Teak, the second hero and the reason for the title, is a man who long ago accepted his lifestyle and orientation. He is a hard working man who goes after what he wants. It’s how he ended up in the town of Westcott. He catches Kevin’s assessing gaze and the hook is set. I liked that Teak understood and respected where Kevin was coming from. He didn’t push, dominate or embarrass the other hero at all. He acted normal and friendly and accepting. Teak knew the score, recognized the signals and seduced Kevin just by being his ordinary handsome self – with a few teases thrown in to whet the appetite.

It’s a slow/fast build-up. By that I mean, Kevin jumps in but backs off, like a puppy – wants to play but is a bit wary. He advances a bit and then hides emotionally – but not for long. Kevin is old enough of a character to know his own mind and he did a quick analyzing of his feelings. What he found brought joy to his heart but a lot of confusion too. That didn’t stop him from wanting to explore this new kind of relationship and I found it heartening that there was a hint of trust already building between the two heroes. There had to have been for what happens later in the book.

When they finally connect, emotionally and physically, the scenes are explosive. Even the little kissing skirmishes peppering the beginning of their relationship are hot. Ms. Church has a vibrant imagination and she shares the joy of exploring man on man loving enough times that erotic romance readers will find many opportunities for satisfaction.

What made this entertaining and interesting book better for me was the conflict. I could really sink my teeth into the seething rage, twisted vengeance and spiteful actions of one of the secondary characters. That was incredibly well written and I enjoyed how the author had Kevin handling it. He had class, brains and no nonsense attitude that really impressed me. He was as smooth as James Bond with just as much firmness and discipline in his actions. Another thing the conflict did was solidify Kevin’s acceptance of himself and his relationship with Teak. It was wonderful and thoroughly engaging.

The editing was good, dialogue well paced and clear to each character, and the development of Kevin and Teak’s relationship solidly built.

Hard as Teak is a story about taking chances on your dreams, of not settling for less but going for the brass ring and finding a joy beyond your wildest imagination. This story is as sizzling and scorching in the sheet department as an erotic romance reader could possibly wish. The sultry touches, the heat-filled eyes glazed in passion and the possessive and passionate hold each hero has for the other comes through with crystal clarity. The best part is Kevin finding happiness and a happily ever after he never thought he’d have. Teak is a good contrast to Kevin’s personality and Ms. Church made me believe their relationship is not only going to work but will be around for the long haul. Hard as Teak satisfied the romantic in me and I’m glad I read it.

Not only was his story tragic but the author had me so emotionally attached to his character I felt as if he was a real friend of mind instead of just a character in a story. Then when Cameron failed to recognize what Quaid needed I was as infuriated as the secondary characters within this story. Luckily for Cameron he and Quaid were able to work out their problems and have their happily ever after, because if not I was jumping in the story and smacking him on the back of his head.

This does not mean that I did not like Cameron’s character. I had to learn why he reacted the way he did to situations, which really explained a lot. I did not have the privilege of reading the first installment of this series, but after getting introduced to the characters of the first story I immediately added it to my must read list. While I felt the biggest connection to the main characters, the supporting characters were just as entertaining. Little things like Toby slapping Carmeron made me get to know the supporting characters and anticipate their involvement within the storyline.

The relationship development within this story was consistent and entertaining. I was drawn into the relationship from page one and never felt detached. The antagonistic conflict within this story also added an extra bonus. I would have liked to see a little more of a dramatic climax in the antagonistic conflict. It seemed to have been solved a little too easily for me. This antagonistic conflict is also, why I labeled this a forced seduction. While the sexual act was not completed the antagonists did try to force themselves on one of the main characters, and it is mentioned that they have done so in the characters past. Even so, I still thoroughly enjoyed this story and would read it again, and recommend it to everyone I know who reads erotica.

I’m always a little skeptical when it comes to ménage love stories but she wrote a love story between three men who felt as if not being a trio wasn’t an option.

As a follower of the Midnight Matings series, it’s a little frustrating that the first few pages are just rereading what is in all the other books; the “why” of the forced matings. We get a deeper view into Kane in this sequel and the conflict between him and Josh deepens. Kane is not as sure of his own emotions and this along with Josh’s insecurities fuels their conflict. The Christmas they share is so touchingly romantic it made me cry a little.

The sex is…wild, unabashed, wickedly sexy. This not for the faint of heart. The conflict is entwined through the whole story. There’s so much fire and emotion between these two. They bring out such explosive reactions in each other. The midpoint presents real emotional dangers from two directions.

There’s not a single boring moment in the story. Ms. Blackwell kept me on the edge of my seat for one afternoon. It was impossible to stop reading. I had to find out what happened next. This story is wild passion, conflict, fury, tenderness, one steady, outrageous roller coaster ride for the emotions. This is erotic romance at it’s best. It’s definitely got a special spot reserved on my keeper shelf.

For those who would enjoy a quick little uplifting tale that doesn’t demand more than your enjoyment, I recommend Me and Mr. Jones.

Still, he has a mission to complete and a coven leader to protect. When a wolf shifter interferes with that duty, the fight is on. Before Sterling knows it, he’s accidentally mated to the Alpha of the Pacific Northwest Region. It’s just too bad that his new mate swears he isn’t gay. It gets even worse when Sterling finds out that Beau is engaged to be married.

Heartbroken, Sterling drops Beau off in the middle of nowhere and flees back to New York only to find out that the hell waiting for him there is worse than what he left in a Wyoming airport. Someone is trying to claim him, and it’s not his mate.

With every new addition to the Midnight Matings series we meet character who are forced together when in their regular lives would never have met. The whole concept of forcing individuals of different species to mate makes for some very entertaining reading and for some of the sweetest love stories I have ever read.

Sterling and Beau are victims like all the other paranormals attending the council meeting and are accidently mated to one another. This relationship starts off rocky and full of misunderstandings and misgivings. Sterling is a vampire who found himself mated to an alpha werewolf. Sterling may be a small man but he is a strong force to be reckoned with. I really liked this character. His small size gives people the impression that he isn’t a threat but he is the biggest threat anyone could come against. For me Beau came off as a very likable man who is doing his best to feel his way through all these new emotions he is experiencing.

Conflicts come in pairs where this couple is concerned. Sterling’s ex-coven leader has lost his marbles and thinks Sterling is his and his alone. Then Beau’s fiancé of convenience is not taking the broken engagement well. Both these men are strong and capable of taking care of themselves and each other; it’s just allowing the other to face unknown danger that seems to be their main problem. And with scorned individuals from their past they will need all the help they can get to have good over come evil.

There was a character by the name of Micah that made an impact in this story. His role within the story was small but memorable and I would like to see him get his own story.

Ms. Glenn paired together two men who butt heads yet complement each other so well. Their love is one of struggles at first but worth it in the end. Besides being a love story it was also very funny at times. The dialogue between Sterling and Beau was realistic and gave me a good chuckle. This author has the ability to bring a tear to my eye and make me laugh out loud and I look forward to reading more from this complicated world of forced matings.
