Love ain’t for the faint of heart, and it ain’t for Layla Smith, either.

Who’s got time for romance when there’s Layla’s Gourmet Pizza Shop, a charming restaurant that won’t run itself?

And then there’s the growing pressure from the newly developed New Ivyhurst community members, determined to make her declare loyalty and allegiance to the new town over the old.

Dysfunctional hearing instruments cialis tadalafil can happen for a multitude of reasons, but one of the biggest causes of hearing instrument break down is obstruction. And … she might just want to sample a taste of Raymond; handsome businessman and Wednesday night customer, Mr. Double Cheese, himself. Raymond; tastier than all the toppings of her very best pizzas put together.

With loyal workers Darryl and Lucas pressuring her to live her best life, and Layla just trying to live one day to the next, all she knows for sure is that love might just be the most dangerous thing of all.

So it’s a darn shame it’s creeping up on her all the same.

Layla owns her own pizza store and makes the best pizza in Ohio. Working seven days a week from first thing in the morning until often midnight means she has no time – or interest – in romance and a love life. Raymond was one of her regulars, and when they talk more than superficially after his dog died, Layla finds herself flummoxed when Raymond starts paying her particular attention. Can Raymond and Layla navigate their busy lives into something resembling a compromise together?

I found this to be an interesting, almost “confessions of” style of story. Told in the first person I enjoyed really getting to know Layla and understand exactly where she was coming from. I also was surprised but really intrigued when I found that Layla did a few things that weren’t very heroine-ish but were completely relatable and realistic. Things like snapping at her customers and mis-reading the signals Raymond gave her. Raymond and Layla’s relationship didn’t get off to a smooth, customary romance-book-style beginning and while this didn’t endear Layla to me, it really did capture my attention. Partly because it made this a story unlike the usual ones I read, but also because I found it completely relatable. Friendships and relationships don’t always start off being picture-perfect and smooth and we do say silly things and make mistakes sometimes. While it’s not often described in romance stories it did resonate with me and make the whole tale feel more like real-life.

I was pleased when Darryl and Lucas – Layla’s two friends and co-workers – didn’t hold back with a few hard truths after Layla shot Raymond down in flames. I feel it could have been easy for the author to have written that scene a different way. I really felt that having Darryl and Lucas both stand up to Layla and not sugar-coat their view of her poor behavior was some excellent and strong writing. Personally, I didn’t like Layla’s attitude – though when she explained why she felt the way she did I understood – and it was an unusual feeling for me to not like and sympathise with the heroine to a story. At times this was not a comfortable read, and while I can appreciate it, I strongly feel this book won’t be for all readers. I’d personally put it into one of those “I’m in a certain mood” style of books. I do have to give the author kudos for writing some realistic and unflattering aspects into the main character in Layla.

Readers who enjoy realistic characters – flaws and all – and romances that don’t progress smoothly but have misunderstandings and difficulties should find this sweet short story relatable, logical and very true to life. I feel if you’re looking for a soft, warm and fuzzy style of romance this story won’t suit your tastes, but with multi-dimensional, realistic and interesting characters, a solid plotline and plenty of reality this should be a good read for many people.

A Coastal Carolina Novel The first step is the hardest. After a scandal, New York political reporter Reed Barfield is lying low at the North Carolina coast, writing a story about the seafood industry. But it’s the harbor pilots on the Cape Fear River who capture his interest—men who jump across ten feet of open ocean to grab a rope ladder and guide huge container ships into port. Men like sexy but prickly Justin Vance. After surviving an abusive childhood and a tour in the Navy, Justin isn’t fazed by his dangerous job—it’s certainly easier to face than Reed’s annoying questions. Justin isn’t out at work, and he doesn’t need Reed digging into his personal life or his past. But Reed’s no stranger to using his considerable charm to get what he wants, and as he wears Justin down, they realize they have a lot in common—and that they like spending time together. Moving beyond that, though, will mean Justin confessing his sexuality and learning to trust Reed with his secrets—if Reed even decides to stay. Both men want a future together, but can they find the courage to take the first step?

