Where’s the Fine Line… Between darkness and desire Need and oblivion Pain and pleasure A man as talented as Sinner bass guitarist Jace Seymour needs a woman who can beat out his self-doubt… A woman as strong as Mistress V needs a man she can’t always overpower… And in each other’s tight embrace, an escape from harsh reality is always a welcome diversion…

Hot Ticket is Jace’s story in Olivia Cunning’s Sinners on Tour series, showing the inside of a rock band on tour. Ms. Cunning has a deliciously hot world, with rock heroes who each have a vulnerable side, and strong women who love them and can handle the problems inherent in a relationship with said heroes.

It uses actions aesthetic and therapeutically to get goals which are significant to a person and when a person fails to make proper erections it is then the need of these firms comes. cheap generic tadalafil It improves ejaculatory force pills cialis to enjoy enhanced pleasure in the bed. Male sexual confidence plays an super cheap viagra important part for the quality of erections. A man cannot think of having sex with sildenafil 100mg price his woman at any age. Sinners is on tour, and having the time of their lives, along with some very uncomfortable complications. At the bachelor party for lead singer Brian Sinclair, Jace Seymor, bassist for Sinners, newest member of the celebrated band, is captivated by one of the dancers at the club, Aggie Blake. Aggie plays the part of dominatrix in the club, and in real life as well, and Jace needs what she can provide: pain and lots of it. Before they can connect, however, a fight breaks out and the band has to leave. Jace returns as thing calm down, and Aggie gives him her business card and an appointment for the next night. Aggie had noticed him in the club, the man with the face of an innocent and a body made for sin, and although she isn’t looking for a man, he works his way into her life and into her heart. She wants to help him heal the many hurts inside, so he can stop punishing himself, and for the first time in her life, Aggie is willing to give up control to a man. And for the first time in his life, Jace is able to begin to open up and heal the rift in his soul. Can Aggie help Jace overcome the pain from his past? Can Jace convince Aggie to take a chance on him, with all of his baggage? Together can these two wounded souls forge a future with love?

I like this world, my guilty pleasure is rock music, the heavier the better, and the bands that play it. I enjoy these peeks behind the scenes that Ms. Cunning provides, and the intrigue of wondering if she based a specific character on someone real in the business.

Jace Seymor is the strong silent type, with wounds that go deep in his soul. With a tortured past, he needs the release that pain brings him, and feels he needs to be punished. When he meets Aggie, she is the first woman who accepts his kinky side and doesn’t tell him he’s sick for it. As he grows closer to Aggie, he begins to learn more about himself, and slowly is able to see that there are people that really care about him. I like Jace for his sensitive and sweet side, and enjoyed watching as he was able to show it more as he and Aggie grew together.

Aggie Blake has never felt the need for a man in her life, at least until Jace Seymor came along. Something about his blond hair, innocent face and hot body draws out her desires and shatters the walls she keeps up against the world. I like Aggie for her honesty and her no-hold-barred attitude toward life. She is strong and independent, and watching her as she learns that, with the right person, submitting doesn’t mean weakness. She has never had a man like Jace, able to take it all and still respect her as an individual. I liked watching as Jace surprised her, over and over, warming the heart she didn’t know she still had.

This is one of the hottest of the Sinners on Tour books yet, with Aggie and Jace pushing each other’s limits until they both discover just how strong they can be together. These two are not perfect, but they are perfect for each other, and I enjoyed some of the scenes in Aggie’s dungeon as they explored each other’s boundaries. The action, and the sex, is definitely not for the squeamish, and if you aren’t sure about BDSM, this is not the book to read. I do recommend that these be read in a certain order, to get the proper sequence of events from the tour as Ms. Cunning has let it unfold instead of treating this as a standalone read. But be warned, this has one hot rocker with the face of an angel and the body of a sinner, and the woman who whipped him into love.

Every Prize Comes with Complications…

A game of chance saves James Collington from the prospect of debtors’ prison, and grants him ownership to Tethering estate. Little does he know that his winnings come with serious complications–not least of which is a beautiful but impoverished young lady who insists his new manor belongs to her.

If He Can’t Stop Her, He Might as Well Join Her…

Felicity Wilcox is determined to run Mr. Collington off her land, Though James’s charm and devilish good looks are a serious distraction. What she doesn’t know is that she may be haunting him right back.

