Jaycee goes through a lot of pain in this story and she has yet to resolve it all. Since this is book one I can only hope that the following books will give the reader that happy-ever-after that Jaycee deserves. I enjoyed this book but I would caution readers that it is a very intense read including some deaths of prominent characters, references to the abuse and rape of a younger Jaycee and some harsh sex scenes as well.

Trinity Blacio does a great job of bringing the readers into the world of the wolves. Jaycee and her mates are great characters and I cannot wait to see how their story concludes.

What can I say about Jemma? She starts out determined to seduce her best friend Griffin. She is sassy, and sweet, and determined to be part of whatever it takes to stop Nettie once and for all. Watching her seduce Griff and get her way with him was fun, but watching her grow into her powers and face the consequences of her actions was so much more.

Griff is the tall and handsome lover Jemma wants. He just happens to be her familiar, and a Bengal tiger shifter as well. I love his loyalty to Jemma, and his determination to keep her safe at all costs. He doesn’t want to share her with the wolf, Logan, but it may be the only way to save Jemma and stop the zombies and Nettie from mass destruction of the world. And Logan is every bit as yummy as Griff; tall, dark and decidedly a bad boy, but with a soft side he doesn’t show to anyone.

This story was a terrific one, with an interesting take on witches and their familiars, and I loved that Ms. Redford gave the witches a governing body, with rules and laws and penalties. If this book is any indication, this world of Southern magic and witchcraft should provide more stories of magic and mystery in the future. I certainly hope it happens soon, as I would love to read more about these characters.

In the books I’ve read about abusive relationships they aren’t in the sibling arena. It’s not that I’ve avoided the familial abusive relationship, it’s just I haven’t read any. This being my first experience, it was definitely intense.

Emily has a very unpredictable relationship with her brother. She’s always on edge when he’s around, not knowing what kind of mood he will be in. Chris immediately becomes the villain of this story since he’s supposed to be protecting and caring for Emily, not abusing her. Although Chris’ character doesn’t interact a lot with the others, his scenes are intense and emotionally challenging for the reader to witness. His presence is felt throughout the rest of the story because of the deep rooted abuse his encounters with his sister have left behind.

Cole and Adam McCade have always felt protective of Emily since she first came to their ranch. The title of the book is quite appropriate to the story since Emily does get ‘saved’ in more ways than one. The sex was beyond stimulating and very refreshing in that it didn’t seem redundant. It’s an unfortunate thing for men in the real world because the men in this tale have definitely raised the bar. I would love to know what’s next on the horizon for this talented author.