But his interest is piqued by the habor pilots. These men who jump across open ocean – no safety nets in sight – and grab rope ladders and help guide containers into the port. In particular, prickly Justin captured Reed’s interest like no one ever has. Are these the first steps for both men towards a lasting relationship?

I enjoyed this full length story. I found both Reed and Justin to be interesting characters and they captured my attention from the first chapter. Justin’s character could be described as prickly – but I didn’t find him stand-off-ish at all. I enjoyed that he wasn’t dazzled by Reed’s charm or suave personality. I found Justin to be a down-to-earth, private kind of person and this actually made Justin and Reed’s initial few interactions a lot more interesting than I feel they would have been had the two men been instantly smitten. This also helped add a strong sense of reality to the story for me and I greatly enjoyed that.

I liked how Reed’s back-story – the circumstances that had him out of New York and in a sleepy coastal town in North Carolina – was properly explained quite early on in the story. I also enjoyed the cheekiness of how Reed was meant to be covering an environmental story, but this story about the harbor pilots and the unsung heroes was what really called to him and was the story he felt passionate about. It helped flesh out Reed into more than just a story-hound chasing glory and the next big break and into a more real person, someone who was passionate about their work, but also wanted to tell real stories and shed light onto people who deserve it. I found it easy to get caught up in Reed’s enthusiasm and passion and this helped me get really into the story as a whole.

Readers who like a slow-burning romance should find this story really fits the bill for them. I loved how Reed and Justin had plenty of time to get to know each other and how they (and us!) discovered neither was as simple or quite what the other expected. This slower pace in the men’s romance was lovely and I found it engrossing to read. The sex was hot and emotional between the two men and I felt it really added to the story and wasn’t just thrown in to give the content an explicit rating.

With a strong and interesting plot, a good set of secondary characters and two heroes that I found engaging and deliciously complex this was a great story. I’d happily read more by this author and can recommend this story for most readers.

When my mother drained my father’s bank account and nearly bankrupt his auto shop business, I stepped in to help. Long nights at the shop meant plenty of time for me to spend with Taylor Jensen. Alone.

From the first time I saw Taylor Jensen, I knew I was in trouble. He had the kindest blue eyes and the sexiest little smirk. He worked for my father’s garage as a mechanic. He was a bad boy with a good heart and I’d fantasized about him more than once.

With all the bills piling up and my savings running out, I found myself in a bind with payroll. I had to come up with another arrangement for Taylor’s pay. The lines blurred with passion and our arrangement quickly became more. He made me feel wanted, desired. I didn’t mind getting a little dirty with him, but could I trust him to mend my fragile heart?

After Eve’s mother wiped their accounts and cleared out, Eve is determined to sort out the books to her father’s garage. It’s a mammoth task, but Eve knows she’s up for it. Taylor works with Eve’s dad and brothers at the garage and Eve knows full well that he’s a distraction she can’t afford. With the family business in dire straits, the finances in a mess and her family on the line Eve knows she shouldn’t be fantasizing about the handsome mechanic, but she simply can’t help herself.

I found this to be a fun and sexy quick story. While Eve and Taylor get hot and heavy pretty quickly, they’ve known each other a while and the short length of the story allowed me to accept the fast pace of their romance. Readers looking for more of a slow burn in that part of the storyline might not find as much satisfaction as I did with this, but I enjoyed both the characters and the style of the authors writing and could overlook the speed with which they hit the sheets.

The arrangement Taylor and Eve come to regarding his salary and back-pay that’s owed didn’t really hit the mark for me. I personally didn’t find it titillating or sexy and if it hadn’t been so well explained – and so very clear Taylor wasn’t taking advantage of Eve – I feel in different circumstances I might have even found it not to my tastes and been tempted to stop reading. I don’t think all readers will feel like this, the scene is exceptionally well written and I feel some readers might get a lot more out of it and be happy to overlook what their arrangement effectively boils down to. While I can certainly see how the deal Eve and Taylor strike helped progress their relationship and was a good plot-device, I just never personally really got into it and I felt a bit disappointed by that part of the story.