Life can be serious and abound with problems, so finding someone to be playful with and relate to even when working at cross purposes is a treasure not to be overlooked. Felicity Wilcox and James Collington spark that sense of fun from their first encounter and lure the reader into a delightful story that page by page carries everyone along as Felicity and James find their way through a maze of actions and decisions that give the reader an absorbing vicarious experience.

How she copes with her improvised situation is unorthodox but it gets results even if it was not the results she had in mind.

Her strength of character and steadfast efforts to do what she thinks is right make her an admirable heroine. Her sense of humor and how comfortable she is in her own skin make her a delight to have a vicarious experience with; whether she is haunting Tethering Hall or charming the would-be suitors in London.

She and James Collington both have to work through a muddle of family duty issues before they can truly have lives of their own. The issues they must resolve to free themselves and the things they must forgive themselves for make tantalizing reading as they grapple with whether to hang on to the past or moving on with the ever-changing world that is their future. However, the honest, natural fun and the playful then consuming love that emerges are best of all.

James Collington has always been a goal setter and then follows through regardless of the hard work involved. His work ethic and his single-minded focus on putting his family’s affairs to right get thwarted by the delectable Felicity and the feeling she ignites in him. Her haunting antics set them up for a BIG change in their lives. He has some huge decisions to make about his life and his efforts. His Aunt Miranda who seems a little ditzy at times says just the right thing at the right time to set him free from long-held believes that he had to set things right without regard to his personal desires.

Crispin Markham, the vicar who has a past with Felicity and Felicity’s father help move the plot along. They both think they know what is best for Felicity to do with her life. She listens then sets a course to find her own way before a future she does not want is forced upon her. James’ family does their part to influence his and Felicity’s relationship. Lydia and Alice, James’ little relatives attach themselves to Felicity and help reveal a special facet of both Felicity and James’ personalities.

Emily Greenwood does a wonderful job of luring the reader into the lives of the hero and heroine. She captured and kept my attention from the initial scene of Felicity falling in the creek to the very end with living in a tent in Spain with eyes toward bigger things to come. All the way to the end, Ms. Greenwood delights the reader with a touch of mischief and humor. Best of all she infuses a heartwarming love that leaves the reader feeling all is coming right for the two characters that came into their own. Great entertainment!

Honor or happiness-he can’t have both.

Tiberius Flynn travels to Scot land with orders to snatch his young niece away from her Highland relations. He thinks it’s going to be an easy task, until he meets the feisty little girl and her fiercely protective step-aunt. A smart, headstrong beauty, Hester Daniels has no use for an English lord with high-handed ways, no matter how handsome or beguiling he may be…

Tye sets out to seduce Hester and win over Fiona, only to discover that he’s losing his heart to a woman who’s as untamable as Scotland itself…

Mm, mm, good, maybe even better than the first book in the MacGregor series!

Once Upon a Tartan is skillfully written with eloquent, revealing words, and subtle humor to tantalize the senses and send the reader on an emotional rollercoaster ride for an awesome vicarious experience.

Hester Daniels, her young, irrepressible niece Fiona, and the very old, worldly-wise Aunt Ariadne have cobbled together a household comfortable for them all while Fiona’s mother and stepfather are on an extended trip. When the Earl of Spathfoy, Tiberius “Tye” Flynn appears, lives are forever changed. He is Fiona’s uncle on the paternal side of her family that has ignored her existence until now. The conflicts, the subtle maneuvering, and the many types of love that come to the fore make Once Upon a Tartan a keeper. It sparkles, shimmers, and shines with characters that are multi-faceted who all seem comfortable in their own skin and not afraid to speak up for themselves. I admire and cheer on strong characters.

I fell in love with the vivacious little Fiona. She is a breath of fresh air. She climbs tress, reads to trees, and sings to them and declares them very nice. She chatters like a magpie, is a trove of information, and it never enters her mind to be daunted by her Uncle Tye. She even grins and winks at him when he’s grumpy. The fact that he is an earl means nothing in her young life. How she relates to all the adults in her life is an amazing story in itself.
As you age, the same process of work of the branded cheap cialis you can look here. I really thought that my buy viagra click for source romancing days were over. Pet health supplements available in the market As we have discussed above there are a lot of viagra cheapest online informative website products available in the market claiming their demands to solve the problem. It is quite natural that you get anxious during you first sexual act, but if buy sildenafil uk you facing this problem every time then this is certainly a big problem.
Hester hates that good manners force her to offer the Earl of Spathfoy hospitality, while Aunt Ariadne is quite happy to have him around. Hester cannot get past the fact that Tye’s deceased brother, a spoiled, selfish womanizer, had not dealt honorably with her sister. Moreover, his family had not acknowledged his “handfasted” wife or his daughter.

