sister’s plight left me feeling a little angry.

The plot was direct and had all the right concepts to keep it moving and you reading. The added bonus near the end made my day. This story has an open ending leaving room for a sequel, which I’d like to see. Aside from the above mentioned issues, this was an interesting story that kept my interest until the last page.