I was really happy though how the author did an excellent job of not letting the plot of Eve helping the garage out of their financial tangle to become just a footnote. The plot was well thought out and I felt the author did a great job of keeping it consistent and prominent throughout the story. This didn’t come across to me as filler or an afterthought to pitch between the sex scenes – but an important and coherent aspect of the story holding it all together. A lot of smoking hot, sexy stories don’t hit this kind of mark for me so I was really pleased with how well I felt the author did balancing the romance and the plot together.

Eve and Taylor are both wildly attracted to each other, in an unusual circumstance and are both consenting grown adults. While I’m not certain this will be every reader’s cup of tea, I found it well written, well plotted and with some promising secondary characters I feel sure future books will be based upon. A good, quick read.

He just hopes she won’t freak out when she finds out he spends a lot of his time running around on four legs!

But even if she does accept him, will they find each other only to be torn apart by the danger that threatens the wildlife—and Emily?

Emily was in a rush to get home before the snow hit – but not in so much of a hurry she wouldn’t stop for an injured wolf on the side of the road. Unable to lift the large animal into the back of her jeep, she flags down help in the form of two brothers who were passing by. Despite the strange vibes Emily gets from them, she needs their help to rescue the wolf, and the large animal is more and more becoming a priority for her.

I found this to be an interesting and slightly mysterious paranormal romance. I enjoyed the writing style and was pleased with the faint air of thriller/mystery surrounding the story as a whole. I felt the plot of poisoning wolves and the tension between the humans and wolves was quite well drawn and not too clichéd. There were a few minor parts where I felt the writing was a little jarring and could have been smoothed out a little – like how Caleb and Raff – the two brothers who helped Emily load Tate, the wolf she rescued into her jeep – appeared to be menacing and intimidating to her one minute, then suddenly somehow managed to switch on the charm and Emily felt she could trust them. Even after a quick re-read I couldn’t understand the reason behind that sudden shift in Emily’s reading of the two men. I also found it jarring how Emily initially called the wolf “wolfie”. It felt odd to me considering the wolf was extremely large – far too heavy for her to maneuver – and a wild animal as well. The slightly babyish style of pet name “wolfie” kept pulling me out of the flow of the story.

I found the main characters really well drawn and I genuinely enjoyed the plot of the story – I was thrilled that it wasn’t just a token effort but really thoroughly woven in. Readers who enjoy paranormal romance should find this book as satisfying as I did. There’s plenty of chemistry and insta-lust burning between Emily and Tate, and although there’s a number of steamy kisses and heat between them, they don’t consummate their relationship until the very end of the story. I wouldn’t describe this story as erotic or overly explicit – nor the single consummation scene over the top. Readers happy with a strong plot, plenty of chemistry and connection, but satisfied with only the one fairly brief (only a few pages) sex scene should find this as enjoyable as I did.

I found the plot surrounding the poisoning of the wolves to be interesting and complex enough to retain my attention throughout the story. I would have enjoyed it had the conclusion and solving of this part of the mystery to have been a little slower-paced. A short time after finishing my first read I found small parts of this conclusion had escaped my memory and I needed to re-read these sections more slowly to really assimilate what had occurred. Usually this means that the pacing (for me, at least) was too fast While I love a good, fast-paced action sequence I’m not as keen when it’s so fast-paced these important parts blur in my head and I can’t remember them properly.

With a solid plot, a number of interesting and intense characters – and hopefully the potential for further books with other characters down the line – I found this to be a good and page-turning paranormal romance story. A good new-to-me author and someone I will be keeping an eye out for in the future.