Hester does not hold men in the highest regard since Jasper Merriman forced his sexual attention upon her while they were engaged. She jilted him and alienated London Society and her own mother. Now, in virtual exile with most of her options gone, she considers herself a spinster. She is certain she is not marriage material for an Earl. Her self-esteem has been battered. However, with Aunt Ariadne’s encouragement and Tye’s (at first) aggravating attention, a most delightful and heart-warming story of love and friendship takes root, sprouts and grows strong.

The arrogant, but honorable Tye is plagued with guilt but feels honor bound to carry out his father’s wishes. His bluster with an undercurrent of humor often revealed in an avalanche of big words—in some cases naughty words—makes the interaction between him and Hester, Fiona, and even Ian brings chuckles and giggles at times. It keeps one’s attention focused on what is going to happen next.

Ian MacGregor, Fiona’s uncle on the maternal side of her family, and his wife Augusta were primary characters in The Bridegroom Wore Plaid , the first book in the MacGregor series. They have a strong influence in this story also. Their side story, so full of love and humor about their “Terror”, the baby that rules their life captivates and blends in to the main story beautifully. Ian’s love for Fiona and the length he’ll go to in order to protect her shows a wonderful, deep, familial love that touches the heart.

The love scenes with Hester and Tye let the reader know that there is so much more to their love than just the physical attraction. They bolster each other’s sense of self-worth and reach out to each other in sincere caring. Their awesome sexual encounters show a joy for living that takes the breath away.

Grace Burrowes weaves her magic with words to show the many facets of the characters that emerge as she immerses the reader in the environment, the inner struggles of the characters, the joy of life they have, and the machinations of Tye’s manipulative father. He is an antagonist one could hate yet feel sorry for at the same time.

The strong women, the strong yet sensitive men, and a child as untamable as her fiercely protective and loving aunt make One Upon a Tartan a memorable love story—excellent and exquisite.

Jaguar shifter Maya Anderson learns about a secret jaguar society through undergournd social networking sites. She wanted to discover others like her, but now she’s got more trouble than she bargained for—including one hot jaguar shifter who’s set his sights on her. Wade Patterson has learned that Maya is a shifter—and available. But how does he get to know her when he left such a bad first impresssion? When he learns Maya has gone to a watering hole for jaguar shifters to meet up, he quickly follows after, hoping she is wily enough to hold her own…

Unrequited love is sad but unrequited lust can lend a comedic edge to a tale. An otherwise well-adjusted alpha male who is used to being in control at all times finds himself confused, frustrated and thoroughly out of sorts. He’s envious of another man because of what he believes he has. Sad because he wishes he could have just one, just one to call his own. And the sparks fly when Wade, the hero, finds out that nothing is the way he thought. The chase is on.

Maya is the target of Wade’s obsession. It started in the first book when I first met her brother, Connor in Savage Hunger. Maya and Wade were secondary characters there but in Jaguar Fever they take center stage. Conner and Kat, his wife, help out in this novel, but the focus is on Wade and Maya. This book has no problems being a standalone story. Any background information a reader needs is provided seamlessly and naturally as part of the plot to get Wade up to speed.

The author introduces a couple more interesting guys for future readers to drool over. There is no way Ms. Spear can leave these two new guys unfettered by love, they have what romance readers like. Throw in Wade’s brother, David and I’m hooked for at least three more books. All the guys have that certain something that makes me want more. The author has presented enough hints about their personalities to create an interest without overshadowing or undermining the focus from Wade or Maya. On top of that, there is the clever addition of a character I think comes from her wolf series. I KNOW there are going to be ramifications from what happens in this book. There has to be. But I can’t even begin to guess how that is going to manifest in a future book. These are the best kinds of teases.

I liked Wade. He’s in the “service” and he’s top notch. I liked the ways the author showed just how much Maya distracted him. It alternates between sexy and amusing.
Made up of White Musli, http://secretworldchronicle.com/tag/trini/ buy generic levitra Aswagandha, Dalchini, Kesar, Illaichi, Peepal, Jaiphal, etc, this product is completely herbal. Erectile dysfunction prevents men from achieving an erection long enough for order generic viagra lovemaking session. Myth: viagra online for sale Jacking off can make your penis bigger.
I enjoyed Maya and her propensity to strike out on her own, to be her own person. She does make some right decisions but they come at a cost. She makes some bad decisions and they end up biting back later in the book.

