Reading a Regency romance about a three-way relationship requires definite suspension of disbelief. Doubly so that there was a whole group of them who knew each other. But it’s no different than believing there were scads of handsome, unmarried dukes running around working as spies for the Home Office. Ms. Kane does a great job of presenting the relationship and how it develops in a credible way that somehow works very well.

The conflict is mostly centered around Gideon’s coming to grips with his experiences and injuries in the war, and the insecurity and hesitance between the two men to fully accept their erotic feelings. The conflict is believable and tightly interwoven with the developing sexual and romantic relationship. Charles and Sarah are both so very open hearted and unselfish in their coming together to reach out to Gideon.

The sex scenes are hot and filled with emotional depth from the beginning, even though the two men do not know the heroine well. Ms. Kane handles the wedding night perfectly. On that night, it’s easy to believe Sarah is a woman of her times; shy, unknowing, yet her natural sensuality makes her curious and willing to experiment.

Later it’s a little harder to mesh Sarah’s blasé acceptance of the heroes’ homosexual relationship with her being a Regency bride. I would have expected a young woman of that time to have been a little more surprised by men behaving in erotic ways with each other—especially if they were able to perform and enjoy sex with a woman. But this is a small point in an otherwise delightful book.

I liked the overall tone and storytelling voice of Hounding the Beat. There’s humor woven in during the dialogue exchanges between the characters which increased my enjoyment of this tale. The story is told in each character’s point of view so a reader can understand the doubts, worries and hopes that drives each one. The heroine, Chantelle, is a bit of a know-it-all but I liked how the author had Bobby notice and comment on that. By addressing it within the story, I could accept that omniscient aspect, mostly because at times it drove Bobby, one of the heroes, bonkers and he said so – not to her face though.

Another thing I got a kick out of was the scene with the hats. This story takes place in Britain so there are a few references indicating the differences between what I’m used to in America and what the characters experience while being on a British police force. The author explained through her characters in a very clever way and I was fascinated and entertained. In fact, just remembering the part with the hats is making me smile. After the sheets got a work out I was so happy for Sam because at that point I recognized when he realized that what Bobby and Chantelle were offering was real and special. Protect and Serve: Hounding the Beat is a delightful saucy romp on the paranormal side packed with heart and heat in a short story sure to entertain. I enjoyed getting to know the three characters and liked how the author explored them enough so readers can connect and relate to their emotions. Many times throughout I found myself smiling and a few scenes had me fanning myself. Ms. Bidwell wrote a very engaging story and I’m thrilled I got to read it.

The Gideon brothers (and cousin Chris) are trying to make the most of their business but are at risk of letting the “bad guy” scam all of their money. While most of the story is based in the modern world, there is some parallel traveling involved that adds a certain element to the story. Moreover, the paranormal element is explosive! You have dragons, vampires, werewolves, mythical creatures, snake shifters … the list just keeps going. These unique characters and relationships between them really made this story a standout.

Despite this book being part of a series, I felt right at home even though I have not read the previous stories. After meeting the characters, I would love to go back and read the previous stories, but it was not necessary in order to enjoy this story.

Because of the great characters, exciting plot and the fact that it can be read alone I recommend Dragon’s Bloodmoon and will continue to follow the Deadly Mates series.

It was hard watching and waiting for Jake to make up his mind and decide what he wanted out of life. There is so much emotion between the pages of this book that I found it hard to put down. This is one of the best M/M stories I have read and one I will be reading again. The story of Jake and Roan is so exquisite I walked away from this tale loving them both.

Sin is the first to see through Jessie’s disguise and sets the wheels in motion to ensure that Ace claims Jessie for all three of them. However, there is another man that wants her as well, so the road to happy ever after is a dangerous one. It’s a good thing that the three men are ready and willing to stand up and keep their woman safe. There is mention of rape and murder, which was a common thing in the old west, and it only added to the suspense and mystery of the plot.

Frontier justice was necessary back then where only the strong survived, so there is plenty of action as well as some very hot sex scenes that made me glad I got to review this book. Having read all three of the books in the Bride Train series, I am eager to see if another one will be coming out soon.

If you love tales of the old west and romance, kick off your shoes, sit back, and enjoy this great story. Ms. Butler will keep you entertained from start to finish, and make you laugh as you watch the courting dance between three English men and a wild cat.

Edwina is a very busy lady in this book and readers are in for a plethora of erotic hijinks coupled with feather-light drama and suspense to heat up all that Arctic shivering.

Edwina has to be the mouthiest heroine I’ve ever been introduced to. Ms. Clark certainly has presented readers with a challenging and acerbic character. She confounds, exasperates and intrigues the heroes. That means she’s perfect for the role as their love interest. Certainly a bland, insipid and weak female would not have worked but the author outdid herself with the creation of Edwina Callahan. The courtship of the heroine is like watching a porcupine mating – careful and potentially dangerous. And yes feelings get hurt. But half the fun is watching them get soothed, stroked and explored.

The seven scientists are more than what they seem. There’s a really good reason why they are so effective at their chosen profession and the author explored that just enough for the plot to work. A reader will meet Jake and Kieran first and they play a huge role in some of the heroine’s initial internal angst. Each of the seven brothers is unique in how they talk, how they respond to Edwina’s stubbornness and what their sexual kink is. The guys also do it furry – sort of. I actually liked how the author approached that kind of action and how she handled it. It was fascinating and totally hot. Don’t get the impression that this story is short on heart. It’s not. There’s a lot of emotional juggling going on as all of them sort through what they expect from the relationship. It’s touch and go for all of the brothers, with mistakes being made, egos being bruised, tears being dried and fears being soothed. Without any of those feelings, the sexcapades wouldn’t have had much meaning or worth. I’m glad to say there was enough to satisfy me.

As for the conflict, it ends up being nefarious and quite a nice touch. I liked how it was presented step by step as the brothers slowly put the pieces together. Even though I figured out how and the why before it was actually revealed, the dramatic confrontation was pure entertainment. I just sat back and enjoyed it.

Edwina and the Seven Snowed-in Scientists is the book to read for adventurous erotic paranormal readers who enjoy a different type of furred beasty. It’s entertaining, fun, certainly inventive and at times very cute. I liked how Ms. Clark wrapped up the happily ever after because it left me with a warm glow. Some readers might think it’s a tad too pat but for me, it was just right. I felt happy and content with the ending and that’s good enough for me.

As I read this book, I fell for Owen, Tom, and Suzanne, and formed a bond with them. I had a hard time setting the book down and stayed up all night reading. This is one book that I would recommend to anyone who has a thing for werewolves and loves an alpha man in control who has a heart of gold. I am hoping that there will be another book in the series and will keep my eyes open for any book published by Ms. Campbell.