Deep attraction swirls between them. At the end of the night when they share a kiss, Aiden can’t believe the bliss that enfolds him, but have both men found someone to love just when fate is about to throw Aiden into mortal danger? And what will Santiago risk to aid his newfound love?

Santiago had been alone a long, long time when he noticed the handsome young man at a local bar. Fearful of rejection, Santiago couldn’t work up the courage to go say hello, terrified that his heart would be crushed. Aiden had been single for six months and was away on holiday. When his friends and travel companions egged him on to have a holiday fling, Aiden is uncertain but throws caution to the wind.

This is a lovely, albeit short, story about a holiday romance. Aiden and his friends had come to run with the bulls, but Aiden quickly discovers there are other ways in life to get your heart pounding. A lot of the paranormal aspects behind Santiago’s power and origins is left in mystery. I found myself with a few strong hypothesis’ but they weren’t answered until the end of the book. I expect much of the description of Santiago healing Aiden – and the magic/power behind that – was kept necessarily brief due to the short amount of space in the story. I’m not sure this will sit well with readers looking for a strongly magical/paranormal style of story. While it certainly kept the pace of the story moving along and left plenty of room for Aiden and Santiago’s relationship to be given a good amount of space and detail, I believe I would have enjoyed the story more for the better fleshing out of these paranormal details and found that it helped my understanding of the paranormal world and Santiago’s perspective on it all.

Aiden and Santiago’s relationship moved at a quick but understandable pace. With Aiden on a short timeframe due to this being his vacation much of the usual inhibitions people experience when meeting a new partner were understandably pushed to the side. Despite this quicker-than-usual romance I was still pleased that Aiden and Santiago didn’t just immediately jump each other’s bones. We got to see them interact, talk and eat together and saw them both fall for each other in a more than casual, fling-like way. I enjoyed this more romantic aspect to the story and found it really helped sell me on the two men working together. This made the chemistry and sex between them feel a lot more realistic and I feel the steaminess to the story will appeal to a lot of M/M erotica readers.

Light and sexy, this is a fun M/M story with a few hints of paranormal in it. I was pleased with the happy ending and found the two main characters to be realistic and interesting. A good, quick read.

Will Isla ever trust him enough to discover if they have what would be the perfect match?

Isla had left a deeply unhappy, almost abusive BDSM relationship and despite the fact she wasn’t fully over it quite yet she was determined to get her ex-Master’s tattoo lasered off her body. Gasper might have been a tattoo artist – and from a Scottish Clan that in times long-past had fought with Isla’s ancestors – but nothing could sway the large bear when he discovered Isla was his mate. Can they forge something meaningful together?

I found this to be a fun romp of a short story. I loved the British-ness of the author’s voice coming through with Isla and the funky, very modern aspect of Isla’s character. In the first few chapters I realised this was definitely a “grab a drink, sit back and enjoy it” style of story for me, personally. Logic and good reason was cast out the window and I just relaxed with all the shenanigans that went on. With Gasper and Isla being two modern, horny characters, were-bear paranormal stuff and a BDSM Dom/sub aspect to their relationship this short story packs a hell of a lot into its brief and fun punch. I initially thought that there would maybe be too many aspects crammed into the one story, but I can honestly say I felt the authors did an amazing job here. While fast-paced and definitely modern in how quickly everything moved right along, I didn’t feel that any part of the story was given short shrift. And this both delighted and surprised me.

Had I not just sat back and let the story take me away, there is plenty that might trip up readers looking for a more plot-intense or heavy style of book. This is not a deep exploration or look into the intricacies of the BDSM lifestyle or a heavily world-building paranormal style of story. But readers looking for a light, happy and seriously smoking hot sexy read should find this as enjoyable as I did. The BDSM is fairly light – while Gasper truly was into the lifestyle Isla had only really dabbled in it previously and so their explorations didn’t have time to get really deep with the short length of the story.

Sexy, fresh and modern I found this to be a fun, fast-paced short story with lots to recommend to it. An enjoyable read and the start of a new series I plan to keep an eye out for.