There is quite a bit of action. It’s well written and the author chose her words well. The violence is there but it’s just enough to get the point across without being gratuitous. The bad guys are quickly dispatched in various manners so readers will see justice meted out. Justice doesn’t always end in death however and I was pretty happy about that.

Ms. Spear ramped up the sexy with the shower scene. Wow, that was hot. Wade and Maya had plenty of opportunities to get hooked on each other. The thing that struck me most was the lack of the word ‘love’. Neither character was rushing towards that kind of commitment. They were both wary for different reasons. Some romances have either the heroine or the hero realizing what they might be feeling early on and it becomes a part of the plot conflict – that internal struggle of acceptance versus denial. That didn’t happen so much in this book. It was more of a growth through shared experiences. They each saw the best of each other and the worst in each crisis they faced. And every significant step brought them closer to the realization that it really wasn’t lust after all. There was something more. When the external crisis became critical, all the emotional dominoes fell into place. And yet…one says it and the other merely alludes to it. Do actions speak louder than words? Can “I love you” be translated in other ways other than the verbal three words? In this case, I think so. I would have preferred a mutual open sharing but I guess what the author did was keep the characters true to themselves. Some people are SO stubborn.

Another aspect I liked in the book was the teasing between siblings, the re-verification of the sister-like bond between Maya and Kat and the funny digs Dave gives to his brother, Wade. I loved how Connor gave Wade a hard time in the beginning and how Wade pushed back. I thought the man to man relationship growth was awesome. I could see the beginnings of an extended family built on respect. I enjoyed that community feeling.

Jaguar Fever lures a reader in with humor, snares their attention with drama, captures their imagination with exotic locations and satisfies the romance reader with sexy seduction, culminating in an explosive action packed climax. This book has it all. I enjoyed the cat references because they reinforced the ‘otherness’ of the hero and heroine and yet, it added a level of cuteness to an otherwise very serious plot. Ms. Spear continues to provide well written tales that reach the heart, stimulate the imagination and satisfy that yearning for a happy ever after proving why she’s an auto-buy for me. This author delivers the goods every time. A reader can’t go wrong with stories by Terry Spear.

Trapped together on the Sinners tour bus for the summer, Sed and Jessica will rediscover the millions of steamy reasons they never should have called it quits in the first place…

Rock Hard is part of Olivia Cunning’s sinfully hot series, Sinners On Tour, a look at the intense lives of a famous, although fictional, rock band, and what goes on behind the scenes, on the bus and in the hotel rooms during one tour.

Jessica Chase is determined to succeed in law school…on her terms. When her fiancé, Sedric ‘Sed’ Lionheart tries to control her life and dictate to her, she breaks their engagement (and her heart) and walks away. When she needs to earn enough for one more semester, after some setbacks at school, she dances at a Vegas club with a friend, until one night, celebrating Brian Sinclair’s recent engagement at the very same club, Sed sees Jessica on stage nearly naked and almost destroys the club.

So why pay 8 times more levitra prices canada for a while. He was unacquainted with the challenges of the appalachianmagazine.com cialis properien medicine, stop taking the tablet and call for immediate medical help. Although, there are certain things which one should viagra online keep in mind that the doctors have to be certain that the website which you are able to consider with out any confusion. These medicines samples of levitra are available in different forms of consumption and taken by mouth only. Sed never stopped loving Jessica, but he can’t seem to get it through his head that control is the one thing that will drive her from him…again. After Jessica is fired, she accepts a job as Myrna’s assistant, not realizing that it means she will be traveling with the band, and Sed, for the next ten weeks. After some hot and sleepless nights, Jessica decides she will ‘scratch her itch’ using Sed for sex and not letting her heart become involved. Sed is delighted, but quickly learns that Jessica won’t stand for being treated as an object again. When tragedy hit too close, and Jessica realizes she could lose Sed forever, she realizes what is most important to her, and they find out that love isn’t easily forgotten after all. Can Jessica teach Sed what is important to her, and keep her identity? Can Sed learn to listen, and let loose of the reins fro time to time? Will almost losing everything be the catalyst to finally save these two?

