I think most kids will find at least one character they can identify with. I thought the level of “other worldly” or “hidden worlds” was a little difficult for the authors to describe well and although they did so, there were a few times I had to look back to see if I had missed something. This made me lose my reading rhythm now and then and broke my concentration.

Sandra Ingerman has many publications, all with very good reviews. Now she and Katherine Woods have a book of what shamanic practice is, all in the source of a great fiction and very readable book for younger ages.

My best description is…different than I usually read, interesting, and definitely worth the time.

Lacey assumes Bobby is a player who will only break her heart. Given Lacey’s past problems with men, it is understandable she would be cautious when it comes to matters of the heart. However, Lacey and Bobby spend months together. He proves time and again how much he cares for her. He is attentive, patient, and compassionate. Honestly, he is one of the sweetest heroes I’ve come across. Yet Lacey ignores the evidence that is right in front of her. Her continued insistence of pushing Bobby away went on far too long. Consequently, the pacing suffered a bit. However, I felt that Lacey and Bobby had great potential as a couple, and my patience and perseverance were rewarded in the end.

I must say I really enjoyed how Ms. McLean chose to tell this story. Ms. McLean begins each chapter with a section from the present before cutting back to the past. The changes in time period and point of view are clearly marked, and I never felt lost. Each section from the present reveals one more piece of the puzzle regarding Lacey’s stalker. As each piece clicked into place, I was able to figure out who the stalker was and what their motives were, but I still had no idea how Bobby and Lacey would find a way to be together. The solution was a bit unexpected. It was heartwarming, bittersweet, and very satisfying.

I’m glad I had the opportunity to read Beneath the Lake. Fans of time-travel romance would do well to pick up a copy!

What if the alien invaders humans have long worried about turned out to be plants instead of anything humanoid like us?

I adored the premise of this story from the very first second I read it. Even though I’m an avid reader of science fiction, it’s been a very long time since I read anything about alien species that come to Earth being plants. This isn’t a concept that seems to given a lot of attention in this genre, so I was thrilled to find out how the author would approach it. What made it even better was that the plot itself was somehow more interesting than the blurb! The more I read, I more I wanted to know.

There were a couple of short sections that talked about how the alien plants might have been affecting human’s bodies in certain cases. This was a minor criticism of something I really loved, but I sure would have liked to know more about how this worked and why not everyone seemed to be susceptible to it. The plants were growing so quickly in general that I didn’t quite understand how these parts of the plot fit into their evolution as a whole.

LT was such a well-developed protagonist. Since the audience was able to watch him grow from a child to an adult through all of his various interactions with the alien seeds and plants, we saw many different sides of him. His maturation process was an interesting one. He was so young when the seeds first landed on the Earth that his understanding of what that event meant for human history< and possibly even our survival as a species, was nothing at all like how his parents or other adults would have described it. I deeply enjoyed getting to know this character as he tried to figure out what the intentions of these plants might be.

Nine Last Days on Planet Earth is a fantastic choice for anyone who loves alien stories.

These books are of a very high standard, with no errors that disrupted me. With a strong storyline and hot and sexy times too, I have no hesitation in recommending this book, or the series.

This was an unusual book, set in the snow covered land of Russian Alaska. Fanya is a feisty young woman, determined to recover her inheritance, but also curious about her mother’s people. I found the Unganan people who call themselves Aleut, very down to earth and they reminded me of the Inuit people. The book began by calling the people Unangan then it changed when Fanya escaped to the wild. Very confusing. On the whole the story was interesting with danger and fantasy woven in.

The Saint who helps Fanya talks to her in her mind which I found fascinating, although I felt Fanya relied on her advice too much. I also liked the introduction of Rasputin. I’ve read several stories about this man and feel he was very much a part of the Russia Fanya lived in. There is also a love interest but I won’t spoil the story by saying any more about this.

Nice story, lots of interest, movement, danger and magic.

There’s nothing quite like reconnecting with old friends after being apart from them for many years. One of the things this tale did really well was capture all of the different and sometimes conflicting emotions someone can feel in that situation. Thomas, the main character, seemed to feel everything from excitement to a vague sense of disappointment over how all of their lives had diverged since they last met and who everyone had become now that they were well into adulthood. Seeing him reminisce about old times and create new memories was definitely a highlight for me.

It felt like there was a metaphor in this story that I didn’t quite have enough information about to understand. The thought of bears wandering around calmly in a city that seemed to have to accepted their presence grabbed my attention immediately. I couldn’t wait to find out why so many folks were comfortable around such large and potentially dangerous animals, so it was disappointing when the answers to my questions about this plot twist were hard to find. I would have really liked to have more clues about what the bears represented and why most folks didn’t seem surprised by them at all.

Mr. Hirshberg’s close attention to detail was what made the setting and characters come alive in my imagination. He did a very good job of describing what Russian society was like and why the unusual bears that began wandering around St. Petersburg were so unique. While I can’t go into details about these things without giving away spoilers, I did appreciate the fact that he spent so much time showing the audience what they were like.

If you love science fiction that’s open to many different interpretations, Freedom is Space for the Spirit might be right up your alley.

I really can’t imagine why you’d do that though, and miss out on two great stories before this one.

Told from both Daiyu and Dakar’s perspectives, you find out more about the plans for the shifters on Ximera, plus just how bad the earth is. We get hints about Soledad and Markon, and catch up to Norkad’s antics too.

These characters are all extremely well-rounded out, and the world-building continues to delight. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading, and I was completely caught up in the story. An excellent story, guaranteed to keep your interest. I absolutely recommend it.

Now Vanessa has to work out how to get home to America and rejoin her family and friends.

This book is very well written and captivated me when I began to read it. First it seemed to be a mystery of who had taken Vanessa and brought her to this island, but as the story unfolded it turned out there was much more to the story than I first thought. Gunnar is reserved but a spark of interest is there between them. His story of how he has lived so long seems to be a side story to set the scene, but again there are hidden depths to this. Despite her situation I liked the way Vanessa took charge of her own destiny and convinced Gunnar and his friend to help her.

I’m not going to spoil this for future readers, but the ending is totally unexpected and has a Wow factor. Definitely worth a 5 star rating.

Everything about this book came across as loving, caring and gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. Good book for an afternoon read in front of the fire.

Can Emil find a way to help save not only Jase but the human world as well?

I am enjoying watching the men in this series each find their other halves. The author has created an interesting idea about how the myth of vampires came about. This latest story involves Emil finding love. He is a quiet man who has mostly given up his original duties to become a chef, something that helps relieve his stress and it makes him feel good to care for the others. He is a sweet man who quickly endeared himself to this reader and seeing the way he treats Jase is a beautiful thing. Jase has been through so much and survived. He is strong and soon finds just what he needs with Emil.

Love is not an easy thing to find and the two learn that it is something worth fighting for. Seeing the two find their way made for a wonderful read. Their story is full of emotions and much of it will pull on your heart strings. The characters are well rounded and the camaraderie between all of the men is a nice thing to see. The men have always fought for what is right and continue to do so. Jase and Emil’s story pulled me in right from the start and I am eager to see what will happen next in this world.