Noah and Summer had been a thing many a moon ago, but some doctored photos, a stunning blonde co-star and a number of insecurities had them both blowing up and leaving the other hurting badly. Time has rolled on though, and now Noah is back in town again. Noah and Summer still desperately crave each other, but have they learned lessons from their previous mistakes?

I found this to be a fun and light short story. I was pleased that Noah and Summer’s break up was well into their past – and while the hurt and problems still needed resolving between them, the actual arguments had eased with the passage of time. The doctored photos – or more precisely, Summer’s lack of self-confidence and faith in Noah – both felt a bit clichéd and I don’t feel I’d have been as empathetic or forgiving to Summer had that all happened during the book itself. Summer having the calmness and strength from a few years having passed gave her a much more realistic and mature outlook on the situation and her being able to own up to her mistakes really helped me feel in her corner and root for her and Noah to patch their relationship up.

One of the reasons I picked this story up was because it was the second in the Bare Alley Ink series – about a tattoo parlour where the tattoo artist is a bear shifter. Therefore I was quite disappointed that pretty much none of this story revolved around either the parlour, or really anything much paranormal. I feel readers hoping for a paranormal or shape-shifter world (or element to the story) will find this lacking in that respect.

From the perspective of a romance reader though, I did enjoy how most of the plot centered around Noah and Summer reconnecting and almost starting their relationship new once again. Instead of re-hashing old arguments, or being plagued by what could have been or other far less romantic and interesting aspects which the book could have focused on, I really enjoyed seeing the two characters show each other just how much they had each matured, and how honest they were with just how badly they had missed the other. I found it sweet and romantic and a good indication that they’d both learned from their mistakes and personal issues.

With some steamy sex and plenty of emotion, this was a fun and happy contemporary story that I enjoyed.

Brothers Felix, Asher, and Tate share a great deal more than DNA. Close in a way few understand, the Baers eat, sleep, and work under the same roof. They support each other’s every endeavor, including beguiling the occasional weekend guest at their secluded cabin in the woods.

An outrageous proposition … a compelling attraction—will it be more than one woman can handle? Or, for Christa, will three Baers be JUST RIGHT?

Christa hadn’t fully recovered from a horrendous break-up a few months earlier, and seeing her ex with his new lover had ended up in a tequila fuelled evening out. When Christa wakes up to find herself in a cabin with three brothers she’s not quite sure what to make of it all. Tate, Asher and Felix might be handsome and enormous men, but they each have their secrets and getting snowed in means none of them can easily run away from the situation they find themselves confronting.

This is a fun and fast-moving story that I felt had plenty of sex and chemistry in it. I could never work out if I enjoyed or cringed at the brother’s nickname – Goldie – for Christa. On the one hand it felt pretty clichéd (and the three bears…) but on the other it really helped lighten what could have been a rocky introduction and I feel it’s certainly possibly the author wrote this with a bit of tongue-in-cheek whimsy – which I enjoyed. The story as a whole felt equal parts clichéd and amusing, the tequila fueled party-night after seeing her ex, the dreams and the beginning of the relationship itself all were well-written but nothing new. What really drew my attention though was Christa’s style and tone of voice. I really related to her and empathized with her situation a lot more than I expected. I wanted to see how she dealt with three enormous men. I found myself invested very early on and this helped sway me into enjoying the book rather than finding it too over the top or clichéd.

Readers looking for a complicated plotline or a paranormal tale won’t find that here. Considering the cover art, the “three brother Baers” and a few other tid-bits I expected this story to be a Paranormal about three bear-shifters, which wasn’t the case. I wasn’t disappointed – but I was a little puzzled and surprised. That said, I found this to definitely be a fun, sexy and slightly cheeky story with oodles of steamy hot three-on-one sex. The main aspect of the plot is Christa developing her relationship with the three Baers – Asher, Felix and Tate – and them all working out how they fit best together. I believe that readers who enjoy strongly erotic, emotional stories should find this hits all the right spots for them.

