This is my first Shona Husk story, but it won’t be the last. In just a few pages, I felt like I was right there with Josie and Kede as they fumbled through their issues. Heck, twelve months without nookie makes anyone a little twitchy. I liked how Kede, even though he was there as a pleasure object, became more to her. His job, though seemingly easy and no-strings, was actually really hard because of one major issue. But it worked.

My only complaint, and really it wasn’t much of one, was the pacing. Things happened really fast in this story and it was a bit hard to believe that love or a relationship can form in the matter of a couple days. I’m not saying it’s impossible. I love a good fall-in-love-overnight story, just like this one. It’s just quick. I wanted to see things develop longer, but there is the pesky issue of the lamp and the sand. So really, the issue isn’t one because things happen in the story for a reason.

Overall this was a great read I want to go back and visit again and again. I give Boyfriend in a Bottle 3.5 cherries.

This is a good story, but had the author allowed these two to meet up again by pure chance or have them meet because of something to do with their accident, I think it would have made for a stronger story.

All the characters are likeable and believable. Justin is very sexy and you’re drawn to him on the first page. I especially liked the dialogue. It’s very snappy with one-liners flying back and forth between Justin and Kat, which I felt took the sexual tension up a notch or two. In addition, the secondary characters were well developed and moved the story forward. There was just the right amount of sex scenes for the length of the book. I also enjoyed the setting—most ranch-type stories are set in Texas or Wyoming, so Nevada gave it a nice twist with the opening taking place in downtown Las Vegas.

It’s almost like Donovan believes that getting his story out there might help him redeem himself. I think this is a cute touch from the author, to make him a writer and to get input from his readers. I think the novella could have easily been made into a full length novel that I would love to read.

Riley Ashford has created a steamy, quick read that has a sweet breakup and makeup storyline where emotions run high and the pulse quickens.

Adam was forced to change his entire world, which he willingly did, and it would have been nice to see Paul at least try to adapt to the relationship instead of expecting Adam to accept him any way he could get him.

The lost love theme really gave the story an idyllic feeling from beginning to end.

I, for one, love a boy who loves kissing boys and that’s exactly what I got in this story.

I would’ve liked to have seen things through Dave’s eyes, though. I get that this was an journey for Nancy, but I wanted to get his side of things – how did he feel? Why keep the club a secret? I also didn’t see his need to keep the secret, but everyone has those things they don’t really want to share, so the reader can identify with his reluctance.

Nancy is interesting in her own right. At times she came across as a tad horny, but after the series of events, it was expected. I laughed as she got the waxing. Not having the stamina or the threshold for pain to try it, it was hilarious to live vicariously through her. I liked how she grew through the story as well. Where at first she seemed naive, the transformation is nice to read about. I loved the person she became because she could show more of her chutzpah.

If you want a story that has a little spice, a little mystery and a lot of personal experience, then you need to read Dave and Nancy’s Story. I give it three cherries.

I wanted to know if they fell for each other on more of an emotional level. While I like a well-written sex scene, I want some romance involved as well. Though it’s completely plausible for a guy and a girl to fall into mad, passionate, abandon after only a few moments together, I wanted to know what happened afterwards and really get to know them.

If you’re looking for a story that delivers heat and is great for a quick beach read, this may be the book for you. I give Good Cop, Bad Girl 3 cherries.

The Men of CCD: Help Wanted by Marie Rochelle is written in third person from both Keira’s and Jim’s perspectives and their characters are well-developed. Jim and Keira have strong personalities, and they frequently butt heads. They harbored many misconceptions about each other, and it did not take either of them long to work through them. I did find Jim to be a little overbearing on occasion, but overall, I liked him. And if the first half of the novel was a little slow, the second half picked up and moved at a brisk pace. I thoroughly enjoyed Keira’s transformation back to the tough, confident woman she was before the plane crash. Since this the fourth book in the Men of CCD series, we get to catch up with the cast from the other novels as well. Their interactions with Keira and Jim are uplifting and heartfelt.

The Men of CCD: Help Wanted by Marie Rochelle is a satisfying conclusion to the Men of CCD series. While you can read The Men of CCD: Help Wanted as a standalone novel, it is helpful to read the other books in the series to gain a better understanding of the supporting characters. I am looking forward to Ms. Rochelle’s next series!