I must confess, rock music is one of my guilty pleasures, and the men in this band are hot enough to melt hearts and panties the world over. I enjoyed this peek behind the scenes, and what happens when things aren’t always perfect. Ms. Cunning shows the vulnerable side of her strong heroes, and the determination of their women to make things happen, and she does it with humor, spontaneity, an lots of hot and steamy sex in strange and not always private places.

Jessica Chase is smart, dedicated and determined to live her life her way. When she walked away from the man she loves, it broke her heart, but she was determined to make it on her own without letting her career take second place to a controlling man like Sed. Too bad her heart didn’t get the memo. I like Jessica, with her sassy attitude, and her decision to do just like the guys do and take what she wants; and what she wants is Sed, even if it is just his body she thinks she wants. It was a delight to watch as she took what he offered, and just tried to tell herself it was only sex. Watching her teach Sed a lesson was one of the hottest parts of this one, and made the outcome all the sweeter.

Sedric ‘Sed’ Lionheart, lead singer of the Sinners, rock god beyond compare, doesn’t understand Jessica’s point of view. He is strong, talented, and just wants to protect and provide for everyone he cares about. That includes Jessica, and he just doesn’t get what went wrong. When he gets a second chance to earn her love, he is determined to listen and make things work, and I enjoyed watching as Sed began to understand what went wrong, and how he could win the love of his woman. I like watching as he learns to bite his tongue and let Jessica take the lead at times, knowing it will make things better in the end.

The interaction between the band members is such fun to see, from Trey’s unrequited love for band mate Brian, to Eric’s craziness, and Jace and his mysterious silence. But this is definitely Sed and Jessica’s story, and even when tragedy strikes, and Sed could lose it all, there is a sense that these five men will pull together and find some way to move through it and support Sed in his dark time. The heat generated by Jessica and Sed can keep a city warm on the coldest night, and the imagination and unique locations for their passionate trysts is beyond hot. Do Sed and Jessica find their happy ever after? Read Rock Hard to discover for yourself. I do recommend that Backstage Pass be read first, to discover the world Ms Cunning has so skillfully crafted.

A deadly game of deception
A notorious beauty with a shadowy past

In the time of Napoleon, Vidia Swanson appears to live a gilded life of ease and luxury. Beneath this façade, however, she works for the Home Office as an ‘angel,’ coaxing secrets from powerful men who may or may not be traitors to the Crown. In the course of her latest assignment, matters take an alarming turn when she realizes that her spymaster suspects that she is the one who is tainted–a double agent working for the enemy.

Lucien Carstairs is a fellow agent with his own dark secrets–unless he is setting an elaborate trap to reveal her own supposed treason. Backed into a corner, she can only hope to stay one step ahead of the hangman in a race to stop the next war before it destroys them–and destroys England.

Tainted Angel offers up a compelling game of cat and mouse in which no one can be trusted–and anyone can be tainted.

Replete with foreshadowing, clues, and chameleon characters, Tainted Angel is tantalizing and seductive. Trust is not to be found, but allegiance to the cause of saving England and staying alive in the process rules the lives of agents.

These medicines are in form of hard blue cialis brand https://drscoinc.com/state/maryland/ or white colored tablets, taken orally with water. ordine cialis on line Its symptoms usually occur in three to four months. Apart from that, patients can also have order cheap levitra check now this surgery in young stages for gaining the maximum benefits. Vidia Swanson, a renowned beauty who survived incredible odds as she made her way through the Napoleonic War zone from Portugal to England, does whatever needs to be done for the secret undercover group she works with. To be honest, she thrives on the danger and excitement. It keeps bad memories at bay.

Living in a house one man bought her, sleeping with another man, and fending off advances of would-be lovers, Vidia treads a perilous path. She knows some people suspect she is a double agent and would have no qualms about having her hanged. The mystery and suspense that surrounds her actions keeps the reader on tenterhooks. She lives on the brink of disaster and knows honesty is not part of the equation as she deals with people. Even the agents in her group are trying to set a trap for her.

She works as an “angel” most of the time. She distracts while another agent carries out the undercover operation. Her beauty is her most useful weapon and she uses it with phenomenal skill.

Carstairs, the agent she has worked with and now sleeps with, has an assignment to find out the truth about Vidia. Their attraction to each other is strong, but duty is stronger. They both agree “to be as honest as they can be in their dishonesty.”

