Among these characters, some interesting and changing relationships occur as they search for answers. Are human beings alone in the greater universe or even on this planet? A looming threat creates a feel of impending doom.

The sci-fi flavor of this story enhances the time travel, which is pretty creative. Some fascinating things happen when science meets faith. Mysticism and science come together for a believable, enjoyable adventure that will leave readers thinking about important concepts even past the end of the book.

For those who enjoy their entertainment woven around ideas to stimulate further thought and fresh new presentations of such fun concepts at time travel, this book is a good one to check out.

I’m a sucker for the work of Stephen King. I see a new book and have to have it. When I saw Elevation was coming out, I jumped. The writing flows well. Once I started the book, I had to finish. There was no putting it down and walking away for me. The characters drew me in and I wanted to know what would happen next.

I have to admit I thought the plot, a man losing weight mysteriously, was a tad tired on King’s part. But this take on the trope is fresh. I liked how the author infused bits and pieces of the world right now, too. It felt relevant to what the world is at this moment.

I didn’t like Scott at first. He came across crotchety. But as the story unfolded, I came around to him. Actually, I came around to the rest of the characters. They’re relatable. They’re human. I loved it.

This is a shorter story for King. Keep that in mind. But while it’s short on pages, it’s got a good, solid story. It’s worth the hour or so to read it. If you’re interested in something fresh and contemporary, but still from the mind of Stephen King, then this might be the story you’re looking for.

This is just as well written as the first installment, but I would definitely call it a serial, rather than anything else. I recommend starting with book one in order to fully understand and enjoy this one. The characters continue to change and adapt to their surroundings, and Brisa shows her strength in so many ways. This installment is just a little too short for my enjoyment though.

For a continuation of the story, with this ending on a cliffhanger too, then I would recommend it. A perfect coffee break book.

While the cast of characters was a bit bigger than I’d normally expect to see in a story of this length, I was pleased by how much attention the narrator gave to explaining who everyone was and what role they served on the airbase. I was always able to keep everyone straight in my mind, and that was an important thing to do once tragedy struck.

The pacing was quite slow. As interested as I was in finding out if the AI security system knew anything about the deaths that had taken place on this airbase, seeing things unfold so gradually made it hard for me to remain interested in what the final scene might reveal. There simply wasn’t enough going on in the plot to keep my attention.

I appreciated how relatively calm all of the characters remained after their colleagues were killed. They were obviously saddened and horrified by those deaths, but they were determined to figure out why the event that caused them happened. This struck me as something that was very sensible for a tale set among people who had military training. While their backgrounds weren’t explicitly talked about in the plot, I liked the fact that their training showed up in such practical ways even though they didn’t have time to discuss their pasts.

If you like philosophical questions, I’d recommend giving AI and the Trolley Problem a try.

This is a fast-paced short story that finishes on a cliffhanger, so be warned! There were no editing or grammatical errors, and I enjoyed the premise and layout of the story. Brisa is a strong and compassionate heroine, whilst Val’Trea has a darkness that you don’t know much about yet. She is spoilt and unkind, caring nothing for others – you might even say the exact opposite of Brisa.

Combining Fantasy, Science Fiction, Eroticism, and Religion might not be a combination for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoyed this, and can’t wait to read the second story in this series. Most definitely recommended by me.

One of the things I always enjoy the most about science fiction set in the future is seeing how it imagines our current era might be thought of by people who were born long after it ended. This story had several scenes that made references to things that people living in the twenty-first century would easily understand but that folks in this era found mystifying. I’ll leave it up to future potential readers to discover the specific examples I’m talking about here, but all of them made me chuckle. They couldn’t have been written better.

There weren’t enough details included in this story for me to figure out exactly how the world had changed. Lolly and her family made multiple comments about some sort of dangerous thing that was coming for them, but I couldn’t figure out exactly what they were afraid of. Their references could have been interpreted in so many different ways that narrowing them down to the truth was just about impossible. As much as I loved the atmosphere of this one, I would have enjoyed it even more if it had been clearer about what sort of conflict they were facing.

The atmosphere was fantastic, though. I really liked seeing how Lolly’s completely ordinary shift at work was mixed in with her quickly increasing fear that something awful was about to happen to her and the people around her. There’s something appealing to me about characters whose lives are interrupted in this way, and there was a lot of that in this tale.

If you enjoy endings that are open to many different interpretations, The Weather might be right up your alley.

It is not surprising that she can’t move on until she has uncovered the truth about his disappearance. Annie discovers much more than she bargained for. I think she handles the knowledge of the supernatural world extremely well given the circumstances. Not only does Annie learn the Folk exist, but some of them want to silence her forever. However, Annie refuses to back down. I admire her strength.

Grim is a man of integrity. He tries to protect Annie from the Folk, but he doesn’t lie to her or try to sugar coat the truth of their situation. Grim trusts that Annie is strong enough to handle the truth. Annie and Grim have good chemistry, but their relationship gets serious very quickly. While their physical attraction to each other is undeniable, I wanted something more between them to anchor their relationship.

Bertie is definitely my favorite secondary character. I’m surprised by how much I ended up liking him as I didn’t expect him to play such an integral role in the story when I started reading. He comes off as a rich playboy at first, but he has a surprising depth to him. I hope to learn more about him in future installments of the series.

When the villain was revealed, I was caught off guard. I kept wondering how the disappearing women were connected to the reappearance of Annie’s brother but was not able to connect the dots until the very end. Even worse, the culprit was someone who seems trustworthy.

I enjoyed reading Away. I found the premise intriguing and look forward to learning more about the Folk in the next book!

I would have loved to see more world building and character development in this story. We didn’t even learn the main character’s name, much less why she disliked aliens so much or when she first began justifying her prejudices about them so strongly that she didn’t even have self-awareness of this part of her personality. The handful of hints about her past simply didn’t enough details to explain how she turned into the sort of person she did or when humans in general might have changed their minds about how they wanted to treat the aliens living among them.

By far my favorite part of this tale was how it demanded that the reader participate in it. Since it was written in the second person, every sentence almost sounded like a conversation with someone who knew you well instead of the continuation of a fictional plot. I found myself standing in the shoes of a character I didn’t like and seeing the world through her eyes. As uncomfortable as that experience was at times, it was also a great way to encourage this reader to wonder what I would do if I lived in a similar situation.

I’d recommend Sweetheart to anyone who is looking for something thought provoking.

Although Renata’s life is changing, she is still more than ready to stand up for herself. I am hoping she does take a seat on the council! Not only would she ruffle some feathers, but she would also support the underdog (if needed).

Raisa Greywood is an author I am loving. This will be the third book of hers I have read, and I still want more. Her world-building is excellent, the characters are well-fleshed out, situations believable. All in all, I am loving this world, and this author’s work. Absolutely recommended by me.

Written in the first person, you see both Renata and Rakon’s perspectives of both situations and the other person. The pacing is fast yet smooth, and will definitely take your breath away. The descriptions of people and places are “out of this world”. Renata is a brilliant character, who is both empathetic and also bad-ass! Renata and Rakon really do make the perfect pair, although sometimes Rakon does need a good thumping! Luckily for him, Renata is there to keep him in line.

With a whole host of interesting characters, I can’t wait to see where this will go next. Absolutely recommended by me.