With a delicious – but again slightly clichéd – ending, three hot, handsome brothers and more erotic interludes than you can poke a stick at, I found this to be a light, entertaining and fun story that left me smiling and feeling good.

I was pleased that Todd didn’t get all alpha-Dominant right from the very start, but rather he eased himself and JD into the more BDSM elements that entered into their relationship. I found this really helped me feel the story was realistic – but also gave me a chance to get to know Todd and JD’s characters a little better before they got their kink on.

A part of me felt that JD trusted Todd a little quicker than I would have expected for a closeted, slightly repressed young man – but while it didn’t strike me, personally, as realistic I could see where the author was coming from in not wanting to drag out the BDSM element to their relationship. The speed and depth of trust between the heroes is totally a matter of the readers personal taste, and while it was a little hasty for me – I bet plenty of other readers will feel it’s paced exactly right.

While most of the story revolves around the two men, there were a few very strongly drawn and interesting secondary characters that I felt helped add to the plot. This gave the store a more three-dimensional feel. Instead of the romance and growing relationship being the only aspect of plot one of JDs colleagues in particular helped give another element – and plenty of conflict too – to the story as a whole and made it feel deeper to me. While the character isn’t a villain in the more traditional sense, he is extremely homophobic and unpleasant (as bad guys are meant to be). Readers looking for happy and light fluff style of story mightn’t find this suits what they’re looking for. That said I really feel this story should appeal to a wide range of readers. There is plenty of steamy sex and a fair bit of kink – nothing too over the top, but enough I’d not be recommending this book to readers who prefer a little less spice and explicitness in their romances.

Sexy and steamy – this is a really good M/M romance with a lovely dose of kink and spice. Great characters and a realistic feel this is a lovely story I greatly enjoyed.

Seduced by the expedition’s luxurious accommodations, state-of-the-art equipment, and daily baskets of fresh muffins, Kea begins to wonder if she picked the wrong field of research. Until people start dying…

Kea is on an expedition with two close friends, trying to mentally and emotionally recover from another expedition the previous year that had gone horribly wrong. Determined to put the past behind her and get her life back on track, she is struggling but determined to make it work. Only Kea has been called in to help keep this African project safe from people with no qualms about using violence to get exactly what they want.

I found this to be a really interesting story, filled with realism and excellent descriptions that proved to me the author had not only done his research, but also experienced much of the African landscape and settings detailed within the story. I was impressed how this story was woven together, with descriptions and details that really made me feel present – but not so heavily over-the-top to slow the plot or action down. It’s a delicate balance that isn’t easy to achieve and I feel the author managed this really well. While there aren’t an enormous number of characters, I felt there were enough of them – and very well drawn and defined – to make the story interesting and kept my attention throughout.

While it’s clear there is a previous story featuring Kea, I was equally relieved and pleased that the author gave enough history so the reader could pick this story up fresh and understand what Kea was trying to recover from without being beaten over the head with the previous story itself. I felt like I got enough details on Kea and her situation to get a good feel for the character without feeling like I was missing out and that helped this story feel stand-alone.

I feel this story will particularly appeal to readers who enjoy adventure and archaeology styles of stories – part Indiana Jones, part Tomb Raider I loved how the story blended scientific fact, real-life expedition adventures and the action-based storyline too. The main characters and plot itself while well-written weren’t unique enough to make the story outstanding, but I feel certain this story will stick out in my mind because of the realism and exceptional details of the African exploration and adventure side of the story as a whole. The author did an amazing job taking me to the African desert and I enjoyed every moment of the experience. The mystery unfolded at a good pace – and I feel this aspect of the plot was well developed and should help retain most readers attention coupled with all the other interesting elements of the story.

A well-written story with interesting characters and fantastic attention to detail that really had me feeling like I was travelling alongside Kea. There’s enough adventure and mystery woven among everything that I feel this should be a good and enveloping read for most and I’d happily try other stories written by this author.