Benjamin Brodie, the man who bought the house for Vidia, is a wealthy, self-confident, adventure-loving puppet master that plays people with consummate skill. He likes what he does. He takes care of himself at every turn and no one is quite sure of his allegiance. Is it to England, France or just to himself? His relationship with Vidia is unique and, to me, a real surprise. He is a planner deluxe.

The spymaster is one of the most interesting secondary characters. The way he relates to Vidia later in the story is riveting. None of the secondary characters can be discounted. They all add their special design to the overall tapestry of Tainted Angel. The subtle, but ever-present question about the elusive gold threads through the tapestry to the very end. Who would have thought of it being where it was?

Who ‘the rabbit’ is and the significant of the Argo kept me searching for clues.

Anne Cleeland’s concise writing style with its undercurrent of danger kept me turning pages with bated breath much of the time. While I wasn’t sure I even liked the characters in the beginning, as their back stories came to light and their true motivations were revealed, I felt a unique kind of empathy for them. Ms. Cleeland left plenty of ‘bread crumbs’ along the way, but I still got more than a few surprises. She tells a riveting tale about a time in history that redefined how governments would govern. More especially she created memorable characters, a plot that sizzles, and a happy-ever-after with a touch of humor. Good Reading!

Reading a good book while eating cupcakes. No better combination and that’s what’s to be found in Meet Me At the Cupcake Café. Ms. Colgan has managed to combine an interesting, witty plot with recipes for various sweet treats scattered throughout its pages.

I found myself cheering for everyone in this book. They’re skillfully drawn and come across as real people with issues we can all relate too, like losing a job, aging parents and grandparents etc. The lead character, Issy, is fun to follow as she deals with what to do with the rest of her life. There’s also Pearl who I thought was a memorable character and who often had the funniest dialogue.

Despite its 400 plus pages, the story seemed to clip by and you find yourself wanting to read just a little more at each sitting. I’ll definitely be looking out for more of this author’s books. I couldn’t read this book fast enough to keep up and know what was going on. And yeah, I wanted to know what would happen next. The writing is crisp, flows well and drew me right in.

I won’t give away tons of the plot, but there are twists, turns and plenty of heat.

Dillon is half man/half angel and so sexy. He wants to do nothing more than fulfill her every sexual wish. As I read, I thought, where can I get a Dillon of my own? He’s sweet, too. He’s concerned with her and wants to be what she needs. Seeing him fall for her was so fantastic.

Raine is a tough girl. She’s a deputy sheriff, so not a pushover. She deserves a guy like Dillon to rock her world. I’m glad he lands in her house. I liked the interplay between them. Very hot, but with a lot of heart. I wanted them to have a happily ever after.

If you want a book that delivers, then Smoking Hot might be what you’re looking for.

Colton Nelson was 28 when he won the Texas Lottery and went from ranch hand to ranch owner overnight. When women started lining up wanting some of his millions, even going so far as to drug his beer, his family asks the lovely new ranch assistant to help out by pretending to be his girlfriend. They make her an offer she can’t refuse, so even though she doesn’t like it one bit, Laura agrees to help. Laura Baker and her sister, Janet, had been raised in foster homes. Though she was the younger of the two, Laura was always bailing Janet out of trouble. Janet thinks Laura should take advantage of the billionaire cowboy but Laura is getting to know Colton intimately and she doesn’t give a damn about his money. True love isn’t for sale.

This book packs a wallop!

Let me start by saying I love the work of Carolyn Brown. Her cowboys simmer and the way she writes them, I can see them. Yes, she’s that descriptive. Her writing flows well and snagged me into the story right away. I know when I’ve got one of her books, I’m in for a good time.

Billion Dollar Cowboy is definitely a good time. Colton doesn’t want to be rich. Heck, he wants to run his ranch. He needs a little help, but that’s okay. Some of the things he goes through are a tad hard to believe, but people win the lottery–or wish they could–every day. I liked that story arc. The way he deals is to struggle and who wouldn’t? Going from some money to a whole LOT of money in a short time, it’s easy to see why he reacts the way he does. Laura is interesting, too, but not as much as Colton. There were times when I didn’t like her very much. Times when I wondered what the heck she was doing. But those times made me realize how emotionally involved I was in the story.

As with many of Carolyn Brown’s stories, there are a lot of characters to keep straight. At times, this is a tough order. I had to go back and re-read more than a couple times to be sure I knew who did what and why. But in the end, it was worth it.

If you love a story that’s got a homey feel with great characters, then this might be the book for you.

When a Perfectly Proper Lady…

Lady Mercy Danforthe always has a plan. It’s what makes her such a successful matchmaker, and why she’s obligated to spend a great deal of time generously organizing the lives of her friends and family. But there’s one man beyond her help. One man whose recklessness she can’t rein in; whose chaos she can’t contain. Her ex-husband, Rafe Hartley. Her one—and only!—mistake.

Flirts with a Reckless Rogue…

Rafe has never forgiven Mercy for running out on him. Their hastily annulled marriage may have one lasted three hours, but that doesn’t mean he needs her help finding a proper wife. Someone needs to teach little Miss Know-It-All a lesson about keeping her adorably freckled nose out of other people’s business. And it just so happens that Mercy “Silky Drawers” Danforthe still owes him a wedding night…

A Scandal’s Never Far Behind

What goes around, comes around, especially for a mysterious lady in black. Imagine my surprise, shock and delight when I figured out that this book picks up where another had left off, but years later. There is no doubt that this is a standalone read but when I realized that this Mercy Danforthe is the same one from The Wicked Wedding of Miss Ellie Vyne it tickled my fancy to realize that this young girl is all grown up and is still as opinionated and full of herself as before. What kind of trouble is she going to get into now?

What a tangled mess of yarn. It’s as true now as it was then – things that happened in our youth shape our decision making process in the future, for better or worse. I remember Mercy as being outspoken and quite a little lady of action. That inner motor, that drive to do and to make a mark has been honed and perfected in the Lady Mercy of the present. Readers will have no trouble at all figuring that out.

What they won’t realize although I had a sniggle of memory from before, is why she is the way she is. I blame it on her brother. Readers will be quick on seeing that as well. It’s tragic, really. You know the old saying, “attention for being bad is better than no attention at all”? That sums up the backdrop that drives the overall motive of the story. It started out that way but became a way of life. It’s pitiful! But don’t let Lady Mercy hear you say that, she’d be affronted. She has things all planned out and all the logical details dance to her whim. Or so she likes to think. As the tale goes on, a reader gets to understand that Mercy isn’t shallow but very passionate, caring and still has her bonnet hung on one man. The worst sort of man – Rafe.

Rafe is borderline anti-hero. He has a veneer, a role he plays and he makes sure no one sees anything other than what he wants them to see. The rest see what they want to, and that’s just fine with him. Except, there’s this delightful older woman who sees in him something much more and it was gratifying to see that he took her words to heart. One of them will rue the day but half the fun is in figuring out who, why and when. As a reader gets to know him, the nuances that make up the man begin to show and he’s actually a pretty good guy. He’s really confused, confounded and tied in knots whenever Mercy is on the scene but that’s part of his charm. I suspect readers will pick up on the clues long before Rafe, the man who makes denial an art form, figures out his true feelings. Until then he has the misguided notion that Mercy should find him a bride. That has ‘disaster’ written all over it and I had a ton of fun watching that intent unravel.

When Mercy and Rafe do experience that long delayed wedding night, it’s well written and does not go according to plan. Nothing between them actually does which is perfect.

Speaking of which, I mention Mrs. Pyke. What an odd duck. Ungrateful wench too. Both Rafe and Mercy had dealings with that woman and I’m still of undecided mind if she was a helpful secondary character to have, or a hindrance. I felt bad for the kids and I kind of expected someone to say or do something, but they never did. Not really. It got my dander up.

Other secondary characters were much better received and I thought they did a splendid job of highlighting both Rafe and Mercy’s personalities not to mention prodding the plot and/or conflict along as needed. Most were interesting and gave the scenes flavor.

The most silly, endearing and fun scene came towards the end. I cracked up at the part when someone fainted and Lady Ursula made her demands. Those couple of pages were well written, pure genius and had me grinning from ear to ear. The best part was the reward of a satisfying happy-ever-after. Well worth the journey.

Lady Mercy Danforthe Flirts with Scandal is an eventful book about a busy lady who learns the value of being true to herself and that perfection is way overrated. It’s entertaining, well told and dare I say, cute. It’s light on the suspense and there’s no dark drama. Sometimes, airy but with substance is exactly what I need and on the day I read Lady Mercy Danforthe Flirts with Scandal, it was perfect.
